so various moments of STS frequently bounce around in my head but tonight it's Cody's elevator breakdown when Helix tells him how Stitch took the 'shiny' comment. and how he knew to say 'i wouldn't trade you /now/ for anything'. and how he said 'just being stitch is plenty fine too' and thinking about cody having been reconditioned himself. and. thinking about how obi-wan and the medic squad would react if they found out. needle realizing /marshall commander fucking cody/ is a 'recon' too. AHHH
alright you asked for it-
kamino does not have room for gentle things.
twig does not know this, and fox hates him a little bit for it.
twig is soft. fox catches him smuggling medical supplies out onto the catwalks to tend to a gull with a crooked wing. he helps him, the first time, and twig beams at him and says see?
fox goes back out later that night. the bird does not know to be afraid of him. fox wonders how often twig had gone out before, right before he snaps its neck.
(you cannot be soft on kamino.)
the gull is gone, he tells twig. it must've flown away.
twig is a crier. fox hits him. it only makes him cry harder.
stop it, he hisses- stop it, stop it, stop it-
it works. twig does not smuggle supplies again.
(you cannot be weak on kamino.)
twig is kind. kind in a way fox is not and never wants to be.
fox pins another cadet in a spar and tells him to yield-
"yield," the kid repeats, and hits him.
fox tightens his grip, hissing- the long-necks are watching always watching-
"give up," he says.
the kid's too cocky, too cocky, who's he to tell him to give up-
then twig is hauling him up and backwards and his "back off!" is just
a bit
too
loud.
fox does not look up.
the kid he'd pinned is crying.
fox does not look up.
twig kneels next to the crier. squeezes his hand. smiles, nice and soothing.
fox does not look up.
he can feel the eyes on them.
(you cannot be kind on kamino.)
the empty boy returns to them at 22:00 hours.
fox coaxes him into his own bunk. the first night is always dangerous. he points to the bucket that bly, wordless, had placed next to the mattress.
"if you need to vomit," he instructs not-twig-anymore, "you aim there."
"yes," 2224 says.
"you cannot be kind."
"fox," ponds whispers, from the bunk above them.
fox ignores him. he curls his fingers around twig's 2224's forearm and squeezes until he's sure he'll leave bruises.
"you cannot be kind," he repeats. "do you understand?"
"yes."
"good," fox says, satisfied. and then, because it is important, and because he means it- "then i would not trade you now for anything."
(kindness does not trade well, on kamino.)

Thinking about tfc heavy in the comics and his drive to get the australium; to obtain immortality. He betrays his role as a mercenary for Gray Mann just to get it without him. Relentless and with no mercy. Like he needs it no matter what; even as his friends die off, even when the prospect of him failing is inevitable. The motivation to have something that will never happen in reality. And he only comes to terms with it at his last dying breath, wondering why he failed. It parallels the Epic of Gilgamesh; the futile effort to live forever.
The universal tragedy in a way. Hubris was his Achilles' heel.

”I dont see arle as sub” okay.. well… she’s a total loser in reality AND a sub yall dont see my vision
She's such a girlfailure in the sense that everyone thinks she's off doing some crazy diabolical thing when really she's probably off fawning about her kids in the most dad way or watching ants walk in a line
I had this really dumb hc where she's got NO sense of direction so she gets lost really easily and the only thing saving her ass is her highass heels cuz then you can tell her apart from an entire crowd. Like she IS both a loser and a sub and NOBODY can tell me otherwise

I need to type this down before I forget, but it'll mainly just be a mess of words, But I find it so interesting that Player shares so many similarities with Zavier, especially with their whole "savior complex". Player and Quincy are a lot more similar now that I really look at it. Both of them are very quick to get attached to those who they consider their friend. Example being Suzie. And what's interesting to me is that in previous iterations before TJ came to be, it's specifically brought up by Zavier that Player was never meant to get this strong, they were never meant to have more than 2 keys. Yet if Player fails, then ultimately the timeline is doomed, sort of how, whether or not Zavier obtains the keys doesn't seem to matter since either way DoodleCo will get the keys no matter what. They're both in a lose-lose situation. Where they are unable to stop the cycle of pain, one who doesn't know what's going on, and one who finds out too late and the cycle repeats. Player is too weak to stop DoodleCo in previous iterations and they are unable to grow before the TJ timeline. And Zavier is likely killed before he truly realizes what's going on and the cycle repeats. Player and Zavier share this inherit want to save or help people for the greater cause, like how you do every Help Center request. Or ultimately save the island from total destruction. Quincy even says that he is indirectly inspired by Player, and Zavier seems to trust and open up to Player. Likely meaning, in previous iterations, they were at least close enough that Zuincy was influenced by them in some way. Even if Player isn't that strong, they still have that deep connection with their friends or those around them. Like even if they didn't want to exactly face Craig, they still did it for Cassidy and for everyone else. Even if they didn't want to face Carson and the other bullies, they still did it for Alice. And likely with TJ in Arid Mines, that gave Player enough of a reason to keep going and fight Zavier head on. In fact, I've noticed that a lot of major fights that happen in the story always have one or more of the group present. Example, 1) Suzie being there for you when you take down Victor Solis, 2) Quincy being there for Von Sweets' battle, 3) TJ being there when you face Erika, In fact... What if THIS is the reason why Anna says that the fate of the world depends on the group not falling apart and staying together? That Player NEEDS someone to be there by their side and give them a reason to keep going. Because even if they themselves don't want to fight, they're willing to fight for their friends. And Zavier and Player are both just teenagers at the end of the day, trusted with things far beyond what they're meant to handle. Yet they do it anyway, for the people they care about. Both Zavier and Player are meant to prevent the apocalypse from happening, that's what the Blue Strings is all about. It's perhaps why there's only one vessel for the Blue Strings, because there hasn't been an active war yet.

Stargate Atlantis Gif Dump Part 2
I have.. so so so many gifs from sga.. and because they were some of the first gifs I made, I didn't order them in any sensible way, and so I have.. no easy way to sort them out into a nice gif set. So uh. Here's a kinda color organized dump. Very Todd heavy. As usual, no credit required if you use these.

Milkvan has not been built up
Macaroni and cheese could not have been intentionally built up since season 1, El was originally supposed to die.
All the build up that happened for marine biology took place in s1, the kiss and Els death was supposed to be the end of it. For something to be built up, it requires a satisfying conclusion, I believe that the build up was there in s1 and the satisfying conclusion was supposed to be the kiss and self sacrifice for the first friends El had made. Byler on the other hand, has been stated to have been thought out since s1(at least on wills part). Milktits say all the time that milkshake has been built up since the first season, but even if El wasn't supposed to die, the satisfying conclusion to the build up would be them getting together at the snoball. There is no building up in s3&4, all there is is proof that they aren't compatible. All of the conflict between them that happened in s3&4 didn't need to happen, they could've just been a happy power couple for the rest of the seasons if macrame was really endgame. Will didn't need to be in love with mike, will didn't even need to be gay if Mariah Carey was really endgame.
Now I do think that s1&2 had buildup, but the building up ended when they got together, and subsequently proved that they do not work as a couple. In s3 they broke up and lied, and in s4 they weren't together for most of the season and when they were they fought and lied. I firmly believe that just because a couple breaks up in a show doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't still being built up or aren't endgame. Take Jess and nick from New Girl for example, they dated for a while until realizing they had extremely different goals in life and did not work as a couple. Yet, during their time apart they grew as people and their goals changed, but they stayed best friends and they eventually realized that they were still in love with each other, and got back together, their goals aligning and finally working as a couple. That is what a good build up looks like, even when the couple in question breaks up.
Now let's take a look at Mel Gibson's breakup in s3, while El grew as a person during this time, mike stayed pretty much the same. The time they spent apart did not make them grow as people and become more compatible, they might have grown a little, but we're still proven to be incompatible in s4. The breakup of nick and Jess was drawn out to prove that they could grow and show that they still worked as friends, whilst macropenis break up was played as a joke and the two barely talked during the time, further proving that milkvan doesn't work well. Macroeconomics has not been built up, what happened is that the duffers have done their best to show that they are incompatible.
My guess of why milkman has been handled like this is that El was and is a fan favorite, when the duffel bags realized they couldn't kill her off they needed a way to make sure that melanin could have a satisfying ending while keeping El on the show. At the time, I believe, Motorola razr was a fan favorite ship. The duffel bagels couldn't just end it now that El was alive and well, so they had to show that they did not work as a couple, and then end it.
