#i am (lesbian) sipping him like a fine DESSERT WINE #my evidence by the way is very simple and very damning. joyce messier. there i said it.#if you guys can appreciate the fact that Joyce is a complex figure worthy of disgust yes but also worthy of empathy #despite being a venal coward facilitating acts of violence and slaughter of the organized working poor of martinaise in the name of capital #if you can understand that she is a dimensional figure while also being an embodiment of the moral apathy and cruelty if capital owners #but you cant look at evrart and see that he is (while deeply flawed and morally suspect) also a dimensional figure #on top of the fact that his motivations are eminently relatable and dare i say it baser #and his greatest failing imho is in failing to advocate for the interests of *all* the poor of martinaise #opting instead to marginalize the inhabitants of the fishing village in favor of a power grab in the interests of himself and his union #though this is imo a bit of a grey area morally. undeniably a wrong and bad thing to do but done in service of clairs political goals #to gather power to advocate for the working class against ultraliberal monoliths like wild pines and fascistic orgs like krenel #still super wrong but i can follow the moral arithmetic there tho i don't like it #but like my point is if u can see that joyce is evil and pathetic but still cool and sexy but you consider clair flatly distasteful #thats cus hes not conventionally attractive #cus he is *every bit* as dimensional and interesting as joyce and he is not nearly as politically shite even if hes interpersonally a jerk

#projecting my major on Vash because them mfs who have changed from the med field majors to that one have some tragic things to tell #and also because I think that Vash would be such a wonderful designer I don’t know why it’s a gut feeling #Nai the law major because of course he would have you seen the guy #he would be a personal injury lawyer because lore #fun fact Nai rested for a semester after the incident with Vash while Vash took two.He never told Nai he would be changing majors #so it was a big big shock for him. they fought again but yk I’ll explain more on that if anyone is interested #as to Kni and WW I thought it’d be funny if they shared a common subject that required a lot of team assignments #and they can NEVER work out together. being an absolute nightmare to the rest of their group #separately they are great to work with. even if Kni can come off as too bossy sometimes he is actually a great leader #and WW would always deliver things on time exactly as it was asked from him #but Kni and WW just never really matched. Kni was too rude at times when WW made a mistake and WW would always clock him if he passed a line #like insulting his reasons for wanting to study security #one day Kni tells him at the beginning of a new semester where they both have unfortunately landed on a shared subject again #“you are not suited for that sort of job Wolfwood. you should simply give up and why don’t you go play role model to your little kids’’#then WW beats him again and then is like hey yk what you’re kinda right. and changed majors and he feels so much more at home studying #education/teaching than security. he fucking hates some things but the end goal makes it worthy #Trigun Uni! #'in academia you have to cite-' yes. and lots of marginalized people also get their research stolen by supervisors #or by others who are deemed more worthy #there's a huge problem in stem research with unreplicable results #and financing by MIC and industry actors who want one result only #in the humanities funding is very pointed and defined by political goals too #and yes publish or perish is a real thing and bad/plagiarized work isnt caught nearly as often as it should be #look. putting this all on like. youtube 'bad actors' or even just youtube is doing a major disservice to the real underlying causes #and why said 'bad actors' have monetary and structural incentive to act the way they do #and get rewarded for it #eli talks

So, I've heard a lot of negative press about the movie Wasih, which, hey cool. I wasn't keen on watching but it came up and why not.

Here is my issue. I was lead it wasn't good for the following reasons:

Wish Girl: Shouldn't we grant every wish ever no matter what!?

Evil Dude: Um, that's insane. Do you know how many wishes are straight up murder?

So I was kind of surprised when it ACTUALLY went much more like:

Wish Girl: So this is where you keep every wishes or every single one of our citizens over the age of 18, huh?

Evil Dude: Yeah, preeeetty much. Oh but, careful there. Haha, you see, because some of them suck so we can't risk those getting out....

Wish Girl: Getting out? You mean you won't grant them ever?

Evil Dude: GRANT them? Are you crazy? Look at this one! This loser wants to INSPIRE people with MUSIC! IMAGINE the carnage of I granted that sort of insanity!

Wish Girl: I'm sorry are none of these like, "I really want to murder my husband?" How is that the evilest example you could manage?

Evil Dude: Inspiring music? Do you WANT to live in communist China!?

Wish Girl: I don't know about this Communism or China.... but.... like.... when people give you their wishes, they're trusting you.

Evil Dude: And I'm doing my part by not just destroying them on sight.

Wish Girl: You don't understand! They're TRUSTING you, not just with their dreams but with who they ARE. When you remove their wishes, you're removing PART of who they are! People, they forget their dreams. Your dreams, your goals, a huge part of who you are! I'm not asking you to grant every wish.... I just don't think people should lose a piece of themselves, not even knowing it's gone.

Wish Girl: If you don't want to use your magic that's fine. Why not let them at least strive to bring their dreams to reality the old fashion way?

Evil Dude: Well yeah but you know.... hypothetical badness!

Wish Girl: ..... Give them back.

Evil Dude: I'm sorry, what?

Wish Girl: Just give them back. Like, okay, you don't want to make this guy a rockstar but right now he doesn't even remember he likes music! Give! It! Back!

I mean, how is that evil? It's less a "grant every dream always!" More a "let people think and dream what they want". Her initials reaction isn't a free dream for everyone!!!" It's "people should know their own goals, they shouldn't be stolen away."

Why ya'll trying to pretend the dude who is taking people's hopes/dreams/personalities and choosing which ones get to happen and which are ERASED FROM THE MIND OF THE INDIVIDUAL FOREVER is the good guy?

Is media literacy just a joke?

I know being a an advocate for a two state solution makes me a “Zionist” on a technicality but like y’all are still using that word too liberally.

#I think the goal we should be working towards is the recognition of Palestinian statehood and sovereignty #and international protection thereof #I think a full withdrawal from the West Bank is unlikely but a worthy goal and I agree with recent American action against thesettlers ther #more of a long term goal than a short term #at any rate the siege on Gaza should be lifted and Gaza should be given energy independence and its own water system #(this is all in line with the stated goals of the Biden administration by the way)#I don’t see the US ever unilaterally withdrawing military support from one of its allies unfortunately #but I will admit that it is at least something that you can advocate for
