Since it's all gloomy and cloudy outside, I thought "Hey, why not watch Jack Goes Home again?" and I googled who might be finally streaming the thang around here just to be reminded that media literacy is truly dead and dying in a corner. People are misinterpreting this movie so bad I'm holding my head in hands rn.

In my own personal opinion, the worst drama movies I've seen from the 20th century
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Separate Tables- I think Burt Lancaster's character is despicable. Deborah Kerr's character is supposed to be 18, with her mother as her chaperone. That's not believable. Just not a fan of the story.
Giant- I dont care for the story of the characters. Pretty gross James Dean's character flirts with both the mother and the daughter, decades apart. I just do not latch onto the characters or the story, not my cup of tea.
The Children's Hour- a poor excuse of a movie. No idea how Audrey was roped into this travesty and also sad how it's her only movie with James Garner, as they would have been magical together in a better script. Lillian Hellman's work, I increasingly find I am not a fan of her style.
Peyton Place- UGH. Do not care for the over dramatic soap opera. I do understand this was high quality drama in 1959, but for me I just don't care about it.
The Way We Were- I love Robert Redford , but on a personal level, this is not my cup of tea. I don't believe in their love story because Katie treats her husband so terribly. It's just a frustrating watch because of the politics dominating the story- it's way too politically based. The characters become shallow because of the focus being shifted to the politics. They succumb to their awful personalities rather than let their love for each other make them strong.
A Summer Place - This movie is pretty gross. Essentially step siblings fall for each other. Its gross- and the parents are just ok with it???? Ewwww.
