Bronze Bell Character Bio's

These are meant to be just quick overview of the changes to their personalities and backstories. Since we're only swapping the lords, this does mean that a number of characters don't have any changes but are still added so we don't forget anyone.

Mercenaries

Byleth: chooses Golden Deer.

Beles: chooses Black Eagles. The sword of the Creator stays with her during the time skip.

Jeralt: still dies.

Chez: The cool aunt/uncle figure that steps up to lead the group after Jeralt’s death and the twins' disappearance. 

Blue Lions/Kingdom

Dimitri: (Claude) The Tragedy of Duscur never happens, his father never remarries. Dimitri has a lot of pressure on him as the next king. But his father does die during the time-skip due to sickness. He lost his left eye during an assassination attempt after his coronation.

Dedue: Becomes besties with Dimitri via diplomatic relations between their fathers.

Dusan: Close friends with both Dedue and Dimitri. Childhood friends with Ashe. Captain of the Royal Guard in Duscur. Happier and still has his parents and siblings, who are both successful in their own fields. He's tortured and experimented on by TWSITD during the 5-year gap and given an unstable version of the Crest of Ernest. Parents both pass over those 5 years due to old age, but both siblings are still alive.

Sylvain: No change.

Felix: Still friends with Dimitri and broody but does have healthier coping mechanisms.

Ingrid: Happier, but still as strict. Still engaged with Glenn

Ashe: Not really changed. He is still close with Christophe after he joins the church.

Mercedes: Not changed. Though Mercedes is ecstatic to be reunited with her brother.

Annette: Happier with her father still around.

Glenn: Still alive. Dotes on his brother since his dad is still a pos

Rodrigue: Still a pos dad, compares Felix to Glenn all the time (Who shuts that shit down)

Lonato: Does not start a rebellion against the Church

Miklan: Has not changed, still a pos

Gilbert: Stayed around, is a good dad

Golden Deer/Alliance

Claude: (Edelgard) Crests- Crest of Flames, Crest of Riegan. Less Laid-back, and more paranoid unless he’s around Cynthia or Byleth. Always has some sort of scheme up his sleeve. More willing to use lethal poisons but less willing to put his friends in danger. Uses the persona of The Gilded Emperor when forced to work with TWSITD.

Hilda: Less lazy, but still a girly girl. Also does not have the same hatred towards fighting as she does in cannon

Cynthia: Crests- Crest of Aubin, Crest of Macuil. She is also kidnapped/forced to work with TWSITD due to them holding her brother hostage. Less of a spitfire. Calmer, more refined. Does not curse. Unwilling betrothed to Claude on both sides.

Lorenz: No change

Raphael: No change

Ignatz: No change

Lysithea: No change really

Marianne: No change

Leonie: No change

Nader: Working to find the Almyra Prince (Claude)

Judith: No personality change, but does worry about what Claude isn’t telling her. Also teases him about him being betrothed

Eric: Equivalent of the Death Knight. Escapes from TWSITD after the time skip and eventually joins up with the Blue Lions/Black Eagles

Black Eagles/Empire

Edelgard: (Dimitri) Snapped due to rage concerning how her family was killed/endangered. Much friendlier towards Dimitri, and more prone to violent outbursts when it comes to TWSITD. After the time skip, what snaps her out of this rage is when Beles almost dies to protect her, making her realize that if she continues then she’s no better than TWSITD.

Hubert: Stays the same but is friendlier with Ferdinand. Stays with Edelgard during the time skip.

Ferdinand: Does not like being called “prince”, less competitive with Edelgard. Also friendlier with Hubert. Strained relationship with his father due to seeing how weirdly obsessed he is with the throne (and how he’s only proud of Ferdinand while on the throne).

Linhardt: More of a worry wart when it comes to Caspar. Has learned how to not throw up as much when healing as well as how to keep Caspar still while he looks over him.

Caspar: Brother was killed in the uprising of Brigid, less cheerful unless he’s around Linhardt and/or Cress. Tends to be a bit reckless when it comes to protecting those he cares about. After Cress’s “death” focuses more on his training and becomes more reckless.

Petra: Quieter due to her language “issues” unless she’s around her other classmates (then she’s more of her normal bubbly self)

Dorothea: no change.

Bernadetta: no change.

Cressida: no change until the time skip, then she becomes darker and angrier. This is due to her being left behind during the attack on the Church and having to cope with the loss of her foot alone.

Church

Rhea: no change

Seteth: no change

Flayn: no change

Hanneman: No change

Manuela: no change

Alois: no change

Catherine: ran away from her house with Christophe, in a relationship with Shamir and Christophe.

Shamir: No change.

Christophe: Still alive, in a relationship with Catherine and Shamir.

Cyril: Works under Nader looking for the lost Almyra Prince (Claude). Does still recognize how important “Lady Rhea” is to the Church and still genuinely wants to help the Monastery

Jeritza: Still the same, just not the Death Knight. Very happy to see his sister again. She convinces him to get help for the blackouts he gets.

Holst: Inherits the family title but doesn’t become a general due to no fighting with Almyra

TWSITD

Thales: Disguised as Claude’s Uncle, Godfrey, used an attack to disguise the swap.

Solon: Literally no change.

Kronya: Disguised as a former Golden Deer student who went missing.

SS Chapter 18 & 19

Whew, felt like it took a long time to reach this next chapter. Life's been busier than usual lately, but here we are.

Spoilers possibly up until Silver Snow Chapter 18 (and other routes around the same time).

Pre-Battle 18

Should I tag this as Verdant Wind spoilers since they basically follow the same plot? Only slightly kidding.

We storming the capital now! Woot! Is Edelgard really going down in one freaking chapter though?

Are they finally going to acknowledge that Byleth's marching to chop down his former student? Because so far he's felt exactly nothing about Edelgard. Not regret, not longing, not horniness, not anger, not vengeance. It's like she's some faceless evil emperor he's never meant before for all the emotional impact their former relationship's had in part 2 so far.

ARE WE GONNA GET RHEA BACK SOON??? Please. I want to see what role she's going to play. There's still so much I don't know about her.

Ok, seeing the map, I don't see Edelgard, but I do see both Hubert and the Death Knight despite defeating them a million times already.

They really shouldn't let us fight the Death Knight so many times if they wanted him to come across intimidating. Even early on, Lysithea with Dark Spikes and Dimitri with a horse killer weapon just melt him. Maybe it's harder on Maddening.

Battle 18

Ugh, I hate split maps. No, Seteth, I don't want to split up.

Hubert sounds so sinister. OMG I love him. He doesn't care - at all - that there were his former classmates.

So Lysithea nuked the Death Knight into another dimension . . . again. Is he dead for real this time? Because it seemed official this time. Finally.

Oh, unique dialogue with Hubert and Ferdinand. The drama. Too bad his Boltings have a 0% hit chance on Ferdinand.

Now time to waste Hubert's second Bolting.

LAMO that Imperial Soldier lady also has Bolting, but Linhardt just waited her out. She did a total of 1 damage to him lol. She's got 5 though and that's annoying, so Petra just took her out.

Having Byleth finish Hubert off since I bet there's more unique dialogue.

Hubert threatening Byleth. Name a more iconic duo.

OMG Byleth' gaunlets broke lamo. Guess someone else will actually finish Hubert.

Wow, Hubert's generic dialogue "not even death will make you consequential." Told that to poor Bernie. Still took an arrow to the face though.

And seems like he's dead-dead this time.

Does he always give you a Goddess Icon when he dies. Because that's funny if he does.

Oh - MVP Petra! She deserves it. She's really catching up to Ferdie and Sylvain. It's just - she never dodges like Ferdinand does, and can't take the punishment Sylvain does.

Post-Battle 18/Pre-Battle 19

WAIT - WAIT - WAIT - WAIT. DEDUE. DEDUE IS HERE? MY BOY? HE'S HERE. WHY IS HE HERE? 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Yeah, wtf is he doing in Enbarr?

Oh - Dedue here's for Edelgard's blood. Nice.

Holy shit, Dedue. He infiltrated Enbarr and gathered intell?

Dedue is low-key the best spy in this game guys. Gathered intel to help an invading army take a castle literally under Edelgard's and Hubert's noses and let's not forget how he broke Dimitri out of prison.

Oh, so now we have the "I don't want to kill Edelgard" or "Can we walk the same path as her." Why are those two my only options though? Where's the "fuck yeah" option? It's way more fun to embrace the kill 'em all thing. Except Dimitri and Dedue because my heart

Why is Seteth always lying to me? He keeps saying "I'll leave it in your hands." But then doesn't and yells at me.

Battle 19

Ok. I decided I'm playing these two back-to-back.

Does Verdant Wind do this too? Fight Hubert and the Death Knight, then jump straight to Edelgard, no month in-between?

Because it if it does - it's going to take forever to get to Azure Moon, because, unfortunately, I won't be able to play this game for close to a month after this because of work and other stuff.

Mannnn, I am NOT looking forward to this map with my VW gang. In SS, my Sylvain, Ferdinand, and Petra are all super reliable. And Lysithea can nuke anything. No one in my VW gang is as good as any of those four (though, Claude has gotten more speed lately - thank the stars).

OMG DEDUE IS BACK. HE came, but he's green. WHYYYYY.

So . . . does Dedue have unique battle dialogue with Edelgard? She's all that's left and he's marching towards her. I think I'm going to test this. I'd laugh my butt off if he crit and killed her.

No unique dialogue, but it feels good letting Dedue get a hit on here. I get Dedue could kill her. I could just keep healing him, and she's got no one left. Should I do it guys?

I think I'm going to do it.

I'll let Byleth peck at her with his puny magic damage so I can get that dialogue, and then Dedue's killing Edelgard next round probably.

LAMO Sothis is a false Goddes, but like, she's living in Byleth's head so. We know she's not false.

Oh, well, Edelgard crit Dedue. So I just reset things and my ever reliable Lysithea nuked Edelgard onto another planet, as she does.

Weird she and Lysithea got unique dialogue though.

Ohhh cut scene. Why does Edelgard have a sword though?

Why is Edelgard asking Byleth to kill her? I guess it makes sense. He was her teacher here.

She does know all these people are killing each other because of her, right?

Oh, wow, he just lopped her head off. That's maybe as badass as when Byleth just offed Randolph (or however you say his name). I'm legit impressed the game didn't milk that harder.

Though they did that "I wanted to walk with you line . . ." Which . . . I'll take it. That's not too bad. She did, but what a twisted path she's walking.

I'm a bit conflicted about her death here though. It seemed kind of . . . weird? I expected Edelgard, from the way she talks in CF, to do down fighting. Not pleading to "my teacher" on her knees and panting.

MVP Lysithea. Guess landing that last hit on Edelgard motivated her.

Post-Battle 19

Are we finally gonna see Rhea?

Why did Hubert right us a letter?

Oh, it's about those mage people. And they want revenge. How original. If they're the enemies of all of Fodlan, why did you fight with them? Like why not take them out, then Rhea, who doesn't . . . you know . . . want to destroy the world?

Hubert and Dedue the real MVPs of this route though.

I can't with the name "those who slither in the dark" though. How lame.

Seteth said "kill every last one of them" though.

And her hair is down! She looks pretty. She looks sickely though.

I'm guessing we don't get playable Rhea, though I bet someone would've told me already if we did, because she's in such poor shape.

Pre-Timeskip Ferdithea

I think this one would be the one that would happen first

I’m a whore for canon so everything definitely happens according to the supports imo

Ferdinand sort of just goes with the flow and is nice to everyone but anyone with eyes can see he’s madly in love with Dorothea

Just absolutely head over heels like

“If you asked me to jump off a bridge right now I would go do it” kind of head over heels madly in love

Dorothea is aware but is trying very hard not to be

She doesn’t really get it because she’s still under the impression he was gawking at her in the fountain and suddenly feels guilty about it now that they’re pretty much on the same pedestal

And as Dorothea navigates how she feels about Ferdinand and his adoration of her, she turns to Hubert’s relationship with Edelgard

Pre-Timeskip Huberthea

Dorothea pesters Hubert endlessly about his feelings for Edelgard

Knowing that his feelings for her aren’t romantic is relieving, but she’s not sure why

Especially because this now makes Ferdinand’s doting on her even more confusing

So she hangs around Hubert, much to his annoyance, to see what fuels his drive for Edelgard

She ends up doing a few tasks with him like buying some Bergamot, polishing axes, and eventually uh

They touch hands

While harvesting some Noa Fruit

And the ensuing weekend dinner with the Professor becomes all the more awkward because of course the Professor is playing matchmaker after noticing the time they’ve been spending together

Then one day Dorothea notices Hubert drinking coffee and is like

Holy shit that stuff we used to drink to stay up for five fucking acts of an opera how do you drink that

But he makes a bombass brew and suddenly the caffeine addiction is back

They don’t really talk about the almost-touches and the wistful talks about romance that don’t really go anywhere

But Dorothea manages to convince Hubert to do some things for himself (like planting coffee beans in the greenhouse and like vent)

And Hubert’s errands for Edelgard takes Dorothea’s mind off the stress of finding a suitor

Because devotion to someone or something is ,,, honestly a lot more important than money

And holy shit maybe there’s something to Ferdinand’s actions?????

Oh well better ignore it for now

Pre-Timeskip Ferdibert

But this is where it gets cOMPLICATED folks

Hubert is VERY aware that what he has with Dorothea is bordering romantic but he’s trying to push that down a because he feels like he doesn’t deserve someone who could be as devoted to him as he is to them

He’s ALSO trying to push down his feelings for Ferdinand mostly because he knows that Ferdinand is currently pursuing Dorothea

So Hubert is caught in the middle between the two

If at all, he tries to focus a little more on his attraction to Ferdinand because he understands that Dorothea is currently not interested in either one of them

(or else she would’ve said something, right????)

Also, due to Ferdinand being heir apparent to the prime ministry, Hubert has an excuse to keep watch over him

I mean

What can I say except Hubert is morosexual

He wants someone to fix/take care of and currently Dorothea is not exhibiting that need

Ferdinand tho? dude would literally lose his head if it weren’t attached to his neck

Eventually Hubert draws up a proposal to have a double prime ministry so that he can overlook Ferdinand’s actions in the future

He ends up tucking the draft into a drawer, but the idea tends to sit at the tip of his tongue every time he sees Ferdinand

He’s afraid Ferdinand will see it for what it is

A proposal proposal

And that’s exactly what it is

And he (no thoughts) talks to Dorothea about it and she (head empty) encourages him to propose it at the dance

Pre-Timeskip Goddess Tower

so after presumably edelethy actions have happened and the goddess tower becomes unoccupied,

Hubert asks Ferdinand to accompany him up to the tower for the government proposal™️

Ferdinand doesn’t suspect anything

But then they get up there and Dorothea is there, waiting to pour her heart out to Hubert because she realizes if she doesn’t nip it in the bud, she’ll never have a devoted suitor (and also she still doesn’t realize that this is a proposal proposal)

So then it basically becomes that spiderman meme with all the spidermen pointing at each other because they all have dumb stupid crushes on each other

Problem is they’re all young and dumb and they don’t know how to sort it out so they just don’t and leave

Post-Timeskip Ferdithea

So war happens and everyone’s pretty distant from each other

Then the Professor comes back and is extremely upset to see all the rifts between everyone

So everyone kind of tries

But that’s hard because it’s been five years and the rifts are now pretty much ravines

Ferdinand finally gets the nerve up to talk to Dorothea again because he’s at his breaking point

He can’t stand not talking to either of them and Dorothea’s more open to talking

Their A support happens and Dorothea finally understands why Ferdinand did the things he did

ONLY PROBLEM IS

NOW HUBERT/EDELGARD IS VERY CONFUSING AGAIN

Post-Timeskip Huberthea

So Dorothea finally confronts Hubert again and asks him again if he truly loves Edelgard

He decidedly does not

He also decidedly does not want to speak to Dorothea after the Goddess Tower Incident

Dorothea begs him to at least speak to Ferdinand

Hubert considers this

Post-Timeskip Ferdibert

Meanwhile, Ferdinand is mending the bridge between himself and Hubert

They have their A+ Support

They start doing missions together

And after Hubert protects Ferdinand from a close call with a Faerghus fusillade, Ferdinand starts to see what Dorothea saw in Hubert

Uh the devotion that is

Now Ferdiberthea :)

So have i said devotion enough yet? Because that’s the name of the game

And Dorothea fuckiNg misses Hubert

and Ferdinand is pretty much spending all his time with Hubert so Dorothea ends up missing him a lot too

(Also at this point both Ferdithea/ferdibert have become an unspoken thing around Garreg Mach and everyone is VERY confused)

(Except the Professor who is watching their matchmaking attempts come to fruition)

So anyway Dorothea has Edelgard arrange for her to go on the next mission with Hubert and Ferdinand

And OOPS ITS WINTER AND THEY ALL GET STRANDED IN A SMALL TOWN WITH ONLY A ONE BED ROOM OPEN AT AN INN

it’s a king size don’t worry

They just have to get used to each other’s company for a long Pegasus Moon

Ferdinand catches onto the coldness between Hubert and Dorothea so he tries to find situations to get them alone together

So after a couple of those moments, Hubert and Dorothea have a colder version of their A support out in the small town market

There’s some crying, some consoling, and a passionate makeout back at the inn followed by Ferdinand reaping the spoils by joining in

When they get back to Garreg Mach, they become an impervious wall of magic and equestrian fighting

They also become an impervious wall of love and devotion

Miscellaneous headcanons

Ferdinand always sleeps in the middle just because Hubert and Dorothea can be all over each other one minute, and suddenly need space the next

It’s not that they don’t like each other, they’re just both A LOT sometimes

Dorothea and Hubert often stay up longer than Ferdinand because they are very avid coffee drinkers

They double team carrying him back to the bedroom if he ends up nodding off at a late night war meeting

One thing to keep in mind is that I also headcanon Hubert as trans

And so he has met Dorothea at an opera in person before Garreg Mach, she just doesn’t recognize him, and he’s gonna let it stay that way

But it was with her that he was introduced to coffee, which sort of helped him through Edelgard’s disappearance (if you count staying up until the crack of dawn to plan ways to rescue her as “help”)

Hubert will never admit that he’s sick because he is devoted to his royal duties

so Dorothea and Ferdinand take turns staying with him to make sure he doesn’t move and fulfilling his duties in his absence

Ferdinand is still very fuCking reckless and hes even more reckless in war so it takes both dark knight!Hubert and gremory!Dorothea (riding on Hubert’s horse usually) to keep great knight!Ferdinand in check

Were you also disappointed that Dorothea wasn’t a theater/opera kid meme? Me too.

Anyway she is. And so is Ferdinand. So they convert Hubert into operakidism and then proceed to annoy the rest of the black eagles endlessly with opera songs and dance numbers

Listen, if u haven’t seen the Manuela/Ferdinand supports,,, like

Manuela is an enabler of the opera kids just saying

also it is no secret that Ferdinand is a horse girl and he ends up turning the other two into horse girls as well and eventually the rest of the black eagles have to ban horses from conversation entirely

Pegasi were already banned from conversation because of Hubert

Eventually the three get married and have a couple kids by mage

They take an annual winter vacation in a small town to rekindle any sparks they might lose in the stress of governance

The Abyss NPC are such a trove of gold for additional worldbuilding tbh 

Everything about the Pagan Lady who I assume is Dagdan breaks my heart

That poor NPC whose family was somehow massacred by nobles “People with crests do whatever they like no one stops them least of all the church”

Mr. Backup died during the timeskip :( But Abysskeeper ends up marrying his older sister in VW and SS

Rodrigue paid for reestablishing the monastery town, even giving money to the ppl in abyss & generally seems to. I guess you see where Dimitri gets that charitable mindset from. Yuri also notes that he’s remarkably uncorruptible. 

Abysskeeper is originally from Derdriu. It#s fun how a lot of his CF and AM dialogue is exactly the same but in different context XD - apart from of course the rodrigue line, and the time Hubert sends a soldier to do some mission there

When you go save Fhirdiad Constance is pretty glad to save the ppl from the school of sorcery and is glad to find them mostly unharmed

Yuri goes into some detail of events right preceding Byleth’s return in AM where the villages near the fronts weren’t sure wether to think of the guy massacring random imperial soldiers as a serial killer or a folk hero

Balthus apparently had a friendly brawl with Dimitri at some point (I guess continuing the tedency of the recruitees in aM to mention having personally interacted with him, at the very least Leonie and Caspar also get lines like that)

Apparently Yuri’s mom got sick sometime during the timeskip (at least in the AM timeline) so he couldn’t evacuate her from Faerghus. 

Constance like Ferdinand, Lorenz & Lysithea is one of those ppl who remember Edelgard in a semi-positive light after her defeat. Kudos to you!

Balthus suspects where Claude ran off to. Well, he was kinda sent there to snoop on him to begin with XD

He never had any hope for the Parlay

Apparently Yuri does have a habit of praying, he’s not like a strooong believer and can’t recite the scriptures much but it’s a habit he picked up from his mom, I guess he would be one of those ‘culturally religious’ people

I just love how Yuri had additional observations on nearly everything like... nothing gets past him. 

Meanwhile in the CF timeline, Balthus apparently thinks Edelgard is hot (which earns him a death glare from Byleth) and thinks the whole Black Eagle strike force should go have a beer to celebrate Byleth’s return since they’re all old enough now and Byleth’s no longer supposed to babysit them

I love how Hubert just flat out takes over Abyss and integrates poor overworked Yuri into his spy networkXD . Hence why Hapi feels he deserves a definite article.  Well, Hubert appreciates how good he is. The mission was to try & convince the Alliance lords to fold so like El & co were actively attempting diplomacy until the end

On CF you see a very omnious NPC who suddenly dissapears if talked to (probably Agarthan) who complains about “that prince being no good” - Did they offer Dimitri their support when they noticed they were definitely losing control of Edelgard? If so he seems to have rebuffed em. It’s a very cryptic line and I can’t rly make heads or tails of it, but, if he wouldn’t sell Rhea out to Edelgard he probably wouldn’t do it for someone even worse no matter what they promised him. 

Apparently in the VW timeline Hapi is a big fan of Judith

Balthus is proud that little Hilda has become an A list schemer

Hearing Claude’s plan makes constance a bit self-conscious about her own being more past-focussed, she’s been out-bolded

Hapi doesn’t know much about Almyra but reflects on how there are many marginalized minority groups in Fodlan including ppl from Isolated communities like her own

Yuri finds the plan a bit lofty & idealistic for his tastes, and also reckless,  but he realizes that he’s got no leg to stand on when it comes to being more noble than he lets on, and that maybe a lil bit of recklessness are what these times need

Oh, once the secret’s out Hapi concludes that there probably would have been war one way or another with the slitherers having everything infiltrated, edelgard or no edelgard

Balthus mentions that Holst wasn’t at Shambhalla because he was “working out things with the Almyrans” and suggest that they warn him about the slitherers lest they sabotage the diplomacy

Apparently Hapi meditates! This comes up cause she trying not to freak out about Nemesis

“People sait it was the church who kept order but actually Yuri’s the one keeping us from complete chaos”

One of the random rogues from Abyss is from the kingdom, claims to be a distant descendant of Fraldarius the Elite and finds “poetic justice” in taking down the empire under Claude. 

Another reaaaaly juicy tidbit is that rogue with another message from Hubert, telling Byleth to bring Rhea with them when they go to Shambhalla. Ensuing that Rhea and Thales would destroy each other.  And reaaaly adds to my conviction that Edelgard and Hubert basically did everyone a huge solid and no one noticed. Well, actually in Verdant wind they Do notice eventually; Its the left hand fighting the right cause everyone has triust issues galore

I didn’t think my love of Hubert could increase further

I always wondered, hm, were they expecting Rhea to self-destruct? Did Claude deliberately plan for it? But I never had enough evidence. especially for team Empire. But I mean Edelgard started this whole war cause Rhea is a danger so, while I get keeping her alive cause the slitherers want her for experiments, why not slit her throat as soon as the imperial palace is surrounded? Why have Hubert return her alive, to win the other faction’s trust? Not their style.

Though the random rogue also says that “Rhea was kept alive as insurance” against the slitherers. 

So it WAS part of the plan. I always did have that feeling, but, I never knew how to articulate it logically and not just intuitively. 

Of course if Byleth went and told Claude about this, Claude’s decision is also clear because he’s not dumb enough to think the empire would care for Rhea’s wellbeing out of the goodness of their heart

Though ultimately she insists on coming along for her own reasons anyways wether Claude is there or not, for plain ol’ revenge. 

Also while reading through the scrpits I realize that I never clicked the “Do you hope [Rhea] is dead?” option when Claude explains his plan. That actually nets you support points and he’s like... “Daangerous question friend”. Really Claude is not “the chill/nice one” he’s so much more interesting than that and I love him

Also I love how the NPCs get different outfits depending on the route! I wish there had been more route-specific aesthetic touches

I am curious; in the captured au, do you think any students could suddenly realize what they've done to byleth and maybe defect? Like they spy on them and see her have a panic attack and they realize the effect they've had on her? Maybe they realize that edelgard knew and kept going and that is the last straw for them. Maybe one of the more emotional characters could probably just be reduced to tears when they see the state teach is in? How would the blue lions, jeralt, dimitri and teach react?

Honestly? I think it’s definitely a possibility. The Black Eagles love Byleth almost as much as they love Edelgard, and some of them would definitely not be able to stomach what they were told they had to do to her. 

I think Dorothea, Bernie, and Caspar would be the most likely three to realize first not only how wrong it was, but how little they could stand to see Byleth slowly losing the light in her eyes, the dewiness of her skin, and the shine in her hair, their once proud and strong Professor becoming shockingly dull and weak before their very eyes. They would be three of the most likely to defect, in my opinion.

Dorothea and Bernie often take shifts together, and spend their time fawning over Byleth, trying to coax her into eating and maybe even taking a bath or letting them brush her hair. Eventually, Byleth just does what they ask with no will to fight them on it, and they can’t help but share a worried glance. As Dorothea goes to help her to the bathtub one day, she makes a comment about how Edie would be coming for a visit soon, and suddenly, Byleth is collapsing and breaking down. Her breath picks up speed, becoming shallow and ragged, and she’s visibly shaking before their eyes just at the mention of Edelgard’s name. Seeing her in such a state, Bernie and Dorothea can feel their hearts breaking. Bernie bursts into tears, crying over how their professor is acting, and Dorothea can’t even bring herself to console Bernie anymore, because she’s so torn up about it, too.  Finally, one day, Byleth just stares at a wall. She doesn’t put up a fight, she just no longer has the will or strength to move, even if she wanted to. Dorothea and Bernie can’t decide if that’s better or worse than her breaking down, but either way, they’re not okay with it anymore.

Caspar hears about what happened from Dorothea, and if he didn’t know it would mean his death, Caspar would have gone to Edelgard directly to yell at her about how wrong this is, about how lifeless and dull their once vibrant professor is becoming because of them, how Byleth is wasting away into nothing because she refuses to eat as long as she’s trapped in that room, and how she panics just at the sound of Edelgard’s name. Instead, he rants to Linhardt, who attempts to console him, instead only finding himself feeling worse and worse every day the more he hears, until the day Caspar tells him how Byleth has stopped responding to anyone entirely, and hardly moves at all, almost as if she were made of stone. That thought, for some reason, hits him worse than anything else, leaving him feeling so sick to his stomach that he physically throws up his dinner.

Petra, as strong as she is, also understands what it feels like to be held captive by the Empire. Unlike Petra, however, Byleth has no freedom in her captivity, and that is something I don’t think Petra could abide by, even for Edelgard. The only reason she puts up with it in the beginning is because Edelgard is the only thing standing between Brigid and the Imperial army, but if she secured protections from either of the other houses for Brigid, I wouldn’t be surprised if this would be the thing that leads to her defecting, because seeing Byleth wither away to nothing isn’t something Petra can stand to see when she could do something about it to secure freedom, for both Byleth and herself.

Ferdinand would be a toss-up, but even he might consider defecting after seeing how far Byleth has fallen because of the Black Eagles. He’d spend a lot of time trying to justify it, though, so I don’t know if he’d end up being willing to defect. 

Hubert absolutely wouldn’t defect over this. He wanted to kill Byleth in the first place, so he wouldn’t mind watching her descend into darkness until she finally submits and accepts her place in Edelgard’s grand plans.

Assuming everyone except Hubert and Ferdinand defects, and they manage to take Byleth with them, the Blue Lions would be extremely wary, to the point that Felix might even openly make an attack on them until they express that they want to willingly hand over Byleth and defect entirely, realizing how horrible everything Edelgard has done to Byleth has been. 

What finally wins their trust? Seeing Dorothea, Bernie, Caspar, Lin, and Petra looking at Byleth with guilt-ridden, sorrowful eyes as they tell them what happened while Byleth was in the tower. Not a single one of them can tell their part in the story without at least tearing up. Bernie full-out bawls, and Lin ends up making himself sick again while expressing how horrible he feels about how they’ve all treated Byleth at Edelgard’s orders. 

Dimitri is furious for Byleth, and is more than ready to wage war against Edelgard with renewed fervor. The moment Byleth is in his arms, he refuses to let her go to anyone else except her father. Jeralt is even more furious, and is more than prepared to kill anyone who so much as looks at Byleth wrong. He takes to guarding her room every single night to make sure she’s safe.

Eventually, Byleth slowly starts to return to her old self over time, and while she’s still somewhat wary of the now defected Black Eagle strike force, she’s still grateful to them for getting her out of there, and for bringing her home where she belongs. As she forgives them, so does everyone around them, almost as if everyone had been waiting for her cue to do so.

There’s too many characters for me to be able to write a good Discord chat-style fic for the Three Frat Houses AU, but if I were to write one, the plot would be like:

It is winter break for Garreg Mach University. A server has been created for everyone in the frats, plus some other friends, to keep in touch while they are all away from campus. Approximately 55% of the gang immediately stake their sanities on this group chat while they are forced to live at home with their families for four weeks. Major plots that the chat all comment on include these:

Hubert has been forced to return to his father’s house for the first time in -checks notes- two or three years? Hubert’s been AWOL for a few years, before he showed up at university, and his father insists that he come home or else he’s going to be cut off from the family bank account and written out of the will. Hubert now has to survive four weeks with his father, who he hates, or else all of the frats will be out of their primary source of financing, which is Hubert just buying shit for anyone who asks him because he hates his father and this is his father’s money.

Leonie is a key fighter in the battle of “stop Hubert from murdering his father because we need Hubert’s credit card”, because she’s broke and works part-time as a barista and Hubert tips her $50 in cash every time she makes one of his 12-shots-of-espresso crime against the goddess drinks, and she has no desire to lose that stable source of income. Also, Leonie spends three of the four weeks of break on the road in her camper, because she got sick of her family asking her how her degree is coming and what she’s going to do with it and when she’s going to get a real good job with it, so she took her camper and drove out to pick up Lorenz and now they’re on a road trip across Fodlan seeing how many of their friends they can visit and also trying not to kill each other while stuck in a small space for three weeks. (Lorenz got fed up with his father shittalking all of his friends. Lorenz is allowed to dunk on Claude, and more than allowed is required to, but his father saying a single bad word about Claude or the Reigans is a mortal offense that Lorenz cannot stand for, so when Leonie was like “hey I’m going on the road” Lorenz was like “I am begging you to take me with you.”)

Meanwhile, Dorothea is the only one of the Adrestians really having a good time on break because she went with Petra back to Brigid. Caspar is really ambivalent on being home; Linhardt is mad that he’s being deprived of GMU’s library; Hubert’s situation has been described above. Ferdinand contributes mostly to the chat with messages like “Just got in another political argument with my father” (Dorothea sends :thumbs-up emoji:). Bernadetta has barely left her room since she got home and she’s subsisting mostly on takeout passed to her through her window in the dead of night by Ferdinand or Yuri. (Dorothea: “why is Yuri in Enbarr?” Yuri: “don’t worry about it”). Occasionally she climbs out her window to spend a night out on the city with Hubert and Ferdinand.

Meanwhile, up in Faerghus, Rodrigue has found himself with care of five college students, none of whom are his own son. Felix is staying in Fhirdiad with Annette, because Felix hates his dad and didn’t want to go home. Meanwhile, Edelgard was supposed to go spend this break with her mother in Fhirdiad, but she and Dimitri quickly decided that they did not really want to spend all that time at home and they and Dedue all fucked off to Rodrigue’s house. Sylvain offered Mercedes to come stay with his family because she didn’t want to stay at the frat house by herself and then on the drive up Sylvain’s like “haha wait my family sucks, let’s just go to Felix’s place” and so they do. Felix didn’t know that Sylvain was going to do this and then the group gets pictures of Mercedes and Sylvain going out horseback riding and Felix is like “wait those are my dad’s horses, why are you at my dad’s house”, and then in the passenger seat of Dimitri’s car, Dedue is reading this off like “wait, Felix is not even at his house, are we still going?” and Edelgard’s like “Felix not being there is one of the perks of going to Felix’s house” and Dimitri’s like “That is very rude but I guess in some manner you are still correct” and then later Rodrigue is making a grocery list for the fact that his house now has two 20-somethings back in it for four weeks and he looks out the window to see Dimitri’s car coming up the driveway and he just like. sighs. and doubles the amount of everything on the shopping list.

Byleth does not have any social media at all and she is not part of the chat. Any updates about what she’s doing on her break come in the form of Flayn posting the pictures that Byleth emails her of large fish that she and Jeralt have caught. Byleth may be spending the entirety of the break on several successive fishing trips. Go figure. Flayn is stuck at Garreg Mach and is very upset about having made friends only for them all to be gone, and she’s living vicariously through everyone demanding pictures of what they’re up to even if it’s boring.

All characters not mentioned may be inferred to be having a very normal break and every time they come back to the server to find like 120+ messages since they’ve been away for an hour but not a single one of those 120+ messages is anything that can be in any way construed as good. Hubert and Ferdinand are Bernadetta’s shoulder devil/angel trying to convince her that patricide is good/bad, actually. Felix has somehow ended up back at his own house because Annette wanted to visit Mercedes there. Claude sent a video of himself falling off the back of a wild wyvern and the person taking the video just laughs instead of trying to help him. (It was Nader.) The only indication that Claude is alive at the end of it is that from where he’s lying on the ground he just sticks up his arm and gives a thumbs-up. Yuri asked who might hypothetically be willing to pay bail for him without asking any questions, in case it comes to that.

On the side, there are recurring subplots of other standard server nonsense. Someone is called out for using light mode. Bernadetta is seen playing Stardew Valley for 20 hours straight. Everyone is always yelling at each other about time zones and who’s supposed to be asleep at some point (often and especially regarding Dorothea and Petra in Brigid, and Claude in Almyra, but also why does Linhardt only message at 3 am). Felix and Bernadetta want to know how the campus cats are doing and Flayn sends blurry photos. Someone is always complaining about the weather in Faerghus and Edelgard is going to freeze to death one of these days.

Anyway yeah, that’s what I’d write if I hated myself to try and wrestle like, it would be at least twenty characters? into one long chat fic. But while I make poor choices in what I decide to write, I don’t hate myself this much.

Also, how would Jeralt react realizing f!Byleth holds romantic feelings towards Claude and vice versa? (You don't have to answer that last one if I'm being too greedy)

Black Eagles

With how much Edelgard respects and likes the professor, she was a bit upset to see Jeralt walk in

She kinda hoped Byleth would walk in right after but alas, they did not.

Hubert was, well, thankful. He didn’t like how close Edelgard and Byleth were so them being apart was... good.

Lindhart was asleep. Except had a horrible wake up call with a book being slammed next to his head by the blade breaker himself

Caspar just wanted to test his strength against Jeralt. Sure he missed the professor but uh this was the legendary Jeralt.

Dorothea wanted to bring the professor some tea after class. After all they had done so much for the Black Eagles it was only fair that she would return the favor

Ferdinand von Aegir said to Jeralt, “I am Ferdinand von Aegir”

Ferdinand was excited to see who Jeralt thought was better. Him or Edelgard. He’s also make a mental note to bring the professor tea later.

Bernadetta, more than ever, wished she could run back to her room. Sure she liked the professor and was concerned for them, but Jeralt was scary!

Petra wished so dearly Brigid ingredients were easily accessible in Foldan. She knew a really good recipe for knocking the sickness right out of someone. But, she also couldn’t deny that these teachings from Jeralt would be a valuable experience.

Blue Lions

Dimitri would be WORRIED SICK at first. After all his Professor was so ill that they couldn’t even come to class.

He’d pester Jeralt on their condition but Jeralt would just tell him to sit down and not worry about Byleth. They’d get better.

Mercedes was also questioning Jeralt about Byleth’s condition. Explaining that she could easily help them recover.

Jeralt heaved out a sigh, letting her know other healers were already doing that... Healers who weren’t students. 

Dedue was more concerned about Dimitri. Though he did hope their professor would recover soon. He liked their teachings.

Sylvain... he would be upset considering their professor was so nice to look at but Jeralt... well, sure he was someone’s type but just not Sylvain’s.

Ingrid was excited to learn from him. Maybe even learn about some of Jeralt and Byleth’s days as mercenaries from the legendary Blade Breaker himself. 

Felix was excited to test his blade against Jeralt. That’s really all he cared about.

Annette was curious to dive deeper into the past life of Byleth. They were so quiet about their personal life but maybe just maybe she could squeeze something out of Jeralt.

Ashe... Oh when he heard that the professor was sick? He had tentatively raised his hand to ask if they were okay. Ashe knew what it was like to be very sick or around someone who was very sick. After all, he never really had the money to cure those illnesses quickly.

Golden Deer

Leonie would immediately punch who was ever next to her when Jeralt walked through the room. 

She was just really excited

Ignatz was a little afraid of Jeralt considering how strong he was supposed to be...

Marianne didn’t seem to have a preference either way, her head stayed down as per usual.

Hilda seemed a little upset. Byleth usually didn’t care if she slacked off so long as she got her work done and she wasn’t sure if Jeralt would be the same

Raphael was the one Leonie punched. He was too busy rubbing his arm at the pain that she managed to inflict on him to really care about Jeralt

Lysithea was also fairly excited... Partially cause she was quite curious about their mysterious professor. They were so young yet everyone treated them as though they were Jeralt’s age. She wanted to know their secret. 

Lorenz... well.. so long as what Jeralt taught them was noble he didn’t mind... But considering how their teacher fought he didn’t have high hopes.

Lastly, Claude. Oh Claude was a little upset. After all he wanted to see Byleth that day. He had a gift to give them. 

But no matter... He could also pester Jeralt about where Byleth came from and what’s their whole story... After all they barely seemed to know what their origin was either

After class, Claude had walked up to Jeralt, wanting to know how sick they were.

“They’re pretty bad. I’m checking in on them but you shouldn’t unless you want to get sick.”

Claude huffed, extending out his hand to hand Jeralt the gift and a letter (that he wrote in class), “Could you give this to them? Just let them know it’s from me.”

Claude then walked away leaving Jeralt dumbfounded as he stared at what looked to be a promise ring in the palm of his hand.

there aren’t any text files for unique dialogue (be it eating together or doing group tasks), but i did take some time to go through all possible support pairs and found a nice 28 pairs of unique dialogue in my save files! i typed them all up below c:

i’ve heard some pairs change dialogue once they reach certain support levels (e.g. annette/mercedes has different lines for c/no rank vs. b rank), but i can’t really confirm that. if it also makes any difference, all of these lines are from before the timeskip

(i’m also assuming that the same 28 pairs would have unique dialogue for tasks, but again, i can’t confirm at the moment. i’ll look at it later!)

FE3H Playthrough Log

My notes of my progress while playing FE3H. Originally written in my notebook. Still haven’t finished writing this either..

1st Playthrough

Chose Black Eagles (intending to woo over Edelgard) as F!Byleth then immediately got distracted by the hotness that is Seteth...So wound up going Silver Snow with no additional recruit-able characters. Went into my over-raising perfectionist complex and wound up maxing everything I could.

F!Byleth, Petra, Bernie, Dorothea, Caspar, Lindhardt, Ferdinand, Flayn, Seteth, Catherine, and Shamir were all S+ Maxxed out on EVERY SINGLE SKILL with EVERY SINGLE CLASS MASTERED (minus a few of the dark mage/dark bishop classes due to lack of dark seals). Completed all support conversations with all of these characters to the max level. 

Chose Seteth for my ending.

Total Time for this playthrough: 144 hours...

2nd Playthrough

Chose M!Byleth this time (and immediately realized his female counterpart is superior) and then Blue Lions. After realizing I liked NONE of the students, I set my sights on my fishy dragon queen Flayn :). Recruited every recruit-able character from GD & BE BEFORE we got to the Gronder Field battle. Then obsessed over support conversations again. Recruited all character I could. Completed all  all support conversations with all of these characters to the max level (only lacked Claude, Edelgard, Jeritza, and Hubert).

Chose Flayn for my ending then realized I could spam the last maps over & over again to choose a different ending (since I had made a new save before choosing Flayn). Went on to do the S rank (Male) endings for Catherine, Gilbert, Alois, and Manuela before I had a memory lapse and accidentally erased the pre-choice file...

Total Time in this playthrough: 100 hours...

Total time spent in Fe3H: 244 hours

3rd Playthrough

After making the mistake above (see last paragraph) and realizing I still had to do a whole bunch of BL endings with the girls before I could never use them again, I decided to redo my last playthrough with M!Byleth and BL house...and try to speed through it as just Byleth...I am bad at this and prone to battle quest for hours to level up skills...

But powered through and wound up doing M!Byleths endings with Ingrid, Annette, Mercedes, Lindhardt, Petra, Dorothea, Bernadetta, Shamir, Leonie, Marianne, Lysithia, and Sothia.

Total Time in this playthrough: 11 hours

Total time spent in Fe3H: 255 hours

4th Playthrough

By this time I am SICK of BL house...and I never want to deal with Dimitri again...so naturally I became F!Byleth to finish off BL for once and all! Again, attempting to speed through as just Byleth with some support. I have practice this time - it should go easier!

Nope, I’m wrong! Somehow I’m even slower this time... But I got done F!Byleths endings with Lindhardt, Dorothea, Ferdinand, Caspar, Mercedes, Sylvain, Felix, Dedue, Dimitri, Ashe, Lorenz, Raphael, Ignatz, Alois, Gilbert, and Hannerman. Maybe b/c I sped through most of the dialog but oddly Sothis was NOT an ending option here...weird.

For those keeping track, I’ve basically done every ending I can do except route specific ones (Edelgard, Claude, Hubert, Rhea, Jeritza). I also have ALL the support conversations done between all characters that DO NOT involve one of the 5 characters above...

5th Playthrough

So I finally decided to tackle Golden Deer this time. I chose F!Byleth since I need Claude’s ending. I only recruited the characters that Claude has outside interactions with and focused on a team of GDs. Obviously I was much slower.

I finished F!Byleth’s Claude ending (again no Sothis) in a little over 23 hours. Realizing I still needed Claude’s support conversations with M!Byleth I booted up a new file and played the first 20 or so minutes (until you arrive at your room) and bought Claude’s supports for M!Byleth. I then went back to my file from my first playthrough (SS) and realized I HAD SAVED before the final map...unfortunately the only character I needed from that list was F!Byleth’s Sothis ending so I spent about 20-30 minutes finishing up the last map in SS again to get that.

Total time spent in Fe3H: 295 hours

6th & 7th Playthroughs

By now all I need is BE Routes. If I play as F!Byleth, I can finish all 3 S Endings for Crimson Flower. But I still need Rhea’s ending...as both F & M Byleth. So I hatch my plan! CF doesn’t split off until Chapter 11. So, I’ll play BE house, recruit all the characetrs I need to finish Edelgard’s & Hubert’s conversations and then, at the start of chapter 11, I’ll split my save into 2 files. One will go SS for Rhea and the other I’ll then play as CF! Genius! And, if this works, I should be able to go back into a new file as M!Byleth and just play the first 20 minutes & buy the support conversations. This will allow me to finish M!Byleth’s Edelgard, Hubert, and Jeritza (and hopefully Rhea too). Hopefully....I’ve never bought a S-Rank before so hoping this works!

Spent 12 hours in part 1 up to chapter 11 (307 total playthrough hours). I raised the whole team to about level 30 & finished most of their requirements for their master classes. Figured it was easier to do it before the split and then have to not worry too much afterwards....

Decided to finally do Crimson Flower. And it went quick. After only 7 hours I finished Crimson Flower with F!Byleth’s endings for Hubert, Jeritza, and Edelgard. I quickly went into a new game & played the first 10 minutes to access the support logs and bought M!Byleth’s support conversations and endings with Edelgard and Hubert. But Jeritza’s doesn’t exist...until PTS. Which means I’ll need to do an 8th playthrough as M!Byleth in Crimson Flower.....

But for now, I’ll go back and finish SS! All I need is Rhea’s ending...but I have to level up Seteth so he can join the fun! I sped through most of SS...although this bit me in the ass for the final map. Only 5 hours to Rhea ending. Then it was easy to go into a new BE file & buy M!Byleth’s Rhea ending.

Total Time in this playthrough: 12 hours (part 1) + 7 hours (Crimson Flower) + 5 hours (Silver Snow)

Total time spent in Fe3H: - 319 hours.

8th Playthrough

Well, as stated above I can’t buy Jeritza’s supports until they become available which is post time skip.... so I need to do another BE M!Byleth run. I only need to make it to the point where Jeritza joins so just basically to PTS. Given that, I only need to really raise M!Byleth and Edelgard slightly as she’s a required unit on some maps. So speed through the beginning again....for the last time.

NOPE! WRONG! You cannot buy Jeritza’s supports apparently even if you own the counterpart supports ((FYI this works on every other character in the game except for him, so....)) ...so I now need to PLAY THROUGH to the end of CF! This fricking sucks. I now have to grind up the rest of my team (who are all level 20ish) to 40 b/c doing the final two maps with just Byleth is near impossible. Great! Wonderful! Insert another 11 hours!

Total Time in this playthrough: 11 hours...((for those curious this was 5 hours pretime skip & 6 hours post time skip))

Total time spent in Fe3H: - 330 hours! 

...and that does it for now....until I decide to tackle the DLC!

But this is FULL COMPLETION! Every Byleth S support done for both genders and all support conversations between every unit done.
