At your insistence, a mix of joy and then anger contorts her eyes, tears building in one of them. “You better not be lying to me! If ever there was anyone that deserved a happy ending among us, it’s her! Never have I seen anyone go through so much that they were so ready to die like her. She seemed almost relieved when she learned her death could fix this Worldwound mess! Stupid, selfish, reckless! …Kind and generous and beautiful Xer…”

The anger rolls off her and she wipes the tears from her scaled cheek.

“We were… are… we’re so alike in that regard, you know? Staying stoic and strong but it’s all act when you’re dying inside and just want it to end. I see her as… as like a funhouse mirror, as silly as that sounds. We’re so alike that the reflection is recognizable: our childhoods and what we’ve gone through just being what we are… how fiercely we protect what’s right and fix any wrongs… the stubbornness and refusal to rest… and our taste in men, of course!” She chuckles a little, sniffling.

“We’re even both kind of paradoxes, aren’t we? Her being the most morose and miserable azata I’ve ever seen to me being the peppiest and humane aeon she has ever seen. A oni-spawn wreathed in butterflies and the ganzi clad in blackened plate…”

She seems wistful as she trails off. “If she’s alive then I hope she finds peace and love where she never has to wield a blade again. She deserves it.”

And one last aside, she mutters under her breath. “I miss her cooking.”

a conversation in the caverns between wenduag and alaunius[my commander] a missing conversation that would have happened if alaun was 5% less lawful good and voiced to wenduag exactly why they were short with cameillas father. still not 100% on the stoic-ness level of alaun so this is semi cannon. also i finished the maze but that was a few hours ago, this is more script than fully fleshed out prose and ive only played 4.5 hours so eh on characterization.

It's so weird to be playing a version of Elluin that's not going down a nightmare spiral in act 5

ik 'areelu kidnapped kc and altered their soul when they were a child' is like, What The Game Says, but imo it works better if kc was a defeated soldier on the brink of death, areelu experimenting on them is why theyre still alive

also with an adult kc you get a neat little parallel with [areelu = qlippoth sire], [kc = doomed mortal mother], [vc = qlippoth-spawn]. areelu bids kc to re-womb her child, even if they're not aware of it and it will inevitably kill them. and the noncon aspect is hot, regardless of whether it's just soul science or Sexual Implications

i find it interesting how by having you fight the summoned demons, areelu is putting kc in HER position of protecting her child

and from the ending where she sees herself/her child in kc, she's willing to sacrifice herself for her child... she is on some level asking kc to do the same. hoping that they would, that they can, once they know what they carry inside
