(i'm going to answer these two together because they broadly overlap 💛)

1. book you've re-read the most times?

had to have a long think, but I think it's probably fear and loathing in las vegas by hunter s. thompson. I read it over and over again as a teenager, because the prose was so starkly different to anything I'd read before.

5. where do you buy books?

I mostly buy secondhand! oxfam charity shops in the UK are brilliant for books, but if I'm looking for something specific, i'll order it online from abebooks or worldofbooks. sometimes I'll buy something brand new from waterstones, as a treat.

14. do you ever mark / dogear the books you own?

it's controversial, but I absolutely abuse books that I love. I'll dogear, make annotations, highlight, underline, scribble my thoughts. these annotations are incredibly precious to me <3 books that are particularly interesting or particularly difficult get the most amount of markings.

19. most disliked popular books?

I can't stand anything related to "booktok" - those horrible, mass-produced romance books that are thinly veiled fanfiction rip-offs.

eBay- staple, have to look out for resellers tho.

DeCluttr- VERY cheap. Like mcr and fall out boy for <6. Good. Waiting on my order from them tho so cant comment on shipping and such

ThriftBooks- kinda expensive but you can get new copies here too. There is also vinyl tho !!

WorldOfBooks- good! They know how to price stuff tho so it’s gonna be about equal to what you would get on like ebay and such

Depop- this can be finniky just bc some ppl like. Dont check their CDs? Or they don’t ship them properly. I had one show up just in like a thin bag you’d ship like a shirt in so the front was very broken.

May I recommend the children's book version? I used to be a nanny, and the kiddo LOVED Who's On First, but he was an early reader and always did better with things in print. So after he loved the recording, I got him this and he insisted on doing the bit with me every day for a week.

Thriftbooks and half-price books ship internationally but it's expensive and takes forever if you're not in the States, wonderbooks is less time shipping internationally but it's still 12 dollars. Better World has UK and US facilities and crucially even international shipping seems to be free from both!

Unfortunately I don't know about websites from anywhere else, but in the UK at least, Worldofbooks and Musicmagpie are some of the best places to buy second-hand (I use WOB constantly and it generally has free shipping options even for just one-book orders).

Also, Hive allows you to buy books online from independent high-street bookshops through their website, it's easy to use, cheap, and you're supporting local shops.
