A Really Easy and Fun Devotional Act to Hermes
I hope this hasn't been said before, but!
Postcrossings.
This is a website I've used ever since I was a kid (like since 2013). You just send strangers postcards around the world, and get postcards from around the world back. I've got a scrapbook FILLED with these- USA, Britain, Germany, Japan, Taiwan...everywhere!
You get out of it what you put in- essentially you get more in the mail the more postcards you send. It's fairly inexpensive, and REALLY satisfying when you start getting postcards from countries you haven't even heard of. I've gotten to the point where I've made pen-pals and learned a few words of other languages just from meeting people on the site.
So why not use the old pen-and-paper way of sending messages to honour the messenger god himself (and learn a little more about the world in the process)? It makes everyone's day better!
#i really hope no ones posted about this before omg#like i think i rlly did something and someones just like.#“oh Skarlitt thats standard for hermes devotees” SKSFHIGKKFTKXDJ#hermes!#hermes devotion#hermes devotee#hermes worship#hermes deity#hellenic pagan#hellenic polytheism#hellenism#hellenic deities#hellenic worship#hellenic#helpol

list 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers (no pressure of course :3)
1. Reading- between published books and fanfiction, I’ve gotten so much enjoyment from reading. It’s always been a safe way for me to disconnect and relax
2. Renaissance Festivals- if you’ve never been to one, you need to! Even if you don’t dress up, just going is so amazing. From seeing the costumes to the shows to the food. It’s a place where people are just authentically themselves
3. Tea- I’ve never liked coffee, but I’ve grown a love for teas. From chai to black tea to sleepytime tea. Sitting down with a cup of tea is the perfect way to start my day, and the perfect way to wind down at night
3. Sending postcards- I cannot recommend Postcrossing enough. Something about sending physical mail in the digital age is so rewarding. And being able to learn about people from all over the world?? Such a bonus. It’s fun to take a moment away from everything and write a postcard
4. My pets- I’ve got one dog and two cats and I love them like my children. But specifically my black cat is my baby. He is everything to me. Animals make being at home a little less lonely, and I love them for being with me.
5. My friends and family- LOVE THEM ALL!! My family is small, but if anything it makes me feel more connected to them. And of course my friends. I’m lucky enough to have found a friend group who I can truly be myself with. That’s not something I ever really had when I was younger. I love them to the moon and back<3

Smöl Shop Üpdate🥺🫶 (Link in Bio!)
Was so happy to drop off a few orders at the post office yesterday☺️💌 I’ve really missed writing little notes and stuff👉👈, since I rarely get to send physical mail these days. After the pandemic hit, I got a Postcrossing account and started sending and receiving postcards from people all over the world. As a very introverted, shy person back then, it felt sort of like my tether to the world.
Anyways, Asexual Gayze is low-in m-stock.⚠️🖤🤍💜 #asexual #asexualart #transartist #queershop #queerart #queerartist #supportqueerbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #supporttransartists #linocut #lino #linocutart #linoldruck #linoprint #linocutart #linocutartist #printmaker #printmaking #druckgrafik #druckgrafiker #viennaart #viennaartist

Hi Cossette! Happy holidays season and I hope you're doing well 💖 It's been quite a while (since the last full length ask), but I've attended London Night 1 (June 21st) of The Eras Tour this year :D
It's unbelievable that it's nearly 6 months ago that I went to Eras Tour, but I was pleasantly surprised about the surprise songs at the show! I thought the Hits Different x DBATC mashup was really good! How about you? Which surprise songs did you get at Eras Tour?
As of books, I also had a bit of a reading block in the summer but I've slowly got my grooves back last month. Lately I've enjoyed:
Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett
Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable
Tidal Creatures by Seanan McGuire
I've also recently got around doing some Christmas book shopping and hope to read:
The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong
The Last Hour Between Worlds by Melissa Caruso
And I'm currently readingThe Scholar and the Last Faerie Door by H.G. Parry, so it feels nice to catch up with some fantasy book releases!
And how about you, which books have you been revisiting / enjoying lately?
P.S. As a belated birthday gift, I've made a Laufey Bewitched edit & I hope you enjoy 💖
jennifer!! hello my friend!! i hope you've been doing well too and having a lovely holiday season 🤍
i'm so glad you enjoyed your surprise songs! i loved mine too — most recently i got haunted x wonderland, and the best day x never grow up! i think if i had to rank my surprise songs it'd be: the best day x never grow up = tied together with a smile > haunted x wonderland > message in a bottle > everything has changed > this is why we can't have nice things!!
i have not had a very good reading year, admittedly. there's been a lot going on + with me no longer book blogging/bookstagramming, i've found myself lacking in discipline to read in the way i used to (i still managed a fair amount of books this year, just that this is my lowest reading year since i graduated from grad school). i've been meaning to pick up the new emily wilde — and actually, recommended it to a fellow postcrossing buddy a few weeks back! (postcrossing is a very fun postcard sending/receiving website, and they give you a random person with a profile; my person really loved fairies and reading, so i recommended them emily wilde & sent them a fun themed postcard)
the teller of small fortunes looks right up my alley; you'll have to let me know what you think of it! and i most recently (finally) finished my (two year long) the starless sea reread/annotation project for my friend (it didn't actually take two years; i just kept putting it off)! i'm currently rereading and annotating alice's adventures in wonderland for my best friend who loves it as one of her christmas presents from me, and also audiobooking wicked! i'm about to start a new (very lengthy, very time consuming) craft, so i believe i'll be audiobooking many many books in the upcoming few weeks!
the edit is BEAUTIFUL, thank you so much 🤍 are you listening to any new music lately? what were your favorite 2024 new albums?

**SHARED**
Not many people receive random postcards these days... so it can really brighten someone's day! You may not have time to write a full letter - or even know what to say - but you can say in a few lines that you're thinking of someone. It's fun to see someone's real handwriting once in a while and not just the digital text from an e-mail! Where does one acquire postcards? Just keep your eyes out, and you will start to see them! Obviously, tourist shops will have them, but so do bookstores and even stores like Walgreens sometimes have them. I have a *ton* of them, so if you are TRULY hard up for postcards and sincerely want to send some but have NO POSTCARDS, then fine, I will share. You can reply to this message with your mailing address and I will send you some blank postcards to get started with. (But you better send them for realsies!) And if you really want to get into it, I recommend Postcrossing. Send and receive postcards to/from random people around the world! Introvert heaven.
-DK
pro-tip: if your post office only offers you boring stamps, you can always buy them directly from the USPS website, or find lots of interesting older stamps on eBay!
❤ Share the love! Forward this nugget to a friend, and if they want their own nuggets, they can subscribe at https://drkimsf.com/dailynugget 📬

What Are the Different Types of Snail Mail?
Snail mail refers to physical letters, postcards, and other paper correspondence sent via the post office. Individuals pay to have these pieces of mail delivered by affixing postage stamps, and the cost varies depending on where the mail is being sent and how heavy it is. These postal services can be public or private, and they may deliver items locally or internationally.
The term “snail mail” is a reference to the slower speed of traditional postal mail compared to digital communications like email. Often, it takes days for a piece of snail mail to reach its destination, whereas an e-mail or text can be instantaneously delivered.
This is not to say that snail mail is obsolete, as many people still find it meaningful to receive paper communication from friends and loved ones. In fact, snail mail has made a comeback in recent years, with platforms like PenPal World and PostCrossing connecting people from all over the world to send and receive physical mail each other.
In addition, businesses have found the use of snail mail to be an effective marketing tool for their brand. For example, sending customized, handwritten thank-you notes to clients or potential customers can help build long-term relationships and improve sales. Similarly, offering an upfront CTA in your snail mail improves conversion rates. In the end, it is all about making your mailings as personal as possible so that your recipient will be more inclined to respond to your call-to-action.

TG characters & weird/mundane things that I've done this week
Naki has sort of(?) befriended a guy he thought was (possibly) stalking him. After a 90minute conversation, Naki decided to give the dude the benefit of the doubt. He doesn't seem that bad, even if he lurks around outside his home, follows him, and has a name only Shuu could enjoy. What could go wrong?
Rize hit the fucking jackpot and found a load of books that were on her tbr. And guess what? THEY WERE FREE.
Mr Yoshimura signed up to PostCrossing a couple of months ago, and received his first postcard! It's from the other side of the world, and is so pretty and thoughtful, with beautiful penmanship. It's nice to get something other than bills.
"That is NOT me", Nishiki says angrily when someone tells him he is exactly like the brother from Halloween Town.
Shuus' caffeine addiction finally paid off: he earned a "free" drink on his rewards thing...and promptly gave it to Chie after seeing it was a PSL.
Hinami bought some sparkly crystals ✨
Ayato was finally starting to enjoy the weather before a freak hot-day rocked up unexpectedly. He kept his hoodie on to fucking spite them.
Koma persuaded Irimi to watch AHS' Coven to kick off spooky season.
Uta found and bought a Furby from a thrift shop to add to his collection. Because... Of course he did.
This week has been really, really weird 😐

World Postcard Day
October 1 is the World Postcard Day! I love postcards and this blog started years ago as a way to show off my Soviet postcard collection :)
To celebrate, I'll be sending some postcards through Postcrossing - I haven't done that in a long time and I'm very excited.
Happy Postcard Day to all postcard lovers out there! 💌️📬
