Conway Castle and town walls are a true Medieval construction. Dating from between 1283 and 1289, they were built by King Edward i of England as part of his conquest of this area. Today they are well preserved and form part of a World Heritage Site along with other castles constructed in the same campaign.

The Coliseum was an amphitheater built in the 1st century AD. C. in the time of the Roman Empire, at the time of the Flavia Dynasty and , It was located in the center of the city of Rome.
His name changed from “Anfiteatro Flavio” to “Colosseum” because there was a large bronze statue located next to the entrance called Domus Aurea, the Coloso of Nerón; this statue unfortunately has not reached our time.
This building was declared a World Heritage Site in 1980 by Unesco and one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World on July 7, 2007.

UNESCO world heritage sites in the Catalan Countries 11/12: La Llotja de la Seda de València
Built between 1482 and 1533, this group of buildings was originally used for trading in silk (hence its name, the Silk Exchange) and it has always been a centre for commerce. It is a masterpiece of late Gothic architecture. The grandiose Sala de Contractació (Contract or Trading Hall), in particular, illustrates the power and wealth of a major Mediterranean mercantile city in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Less damage to ancient Palmyra than feared, Syrian antiquities chief says
Tumblr media
Damage to the World Heritage site of Palmyra by Islamic State militants may be less than earlier believed, Syria's antiquities chief said on Friday.
Maamoun Abdulkarim told Reuters that video from Palmyra after it was recaptured by the Syrian army has shown less damage than archaeologists feared when pictures emerged at the beginning of the year suggesting Islamic State had smashed more monuments.
Under heavy Russian air cover, the Syrian army and allied militias drove the jihadist group out of the UNESCO world heritage site on Thursday, two months after they had seized it in a surprise advance.
Fears of a new assault on Palmyra's heritage were raised after pictures in January showed the group had destroyed parts of the Tetrapylon, one of the city's most iconic monuments, and the facade of the second-century Roman Theatre. Read more.
