Trendy Anklets for Women in World Culture Festival Amidst the myriad hues and sounds at the World Culture Festival, trendy anklets stand out, not by overpowering but by gently harmonizing with their surroundings. At any festival, amidst the riot of colors and symphony of sounds, let your sterling silver anklets be a whisper of your individuality.

Easy to forget the EDAs are fanfiction that got published but don't fear, The Scarlet Empress is here to remind you
#I don't mean this in a bad way to be clear#but I mean its title is taken from a work of pop culture that out of context fits the vibe#and I mean it is incredibly self-referential beyond simple callbacks (I do love it when Jo gets mentioned)#and it's very meta in a way which canon can sometimes be but fanworks are more frequently#(then again maybe that's the copious amount of Mechanisms fanfiction I've written talking. you start off putting guys in situations and the#you start thinking about how those guys cannot survive outside these constructed situations. anyway)#and it's also “Hey what if we put the Eighth Doctor in a pulp fantasy world”#also “guy who's only read Dradin in Love reading about a city that decends into violence in a festival one night of each year” Getting real#Dradin In Love vibes from this one

People from Berga (Comarques Gironines, Catalonia) jump and sing to celebrate the beginning of their city's most beloved festivities: the Patum.
Held annually on the week of Corpus Christi, the oldest written document that talks about Berga's Patum dates from the year 1454. The celebration is based on the same elements as other Catalan traditional festivities called festes majors, which include tradicional dance, music, "giants" figures, bestiary, and demons fire dances.

It feels like people really forget sometimes that Shuriki has been ruling for 41 years, there are two generations that have grown up under her and have no idea what life looked like before she came
#Personal#*Avalor under Shuriki*#The biggest port in the whole EverRealm#Merchants arrive from over the world to trade there#Therefore Shuriki is bad#…#I mean yes she erased their culture#their national identity#And THIS is what bad#Not that she’s an evil sorceress#She wasn’t even violent she just sat at the throne and gained power#She literally didn’t care about people#Which means she neither thought about them nor harmed them#Thanks to Esteban life in Avalor wasn’t that terrible#The young generations like Gabe’s have NO reason to hate her#This is how they got used to live because they had NOTHING to compare with#Unless their parents were some rebels but this is unlikely if you care about your child’s safety#You cannot tell me that every single Avaloran hated her#There’s been SUCH strong propaganda under her it literally can’t work like that#Why would young generations care about festivals and music if they never experienced it?#There’s no way I’m saying Shuriki is nice of course not#But c’mon guys let’s be realistic#Even if we take Gabe into account#Do you really want to tell me that he had anything against her?#When he was a kid and a young teen?#With absolutely non-rebellious parents?#Yes Mateo is different because he learnt magic and was literally breaking the law so of course he treated Shuriki differently#But the majority of Avaloran kids were like Gabe#Because again they didn’t have anything to compare with#And if we talk about old people and adults too there must have been people who supported her this is just a lot more realistic

I will be very honest that I do not know much about the holiday of Diwali, but I have seen a handful of signs locally for celebrations occurring on November 12. I am given to understand that it is a light festival though this is approximately the limit of my knowledge.
In 2006, as a part of the Festivals of the World series, Mattel released a Barbie to represent Diwali.
The Festivals of the World collection was a bit of a strange one, as there are some tonal differences between different festivals represented in the collection. For example, on the back of the box you can see Diwali being displayed alongside Kwanzaa and Oktoberfest.
This was not the first time that Mattel explored this area. I have found multiple articles referring to Mattel creating a Diwali doll in 1998 as part of an attempt to expand the Barbie line into India; I haven't been able to find this doll specifically, but there are a number of Barbie in India and Expressions of India dolls from around this era.
The articles linked above are critical of Mattel for showcasing a stereotypical and at times inaccurate/disrespectful display of Indian culture, including the claim that the 1998 Diwali Barbie I can't find had blue eyes.
Of course, there's no way to know if Mattel were earnestly trying to showcase diversity and falling short, or if they were just trying to market to a new audience. We can make our assumptions, but we don't necessarily know for sure.
If anyone who has more knowledge and understanding of this area I would really appreciate their input. My apologies if any of the above is controversial or incorrect; please correct me if so.

Beyond Samhain: Global Traditions to Honor the Dead
Samhain, celebrated at the end of October in the Northern Hemisphere, is a sacred festival for many Pagans and witches. It marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the dark half of the year. It’s considered a time when the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead is at its thinnest. Therefore, this Sabbat provides the opportunity to honor ancestors, remember…

The U500 festival is our statement for the independent culture in Hungary. In 2024, members of the independent cultural field of Hungary will come together for the fifth time to create the Under500 festival. As the result of the uncertainty caused by the epidemic situation, the goal of the grassroots festival, in addition to building community and strengthening visibility, is to provide a platform to which everyone has equal access: for emerging artists as well as well-known creators and choreographers or underground groups. Over the past four years, the festival has become a platform for cross-genre productions, focusing on experimentation and the search for connections. This year, the creative community is facing a sad but not at all unexpected challenge, as Under500 was left without funding. The number of resources that can be spent on culture is rapidly decreasing in Hungary, as well as the possibilities of the independent scene; we are dancing on the edge of extinction. In view of this, Artus is making the venue available to us for free this year, and the artists who have so far indicated their intention to participate have agreed to perform without a fee. With our fundraising campaign, we now want to collect the minimum amount that is absolutely necessary for the realization of the festival. We trust that the festival, which has always been able to renew itself, will now find new ways, as it has become perhaps the most important professional unifying force. For now, we are working tirelessly to see what direction the Under500 will take in 2024, we will not let it dissipate, it will happen this year as well, even if we don’t see how to pay the necessary costs. Support us if you can, and come and be a part of this professional event which is based on friendship, and how we unwaveringly try to expand the ever-shrinking spaces, while looking for points of connection with each other and with you.
#theater#hungary#fundraising#i am posting little and less and being semi-active in any sort of cultural life in hungary; increasingly depressed#i recognize the ills of this world are legion and the fate of a probably barely-known independent theater festival not the top priority#for most people. this however is my biggest platform and i thought sharing is the bare minimum contribution i could do#fwiw – the amount of funding they're after is ~4k usd

Festival Origins: The Truth Behind Celebrations
Introduction: Exploring the Origins of Popular Celebrations The focus phrase “Festival Origins” raises an intriguing question: Are these beloved holidays genuinely Christian, or do their roots lie elsewhere? People from Vilanova i la Geltrú (Penedès, Catalonia) celebrating their city’s festa major (local festivity). Each town and city has their own festes majors, set on a different day depending on their patron saints. Festes majors are one of the biggest festivities among Catalan traditions, which are celebrated with traditional dance and music. Though there are festes majors throughout the year, most of them are in summer.
