First pic- Was the "final". Tweaked it and added graphic designs to emphasize the 3rd lines in the top and bottom titles. 

Arranged the logos n' things with the directions of zippy.  suggested the imitation of the top to the bottom title to make it more neat and orderly.

The pool picture was my original plan, but I bored of it and looked around for inspiration. I found the riverside picture and decided that I wanted to do something slightly similar. I then remembered the new yorker and decided on what I wanted to do.

Based on the new yorker, I made my own twist. I used pen and ink to draw the picture first, then I scanned it in and made imitation water color with photoshop paint. 

For a lengthy time I fumbled around with lettering and fonts, arranging them in every way. I chose a very neat and tidy, yet bold font for the main top and bottom title. I then used an outlined font for the second, due to it being less important then the main title. I thought about it more and decided to border it with a simple yet neat outline. Due to the fact that the third line is the least important, I chose an informative yet bland font, but then decided to emphasize with some simple graphic designs, it was part of the title after all. 

With zippy's direction I decided on fading out the shore wood town logo, fb logo, and the mag code to draw less attention to it. 

Later I decided the second line in both titles weren't "emphasized" enough and made a grey faded background to the border,  which complemented the black font making it 'pop'. 

Finally, to emphasize the illustration as a whole, I gave the whole cover a slight white borderline which really made the colors pop, which was required due to the limited amount of colors I was given.
