Just got back in touch with a coworker/friend from my previous job. Apparently I was right to jump ship when I did, lol. They're having to go into the office 3 days a week now (when I was there it was only 2). They also keep taking on more work despite not hiring new people (leading to a bigger and more stressful workload for everyone) and they've restructured a lot.

Meanwhile I'm getting paid $9 an hour more than I was there, am in a fully remote work environment, am actually appreciated by my company and coworkers, and my workload and stress is way less than it was there. You know, I was fucking pissed when I was basically pushed out of my last job due to shitty coworkers, but it was honestly the nicest thing they could have done for me!

Small IRL Update

So my supervisor disrespected me for the last time last week (long story, doesn't really matter, it's been a pattern of bad behavior the entirety of the almost 3 years I've been with this department. This time was just the straw that broke the camel's back.)

The good news is, I got pissed-off enough to finally sign up for a class to get my medical coding certification. It's self-paced and online through my alma mater, where I got my Bachelor's degree 8 years ago. In 6-12 months I'll be working from home, setting my own schedule, and earning 50% more than I do right now without the inter-office politics and petty bullshit!

Suck on that, "Boss," I'm pulling a Charles Smith and turning my indignant rage into personal growth! 😈

Me baffled, discussing with a friend a conversation that I had with a new coworker.

Me: Yes, he told me he'll never learn Spanish because he believes is a "gay" language, even refuses to understand what Im saying to him, so, I guess I'll just try to communicate in English. (Were not in the United States)

My friend:...what? but dude youre a lesbian! and you speak Spanish.

Me: thats not the point, you speak Spanish too and youre a bisexual...

My friend: Exactly my point.

Me: Were in a Spanish speaking country genius.

My friend: Well, I came like that straight from the factory, I guess my language just makes me gayer according to him... Brrr still this is worriesome, not all of us speak English.

Me: Guess I'll have tell the boss his opinions on our language...

My friend: Or ill just tell everyone to keep speaking to him in spanish as a galant display of the gayness of our mother tongue.

Me: Yes, I'll tell the boss.

As much as I enjoy working at my current workplace for the most part (as much as you can enjoy work) what drives me mad is whenever I ask for help or guidance with something I'll get brushed off with "you know how it works" like, if I did, I wouldn't be asking, and no, showing me once is not really enough for me to feel confident enough to do it myself especially if that one time was forever ago! And other times noone has even showed me yet and then they ask me how I managed to not know something by now?? Like sorry guys but how was I meant to know if noone even showed me?? Like that usually comes from the person meant to teach the apprentices which drives me especially mad because they didn't teach me these things as an apprentice so of course I still don't know them by now?? And letting me do whatever is not very helpful at a doctor's office, for my patients sake and mine
