The Obelisk, Woolverstone Park, Suffolk
On the banks of the river Orwell in Suffolk there once stood a lofty obelisk. It proclaimed to all the filial piety of Charles Berners, who erected it in 1793 in memory of his father, William. At 96 feet tall, and topped with a golden sun, it was a prominent landmark but sadly it came to a sorry end when it was damaged by fire and then demolished in the middle of the 20th century. But as the…

Saturday 24th August 2024
We awoke to typical August bank holiday weather - grey and raining! So we pottered down to Harwich and up the Stour where we anchored for lunch before returning up to Ipswich dock for an overnight stop. The crew got pretty soaked getting through the lock and then it stopped raining...!

Assault on station 33 review written by Neil Leslie Gilbert-Williams-Jacksnephew of © NEIL LESLIE GILBERT WILLIAMS JACKSNEPHEW HOUSEHOLD
Opening scenes featuring snippets about officer characters past. One of the snippets screened past incident of officer character being held captive which involved battery, torture.
I've been abducted by former IC3 African male students acquaintances of WOOLVERSTONE HALL SCHOOL (as myself and IC3 British born Caribbean). I was tortured, unable to use toilet, beaten with weapon and objects such as rocks, cut, stabbed and shot with gun. Possibly because I was violent towards them following being targeted and attacked, and also exacerbated by the IC3 Africans hostility and cruelty towards IC1/ IC2 males (bullied by demands of behaviour, battery/ assaults, lure into conversations and cutting off / interupterupted responses to cause lisp's and stutterings for their pleasure.
I identified with characters recollections of memory about his ordeals.
I would think abduction happens more than can be reported.
Currently I'm former mental health service user who is regularly ill treated by generally everyone.
I observed the officer character as responsible, but not being taken seriously by generally everyone (characters ) as he was referred to as 'nut job' by officer character in responsible position who I would think had little or nil understanding about in storyline issues unwitnessed by characters profession.
Scenes about hospital employees and patients characters being held captive features murder of hostage wanting to escape. I recall another occurrence in my past where I witnessed young children and there supervisor being held captive in Battersea Park, Greater London City. I tried to help along with other citizens. It didn't work. I tried to lure the abductors away which is when the children attempted to escape. As I turned to sprint onto the parks police (hoping one or both would chase me) the abductor shouted at the children. I then heard one of the female juniors being struck by log/ stick which one of abductors held. Simultaneously heard female scream at sound of impact on females anatomy.
There have been other incidents where witnessing of violence caused shock. Therefore felt pleased by screening scenes of shooting of hostage character as it's graphic and explicit which is an effective method of screening part of act/ scene about storyline .
I would think crimes of all types of classification are planned constantly around Earth. Although technology could prevent many crimes, however crime remains constant.
I've experienced being victim to criminal actions which could have been avoided by processing statements reported or complaint's being processed thoroughly.
Today's society seems filled with inefficient, incoherent, irresponsible behaviour.
In this movie, I witnessed character report suspicious behaviour, which was ignored. Minutes later, there's a crime scene at location of reports of suspicious behaviour.
Enjoyed storyline, brilliant screenplay, good dialogue, excellent makeup and costumes.

In 1985 inner London education authority ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inner_London_Education_Authority) managed schools in Greater London.
I.l.e.a. owned boarding schools in rural counties.
Following my completion of primary school (then: Durand primary school, then Durand academy, now Van Gogh, Hackford Road, SW9), my mother registered me to then: Woolverstone Hall School for boys, now: Ipswich high school.
In 1990, I.l.e.a. was abolished. Before abolishment of ilea, ilea attempted to survive by cutting costs.
The BBC forty minutes programme filmed documentary.
I commented about my schooling at Woolverstone Hall School before closure (due to ilea stopping funding)

Maleval Vent
I’d like to start off by saying, I need to vent and this is the only platform that I feel will be able to handle it. I’d also like to say that I have a shipper’s heart and although I love a lot of characters across different fandoms together; there are only a few “ships” I obsess over. One of these ships are: “Maleval” or Maleficent x Diaval.
Tumblr media
So first things first, I believe that all ships, no matter the fandom are just for fun and games. And though I take mine seriously, at the end of the day, they’re something to bring a little joy.
HOWEVER, I’ve been seeing a lot of Maleval hate recently- on and off Tumblr. I’ve seen random negative posts about shipping them and also heard from different views in person of why they’re such a bad ship and honestly, I just want to defend something.
1. The Script
Diaval was ALWAYS suppose to be Maleficent’s love interest.
Linda Woolverston wrote it in a way that their relationship was a friendship love- an unexpected but equal love. A male character that didn’t lesson that of a female character, but rather enhanced each other in different ways. He was suppose to be her realization after the betrayal of her first love that she could trust again (and also love, but Aurora helped with that too.)
Disney allowed the connection and importance of Diaval to Maleficent to remain once the script was finalized, however, changed that they wanted to simply focus on the love between mother x daughter, meaning they didn’t take the relationship of “Maleval” away, but didn’t focus on it.
Examples:
SHES LOOKING RIGHT AT HIM. BUT SHE CAN’T SEE THE LOVE IN HIS EYES.
M: I THOUGHT YOU LIKED BEING A BIRD. D: NOT AS MUCH AS I USED TO.
I THOUGHT I’D LOST YOU.
SHE TRIES TO HIDE HER FEELINGS
MALEFICENT STANDS WITH DIAVAL. HER HAND FIND HIS...
Side note: Diaval called her the Mistress of all Evil, which is what the second filmed is named.
THEY LIFT THEIR WINGS AND TAKE FLIGHT TOGETHER. THEY FLY OFF INTO THE LITERAL SUNSET.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. NOVELIZATION
The novel for the first movie, still showed the conflicting feelings that Maleficent was feeling about Aurora AND Diaval.
Example:
Diaval turned and walked away. Behind him, Maleficent watched him go. Her emotions churning. She hated him for talking to her like that. Hated him for making her feel guilty. Yet if she hated him so much, why was she so upset to see him go. Maleficent sighed. Why has everything become so complicated?
Also!
In the novelization, Maleficent found Diaval physically attractive. She literally checked him out in his naked man form after saving him from the farmer/dogs. (Also note this was during a time that she was still heartbroken/enraged from her first love, Stefan.)
Example:
[Maleficent] began to walk around him slowly, scrutinizing. She had to admit he wasn’t terrible to look at, even for a human. She could have created far worse.
And!
Side note, fuck that cat.
3. AURORA
I understand you don’t need to be “together” to raise a child, but they still literally raised a child together. THEY’RE HER PARENTS.
It takes two goths to raise a beautiful, bright, pastel child.
Tumblr media
4. Sam & Angelina ship it.
Angie: Maleficent and Diaval raised Aurora TOGETHER. They are her parents. He’s the only one whose advice she listens to.
Sam: Diaval LOVES Maleficent.
Sam: “They’re like an old married couple now.”
Interviewer: “You’re Maleficent’s servant?” Sam: “Partner.”
Tumblr media
5. Side notes:
First movie:
Diaval isn’t affraid to challenge her and is the first to realize she isn’t as bad as she makes everyone think she is.
He sits by her even in human form, meaning Maleficent changes him for the simply company. (Or because he wants her to.)
Just their dynamic- I mean come on now- BRING THEM TO ME — HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO ME
Diaval follows Maleficent into the castle knowing they could die.
Diaval guarding her body in dragon form.
Maleficent laying her head on Diaval’s horse neck.
Check out those love looks. CHECK THEM OUT.
HE LOOKS AT HER LIPS
She literally doesn’t need Diaval anymore because she has her wings, but he has become much more than her wings.
Second movie:
There is literally no reason for Diaval to be at that dinner, especially in human form. (Maleficent makes sure he is even dressed for the occasion.)
Side note: Notice how his buttons match her staff?
Look at them being a married couple.
The way her wings protect him and Aurora as they cross the bridge.
Diaval is wearing Malefient’s ring from the first movie.
DELICIOUS
She protects him from the cat although she never looked in his direction; meaning she was aware of him at all time.
She still changed Diaval into a bird to follow her. So she never forgot about him.
She changes him into a bear because he asked her to — and also before she even broke the clouds, meaning she was aware that he was in trouble.
(She’s known Borra for 5 minutes; but has known Diaval (closely) for over 20 years)
The way he takes her jacket. The way he looks at her after she’s been missing. The way he looks at her when she walks down the aisle with Aurora. When he places his hand on her back.
I MISSED YOU.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So excuse me, but even if I didn’t have this factual evidence, I still ship these two... cause they’re just too perfect.
Maleval ❤️ (let me know if I missed anything.)

Easter 19th April 2019 Fairwell to Gem. Hello Stardust
Following a very unanticipated opportunity we have given up Gem to a new owner and purchased Stardust our new 2008 Beneteau Oceanis 31. We took ownership late afternoon on Good Friday and motored the short passage from Foxes marina to our new berth at Woolverstone on Saturday morning. Spending the remainder of Saturday and Easter Sunday cleaning polishing and finding a home for all of our belongings and finding our way around the boat.
With very little wind we spent Easter Monday motoring up and down the river.
Tumblr media
Leaving Foxes on passage to Woolverstone. Stardust day one.
Tumblr media
Scrubbing, polishing and cleaning done for the easter weekend. Feels like home already.
Tumblr media
Stardust. Needs some work but we will hopefully have her looking as she did when new.
Tumblr media
Good bye to Gem. Lots of fond times spent on this great boat. Sad to see her go but happy to be moving on and up.

'Famous Follies': a Nineteenth Century View
‘Famous Follies’: a Nineteenth Century View
In 1896 a new publication was launched in Britain. Pearson’s Magazine was a miscellany of fact and fiction, and is best known today for a landmark event of 1922: the appearance of the first ever crossword puzzle in a British publication. Only a year after it first appeared on newsstands the magazine was attracting writers of the highest calibre, including H.G.Wells whose The War of the Worlds was…

Two days in Woolverstone
Thursday 22nd, Friday 23rd August 2024
And so we sheltered in Woolverstone whilst the storm and high winds went through! Of course, a walk to the Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill was a must for lunch, where Tim's brother and sister-in-law caught up with us so we enjoyed a very sociable afternoon together. The weather perked up a bit on Friday for another walk to the shop and then David arrived early evening to join us for the weekend.

Sometimes I’m with thoughts about reports regarding historical lynchings. I recall learning in WOOLVERSTONE HALL SCHOOL high school’s humanities classes about eradication of lynchings. Lynchings became almost extinct when law operatives vows and swear oaths in office to conduct operations to prevent illegal lynchings. Effectively punishment of sentences to death penalty.
The reason why I don’t kill citizens is because I’m NOT permitted by law and don’t own or use weapons. In addition I’m assured by office holders that justice is effectively operationally governing. I would expect citizens responsible for serious crimes are or will be sentenced to death penalty.
However, the death penalty was stopped in AD:1964 in United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Having experienced injustice by citizens and office holders, I defected from United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and The West as communism appears with more legal stability than non communist continent’s.
Please have mercy upon strict Communist rulers and there supported administrators and citizens.

SAIL 2016 - RYA Sail for Gold Roadshow 2016 celebrates the Paralympics at Alton Watersports Centre - 2016
Tumblr media
23 settembre 2016 - Some 161 visitors tried sailing or windsurfing as the RYA Sail for Gold Roadshow celebrated the Paralympics at Alton Watersports Centre near Ipswich on Saturday (17 September) which was also the Paralympic sailing medal race day in Rio. The event was fully accessible for people with disabilities.   The British Sailing Team’s Megan Pascoe, who sails in the 2.4mR class, was there to meet and greet visitors in the morning and in the afternoon she took some out on the water in a specially adapted boat from the Woolverstone Project - a local RYA Sailability group which provides sailing for those with disabilities. Megan described the freedom which sailing provides those with disabilities: “I liken it to a penguin, things can be difficult on land but perfect on the water! Days like this show that sailing is accessible and affordable regardless of your ability or background.” Robbie Bell, RYA Regional Development Officer, said: “We’re working in conjunction with Alton Water Sports Centre and The Woolverstone Project to provide lots of free opportunities for people of all abilities to get out on the water and try sailing. Sailing is such a leveller, people with disabilities find they can get out on the water and have just as much fun as anyone else.” Leah Bowers, who was there with six young people from Stowmarket Autism Spectrum Disorder Saturday Club, said of her group: “Four of the six haven’t sailed before and they’ve done fantastically today. The team here at Alton Water is great.” Jane Ellison, the Disability Development Officer in the East Region, added: “Sailing is a fantastic sport for absolutely everybody. It’s a great leveller for people of any ability – they can get out there on a boat and feel free. People don’t always know they have facilities like this on their doorstep and days like today help us to make them aware.” The RYA Sail for Gold Roadshow previously toured the UK during the Olympic medal race week with more than 1,100 people getting out on the water.

Thursday 22nd-23rd October 2020
22Nm (285)
A couple of days off and an opportunity to get on the water again have been disappointed lately as strong gales have held us up. With a forecast of S to SW 18-20 knots with games later we headed of once again for Wrabness.
The forecast on the day was accurate and around Harwich there was a short swell making a choppy sail with the wind on the nose up the Stour all the way so resorted to the engine.
Friday morning we had an early start and elected to return to Woolverstone in anticipation of the storm forecast. A fantastic sail back but h the e winds never did build and we sit in the marina conscious of the missed opertunity of more time at sail.
