Woollies marry fast and have cubs because they have this deep connection much like soulmates it’s unsure if it’s real or just something they believe is happening. Either way I think Woollies don’t have high expectations.
Ilya was highly sought after because he was uninterested that other woolly ladies were trying to figure him out like it’s a game he rejects everyone and he’s clearly off limits which doesn’t stop them from at least trying.

woolly. mice.
ok, capitalism is doing its horrible things and politics are terrible and oppression and bigotry are running rampant.
but.
we now live in a world with woolly mice.
Make sure to notice the good things in between panicking sessions.

African Woolly Chafers (Genus Sparrmannia): these beetles have a uniquely "fluffy" appearance, thanks to the long, fur-like setae that covers their bodies
Tumblr media
Beetles of the genus Sparrmannia are widely distributed throughout the arid regions of southern Africa. They have very distinctive features, with large, plump bodies and tawny-colored "fur," and some species can measure up to 25mm (nearly 1 inch) long.
Tumblr media
They generally hide in underground burrows during the day, and emerge only at night, when the desert is substantially cooler. The dense layer of "fur" acts as insulation, which allows the beetles to remain active at night, even when the temperatures plummet.

So Ilya doesn’t speak English as his first language. I feel like the Woollies culture is based on Eastern Europe. Not sure if I want to say they speak Russian or Ukrainian I’m not good at making up languages… I might try.

So what have we learned? A charming rodent can be one of the most powerful tools in a technosavior's pocket. As Nature reported, Colossal is now valued at $10 billion. And what has Colossal produced so far? A hairy mouse that kind of already exists, and a slew of press releases on plans to de-extinct not just mammoths, but also animals like dodos and thylacines. The announcement of the woolly mouse will no doubt rake in even more capital, which was presumably the point and which will probably benefit its investors more than it will a putative, chimerical mammoth. When a company trying to sell itself calls something a "breakthrough," you don't have to believe them.
Gentle Tumblrfolk, I know we're all desperate for good news and that we all love cute, fluffy critters. But this "mammoth mouse" thing is absolute flim flam.
Please click and read the linked article. Sabrina Imbler (who is a great science journalist) does an excellent job explaining how science journalism works nowadays (unfortunately), and how almost no one paid attention to Nature's news story on it, which is what good journalism should be doing for a sensational claim like this.
