so like I'm not that marionette anon bc my woodcraving skills are low, but I get it. My gf joe lives alone in the woods in a story cottage in poor Appalachia and she keeps thieves away by taking apart and hanging antique porcelain dolls from the trees, plus she likes the look! Tho I think the only person she freaks out is the garbage man, mainly bc the mailman is Buddhist and lived in the 70s and tbh is too chill to be freaked out by the decapitated dolls hangin from the chestnut trees

Backstory

An odd fellow but one of the stronger fighters in the Kombatra dorm, both proficient with fists and the blade. He's seeming normal fairly gruff and a tad intimidating given his Ix Ra status but he's willing to help folks out and be the crowd controller should the situation call for it. However when the newest student came to Night Raven College, a girl with long sunset hair and eyes of crystal blue he felt drawn to them. He barely knew this magicless little lamb but he couldn't shake this feeling that he was supposed to watch over her.

Originally a piece of Lord Astra, the god of death's very soul. Born from his desire to protect humanity and given to a young girl. One taken from her home kingdom to serve as a potential savior. To stop the mad god and maybe heal his heart, he was to serve as her knight. Her hero. They grew close, fell in love, promised that they would win.........but they failed. The lily, his lily, dead in his arms, her last words telling him to not cry because she'll always be with him. She loved him. And so he cursed the world. Cursed both the god who killed his heart and the one who made him. He cursed them both as he bled from his wounds, with her head still near his chest. And so the Lord of the death took their weary souls and gave them another chance. A better chance.

Quick Bio: Self-estranged from his family, Nic graduated from Credence City College with a degree in math and a minor in literature. He and his twin brother, Newt, tag-team and make their living off journalism. He's also recently gained custody of his younger stepsiblings, and his free time is split between his volunteer job at the animal shelter and cleaning out his late mother's old apartment.

He had a goth phase he's not quite gotten out of during his teens, but he's become a significantly happier person now that he's out of his father's thumb, or lack thereof. Surprisingly, he's less troublemaking then his twin, but by no means less eager to partake in a good prank-on more then one occasion, he's gotten himself stuck on dishwashing duty for pulling something on his brother. And yes, they are brothers, it's a very long story. He's also into handicrafts, so while Newt gets ideas for things, he creates the things. Their apartment is filled with woodcravings and mini sculptures of everything from heroes of the past to the "pixie" Newt claims he saw in the complex gardens.

His Gift allows him t teleport short distances. It's not always planned where he ends up, but he can ballpark it pretty well now.

Notes:

He used to be a competitive derby racer in his youth. He gave that one up after injuring his knee in a fall.

He has a habit of bringing animals home, and Newt can't say no so luckily their friends Mateo and Callen keep them in check or the place would be overrun.

He wears a small amethyst pendent, a gift from his girlfriend.

Alqualondë

My personal headcanon about Alqualondë, Falmarin architecture and some cultural details.

Alqualondë is build in rocky terrain and spread across many small rock islands connected by bridges. The city is walled by white rocks and entrance is created by natural stone arch. The rocks are decorated with gems and painted by artists. Alqualondë is build in several floors - the streets run above each other on the roofs of buildings and the sea canals underneath. Bamboo is the main building material used. Many falmari don't live in houses at all, instead their boats serve as their home. The royal palace is located on top of the highest rock and overlook the city.

A boat is popular betrothal gift for nobles. Common folk usually make new sail to bestow to their beloved. Falmari aren't great horse riders, since they have little need for horses in their daily life and prefer the company of sea creatures. Pod of resident orcas live in the waters of Alqualondë. They are Olwë's friends and helpers of fishermen. Turtles, dolphins and birds are common family pets. Seagulls serve as post service and carry messages around, however they accept only payment in fish.

Some houses are designed to resemble swans in shape, but shell shaped ones are also common, especially for smaller buildings. Houses are party inbuild into the rocks. Elegant curves are typical for falmarin architecture. Big shells radiating light of various colours are used instead of fire to light the city. As masters of woodcraving, falmari decorate their buildings with carved images of swans, sea, ships, whales and turtles. Homes are decorated with painted shells in windows. Interiors are very airy and nets are used to rest on. Falmari aren't fond of doors and use colourful painted curtains instead. Every morning and evening they sing to welcome Sun and Moon. Woodwind instruments are most common - flutes, ocarinas and conch shell horns, they invented instrument similar to what we know as marimba.
