WONKA SPOILERS AHOY!!!
If Noodle ever saw Slugworth again, I'd like to see her call him Uncle Artie just to piss him off.

Just watched the Wonka movie.
I enjoyed it as a standalone film but especially enjoyed it as a prequel to the Gene Wilder Wonka. It retroactively made Wider’s Willy so much more tragic.
And that’s because Chalamet’s younger, earnest and kind Willy Wonka is CONSTANTLY having his kindness and compassion and belief in the good intentions of others thrown back at his face almost. Every. Single. Time.
What happens to him, in no particular order: People take advantage of him when he is at his lowest; they sabotage his chocolate; Hugh Grant steal his chocolate and beats him with a frying pan; he is nearly drowned by the chief of police; a boat he’s in is rigged to explode; they try to drown him AGAIN but now in melted chocolate under a church; he is tricked into debt and forced into indentured servitude; the chocolate mafia wants him dead; he has to crawl in the sewers just to sell his chocolate without the police beating the shit out of him at the chocolate mafia’s command, and a bunch of other moments either his earnest nature (or the fact he is illiterate, because by the way he is illiterate) is taken advantage of.
But he keeps believing in the good of others. He has friends, and a pseudo daughter that taught him how to read and his mother’s memory and so many dreams…
And then we arrive at Wilder Wonka. Who was betrayed one too many times. Who had his recipes stolen from him. Who shut himself from the world and trusts no one.
Who doesn’t care for these spoiled people walking around his factory, even if they were his last attempt at proving to himself that good people, good kids (Like Noodle) still exist.
Who is alone.
TL;DR: seeing a young Wonka who is so optimistic knowing how he is going to end up after being betrayed over and over and over again is a emotional experience that I was not quite ready for.

just finished watching the new wonka movie. the whole time the only thing on my mind was how quick willy picked up that parental older brother instinct around noodle. he gave off that vibe of just the sweet big brother who raised you better than your parents but is incredibly mentally unstable himself & it was fucking cute.
10/10 movie go see it 🫵

Okay but why is no one talking about the Wonka movie?!
Four neurodivergent enslaved mfs, an orphan girl that has been abused, and an autistic chocolate loving mess of a man joined toghether to make chocolate and faced police brutality, broke a giraffe out of the zoo, defeated the chocolate mafia, defeated a cult that helped said mafia and followed a religion based on chocolate, got sent multiple death threats over just making chocolate, and had to use sewers to travel the city just to not get beaten by police officers. And they did all of that while being stuck basically being slaves of a very nasty old woman who charged them money for even breathing in her general direction. And I haven't even talked about how absolutely fruity the villains are.
Also did I mention it's a musical?
10/10 movie it's really fun

update: i saw the movie today!!!! omg thank GOD there was no romantic subplot n that noodle is just a kid HALLELUJAH
i loved it so so much im so glad i wasn't disappointed and chalamet was surprisingly fitting! i loved the amount of whimsy and UGH it was worth the fours years wait!!! i cried when wonka started singing pure imagination it was a lot
i really really hope that girl in the trailer doesn't become a love interest or something. idk how old she is or how old wonka is so i cant tell the intention but im gonna hate if wonka gets a romantic subplot

There's something about the flamingos in Wonka. Something about the fact that their wings aren't clipped and they only haven't flown away yet because they haven't seen anybody do it before. There's something about Wonka being that person showing them how to fly to freedom.
There's also something about Noodle. Something about the fact that she never tried to escape the laundromat because she hadn't seen anybody do it before. There's something about Wonka being that person showing her how to be free.
There's something about Noodle as the flamingos and Wonka being the one to bring them both freedom

Ooo if anyone takes requests for Willy Wonka (2023), I have an idea/request!!!
Wonka x pregnant!fem!reader where she’s has a not so great husband, so she leaves to go somewhere safe for her and her future baby (she pregnant with a babygirl). She finds Scrubit and Bleachers sanctuary (or rather they find her… And offer a safe place to sleep). Needing a place to stay, she doesn’t read the whole contract, she ends up getting trapped there like the others. When Willy gets trapped down there, Y/n has already had her baby. Willy and Y/n have an immediate connection and fall in love during their time down there, and Willy becomes a father to Y/n’s daughter🥺🥺 Him insuring Y/n that he will get them out of there one day, and take care of them when he gets his chocolate shop. Etc 🥺🥺🥺
Please let me know if you wanna write this!!!🙇‍♀️

One of my favorite things about Wonka is how so many people were making guesses on which woman in Wonka was gonna be Willy's love interest just for none of them to be and we got a cute little sibling (parent/kid?) Duo in Noodle and Willy.
It's so found family of them.

i saw wonka and i just have one thing to say.
why did wonka not know how to read?
his mother never taught him? yet she left him the “secret ingredient” in the chocolate she made in the form of a WRITTEN note. that’s so fucked up. he didn’t even know what letters were! and she was like “here’s my secret, you little fucking idiot”

Fun fact from the Wonka novelization!
Willy's mom gifted him his signature velvet jacket and tophat that he wears in the film, which she purchased secondhand from a magician!
