Freeform locs 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏𝟏𝟒⁣ 💕 ⁣⁣ As you can tell, my hair was tired but my face was exhausted because acne 😤⁣ ⁣ 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘧𝘧...⁣ ⁣Locs is 3 months and 3 weeks old here. ⁣ • I 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 with 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Chunky or fluffy.⁣ 🇬🇭🇬🇭⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✅𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞: Diluted African black soap, no rinse out or leave in conditioner. Hair oil Mix and hair mist(clean water) 💦 were used when needed 😀⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘱 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 ⁣ Later, I put my locs in Bantu knots 🌻⁣ I tried to do a bentonite clay mask the following week after taking the knots out and it wasn’t great because I didn’t sieve the clay well. 🤗⁣ ⁣ I ended up rinsing my hair for about 30 mins to get tiny particles out. ⁣ 😅😅⁣ I had yarn braids a week later ( 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐨𝐧 how 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥) ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: ⁣This is the stage where the shrinkage got worse. I also noticed loose hair here and there and tried to wrap them around the closest loc. 🌻🤪⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My hair still felt fluffy and you can see my locs budding so well. I used a little Shea butter too.⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: ⁣I got so used to my hair being locd and I wore it down mostly. Although I’ll wrap it sometimes to avoid dust and UV rays(makes hair brownish).⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I still got a lot of awkward comments and questions. Can you see any changes compared to 𝐝𝐚𝐲 14? ⁣🤔 ⁣ •Remember I 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 with 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬. ⁣⁣ Chunky or fluffy.⁣ 🇬🇭🇬🇭⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣ ✅𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞: I’ll moisturize with clean water and seal with my hair oil @nappyc_ . I used the diluted African black soap to wash and it made my hair feel squeaky clean. ⁣ ⁣ One time I took a dip in the pool and ended up with spongy feeling hair. 😂🤭😫😫⁣ 𝘑𝘰𝘫𝘰𝘣𝘢 𝘰𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘦 ⁣ ⁣ I used Shea butter at this stage tho ⁣ ⁣ I tried to experiment with hair styles since my hair wasn’t super thick and it could stretch easily but I rarely used edge control.⁣⁣ ⁣ 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦 🤪🤪⁣ ⁣ Edges are not baby hairs - just adult hair 😛⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: After a month, I felt my hair remained the same but just got 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐲. I started treating my hair like “dreadlocks or locs” ⁣ ⁣⁣little shrinkage here too .. ⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: This period was when it started to look like I was really getting “dada” in the Nigerian term. ⁣ ⁣ People expected me to loosen my twists since it’s time to let go.⁣ ⁣ I got a lot of 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 ⁣ I still get some today tho 😅⁣ Not like they feed me so ...⁣ I move 👌🏾⁣ ⁣ There’s more of these coming - visual dreads journey. Some people call the first year of locing the 𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 but I didn’t feel the “awkwardness”.
