I know i might have a weird taste for music but i didn't think it was that bad until i gave a lift to my brother and he kept begging be for a normal song after being forced to listen to nyan cat for not even 30 seconds...
And than two trucks started playing...
I just kept skipping through my playlist the whole ride and this is my fun playlist too :((
#my brother has no tastes in music whatsoever so he isnt that good of a reference#but still#the things he made me skip except it progressively gets worse:#any vocaloid songs (because he hates miku for some reason...)#any fnaf songs (because “its not 2018 anymore”)#any lemon demon song (because it has the word demon in the artist name)#any mitsuki song (because he thought it was miku and refused to listen to me saying it was a- not miku and b- serious just like he asked)#any mother mother song because its “boring”???#any of the initial D songs i have (deja vu and running in the 90s) (because i would rash the car for sure)#we didn't start the fire (because it wasnt the marvel version???)#the theme song from one of our childhood shows (because the voice isnt exactly the same as the real thing)#star wars OSTs (cantina band and duel of fates) (because apparently its not serious enough)#any marina song or dollyrots song (because its women singing... i kid you not... hes like “oh its woman it cant be good” istg)#“fairytale” and “europe sky” (because “its not 2020 anymore???)#any song by glass animal (because it started too slow so it was boring)#and other songs like “discord” “my ordinary life” “rasputine” “we dont sleep at night” etc etc because“theyre not real songs#the only song he didn't complain about was mr blue sky... why? because it played in one of his favourite movies#he complained about QUEEN- Like he let it play but he complained about bohemian rhapsody being boring????#my brother is a disappointment to music...#like i feel like leaking the playlist just to prove a point but i trying to not be too petty... i might idk...#like i asked him if he wanted me to switch and put on my heavy metal playlist and he said if i did he was gonna die...#like touch some grass dude-#anyway#music

Stray Kids Hyunjin & His Love of Queer Media 🏳️🌈
This is just a little self-indulgent post to show appreciation for Hyunjin’s consistent support for queer artists and their work because it makes my heart happy. If you would like to give this post some love on Twitter too, I would really appreciate it!
~~~
During an interview in 2018, Hyunjin revealed the items in his school bag, one of which was the feminist short story collection Someone Harmless to Me by Choi Eunyoung (title translation may vary), which features a lesbian love story.
Book Description:
Hyunjin also recommended To The Warm Horizon by Choi Jinyoung, a post-apocalyptic novel featuring a love story between two women (May 2024).
Book Summary:
An interview with Choi Jinyoung about the queer/lesbian themes in the book:
In an interview with Bugs, Hyunjin recommended the song “1-800-273-8255” by Logic and its music video, which features a gay man struggling with and then ultimately accepting his sexuality. He remarked that the video was hopeful and could make viewers cry (March 2018).
Music Video Description:
Hyunjin is a fan of Troye Sivan, whose songs (such as “Youth” and “for him.”) he has sung on live and at concerts, as well as during monthly evaluations as a trainee. They met in May 2023 and Hyunjin ended up as a feat. on the remix of “Rush,” a song about gay party culture and intimacy.
Hyunjin is a fan of Frank Ocean, a bisexual man. He has been heard on live whistling “Thinkin’ Bout You,” a song Frank wrote about another man (February 2024).
Hyunjin recommended “Sweet” by Bren Joy, a queer man, and met him after attending his concert soon after (April - August 2024).
About Bren Joy:
When asked what artist he’s been listening to lately (August 2024), Hyunjin replied with a line from Green Day’s song “Bobby Sox,” written by bisexual lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. The lyrics say both “Do you want to be my girlfriend?” and “Do you want to be my boyfriend?”
About Billie Joe Armstrong and Bobby Sox:
If you got this far, thank you so much for reading!!!
#not to mention him being friends with taemin and a member of onlyoneof but i'll chill#anyway i love him sosososo much idk how my faves always end up being the biggest gay people lovers i swear i don't do it on purpose#posting this here too because i can#hwang hyunjin#skz#stray kids
A Guide to Black Dresses (Band)
Who are Black Dresses?
Black Dresses is a Canadian musical band, formed by two women, Ada Rook and Devi McCallion, who are both artists on their own.
The band was formed in 2017, following their first ever single - Paper Planes (cover of MIA).
Devi and Ada started the Black Dresses project when they were friends, however they're currently in a relationship and implied to be married to each other.
They started the Black Dresses project, as a form of venting, and did not expect to blow up in the slightest. However, following the release of their debut album - WASTEISOLATION, they gained attention of the internet. With their unique sound palette, dark and vulnerable content of the lyrics, and general surrounding of enigmatic no-name artists, they started to quickly follow with underground cult following.
Gaining much praise, getting a score of 9 out of 10 from Anthony Fantano, and especially, becoming viral over the song "IN MY MOUTH".
Unfortunely the band diss-banded after harassment that Devi received from the internet users after they found her online presence and internet footprint. Both Ada and Devi didn't really like the attention they gathered. So in 2020, they stopped making new material. But did in fact release old unreleased stuff all up to 2022.
In 2023 they announced working on their 7th album and making new music. Releasing more singles and uploading little snippets on them working. Confirming that way that they're a band once again.
The musical style
Black Dresses musical style is based on mixing a lot of genres. As an underground artists, Black Dresses are influenced by a lot of lesser known styles and genres coming from the outsider world of music.
You cannot really explain their sound in simple words, but i'll try. Their genre is often described as "Noise Pop", but they're much more than that.
I'll try to describe their general sound, but i will go into more details following the guide's part about each individual album.
Most of all, Black Dresses are an electronic band, they do use real life instruments, mostly guitars and drums, but it's mostly electronical elements.
Black Dresses mixes elements of Pop, Industrial, Noise, EDM, Rock, and are mostly described as extremely experimental.
To lesser extent they also use hip-hop, ambience, metal, glitch, synth, and screamo.
Their vocals are rather amateur, which shouldn't really scare you, as it just adds to the charm. They're also notable for their usage of screaming vocals.
Themes of Black Dresses
TRIGGER WARNING: CSA, Abuse.
The main themes of Black Dresses music are:
Mental suffering,
Living with mental ilness - such like depression or severe anxiety,
Coping with trauma - mostly from their childhood, and the sexual abuse they went trough from the hands of adults in their life.
Healing from those experiences, seeing hope in the future.
And environmentalism - raising awareness about the issues of global warming and pollution.
But there's ofcourse many more songs that don't follow these themes.
Black Dresses often get accused of being "edgy", however you shouldn't perceive them like that. Their music is full of real struggles that both Devi and Ada are going trough. They do NOT romanticize or fetishize the themes of their music, nor they sugarcoat it or exaggerate it.
Not to mention their music is full of hope for better tomorrow and wanting to improve, giving it all a positive message.
Release guide
2018 - WASTEISOLATION: Their debut album, definitely the darkest in terms of themes. Essential for every fan of the band, the best place to start. Mostly lighter in sound, doesn't incorporate as much noise as following releases.
Really accessible for newcommers.
2018 - HELL IS REAL EP: A 5 five song EP making a bridge between WASTEISOLATION and THANK YOU. It's a bit moodier than the previous project, but also it's a place where Black Dresses started to use more screaming vocals and noise elements.
2019 - THANK YOU: Second album, much more surreal in the sound palette, much noiser and more electronic. Black Dresses at this point got a little less personal in their lyricism.
2019 - DREAMS COME TRUE 2019: A sequel to their first ever project together, DREAMS COME TRUE 2017 which i'll mention later. It follows 3 WASTEISOLATION songs re-made and re-worked. As well as one brand new song.
2019 - LOVE AND AFFECTION FOR STUPID LITTLE BITCHES: Black Dresses (succesful) attempt at poppier sound. Much less crowded instrumentals and simpler, catchier beats. Doesn't belittle their noise elements and screaming ofcourse!
2020 - Peacefull as Hell: Black Dresses most popular album after WASTEISOLATION, got an extremely positive review from Fantano and semi-blow up on the internet. A fan favourite.
Black Dresses production got more professional.
The sound is much lighter and goes into the direction of electronic pop rock.
2021 - Forever in Your Heart: Black Dresses heaviest project to date. Ada and Devi at their most industrial and metal. A lot of screaming and noise. Another fan favourite.
2022 - Forget Your Own Face: Their latest album, as for the time of writing this guide. Their most disorganised project (which was intentional), full of distortions and noise and screams. It was a surprise release and is made from re-made unreleased material going as back as 2019. It contains some of fan favourite songs.
Other notable work:
2017 - DREAMS COME TRUE 2017: First ever released collaboration between Ada and Devi, a short 4 song EP.
2017 - LETHAL POISON FOR THE SYSTEM: A 3 song EP in collaboration with 99Jakes and Laura Les - a member of 100 GECS. Includes first single Under Black Dresses name.
2018 - CRUSH: Single, a cover of Tessa Violet.
2020 - 745 Sticky Remix: Black Dresses remix of 100 Gecs song that ended up on the official 100 Gecs remix album.
2023 - Shines: Single, a collaboration between the band Purity Ring and Black Dresses.
Merch and how to support them
Black Dresses ocassionally releases their albums on cassettes, however they were all limited and are currently unavaible. No official CDs or Vinyls were ever made.
You can buy at any time Black Dresses hoodies or T-shirts on https://black-dresses-merch-store.creator-spring.com/
(Ada also sells her merch on that)
You can buy their albums over Black Dresses bandcamp, or support them directly trough Patreon.
You can also contact Devi or Black Dresses trough an e-mail and show your support with words!
(Please do not send this e-mail to anybody who could harass them)
That's all, i hope you'll have a wonderful time listening to our gals! :DD
Black Dresses Extended Universe Guide
What's that? You're interested in checking out Ada's and Devi's solo stuff? Well, it might be much more confusing or interesting than you think, in fact, it's a whole rabbit hole. So let me introduce you to, what i like to call, the "Black Dresses Extended Universe" (BDEU or simply BDU).
BDU is a collective of every side-project, nickname under which one of the girls released music, or any other band that contains either Ada or Devi.
Ada Rook's side of EU
Let's start with Ada Rook, since there's a little bit less going around her.
Ada started releasing her music in 2015, following her first OST for her game (as she's a game dev), and her first EP in 2016 "void memory".
Ada used the nickname "rooksfeather" or simply "rook", however after the release of "Parasite" she started using her full name.
Ada's solo discography follows 8 EPs, 4 Soundtracks, and 6 albums. 7th one on the way
Her musical style is similar to Black Dresses, but more into industrial and rock side of things. Her older music used much more ambience and was darker, moodier. Her recent style incorporates much more screaming and poppier sound. However, in case similar to Black Dresses, each album have it own distinct sound.
She also released one album with an artist called Deathirl, "DEATH IN REAL LIFE" and it's extremely rare media, not even listed on RYM. However reuploads of it exists.
She have one Alter-ego, called "Crisis Sigil" Under which she's doing extreme grindcore. Crisis Sigil released 2 EPs and 1 Album.
Ada is also a part of 2 other bands beside of Black Dresses,
"rook&nomie" is a collaboration between Ada and ESPer99, they released 2 albums. Their style is much more poppier than anything else that Ada does.
"Angel Electronics" is a fresh new band formed by Ada and Ash Nerve. They're doing power electronic rock, and their sound is more joyful. They released 1 album so far.
Notable Ada Rook releases:
"Shed Blood" by Rook
"Parasite" by Rook,
"2,020 Knives" by Rook,
"UGLY DEATH" by Rook,
"Rookie's Bustle EP" by Rook,
"GOD CUM POLTERGEIST" by Crisis Sigil,
"ULTRA PARADISE" by Angel Electronics,
"Superego Royal Jelly" by rook&nomie
Devi McCallion's side of EU
Wow, we are in for a heck of a ride... Oh well,
Devi started releasing her music since the age of 15, however most of it is probably lost media at this point. She's putting music out on her own label - Blacksquares, Under many different alliases and side projects, i'll talk about each one later.
Devi's style is mostly indie pop, influenced by sub-genres like dream pop, synthpop, ElectroPop and simply underground pop.
Her music is often simplistic and cartoony, but it's hard to explain her signature style in words.
But it's worth checking out.
Devi rarely releases anything Under her real life name, mostly singles. But she did release 2 albums Under her real name together with Katie Dey, mixing production of both girls.
Devi used many different nicknames trough her career, such like Dizzy Girl, Devi April McCallion, Vriska Serket, Walking Patriarchy and The Little Fears, however all of these names aren't connected to any specific releases, as far as im aware (Devi's music is a huge Rabbit Hole, full of lost media and rare material).
It's also worth mentioning that she released a compilation of her unreleased material Under the name "Blacksquares", it's titled "LIFE IS HELL (ASMR)".
Okay, so now we are going to talk about each one of her musical projects. We'll start with 4 of the most essential ones, then the more obscure ones, and we'll finish it all with Devi's other bands beside Black Dresses.
1. EAT BABIES? - A name she really doesn't like to be assiocated with, so it's better to treat this project as a fun fact, rather than the core of her career. EAT BABIES? was her first ever project (that we are awere of) Under which she released 2 albums and 2 EPs. It was much more amateur than what she's used to do now. And she doesn't like to associate this project with herself due of the fact she was much different person back then.
2. Mom - is her second most popular nickname. It was her primary stage name for a long time untill 2015 when she came out with "Girl Rituals".
Mom released 5 albums. And semi-blow up with a song titled "joyfulthought". Mom is a time when Devi really started to work on her pop sound and signature style.
3. Cats Millionaire - the third most popular Devi project. Cats Millionaire was active from 2011 to 2013. Released 2 albums, 4 EPs and 2 mixtapes.
Cats Millionaire is characteristic for overall theme of My Little Pony, since Devi used to be a brony. The lyrics and aesthetic are all about MLP. The sound was much more soothing and toned-down than most of Devi's releases.
4. Girls Rituals - Devi's current main allias and her most important project that's still active from 2015 to this day. Under that name Devi released most of her music, and she really perfected and evolved her pop sound with each and every release. Beside of many singles, she released 2 EPs (one with Ada, one with 4lung, however the second one is since deleted because of the 4lung allegations), 1 remix album, 1 instrumental album, and 5 albums. With "Reddishness" being Girls Rituals fan favourite release.
Now, Let's get over every other side project.
10 Chains - only one instrumental album have been released. It's noise/ambience.
Doro Doro Dono/More Bears- Just one single released each for two of these projects,
traptraptrap - 2009. one album released. Despite the name, it's her usual pop stuff.
Triangle Giant - named after one of Devi's bands, only one EP released. ElectroPop.
Yellow Bile - 3 EPs released. Usual pop stuff. One of the EPs are lost media.
Tiny Magnesium - Really obscure stage name for her usual pop sound. 2 short albums released.
Leader Misty - Pokemon themed 2008 project, one instrumental album.
Holographic Rainbow - Only the soundtrack to the discontinued web comic (of the same name) have been released.
Hexi Wing - name she used to release her self-spoken erotic fan-fiction. You're probably not interested in that 👀.
Now, last but not least, Devi's multiple bands before and after Black Dresses.
Dr. Massive and The Headwound Extravaganza - was a 2008 electronic band that released mostly covers of rock songs. Only one album have been released and the band is 100% discontinued right now. Devi was responsible for programming, drums and vocals. There also were
Mike Will Smith - percussion and vocals,
Allan Burke - synthesizer and vocals,
Jonathan Oscar Cianni - programming, bass,
And Sensitive Bear - bass and vocals.
Unfortunely i couldn't find any info about the band members.
Giant Triangle - A band where Devi used to do vocals from 2008 to 2016, the band had a lot of members that went and go, but it seems their only official release is an 2020 EP. Usual electronic and pop.
The Various Endeavors? - a 2009 band who's appearently still active? They released one synth punk album, and a compilation of unreleased tracks in 2021. John Bevier and Tyler Bruce are in the band along-side Devi.
VCF Freq - A collaboration between Devi and Boy Pussy, they're doing minimal techno. They're Technically still active but their only 2020 EP dissapeared from any streamings. It's thankfully archived on Soulseek.
Anarchy 99 - A collaboration between Devi and So Drove, they're doing electronic pop rock. They're still active from 2020 and actually release new material consistantly. A couple of singles have been released and one album.
Notable Devi McCallion releases:
'Self-titled" by Mom,
"3" by Mom,
"Fun Fun Fun" by Cats Millionaire,
"Reddishness" by Girls Rituals,
"Im Desperate" by Girls Rituals,
"CRAP SHIT" by Girls Rituals,
"Cow" by Girls Rituals,
"Rockstar Super Heat" by Anarchy 99,
And that's all there is to BDU ;)) have fun Discovering it! ❤️
Jeff Goldblum is handing off the dinosaur-sized torch to “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Bailey is taking on the role of paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis in the latest “Jurassic Park” film, “Jurassic World Rebirth” – and nobody’s more excited to see it than Goldblum.
“The hope of the world resides, and I can think of no better baton receiver to carry on the ‘da da da da da,'” Goldblum tells Variety, singing the iconic “Jurassic Park” theme by John Williams. “It’s Jonathan Bailey! It’s like no other!”
Bailey shares that he and Goldblum chatted about the role for the first time while they were en route to CinemaCon earlier this year. “I had the invitation to join the ‘Jurassic’ world, to join the conga line led by Jeff,” Bailey said. “The original film was a seminal cinematic moment, purely because of Jeff, but also, I went with my family, and the multi-sensory experience of going to see a film so perfectly realized.”
Bailey adds, “There’s so much that I am so proud to join. But obviously, much like with ‘Wicked,’ there is a sense of responsibility. And if I can match half of what Jeff and Sam Neill and Laura Dern achieved, I’ll be very lucky.”
Goldblum starred as the beloved chaos theory mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm in 1993’s “Jurassic Park,” reprising the role for the 1997 sequel “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” and again in 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and 2022’s “Jurassic World Dominion.”
Bailey will star alongside Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali in the 31-year-old “Jurassic” franchise’s seventh film. “Five years after the events of ‘Jurassic World Dominion,’ the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs,” an official summary reads. “Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”
Bailey and Goldblum don’t actually share the screen in “Wicked, out Nov. 22, as Bailey’s Fiyero is charming the pants off every student at Shiz University while Goldblum’s Wizard of Oz is busy running the show in the Emerald City.
“At the beginning, you want to just relish the full essence of his charm and easy flow, as it were,” Bailey says, adding that Fiyero’s proclivity to flirt with men and women alike was just another way to bring nuance to the Winkie prince. “As a character, I ascertained that he’s confident and in himself, and he’s kind enough to invite anyone to Winkie town.”
“Heart-throbby! Heart-throbby!” Goldblum excitedly adds. But Bailey argues that the Wizard is actually the real charmer of the film. “He’s the OG rizz king,” Bailey says with a laugh, prompting Goldblum to burst into song again: this time, it’s “(They Long to Be) Close to You,” which Bailey enthusiastically joins him in.
As for his wizardly inspiration, Goldblum says he didn’t take any cues from modern day leaders in crafting the great and powerful leader. “This was written and devised well before any of our current landscape, but it’s a timeless story,” he says. “It’s always fallen to individual people who seek the truth and find their power and find out that, just like ‘Horton Hears a Who,’ one person of effectiveness can move the whole ship of state and keep things going toward an ideal and perfect country and world where we have a planet that works for everyone.”
Gay Movie Recommendations
╰┈➤ I’m not gay but my boyfriend is!
Yes the topic is: “I’m not gay but my boyfriend is!”.
Which means, this recommendation list includes movies where some of these themes are included:
internalised homophobia, denial of sexual orientation, being in the closet, coming out.
Shelter (2007)
My Rating: 9/10
This movie is definitely one of my favourites. It’s about a young lad Zach finding paths again with his best friend’s big brother (Shaun) after many years. They are surfing together in California and just enjoying each other’s company.
This movie is heartwarming and very comforting somehow. I am drawn into 2000s nostalgia in this movie. The soundtracks are also made by legendary (and gay) artist Shane Mack.
Lie With Me (2022)
My Rating: 8/10
I watched this film on big screen and boy it was a journey. It’s about a writer coming back to his old town to hold a signing event for his new book. His book is about his journey with his sexuality and his first love. One of the people who comes to his signing is; his first love’s son. And he doesn’t know how to act about this.
This film is based on a book, I’d recommend reading the book too.
Just a Question of Love (2000)
My Rating: 8/10
This is a light hearted film, and I’m a sucker for French movies so it’s one of my favourites. It’s about a young lad called Laurent who falls in love with a plant scientist Cédric. Laurent wants to come out but it’s hard to do when his family is not very open minded.
Mario (2018)
My Rating: 7/10
This movie is about two young footballers, both playing for the same amateur club in Switzerland, falling for each other and having to fight against homophobia in their careers. And it’s not easy.
Punch (2022)
My Rating: 7/10 (TW: Rape)
This movie is very bittersweet. It’s about a young boxer (Jim) trying to figure his life out and along the way meeting a young and very queer Māori boy (Whetu) and befriending him. I especially love how sweet our main guy Jim is towards Whetu. Unfortunately not everyone is so sweet to our Māori boy.
Love Songs (2007)
My Rating: 9/10
It’s my favourite movie of all time and it’s a musical. But I must add, this movie is not gay but very bisexual. Our main character Ismaël (played by Louis Garrel) finds himself somehow in a polyamorous relationship with 2 women. One of these women is the love of his life Julie. Although later in the movie Ismaël meets Erwann, a very young lad who is madly in love with our heartbroken Ismaël. And their love is heartwarming.
This movie’s soundtracks are legendary. And I would recommend watching Christophe Honoré’s other movies (dir.)
Mambo Italiano (2003)
My Rating: 5/10
This movie is about an Italian/American man (Angelo) trying to come out to his family. Angelo lives with an other Italian/American roommate (yeah they were roommates) .Whole movie treats homophobia and being in the closet in a comedic manner but some parts fail with lightening the mood up. Overall a comedy drama.
So question: The disney sequels have a mostly-deserved reputation for being unnesscary cookie-cutter cash grabs. Are the any that you think were actually enjoyable?
Hi, you mean the live-action remakes, right? Actually, yes! Read below.
Yeah, I enjoyed:
Alice in Wonderland (2010) Cinderella (2015) Beauty and the Beast (2017) Christopher Robin (2018) That's it. 1. I love Alice in Wonderland (the book, and the story in general). It's special to me. Burton's Alice is an actual, genuine sequel film supposed to take place years after the events in Alice's in Wonderland. It borrows elements from the novels Disney didn't fit in in the animated version, and it brought together creative minds who were perfect for bringing Lewis Carroll's Wonderland to life in fresh ways. I like Alice in it in particular; Alice is the only female character I will tolerate people calling a 'feminism icon' or any variant of that, and in this movie, my reasons why are on full display. I could elaborate, but that would take too long, so I won't. I love Alice in Burton's movie; she's book-accurate to a T, right down to the wild mane of hair from the original illustrations, and having her champion Wonderland and rekindle her 'muchness' was a perfect character arc for an older Alice. Again, could elaborate, again, not going to. 2. Cinderella (2015) is a national treasure and there's nothing wrong with it. Nothing. It's exactly as colorful, magical, and moral as it ought to be. The writing is exquisite, the simplicity of the theme "have courage and be kind" is so well-done, and again, perfectly cast. If you're going to remake an animated classic, this is how it's done. Take the best points of the original story and expand on it; try to make it even brighter. A++. 3. Let me be clear. Let me explain about Beauty and the Beast (2017). I would rather watch the original, animated BatB every single time. I only included this film on my list because I like snow, and I like the new songs, and I like the costumes (except Belle Watson's dress, put that zipper AWAY-) and I like Ewan McGregor, and I like Emma Thompson, and I like Dan Stevens. It's a feast for the eyeballs and the ear holes, sort of like the original (but nothing even close to the original). I won't duck my head and act like I didn't have fun with this film when it first came out, or like I wouldn't turn it on late at night if it was snowing outside and I had a fire going. In the right mood, I would. Visually appealing. Musically delightful. Everything else about it is garbage, and a waste of time. I spit upon it all. Emma Watson played a plank of wood in a dress whining about women, the Beast's character arc deserved more, Gaston should have been worse, Lefou was a joke, no. No. Ew, ew, ew.
4. Christopher Robin (2018) was an actual sequel, like Alice, and everyone should watch it. Everyone should make their favorite warm drink and go get a blanket and watch it. Again, nothing wrong with it. Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Pooh is himself, Piglet is himself, they're all themselves. All of them. And Ewan McGregor was stellar. The theme, the execution, the pacing, genuinely a flawless love letter to everything about Winnie the Pooh, and Disney's version of Pooh, and the whole Hundred Acre Wood, including the ones we all had when we were children. Exactly what it should have been. No notes. A++. Yes! I enjoyed those. Had fun with those. None of the others.
OK HERE IS THE BOYGENIUS ARTICLE EVERYONE HAVE FUNN
i hit the word limit pretty quickly so i would have loved to write more and prob will add some at some point but the end is a little sudden lmaoo
boygenius – The supergroup of the decade
First introduced to the world in August of 2018, boygenius has taken the rock and roll, folk and alternative music scene by storm. Comprised of Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers, three artists with individually successful careers, boygenius came together and announced the creation of a self-titled EP by releasing three of the songs as singles on the same day: “Bite the Hand”, “Stay Down” and “Me & My Dog.” They surprised the music scene with their lyrical genius and beautifully produced tracks. In November of that year the group toured across the United States and performed on Tiny Desk, a series of live concerts hosted by the national radio program NPR Music. As a relatively new band, the publicity that this performance provided for boygenius gave them a huge boost towards stardom.
In January 2023, the group announced the release of their debut album, suitably named the record. As with their first EP, boygenius released three singles from the album — “$20”, “Emily I’m Sorry” and “True Blue” — and the cover art on the same day. The three singles were combined into a short film directed by Kristen Stewart called the film. On March 31st the record was released, with 12 tracks and no features. The album begins with “Without You Without Them” which is just the three of them vocalising. The song almost sounds unfinished, with the recording being slightly unclean and more of a show of their vocal talents. Next are “$20”, “Emily I’m Sorry” and “True Blue”, lead by Baker, Bridgers and Dacus respectively. Here the album begins to feel more like a compilation of solo works with features of the other members, which also gives listeners an idea of how their solo work might sound in comparison to how different they are as a band. However, in songs such as “Not Strong Enough” and “Cool About It”, a more collaborative feel can be seen, with all members leading verses and choruses.
The fourth track, “Not Strong Enough”, consists of a more collaborative feel. Here all three lead verses and choruses. The lyrics convey a frustration with one’s mental health, a feeling of not being able to properly be there for someone because you’re trying to figure out how to be there for yourself. It seems that another theme of this song (and many others that boygenius writes) is the devaluation of women compared to men. Women have to be “strong enough to be your man”, while also being “always an angel, never a god”. Always an angel, always pure and innocent.
the record is interesting in the way that many of the tracks have similar ideas and themes, while the production and sound quality differs greatly between songs. Moving through the album, tracks like “Satanist” and “Anti-Curse” with Baker as the lead bring boygenius to the punk rock side of the music industry, with grungy guitars, strong drums and screaming voices. For example during “Satanist”, Baker belts “I’m swimming back / See you don’t have to make it bad”. On the other side of the album are songs such as “Cool About It” and “Leonard Cohen” which are more lyrically profound and folk in genre.
The album finishes with “Letter To An Old Poet” a companion song to “Me & My Dog” from their 2018 EP. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Dacus talks about the bridge and her relationship with the song: “All three of us have struggled to actually want to be happy at times of our lives, but I think we all really deeply do want to be and often are, but it’s not a constant state. I’m so excited to sing that every night, and make Phoebe and Julien sing that every night. The stories you tell yourself about yourself come true. It’s a spell to cast.
Bridgers sums up the atmosphere of working with her best friends when asked about her relationship with the band in an interview with the music website Genius: “When asked what I think is special about our friendship and our band, I could either talk for three days or have nothing to say… its mythical and magical.”
Shawn and Niall's public dating history doesn't match the themes and narratives of their songwriting
Mannn… if you actually take the time to look at Shawn’s and Niall’s dating history…. Where are these passionate songs coming from if you buy into the general public narrative 😭 Shawn’s literally supposedly dated 2 people 😭
And it didn’t start until 2017 😭 which albums are typically written A YEAR AT LEAST before they are released. Shawn Mendes Self Titled was released on May 25, 2018. Illuminate was released on April 20, 2017.
And then he’s singing about hoping someone will be by his side and being with someone “who cares if they approve”…. The media and fans were wanting him and C to get together… where are these obstacles of being together 😭
Niall’s dating history is so weird, like, don’t even get me started. It’s so full of PR and short bursts of being with someone?? Women who have even issued statements and denied when asked that they were anything romantic??? Where are all of these passionate songs coming from?? Who is he showing up at their door soaking wet? Where are these obstacles??? Wedding song???
Why is he needing to tell someone there’s “no judgement” (it’s romantic with a “mate and… you know”. No, it’s not about Harry please stop?) when they’re together??? Who is he missing so much he needs a “new angel”?? This Town: Who is he saying “if the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you” about”?? Why wouldn’t anyone he’s been with be accepted???
There’s so much that begs to be said about all of this. Shawn invalidating his whole discography (saying it’s all about Camila???) in his documentary still makes me so incredibly sad. That doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t all line up, nor do the themes match up with his life history with her. Please 😭
Make it make sense. 🤨😭 whomever made him say that had no idea what they were doing. They expected the fans to just blindly accept what came out of his mouth.
I have talked with his fans who believe that he was writing so many songs about her… and to believe it, you have to think that he’s just sitting on the sidelines for years just pining away for her while she’s with other guys??? That doesn’t even match with his songs???
I know I’m going back and forth between the two but there’s so much of Niall’s that don’t make sense either. It starts with Barbara Palvin, who was starting out her modeling career who was connected with Niall in 2013-2014. If you don’t think he stunted, then what’s this?
Amelia Lily (yup another Amelia) 2011-2012. There’s later an article about her DENYING anything went on and that she was actually dating an electrician dude.
He was connected briefly with Ellie Goulding who would greatly benefit from the clout boost in Aug-Sept 2013. Meh. Standard music industry stuff.
Melissa Whitelaw, an Australian student, Feb-June 2015 so says a DM article. There’s papwalks complete with the weird backseat photos. Her looking out the window while Niall is awkwardly trying to cope with what he’s being subjected to, see below.
And there’s Celine Helene Vandycke, yet another student. This time she’s Belgian. They show up at events with his arm around her shoulders. They’re only together about a month or two in 2016. Again, here’s the customary car backseat photo published in DM.
And then there Hailee Steinfeld, in 2017-2018. Niall never confirms it but there’s really awkward (while walking across the street?? Like??? Wtf???) kissing pics that exist. She wears his merch. She shows up to a m&g during his tour. They “breakup” then the narrative is she released a song called “Wrong Direction” but denies it’s about him. (Great PR move, Hailee.)
Then it brings us to Amelia Woolley, pandemic lockdown lady. Met in Apr 2020, UK lockdown started in Mar. Dramatic story how they met in tabloids. Niall tore her away from her electrician boyfriend. They now do papwalks and she shows up at golf and events. Everyone forgets about her.
So….. I repeat…. where’s the kind of longterm love along the ways that’s sparked their work and matches the themes of their songs??? Please let me know if you find it???
And yes I know there’s some typos, the timeline also isn’t exact. But that’s the thing about these “relationships” that are arranged. Dates are messy because no one actually knows them. 😂
what I assume about you based on your favorite ghost and pals song
happy days, appetite of a people pleaser, hyperdontia, or chattering (2019): you're in middle school
novocaine or the distortionist: you most likely call them hot and you scare me. probably also in middle school tbh
candle queen: you're not really a ghost fan you just know this one song
honey i'm home: you're either genuinely a fan of the lyrics and themes or you just like charon and/or charon x norman
reckless battery burns: good taste this song is very well produced and the pv is cool BUT. I know you care more about tamari
aura: you like women.
star of the show: you like women. and you're the "me and the bad bitch I pulled by being autistic" meme as a person
the things I deserve: you ALSO like women and you're either really going through it or this song got you through it
amygdala's rag doll: you either know it from the animation memes or you're overcome with a boiling hot rage every time someone calls it trypophobia
rotary dial: you probably relate to henry unfortunately
black & white: you have bad taste (it's okay, me too I love this one) but you're genuinely so sweet tbh
housewife radio: you're correct and probably sympathize with nancy. also more than likely you can or have done a full analysis of every little detail in this song
colorbars: you're into glitchy and digital aesthetics and you much prefer this design over his broadcast illusion one. if you're a. certain way. you might simplify him down to Gay but cmon people we are past that it is 2023
anything from nothing perfect that's NOT perfect nothing: you chose the "i'm not like other girls" option but that's okay because it's an under appreciated ep
perfect nothing: you think you chose the "i'm not like other girls" option. banger song though
those who carried on or two of a kind: I am in love with you. dystopian stuff is your vibe and you're really curious about the pv wip characters/wish it wasn't left unfinished
spider on the wall (2018)(my fav): you scare me. objectively bad taste (affectionate)
spider on the wall (2022): you scare me worse. objectively bad taste (DEROGATORY)
in iolite or chelovek: do you exist (HI I LOVE YOU) if you do you love it when ghost does stuff that's actually different and cool
uncanny, adapertio, or I had to die to survive: you'll cling onto any oc or relationship ghost drops and you probably had theories about uncanny and adapertio when you saw the similarities
culpability or pierre janet's criminal defense: you stuck around during the slow period/hiatus and I will, for some reason, assume you're an older fan
entomologists (2019): I don't think you exist either but I love you. a lot. really into the "bug" part of industrial catholic bugcore
scapeg♾️at: you relate HARD to this song. want to see your abusers in the GROUND. probably a real petty person but I admire that
deathbody: nobody seems to really like this one for some reason? but if you DO I assume you're an older fan who related to foolish and/or ttid in your youth
end world normopathy: be honest you're here for tamari
#this has been sitting in my drafts since november so it had uncanny listed as a 'new release' LMAOOO#ghost and pals#meows
my chemical romance has always been a band about death. bullets' bonnie and clyde, three cheers' resurrection-rampage plot, black parade's dying main character, danger days' "where the good guys die and the bad guys win". the vampires and corpse-like make-up and lyrics constantly looking to the end. 1000+ hits when you google: "death-obsessed" "my chemical romance". gerard way's "if we never play another show again, keep yourself alive" in 2008, when the band had an exhausting few years and an uncertain future (video, article).
it took a few years, but the band eventually played its last show. it wasn't just a break or dissolution. the band died. their final song was released posthumously in 2/14 and it was titled "fake your death" -- not a hint at reunification, but a finale that put to rest who they were as my chemical romance. as gerard way said: "i don't think my chemical romance is supposed to happen again. i think it's supposed to stay beautiful forever; it's a beautiful thing. it's supposed to die young in the car wreck" (kerrang , 7/14).
dying young has haunted my chem as long as death has. every single main character of theirs' was both dead and young: irl demolition lovers on the LOTMS cd, the patient being "too young to die", the fab four being teenagers according to the killjoys: california comics. even gun's "never gonna have a son" and "if im old enough to die for your mistakes / then let's go". even helena, who is directly about the ways' grandmother, is played by a young actor -- with make-up matching the bands'. there were fears surrounding gerard's health ending the band then at one point his life, as stated by brian schechter in LOTMS. after the band ended, mikey and frank had near-death experiences. gerard released hestiant alien's how it's going to be, a song about "waking up from the dream and realizing it's not exactly what you wanted" (video): "you said we'd all be dead by twenty five" and "we're just bored you're still alive". the entertainment industry is marked by the iconization of artists who died young. the 90s - 00s was a time + place defined by DARE and AIDS and young veterans. the band coincided with BIG life changes (sky-rocketing careers, new families).
this is all to say that my chem tightly links youth and death. there is also a great emphasis on death as a performance -- dedicating songs and albums and theatre productions and art and stories and appearances to it. the aesthetic of death.
though the band died young, its people didnt. years went by. my impression as an outsider to that time is that even without reason (least of all from these fuckin guys), hope didnt die. it laid dormant. the group friendship and musical relationship was revived sometime 2017 - 2018 because of a family bbq (podcast, quote). that was two years of possibility before they decided to return in 2019. after some hurdles where hope never diminished, they began their first tour after a decade -- filled with projects and personal hardships and children growing up -- in 2022.
this tour has been marked by their visible and stated joy. not a nostalgia tour, not an album tour, but a chance to "reintroduce ourselves to the world" (podcast, quote). the sources of joy are endless (isnt that just so beautiful??) one of them is discovering the link btwn living and old age.
theyre still about death, theyre still about youth, theyre still about drama. gerard's dressed as princess diane and joan darc, famous women who died young. the when we were young night 2 costumes are bout the horror of aging but not changing. it's a forever mcr theme.
Little Women Ranked
One of my favorite books of all time is Little Women. Last fall I watched and read everything related to the series. Here's a simple ranking of all of that.
The Book (obviously)
Whether you consider the book just Little Women or with Good Wives, there is no deny this is the absolute best version of the story.
2. Little Women (1978)
This is, in my opinion, the best adaptation of the novel. The characters felt real and accurate and it was just a delight. It had so much heart. Also I am a Greer Garson as Aunt March stan. William Shatner did his absolute best at Fritz. I just adore this version. I will say that I am a sucker for tv movies though.
3. Little Women (2017)
I love this version. In accuracy, it's not always the best (especially character wise) and the third episode feels very rushed at times, but I still love it. I'm absolutely obsessed with Meg and John in this version. Meg and Beth are my profile picture lol. I just really enjoy this version.
4. Little Women (1994)
In terms of movies, this one is the best. This is the one I recommend to everyone and despite my (minimal) issues with it, I still watch it all the time. It's just so lovely. Also this one just has a more distinctly Christmas feel than any of the others.
5. Little Women (1933)
While not my favorite, I still enjoyed watching this version. Katherine Hepburn played a great Jo and I would love to watch this again sometime.
6. Little Women (1949)
This has the same script as the 1933 version, however, I am not a fan of a few small changes made, such as Beth being younger than Amy. June Allyson is not my favorite Jo, which also lowers this one slightly. Margaret O'Brien played an amazing Beth and was definitely the best thing about this version. I also just recently listened to the Lux Radio Theater adaptation of this movie and it just solidified my opinions of this being a mid adaptation.
7. Little Women (2019)
The Most controversial version on this list, I cannot say that I enjoy it. It makes so many changes from the novel, that it honestly makes me mad. However, this one places so high on the list do to it's watchability. Every other entry under this one I would never watch a second time. This one at least has the benefit of being high quality. Plus all my friends love this one (none of them have ever read the book and it makes me sad), so if I try hard enough I can separate this version from the book and at least watch a decent movie (although it is hard).
8. Little Women (1970)
I wanted to like this version, I really did, it was so extremely book accurate, but it was also really boring. This does have the most book accurate portrayal of Laurie in my opinion, though.
9. Little Women (2018)
This just overall was not that good. Jo was very mean and aggressive and Laurie was kind of creepy, in my opinion. I also disliked that this was made by a Christian company and did not include any of the Christian themes and statements made throughout the novel.
10. Little Women Meg's Story and Jo's Story
This two parter was hard to watch. It made it so love story heavy, and was also just not good quality or fun to watch. Everything was so rushed. I did like the focus on Meg and John in the first part though. I also enjoyed the random 1950 commercials throughout the version on youtube.
11. The March Sisters at Christmastime
This was just bad. Nothing really redeemable about it. It was a very hard watch.
Bonus:
These were some adaptations that I watched, but find hard to rank, due to them not being movies or tv shows.
Little Women (1958) Soundtrack
This is the soundtrack for the the 1958 CBS tv musical, which is not technically lost media, but is not available to the general public. The first half of the soundtrack is songs from the special, and the second half is covers of some other songs from musicals or were popular at the time. The songs are quite fun, but what I hear from reports of what happens in the special, it is not accurate to the novel at all.
Little Women (2005) musical
I am not really a fan of Sutton Foster, nor am I a fan of this musical. It is a classic case of not understanding Jo March, her writing, and her relationship with Professor Bhaer.
Little Women Ballet
This was fun to watch. I don't know much about ballet, so I cannot really judge it. If I remember correctly, this is just an adaptation of the first half of the novel.
Tales of Little Women
Little Women (1981)
These are both anime adaptations of the novel. I only watched the first episode of each, and from what I know they kind of make up plot lines. I enjoyed them for what they were, but I will probably not watch them again.
I unfortunately did not watch the Little Women Opera or the March Family Letters as Operas and vlog series are not really my thing, but maybe I will get around to them.
Anyway, this concludes my ranking of Little Women. If you see this please let me know your thoughts on any of these adaptations.
So how do we go to this to what we famously know now with Cardi B and Nicki Minaj this is the 2018 Met gala. Jeremy Scott was designing both Cardy and Nikki‘s dresses. I believe and the theme was Catholicism. I believe if not Catholicism religion. Azealia Banks said when you see wars with men in the hip-hop industry online, it’s really a love is tiff And as we know by now in the industry, your have to be pansexual or it will at least bisexual that’s just how it seems to work, I know a lot of you may not believe but I alone items but how come so I’m glad. It’s just like the Nikki and Kim situation, so if it’s the same situation, we have Nicki, Minaj and Lil’ Kim in the early 2000 late 2000s even Nicki Minaj is known by many ofher peers for not liking them specially women, and and industry, you’ll see love its death but the industry also loves a good PR move where they will set up a thing where two people hate each other did round to give them both publicity going into their charts and their kids are Sagittarius, son and Aquarius rising and a Virgo moon, Cardi B is a libra son and Aries moon, and wherever you want to believe which ever source some people said she said on Instagram is who she has Sagittarius rising and obviously say she’s an Aries rising and personally seeing the look more of a Sagittarius rising, especially of her hair and her look and her face shape, but I can always see the Aries rising in her. Let’s face it they’re both fire signs anyway, so they have quite quality qualities that are similar. Rhianna is an Aries rising and she has a cockiness and good sense of humour and can be a laugh so she could have that anyway from just having an Aries moon. So how did this all start this started when Cardi B and Nicki Minaj both worked on a track called motorsport ,with the with the Migos, and they were never in the video together, they would do it separately, and one of the verses on it, you felt was disrespectful to her from nicki….. so they change the lyrics so are they were aimed at quavo, instead because women be fighting a lot and these two women have more in common than they probably realise or care to realise and a lot of it came from Nikki was defending for my remember black women, because Cardi B said some, women’s child look like a monkey and Dominicans are so I’ve been told very funny about their race. They don’t admit to being black a lot of the time when it’s clearly they’ve got black and Spanish roots so having her cancer cancer rules anyway, but Mars cancer even more so because you have to remember with Mars that Mars is your essence of your characteristic, how you move in the world, how you are every day how you are physically physically as in moving around and physically how you look so I has been up for a lot of times same how they talk with Meghan Markle who also has her Mars in cancer. It’s just one of those things are going out in her life. The picture we have at the top is at the Gala and Cardi B is pregnant and I don’t know if anything gets happened at this point I’m guessing not, but I feel like something might have, but Cardi B let’s face. It was probably stripping to Nikki‘s songs so when it came where they had their fight it was at the harpers, bizarre fashion event and Cardi B threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj Nicki Minaj kept saying I’m right here I’m right here get me I’m right here but no realised that she had her bodyguard which I thought was weird is a female someone called raw Ali, she’s really pretty, but she’s very big anyway they’re two different sides. Of course you leave the event with a massive bump on her head so she got she said she got hit by security or hurt by security where as Nikki said on her radio that she got beat in the crap out of my raw Ali, who is Nikki security so maybe she saying in undertone I don’t know but maybe Nikki had loads of security around her and that’s why she didn’t get hurt because card had only just come out that year so she’s not gonna have as much money or as much of
Team.
Anyway, Nikki‘s Capricorn, marsis in opposition to Cardi B‘s Mars in cancer, so saying that Cardi B could’ve felt frightened by Nikki‘sm Nikki’s essence and her character and her personality and her energy ,in a manipulative way, because cancer can be manipulative, and Capricorns can initiative but mars and Capricorn love fame Capricorn,in MARS I see it being a massive fame placement and a lot of charts because I’m also doing scrapbooking too with my astrology and then, Cardi B‘s whole aggression could’ve felt frightening to Nikki‘s image. Anyway, we’re gonna leave it at that leave fusing to Azealia Banks and all her feuds had enough of that for one day. These women have both matured and become others, and as far as I know, there’s no more feuds with these two. Let’s keep it that way let me know who side you’re on. Let me know if you’re on impartial. Let me know if you think it was all here and let me also know what you think on the matter. Thank you kiss kiss kiss XOXO
