Looks can be deceiving, aren't they?

Her main job is to gather information for the mob, so same as her original version, Daria always knows the weather, just in a bit different way, assisting in planning missions and making sure the environment for them is safe, including getting rid of targets that get in the way of the "family's" success.
Has a habit of calling others pet names. If you're her victim too dw. Will call you "sugar" in your face and then stab you in the back lol-
Daria always wears her usual ambitious and flamboyant personality, though , for example, Frank would rather call her pretty insufferable (pretty AND insufferable as I like to say:3 ).
I mean he's not wrong, you gotta have some strong nerves or similar personality so her company would be bearable- still her humorous and energetic self, her kindness and care are rather performative than her original version, Daria would help someone else only if they're part of the family/it's in her interest and she'd get something in return. But if you really caught her eye, you're cherished as the most precious thing in her life-
Convinced she can get whatever she wants.. And she will! One way or another, bad or good - Daria will get to her goal

"Me? A journalist? You're making me laugh, darlin'. " But they're not joking, Daria! Oh if only you remembered- well, at least now you'll always remember what you get for being too nosy

Part of what charms and compels me in Jeyne Poole's arc is her reaction to her predicament. All the female POVs in this book are dealing with a lot of gendered violence, and they all deal in different but dignified forms... Jeyne is not a POV character and she is absolutely not dignified lol. She cries and begs, she is utterly helpless. But unlike most women in this book who are utterly helpless, she survives. It's frustrating how fans refuse to celebrate that, simply because there is no glory in it.
#Sometimes I wonder if that's part of why fandom is so uncharitable towards her#like if she had some self-sacrificing sense of dignity maybe people would like her more... if she were resourceful or proud#boo!#she's perfect#i also think the absurd notion of arya 'mercy killing' her stems from this too? tbh#like - you think this woman is too pathetic to live? that even if she escaped bluebeard's castle her life is better over?#people will call grrm a grimdark author but this shit you see in fandom is 100000% more cruel than anything this man wrote#her pain is too real to her for games of honor to hold any meaning! she tears the veil she ruins the veneer#she has no noble bearing no honor no ambition no wolf no lover no knight she will not rise from this taller and wiser#none of the ways in which she'll change will be for the better and her pain will only reward her with more pain - the pain is worthless!#here is a child-bride suffering and nothing about that suffering can be made beautiful or meaningful- besides her escape#which theon instantly romanticizes.... what a moment#we flew!#i can't wait to read about her again#jeyne poole

as a female engineering student i am so grateful to have representation like poppy li. too many “woman in stem” characters are, on top of being really smart, also really cool and really pretty but POPPY is a piece of shit, awkward as hell, egotistical little gremlin addicted to candy, power, and validation. she is the smartest person at mythic quest and also the weirdest person you’ve ever met. i love her so much
#she is so me#no but on a serious note it’s actually very refreshing#she’s pretty but it’s not a character trait. she’s smart but she’s not humble about it.#she doesn’t diminish her talents because she’s POPPY FUCKING LI lead engineer at mq and she knows she’s smart! she knows she’s awesome!#she’s proud of it and she wants more! she knows she’s equal (or better) than ian and fights for her rights in the game instead of just —#—being the cool humble laidback hot token woman in stem who only exists to hook up w the main character and then solve some overly —#—complicated problem once and then stand back in the shadows while the male main character resumes his place at the top#like shes so fucking awkward and weird and real and i love her so much i love her SO MUCH#what an amazing character design#i love your work megan ganz#mythic quest#poppy li

Season 8 of Brooklyn 99 did not have a lot of good writing decisions, but one writing decision that I definitely appreciate now is the decision to not write a pregnancy arc for Rosa despite her actress, Stephanie Beatriz, being pregnant at the time. I don't know for sure why they made that decision--maybe it's because they realized Rosa having children wouldn't make sense for her character, maybe it's because they didn't think there was enough space for a pregnancy arc on top of the other storylines they were (poorly) attempting to tackle in a season that would only be 10 episodes, maybe it was combination of both. But either way, it was definitely a good decision from a character standpoint to not force a pregnancy arc on her simply because her actress was pregnant, even if it meant they had to put Rosa in loose, baggy clothes to hide Stephanie Beatriz's pregnancy. I hadn't really appreciated this at the time because, well, I thought it was an obvious decision. Why would you write in a pregnancy just because the actress is pregnant, if it doesn't make sense for the character? But now, looking back, I am much more appreciative of the writers for doing this. This newfound appreciation certainly has nothing to do with a certain show I'm watching now deciding to write in a stupid ass pregnancy arc for a character that makes zero sense for the character, just because the actress is pregnant, as if they forgot that TV and movies have been covering up IRL pregnancies and letting pregnant actors' characters still be not-pregnant for decades!
#not that b99 is completely free of this to be fair#they did give gina a pregnancy arc even though in the episode with sharon giving birth gina was obviously disgusted by pregnancy in general#but yeah#gosh. it's almost like you don't have to shove real life pregnancies of the actors into their characters!#my issue with the pregnancy arc in mythic quest so far (yeah i'm not going to pretend that's not the show this is about)#is that. i mean it's pretty well written and nuanced. but it doesn't make sense for *poppy*#it feels like a pregnancy storyline stapled onto poppy and it just doesn't fit#s says some words#this definitely stems from general attitudes undervaluing what a serious decision pregnancy is#and how dangerous it can be#simply because It's Just What Everyone Is Supposed To Do#so writers don't put a lot of thought into whether a character would actually want a pregnancy or a child#because Of Course They Do! They Must! Every Woman Does!#as someone who does not want children this continues to be very frustrating to me#i've seen a lot of pregnant patients and what pregnancy does to the body#it shouldn't be a light decision! and people should be allowed to opt out if they want!

so now that vesperas dead do you think we'll actually get a real backstory for her yes or no
#GOD. my guess is the gang will have to investigate something regarding vespera and find out her real backstory.#maybe go to luzia for help 👀#and by backstory i mean. how did she go numb. how did she start experimenting on humans.#that kind of thing#although tbh i think just being in stem is enough to make a woman numb lmao#anyway i will stand by the fact that vespera was incredibly wasted potential#her character was such a cool concept and she ATE in nightfall#and then after that she was just kind of. gisela p2.#which ties into gispera toxic yuri ig. if youre insane enough. do you see the vision.#sorry for gispera posting twice in one week ill be back to normal soon i promise#kotlc#lady vespera

lapsed stem major who seethes impotently every time they call Love Is Blind an "experiment" bc they use a cherry-picked sample, no control group, and no statistical analysis, and it's probably not even peer-reviewed
#Love Is Blind#science#nick lachey watch your back i am snitching on you to your middle school science teacher#this is a joke except for when stem professionals go on the show and say it's totally a real experiment and THEN i actually get gamer rage#yeah you could say i'm a woman in stem#我的#字

I hate to break it to Republicans but at this point most of the so called "DEI hires" in workplaces are white men who don't have the skills, certificates, degrees, and/or experience for the job and only got their positions because a friend of a friend got them hired. Like women, non-white people, queer people, disabled people, and many others all know they'd be first on the chopping block at their job which is why they are usually the ones most qualified, and even overqualified, in their workplace. They're the ones with the degrees, years of experience, tons of skills, and who meet or exceed expectations at their job. They're the ones who work their asses off and keep the place running. And when it comes to cutting people, managers and administrators only care about who can keep the lights on and the numbers high. So Bradley, who only got the job because a family member convinced the manager to hire him even though he was not qualified at all, and he's doing the bare minimum every month, and he sucks to work with, is getting cut first. Simple as that.
#someone of you don't want to hear this#but you need to hear it#now is this applicable to every workplace?#no! BUT#for the majority of places it is#example where i work as a lab tech#my degree my lab experience and my skills got me hired#my work ethic my pleasant demeanor and my reliability keep me employed#compare all of that to another lab tech who works in a lab two doors down#who got the job because his uncle convinced his boss to hire him#who doesnt have a stem degree or lab experience#and who regularly either no call no shows or leave four hours early even when he has projects#if the budget gets tight and someones gotta go i know its not me#because i worked my ass off for this position and work to keep it#and he doesn't#you coule argue im a so called dei hire as a queer woman#but lets be real here#if we put our resumes our degrees our references and our skills side by side#i know who's getting chosen every time#my ramblings#not tf

hallo friends and pals, pronoun update to he/they 🧍 also in bio now that i decided to be more of a person on here
i've always been flexible and they/them is still ok just trying to deal with the growing unease inside me about my best self and what i could be if i leaned a bit more into my natural self and forget propriety.
#let's go social transition!!!!#at school too in the social sector (teaching) my colleagues and boss. super supportive of nb!hugs#in the STEM sector??? engineering??? oh nononono. non non. and silly girl don't bother with electronics even though i topped my class#and carried like 5 freshmen boys through the exams#be so fr i take my place as a woman very strongly. medical and educational gaps are real and i carve out space for that#but i also ... know i don't belong in a more social sense#tw gender dysphoria#??? maybe#it's not that deep i think but i lend credence to my emotions#most ppl just call me hugs HAHAHA no pronouns needed#doesn't hugs have such a they/them vibe?? i love it. if it could be my legal name i would. idk#for the record i've been a they all this time. he used to be a bonus but now feels nonneglible to my life so id be so so grateful#if you could help me along 🙏

getting a LOT of submissions for evil scientist moms who experiment on their kids. I wonder at the widespread connection in media between presenting a woman as cold/cruel/unmotherly/inherently evil and their non-traditionally feminine careers
#feel like I should have done my reading before making this poll#to be clear I AM that woman in STEM and I don't plan on having kids#but from the way its presented in a lot of media it's implied it's like that's bc scientist women are unnatural and inherently callous#when in real life (in my own experience at least) I know so many warm and wonderful mothers who are also passionate about sciences#and I really love children I have younger siblings and cousins I took care of but for various reasons I don't want to have my own#mod speaks

so much of a 21st century woman that i legitimately had to have a guy in my YA lit class explain to me how men's emotions work because i've only ever heard about it from idiotic women speaking for men or super macho guys who think any form of emotion is utter weakness for my entire life
#idk yall men are interesting#something about how they're way less nuanced than women#like girls expect the same level of emotional complexity with guys as is evident in us#which means like 45 different feelings all at the same time and playing into the stability of our psyches#meanwhile the guy might legit just be tired#such an interesting conversation and now i think i have to find music that accurately portrays what he told me about how men actually#like#feel emotions#this is so random i hate being a modern woman#like i love my right to vote and my ability to get high paying jobs and a stem degree if i had desired but like#women don't know how men work and it's a problem because we think they're like us and they're not and it's unfair for us to speak for them#but like we don't know what's real anymore either#blargh#thanks random guy in my upper level english class for your candor you answered a lot of my questions#there are many benefits to attending a catholic college
