🤎 The Woma Python, endemic to Australia, is typically around 4.5' long. It's nocturnal, and when travelling across hot sands, it lifts itself off the ground, reaching forward, and then pushes itself off the ground again.

"We played one sound which produced ground vibrations, while the other two were airborne only," Dr. Zdenek said. "It meant we were able to test both types of 'hearing'—tactile hearing through the snakes' belly scales and airborne through their internal ear." The reactions strongly depended on the genus of the snakes. "Only the woma python tended to move toward sound, while taipans, brown snakes and especially death adders were all more likely to move away from it," Dr. Zdenek said. "The types of behavioral reactions also differed, with taipans in particular more likely to exhibit defensive and cautious responses to sound." Dr. Zdenek said the different reactions are likely because of evolutionary pressures over millions of years, designed to aid survival and reproduction. "For example, woma pythons are large nocturnal snakes with fewer predators than smaller species and probably don't need to be as cautious, so they tended to approach sound," Dr. Zdenek said. "But taipans may have to worry about raptor predators and they also actively pursue their prey, so their senses seem to be much more sensitive." Dr. Zdenek said the findings challenge the assumption that snakes can't hear sound, such as humans talking or yelling, and could reshape the view on how they react to sound. "We know very little about how most snake species navigate situations and landscapes around the world," Dr. Zdenek said. "But our study shows that sound may be an important part of their sensory repertoire." "Snakes are very vulnerable, timid creatures that hide most of the time, and we still have so much to learn about them."
Dr. Christina Zdenek from UQs School of Biological Sciences, in collaboration with QUT’s Professor Damian Candusso, played three different sound frequencies to captive-bred snakes one at a time in a soundproof room and observed their reactions.
“Because snakes don’t have external ears, people typically think they’re deaf and can only feel vibrations through the ground and into their bodies,” Dr. Zdenek said.
“But our research—the first of its kind using non-anesthetized, freely moving snakes—found they do react to soundwaves traveling through the air, and possibly human voices.”

Hi 👋 I followed your blog on an old account a while ago and I’m glad I’ve found you again.
this is my woma Gordon Ramsay and he’s from a reduced pattern line (which will hopefully start to show when he’s older)
but I’m curious how much you know about woma morphs because I don’t know very many except this one and it’s not really a morph
He's a beauty!
So, to be entirely honest, "morph" is kind of a strong word for woma python breeders in general. There is definitely some pattern variation out there and there are breeders working to see to what extent these variations can be passed on, but I wouldn't say there are really any established morphs in the trade yet. A lot of the variations we see are regional variations (like your reduced pattern young man), and it's hard to tell if they could even become what we'd call morphs through selective breeding! This really isn't helped by the fact that woma pythons are nigh-impossible to find in the pet trade outside of Australia as it's illegal to export Australian native species, so it's a very limited playing field.
However, there are a few patterns that I keep hearing about that might really shake out!
The big one is patternless. This the closest I'd come to calling any woma variations a true morph.

And I'm not sure if there's a name for these, but snakes with one stripe down the back:

And it's also becoming increasingly common to find melanistic womas in the pet trade! As far as I've heard, though, breeding for them is currently pretty hit-or-miss.

plus if we can make some about snakes because they always think snakes are demons too and i have an absolute dumbass sock puppet of a woma python
and its the fact that the cult leader did a whole ass breakdown of the roots of the word "serpent" used in the bible and determined that it wasnt a snake or even a reptile in general 😩

hey fellow seizureheads
not a meme, but i need help in the form of memes
responding memes are welcome in my dms.
i have a lot of people from the cults i was raised in on my socials and most of them believe the bullshit of seizures being demonic manifestations, especially if you end up having one in church, even if you are previously diagnosed. theyre more likely to believe you if you've already been diagnosed, but still think that seizures are demonic manifestations, and i wouldnt put it past some of the "holy roller" cults ive been to (not churches, actual cults) to think that having a seizure during the appropriate time is an act of God working on someone. ive already posted on my stories maybe a year ago the meme about the causes of seizures and the "unknown" part being "demons," and cited the Bible verse that differentiates between actual demons and epilepsy. i also dont know how to meme away the fact that epilepsy genuinely isnt a curable condition because to eliminate the probability of seizures altogether would result in brain death. i need some help to meme away this bullshit belief
i also need memes to raise awareness of epileptic psychosis versus demons because ive seen the story of annaeliese michael
pls spread this far and wide because i need ammunition for this. i know its not that time of year yet, but this shit pissed me off and i need the raised awareness now

Dating apps are for correcting peoples snake misinfo actually. Guy tried to tell me that woma pythons are a human bred species that were accidentally released as if thats how it works, as if i havent studied central australian indigenous cultures and dont know theyve been significant parts of the oral history of many nations as if thats even how speciation works rahh
