Thank you all! (Sorry not to respond earlier - I wound up taking a mostly offline weekend because my brain was busy Doing A Thing.)

It was a very good day and cats and cake and hugs all played a prominent and welcome role!

My 46th year was kind of a tumultuous and difficult one. I’m hoping the 47th can show some improvement. (For example, I wrote a grand total of 0 words of fic during my 46th year, and I’m about to go attempt some. *vibrates nervously*

All hugs are welcome, belated or otherwise :D He seems to be doing ... okay. As expected, really. I’m giving him some space to do the things he needs to do (move, get his old house in proper order for the renter, get a new routine in play for his kids, etc.), but once things settle down, I very much plan on distracting him. Maybe we’ll write something together :D Thank you for the hugs, friend <3

Oh, we’ve had an absolutely MARVELOUS spring. Even last night was gorgeous and I got a rainbow and even a few drops of rain and everything :D BUT I REALLY HATE SUMMER SO I DON’T CARE HOW ON TIME IT IS I’M STILL MAD ABOUT IT. *ahem* I’m also an adult and I can handle unpleasant weather with a sense of decorum and maturity. Pip pip, cheerio, stiff upper lip, etc., etc. *cries about it anyway*

IT SURE TF IS! But! I’ve been really good this year. I got myself ORGANIZED, and I made HOURLY CHECKINS, and I’M ACTUALLY DOING REALLY WELL. So things are Super Stressful right now, it’s true. But I’ve set things up so that I can manage the anxiety, and it’s made all the difference :D I’m having lots of stress dreams where I get off on the wrong exit on the freeway that’s gonna make me late for the plane I have to catch, but in real life I’m doing just fine :D

Olivia realizes, as she leaves the battery slightly mortified that she actually said we can test your reach and my flexibility and then gave him that look, that she doesn’t know how to do this.  

Sex, yes. Well, sex with turians, no, but she has a few people she can ask and, failing that, the extranet’s sure to have wildly inaccurate videos she can get the basic ideas from. So she can figure out the sex.  

But after one has just laid an immensely cheesy line onto her friend and propositioned him - and after said friend had stumbled surprisingly toward agreeing with her - how does one then initiate the encounter? An email: You are cordially invited this Saturday to Commander Shepard’s quarters for sex and light drinks. Or, and she’s not sure if this is worse or better, a text: wanna bang? followed by the winking emoji.  

Fortunately, there’s a bit of a distraction with Miranda’s sister and then, a few days later, Garrus handles it. A text - dinner? And research?

3, 8, 18, 19 for Kylie?

3. How did you choose their name? I needed a name to get out of the character generator and start the game. I dug deep into the pile of Old OC Names and found her somewhere in the middle. Interestingly, I think a lot of her personality was informed by her name.

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story? Liking strawberries, and feeling like a fraud and/or failure at every attempt at leadership. Also, shoes are stupid.

18. What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC? That she is not, in fact, a necromancer. I was trying to do...something in fic and make the whole “make the necromancer specialization I chose in-game make sense” and failed spectacularly. She was much happier with me when I tossed the whole necromancer thing out the window and just stuck with storms and shapeshifting.

19. What is your favorite fact about your OC? I don’t know, man, she can conjure a hurricane. That’s pretty baller.

5, 14, 17, 45 for Liv?

5: On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets? lip balm is the only thing she keeps in her pockets, specifically. There’s a lot of other stuff she carries around with her daily (omnitool, water bottle, occasionally a tablet and/or laptop, notebook and pen). I feel like most things requiring keys are all done biometrically by the 22nd century.

14: Does your character remember names or faces easier? Before the Reaper War, names. After the Reaper War, and after she’s brought back from pretty catastrophic physical trauma, faces. There was some brain damage Miranda couldn’t fix that affected her memory a bit. Nothing dramatic or serious, but she remembers faces way better than names or circumstances now.

17: What was your character’s favorite toy as a child? There’s a teddy bear she’s been lugging around since Mindoir. 

45: What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them? She’s already been dead, and already spent some time in the afterlife. She was reunited with her brother and father, and while she has absolutely no conscious memory of this, she knows that the afterlife is a nice, happy place where she’ll see her loved ones again. It only scares her in the sense that, when she dies, she knows it’ll be a long time before she’s reunited with her kids (but even then, she’s at a weird kind of peace with it, because it means she’ll see Garrus and her mom again).

24, 25, 35, 36 for Nora?

24: How quick is your character to trust someone else? I mean, she trusts people. She’s not walking around paranoid and suspicious of everyone she meets. Nora has pretty good situational awareness and is an amazing judge of character.

25: How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person? Again, she’s a great judge of character, so if she suspects you right off the bat, it’s for a reason. The people she’s closest to have never (and will never) given her reason to suspect them of anything, but I feel like, if they did, she’d be pretty blind to it until whatever it is became super obvious. 

35: How does your character behave around people they like? already answered

36: How does your character behave around people they dislike? She gets really polite. Like, aggressively polite.

I am home! And running on rapidly-fading adrenaline, a cheeseburger and gummy worms from like 18 hours ago, and stimulants. I am going to crash.

but it was so worth it. the show was amazing, seeing @wolverineproportions and her family was excellent, getting out of the damn house and away from cancer and ongoing work stupidity and even my cats was so so good.
