"My fee is 69 dollars an hour plus tax." Nova joked thinking her jokes are finding.

"Childhood friend turned mystery." Nova said. "But your new name is Case Study of Reappearance number 777-The case of the wolfy-witch." There was a gentle nudge. "It means you won't be replaced." Nova said with a chuckle. There was a betrayal in that laugh. "We'll see but there's no one as of this conversation." There was a small laugh. "There's a frequent patients who are cops but I'm not sure they count."

"No no. We're adults we should be able to. What is it like though?"Nova asked quickly. She took a big gulp of water. Nova raised an eyebrow at the mention of the scars. "I want to see them and biopsy them for reasons." Nova said in an odd tone. She was curious if Brigg's biology was different from hers. There was a small sigh in response. She longed to be that friend but it was okay. "I'm happy you have a best friend- I want to meet them now."

Nova rolled her eyes and sipped some more water. "Some dreams are meant to be dreams, Briggs." Nova said.

There was a goofy grin and her ears turned red. "T-thank you. I wanted to look good for my first dance." Nova smirked. "You didn't look too bad yourself. I had fun with you." Nova said. "I just-" Nova didn't want to finish the sentence. "wish it lasted longer." She couldn't help but wonder if Briggs stayed, what would they have been together. Nova shook her head.

Their paths had diverged and they were too different now.

Nova bowed after Brigg's statement. Even as a wealthy person, Nova was taught to show respect to the staff. "Please take of me." Nova said in a sincere tone.

"If it isn't too much trouble do you have cacio e pepe." She asked. "If not mac and cheese is okay it's essentially the same thing." She said quickly.

"Good, she's pretty cool to have around."

He just shrugged. "Could be a worse one," he admitted with a slight tug on his lips. "But if I did ever need tutoring, I know who I'd ask."

"See, now that does make me feel better, I get my own category. What's the category called or is it named after me too?" His brows furrowed a little quizzically at the like you but not you thing, but he got it, so he didn't say anything more about it. "You won't tell me?" He shook his head, an exhaled laugh, "harsh."

His nose scrunched in a bit of a wince as she put it together. "Sorry, I tried to put it delicately. We don't have to talk about it. It's just how I deal with everything. But I'm safe, I promise. I got plenty of scars though, if you wanna see those--not a lot in the fun way though." The rosy hues in her cheeks were evidence enough that their experience levels were not the same. "Anyway, then I've got my best friend, she's the real relationship in my life."

"That sounds like something that needs to be knitted on a pillow," he joked. It wasn't like New Orleans was a small town, so the odds had to be astronomical. He didn't know how to feel about that.

He really shouldn't have told her, trying to keep her from as much of this stuff as he could, but he--he just did. Maybe he wanted her to know he'd become a lot of things over the years, but a killer wasn't one of them...yet. "Well, damn, alright. I like the way you dream." With a wink, he gave her a playful nudge.

"Being surprised," he finally settled on, not sure how to boil it down in the simplest way, "not in a bad way. You hadn't really dressed like that before. I mean, you didn't need all that, but yeah, you looked...good." Shaking his head, he checked his glass which was unfortunately still empty.

"No, it's not," he quipped, closing his hand around hers and dragging her toward the kitchen anyway. Pushing the door open with his free hand, he greeted again, "Chef! Before you say anything, it's not even for me--I mean, I'm also going to eat--but my friend's hungry. And isn't that what you live for? To feed people."

A groan. Briggs looked at Nova, "that means yes." Hoisting her up on one of the tables out of the way, he hopped up next to her. "Any requests, m'lady?"
