how do you think regulus eventually over time changes james??? is his labyrinth search done or is it sort of a "i fall to pieces when i'm with you type beat?
to be crass about it: he makes james less of a gigantic annoying asshole 😭
james potter is interesting because to 1/2 of the population he’s the coolest most desirable dreamboat (his perfect sports! his perfect hair!) but to the other 1/2 he comes across as the most insufferable prick of all time for the exact same reasons <- if you’ve ever been even slightly an outcast you’re in this category. #deathtojfp
(i believe that even my remus had trouble warming up to james at first) (12 year old remus is fresh off the train from berlin w/ his Poverty Rags and Shaved Head staring at him like 😒🚬 while 12 year old james is like Holy fucking hell is that remus lupin kid SMOKING?? he’s SO cool sirius don’t you think that’s so cool. <- remus is quickly incapable of withstanding the James Potter Radiant Megawatt Friendship Grin. he’s only mortal)
crucially: james potter is an obnoxious frat-star athlete who has a beer pong tournament bracket pinned to his fridge. WITH an adorable nerdy lisping boy scout deep down. (and yet another jock even DEEPER down, sort of a sandwich situation)
reg’s existence does the important work of making james realize that 1) it’s actually super messed up & insane to view the world through the lens of Good People and Bad People, and even worse for james to decide that He is the one who gets to make those moral judgments. and 2) old spice body spray smells fucking disgusting seriously potter get it together
but once regulus manages to effectively permanently do away with james potter’s Douchey Surface Layer he unintentionally creates a monster. because after james potter becomes Humble and Self Deprecating and comfortable enough to be a charmingly dorky overenthusiastic nerd about things (the way he was as a child) it’s like….. oh god. he’s even MORE perfect than before. who DOESNT want him. who is even capable of not wanting him under these conditions. look at the way he fumbles clumsily with his glasses!! oh god, he’s geeking out about different brands of hiking shoes!!!!!!!
meanwhile regulus is standing back with his arms crossed smugly. he’s like: That’s Right. I Did That.

snooze fest ~ lando norris x reader
Tumblr media
pairing: lando norris x fem!reader
warnings: slight language, illusions of sex.
Tumblr media
Lando rolled over groggily, a yawn escaped him as he reached for his phone on the bedside table. He cursed silently when he saw the hour, almost 10 am. Suddenly awake he rolled over excitedly only to be hit with empty, cold space. His heart immediately sank.
You were nowhere to be found in the spot where you had fallen asleep the night before. He didn't get it, what had gone wrong?
Sure, it was only your second date. However, he thought the two of you had something different, especially after last night. The thought of you made him instantly giddy. You were gorgeous, smart, and witty...
He was utterly obsessed with you.
But you had left.
Lando managed to drag himself out of bed, he wasn't usually a coffee drinker but today he felt like he needed one. He pulled on a pair of sweats over his boxers and shuffled his way to the kitchen. As the coffee brewed his mind went back to spiraling.
Did you assume that he wanted you gone?
Was that where his reputation had led him?
He had most seriously just fumbled the girl of his dreams.
He opened the fridge and hauled the jug of milk over to the counter, pouring a splash into his mug. Picking up the mug he sighed, over to the living room he walked, with coffee in hand. He sat down on the couc-
"Ow!"
Lando jumped, "OWWIE!"
Hot, sizzling coffee dripped down his chest as he sprang up off the couch, "You scared the shit out of me!"
"You sat on me!" you countered, emerging from the blanket you had been hiding under and rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
"What are you doing here?" he asked still in shock.
"Oh, um- sorry I can leave. I didn't realize how late it was," you mumbled, flushing embarrassed.
Shit. "No, no, no don't leave!" Lando waved his hand frantically, walking to place his mug on the coffee table. "I uh-" his voice trailed off into the kitchen and you followed. "I just meant what are you doing on the couch?"
You looked at him, attempting to wipe the coffee from his clothes, "You snore."
He stared at you blankly, relief flooding through his body that you were still here. Standing right in front of him. He giggled, "Oh, sorry bout' that."
"No worries, I punched you to try and make you roll over-"
"That's why my shoulder hurts-"
"Yeah..."
He stared at you and chuckled sheepishly, "I was actually disappointed when I woke up, I thought you had left. Happy I sat on you..."
You rolled your eyes, walking towards the fridge, "Saying you wanna keep me around Norris?"
"Definitely. Oh, I wouldn't open that-"
You stared into the almost-empty fridge, all that lined the shelves was a carton of milk and pre-prepped meals in plastic containers.
"Huh. I didn't strike you as the type to be on the meal-planning-mom side of TikTok,"
"Shut up," he chuckled, striding over to you.
You sniffed the contents of an already open bottle, "What is this? Crack?"
"Protein shake, I know boring-"
"Snooze fest," you mumbled in agreement.
"Well, no point in just staring at it any longer," He slammed the fridge shut and kissed your temple, "C'mon! Get dressed and we can go get something to eat. Maybe stop at the convenience store..."
"What do you need to get at the convenience store?" you asked as he walked toward his bedroom.
"Earplugs!"

Drunken Kisses : ̗̀➛ Lewis Hamilton
summary: there are all kinds of drunks, but you're definitely the type to pour your heart out, as lewis quickly realises
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lewis’ eyes rolled the moment he heard you groaning through the house, swinging his legs round and standing up from the sofa. Despite your promises not to get yourself drunk on your night out with your colleagues, he knew straight away that you hadn’t kept to that promise.
His smile turned up though when he saw how giggly you were walking through the house, heading straight in Lewis’ direction on your unsteady feet. His arm came around your frame to support you, carefully guiding you to the sofa and safely sitting you down.
“I missed you,” you whispered, resting your body against Lewis’, pressing several kisses against his cheek. “You should’ve come out with us tonight, we had such a great time.”
“I’m glad you enjoyed yourself,” Lewis mused, barely able to get his words out between the feeling of your lips pressing against him.
Lewis didn’t quite know what to do as you scattered several kisses over him, your hands cupping his head to keep him still. The smell of liquor lingered on your breath as you smothered Lewis with as much love as you possibly could.
When you moved for a moment, Lewis spoke up. “Do you think you might want to let me breathe?”
“You’re already breathing,” you sighed, tapping against his arm. “You wouldn’t be talking to me right now if you weren’t breathing silly,” you scoffed, hearing a chuckle come from Lewis.
“Do you think it’s time for bed?” Lewis suggested, but your head immediately shook in reply to him.
You finally moved back from Lewis, but your eyes remained firmly on him, studying him closely. Lewis didn’t quite know how to react until he watched a tear roll down your cheek, reaching out and wiping it away for you before asking you what was wrong.
“Are they happy tears?” He nervously asked, bringing his hands to hold either side of your face instead. “Did something happen whilst you were out that you’re not telling me?”
Your head shook quickly, not wanting Lewis to worry with his eyes still on you. As you continued to remain quiet, Lewis couldn’t help but fret though. Your heart was racing as you toyed with the idea of opening up to Lewis what the reason for your tears was.
“You have to promise that you’re not going to laugh at me.”
Lewis hummed as his hand brushed gently through your hair, tucking you into his side. He held onto you tightly, biting down on his lip to make sure that his laughter was stifled as he waited for you to tell him what was going on.
It was one of the things you hated about when you got drunk, how you suddenly found yourself overcome with emotion. As you arrived home to Lewis, that emotion hit you in a wave, feeling your heart swell with happiness when you were greeted by his figure walking through the front door.
“It scares me sometimes how much I love you,” you whispered, brushing your hand against Lewis’ cheek. “Have I ever told you how much I’m actually in love with you?”
“Love,” Lewis whispered, fighting back his urge to chuckle in surprise as to the reason for your tears. “You don’t need to do this.”
“But I do, because you make me so unbelievably happy Lewis.”
Before Lewis could speak, you leaned forwards and trailed several sloppy kisses along Lewis’ jaw, feeling the stubble on his face tickle against your slightly chapped lips.
Your conversation went on for quite some time as Lewis sat back and let you get everything off of your chest. Although he always knew how you felt about him, he hadn’t heard you be quite so honest before. But that was what they always said about drunk people, the truth finds a way to spill.
You had no recollection of heading to bed that night, confident however that Lewis would’ve taken good care of you and made sure that you got to bed in one piece.
When you woke up the following morning, you found yourself with Lewis’ frame wrapped around you to keep you warm. He was already awake behind you, smiling away as he heard you groan and quickly shut your eyes again.
“I’ve got so many regrets about last night.”
“Good morning to you too,” Lewis teased, leaning forwards to press a kiss against your cheek. “I would ask how you’re feeling, but after the state you were in last night, I bet that I could have a pretty good guess about how you are.”
Your eyes slowly peeled open again, this time a lot more prepared for the light in your bedroom, shuffling slightly in Lewis’ grip. “I don’t even want to know about anything that happened last night, just keep me safe from how embarrassing I was.”
“You weren’t embarrassing, just a little lovesick.”
“Oh no,” you whispered, hearing Lewis giggle jokingly, full of satisfaction knowing that he remembered exactly what you had to say to him last night.
Lewis let you have your huff for a second before twirling you around in his hold so that you were facing him, clearing his throat to allow himself to fill you in.
“At least I certainly know that you’re happy in this relationship, you made that quite clear.”
“I don’t think I want to know.”
“It was cute,” Lewis tried his best to assure you, “you certainly wanted to make sure that I was listening as well.”
“Shut up,” you murmured, “can we just pretend that it didn’t happen?”
“It’s nothing to be ashamed about,” Lewis whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “I actually quite liked it, aside from the part when you didn’t let me move for your urge to kiss me repeatedly again and again.”
Your head tilted back in disbelief, “I swear I don’t recognise the person that I become when I’m drunk, did I really do that to you? What must I have been thinking?”
“Clearly you must’ve been thinking about just how much you love your amazing boyfriend.”
“You’re enjoying this far too much for my liking,” you scolded.
Lewis couldn’t help himself; it wasn’t that day to day you didn’t tell him how much you loved him, but when you were drunk that little extra came out that Lewis adored.
As you fell silent, Lewis captured your attention again. “You know, for all you said last night, I want you to know that everything you said I feel the exact same way about you too.”
“You don’t have to say that to make me feel better,” you assured him.
“I’m not saying it for that, I’m saying it because I mean it.”
“Thank you,” you chuckled, “and sorry that I was such a mess last night, I don’t even know what happened to me.”
“Don’t worry love, I could get used to receiving all those kisses anyway.”

Mafia bf!Yunho x female reader
Here are some mafia!Yunho x reader headcannons/oneshot (idrk what to call it)
includes: Yunho x reader, violence, kidnapping, mafia au, fluff
- He never intended to become a frequent customer at your small coffee shop near ateez’ underground base
- It started as a place for him to go when he needed to escape the gruesome life of the mafia, when he just wanted some peace and quiet
-He soon found himself becoming a regular, and without trying to, starting to feel at home in your small cozy cafe
- He still remembers the first time he saw you, looking so cute in your little apron, focusing on making a specific espresso art for a customer.
- You always found yourself lighting up when Yunho entered the cafe, his presence alone bringing you comfort in an odd way
- He seemed so nice and respectful, never asking too many questions or making any noise in your shop.
- He just sat down at his usual spot, with a book in hand, sipping on a coffee you made perfectly for him
- The other members teased him about his little crush on you, noticing the way the tall male had grown fond of you
- He never let any of the members accompany him though, telling them that this was his spot, and that he wanted to separate it from the mafia life
- He almost felt ashamed of his crush on you, thinking that you deserve someone better, someone who’s not a criminal mastermind
- Regardless of his will to keep you at a distance for your own good, his need to get to know you was stronger
- He tried to promise himself not to get attached…
- You eventually started sitting next to him at times, chatting about your lives and hobbies.
- You were quick to notice his secrecy, and the way he never went into detail about his life.
- It made you a little sad, but you decided not to ask, not wanting to invade his privacy
- Yunho convinced you that you were working too hard, seeing your dark circles grow as of every day.
- When you tried to tell him the same thing, noticing the way his skin looked paler than usual, he just shrugged you off
- Somehow, word had gotten out that Yunho had a special girl, and when ateez got into a twist with another gang, the opposing gang knew exactly who their target would be…
- One night, when you were just about to get home from work, the glass door was suddenly smashed open, and a group of masked men entered the small cafe.
- You crouched down, trying to hide behind the counter, putting a hand over your mouth as the men’s voices started filling the room
- You felt your legs starting to tremble as your heart beat rapidly in your chest
- A man appeared behind the counter, harshly grabbing you. Your hand was replaced by his, as a gun was pressed to your head
- Your wide eyes scanned the room for any means of escape, but only saw three other men, equally as scary as the man holding a gun to your head
- You couldn’t understand any of this, but soon another man came up to you, eyes staring you down.
- He yelled at you to not move a muscle, and you couldn’t help but obey when a sharp needle was inserted into your arm
- You wanted to squirm. You wanted to scream, but you just couldn’t.
- You felt your eyes start to roll back, as your body grew limp in a matter of seconds.
- And then, everything went black.
.。*゚+.*.。
- When Yunho heard your name leave Wooyoung’s mouth, his body immediately became stiff
- “Where. Is. She?” Yunho asked, hand finding the gun in his waistband.
- Yunho was sure he had never felt this type of fear before
- When Wooyoung told him he didn’t know where you were, Yunho grabbed him by the collar, almost lifting his smaller body into the air
- “THEN FIND OUT!” Yunho yelled.
- Wooyoung’s eyebrows furrowed at his partner’s sudden frustration. He had never seen Yunho this angry.
- He knew that you were dear to Yunho, but not like this.
.。*゚+.*.。
- You slowly felt your surroundings becoming clear to you as you woke up
- You felt your arms aching, the harsh rope binding them leaving a burn in your skin
- Your eyes fluttered open, revealing the scene in front of you
- You were in a dark room, the only thing giving you a whim of the figures in front of you a small lightbulb hanging from the ceiling
- You felt your breath pick up, making the heads of the men snap towards you in an instant
- You tried to move, your instincts screaming at you to flee the situation
- “Well look who’s finally awake,” one of the men snickered, placing his cards down on the small table he sat by with his three companions.
- You felt your memories come flooding back to you from the night before, reminding you of the traumatic experience you had gone through
- You tried to speak, but a cloth in your mouth stopped you from doing so, only letting muffled sounds escape you
- The men laughed evilly, making you tear up
- Why was this happening to you?
- “What do you say boys, do we keep her alive?” one of them asked, a smirk coating his lips.
- “What would make Jeong more angry? if we kill her? or—“ another man stepped closer to your form, grabbing a fist of your hair. “If we keep her as a toy?”
- You felt tears streaming from your eyes as you squirmed desperately. You didn’t understand any of this, but you could collect that these men were purely evil.
- Just as one of them were about to leave another snarky comment, a small knock was heard from upstairs.
- Their heads perked up at the sound.
- “I’ll go get it,” one of them said, picking up a gun before leaving the basement.
- Your gaze followed him as his big body made its way up to the main floor.
- The other three men averted their attention back to you, and you braced yourself for the humiliation you were about to endure.
- “Keep her alive, she’s young and all,” a man said. You felt sick.
- As they were about to continue their discussion about whether or not you should live, a loud bang was heard from upstairs.
- Everyone tensed up in the room, including you.
- You heard multiple gunshots, and many more male voices filling the room.
- The three men in the basement stood up and grabbed their weapons. You heard the sound of guns being loaded, and couldn’t even keep your eyes opened.
- You were too scared.
- Two of the men ascended the stairs, leaving you with the man who was still holding your hair in his hand.
- “Make a sound and you’re dead,” the man warned you, pushing his gun towards your head once again.
- You breathing quickened more and more as the sounds from upstairs escalated. More gunshots and screams were heard, and they only seemed to get closer.
- The man’s grip on your hair only became tighter when the sound came closer to you. You tried to stifle your small whimpers, but they went unnoticed as they exited you anyway.
- An eerie silence filled the place, making you have to choke down your sounds of fear. Was this really the day your life was going to end? Just when things had started to go your way, everything was going to be ripped from you like this?
- You barely noticed as two men came down the stairs at an unbelievable speed. You clenched your eyes shut, not even wanting to know what was going to happen, but then, the hand in your hair suddenly vanished, same with the gun pressed against your forehead.
- The sound of a gunshot made you flinch, your head lowering in submission, as a way for you to beg for your life.
- “She’s here!” a voice called out, as a man stepped closer to you. From the sound of his voice you would guess he was younger than your kidnappers.
- A hand found your head, making you retreat in fear. You still didn’t dare to look at the man in front of you, but was surprised when the hand gently took out the cloth from your mouth, making you gasp at the sudden access to air.
- Your eyes flew open, taking in the man in front of you. He had pretty long, black hair that illuminated his face well, even in the dim lighting. The man behind him stood with his hands behind his back, as if waiting for an order.
- You heard the sound of footsteps rushing down the stairs, and when you saw the man’s identity, your jaw dropped in disbelief.
- You barely noticed as the dark haired man untied your arms, too focused on the sight of the tall man in front of you.
- Yunho.
- Here he was, a panicked but somewhat relieved look on his handsome face. You let out a breath, not finding any words to say.
- Yunho sighed, a single tear dropping from his cheek.
- “Y/n,” he breathed out before rushing towards you.
- You still felt your eyes staring into nothing as his arms flew around you, his welcoming embrace making you tear up.
- You didn’t care about your questions, all that mattered was that he was here now, and you could finally cry into his warm shoulder.
- “Thank god you’re okay,” he cried. You started sobbing, letting the fear you had had to suppress wash over you.
- “I— I was so scared,” you cried, not caring about the seven men gathered around the two of you. It was like a part of you knew. Knew that you were safe with them.
.。*゚+.*.。
- “I never wanted you to get involved in any of this…” Yunho confessed, a hand on his forehead.
- “Well, now I am, okay?” you smiled, giving him a small peck on the cheek
- Ever since that incident, Yunho had hesitantly told you about what he actually does. He was convinced you’d run away from him in fear, but you only nodded slowly as you took in the information.
- Now, here you were, in a relationship with a member of ateez, one of the strongest mafias in town.
- You still thanked Yunho every day for saving you, but he tried to assure you that it was his fault you even ended up in that situation.
- “No, it wasn’t!” you argued, pouting almost. “It’s not your fault that they decided to go after me!” you tried.
- Yunho sighed. “That’s what we do. We don’t play nice,” he tried to explain, but you only shook your head.
- “Whatever, I love you anyway,” you said, plastering a kiss on his lips. Making him smile in a way that made your heart melt.
- “I love you too, baby.”
- The gang had started becoming more of a family to you.
- They all knew you were one of them now, since you were with Yunho.
- You had to admit that the mafia life scared you still, but you were still so lucky to find ateez.
- You had made friends for life, and they were so thankful to have you with them.
- You were like a little happy pill, always making them cheer up when they could only focus on work.
- You loved cooking with Wooyoung, playing games with Yeosang or watching movies with Hongjoong.
- It truly felt like you had found your place, even if it was in a secret underground base with eight mafia members.
Heyyyyyy guys hope you enjoyed this little drabble/oneshot or whatever I should call it. Requests are opennnn!

Faking It | Jeon Jungkook | Chapter Two
Tumblr media
Summary: Seeing him again happened sooner than you thought it would but absolutely no one is complaining. Pairing: f!reader (30) x Single Dad Jungkook (33) (Arranged Marriage Slow Burn?) Word Count: 9.8k Warnings: Talking about Jungkook's wife who passed away in childbirth (Doesn't talk about her death but yeah) a/n: Took me three months but we're finally here 😭 And if any of you saw me post this and delete it...no you didn't. I posted it on my reblogs account on accident so sorry if that teased you a bit 😅 Anyways I hope this was worth the wait 😭 p.s. I only read through this once when I completed it so have mercy on me if there are typos
I wake up naturally this morning and it's honestly one of the best feelings in my opinion. Not having to worry about being woken up out of a sound sleep shows me that it's going to be a good day.
As I yawn and rub the sleep out of my eyes I hear my phone vibrate on my nightstand, telling me I have a new message. I roll over and reach for it lazily to check and when I read the sender's name I immediately shoot up, causing Salem to dart off the bed. "Sorry Salem" I call after him but then when I go back to read the message my heart is already beating out of my chest.
'Good morning y/n I hope you slept well. How are you?' a simple yet inviting message from the man I just met last night. Who knew waking up to good morning texts would still feel this good at the ripe age of thirty?
'Good morning Jungkook! I slept like a baby, best sleep I've gotten in a while actually. I just woke up so, so far so good. How are you? How's Juni? Did you guys sleep alright?' I send and at a second glance I can see how completely whipped I am for this man already. Why am I rambling on and on about sleep? I could've just said 'I slept well, I hope you did as well' or something like that.
'That's good, I'm glad to hear! Juni and I slept alright. She actually only woke up an hour ago which is unheard of since she's usually knocking on my door at six am. She's been talking about you since she woke up' he sends back and my heart flutters, loving that I've made that big of an impression on her already.
I check the time and see that it's already nine am which is a record time for me to sleep as well since I'm usually up by seven most days. Then again it's not everyday that you get to spend the night with a man like him...
Wait! That's not what I meant!
'She can't stop talking about going shopping for butterflies so I wanted to see if we could set up a time soon. Maybe this weekend if you're free?' he suggests and I have to restrain myself from kicking my feet, just thinking about this man asking to see me again, disguised by his daughter wanting to get butterfly decorations for her room.
'This weekend sounds perfect! I'm free tomorrow as well so either day is fine' I offer up and face palm, scolding myself for being too eager. 'Tomorrow sounds great! Should we meet around eleven? Juni and I would love to take you out to lunch if you'd like. You know, to thank you for the help' he sends and I can't help but think that maybe he's a little nervous too.
'Eleven it is! Should I meet you guys there? There's a shop that I'm sure Juni will love and it'll definitely have what we're looking for!' I send and I can see the bubbles popping up to show that he's typing but they go up and down a couple more times. He'll type for a little and then stop and type again and I can only hope that I didn't say something wrong in suggesting where to go.
When a few minutes go by I decide it's best to get out of bed and get a cup of coffee. That'll wake up my brain a little more and help me hopefully not make as much of a fool of myself while texting him.
I find Salem perched on top of his cat tree, still a little jumpy from me having scared him but I think it's made him playful more than anything as I watch his tail flick back and forth while he watches me walk up to him.
"I'm sorry for scaring you" I apologize again, scratching his between his ears but when I feel my phone vibrating over and over in my hand I jump again making him climb down off his cat tree and scurry under the couch. I sigh and scold myself as a result before taking a look at my phone, seeing an incoming call from Jungkook.
I almost drop it after reading his name but catch and answer before I end up dropping it.
"Hello?" I ask, slightly out of breath from the scare but try to hide it as best as I can. "Hi pretty lady!" I hear Juni call out in the distance, the phone no doubt on speaker phone. "Good morning Juni! How are you little one?" I ask, feeling more at ease talking to her first and my question awards me with a little giggle before she continues.
"I'm good! Daddy says we're going to a special store to pick out the butterflies for my room! Is that right?" she asks, clear excitement laced all throughout her tone. "Yes that's right Juni we are! Does that sound alright to you?" I ask and I can clearly hear how she's jumping from excitement from how punctuated her voice sounds now as she chants "Yes" over and over again.
"I wish we could go right now!" she says, her excitement too difficult to contain at the moment which makes me smile knowing that she wants to go right away.
"Patience Juni, tomorrow isn't too far away" I hear Jungkook's voice coming through now and it makes my breath hitch, forgetting the fact that he had been there all along. He wasn't kidding when he said that Juni grabs everyone's attention right away. Given the chance I'm sure she would've talked to me for hours if her dad hadn't reminded her.
"That's right Juni, only one more sleep until tomorrow" I say and I can hear a little gasp from the other side. "Does that mean I can go to sleep right now and then we can go?" she asks, not understanding the concept entirely.
"Not unless you want to sleep for twenty four hours silly" he says and I hear a fit of giggles that could only mean that he might've tickled her but after a few seconds it's calmed down.
"How long is twenty four hours?" she asks, a constant roulette of questions gearing up if he doesn't answer this question correctly.
"You know how you woke up yesterday, went to school, came home, played with your toys, got ready, went to meet Ms. y/n, came back home, went to bed and woke up this morning?" he lists off and I can tell she's probably nodded her head all throughout his explanation.
"Yes?" she responds in a questioning tone, waiting for him to get to the point. "Well that's how long twenty four hours is" he responds and I hear jumping again once he's finished before an excited Juni calls out. "Does that mean we get to go see Ms. y/n again when I get home from school?" she asks and my heart melts at her excitement.
"Juni, we're seeing her tomorrow remember. I'm sure Ms. y/n is very busy tonight" he says and I hear a sad "Oh" from her and I contemplate my next words carefully before going for it. "Juni, would it be okay if I talked to your Daddy for a second?" I ask and I can hear her let out a disheartened 'Okay' before Jungkook takes the phone off speaker.
"Hey y/n, sorry she's a little hyper this morning" he says and I smile at his efforts to apologize for Juni's adorable disposition. "No that's okay, I love talking to her! She's a cutie" I say and he hums, "Try living with her" he counters and I smile, knowing that her excitable attitude might get a little tiring sometimes.
"I wanted to ask you if you would like to do something today after Juni gets home from school? Maybe meet you at the park? I forgot to give you Juni's dress last night after I washed it. I have to go back to my parent's house to pick it up anyway and theres a park around the corner. It's your call though. I don't want to go against what you told her" I say, rambling off nervously again but this time over the phone instead of texting and I regret ever offering it in the first place.
Why am I so freaking awkward?
"You sure you don't mind? I could always just get it from you tomorrow? I don't want to inconvenience you or anything" he says, giving me a chance to back out but not saying no to me, giving me a vote of confidence. "I wouldn't have offered if I minded" I say with a smile in my tone and he takes another second to think before giving me his response.
"She gets off at three, does that work for you or should we meet up later?" he asks and my heart skips a beat, knowing that I'll get to see him again so soon. "That sounds great, you can meet me at my parent's house if you'd like? The park isn't too far away so we can leave our cars and walk there" I offer and he takes a couple of seconds to think again before saying anything else.
"Juni, do you wanna go see Ms. y/n after school?" he asks and I can hear her little feet running around this time and repeating her response of ceaseless Yes's again. "Well I guess we'll see you later then. I can bring some food for us to take to the park if you'd like?" he offers and I shake my head before remembering that thankfully he can't see me in my sleepy state.
"No that's okay I got it covered. You already said you guys are taking me to lunch tomorrow so the least I could do is bring us food to share at the park today. Plus, I'm the one who suggested it in the first place" I explain and he chuckles before agreeing.
"Alright, thank you y/n. Should we show up around four then?" he asks, giving them time to make their way over after picking her up from school. "Four sounds perfect, I'll see you then!" I say and he calls Juni over to say goodbye. "Bye Pretty Lady! See you after school!" she giggles.
I swear I'm never going to tire of her excitable disposition.
"Goodbye Juni! Have a good day and listen to your teachers okay?" and I can hear a faint 'I will' in the background, no doubt from her running off to do something. "Thanks again y/n, I know she's going to be so excited to see you today...we both are" he adds at the end and my heart skips at his confession. "Me too" I say quietly and we finish up our goodbye's before quickly hanging up.
I slowly walk over to the couch as to not scare Salem this time, grab the pillow next to me, put it over my face and scream into it. Although I tried to muffle it I still end up scaring him making him run off to my room, no doubt planning to be wary of me for the rest of the day but that's okay.
I get to see them again, I get to see him again.
I really hope I'm not wrong about thinking that there might actually be something between us already, something about this just feels right. I don't want to rush into this too quickly though since we don't really know much about each other. I want to take things slow and hopefully he does too.
Well...I hope he'll want to take things further but you never know, a man like him is sure to have a lot of options, right? I just don't want to set myself up for heartbreak. Gotta keep it together and not get too vulnerable with him, even if it feels like I should.
I've already let him in a little, and he's definetly let me in a lot with letting me spend so much time with his daughter but I don't know, I guess only time will tell what's going to happen between us.
If there's going to be an 'us'.
~~~~~
The day drags on as I unconsciously count down the hours until I get to see them again but it seems as though time is standing still.
I've spent most of my day editing the pictures I took for a family friend's wedding since that's usually how I get my clients these days. I know someone who knows someone who needs a photographer and my rates are pretty fairly priced so they tend to hire me.
Going through picture after picture and seeing how happy they look together makes me wonder what it would be like to be truly happy with someone like this. Be so openly and obviously in love that no one can say otherwise.
As time ticks by though my mind wanders off until I realize I only have about an hour to get ready before I have to meet them.
"Shit!" I say aloud and get up to hopefully make myself look presentable enough, luckily I took a shower this morning so we're all set on that front. I still need to figure out something for us to eat while at the park though and if I had paid attention to the time it would've been a brilliant idea.
The only option I have left is to phone a friend.
"Y/n? Is something wrong?" my mom asks, the call on speakerphone while I try to fix my hair. "Well depends on if you can help me or not" I say and I hear her sigh. "Please tell me you didn't end up in jail" she says and I scoff at her obviously sarcastic remarks.
"Very funny mom, but for your information no I did not end up in jail. This is seriously something I need help with though. Are you busy right now?" I ask, hoping and praying her answer is no. "No I'm pretty much free for the rest of the day, why?" she responds and I let out a huge sigh before responding.
"Good! Can you do me a favor and throw together a picnic lunch for three? Well...two and a half" I ask, not wanting to give up who it's for but by her gasp I can tell she already knows. "Are you and Jungkook seeing each other again already?" she asks, and I can tell her eyes are as wide as saucers with her hand over her mouth, her reactions being the same since I was a child.
"Yes" I say, giving a one worded response leaving me turning down the volume on my phone when I hear her squealing. "This is incredible! See I knew you two would hit it off! I can hear the church bells ringing already" she says, jumping to conclusions as she always does.
"Mom can you please get the food ready for me?" I plead, going back to the topic at hand while putting some makeup on, nothing too crazy but not wanting to over or under compensate. "Yes yes of course. Leave it to me!" and before I can say another word she's hanging up the phone. "Well that was easy" I say to myself before going to my closet to pick out what to wear.
As I'm flipping through my options I see Salem come out of the darkness, scaring me half to death leaving me scoffing seconds later, realizing he's given me a taste of my own medicine "Okay I guess I deserved that one huh?" I say to him and he meows in response.
"Okay Salem this one, or this one" I say, placing my options in front of him and he sniffs both before swatting at the one he's chosen. "You don't think a sun dress is too much?" I ask and he meows almost as if he was telling me to trust him and so I laugh and give in.
"I hope Juni likes it" I mumble to myself, quickly throwing it on and rushing to finish getting ready. A few minutes later I'm giving Salem a couple tummy rubs like I always do and rushing out the door, praying that I'll get there on time.
The drive to my parent's house seems like it's taking ten times longer than usual and I'm constantly glancing at the clock, making sure that I won't be late but thankfully I get there with plenty of time to spare.
"Hurry up they'll be here any minute!" my mom says, practically having babysat the door to make sure I arrive first. "Nice to see you too" I mumble, never getting a proper hello from her anymore. "The basket is on the table and I put a blanket in there as well" she says rushing me over to where she's put it and it's at that moment she finally notices my appearance.
"You really like him don't you?" she ask, smugness laced in her tone as her efforts of matchmaking are slowly succeeding. "No! Yes...I don't know" I deny but I backtrack immediately since I really do like him. "I haven't been interested in anyone in years and so I don't want to try too hard but I don't know" I somewhat admit to myself, as well my mom that I'm really starting to warm up to the idea of being with someone again.
"It's okay love, he hasn't been with anyone in a really long time either" she says and I furrow my brow, "How do you know that?".
"Well Mrs. Jeon and I were talking about it last night and it seems like ever since his wife died he's been really closed off to love or the idea of dating again. He's tried a few times but they never went beyond a second or third date" she relays and I nod my head, distracting myself with looking through all of the things she had placed in the basket.
I try not to let any expression spread across my face since I don't know how to feel. I don't want to say I'm happy that things didn't work out between him and another woman but it's also sad to think about how Jungkook might've felt when his wife passed in such a traumatic way.
"Thank you for telling me but I think I should start learning more about him when he feels comfortable talking to me about it. It's only fair right? I'm sure he hasn't asked too much about me and my past so I guess shouldn't either" I say and walk into the kitchen to get a glass of water.
"But he has" she says when my mouth is full making me spit it into the sink that was thankfully right in front of me. "He what?" I cough, trying to compose myself as I learn this tidbit of information. "He has asked about you. In fact I was on the phone with her right before you got here" I grab a paper towel to dab off whatever water I have left on me but before I'm able to respond we hear the doorbell ringing.
"I'll get it" she say knowingly, giving me another second to calm down before I have to face him. I take a few deep breaths, fix my hair and check my reflection as best as I can in the smudged steel finish on the fridge while listening to my mother greet them at the door.
While Jungkook and my mother exchange a few words I peek around the corner and notice Juni slightly tugging on my mom's pant leg. "Excuse me but where's the pretty lady?" she asks and I have to hold back the coos I want to let out so badly, my heart already a puddle at the sight of her pleading eyes wanting to see me.
"Why don't you go look for her?" she says and when Jungkook looks up his eyes meet mine immediately for just a second but long enough to know my cover is blown. I duck back into the kitchen to hide, convincing myself that he didn't see me when he clearly did.
"Go on" he says softly when Juni no doubt looks up at him for approval and my mother follows behind her as Juni walks in the completely opposite direction from where I am, my mom trailing behind her, giving no hints and letting her explore on her own.
I assume that Jungkook follows them but when I hear what sound like his footsteps get closer and not further away I tiptoe my way into the pantry, completely mortified that I know now for a fact that he caught me staring at them.
I close the door almost all the way and ten seconds later I watch as his form passes by the little crack in the doorway and I hold my breath as if that might help but there's only one way in and one way out of this kitchen and both him and I know that.
Why did I even hide? What was I thinking? Way to start things off on the right foot.
While I'm busy scolding myself I forget to pay attention and stumble back when he opens the door. "Got ya" he chuckles and I clear my throat, "Yeah I uh, I guess you did" I say, trying to lean back against one of the shelves, stumbling over a box instead but quickly recovering.
"Why are you hiding?" he chuckles, leaning up against the door frame and crossing his arms making me look down and notice how one of them is completely covered in tattoos. I had never specifically been attracted to tattoos before but on him...
I lose track of what he had said and only realize I had left a lull in the conversation when he clears his throat. "Oh I-" I start off but when I hear my mother and Juni's voices in the other room I grab his shirt and pull him in, making him stumble inside, closing the door right away.
It's only when he hits the switch to turn the light on that I realize what I had done.
"I-" I try to apologize but when I look up at him I notice that there's something in the way he's looking at me that I have never seen before, making my words die in my throat. We stand there for what feels like hours but had only been mere moments just observing each other, watching those small changes of expressions and I start to feel dizzy under his gaze.
The tension between us clear and building but it's only when he opens his mouth to say something that the door is thrown open and we're met with a squeal from Juni. She runs into the closet and grabs onto Jungkook's leg making him stumble forward and as a result pins me against the shelf, his hands resting on either side of me.
It's like the universe is playing some sort of sick and twisted joke on us, constantly putting us in situations like these and yet we had only just become reacquainted with each other last night.
"I found you!" Juni squeals again, giggles as her cries of victory and she soon pulls on Jungkook's leg to try and separate us.
"Daddy I wanna play with the pretty lady" Juni pouts and in her efforts of trying to pull him off of me he actually loses his footing and stumbles, our bodies fully flush against each other now, his face just inches away from mine.
I blink up at him and he does the same to me, both of us frozen and not really knowing what to do. It's only when my mother chimes in and asks Juni to come with her to get a snack that that little bubble that had formed around us had been popped.
"I...sorry... I uh, tripped...you know...with Juni and everything" he says, fumbling his words like a school boy, taking a few steps back to be at a respectful distance again. "Yeah no it's fine. I um, I shouldn't have pulled you in here in the first place" I admit and he smirks, remembering the point that lead us up to the little predicament we're in.
"Why did you pull me in here?" he smiles, glancing over at where my mom has Juni plopped down on the kitchen counter with a popsicle in her hand. "I take hide and seek very seriously" I explain, me being the one crossing my arms now and he chuckles at my lame excuse for my actions but accepts it anyways.
"Right" he says and offers me a hand to lead me out which I reluctantly accept.
"Mom she'll spoil her dinner" I say, scolding her with Juni just lost in the flavor and sheer size of it. To be fair it looks adorable in her little hands. "It's alright, a little sugar won't hurt her. Plus we're still going to the park right?" he asks and I look at him and nod. "Right" I agree and lift Juni off the counter to set her on her feet.
"Hi Miss y/n" she says with a bright smile with her lips and tongue stained a bright shade of red from the cherry flavor. "Hi Juni" I say and fix her little sun dress that she's wearing, it's almost as if we had planned to match and when she notices me straightening out her dress she look at mine and also notices the similarity right away.
"Look Daddy! Miss y/n and I are matching!" she says with the toothiest grin I've ever seen, her front two teeth standing out just a little bit more making it another cute little trait she shares with her father. Although who knows if she'll keep that once she starts losing her teeth I think to myself and quickly fix her hair as well since it's gotten a bit ruffled in the excitement of it all.
"That's right baby, you both look so beautiful" he says making my heart skip a beat. When I look over at him he's giving me a similar adoring look he gave Juni just moments ago making it even harder for me to not melt into a puddle.
I'm beginning to notice that these two really know how to tug on a person's heartstrings, it's almost as if it were as easy as breathing and that's something that's gonna take a while to get used to.
"Can we go to the park now, please?" Juni asks, her eyes going back and forth between the two of us and when I look over at Jungkook he nods. "Sure, are you ready?" I ask, turning back to Juni and she jumps up and down and chants 'Yes' over and over again like she had done this morning on the phone.
"Alright let's go" I say and with one hand clutching her popsicle for dear life she uses the other one to grab mine and drag me towards the front door.
"Juni be careful" Jungkook scolds but I turn back towards him and assure him not to worry and I can see how he relaxes at that. She's a little bouncing ball of sunshine, emphasis on the bouncing since she can hardly sit still most of the time unless she's eating, and even then she's dancing around and smiling happily. I swear if this girl gets any sweeter I'm gonna start getting a toothache.
I let go of Juni's hand while my mother entertains her so we can make sure we have everything before we head out and when I try to turn around to grab my cardigan Jungkooks already grabbing it and holding it out to help me put it on. "Oh! I can-" "I know" he cuts me off but doesn't make any moves to give it to me so I turn my back to him and let him do as he pleases, sliding it up my arms and over my shoulders.
He runs his hands down my arms, no doubt as an excuse to smooth it all out but it causes a slight shiver to run through my system and he let's go, surprised at the reaction.
"You sure you're gonna be warm enough?" he asks, a hint of amusement laced in his tone making my cheeks heat up but I nod my head and quickly rush over to the table where the basket is so I don't have to face him but he takes it from me as soon as my fingers brush the handle, making our hands touch.
"I can carry that" I counter and he shakes his head, "No I'll carry it, someone's gotta hold Juni's hand while we walk there" he says, clearly delegating our respective duties and I smile and nod again. "Deal" and at that we're out the door.
~~~~
"Higher Daddy higher!" Juni squeals while Jungkook pushes her on the swing, his arms no doubt getting a little tired since she's been on it for the past ten minutes now and I can see he's losing momentum with every push.
"Daddy's tired Juni. Can you swing on your own now? You know, just like I taught you" he suggests and she thinks about it for a second before saying a quick 'Okay' and clumsily moving her legs back and forth to keep the momentum going.
I smile as I watch Jungkook stumble over towards where I've been sitting on the blanket and watching them, adoring their father daughter relationship. "You're so good with her" I praise when he sits down and hand him a cold water bottle which he accepts right away and downs half of it.
"You think so?" he asks, always unsure of himself but I couldn't think of a more perfect father than him. "I know so. She's lucky to have a loving devoted father like you" I say and he smiles softly, grabing one of the strawberries that my mother had packed for us.
"You flatter me" he says, a slight blush blooming on his cheeks making me feel almost smitten with him. "It's the truth" I reenforcing what I've said and he shakes his head, finishing off the fruit in his mouth.
"Sometimes I feel like I'm not enough, you know? Like there's only so much I could give her" he says and I can tell from how his body language has changed that he's really thinking about how he wishes her mother could be here for her too.
"What was her name?" I ask and he looks at me curiously, not knowing that I'm on the same page as him yet. "Your wife, what was her name?" I say tentatively but when he registers it I quickly backtrack. "I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me that. I just figured that you might've been well..." I trail off and we sit there in silence watching Juni swing back and forth, back and forth until he decides to speak up.
"Julie" he says softly, as if it had been years since he had spoken it. "Her name was Julie" he says softly and when I look over at him I can see the melancholy expression he's trying to hide. "That's a beautiful name, did you want Juni's name to sound similar to her's?" I ask, not wanting to make this conversation go dark but knowing that talking about her might cheer him up.
"Well, kinda. We wanted something that combined both of our names. It's silly, I know" he mumbles getting bashful about it. "It's not silly, it's wonderful to see in a way that both you and Juni are still carrying her with you everyday. It's a beautiful way to pay tribute to her" I reassure him and he smiles at me, mouthing a silent thank you.
"I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't have pried" I apologize again, seeing that it still has him feeling down. "No it's okay, it's nice to talk about her every once in a while. Thank you, for that" him now reassuring me and I nod, both of us left in silence for a while before Juni runs up to us.
"Daddy what's wrong?" she asks, seeing the clearly deflated Jungkook as she gets closer and it's good to see that instead of brushing it off like it's nothing he doesn't hesitate to tell her how he's feeling. "I'm just a little sad, Ms. y/n and I were just talking about Mommy" he explains and she gets almost a look of understanding which is surprising for someone of her age.
"Please don't be sad Daddy, remember you said Mommy is always watching over us right?" she say, giving him the talk that he's clearly had with her a time or two. "Right" he say, brightening up just a bit. "And she wouldn't want to see us sad when we think about her right?" she continues, an slightly stern tone creeping up which makes both Jungkook and I smile. "Right" he echos again and she nods her head in agreement.
"You always tell me to look in the mirror and touch my nose, and my ears and my lips and everything else that you say reminds you of her and you tell me that she'll always be right here with me. So that means when I'm here with you she's here too right?" she asks again and he chuckles.
"When did you get so smart?" he says, grabbing her and starts tickling her, making her squirm all over the place and when he finally has mercy on her and she catches her breath she answers, "Well I am turning five soon" she says matter-o-factly and I can't help but chuckle at that. "Oh right, how could I forget" he over exaggerates  and she giggles, grabbing his shoulder before leaning in to whisper something.
"Daddy can we show the pretty lady a picture of Mommy?" she says almost at full volume leaving him flinching back. It's adorable how she still hasn't figured out this whole whispering thing. "Sure baby" he obliges and pulls out his phone, picking out one and handing it to her so she can show it to me.
She surprises me by plopping down in my lap and putting the phone way too close to my face. "This is my Mommy, her name is Julie" she says proudly and my heart can't help but ache thinking this is the only way she's known her mother. "She's beautiful Juni" I say, putting my hand on top of her hand that's holding the phone and pulling it back so I can see the picture properly.
"You really do have your mom's nose" I chuckle when I notice the same curved button nose they share leaving me booping her's and making her smile. She scrolls through a couple more photos giving me little bits of commentary that no doubt Jungkook has told her as she grew up and it's when I hear the soft click of a camera that I look back up at him.
"Sorry, it was too perfect not to" he says, seemly enjoying watching the two of us and I can't help the way my heart skips a beat making me shy all over again. "Can we take some more pictures?" Juni asks, wrapping her little arms around my neck and squishing my face against her's leaving me laughing at how adorable this all is.
Jungkook obliges and we take picture after picture after picture together until Juni is satisfied and has run off to play again.
"I didn't even know that you brought that" I say, watching as he fiddles around with the camera, flipping through the photos he just took. "It was on the table right behind the basket" he explains and now that I think about it I do remember seeing the corner of a camera bag sitting next to it.
He smiles as he looks at the pictures and I lean over to catch a glance at them but he pulls it back out of my reach. "Hey!" I chuckle and she shakes his head. "Not until they're edited" he refuses and I scoff.
"You're not actually going to edit them are you?" I say, nervous at the thought of him spending hours looking at those pictures. "Why wouldn't I?" he asks as if I had said something confusing. "Well I mean, aren't you busy with work? I doubt you would want to take extra time out of your day to play around with them" I explain and he smiles.
"Let me take a few more and then I'll let you see them" he says, angling his body so he's facing me. "Did you want me to call Juni back?" I ask but when I try he stops me with another click and I look back at him confused. "I meant of just you" he says simply but I can tell he feels a bit bashful from the way he's started to hide behind the camera.
"I'm not used to being the one in front of the camera" I say, trying to figure out exactly how to pose but he chuckles and puts the camera down a little to take a good look at me. "I don't see why not, you're beautiful" he says casually as if those words hadn't sent my heart into overdrive. "I-" I start but the words just don't come out, especially when he places the camera down and leans in closer.
He takes my hand and places it on the blanket so I can lean on it, places the other in my lap, angles my shoulders slightly away from him and takes my chin and softly tilts my head up, making the sunlight peer down on my face through the leaves of the tree we're under.
"Just relax" he says, acting as if I could possibly relax after he had his hands all over me, posing me just how he wanted.
I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths to clear my head and once I start to get that sense of serenity I hear a few soft clicks from his camera, taking picture after picture, him adjusting my pose by hand every time.
"Daddy!" is the next thing we hear after who knows how long with the sight of Juni running over to us all covered in mud. "Is this your daughter?" a woman who is clearly out of breath says while trailing after Juni.
"Juni what happened?" I chuckle, seeing that she's as happy as can be with a few smudges of dirt on her face and her dress all muddy. "Her and my son were playing over there and I guess he convinced her to jump in the mud and well..." she says, motioning towards Juni where I'm trying to clean her off as best as I can.
"I hope she didn't cause you any trouble" Jungkook says, now feeling a bit guilty about the situation since he had taken his eye off her for a second.
"No, not at all. If anything I should be apologizing for my son. I swear we look away for one second and he's as dirty as can be" she chuckles, finally close to catching her breath.
"Can you tell the nice lady thank you for bringing you back?" Jungkook tells Juni and she does as she's told and I can see that she has just about as much of an affect on this mom as she does with me. If Jungkook's not careful she can use her cuteness for mass destruction if left unchecked.
We hear a boy calling out for his mom that looks just like the woman in front of us now with no doubt her husband trailing after him. "Mom, Dad says it's time to go home" he says, his state twice as bad as Juni's. What is it with kids these days and mud? I chuckle to myself and when the boy notices Jungkook and I with Juni he gets a little shy.
"Oh, hello" he says before he goes and hides behind his mother's leg, "Oh so now you wanna be shy?" his dad teases and snatches him out from his hiding space and whispers no doubt an encouragement for him to apologize.
"I'm sorry for getting her all dirty. She was just really nice and I wanted to have fun with her" he mumbles and I can see hints of pink peeking through the streaks of dirt on his cheeks just like Juni.
What did I say? Weapon of mass destruction.
"It's okay sweetie, I'm just glad you had fun" I say, brushing off his apology and when he looks up at me now I can see that his blush deepens and opts to hide behind his Dad's leg this time. "Alright well say goodbye" his mom says and he mumbles a quiet goodbye and gives Juni a shy wave compared to hers being one to match her outgoing and bubbly self.
"Can we play again tomorrow?" Juni asks him and he looks up at his parents for approval. "We usually come here around this time everyday after school so you just have to ask your Mommy and Daddy if you can come again" she says and when I try to deny her claims Jungkook jumps in before I can get a word out. "We'll be here" he says and Juni smiles so wide.
"See you tomorrow!" she calls out to them and the trio waves goodbye one last time before heading to their car.
"Mommy and Daddy?" I turn to Jungkook while Juni is busy doing a little happy dance before taking a drink of her juice box. "Well I um, I guess they couldn't help but think we're her parents so it felt best to not correct them" he says while rubbing the back of his neck, his cheeks dusted a light shade of pink just like the little boy's were when he was looking at Juni.
"Right, and when they say something tomorrow?" I tease and he clears his throat, no doubt not thinking this whole thing through. "Well I guess there's no harm in faking it?" he says and now I'm the one that's nervous.
"Faking it? You mean you want me to pretend to be Juni's mom? Why?" I ask, flustered by the thought of it. "I'm sorry I guess I didn't think about how you might feel about it. I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable" he apologizes but I rush to explain myself.
"I'm not uncomfortable I'm just shocked that you would want to go along with something like that to keep up appearances for people that we hardly know" I say, trying to figure out where his head is at. "Sorry that was a stupid suggestion we don't have to do it if you don't want to" he says and I shake my head.
"I mean I want to, but do you? I mean what about Juni? What's she gonna think?" I ask and watch as she chases a butterfly that has caught her eye. "We can just tell her we're playing pretend" he says and I raise a brow at him.
"That's the best you got?" I ask and he chuckles nervously. It's funny to see that a tall, strong, handsome man like him is getting so shy about this but I'll play along, I just don't want to confuse Juni.
"Juni can you come here for a second?" Jungkook calls and she turns and runs over to us right away, looking between the two of us since we're both looking at her with no doubt some very strange expressions. "You like to play pretend right?" he asks and she brightens up at the thought, "It's my favorite thing to do!" she says, twirling around in her very adorable muddy dress.
"How would you feel if we started playing pretend with Ms. y/n?" he asks and she gets even more excited and does her little chanting of 'Yes' over and over again, a very adorable habit of hers.
"So this is what we're gonna do, whenever we're out and about with Ms. y/n we're going to pretend like we're a family. You'll be the Baby, I'll be the Daddy and Ms. y/n will be the Mommy, does that sound alright to you?" he asks and she giggles and looks between the two of us, clearly loving the idea.
"Yes let's do it!" she says, fully confident in her playing pretend skillset. "Alright Juni but there's one little rule" he says and she come in close, knowing that this part is probably a secret. "You can't call her Mommy in front of her parents or grandma and grandpa, got it?" he says and I fully agree with him, we don't need to get their hopes up when we still don't know exactly what we are.
"Got it! Mommy?" she asks, getting my attention and trying on the name for size and I answer to it right away, somehow feeling almost natural already. "Yes Juni?" I ask, and she looks over at the playground for a second before looking back over at me. "Can I go play for just a little while  longer?" she asks, holding her hands together and giving me the cutest puppy dog eyes I've ever seen.
"Go ahead" I say and she giggles and rushes off to run around just for a little while longer just like she said. "It suits you" Jungkook says and I look over at him curiously, "What does?" I ask with a tilt of my head. "You being a mom" he says and the words die in my throat. I've always been told I'd be a good mother when the time came but hearing it from him after what we just agreed to do just...
"Thank you" I say, my heart squeezing in a painful but also grateful way and he gives me a smile before he places his hand on my waist for a second to solidify his sincerity before walking a bit closer to the playground to watch Juni.
I decide to start packing up the stuff we had brought and by the time Juni is dragging her feet back over to me and completely out of breath I've got everything ready to go. "You tired?" I ask and she nods her head, her blinks getting lazy as a clear sign that it's time for bed.
"Why don't I carry her home...I mean back to my mom's house" I correct myself quickly but I can tell he liked the sound of what I had said, my implication being completely different from what he had imagined. "It's alright, I can carry her, we've got one pretty dress all muddy so I don't think we need another one" he chuckles.
I pause for a second and pull out the picnic blanket we brought and hold it against myself before picking her up. "Problem solved" I say and he can't help but smile at my solution and quickly takes Juni's shoes off and wipes her feet clean as best as he can before taking the end of the blanket and  tucking it all up so she's practically wrapped up like a burrito.
"You sure you can cary her? She can get a bit heavy when she's sleepy like this, especially since we've gotta walk for a little bit" he offers and I assure him I'm fine. "What kind of mother would I be if I couldn't carry my child home?" I tease and his eyes widen, clearly having forgotten the little game we're playing.
"How dare I doubt your capabilities as a mother" he chuckles and picks up our stuff, motioning for me to lead the way.
A few minutes go by and we're left in a comfortable silence on our way back to my parent's house and when I decide to speak up he does the same. "I-" "Tha-", "Sorry you go first" "No that's okay you go first" and we toss it back and forth a few more times before he hits me with the age old "Ladies first".
"Thank you for coming tonight and letting me spend some more time with Juni...well and you of course" I say sheepishly and he smiles. "I would hope you like spending time with me since you are my wife after all" he teases and now we've switched personalities. "You know, I think you're getting a little too comfortable with this already" I say and he smiles, playing with his lip piercing that I somehow only noticed right now, the silver glistening from the street lights.
There's so many things I haven't noticed about him yet, or even know about him but somehow everything seems so easy.
"I mean can you blame me? You fit right in with Juni and I. Honestly better than I thought you would" he mumbles the last part to himself and I have to try my absolute hardest not to literally fall for him. I'm holding his daughter so I would one thousand percent say that now is not the time.
"What?" I ask, needing clarification but he doesn't give. "Oh nothing" he smiles and picks up the pace, leaving me trailing behind him and right when I go to say something else Juni flinches leaving me slowing down and soothing her back to sleep. "Your Daddy is crazy, you know that?" I whisper to her as if she could hear me but the need to say something was too great.
A minute or two later we're walking up to my mom's house and I twist my body to give him access to the small purse I brought with us and let him fish out the keys to open the door.
When my mom hears us come in she goes to give us a no doubt overly exaggerated welcome home but as soon as she sees a very sleepy Juni in my arms she cuts herself off and switches to a hushed tone.
"Looks like you all had fun" she chuckles and caresses Juni's head for a second, checking to see if she's really asleep and she very much is. "Maybe a little too much fun" Jungkook chuckles, seeing my mother slowly realize how dirty Juni had gotten.
"She's a cheeky one isn't she?" my mom smiles lovingly and I can't help but wish this whole mom thing with Juni was real. "She is indeed" Jungkook agrees, and hands my mother the picnic basket.
"Thank you so much for letting me steal your daughter today" Jungkook teases and I can tell that she absolutely loves this. "Honestly you can keep her. I hardly see her anyways" she says, giving Jungkook permission as well as sending a jab my way.
"Mom" I groan and the both of them smile as if they delighted in my embarrassment. "I just might" he says softly while looking over at me and I can see my mom picking out the wedding venue as we speak, meanwhile I'm wrestling with myself to stay calm.
We agreed to fake this relationship which means that everything he says is fake...right? I need to separate the real from the delusion but he unfortunately isn't making this any easier.
We say our final goodbyes to my mom and she watches until we walk up to Jungkook's car, no doubt still watching behind the curtain of one of our front windows, spying on us as if her life depended on it. I try to ignore it though because how we end tonight is really important to me.
"Can I ask you something?" I say after he finishes putting Juni in the car, him closing his car door and walking me over to my car just a few feet away. "Anything" he says while ushering me toward it with a hand on my waist, a slight sign of protection since it's gotten a lot darker than we both realized.
"When you said I fit in better than you thought I would...and that you might keep me, was that a part of this whole faking it thing we have going?" I ask, wanting to have an open line of communication with him. We're not shy teenagers anymore so as adults I feel like this is something really important to establish.
"Do you want it to be?" he asks, standing in front of me while I lean against my car door. It still very much being locked as a very clear sign that I don't want this to end. "I mean we just met and..." I say, trailing off because I don't really know what I want. All I know is I like him. I really really like him and his daughter has got me wrapped around her cute little finger.
"I know, we can take this slow. If this whole husband/wife thing is too much for you we don't have to do it" he offers and I shake my head, "No, no I want to. I just don't want the lines to get too blurry" I explain and he nods his head and leans his hand against the car right next to where I'm standing.
"Blurry lines aren't a problem for me when it comes to you, it's your call though" he says and if my heart wasn't already racing it surely would've been now. I look up at him and hold my breath when he gets closer my eyes not leaving his and when he lean down I close my eyes, giving into whatever he wants to do to me.
"Goodnight" he whispers, his warm breath fanning my neck making me lose my sense of reality for a second, wanting to lose myself in him without abandon. I can hardly breathe let alone think straight and he chuckles at that, standing up straight and ghosting his fingers along my jaw before stepping aside, a clear sign for me to get into my car and when I fumble with my keys he takes them and unlocks it and opens the door for me.
I sit down inside and look up at him, indulging myself for a few more seconds. When he hands me my keys he makes our hands touch only for a moment before saying a soft 'Drive safe'.
When he closes the door for me I finally let out that breath I had desperately been holding back, watching as he walks back to his car with his little Juni still sound asleep.
I watch him pull out of the driveway and decide that even the way he drives is irresistible, giving me a small wave before he goes and while I'm lost in thought I almost jump out of my skin when I hear my phone ringing and my mom's name pops up.
"Mom I really can't talk right now" I say, putting her on speakerphone and starting to car. "Do not give me that y/n I am your mother and set you up with this man so tell me what is going on" she says and I sigh, checking all my mirrors and heading out as well just seconds later.
"To be honest mom I don't even know. He's showing me very very clear signs that he's interested in me but I can't really say much of anything else at this point" I admit, the realization that the state of our relationship is anything but normal.
"We just met last night and things are progressing fast, like really fast" I sigh, stopping at a red light, thankfully giving me a second to think. "Well I'd say this is all a good sign. I mean you're both in your thirties honey so adult relationships can progress a lot faster than when you're younger. He's a man that clearly knows what he wants and he wants you. So go for it" she encourages and I take it all in.
"You're biased because you're my mother and would love to have his parents as your in-laws" I say and she scoffs. "Yes but that's not the point. You would be a fool if you let a man like him walk out of your life" she scolds and I know she's right.
"I'll do my best to keep an open mind. But please don't talk to his mom yet, or at least not tonight. I don't need both of you losing sleep over this" I warn her but I know she'll do as she pleases no matter what. "You know I can't do that, but I'll do my best" she says and that is the biggest lie she's ever told but I'm not surprised since we dangled this whole thing right in front of her face.
"You called her already didn't you?" I sigh and she chuckles. "As soon as I closed the door" she admits and I sigh, not the slightest bit surprised. "Alright mom well I gotta go but we'll talk again soon" I say, pulling into my parking spot and turning off the car.
"Okay well keep me updated" she says and I can't help but roll my eyes. "Between you and Mrs. Jeon I'm sure you can keep each other in the loop" I say, putting my keys in the lock and closing the door behind me when I step into my apartment. "But I gotta go alright, I'll talk to you later" I say once again and hang up as soon as she says goodbye.
"Hi Salem" I sigh, watching as he jumps down from his cat tree and stretches before walking up to me, rubbing against my leg before walking over to his food bowl, clearly requesting the very late dinner I'm giving him. "I'm sorry boy, I guess I gotta get you one of those timed feeders now from the looks of it" I apologize and give him his food right away.
I put a couple treats into his bowl as well as an apology and make my way back to my room to jump in the shower and think about everything that happened today.
Jungkook basically admitted that he wants to get to know me better because he clearly feels like he can see a future between us and to be honest I pretty much feel the same way. It could be that we've caught a severe case of puppy love but I think we both know that this could potentially go somewhere.
I love spending time with him and Juni, granted this is only the second time we've spent time together but still I can't get over the fact of how natural it all felt. Then he goes and pulls this whole pretend to be married business and now he's telling me he doesn't mind if the lines are blurred between us.
This is all way too much for one day but I can't deny that I'm not enjoying the journey. This is progressing a whole lot faster than I thought it would but that doesn't necessarily mean that's a bad thing. I guess we've both got a whole lot of learning to do.

Can you write about the slashers finding out the nurse has a stalker? (That isn't them lol)
(Hi ! Sorry for the absence everyone. It has been a really busy year for me. But here you go ! Thank you for the request !)
Tumblr media
Jack is usually pretty chill. He wouldn’t do anything at first if he saw the stalker didn’t bother anyone. But, if he saw that the stalker was starting to get a little too annoying ? He would make him get the message.
Jack would drape an arm over your shoulders and give the stalker the ‘Get out of my face’ look.
And if he still didn’t get the message ?
Then the stalker would unfortunately find his way down a flight of stairs—the express way.
Tumblr media
You were sleeping when you heard someone open your window. You immediately turned on your lamp, but was surprised to find Patrick Bateman standing in the middle of your room.
He was covered in blood and lit up a cigar.
He took a deep puff and exhaled loudly.
You waited a few minutes before asking what he was doing here and why he was covered in blood. To which, he took his time to answer.
Patrick: "I apologise. I found a cockroach at your window."
You *look him up and down suspiciously*: "…Must have been one hell of a cockroach, huh ?"
Him *smirks* : "One BIG cockroach."
Tumblr media
Bo: "Ssh…You the one who likes followin’ Nurse Y/N around, huh ? Ssh…Come on. We wouldn’t want to wake them up with your pussy screams, right ?" *proceeds to bust the stalker’s kneecaps*
Bo is the type of man to take action. He wouldn’t wait or warn you about the problem—but he would take care of it. Because he likes to be the man of the situation, the one who takes care of business and makes sure no one would be stupid enough to bother you.
So, let us just say that the stalker unfortunately didn’t make it.
Tumblr media
"Oh oh oh. Naughty naughty stalker. You are one fffffunny human, ain’t ya ?!"
You woke up the next day with a pool of blood next to your bed. When you asked Penny about it, he replied with a large smile that he had a midnight snack.
Tumblr media
You told Norman and asked for his opinion on what to do. He asked you to explain exactly what was happening and remained with a polite smile on his face as you proceeded to explain everything.
Once you were done, he still had a smile on his face. He wordlessly stood up, rolled up his sleeves and left for a couple of minutes before returning with an axe.
Your eyes widened and you tried to stop him, but too late. He stepped outside, knowing your stalker was probably waiting for you to get out of the house. The stranger was surprised when he saw Norman leave. It didn’t take Norman long to spot the stalker and without his smile leaving his face, he walked towards the stalker and swung his axe—barely missing the top of the stalker’s head.
"…If my baby girl/boy ever tells me you have been following her/him again…I won’t miss."
And with that, Norman went back into the house—humming a happy tune…while the stalker was left on the ground with his pants soiled upon having the scare of his life.
Tumblr media
Pennywise was being his usual annoying and sarcastic self when he noticed someone following you from a distance. He didn’t care at first…not until he read the guy’s thoughts. And what he found in there ? It was enough to make his usual smile falter.
After that day, he decided to teach the guy a lesson. He hence took your appearance for a day and lured your stalker away from anywhere where they could be seen. And when he was sure there was no one around ? He took back his appearance and in one second, gulped down the stalker.
Literally.
No more stalker. Pennywise didn’t even leave the bones behind.
Tumblr media
Brahms noticed from the start. Of course he did. Brahms used to be a stalker himself. But, your stalker was not a professional stalker and Brahms didn’t take him all that seriously at first. Besides, who was he to judge ?
But then…He hurt you. He took pictures of you. He kept them to himself, and Brahms felt as if it was getting exhausting for you.
And Brahms could not take it anymore.
One night as you were sleeping, the stalker crept into your room as per usual, but Brahms was waiting for him this time. And before he could approach your bed, Brahms took the stranger by the neck and held him above the ground. The stranger’s feet kicked the air…until they didn’t move at all.
Brahms let his body fall to the floor. He then proceeded to drag him out of your room—unaware that you had been awake the whole time. You closed your eyes and let go of the knife you had been clenching in your hand.
Tumblr media
Jason noticed that one of the nurses was following you around. At first, he didn’t do anything as it seemed that you weren’t all that bothered by it. But then, he realised that you weren’t smiling as often anymore and that you would occasionally take pills to help with the tiredness (having a stalker meant really little sleep since you knew they were watching you.)
And finally, the stalker hurt you. He saw a bruise around your wrist and that…That he couldn’t handle.
At his arrival in St Louis, his machete was confiscated, but he was hired by a domestic furniture company to do mandatory work. And guess what is in high supply in his place of work ? That’s right. Wood and nails. Jason built himself a wooden mace with nails. Poor stalker ended up in a ditch around the hospital…his whole body smashed and mushed.
Tumblr media
The moment Michael Myers would get a whiff of that stalker near you, he would become a permanent wall between you and the stalker. Your own watcher and bodyguard. The stalker would become the observed. Michael wouldn’t sleep or eat while the stalker is still there. And the moment they would meet ? Myers would make him regret ever being birthed into the same world as him…

Boyfriend haul
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
background information:
recently i saw this video on tiktok where people show off their boyfriends in a haul type of tiktok so i wanted to show how this would go with bakugou.
bakugou and reader are both 21
bakugou lives with kaminari, kirishima and sero. I like to imagine they’re apartment having a up and downstairs.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:e⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
There are two things you love. Tiktok and your Boyfriend katsuki, and what’s better then one of them? both of them,…together.
You were in bakugous room watching tiktoks when a video comes up on your fyp called ‘ Boyfriend haul ‘. While watching the video you couldn’t help but smile at the video, then a bright idea came up to ask bakugo to do this with you.
Bakugou doesn’t really post on tiktok, but in the past he has done videos with you “ against his will “ so there shouldn’t be a problem.
You get out of his bed and go downstairs to the living room. Apon entering the area the first person to notice your presences is sero while he’s making his way back to the rest of the group.
“ hey y/n! how was your nap?” “ Ah it was good, i slept in the best bed after all “ hearing this sero giggles. Hearing your name the first person to turn around is kaminari, he’s the one you’re the closest with.
“ Y/NNNNNNN you’ve FINALLY awoken from you slumber “ he says as he gets up and makes is way over to you. Bakugou sees you but doesn’t do anything knowing you’ll make your way over to him. Once all three of you make your way to the couch you immediately go and sit next to bakugou.
“ Hi suki “ you say while giving him a hug. “ hey “ kaminari sees this and says “ ew you woke up just to snuggle with your boyfriend? “ “ shut up “ kirishima says before bakugou could say anything ( or do anything).
“ i need you help with something suki “ “ huh? with what? “ “ come upstairs and i’ll show you “ bakugo gives you a confused face and mumbles something underneath his breath but ends up getting up and following you back to his room.
“ Sooo….what kind of-“ “ shut up kaminari “ sero and kirishima say together “ wow, live with yours friends they said, it will be soooo much fun “ he says while leaning back into the couch,
once making it up stairs you pull out your phone. “ what the hell are you doing, and what do you need help with? “ “ Look “. you show him the video and say “ can we do this please “ with a smile.
“ No. “ “ WHY “ “ because that’s stupid, plus you said you needed help with something. i thought you saw a spider and needed me to kill it “ he said while sighing and crossed his arms. Looking into his eyes, you put you hands on you hip and say “ fine i’ll ask kaminari “ while walking past him. Once you reach the outside of the door he immediately pulls you back into the room and slams the door “ like hell you will, hurry up and do what you going to do. “
Satisfied with his answer you walk over to his desk and set up your phone to record “ ok so go over there, out a frame and then i’ll introduce you and say a bunch of stuff then we’re done” “ what are you going to say….. “ “ don’t worry a bunch of good things”” fine whatever”. Before pressing record you stand on your tippy toes and give him a quick kiss.
“ Ok guys i got a boyfriend for christmas and im going to give you all a haul “ stepping out of frame you grab bakugo and walk you both back in “
“ this model is a hero, he’s 6’2 and blonde and has red eyes “ you pull bakugos face into the camera which he grumbles at “ turn to side, ok nice jaw line, turn to the other side. and he has dimples” backing him up you say “ put your head up “ “ what? “ “ oh my- here “ you pull his head back and say “ nice adam’s apple, ok now here’s my favorite feature “ you turn bakugou to the side and grab his arm and roll up his sleeve. “ this model and very VERY nice arms. I like to bite them thinking it will taste like strawberry cake, it never does “.
Hearing this bakugou smiles “ ok now back to the front, he’s very nice to look at and to touch, ok turn around. thank you Anyways he has a great back and a nice butt that i like to grab”. Before you can even touch bakugou he grabs your hand and looks at you with a dark look “ Don’t “ Rolling your eyes you turn him back around and say.
“ i wasn’t going to mention this but as you can see this model does have a couple of malfunctions, he likes to talk back and has a very slick mouth. He also likes to fight. “
Apon hearing this bakugou breaks the cool guy and completely blows up “ HUHHH?? DO YOU GET OFF BY SAYING CRAP LIKE THIS?? THAT IS NOT TRUE “ “ know bakugou had no intention of hurting you, you turn to the camera and say “ see “ this only further angers him, he pull you into him picks you up and walks over to drop you on his bed “ See what? you know what you’re right i do like to fight and we’re gonna fight right now”. he says while raising both his hands and moving his fingers “ WAIT KATS NO- “
Bakugou katsuki ended up tickling you until he felt like you had been punished enough.Once he was done he leaned down and gave you a small kiss. it was sweet and soft really showing how much he cared about you. once he pulled away and got up and said “ hurry up and come downstairs before anyone gets any ideas”
Bakugou left you there with a sore tummy and sore cheeks but at least you got through your video.
The next day when you woke up bakugou wasn’t there, you saw a text message saying “ sorry I had to leave earlier then expected, hero stuff “ then and hour later he sent “ Also you’re video isn’t as horrible as i thought it would be “ confused you open tiktok and see that your video had completely blew up.
Rewatching it you couldn’t help but smile. Bakugou always knew how to put a smile on your face.

Can I get period comfort with the marauders? and or all of them is fine, and it can be romantic or platonic! I might be projecting because I just got mine the time I’m typing this. 😩
Feel free to ignore this request if it makes you uncomfortable to write :-)
Hi darling, thank you for requesting, this is too cute ugh- I hope you don't mind but I made it Poly!Marauders! (I seriously need to have more fics of poly!Marauders) I also crave period comfort fics when it's that time of the month, so I hope this is what you had in mind, enjoy! (Note: I literally published this the second I finished writing it, expect possible typos and grammatical errors)
Lazy Days
Pairing: Poly!Marauders x Fem! Reader
CW: Language and Marlene being herself. (1.4k words)
Tumblr media
“Godric’s balls, this shit bloody hurts.”
You groaned, it hasn’t even been a whole minute since you woke up; and you were already writhing in pain from your lower abdomen and the headache that was slowly getting stronger every second. Out of all the days you could’ve gotten your period, it just had to be where you made plans with your boyfriends to go to Hogsmeade.
You sometimes wondered what you did in your past life to deserve this monthly pain- Marlene tells you you’re just being overdramatic, but who is she to say that about you when she honestly thought she was going to pass out just because Dorcas talked to her? She had no right.
Lily looked over her shoulder and your direction as she was busy fixing her hair, trying to look presentable for the day as she scanned your form. “Your turn?” she asked, lightly frowning. You could only nod in reply as you watched her take out some heat pads, urging you to take it. You immediately snatched it out of her hands, muttering thanks to the red-haired girl and placing it in your tummy. “Are you still going to Hogsmeade with your lover boys?” she asked, applying a bit of lip gloss and mascara.
“Lils, can’t you see the state I’m in?” You complained, rolling in bed as two of your friends are already getting ready to go to their respective Hogsmeade dates. She shot you a pitying look, “I have a solution.” Marlene announces out loud, trying her best not to burst out laughing. “I know it won’t be any good as long as an idea is created in that head of yours, but let’s hear it.” You sat up, crossing your arms and staring at your friend, an eyebrow raised, urging her to go on.
She clutched her imaginary pearl necklaces and glared at you playfully. “How could you?! This solution will be effective for a couple of months, you know!” Now, that got you interested. Scooting to the foot of your bed, you leaned closer to what Marlene had to say, heck- even Lily stopped getting ready as she turned her full attention to Marlene. Was it a potion that can minimize period cramps? If so, you’re ready to spend hundreds of galleons just so you can get a hold of it.
“I say you get one of them to knock you up.” She cackled, barely avoiding the pillow you threw at her and Lily’s shocked gasp.
“You’re bonkers, Marlene!” You cried out, chucking another pillow in her laughing form which hit her in the head, making her stumble, but she continued to laugh hysterically.
Lily shakes her head, looking with a disapproving look at Marlene, like how a mother looks at her child when they misbehave. “We still must graduate, Marls. I’m sure Y/n is responsible enough and are taking… precautions.”
You blushed, looking away. “Damn right we are.” She grumbles, making Marlene laugh even harder.
“Darling? You in there?” Remus knocks gently, Lily opened the door to see Remus dressed in one of his grandpa sweaters, his messenger bag that he got from the three of you on his birthday was already with him, clearly ready to go.
“We’re still waiting on Padfoot and his hair care routine but other than that, we’re good to go- “Remus stopped when he stepped inside the room and saw you, disheveled and far from ready for your date. Your scarred boyfriend frowned, immediately placing the back of his hand on your forehead, checking your temperature. “Feeling under the weather, love?” before you could even answer, the little shit- Marlene, answered for you.
“She wants the three of you to knock her up so she wouldn’t have to deal with monthly periods.”
You can feel your boyfriend sputter beside you, no doubt blushing like a tomato as he managed to stutter, “W-what?” Merlin, you just want to dissolve than be here at this exact moment.
“Marlene, shut up before I hex you too much you couldn’t go on your date with Dorcas.” You warned, looking everywhere and anything to just not meet one of your boyfriend’s eyes. “I’m joking! Love you, Y/n! See ya later!” She rushed out of the room before you could even think of grabbing your wand, bumping into James and Sirius in the process.
“What was that about?” James asked no one in particular, his arm wrapped around Sirius’ waist as they entered the room. Lily sighed, “Just Marlene being Marlene.” She grabbed her bag, about to leave. “I’ll see you later, Y/n! No funny business.” Lily glares in warning at the boys, before shooting you a smile and closing the door shut.
“Now, why aren’t you dressed yet darling?” Sirius kissed your cheek in greeting, sitting beside you as James took a seat beside Remus. “Period cramps.” You grumbled, plopping on your bed again, sighing. “Sorry my loves, looks like you three have no choice but wish I was with you in Honeydukes.” You joked, seeing them exchange a glance with each other. “If you can’t go then we won’t go.” James concluded, already taking off his shoes as Sirius shimmied off his leather jacket and Doc Martens, racing with James, seeing who can cuddle with you fastest.
Remus sighs, sharing a look with you as he saw both his boyfriends almost squish you. “You blokes.” He proceeded to take off his converse and join the cuddle puddle, placing a hand on your lower abdomen, “heat pads?” He asks, looking at you.
“Yeah, Lily let me borrow hers.” You protested when Remus basically took it and threw it on Lily’s bed. “You’re mean, Remmy.” Whining, you try to get up and get it back when the boys gently push you down, not letting you escape their grasp.
“It was already pretty cold, darling. Besides, I’m here.” Remus places his warm hand on your abdomen, even massaging it lightly. You visibly relaxed under his touch. “See? Much better.” He grins. You chuckled, “Yeah, I forgot. You’re a walking furnace, love.”
“If we dropped an egg on Moony, would it sizzle? Or just slowly cook?” James asked curiously, making you throw your head back in laughter.
The room was filled with warmth, with Sirius and James’ presence as well as Remus’ literal warmth. You nestled deep into the cozy nest that the boys had seemed to create, as if protecting you from the outside world, their perfumes wafted into the air, making you relaxed and a tad bit sleepy.
“You know,” Sirius started, his lips brushing gently against your temple, “I’ve heard that cuddling is a natural remedy for period cramps. Scientifically proven, I swear.”
James, who was sprawled out on the other side of the bed, nodded eagerly. “Absolutely. It’s in the Marauder’s Handbook, right next to the chapter on pranks and secret passageways.” Remus rolled his eyes playfully at their antics.
“Marauder’s handbook, huh? So, you’re telling me not only do you have a map but a magical handbook as well?” She teased, raising one eyebrow at Potter’s claims. “I have to see it.” James grins sheepishly, “Erm, well… Moony’s still writing it- “
“Don’t drag me into that, Prongs.”
“Such dorks… I guess I’ll just have to take your guys’ word for it, huh?” You grin, while James hums in agreement. Now, you wonder if you were a hero that saved a nation in your past life to even call the three dorks cuddling you your boyfriends.
“Who needs Honeydukes when I’ve got you guys?” You gestured to their faces, earning a chorus of mock protests. “Oi, I’m not a chocolate frog,” Sirius protested, but his eyes softened as he gazed at you. “But I’d gladly be your Honeydukes substitute.” He winks playfully.
“You sure do look like one though, Padfoot.” James teased as he wiggled his toes under the blanket.
“What was that supposed to mean?!”
“Nothing, I’m just joking!” James automatically shielded his face as Sirius tried to hit his arm, whining.
Together, they cocooned you in affection, their laughter blending with yours. In the little corner of your dorm, you were surrounded by love, laughter, and the promise of more lazy days with just you and your boys.
“So,” James said, breaking the comfortable silence, “who’s up for a game of Exploding Snap?” You groaned, “What if the cards explode all over my bed? I don’t have the energy to clean up after you guys.”
Sirius grinned. “Then we’ll just have to cast a cleaning charm. Besides, it’s worth it to see Moony’s face when he loses.”
Remus rolled his eyes. “I’ll have you know I’m an excellent card player.”
“Sure, Moony,” James teased. “Just like you’re an excellent cook.”
Remus snorted, “Like you’re any better than me, Prongs.”

Summary: You've had a crush on your colleague for years. You go to a work conference with him, and fate fucks with you by making sure you get a room with just the one bed.
A/N: Soooooooo I started working on this back in October 2022, at the request of the lovely @misscharlielulu. Life intervened, and I kinda got the writing yips, but when I saw that @storiesofsvu's bingo had an 'Only One Bed' square I was determined to finish it. Unbeta'd like whoa, so please be gentle! (ao3).
You should have been suspicious of Benson’s offer to send you to the conference from the beginning. It had been presented to you nicely enough - a long weekend in Boston, paid for by the department so you could attend the Conference on Crimes Against Women. It hadn’t taken much persuading to get you to agree to go, especially when you found out Carisi was also going.
That was before the drive from hell. The two of you had left as soon as you finished work for the day, only to almost immediately hit nasty traffic. What should have been a four-hour journey had taken almost seven thanks to an accident just past the Connecticut state line. After swapping driver duties with Sonny somewhere outside of Hartford, you’d found your eyelids starting to get heavy, but had resolved to stay awake. It wasn’t fair to Carisi for you to sleep while he drove.
You have no idea how long you’ve been dozing when a gentle nudge to your arm wakes you.
“Hey, I think we’re finally here,” Sonny says as you rub your eyes. So much for not sleeping. You’re relieved to see that he’s pulling into the parking garage below the hotel, but it's short-lived.
“God, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” You roll your neck, wincing at the crick that’s developed from resting your head on the window.
“It’s fine, I figured you could use it. The Spellman case has us all working late.” He’s right; the case was drawing plenty of media attention, and you’d all been racking up plenty of OT trying to solve it. The two of you had spent part of the drive debating it, and whether there was a way to get the stupid, invasive podcast taken down.
You both grab your bags and make your way to the elevator. Pressing the button for the lobby, you try and fail to suppress a yawn.
“Sorry,” you apologise again. “It’s been a while since I’ve had a good night’s sleep.”
“The feeling is mutual, don’t worry. I can’t even remember the last time I woke up and actually felt rested,” Carisi says lightly, giving you a soft, understanding smile. You try not to think too deeply about the way it makes your stomach twist - or, for that matter, how good he looks in his new camel coat.
“Tell me about it,” you groan. The elevator spills the two of you out into a deserted lobby, and you do a double-take when you look out of the enormous windows at the front of the building.
“Oh, yeah. It started snowing about an hour ago,” Sonny says, cutting himself off with a yawn.  Outside, the snow is coming down thick and fast, already sticking to the ground. You can just about see the glow of a few headlights, but beyond that, the world has turned to a soft dove grey.
There’s a harried-looking woman behind the concierge desk; the Conference attracts cops from all over the country, you wouldn’t be surprised if the hotel was booked out by the various agencies and precincts.
“Hi, we have two rooms booked for us. Should be under the name Benson?” Sonny asks the concierge, searching on his phone for the confirmation email Liv had forwarded to you both. The concierge types something on the computer sitting on her desk and frowns.
“I got one room under that name. Any other name you might have used?”
“No, Liv definitely said she booked them under her name,” you tell her, glancing at Sonny as he turns his phone to show the woman behind the desk.
“Our Lieutenant definitely booked us two rooms, look,” Sonny tries, and the two of you exchange a frown. The concierge scans the email, then her own screen again.
“I don’t know what to tell you. The system only has one booking under Benson. It’s the only room left in the hotel; we’re booked solid because of this conference.” You and Sonny exchange another look.
“I mean - I don’t mind sharing if you don’t?” You tug your lower lip between your teeth, trying to think of another solution that doesn’t involve sharing a bedroom with the colleague you have a very inappropriate crush on. Sonny taps his fingers on the desk and looks again at the concierge as though he’s hoping she’ll be able to conjure another room out of nowhere.
“I wouldn’t wanna make you uncomfortable.” He sounds so earnest, and you want to pinch his cheeks and tell him he could never, but instead you shrug.
“It’s fine, you won’t. Unless you snore, or sleepwalk or something,” you tease, and he grins.
“I’ve never had any complaints,” he says, turning back to the concierge. Is it your imagination, or is he blushing slightly? “Can we get the keys, please?” The woman looks relieved that the two of you have resolved the situation between yourselves, and seemingly can’t press the keycards into your hands fast enough.
“You’re in 2342; take the elevator to the fourth floor and turn right.” The two of you thank her and pick your bags up again.
“Should we say something to the Lieutenant?” You offer as the two of you make your way upstairs. “She might be getting charged for both rooms or something.”
“Yeah, probably. Maybe the hotel thought she meant two beds, not two rooms?” Sonny runs a hand through his hair; the product’s grip on his greying locks has relaxed, leaving it looking soft and touchable.
“Maybe,” you say distractedly, stopping in front of door 2342. “I think this is us.” You try the keycard and are relieved when the light on the lock turns green.
“I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to get some sleep.” Carisi takes your bag as you push open the door, and you smile quickly at him over your shoulder.
“Oh no, the feeling is definitely mutual. I feel like I could sleep for a week-” You abruptly cut yourself off when you turn the light on and get a glimpse of the room. It’s a perfectly nice room–if anything slightly nicer than what you had been expecting on the department’s dime. It’s decently sized, with large windows and a flatscreen on the wall. There’s even a comfy-looking overstuffed armchair by one of the windows.
The only problem is that there’s only one bed.
Your cheeks burn as you realise your mistake. You had assumed that the hotel had accidentally put you in one room with two beds, instead of two rooms with one bed each.
“Oh shit, Carisi, I’m sorry-” You start, walking deeper into the room so he has space to enter behind you and see what the problem is. The door clicks closed behind him, and you swallow thickly.
“Oh. Uh-” he rakes his hand through his hair again. “You take the room. I’ll find somewhere else.” He offers, but you’re already shaking your head.
“Where? The concierge said they were full, and there’s no way you can get a decent room on this short notice.” You worry your bottom lip between your teeth again, trying to walk the fine line between sounding considerate and desperate. As much as the thought of sharing a bed with Carisi makes you panic, you don’t want to kick him out into the cold.
“No, it’s fine. I can sleep in the car if I can’t find anywhere; I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable or anything.” It’s so characteristically sweet that you roll your eyes. Crossing over to the window, you pull the drapes aside just enough to see the snow still falling thick and fast outside.
“You are not sleeping in your car in a blizzard, Carisi. It’s fine, I’ll sleep on the armchair.” You grab a pillow from the bed before he can argue and throw it towards the chair. “Crank the thermostat up and lend me a blanket from the bed, and I’ll be fine.”
“I’m not letting you sleep in a chair,” he says, though he does move over to the thermostat to change it. “I’ll take the chair.”
“You’re like seven feet tall, there’s no way you’re sleeping in the chair.”
“I’m six foot even, and a night sleeping there won’t kill me. In the morning, I’ll look for a room in a different hotel or something.” You open your mouth to argue with him again, but he cuts you off. “You’re not changing my mind. I have three sisters, I know how to be stubborn.”
“Fine. Better than you trying to drive around in this storm, as tired as you are.” You throw your hands up in exaggerated defeat, before starting to tug one of the sheets off the bed. Carisi moves to the other side of the bed to help you, stripping the top sheet off and tossing it onto the armchair.
“You wanna use the bathroom first?” Your bags are still sitting by the door, and you pick up your overnight bag and set it on the bed. For a brief moment you panic as you start to unzip it; what pyjamas did you pack in your hurry this morning? You can’t remember if they’re relatively normal looking, or the grotty but oh-so-cosy ones you usually reserve for being ill or on your period.
“Nah, you go ahead.” Out of the corner of your eye, you can see him shaking the sheet out to drape it over the armchair. Your hands finally close on your pyjamas, and you take them and your toiletry bag into the bathroom. The bathroom is, just like the room, nicer than you had expected it to be. The little soaps and shampoos are brands you actually recognise, and you’re delighted to see that your room has a shower and a tub. Maybe tomorrow you can have a nice, long soak and pretend this mortifying night never happened.
It doesn’t take you long to throw your hair up in a messy bun and wash the remains of your makeup off your face. You strip quickly out of your work clothes, hesitating a moment before deciding to keep your bra on. Slipping on the grey tank top you’d brought as a pyjama top, you’re a little relieved that the pyjamas you’d grabbed at random from the drawer were plain and not embarrassingly old or cutesy.
Your relief is short-lived. When you go to shake out the folded-up black leggings, you realise with dawning horror that they’re not your leggings at all. In your hurry to pack this morning, you’d grabbed a pair of pyjama shorts, black jersey with a little lacy trim. Your face burns flaming hot again as you stare at them. You have no other choice - your only other bottoms are work clothes, and a pair of jeans - but they show off more of your leg than you’re really comfortable with your colleague seeing.
Cursing yourself for leaving packing until this morning you reluctantly slide the shorts on, trying to tug them down to cover a little more of your thighs. Clutching your clothes to your chest, you take a deep breath before stepping out of the bathroom.
Carisi has been busy while you’ve been gone. He’s made a makeshift bed for himself on the armchair, and moved the bags away from the door. Your purse is sitting beside your weekend bag, and his own bag is open on the desk. He’s currently searching through it, and you can't help staring a little. His coat, jacket and tie are gone and he’s rolled his shirt sleeves up, exposing his forearms. You swallow thickly and drag your eyes away with difficulty. You need to grow up.
The bathroom door closes behind you, catching Sonny’s attention. He looks up from whatever he’s searching for in his bag and does a double-take when he sees you.
“Why are you wearing shorts during a blizzard?” He teases, unable to help the laugh that escapes him. “Did you leave packing til the last minute again?” Your cheeks are probably hot enough to counter whatever cold you might feel from the weather, and you glare at him.
“Shut up. They were folded, I thought they were leggings.” You dump the clothes in your arms into your open bag and dig around for your phone charger. Sonny chuckles again and shakes his head.
“You sure you’re gonna be warm enough? You can borrow my hoodie if you want.” You’re sorely tempted to take him up on the offer. The burgundy hoodie he’s holding out to you looks cosy, and it undoubtedly smells amazing, but you can’t. You need to get over this, whatever this is.
“I’ll be okay.” With your phone charger in hand, you move your bags onto the floor by the bed and set about plugging your phone in to charge overnight. Sonny quietly excuses himself to the bathroom, and you take advantage of having the room to yourself to clamber into bed without showing any more of your legs. You almost groan once you settle down under the blankets; this bed is comfortable. It’s almost enough to make you glad that Sonny insisted on sleeping on the armchair instead of you. Almost. Once you’re suitably snuggled in, you unlock your phone and type out a quick message to Benson explaining the room situation.
It doesn’t take Carisi long to return from the bathroom, and you let out an inelegant snort when you see him.
“Why are you wearing shorts during a blizzard?” You parrot teasingly, raising an eyebrow at him. Sonny’s wearing a Fordham tee and a pair of cotton boxer shorts. He has the good grace to flush, and he shrugs.
“It’s what I usually sleep in. I run warm.”
“You can turn the thermostat down if it’s gonna be too warm?” You offer. “I feel like a dick taking the bed and making you too hot.” He flashes you that soft smile again.
“You’re still just in shorts. Sure you don’t want my hoodie?” Carisi sets his folded clothes on the desk by his bag and waits for your answer.
“No, I’ll be fine. Turn the thermostat down a few degrees.” The room isn’t even that cold at the moment, and you’re sure you won’t feel it if the temperature drops a little while you sleep. Sonny obliges, fiddling with the thermostat again before settling down onto his armchair bed.
“Is it okay with you if I set an alarm for half nine?” The conference kicks off at eleven; an hour and a half should be plenty of time to shower and find some breakfast before you have to go downstairs.
“Yeah sure,” Carisi says, his reply trailing off into a yawn. “G’night.” You flip the switch by the bed, plunging the room into darkness.
“Night, Carisi.”
You really try to fall asleep. The bed is so comfortable, and you’re so tired. You had fallen asleep in the car, sitting up with the radio blaring. You’re not sure why it evades you now. The minutes tick by, and you can hear Sonny moving around in the chair, trying to find a comfortable position. Perhaps it's guilt keeping you awake, you reason.
You’re not sure how much time has passed when you break the silence.
“Carisi?” You half-whisper, not wanting to wake him if he’s asleep.
“Yeah?” He sounds tired, and the guilt overrides any embarrassment you might feel.
“Will you just come and sleep here?” The question hangs in the air, and there’s a long pause while you wait for Sonny’s answer. “I don’t have cooties, Carisi, you can sleep next to me.”
“No, I know, but-” He pauses, and you hear him shift again. “Are you sure you don’t mind?”
“Positive.” It’s so stupid of you. You’ve had a crush on Carisi since you first laid eyes on him; inviting him to sleep beside you is an unnecessary form of self-torture. But you know you’ll feel even worse tomorrow having to look at the deep shadows under his eyes from a sleepless and uncomfortable night in the chair.
You hear him sigh softly. A moment later, the mattress dips as he settles into the bed. Sonny’s keeping his distance, but you’re still painfully aware of his body in bed beside you. It’s unbearably intimate, and if it wouldn’t make you look like a lunatic after telling him how fine you were with him getting in, you’d take a pillow and go and sleep in the tub.
Annoyed with yourself, you roll over onto your side, facing away from him. As idiotic as you might be, at least you won’t have to deal with the guilt of depriving him of a good night’s sleep. Beside you, his breathing is evening out. Maybe at least one of you will sleep well.
******
You wake up feeling confused. You have no idea how you managed to fall asleep, or how long you’ve slept for. You’re also very preoccupied with the fact that you and Carisi appear to be spooning.
Sonny’s arm is slung over your waist and his body is curled around yours from behind, holding you close. His nose is pressed against the hinge of your jaw, his breath warm on your neck.  Your bare legs are tangled together, and you’re so overwhelmed by the feel of so much of his skin against yours that it takes you a moment to realise what woke you.
Carisi is hard.
The line of his erection is pressing against the curve of your ass, and you nearly choke on your own tongue at the feeling. You take a deep breath and try to make sense of what’s happening. The two of you must have rolled together at some point in the night, and Sonny’s reaction must just be morning wood.
Not that being in Sonny’s arms is unpleasant. He’s warm and solid against you, and he smells good; something clean and masculine and him. Closing your eyes again, you try to figure out what to do. Before you can settle on an idea, Sonny’s arm briefly tightens around your waist, only to suddenly slide off.
“Oh fuck-” Carisi practically throws himself backwards, away from you. Sitting up in bed, you turn to look at him as he tries to extricate himself from the sheets and scramble out of bed. “Oh fuck, I’m so sorry.” You follow him, managing to grab his hand before he can move away from the side of the bed.
“Carisi, it’s okay. It’s okay, you were asleep-” You start, kneeling on the bed in front of him and holding his hand tightly within your own. He’s shaking his head before you even get the first few words out, those beautiful blue eyes of his wide and distraught.
“It’s not okay,” he says, refusing to look down at you. “I was practically molesting you in your sleep-”
“Stop, you weren’t molesting me,” you try to argue, but Carisi ignores you.
“I’ll call the Lieutenant on my way back to Manhattan, let her know. God, this isn’t how I wanted you to find out. But you never have to see me again, I promise,” he rambles, trying to free his hand from your grasp. You don’t let go, giving it a squeeze instead.
“Calm down, take a breath. How you wanted me to find out what?” You adjust your position on your knees, barely able to breathe yourself. Sonny’s palm is hot and damp against yours, and you can see his Adam’s apple bob as he swallows thickly.
“Find out that I liked you.” Carisi manages eventually, still steadfastly refusing to look down at you. Your heart is hammering against your ribcage, and your blood roars so loudly in your ears that you’re not sure you heard him right. You know he likes you, you’ve been friends for years. But he’s saying it in a way that conveys so much more than that, and you suck in a breath.
“You like me?”
“I- yeah. And now I’ve ruined it, and made you uncomfortable-” he starts again, and you roll your eyes. You bring your free hand up to his cheek, and the gentle touch is what finally makes him meet your eyes.
“Dominick. You haven’t made me uncomfortable. Really, you haven’t.” That finally silences him, your use of his real name catching his attention, though it doesn’t stop his eyes from searching for any hint to the contrary in your face. You take a deep breath, choosing your next words carefully. “And…and you haven’t ruined anything either.”
Before you can talk yourself out of it, you lean up to kiss him.
It’s not much more than a peck, a soft brush of your lips against his own ones. You pull back just a little, your noses almost brushing.
“I’m okay,” you whisper. “You have no idea how much I enjoyed waking up in your arms.” There’s a silence so deep that you’d swear you should be able to hear the snow falling outside. Those lovely eyes of his bore into yours, sending your heart hammering even harder. After a long pause, his free hand comes up to cup your jaw with deliberate slowness, giving you time to move away.
Sonny’s thumb sweeps gently over your cheek as he lowers his head and kisses you. His lips are soft and full against yours, testing at first and deepening the kiss when you slide your free arm around him to pull him closer. A quiet sound of contentment escapes your throat as Sonny dips his tongue into your mouth, finally letting go of your hand so he can grasp your waist.
You can’t seem to get close enough to him, even with your chests pressed flush against one another. The kiss turns from careful to desperate as years of pent-up attraction are finally given an outlet.
It’s impossible to tell who moves first to lie down on the bed, whether you pull him down or he pushes, but you end up lying parallel to the headboard with Sonny on top of you. Your mind can barely reconcile that your longtime crush reciprocates your feelings, much less the warm weight of his body pressed against you.
Wanting to feel more of him, you slip one of your hands beneath the hem of his t-shirt and run your fingertips over his back. He shivers at the delicate touch, a sensitivity you mentally file away for later. Your legs fall open, and you choke back a whine when you feel the hard line of his cock press against you once more.
It’s so much. You want to feel him everywhere, to keep exploring him with your hands and mouth.
“Can I?” You ask, grabbing the hem of his t-shirt and pulling gently. He follows your lead, letting you pull the shirt over his head and discard it onto the floor. He was telling the truth earlier; he does run warm, his bare skin hot to the touch as your hands roam his back and sides.
One of Sonny’s hands drops down to hitch your leg over his hip, his large hand squeezing your thigh.
“I love your legs,” he murmurs. The kisses have left you breathless, but you still whine when he stops. Your hands sink into his soft hair as he shifts to press kisses down the column of your throat. You don’t mean to pull his hair when he kisses a particularly sensitive spot, but when he groans against the delicate skin you take it as your cue to do it again.
“Want you, Dominick,” you sigh against his forehead, rocking your hips to grind against him. You feel his breath catch in his throat, his own hips stutter against yours. There are too many layers of clothes between the two of you, and you do your best to wriggle out of your t-shirt without displacing Carisi.
Like the gentleman that he is, he helps you out. His hands cover yours to take over, pulling the soft cotton over your head. Your hands sink back into his hair almost immediately.
“Why’d you wear a bra to sleep in?” He asks, a soft smile playing on his lips. It’s so infuriatingly handsome that you want to drag him back down for more kisses, but you know that won’t get you out of your clothes any faster.
“Didn’t want to risk you seeing my nipples through my shirt,” you explain breathily as he ducks down to kiss over the tops of your breasts while his hands work at the clasp.
“Think I’m about to see a lot more than that, doll,” he mumbles against your skin. It makes you giggle, in spite of yourself. The two of you shed your clothes as quickly as you can while still staying as close as possible, too focused on removing the remaining barriers between you to care too much about the undignified scramble to strip.
“I wanna ride you,” you manage between kisses, and Sonny nearly falls off the bed in his eagerness to oblige you. He settles with his back against the headboard, watching you with hazy eyes as you grab a condom out of your purse.
“C’mere,” he says softly, holding his hands out to help you get comfortable in his lap. He hisses when you roll the condom down over his cock, the hand he’s resting on your hip squeezing reflexively.
“You’re so gorgeous,” you tell him, slowly pumping your hand down, then back up. He does look gorgeous out of his clothes, all lean and long-limbed. “You have no idea how long I’ve thought about this.”
Sonny’s other arm loops around your waist, pulling you just a little closer.
“I’ve been thinking about this since we met,” he admits, his voice breathless with arousal. You rest your free hand on his shoulder as you line him up with your entrance and slowly start to sink down. It pulls a loud moan out of both of you, the sound echoing around the room, so much louder than the whispers and gasps that had come before.
“Oh God, so have I, Sonny-” you manage, screwing your eyes closed. It’s been a while, and the lack of foreplay probably wasn’t wise given the fact that Carisi was bigger than you’d imagined. Not that you’d made a habit of imagining this, in trying to deal with your crush. Instead of sliding down smoothly the rest of the way onto him, you roll your hips, taking a little more of his length on each pass.
Sonny’s a mess under you. His hands clutch tight at your hips, and when you manage to open your eyes again, you see he has his head flung back against the headboard.
“You feel so good, Doll. Christ, you’re so fucking wet and we haven’t even done anything-” he cuts himself off with a shuddering groan as he finally bottoms out inside you. The tip of him is pressing up against that spot inside you that makes your toes curl, and it sends a swell of bliss coursing through you.
“You have such a perfect dick,” you tell him, enjoying the flush that intensifies on his face as he registers what you said. You lift yourself up just a little, an inch at best, and sink slowly back down, your eyes rolling back in pleasure.
You’re not sure if it’s the best adjective, but you need to tell him just how good he feels.
In fact, the two of you can’t seem to shut up. Even when you start riding him in earnest, the headboard bumping against the wall with every stroke, neither of you can stop talking. It’s like every time you’ve wanted to tell him how hot he is over the last three years is spilling out, along with endless praise for how good he feels. He gives it right back, telling you how perfect and sexy and hot you are in between telling you how much he wants to eat you out.
“I’d be so good at it, please doll, I just wanna show you how bad I want it,” he babbles, his hair damp with sweat at the temples.
You’re panting with every breath. Sonny leans forward to nuzzle into your neck, kissing and licking and sucking at the delicate skin there. Your nails dig into his shoulders when he drags his teeth over a particularly sensitive spot, and the groan he makes vibrates through your skin and straight down to your core.
“God, Dominick, yes,” you nearly sob. “So good with your mouth already, want you to kiss me everywhere…” You can’t finish the thought, but it wrenches another groan out of Sonny. You haven’t thought about a next time, whether this is a one-off or if cooler heads will prevail back in New York.
Later, the two of you can talk for real. You’ll wake up feeling better rested than you have in years, naked in Sonny’s arms, and talk about what happened, you promise yourself.
Right now, there’s just the two of you discovering how much you enjoy each other, how badly you’ve both wanted each other. The two of you just fit together, like it’s the easiest, most natural thing in the world. And all the pleasure you feel is magnified a thousandfold by the fact that your crush wasn’t unrequited at all, that Sonny wants you just as much as you want him.
You sink your hand back into his soft hair and ride him faster, utterly drunk on the noises he’s making. Dominick’s mouth wanders, kissing lines up your neck and licking messily at your nipples and nipping gently at your earlobe. In between, he murmurs about how
A real conversation can wait; right now, you want to see what it’ll take for you to leave him speechless.

The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the blood around my mouth. The coppery taste made my stomach lurch as I sat up and touched my mouth.
At least it was dried blood.
The second thing I noticed was the dejected expression on Cate’s face as she sat up on the couch across from me. She stared down at the ground, but she wasn’t looking at anything. For a second, I started to reach a hand towards her but stopped when I remembered what she’d done.
Just as I set my hand back in my lap, Marie and Jordan jerked awake, making me flinch in the process. It wasn’t until I settled a little that I noticed they were flanking me, and I looked down at my lap to hide my wide smile and warm cheeks.
“Is this real?” Marie asked.
“Yes, this is real,” Cate confirmed.
Immediately, Jordan jumped to his feet and shifted to their female form. They grinned so widely at the result that their dimples showed and Marie visibly relaxed next to me. Then, I noticed Marie glance at me.
Maybe if it worked for Jordan…
I took a deep breath and tried to focus on what else would unfold in the day. Instead of a picture, all I saw were hazy black and gray figures in my mind and it felt like my brain had hit a wall. I swallowed the lump in my throat and shook my head.
“Really?” Marie asked, placing her hand on top of mine.
“Don’t worry about it,” I muttered, slowly pulling my hand away.
“I’m sorry, Y/N, your powers should come back soon,” Cate voiced hoarsely.
I thought I nodded as I slowly moved to my feet. “I’m gonna go clean myself up.”
“Do you need any help?” Jordan offered.
“No, I got it.”
After a few minutes of wandering through Dusty’s house, I found a semi-clean bathroom and locked the door as soon as I walked in. The faucet handles were slippery, and it took a few tries before I finally got the water running. When I reached for the paper towel roll on top of the toilet, I realized that my hands were trembling.
“Stop it, Y/N, calm down,” I hissed. “There’s nothing to worry about.”
Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry ran through my head like a mantra as I patted my face with warm water.
“I do not need my powers to be myself,” I muttered. “I’m still me even if I can’t see potential future outcomes.”
Or help my friends or loved ones or pass any crim classes or get a job as a supe.
Then, I was thankful that the running water drowned out my sobs since I wasn’t sure how much of a noise blocker my hand was. I almost collapsed over the sink as my back shook with sobs and the hot tears ran down my face.
No matter how much I wanted to stop crying, I couldn’t. It was like all those years of holding it back made me incapable of doing it in the moment.
Why did this happen to me? Why do I have to get screwed over all the time? bitterly ran through my mind.
I never did anything to Cate to deserve this, nothing at all and she wiped me twice without thinking of the consequences. Wiping two days’ worth of memories from four people’s minds must have been a first for her. There was no telling what that could have done to her powers, and she still did it.
I don’t know why my brain decided that was the time to remember Cate’s playful smile when she talked me into sneaking off campus with the others or her sincerity when I processed my feelings about Jordan and Marie with her. My chest ached and it wasn’t like I had a chest cold----it was almost like I took a direct blow from Luke, but it ached worse than that.
None of Cate’s actions made sense at the moment. Shetty must have put in a lot of effort to manipulate her because she was my friend, almost like the big sister I never had. When I really thought about it, Cate was one of my most attentive friends. Whenever I was stressed or anxious, Cate would take me to her favorite campus green to meditate; when a creepy guy approached me at a party or club, Cate was one of the first people to intervene; and she always insisted that I joined her, Jordan, Andre, and Luke for study groups.
I had to know how she could go from that to rendering me powerless. As I finished cleaning the blood from around the left side of my mouth and nostril, a sinking feeling came over me.
If Shetty could do that to Cate then what had she done to me?
Knock! Knock!
The sound made me jump and shook me out of my stupor.
“One second!” I called, frantically wiping at the other side of my face.
As I stared at my reflection, I internally winced at my red, puffy eyes. It would take at least three rounds of Peter Thomas Roth under eye masks and endless eye drops to remedy them.
“I just wanted to check on you,” Marie’s voice softly called.
I almost froze and huffed.
“Oh, I’m fine.” I sniffled and wiped at my nose.
“I’ll believe you when you open the door.”
Did Marie have some sort of fixation with seeing me at my worst?
“Seriously, you can go back to the others,” I tried to insist.
“If you don’t, I will break down this door.”
“You wouldn’t do that.”
Marie paused. “Jordan would.”
I huffed and threw the used tissues and paper towel in the trash can. After taking three deep breaths to calm myself, I unlocked the door and let Marie in. She immediately entered the room, forcing me to back up. Slowly, her hands grabbed the sides of my face, and she looked me over, eyes softening at the bits of blood I hadn’t been able to clean.
Then, I carefully grabbed her hands and started pulling away. “You don’t have to get that close to see that I’m fine.”
“Oh, I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable,” Marie apologized, then, she frowned. “Actually, no. After everything you said, you pushed me and Jordan away and ran as soon as we woke up; it’s confusing.”
I sighed and turned away from her as I grabbed more paper towel. “I’m sorry. After everything that happened when we were in Cate’s head, I didn’t want you or Jordan to see me like this…again.”
As soon as I turned towards the sink, Marie stepped in front of me and gently took the paper towel out of my hands. She gestured towards the toilet, and I sat on the seat as she wet the paper towel in the sink. After a few seconds, she turned off the faucet and leaned down in front of me.
Marie’s gaze was laser-focused as she cleaned up the rest of my face. The silence in the space was comfortable but I couldn’t stop fidgeting with my braids as she worked.
“When are you gonna understand that Jordan and I don’t care if you don’t look perfect all the time?” she finally uttered. “They just told you how we’re all messy in our own way and it’s okay that you’re a part of it.”
“I didn’t think I had any more tears left in me but I guess I was wrong,” I muttered with a shrug.
Marie hummed in response as she continued gently wiping my face. A few more seconds passed until she was finally done.
“Finding you and Cate scared the shit out of me,” she stated. “It felt like the ground fell out from under me and I had no idea what to do. Jordan had the idea of slowing down your heart rates and it worked but, I’m scared to think what would happen if it didn’t.”
“But it did work because you have amazing powers.” I grabbed her hands. “You saved me, and Cate and I know you’ll save more.” Then, I let go of her hands. “Well, not know-know.”
“Hey, you’ll get your powers back. We’ll figure something out,” Marie insisted. “But what if we don’t” hung on the tip of my tongue and I didn’t let it fall out. Instead, I watched Marie throw away the dirty paper towel and then she grabbed my hands.
“It’s okay to let us help you,” she said.
“But, you’ll get tired---”
“I won’t and I know Jordan won’t either. People take care of each other in relationships.”
I looked down at our clasped hands. “That’s all…new for me.”
Marie squeezed my hands. “Me too but, I know the basics.”
Having a loving family must have been nice; at least Marie had a normal baseline for how to be in a relationship. Then, I realized that she kept looking at me.
“What? Is there something else on my face? Did my eyes get worse?” I rambled.
Marie laughed. “No, your face is fine; pretty.”
My cheeks warmed at her words, and I couldn’t keep the grin off my lips. Then, I felt myself lean towards Marie and she quickly closed the gap. Her lips were slightly chapped but mostly soft against mine. As I pressed my lips against hers, I let go of Marie’s hands and tangled my hands in her twists. Marie’s hands ghosted up my hips and underneath my cardigan, pulling me closer to her.
I sighed at the feeling but didn’t stop kissing her. Somehow, Marie didn’t break the kiss as she stood, pulling me to my feet and running her hands up and down my back.
I could have stayed like that for a while but a scream followed by banging interrupted.
“SAM!” Emma yelled.
We broke apart and I grabbed Marie’s hand and tugged her out of the bathroom with me. When we got to the living room, it was a mess. On one end of the room, Jordan and Andre were picking themselves off the floor and trying to avoid all the broken glass and other furniture casualties. On the other end, Sam held a weak Cate up against a wall that already had a sizable hole in it. Based on the dust on Cate’s clothes, Sam had attacked her. Emma stood behind Sam, eyes wide but her voice calm. “Sam, it’s okay, you can let her go.”
“She hurt you---she made you forget,” Sam griped.
“But I’m okay now, everyone is okay now. You can let her go, she’s not going to hurt anyone else.”
It was hard to gauge how much I agreed with the last part of Emma’s statement, but I doubted Cate would go after one of us again soon. Slowly, Sam let her go and Cate collapsed on the ground, gasping. Marie hurried over to Cate’s side to help her up and Sam backed away from them, eyes still boring holes in the top of Cate’s head.
My eyes flitted to Emma, who seemed a little more relieved, and ran a hand through her messy hair.
“Why is your hair that messy?” I asked.
“What is it with people asking me that today? Why is your lip gloss smudged?”
Then, Jordan turned to me and raised an eyebrow. “Great timing, freshie.”
I thumbed at my lips and my cheeks warmed even more. “Get your head out of the gutter. Anyway, what brought you two back here?”
Emma straightened up. “We were looking for you guys because I wanted, well, actually, Sam has something he would like to say.”
Then, Emma gave Sam the same look her mom gave her when she needed her to improve on a take. Suddenly, Sam’s shoulders slumped, and he pouted as he gazed at the tips of his dirty sneakers.
“I’m sorry for almost killing you guys…twice. I’m working on getting better control of my emotions but being locked up for eighteen years really screws with your head,” Sam stated.
The silence that followed was almost unbearable. Cate’s eyes never left Sam as if she was waiting on him to pounce again; Marie frowned; Andre’s jaw clenched so hard that I wasn’t sure he would speak for a while; and Jordan cocked her head to the side.
Finally, Andre said, “You didn’t almost kill us.”
“Fifteen more seconds and he might have,” Jordan admitted.
“My head is still sore from the last time we met but I’m willing to move forward if you stop attacking us on sight,” I added.
“I’m really sorry about that. You’re Y/N, right? Emma talks about you all the time,” Sam commented.
I grinned. “Oh, really?”
Sam nodded. “Yeah, she was saying that you’re great but clueless about relationships and----”
Emma patted Sam’s chest. “Okay, Sam, that’s enough. We don’t have time to talk about that because of the other thing.”
I narrowed my eyes at Emma. “Clueless, seriously?”
She smiled sheepishly and I sighed.
Unfortunately, Emma wasn’t fully wrong, but she didn’t have to tell Sam that. Besides, I was working on it.
For the next few minutes, the two filled us in on everything that was going on in the Woods. How Shetty had Dr. Cardoza experimenting on supes and how several people Sam knew down there got sick. Even though most of them got better, a couple died.
“And they never experimented on you?” Andre asked.
“Not the way they did with Tommy. He was super messed up but a funny guy. One day, they took him away for a session with Cardoza and I never saw him again,” Sam recalled.
“And Shetty knows about all of this and is doing nothing to stop it?” Marie confirmed.
“She hates supes; she wants us all dead,” Sam griped.
Cate shook her head. “That…that can’t be true. Indira always helped me and Y/N.”
Jordan glared at her. “Come on, Cate. Shetty manipulated the shit out of you because she knew we were getting too close.”
“And I want to know why she wanted the two of us to be so close,” I added.
Cate bit her bottom lip and played with the hem of her sweater. “This…this is a lot.”
I nodded. “But it sounds like they’re working on a virus that targets supes. Based on what Sam described, maybe they picked strong supes that weren’t as useful as Sam to be guinea pigs.” “So, they come up with a virus to kill all of us?” Andre asked.
“I don’t know if that’s the goal, though. Vought has invested way too much money in making supes and if all the GOD U students dropped dead, that’s the next lineup of the Seven gone,” Jordan interjected.
“And society is built around supes, and the fallout would be bad,” Marie said.
“But if Shetty hates us so much, she wouldn’t care,” I thought.
“How is she getting away with this when Vought watches everything? She has to report to them all the time,” Jordan wondered.
Since Brink died, Shetty had to have even more people working under her than before. It would be easy to have certain people cover up for her or maybe the woman was gifted at hiding heinous plots. Seeing how much effort she put into manipulating Cate, there was no telling how far Shetty was willing to go to hide the Woods.
“Shetty could lie on the reports; it’s not like Vought reads through everything carefully,” I pointed out.
“So, what do we do?” Emma asked.
At the moment, I wished that I had my powers. It would have made it much easier to come up with a plan. Instead, I didn’t try but racked my brain for ideas.
“I can help here,” Cate announced.
Everyone turned to her in unison, and no one looked confident. In all honesty, Sam seemed to be contemplating going after her again; Emma looked as though she wished Cate would stop talking; Andre somehow clenched his jaw more; Marie side-eyed her; and Jordan’s glare almost made me feel bad too. I tried to relax my shoulders and forced myself to listen.
“I know that no one trusts me right now but, I am the only one with a direct line to Indira,” Cate said. “Please, just let me try.”
“How do we know you won’t turn on us again?” Andre asked.
“I won’t, I promise,” Cate insisted.
“Yeah, well, your promises don’t mean shit to me right now,” Andre hissed.
“I agree with Andre; after this, anything’s possible,” Emma said.
Cate hesitated and turned to me. “Y/N, please, you know me. I may have messed up but I wouldn’t do it twice.”
A part of me wanted to believe her, really, but the other part was the giant gaping wound of being manipulated so badly that I had no powers. My stomach sunk when I looked at her and I suddenly felt nauseous.
I hugged my arms tightly around my waist. “I don’t know, Cate. I want to trust you again, but it’s difficult.”
Cate’s expression fell and I didn’t know if I wanted to comfort her or scream at her. Everything was so confusing and it didn’t help that I had this gnawing feeling that something else was going on; something that none of us knew.
Marie stepped forward to stand next to Cate. “I think this could be a good first step for you to start earning our trust, but I don’t blame Y/N for feeling how she feels.”
“Same here,” Jordan agreed.
I smiled at their words and had to fight to keep myself from crying even more.
After some deliberation, we decided that Cate, Andre, Marie, Jordan, and I would focus on getting Shetty to expose her plot while Emma helped Sam hide from Vought or Shetty or whoever he’d upset.
That decision led me to leaning against the wall in a booth at an off-campus diner. It was fairly quiet, save for the handful of families laughing with their kids and the game that was on the outdated TV perched on a corner stand. Even though there was a giant plate of fries and greasy burgers on the table, barely anyone ate. I couldn’t stop staring at Cate, who was on her phone in the front corner of the restaurant.
“Can anyone hear anything?” Andre asked.
“No,” Marie said.
“And she’s not even facing us so we can’t even try lip reading,” I muttered.
Marie turned to me. “You know how to lip read?”
“Yeah, every crim major does. It’s part of the body language class, I explained.
Marie nodded slowly. “This school is nuts.”
“We know,” Jordan muttered.
Finally, Cate hung up the phone and wandered back over to us. “I can’t see her yet; she’s in the city all morning.”
“What does that mean?” Jordan asked.
“I’ll have to wait at her house and get her to talk then,” Cate said.
Andre shook his head. “That’s too much time.”
“Did she sound different or suspicious of you?” Marie asked.
“No, she sounded fine. I’m sorry this isn’t turning out how we hoped.”
Based on her slumped shoulders, I guessed that Cate was telling the truth. The situation was both irritating and relieving since my list of questions for Shetty grew every minute and I was itching to ask them, but I was also thankful for a chance to gather my bearings. The thought of confronting her made me fidget since Shetty had helped me a lot.
How could someone be so kind and so hateful at the same time?
“…and stay out of our heads!”
Jordan’s exclamation jerked me from my thoughts, and I watched them shift to their male form and storm out of the diner. Andre ran his hand over his face and started messing with a straw while Cate looked down at her gloved hands.
“I’ll be back,” Marie muttered, slipping out of the booth and trailing after Jordan.
I blinked and turned back to Cate and Andre. “Sorry, what did I miss?”
“Jordan’s pissed because we have to wait at Shetty’s to get any info out of her and we’re on a timer pretty much,” Andre explained.
“This is all my fault,” Cate muttered.
Instead of answering, I dumped a handful of fries on my plate and started using them to make patterns in the ketchup between bites. When I bit into a burger, I almost moaned at the taste.
Either I was ravenous, or this place had decent food.
When I glanced back up, Cate and Andre stared at me.
I swallowed. “I got hungry.”
“You’re not gonna go after your…partners?” Andre asked.
I straightened up and continued munching on a fry. “We never labeled ourselves as anything and Marie’s got it.”
“Well, I’m glad the three of you have figured something out,” Cate offered.
“Thanks, but, I don’t know how much we have figured out.”
With everything going on, I never paused to think about how this relationship would work. In all honesty, I was shocked that I was able to tell Jordan and Marie how I felt and even more when both reciprocated. But I wondered what happened from here. How did we figure that out?
“It takes time,” Cate answered.
I snapped my eyes up to her. “Could you not probe my mind for a second?”
“Sorry, I can’t help it right now.”
Just as I was going to take another bite, my phone buzzed in my lap.
M: Come outside.
I quickly typed back, Omw.
“If I’m not back soon, just get a box for me.”
“Got you,” Andre said.
When I got outside, the chill made me wrap my cardigan tighter around me. Fortunately, Jordan and Marie were just around the corner and it was a short walk. Just as I got around the corner, the two were kissing. It only lasted a few seconds until Jordan pulled away, a smirk on his face, and I imagined Marie had a similar expression.
“What was that about my bad timing?” I called.
Marie turned at the sound of my voice and Jordan’s smirk deepened.
“Don’t be jealous,” he sang.
Funnily enough, I wasn’t jealous the first time I caught them; just shocked and confused. This time, watching them made me smile all over.
I rolled my eyes at Jordan’s words and sauntered over to them. “Please tell me you didn’t make Marie summon me in an attempt to make me jealous.”
“He didn’t make me do anything, but I thought you should be a part of this conversation,” Marie explained.
Then, Marie launched into hers and Jordan’s idea to break into Shetty’s office, find damning evidence of the Woods and the virus, and bring it to Victoria Neuman. The more she talked, the more the uneasiness set in.
“That town hall is happening today so it’s perfect timing,” Marie concluded.
Jordan looked at me expectantly and I glanced at the giant blue and red poster of the political candidate on the side of the building. Politicians had this strange fixation on looking hopeful, trustworthy, and powerful in all their photos. According to Coco, it was one of the most challenging parts of the field. No matter what any politician did, it all seemed fake to me. Maybe it was because I could see what they would really do if they were elected.
Even though I couldn’t use my powers, something about Victoria Neuman seemed off to me.
“Say it, freshie,” Jordan encouraged gently.
“In theory, I think it’s a good idea to get this information to someone with massive influence,” I started.
“But,” Marie said.
“But I have a weird feeling about her, actually, I’ve been having a weird feeling all day now,” I admitted.
“This is our best shot to expose Shetty right now,” Marie argued.
I nodded. “And I’m not saying not to take it. I’m saying I’m not sure how it’ll play out.”
“Is this about your powers?” Jordan asked.
“No, sort of, anyway, like I said, if you want to go rogue, do it.”
“You’d be coming with us too.” Marie reached a hand towards me, and I unfolded my arms to let her play with my fingers.
I sighed. “But I don’t know how helpful I’ll be.”
“This is gonna sound cheesy as hell, but you don’t need your powers to be helpful. You figured out that Cate manipulated you twice and you figured out that their goal in the Woods is to create a virus against supes. And you did all that without your powers,” Jordan pointed out.
“You’re amazing, Y/N,” Marie added.
I smiled and flipped my braids over my shoulder. “If you say so.”
Marie shook her head and Jordan grabbed my other hand.
“So, this may not be the best time to ask but are we…”
“You’re my girlfriend,” Jordan answered.
“Our girlfriend,” Marie corrected.
“She asked me out first.”
“No, I didn’t. I told you I liked you first,” I argued.
Jordan shrugged. “Same thing.”
Marie swatted Jordan’s arm with her free hand. “This relationship isn’t a competition.”
“Said the sore loser.”
Just as they were about to start bickering, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I let go of Jordan’s hand to grab it, ignored his feigned insulted gasp, and swiped through it. Sydney had texted Sasha, Alina, Lydia, and me in our group text.
S:911. Meeting in an hour.
“As much as I would love to continue this, I have to go to Si Chi,” I said, slipping my phone back in my pocket.
“Really? Now?” Jordan asked.
“Emergency meeting and I need time to get ready. I’ll text you both later.”
When I moved to hug Marie, she pecked my lips instead and I flinched. She smiled mischievously and I blinked at her.
“And I thought you were this shy, sweet freshman,” I muttered.
“I learn quickly,” she teased.
I shook my head and turned to Jordan, who immediately pressed his lips against mine, hands roaming all over my back. I was in a daze as he moaned but when one of his hands squeezed my butt, I yelped and jumped away.
“Jordan!” I rasped.
Even though Jordan apologized, he did not look sorry at all. As I sauntered off to get an Uber, I couldn’t help but wonder what I had gotten myself into but couldn’t deny the buzz of excitement at the thought.
Exactly fifty-five minutes later, I sat in the large conference room in Si Chi, freshly showered and made up. The cherry red Ralph Lauren tennis mini dress and white Chanel platforms paired with my braids swept up in a messy bun made me feel exposed but pretty. A minute later, Alina and Lydia waltzed in together. Alina’s hair was in a low bun with pieces framing her face and her black long-sleeved Naked Wardrobe skirt set flowed around her with each step. Lydia wore a deep plum Givenchy blazer over a white Oxford and dark Levi’s, her deep auburn hair fell around her shoulders in soft curls.
Immediately, Lydia took a seat across from me while Alina took a seat on my right.
“Hi, Lydia, Alina,” I greeted.
“Hi, Y/N,” Lydia chirped.
“Hi,” Alina said.
As soon as they sat, Sydney breezed in, her knit white DKNY dress catching the light as well as her diamond studs. She pushed a wavy strawberry blonde tendril out of her face as she took a seat at the head of the table and set her canvas Marc Jacobs tote on the glossy table.
“Hello, girls,” Sydney said.
“Hello, Sydney.”
Our unified voices sent a chill down my spine.
Finally, Sasha burst in, sweat coating her forehead as she quickly took the seat next to Lydia and adjusted her deep green wrap dress. “Sorry, there was a big crowd because of the rally.”
“It’s okay, Sasha. Just remember to factor in big events when you’re commuting for other meetings,” Sydney advised evenly.
Sasha seemed to gulp and nodded.
“That leads me to the topic of this emergency meeting. I know that the town hall on campus is going to be packed and it’s been a hot topic for weeks since it was announced. This morning, all the Greek presidents met and determined that each house will decide their own policy for attendance,” Sydney explained. “I’ve debated this for a while. Our high standards and reputation attract ambitious women and plenty of them will want to attend the town hall. However, I am also concerned about the safety of this event since there is so much opposition on both sides.”
Sydney paused.
“That is why I believe that no Si Chi girl should attend the event,” Sydney stated.
Even though she worded it softly, Sydney was forbidding all of us from attending. If anyone was caught, that would mean an automatic exit from the house.
“It’s especially important for us as leadership to be role models for the initiates. We must choose our events wisely and we don’t want any of them risking anything because of their ideologies or to try to go viral,” Sydney explained.
“It makes sense. Those pro-supes are rowdy,” Lydia agreed.
And ignorant, I thought.
“I’m all for supe rights but I don’t want to be caught in a riot,” Alina added.
“How do we communicate this to the other girls?” Sasha asked.
“Y/N can send something out in the house Discord.” Sydney smiled at me. “You know how to make it tasteful but authoritative.”
As much as I appreciated the compliment, I couldn’t stop thinking of how to persuade her. If I had my powers, this would be nothing but the only thing I had was my wits. The more I thought, the more I was concerned that my wits abandoned me.
“Well, that’s it unless anyone has something to add?” Sydney prompted.
Finally, I had something.
“Yes. I agree that everyone’s safety is important, but I don’t think we’ve thought about the political science majors. Their professors will be all over this and more and more of them want first-hand footage. I think discouraging everyone will put them at a real disadvantage,” I said.
My heart pounded in my ears as I watched the gears turn in Sydney’s head. It wasn’t my best work but it might have made a difference.
“It’s a shame but, they’ll have to figure something else out,” Sydney said.
“Well---”
“Have that done in thirty, okay?”
Sydney’s words were light but her eyes were so intense that my words stopped in my head. I nodded and she dismissed everyone. Sasha grinned widely at me as she stood and walked out.
“I guess your friend will have to figure something else out. With it being junior year and all, it’s even more important that she doesn’t fail anything,” Sasha said.
“Her name is Coco and even though this is an inconvenience she’ll figure something out.”
As confident as I was in Coco, I had no idea what I was going to do. Surprisingly, writing up the Discord message was easy, even though plenty of the girls were upset, it was a simple fix of, “If you’re disappointed, Sydney is more than happy to answer your questions.” However, I wasn’t sure how I was going to tell Jordan and Marie that I couldn’t help them get the information to Neuman.
Of course, the time we set to meet up outside of Shetty’s office arrived too soon and I found myself pacing down the hall, filled with dread the closer I got to Shetty’s office. When I arrived, the door was already open and my heart lurched into my throat.
Oh no, we’ve been caught, this won’t work, I panicked.
Then, I forced myself to take a deep breath and crept closer to the door. It took five more deep breaths for me to get the courage to peek around the corner. At first glance, Shetty’s office looked like it normally did: peaceful but professional. Her space was light and airy with the perfect amount of light from the sun seeping through the windows. However, when I looked closer, there were papers sprawled over her desk, something that she would never stand for.
Just as I started to creep in, Jordan popped up from behind the desk and cursed loudly when she saw me.
“You could have said something, freshie!” Jordan admonished, one hand pressed to her chest and another holding a file.
“Well, I didn’t know who was in here!” I defended, wandering further in. “You should have closed the doors behind you.”
Jordan smirked. “You say that like I’m not the one who taught you how to sneak into places. I would have just told whoever that Shetty needed me to find something.”
“Technically, you all contributed to teaching me that but okay.”
Then, I turned back towards the doors to start closing them when Marie slipped in. We nearly collided but I took a half step back.
“Shit, sorry!” Marie exclaimed.
“It’s fine, I guess it’s my karma.”
I let her slip past me and made sure the doors were secured behind us before joining her and Jordan at Shetty’s desk.
“Have you found anything yet?” Marie asked.
“No, just different files on different kids.”
I perked up. “Like the ones she checks in with?”
“I think so. I didn’t read any because that felt wrong.” Jordan paused. “And don’t go looking for your file; you need to be focused.”
“Fine,” I groaned playfully.
We decided it would be best for Jordan and me to go through Shetty’s physical files while Marie searched her computer. As I skimmed the documents, my brain circled around how I would tell them that I couldn’t go to the town hall. There was no great way to say, “Hey, I can’t help you expose a major conspiracy because my house president said ‘no’ and if I disobey, I’ll be ostracized.” I would find better words but that’s what it all boiled down to.
If only Si Chi and rankings didn’t matter so much.
Then, I paused at a newspaper clipping I found. It was from that plane crash a couple of years back, the one that Queen Maeve and Homelander failed to save. The thought of all those people dying made my stomach churn. As I kept reading, my stomach settled a little and I felt myself buzzing.
“Look.” I set the file down on Shetty’s desk and Jordan stepped closer and Marie swiveled in her chair.
“It’s from that plane crash,” Marie observed.
“Why would Shetty have a file on this?” Jordan asked.
“Because of this.” I flipped through the documents and pointed out the passenger list. “It’s right in the middle.”
After a few seconds of reading, both their eyes widened.
“Holy shit,” Jordan breathed.
“Her kid and her husband were on that plane; that’s why she hates all supes, it makes total sense,” Marie said.
“It’s only motive but, it might be useful for Neuman. But no one’s found anything on the Woods?” I asked.
Marie and Jordan shook their heads.
“Great, this couldn’t get worse,” Marie muttered.
Immediately, Shetty’s office door handle started jiggling and our eyes snapped to it.
“I thought you locked the door,” Jordan hissed.
“No, it would have been suspicious if the door was locked,” I whispered back.
“We don’t have time for this. Hide whatever you can.”
Frantically, we shoved the unimportant files in random drawers, and I kept the one about the plane crash under my denim jacket. Just when the door pushed open, someone dragged me down and I found myself sandwiched between Jordan and Marie underneath Shetty’s desk. It was a tight squeeze, and I didn’t think that I could move if I tried but, I was more focused on keeping my breathing even as someone entered the office.
“Nice digs. I guess this is what you get for screwing over everyone,” a masculine voice drawled.
“That’s Cardoza,” Jordan mouthed.
My eyes widened and I could feel my heart rate pick up. For a few seconds, I couldn’t focus on any of my surroundings, and I couldn’t hear anything either. This shouldn’t have been happening, I took my medicine, I knew I did.
Just breathe, Y/N, and use your exercise.
I see three of Jordan’s rings, I smell Marie’s hair oil, I feel really warm, and----
My thoughts were cut off by Marie grabbing my shoulders and muttering, “It’s okay.”
In the next few seconds, my heart rate slowed down, and I breathed a lot easier. I would have turned to thank her if it would have blown our cover.
For the next minute, Dr. Cardoza ranted about how his medical prowess was misused and how no one was supposed to get hurt.
“It was all for science! But screw science and me, right?” he bellowed.
Then, he got quiet for a second, but it was quickly filled by the sound of something trickling. Since she was in the most convenient position, Jordan poked her head out from her hiding spot only to immediately retract it and shake her head.
I hated where my imagination went.
Finally, the sound stopped, and the man groaned. “Here’s your precious data.”
Something plopped onto the desk, and we all perked up. As soon as the door slammed behind him, we rushed out from our hiding spot. Marie grabbed the USB that Dr. Cardoza dropped and plugged it into the computer. In seconds, we had everything that could expose Dean Shetty and the Woods. Some of the details made me wretch and some things did not need visuals but had them.
It was perfect ammunition.
“Wow,” Marie said.
“How long were they doing all this?” Jordan muttered.
I shook my head, grabbed the file from my jacket, and took pictures of the important parts. “I don’t know if I want to know at this point.”
After Marie grabbed the USB and we put everything else back to normal, we got out of that office as quickly as we could. While we walked down the hallway, my thumbs flew across my phone screen.
“I just sent the pictures to you both,” I said.
“Why? Are you afraid you’ll accidentally delete it?” Marie asked.
Okay, here it goes.
“I can’t go to the town hall,” I confessed.
“Are you scared? No one’s going to do anything, they’re all talk,” Jordan said. “And I wouldn’t let them touch you.”
“Neither would I,” Marie affirmed.
“I appreciate that but, it’s not out of fear. Si Chi girls can’t attend; president’s orders.”
They stopped walking at the same time, and I lagged a little, dreading facing them. At first, they both looked stunned then Jordan looked like she would strangle someone, and Marie was confused.
“That’s bullshit,” Jordan hissed.
“Yeah, they can’t tell you where you can and can’t go,” Marie agreed.
I shifted my weight from foot to foot. “Well, they sort of can. If I go, it’s immediate expulsion from the sorority.”
“But this is important. They have to make an exception,” Marie offered.
“I couldn’t tell them about this. Sydney would get an ulcer at the thought of breaking into the dean’s office and going through private files,” I argued. “Plus, if I told them about any of this, they’d think I’m a crazy conspiracy theorist.”
“This isn’t a conspiracy or a theory; they did this shit and no one did anything about it,” Jordan insisted.
I huffed. “I know that, Jordan, but I also know these girls and they don’t like to leave their comfort zones. Even though Sydney is one of the more progressive presidents, she still has to maintain the standards.”
“Even if it includes covering up Shetty’s plan to make everyone sick?”
I hesitated. “I…I’m not sure.”
Marie groaned. “Come on, Y/N, you don’t have to do every little thing they say. You’re high up in the house, doesn’t that mean anything?”
“Yes, it means more status and respect but also more eyes, so I’m almost double forbidden from going.” I sighed. “I’m sorry but, this is as far as I can go. Text or video call me if you need anything.”
The moment I turned on my heel and started walking away, I understood what a kicked puppy must feel like. I only made it a few steps before both grabbed one of my wrists.
“Stop running,” Jordan said.
“I’m not running,” I argued.
“Bullshit, this whole thing is,” she challenged.
I paused and narrowed my eyes at Jordan. “It might be to you but it’s very important to me. It always has been.”
When I pulled at her hand, Jordan let me go and I turned to Marie, but her expression hardened.
“You don’t have to do this,” she insisted.
I scoffed. “Yes, I do. Vought already gave you their stamp of approval, so you’re set. I have to play it smart, and I can’t do anything to lose Si Chi right now.”
“That’s not fair, Y/N,” Marie said.
“It’s the truth, though. I’m on thin ice with not being able to use my powers and I can’t mess up anything else!”
Jordan stepped closer to me. “The Woods is bigger than anything at this school. Screw rankings, Si Chi, and GOD U. Shetty wants us all dead and you have a chance to stop her. You have a chance to be a hero.”
They were right, this was a fantastic opportunity to help people and make GOD U a better place. We had no idea how many kids were still trapped down there or what they were experiencing. This plot needed to be exposed and everyone needed to be held accountable. At any other time, I would have jumped at the chance to help but I couldn’t.
If only Sydney hadn’t given that order.
I wanted the ground to swallow me up and take me somewhere far away from the two pairs of deep brown eyes that bored into me. I also wanted Marie and Jordan to stop looking at me with such intensity; it just made everything harder.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered.
“You’re not the only one risking your ranking here, you know. I don’t get why you insist on doing all this shit after everything,” Jordan spat.
I flinched at her tone and swallowed thickly. I knew she was referring to my family and how awful they were. The worst part was I didn’t know why I was like this either.
How could I have made so much progress just to end up back where I was?
Just a few hours ago, I was giggly about having a new girlfriend and partner. Before my meeting at Si Chi, I even made spreadsheets of some dates we could have and gift ideas for holidays and birthdays.
Seeing them both look at me with such hurt in their eyes almost broke me and I wanted to forget about the smug expression on Sasha’s face and Sydney’s tone. But, I just couldn’t.

Surprisingly, there were no nightmares for the rest of the night. In fact, your sleep was uninterrupted until you woke up to the sound of the birds chirping, the warm sunlight spilling through the curtains. You heaved a sigh as you sat up in the bed, then stretched out, the knock on the door making you turn your head.
“Yes?”
The door opened and Paula stepped inside, then walked across the room to open the curtains.
“Good morning ma’am,” she said. “Did you sleep well?”
“Better than usual,” you said. “Is it breakfast time?”
“It is,” she said. “Mr. Bridgerton is already awake.”
You tilted your head. “Is he?”
“Yes, he was in the breakfast room when I saw him,” she said, pulling a gown out of your wardrobe. “This one for the day?”
You thought for a moment, then smiled.
“Yes thank you.”
It took you around half an hour to get ready, and you made your way down the hall to get to the breakfast room. As Paula had told you, Benedict was already there pacing in the room and he turned as soon as he saw you.
“Y/N.”
“Good morning,” you said, taking your seat and he stepped closer.
“Are you alright?”
“Why would I not be alright?” you asked, then looked up at the footman filling your teacup. “Thank you.”
“Ma’am.”
“Did you eat?”  you asked Benedict and he shook his head.
“No— that’s not important,” he said and stole a look at the footmen. “Can we have the room?”
They walked out of the room immediately, and you grabbed a piece of toast while he took the seat near yours.
“Tell me what you need,” he said and you shrugged your shoulders.
“I mean I was going to say olive bread but I have it right here.”
“Y/N.”
You rolled your eyes and shot him a light hearted glare. “Benedict.”
“Does your wrist hurt?”
“I didn’t tell you all that just so that you could look at me with worry in your eyes as if I’m going to break down any moment,” you deadpanned, ripping the edge of the toast to pop it in your mouth. “And as I’ve said last night, I’m fine. Josie had it worse than I did—”
“It’s not a competition.”
You paused for a moment, then shrugged your shoulders.
“Either way,” you said. “If you’re going to be like this at tonight’s dinner, I’ll skip it entirely and you’ll have to watch Anthony and Lottie be in love all by yourself.”
“Y/N.”
“I’ll say I passed out, you can’t say it wouldn’t be belie—”
“Where is he now?” he cut you off impatiently, that fire burning in his blue eyes and you averted your gaze for a moment, then grabbed your cup to take a sip of your tea.
“Away.”
“But where?”
“I’m not telling you anything when you look like you’re going to find him to challenge him to a duel.”
“Duels are a matter of honor,” he said. “He has none. Trust me, I have other things in mind for him, had a couple of ideas last night.”
You tilted your head. “You didn’t sleep last night?”
“That’s not important,” he said. “Where is he?”
“I can’t believe I’m saying this but you can’t kill my father.”
“Breaking every bone in his body doesn’t count as killing him,” he paused for a moment. “Although, the idea is tempting—”
“Benedict,” you said and he let out a bitter laugh.
“He deserves it.”
You heaved a sigh and turned to look at him better, reaching out to place your hand over his on the table.
“You know it better than everyone by now that I’m not the forgiving type,” you said. “But any contact with him is way more than what he deserves.”
He gritted his teeth, still deep in thought. “He needs to pay for what he did.”
“He needs to be forgotten actually,” you pointed out. “I’m not going to spare that prick any thought, neither should you.”
Your name left his lips in an exasperated sigh.
“You’re my wife,” he reminded you, making your heart skip a beat. “I love you, I can’t just let that—”
“Benedict, I’ve quite gotten used to you being around,” you cut him off, your cheeks burning. “So stop trying to find a way to not be around, like murder or maiming.”
“But—”
“He is miserable, and he’s going to stay and die miserable in that hellhole,” you insisted. “I promise you, he’s not even worth your anger, he’s nothing.”
He turned his hand under yours and lifted it to press a chaste kiss on your hand, his thumb caressing your wrist as he pulled back. For a moment you felt as if he could hear your heartbeat because of how fast it was, and a smile warmed your lips, that familiar fluttering appearing in your stomach once more.
“So,” you said. “Onto more pressing matters. Tonight’s dinner?”
He thought for a moment, then made a face.
“I just…” he trailed off, running a hand over his eyes. “Can we skip that?”
“Can we skip the dinner your mother is throwing to celebrate your best friend and your brother’s courtship?” you asked. “No. No we cannot.”
“You had a good idea there, if we said you passed out—”
“I was going to do that for my own benefit, not yours,” you said. “So no.”
“We’re married!”
“So?”
“So you’re supposed to be on my side,” he insisted and you clicked your tongue.
“Debatable,” you pointed out, trying to keep a straight face. “There are a bunch of married couples who stab each other in the back.”
“Like you, Brutus?”
“Kind of but look on the bright side,” you said. “At least I’m doing it to your face.”
“Oh much appreciated,” he said with a grin and you let a smile warm your face, then shrugged your shoulders.
“Of course,” you said as you took your tea cup to your lips. “I’m nothing if not considerate.”
                                            *
Charlotte’s family was quite crowded and you knew it but all of them and the Bridgertons together in a room equaled absolute chaos. Lord and Lady Harlowe were very sweet, and you’d had the chance to have a small conversation with them before making your way to sit beside Eloise on the sofa.
“Well you look glum.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m delighted,” she said with a scowl on her face and you tilted your head, then stole a look at Charlotte who was talking to Daphne and Anthony. Colin and Benedict were already in a conversation by the corner of the room while the children ran around, Lady Bridgerton telling them to be careful. You reached out to touch her arm, then nodded at the door.
“Come on.”
“What?”
“Come on,” you said. “There’s still some time for dinner and you look like you’re in a need of some peace and quiet. Let’s go outside, they can call us in when the dinner is ready.”
“You don’t want to spend your time giving loving glances to your beloved, just like the rest of the people in this room?”
“My beloved is still not totally alright with the idea of Anthony and Charlotte, so I think I’ll leave him be,” you said and stood up. “He can handle himself. Let’s go.”
She huffed out but followed you out of the room and you both made your way downstairs, then stepped out of the house to go sit on the swings in the backyard. She looked behind her to make sure no one was watching you two, then turned to you.
“Will you tell my mother if I smoke?”
“Do I look like a person who tells people things?”
She scoffed a laugh, then took out a cigarette package to offer it to you, but you shook your head.
“No thank you.”
She put one between her lips, then lit it and exhaled the smoke.
“Don’t get me wrong,” she said. “I’m happy for Lottie and Anthony. I’ve spent my whole life thinking she would be a part of our family, just…”
“Through a different brother?” you asked and she let out a small laugh.
“Does it bother you?”
“No,” you said, shaking your head. “Not at all.”
“As it shouldn’t. I mean we didn’t know Anthony and Lottie were in love obviously, and her and Benedict were close friends so we assumed…”
“You and the rest of the ton,” you said. “And me for a while.”
“You thought they were courting?”
“Both Lottie and Benedict said they weren’t, on different occasions,” you said. “I would have taken myself out of that picture immediately if they were, trust me.”
She nodded slowly.
“So it’s not a matter of her being a part of your family,” you said. “What is it then?”
She thought for a moment, then shook her head.
“I was supposed to have more time,” she said through her teeth, making you frown. “This whole season—first Benedict got married, now Daphne is getting married, Anthony will certainly marry Lottie within the season and…I’m next.”
“Not Colin?”
“Have you seen him around Marina?” she asked. “And it doesn’t matter. If it’s not her it’ll be someone else. I was supposed to have years and years and now it’s…it’s at my door.”
Oh that feeling was quite familiar.
You pressed your lips together, curling your fingers around the rope of the swing.
“And before you tell me what a bliss love and marriage are—”
“I’m not going to say that,” you said. “Or any of that nonsense.”
She turned to look at you better, a look of disbelief flashing over her face.
“I’m just going to ask you something,” you said. “And do correct me if I’m wrong because I’ve only been here for a little time but…your family doesn’t strike me as people to push you into a marriage you don’t want, am I wrong?”
She shook her head again.
“They wouldn’t do that,” she said. “But it doesn’t matter. They all want me to fall in love and get married.”
“I think they want you to be happy,” you said. “They just think falling in love and getting married is the only way of doing so, but considering your family and status, you do have the luxury of choosing your own path to happiness if you wish.”
She blinked a couple of times.
“And you are not going to wax poetic about how marriage is the best thing in the world?”
You scoffed a laugh. “That would be quite hypocritical of me, considering I spent my whole life hating the idea of marriage.”
She stared at you. “Really?”
“Oh yeah,” you said. “It was merely a threat for me, Damocles’ sword hanging over my head. The idea never held much of a promise.”
“It’s a nightmare for me.”
“I don’t blame you,” you pointed out. “But it’s a nightmare you won’t have to go through if you don’t wish to. Your family loves you too much to put you through anything you don’t want.”
“And when I debut next year?”
“I’ll teach you how to intimidate your suitors with a glare,” you said, making her let out a giggle. “I’m quite good at it.”
“Mm hm, I heard. The Ice Queen.”
“I’ll hand over the crown to you,” you joked and she licked her lips.
“So you changed your mind but you’re not going to give me that speech about…”
“How you’ll also change your mind once you are in love and all that nonsense?” you finished her question for her. “Think of love like catching cold, alright? Yes it could happen to anyone, but you could take some precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen to you.”
She stared at you before a laughter escaped from her lips. “You have the heart of a poet.”
“That’s so rude of you,” you deadpanned, then shot her a grin. “I understand why you’re worried, but I can assure you, nothing you don’t want will ever happen to you. Not with the family you have.”
She offered you a small smile and took a drag of her cigarette again before throwing the cigarette butt on the ground to step on it.
“And you and Benedict?” she asked. “How come you fell in love if you took precautions?”
You bit down on your lip, deep in thought.
“We just…” you trailed off and took a deep breath. “He took me by surprise.”
She shot you a look. “Easy as that?”
You nodded your head, running your nail over the rope of the swing.
“Yeah,” you muttered. “Contrary to what people seem to believe, it doesn’t have to be complicated all the time.”
“Ladies,” you heard a familiar voice that sent a warmth through your chest, and looked over your shoulder to see Benedict.
“Brother,” Eloise said. “Mama sent you?”
“I volunteered,” he said. “I figured you wouldn’t want her to see you smoke. Dinner is ready.”
Eloise heaved a sigh and stood up from the swing.
“Let’s celebrate people being in love,” she grumbled in a dramatic manner and made her way to the house with you following her. Benedict squeezed her shoulder in an assuring manner as she walked past him, and you winked at him.
“Are you going to be okay, tortured artist?”
“Ask me again at the end of tonight,” he muttered and you let out a laugh, then stepped back into the house.
                                            *
The dinner was developing quite similarly to what your and Benedict’s engagement dinner was like. Everyone was happy, Anthony and Charlotte looked like they were barely aware of anyone else in the room, Lady Bridgerton, Lady Harlowe and Lord Harlowe in a deep conversation before Lord Harlowe turned to the couple.
“I did have a feeling,” he said, motioning at them and Charlotte’s jaw dropped.
“Did you papa?”
“Mm hm. For both of you.”
“Wait, me too?” Anthony asked and Lady Harlowe chuckled.
“You weren’t exactly subtle, Anthony.”
Anthony grinned and reached out to hold Charlotte’s hand over the table, making Benedict shake his head slightly.
“He was I think!” Lottie said. “I didn’t know about his feelings, and I thought he wouldn’t share mine.”
“How could I not, my love?” Anthony said and Benedict pinched the bridge of his nose.
“I will stab myself with this fork I swear to God…”
“Benny!”
“Stop it Benedict,” Daphne said. “I for one am glad Anthony has found love. It’s the most precious thing in the world after all.”
“You know,” you said. “Living with Benedict, I thought I developed an immunity for how strange people in love sound most of the time, but apparently not.”
Colin shot you a confused look. “You’re in love with Benedict.”
“Never remind me that ever again,” you deadpanned, making Benedict pat your arm as if trying to console you.
“Benny, you must be happy for me,” Lottie said. “The love of my life loves me back—”
“Charlie, I’m begging you not to call my brother that.”
“Benedict, I had to put up with those endless goddamn speeches of yours when you fell in love with your wife, did you forget about that? You once talked about how beautiful she is for over thirty minutes, and I know that because Colin was timing it.”
You tried to repress your smile and Colin nodded.
“Thirty-five minutes, to be exact.”
“And also, what am I supposed to call the love of my life, Benny?” Lottie asked and Benedict shrugged his shoulders.
“Acquaintance?”
“Jesus Christ,” you muttered. “See Benedict, this is exactly why people thought you two were in a courtship and no one except Lord and Lady Harlowe knew they were in love.”
“We weren’t—”
“Oh Y/N, please don’t think—”
“No no,” you waved your hands as a chorus of disagreement rose from the table. “Don’t worry about it, I know. Trust me, this” you motioned at Benedict. “Would have been so much easier to understand if there was a courtship, just saying.”
“But there wasn’t, because I have been completely in love with Tony for years,” Lottie chirped and Anthony smiled at her fondly before leaning in to mutter something into her ear, making her giggle.
“Are you excited for your wedding, Daphne?” Lady Harlowe asked and she nodded.
“I am, Lady Harlowe,” she said. “And you are coming to the breakfast surely?”
“Oh we are, we wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
“I might,” Eloise muttered and Lady Bridgerton gasped.
“Eloise!”
“What? It’s a possibility mama, who knows what might happen that day?”
“We will remind you of this when it’s your wedding breakfast dear,” Lady Harlowe said and you grinned at Eloise.
“I think Eloise will follow my lead when it comes to suitors once she debuts,” you said and Benedict tilted his head.
“Scaring the soul out of all of them?”
You nodded and Lord Harlowe chuckled before pointing between you two.
“All but one, apparently.”
You stole a look at Benedict, mirroring his smile and raised your glass slightly.
“Yeah,” you said. “All but one.”
                                                  *
The rest of the dinner went perfectly well and when you and Benedict returned home, the weather was still quite lovely, the sound of crickets and the water fountain reaching your ears, the warm wind caressing your skin. Benedict hid his yawn behind his hand as you looked up at the marble stairs leading up to the front door of the house, then turned to him.
“Tired?”
“Just a little,” he muttered. “I didn’t sleep last night, so…”
You paused for a moment.
“Right,” you said. “Of course. You must get some rest.”
“And you?”
“I think I’ll enjoy the fresh air some more before going to sleep,” you said. “It’s such a nice night.”
“Do you want some company?”
“Perhaps another night because I must insist that you go to sleep,” you said with a laugh. “Really. You look like you’re about to pass out and in case you forgot, that’s my thing.”
He chuckled, nodding his head before yawning again.
“Alright,” he said. “Good night then.”
“Good night,” you said and watched him climb the stairs before taking a deep breath. “And Benedict?”
He turned around to look at you. “Yes?”
“You know they will be happy together right?” you asked. “Anthony and Lottie?”
He smiled softly.
“Oh I know,” he said. “They’re so in love, I can’t believe I didn’t see that before.”
“I can’t believe that either,” you pointed out. “But you might want to tell Lottie you’re happy for them.”
Benedict grinned and nodded his head again.
“I did,” he said. “Right before we left. She knows.”
“Good.”
“I might take my time to tell Anthony though.”
“I’m behind that decision one hundred percent,” you said and he let out a laugh.
“I knew you would,” he said. “Sweet dreams.”
“You too,” you said and he walked into the house, leaving you in the garden. You heaved a sigh, then started making your way through the garden, enjoying the beautiful sight.
After passing by the roses, you leaned in to inhale the pleasant scent of sweet pea flowers, closing your eyes for a moment before opening them again. You ran your palm over them, looking down to see them better but as soon as you did, a four-leaf clover on the flower bed sticking out of the soil caught your eye, making you let out a chuckle.
“Well hello there,” you muttered as you reached down to rip it, then went back into the house.
You climbed up the stairs, but as soon as you reached the door to your room you paused, stealing a look at Benedict’s closed door. You nibbled on your lip, then threw your shoulders back and passed through the hallway to get to the door of his studio. It was dark aside from the moonlight spilling through the window and you stepped inside, careful not to bump into anything before approaching the small table which had his palette and a couple of his paints. You took a deep breath, then put the four-leaf clover on the table, stepping back to see it better, then frowned and stepped forward to put it on the palette, nodding to yourself once you were convinced it looked good.
A smile warmed your face and you bit on your nail, and left the studio to rush to your bedroom as if he could see you. You pressed a hand over your chest as you entered your room, then discarded your clothes as quickly as you could before you flung yourself on the bed to pull the pillow to your chest, a giddy giggle escaping from your lips.

"hey, peaches," your boyfriend greeted you when he saw you sitting on the couch. it was one in the afternoon and he was just waking up.
"hey," you said back, not looking up from your laptop. "how did you sleep?"
he grumbled a little as he shuffled over to you. you glanced to your right when you felt the couch dip next to you. then you felt him wrap his arms around your waist and snuggle his face into your side.
"i would've slept better with you there," he said slyly. you scoffed and shook your head. you reached down and ran your hand through his hair lightly massaging his scalp. then you went back to typing on your laptop.
"im sorry, i have to work during the day," you say playfully, feeling his breathing through your shirt. "i cant just work when i want to."
"you can do anything you want," he responded, lifting your shirt slightly to place his hands on your skin. if he was being honest, he wasn't even sure of what he was saying. he just wanted to touch you.
"baby, im working," you tell him in a warning tone. he hummed in agreement, lifting your shirt more. when he saw the skin underneath slowly revealing itself, he started planting little kisses on it. "okay, thats enough baby."
he grunted and pulled away, looking up to pout at you. you glanced down at him, glaring at his before you sent the email you were typing up.
you sighed and opened up the email you were sent while typing the past one. groaning at the name of the sender. then groaning again by the subject line: URGENT! NEEDS IMMEDIATE APPROVAL
as you read the email, you rolled your eyes. 'sorry yn, this isnt urgent but-'
you shut your laptop harshly and set it aside, rubbing at your eyes tiredly. your boyfriend just looked up at you with concerned puppydog eyes. you threw your head back and sighed.
you looked down when you felt him poke your stomach softly. "what was that?"
"nothing," you sigh. "im gonna go get water."
he peels himself away from you and watches you walk into the kitchen to get yourself water. he scoots to the other end of the couch and rests his head on the arm rest. he closes his eyes and waits for to get back.
as you drink your water, you notice how his shirt rode up slighty. it revealed the patch of hair leading down past the elastic of his boxers. his arms resting behind his head, flexing slightly.
you set down your empty glass and walked over to the couch. you slowly crawled over your boyfriend and sitting right over his crotch. he peeked up at you with one eye and without a second thought, set his hands on your hips.
"so now you have time for me?" he asked smugly, smirking as he kept his eyes closed. the content look on his face making your roll your eyes.
then you lean down and softly kiss his lips, taking him by surpise. but he moaned softly and gladly accepted it. he then slipped his hands under the waistband of the sleep shorts you didnt bother changing out of when you woke up.
he pulled away for a moment, "take these off for me, peaches?"
you nodded and got off him, slipping off your shorts and panties easily. he did the same, taking off his boxers and bringing you back to him quickly. when you were over him, you positioned yourself right over his hardening shaft and slowly began grinding down on him.
you leaned down again, kissing him softly as you kept your hips at a slow pace. he squeezed your hips and thighs, throbbing between your legs. he lost his mind when the sound of you two grinding bare against eachother started getting louder and louder. you would also let out a particularly heavy breath every time your clit caught on his tip.
when he couldnt take it anymore, he pulled away and lined himself up with your soaked entrance. "youre so wet, peach," he said as he let you sink down on him slowly. he threw his head back and you sighed as you felt him fill you up slowly.
"fuck..." you moan out fully sat on his lap again. then, you started grinding on him again. you kept the same pace as before, moaning when your clit dragged against him.
you leaned back down, desperately needing to feel his lips against yours. his hands traveled down to your ass, giving you a light smack. he groaned when you clenched around him in response.
he pulled away, making you bury your head in his neck. "better than answering emails. isn't it, peach?"
you rolled your eyes and started sucking on his neck. he groaned at the way you nibbled at his reddening skin. smacked your ass again, needing to feel you clench around him again.
you moaned at the way his right hand traveled between you two, starting to rub your clit. he used the hand on your hip to help you start bouncing on him.
"you close yet- fuck," he moaned. "you close peach?"
"mm-mm," you hummed, breathing heavily against his ear. he grunted, throwing his head back and trying his hardest to hold out cumming.
"fuck!" he cried out, moaning pathetically as he began shooting ropes of cum into you. you moaned when you felt it slowly start seeping out of you as you kept grinding on him, trying to reach your own high. "please, baby, cum for me?"
you moaned as you felt yourself fall over the edge, cumming all over his softening dick. he sighed happily, feeling how you involuntarily squeezed down on him.
"you never answered my question," he told you, smirking.
you hummed questioningly, trying to catch your breath. "what?"
"isn't this better than answering emails?"

Imagine The8 breaking up with you because he’s worried he can’t give you enough but him missing you
Tumblr media
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay? You know she’s going to be there don’t you?" Scoups asked and The8 struggled not to roll his eyes for two reasons. One, the idea he wouldn’t be aware that you were going to be here and two that it hurt less if Scoups just avoided saying your name. However he knew he was just being prickly so he nodded "yeah I figured she'd be performing...don’t worry it'll be fine.
The downside of dating a fellow idol was The8 ran into you all the time and as you were a part of the famous Mamamoo it made it practically impossible to avoid you. The8 was nervous all night waiting for your performance and when it started his eyes went to you straight away.
Your groups made their way through the crowd as planned interacting with idols. Wheein had a cute interaction with Twice, Solar with Red Velvet, Hwasa danced with an actress, Moonbyul got the thumbs up from BTS and the next table, your table, was...Seventeen.
Your eyes went straight to The8 with his bright red hair and you thought this must be some sick joke. Solar noticed and her eyes went wide she motioned for you to just dance in front of you them but there wasn’t really any room! The group seemed to sense your problem and Joshua made eye contact with you and nodded telling you it was okay. He moved over to make room and so you came to stand by him. When the camera spun around you sang while Joshua nodded along and the others all joined in. It was only 5 seconds but it felt like an eternity. Finally it was over and Hwasa grabbed your hand pulling you along.
Once you moved away The8 relaxed. Jeonghan patted Joshua on the back to say well done for being kind but The8 just felt terrible. He saw the terror on your face when you realised the table you’d gotten and he hated that. He didn’t want you to feel like you couldn’t be around his members, they knew you and liked you...plus he had no ill-will towards you really. Sure he still couldn’t listen to your music or look at you but he didn’t want you to be uncomfortable because of him. It was all his fault not yours.
You managed to get through the rest of your performance with no more ex-boyfriend mishaps and made it backstage. Solar grabbed you immediately and asked if you were okay. You nodded telling her you were fine and they all gave you space. You sat through the award show your mind only half there but finally it was the end. You were all lined up on stage and you noticed Seventeen immediately. The8 was on the opposite end to you which you were relieved about. You moved passed them and as you reached Joshua you lightly grabbed his arm "thank you so much for earlier". He smiled "no worries, well done on the great performance!". You thanked him and moved on unaware the whole thing was caught on camera. The next day The8 woke up to your name trending and he almost fell out of bed. Then he clicked on the tag and froze. It was all about you and Joshua. There was a clip from last night after the awards when you and Joshua were whispering to one another. It only lasted 10 seconds but you had a hand on his arm and everyone was going crazy. The8 knew you were probably just thanking Joshua for helping you, you were a good person like that but the fans were going crazy. They claimed it was obvious and had so many clips of the two of you "looking" at one another when in reality either you or The8 were always nearby. He knew he wasn’t with you anymore but he still found the idea of everyone shipping you with Joshua upsetting. He got up and got on with his day but when he saw Joshua, he did pause and had to remember it was just a rumour.  A few weeks later Seventeen went to an idol club after attending an award show. The8 wasn’t the nightclub type but Seventeen had won an award and he felt the members needed a celebration. The8 knew you were here in the club too but he also knew you wouldn’t come over to him so he was fine…or so he thought.
You were surprised to see The8 here of all places and of course he was the best-dressed person in the place. Your eyes went to him without meaning to and you hated how he still had this effect on you. You went to the bathroom to try and calm down a little but that was a bad idea. When you exited, you came around the corner and bumped straight into The8 himself. You both froze and apologised. "Sorry I should’ve been looking where I was going..." you said as he said "sorry I was going way too fast". Finally you both stopped and looked at one another before looking away again. It hurt to look at him and you just felt so pathetic. "Erm so how are you?” The8 asked. You looked at him, aware given that 2 months had passed you should probably be over him and moved on with your life. You should reply you were great and list all that had happened since you were apart but you didn’t want to. You weren’t over him and you just felt sad. "Oww you know..." you said awkwardly "what about you?". "I'm well thank you..." he said and you nodded "that's good". "Well I should go" you said awkwardly and The8 nodded "yes of course. Well i guess I'll see you around". You nodded "bye" and rushed off. The8 collapsed against the wall and put his head in his hands. You couldn’t even look at him and you’d practically run from him. He hated it.
His members soon worked out what happened and he was in a terrible mood all night so Hoshi and Scoups left early with him. They let him talk about how he was feeling and then Hoshi asked a very fair question. "Why did you two even break up?". The8 had never given them all a proper reason and even Scoups’ head bobbed up in interest. From their perspective everything had been going great, then The8 came home one day and announced you were over but never said more.
The8 sighed "it was complicated". Scoups nodded "well duh but what happened? You ended it right?". He nodded "we'd been struggling to see each other regularly. We’d planned to spend the summer together but then I got that opportunity to be a dance mentor". "Ahhh and Y/n told you not to go?" Hoshi asked. The8 shook his head "no she encouraged me to go. She said it was fine and we'd do our summer another time but we’d been saying that with so many things...with the Christmas we cancelled, when I missed her birthday, when the company suddenly pushed up my trip back home...i just felt like i couldn’t fully commit or give myself to her and i didn’t think it was fair. So I ended it".  Scoups and Hoshi paused "what did Y/n say?” Scoups asked. The8 sighed "she tried to fight it. She told me it didn’t matter how busy we were, we’d find a way and that she didn’t mind if the next time she saw me was in a week or 20 weeks just as long as there was a next time". Scoups nodded "wow". The8 nodded "but it wasn’t enough for me. I thought by breaking up with her I was being mature and doing the right thing but I'm not sure...I miss her so much and I still love her".
"Do you want our opinions or encouragement" Scoups asked. "Opinions" The8 replied and Hoshi frowned "I think if you love her then that’s all that matters". Scoups nodded "I agree. I get why you did what you did but I think you were trying to solve a problem that wasn’t there. Y/n wasn’t upset you were. It's hard dating like this but as Hoshi said if you love her then that's all that matters. You'll find a way". The8 sighed "see but she hates me now". "She doesn't hate you" Scoups said sharply. "She does, tonight at the club she couldn’t even look me in the eye and she practically ran from me. And she had every right...". "You were only doing what you thought was best, plus it takes a big person to admit you've changed your mind" Hoshi pointed out. Scoups nodded  "yeah Y/n will appreciate that and I think she doesn’t hate you she’s just sad. That’s what you can see in her eyes, not hate". "But nothing changed...what if I freak and hurt her again?". Scoups shook his head "you won’t because you're going to always remember how this feels right here right now without her. Plus we’ll be here to remind you too". The8 sighed "I need to think about this when I'm not drunk". "That’s probably a good idea" Scoups nodded.
The first thing The8 thought of when he woke up the next morning was you. He knew you liked to lie in after a late night so you’d likely be fast asleep right now. He thought about how after events the two of you would leave the club early and go home to watch a movie. He’d usually fall asleep first and wake up to find the movie still running, you fast asleep curled up beside him. He’d stop it and then jump back in the warmth beside you. It was one of his favourite memories but now he was here alone and missing you.
The8 had planned to have a shower and eat before doing something but he couldn’t wait any longer. So he abandoned his towel and sent the text.
"Hey can we talk?".
He waited anxiously by his phone for the first few minutes before walking away to get some food. When he came back and saw his phone notification light blinking he nearly dropped his cereal. Your text was there waiting for him.
"About what?".
He took a breath and typed his reply.
"It’ll be easier to tell you in person, please can I see you?".
It took you longer to respond this time but you finally did.
"Okay, I'm home all today".
The8 leapt up, he quickly texted back thanking you and told you he’d be over in an hour.
Meanwhile were panicking. Only an hour! You were laid in bed not in any state to see your ex. So you rushed to the bathroom and began prepping. You tried to imagine what The8 wanted to talk to you about but you could only think of one reason...he’d met someone else. That was the only thing that could make The8 sound so serious and it was so typical of him to do the “gentleman” thing and warn you about it. You wondered who his new partner was and were slightly bitter since he told you he couldn’t date because of his schedule. Clearly someone was just more worth his time than you.
The8′s car showed up 50 minutes later and he parked but didn’t come in. You knew he was waiting until it was exactly an hour so he didn’t mess you up by being early and you sighed and opened the door. You caught his attention and gestured for him to come in.
The8 hurried over and gave you a small awkward smile “I didn’t want to rush you if you weren’t ready”. You shook your head “it’s okay I just finished” which was a lie. You’d gotten ready in 15 minutes flat you were so worried he’d be early and had just been sat looking out of your window the whole time. The8 nodded and you led him into your living room where he took a seat. “Can I get you anything?” you asked him “some water or tea?”. He smiled when you said tea but shook his head “i’m okay” and you nodded but still didn’t sit down. “So I should probably explain” The8 said playing with his hands nervously “do you want to sit or stand?”. “I think i’ll stand if that’s okay” you replied and he nodded “of course”. He took a breath and started “so I broke up with you because I said I didn’t have enough time for us and that I couldn’t date with my career at the moment”.
Here it was you thought, now he was going to point out the irony that he’d found someone else and tell you how it was somehow different. You took a breath and gripped the sleeve of your top. You wouldn’t react, you’d just nod, tell him it was okay and get him out of here as quickly as possible. You were so busy counting to three you didn’t properly hear what he said.
“Now I’ve realised what a stupid idea that was”.
You startled into movement “i’m sorry?” you asked. The8′s eyes flickered up to yours and he held them there “I was an idiot to break up with you and I’m here to ask if you’ll forgive me and give me another chance”.
At that you did take a seat/practically fell back into the sofa. “I...but I don’t understand, has something changed?”. The8 paused “yes and no. No in that my work schedule hasn’t changed and my company will likely need me more as members start going off to military”. You nodded unsure what else to do. “But I’ve changed” he carried on “before I had ideas about how a relationship was meant to be and was so preoccupied with messing us up I just sabotaged everything. I was insecure and I projected that onto you. I know now I was being foolish and I’ve missed you every day since we broke up. You’ve been on my mind constantly and I know now I’ll never meet anyone like you. I was the luckiest man and I ruined all that. I acknowledge all the pain I’ve caused you and I will be eternally sorry. I never wanted to hurt you and will spend the rest of my life making it up to you...if you’ll let me of course”.
He finished his speech and silence fell. He was watching you cautiously and you took a few breaths “I wasn’t expecting this”. He nodded “it’s a lot to take in, don’t feel you have to respond straight away”. You nodded and tried to process everything he was saying. He wanted you back? He’d changed his mind? “I’m just unsure” you admitted “it’s been 2 months which isn’t ages but it’s a substantial amount to be apart, why now?”. The8 shrugged “in truth I didn’t feel good with it when I first made the decision but I figured that was just normal for a break-up. When that persisted after three weeks and four...and five, I finally realised those feelings meant something. My unhappiness, how much I missed you...how much I still love you” he said softly “those things weren’t going anywhere and that’s when I knew I had to do something. I’m sorry i’m so late but I knew I had to try”.
You paused “you still love me?”. The8 nodded “of course I do, I think no matter what happens I always will. You’re very important to me Y/n”. You blushed and The8 took that as a good sign. “You can ask me all the questions you want, tell me off for anything i’ve done. I’m willing to accept anything”. You nodded “I just have one...will you finally let me borrow your suits?”. You smiled and The8 paused “does this mean...”. “Yes” you nodded “I want to get back together...if you let me wear your suits”. The8 grinned “you can have them all as gifts” he cried and rushed to hug you. You laughed as he threw his arms around you and squeezed you tightly, his careful resolve now gone thanks to his joy. You hugged him back and told yourself this wasn’t a dream. It was all real.
The8 seemed to be thinking the same thing as when he pulled away he smiled at you “thank you Y/n. You won’t regret this I promise”. “I know” you nodded.
The8 returned home later with a huge smile on his face and all the members could guess why and were thrilled...because they’d got their The8 back.

The buzzing sound woke me up the next morning. Pushing myself to sit upright on the cold stone floor I saw an officer standing outside my cell. Forcing myself to stand on my feet I eyed the officer slightly annoyed. “How long exactly are you going to keep me locked up in here?”
“You have a visitor.” He didn’t answer my question and instead opened the cell door. “Turn around with your hands behind your back.”
Doing what he had told me I bit my lip hoping my visitor would be getting me out of here and they had found the person who ordered the attack on my father in law. The officer locked handcuffs on my wrists leading me outside and down the hallways till we reached a room he had to unlock with keys. “Kayce! Alana! Thank God.” I gasped in relief seeing two familiar faces that I knew wouldn’t back down from this fight.
“Sit down, Ms. Dutton.” A detective who sat across from the pair told me, pointing to the empty chair beside my sister. The officer unlocked my cuffs letting me sit down before he exited the room. Eyeing the corner near me I saw a red light turn on the camera that was pointing directly at us meaning they were recording everything now. The detective leaned forward introducing himself. “My name is Detective Dillord. I’m studying the Governor's open case and so I decided it was time to get your side of the story. So start from the beginning if you wouldn’t mind.”
Leaning back against the chair I glared at the detective but knew what I saw two days ago. “I had gone over to get John’s signature on a document that concerned both of our families' ranches. I didn’t intend to spend the night, but we got distracted just talking so I passed out in his spare bedroom.”
“How do you remember finding the Governor shot in the bathroom?”
Tapping my fingers together I started explaining more. “I had a baby from a young age which means I have to go pee more than I used to in the middle of the night. Anyways, I must have started the men who were holding him down because I heard them drop something on the floor so I went running to investigate. I found a needle of some sort-”
“This needle?” The detective opened his folder, spinning it around to show me. The vial was filled with some type of clear liquid inside of it.
Kayce raised a brow eyeing the picture. “Did you test it? What did toxicology come back with?”
“I can't disclose that information with a suspect present.” The detective replied.
Rolling my eyes I couldn't stand being referred to as a suspect. We needed to clear my name off their list as soon as possible. “When I found them in his bedroom one of them charged right at me and we got into a fist fight while the other two dragged John to the bathroom. I had managed to knock the one guy out and ran into the bathroom. One guy was putting the gun in John's hand about to make it look like suicide until I tackled him to the ground.”
Alana nervously eyed my husband when he asked me questions rather than the detective. “How badly did they hurt you? Did the other guy try and kill you?” We hadn't gotten to even talk really before I was immediately arrested by police.
“One of them managed to grab the gun and shoot me here.” Lifting up my shirt I showed them where I still wrapped myself with whatever fabric I could find to stop the bleeding.
Alana covered her mouth. “Oh God.”
“John - John started waking up and said my name seeing the intruders. The other guy picked up the guy and went to shoot him in the head but I jumped on his back choking him so he misfired. Later through the fight I got thrown on the floor one of them shot me. But in the end I managed to shoot both of them before they killed me or the Governor of Montana.”
Kayce rose from his chair demanding to the detective. “We have to take her to the hospital. That bullet could still be inside of her. It could kill her.”
“I’ll take that into consideration. Ms. Lambert, can I speak with you in my office privately?” Detective Dillard rose from his chair and my sister rose from her seat walking into the hallway. He eyed me and my husband before he ordered him out of the room. “Commissioner Dutton, please wait outside in the lobby. I’ll come find you once we are done talking.”
Kayce slowly got up from his chair giving me a weak smile, leaning down he whispered in my ear. “I love you. We’re going to fix this.”
“I love you too.” I replied back watching him close the door behind himself leaving me in the room by myself for about two hours. With my head laying on the table on my crossed arms I woke up from my nap hearing the door opened and closed revealing just my sister coming inside the room. “So what is happening now?”
She sat down across from me in the former detective’s chair, sitting her folder down in front of her before clasping her hands together. “I have some good news and bad news. Which do you want first?”
“Good news, I guess.”
My older sister bites her lip. “The detective agreed that you should be transported to the hospital to be treated for your injuries.”
“So he believes me and they’re dropping the charges?”
Shaking her head no , her weak smile completely dropped from her face. “Unfortunately, no. They’re going to keep you here until they can prove what you said is true. They need to question the other witness who was at the scene during the attack.”
“The other witness. He’s referring to John. But - but he’s in the hospital.” Knitting my brows together I was baffled by her words, not liking the direction that this was going in at all.
Alana ran a hand through her loose hair, slumping her shoulders heavily hating that she couldn’t be much more helpful in this specific situation. “They’d need to question John. In order to back up the information you told them. So for now you have to remain here.”
“What current condition is my father in law in?” The question flew from my mouth.
“He’s in a coma.” She answered me with tearful eyes. “I’m so sorry, Alissa.”
Burying my face in my hands I had no clue what to do. I didn’t want to be stuck here. I wanted- needed to see my kids and my husband. “But - but there’s a chance he might not wake up. What - what am I going to do?” My sister began sniffing back tears. She knew Kayce wasn’t going to rest until his entire family was back home and the ranch was safe from people who wanted it gone.

CG! Eddie Munson x Shifter Agere OC
Chapter 2. Back to Hawkins
Summary: BB finds herself back in Hawkins and Eddie finds himself more drawn to take care of her.
Warnings: Heavier Implications of abuse, implications of ED and SH. Gareth being a little mean, Eddie babying Bonnie. VERY LONG (2.9 k)
Tumblr media
Eddie woke in the morning, he no longer felt the comforting weight of Bonnie on his chest, so he rolled over and stretched his arm out looking for her, groaning when he didn't feel her. "Mmmmm, Bon...?" After no answer, he sat up looking around and squinting, "Bon?" He sits up getting out of the bed, beginning to search the trailer, the clothes he'd given her were still in his bed, and hers were missing, had she left? He couldn't help feel a little let down, but despite that, he got dressed and left for the day. "No way you spent the night with a girl, we're losers Ed." Jeff snorted and looked among the group to see their reactions. "No no its true, he called me about it last night, soooo, you and stalker girl?" Gareth grins and nudges Eddie in the side. His jaw clenched in annoyance. "It's not like that, she's not a stalker she-" He cut himself off, the truth would sound insane, he wasn't even sure it was true, and if it was, he probably shouldn't be telling the town about it. "She's not a stalker. Anyway nothing happened, she had a nightmare or something, asked me to sleep next to her, and when I woke up she was gone." "She take anything?" Jeff asks, they'd never seen Eddie like this, so they got the hint to take it easy on the jokes. He shakes his head. "Stash untouched, money all there, tv, guitar, nothings missing. She said she wasn't from Hawkins, I don't have her number." There was an uncomfortable silence as Eddie pushed around the food on his tray with his fork. "I don't think I'll ever see her again..."
Bonnie woke up to the sound of yelling and things being thrown around the house, a familiar noise, but unsettling none the less, she whines softly. "Eddie? What's happening?" Her eyes opened and she saw she was back in her own room. "Oh... it was a dream." She slowly sat up before seeing her legs, cut and bruised and grazed, pretty freshly too. A finger pressed around the wounds experimentally causing her to hiss, it wasn't a dream? "Bonnie! Get your ass downstairs!" She jumps up and pulls on a hoodie to cover the hellfire shirt, going downstairs as instructed. "Heard you up last night, no wonder you've slept half the day. And who were you talking to just now?" "It's only mid day papa, and no one, just... myself." A strong grip tightened around her wrist. "Then what happened to your legs hm? You been sneaking out?" "I'm an adult-" "-You're my daughter! You listen to me! Go get my tools!" "But-" "Get!" He shoves her toward the door, causing her to trip and smack into the wall. Bonnie was immediately crying but ran to get the tools, it would only upset him more to see her cry, or that she'd split her lip, as well as bumping above her eye, which would no doubt bruise, and her nose started bleeding. She wiped her face as best as she could with her sleeve as she collected her dads bag, dragging it back to him and keeping her head down.
Bonnie watched from her bed as her dad boarded shut her window, and then added a lock to the outside of her door. "What if I have to pee? What if there's a fire?" "You can hold it. And god forbid the house set on fire, you'd better hope I remember to let you out." Without another word, the door was shut and locked, locking Bonnie in the room with no way out. After a while of crying and panicking from being trapped, she grabbed her phone and began typing searching up to see if anyone had similar experiences to her from last night, and after having to continuously filter results and change her search she found it, she found what she was looking for. A blog talking about their shifting experience, and the more she read through it, the more it sounded like that's exactly what she did, just, without meaning to. Her next search, how to do it again. It wasn't long before she was lying in bed, trying all sorts of different methods, she hadn't scripted, she wanted the pure, authentic Eddie she met last night. Bonnie steadied her breathing, focusing on the memory of Eddie. A soft smile spread on her face and she felt herself drifting.
Bonnie jolted awake, looking around and sighing in relief to see Eddies room surrounding her, she laid back in his sheets comfortably, at home she had a mattress and two pillows so she was grateful for the warm, cosy bedding, it was just an added bonus that they smelt like Eddie. Speaking of, she got up and headed for the door. "Eddie?" She opened the door to see an older, balding man drinking coffee, she recognised him as uncle Wayne, but still shrieked in surprise and slammed the door shut.
Eddie got home, taking off his jacket and hanging it up before leaning back to crack his back, he went to go make a snack when a voice behind him spoke. "Who's the girl?" Uncle Wayne, Eddie looked at him and saw a smirk, "In your room?" He elaborated, "Don't worry, not mad, just, use protection and keep the noise down-" "When did she get here?" "Well, I got in before you left, so I assumed she stayed the night, certainly didn't get here since I've been home." Eddie didn't wait a second longer, rushing to his room and opening the door. "Bon!" He grins before fidgeting and clearing his throat, "I mean, you're back! Where'd you go?" He crossed his arms awkwardly trying not to seem so excited. Bonnie was curled up in the corner, hugging her knees to her chest. "My uncle scare yo-" he was cut off to her hugging him tight, her face hidden in his chest, he hoped she wouldn't hear the way his heart skipped a beat. "Hey? You okay...?" "When I fell asleep, I woke up at home again..." She was trembling slightly. Eddie grew worried and gently lifted her face, his expression dropping seeing her black eye and busted lip. He strokes her hair back with a worried expression, hands slightly shaking with hidden rage, the cold metal of his rings gently brushing her cheeks. "Who did this to you?" She shook her head. "It doesn't matter you can't fi-" "Bon, Who. Did. This?" "My dad." His jaw tensed, she was right, he couldn't do anything, it broke his heart, but when he saw her eyes welled with tears, it washed away, replaced with worry, being mad wouldn't help anything, he wanted to help her instead. "You'll stay here, with me, I'll keep you safe, here." Eddie knelt in front of her and looked away as he pulled down her shorts, replacing them with his sweatpants. "What are you doing?" BB asks, watching him nervously, chewing on the ends of her sleeve as she felt herself beginning to slip. "I'm gonna take care of you. That okay?" She blushed wildly and nods making him smile wide. "Good girl." Eddie had an urge for a while, to have someone in his life that needed him, to care for them, to... baby them. He never understood the compulsion. "Come on baby bat, up you come." Eddie picked up her up, wrapping her legs around his waist, making her hug onto his neck in panic, fearing she'd be dropped. "It's okay, I got you."
Eddie sat her on the side of the bathtub, gently cleaning off her face of the dried blood. "Tell me if I'm hurting you, okay?" Bon once again nods softly, still chewing and sucking on her sleeve. "Good girl, hey hey no baby... icky. Look your sleeves are all wet now..." He opened a draw and pulled out a numbing cream, gently applying it to her injuries. "Sowwy..." He paused at the way she spoke, but smiles. "It's okay, how about we go to the store and you can pick out anything you want okay? So, something you can chew on too?" Eddie smiles wide and kisses her forehead gently. "First, how about we brush this hair?" "Okay..." She smiles wide and reaches up to be picked up again.
"Laces all tied?" Eddie had found an old pair of his from being younger, they had all sorts of drawings on them. "Yep! All tied!" Bon's legs swing back and forth from the van seat. "Okay, so hold my hand, don't wonder off, and while I adore that little voice of yours, I think it's best you don't talk to anyone, okay?" He was worried about the people in this town being their usual selves and making her feel bad, and also worried people would question who she even was, the people here were paranoid especially after the last few years. She nods firmly, waiting as he came to her side of the van, unbuckled her and lifted her out of the van. Her hand clasps around his, automatically pressing herself to his side as they walked into the little store. They walked to the clothing isle, "So you have stuff to wear at mine?" He chuckles, making her chew her lip shyly, she kinda liked wearing his clothes, "Do you wanna pick or can I?" The regressor in her craved being cared for completely, even being dressed. "You pick." BB spoke quietly so she wouldn't be heard. "Okay... why don't you look around and pick some things, and meet me right over there okay?" He pointed to an Icee machine, giving her hand a squeeze and then a little kiss before watching her walk away.
Bonnie waddled nervously down each isle, stopping when she came to the baby section, she wanted badly to get some things, she didn't have much at home, but she didn't know if Eddie would want to buy these for her, on the other hand, maybe she could lie about why she wanted to it, nervously picking up a sippy cup, bottle, and a set of plate, bowl and cutlery with teddy bears printed on it. She nervously held the items to her chest and continued looking through them, after a lot of thought, she chose to stay with what she had, not wanting to push Eddie. She made her way towards the Icee machine, eyes widening to see a familiar face sat on the counter drinking one. "Gareth?" His face turns to her and he frowns. "I know you?" His tongue was a bright purple colour from the drink, her face grew a somewhat scared expression. "O-oh... No no sorry I thought you were someone else..." He looked over her confused before noticing the shoes, Eddies. "Stalker girl? Holy shit it's stalker girl!" He chuckles to himself and gets off of the counter, getting close to her, "Eddie told us all about you, so, how do you know all this stuff about us?"
On the other side of the store, Eddie was busy filling a basket with all sorts of stuff, the urge to spoil becoming too hard to conquer, he also slipped a few things into his pockets, but his head snapped up hearing the familiar voice of his club member, Gareth, yelling "Stalker girl." His heart dropped, he loved his friends, but he knew what they were like, just like how he was usually. He rushed towards the noise, seeing Gareth and Bonnie. "Gareth back off." Eddie tapped BB's hand with his finger, letting her know he was there if she needed, trying to hold back a smile when he felt her hand wrap around two of his fingers. Gareth's hands lifted defensively. "Just asking her questions, looking out for my guy. So," He looks down at their hands "You two are...?" Eddie gave a stern look and Gareth decided to drop it. "Well... uh, have fun, see ya Monday I guess..." With that he walked away and Eddie knelt in front of BB stroking her hair, "You okay? I'm sorry about him..." She nods and reaches forward hugging around his neck tight and hiding her face in the comforting nest that was his hair. "Oh... "He hugged back "Hey its okay, just gotta pay and we can go back to mine okay? Just me an' you alright? Can you do that f'me?" He pulled back doing his best to look down at her despite their close proximity, pouting a little "Please?" Bonnie takes a deep breath and nods softly, letting go of Eddie before pointing at the cart he was trying to hide. "Wha's dat?" Eddie made a mental note to ask about how she was talking later on, but for now he guided her attention back to him. "Those are surprises when we get back home okay?" She looked away from them and nods softly, smiling a little, "I'm gonna need you to gimme what you've chosen, and then look away so the surprise isn't ruined, 'kay?" Once he was handed her items, he smiled wide at what she'd chosen, a little baby bottle? He couldn't help picturing himself holding her on his lap and feeding her with the bottle, but quickly shook the idea from his head and frowned at himself for thinking that way, he paid for the items, well the ones that weren't hidden in his pockets, hid everything away in the bag, and turned back to Bonnie. "Time for home."
Once the pair got back, Eddie led Bonnie to his room, guiding her to sit down and taking the shoes off for her. "First, for my girl," The words caught her attention, his girl, " The plates and bottle you picked out..." She snatched them up trying to hide them shyly making him chuckle and grab her hand "No need for that, I already saw them anyway sweetheart." He tucked some of her hair out of the way just admiring her face for a moment before digging through the bag, the first item he pulled out was a soft teddy bear making her gasp and go to grab it, but hesitating and looking at him for approval. "Go on, its yours." He could see the fear in her face, the long term affects of her abuse. "Good girl..." He praises gently when she takes it. The next items from the bag consisted of a few other stuffed animals, leaving her in a pile of them, followed by many different cute clothes half were bright baby pastels, and the other were black and grey "In case you wanted to look like yours truly." He'd explained, there were shirts with cute decals printed on them, like little flowers or bees, one had stars and clouds. he then pulled out a dress, it was a skater dress with a pink floral design. And last but not least, he pulled out a few more items, a 2 pack of pacifiers, "I'd be careful with these they might hurt your teeth." She blushed brightly at the sight of them, he also pulled out a little rattle toy, a teether toy, a bottle of his own as well as a bunch of food and candy and applesauce. Something about her too him, he didn't know what it was, he wanted to baby her, and he had a feeling she'd want that. "Let's get you into your own clothes now, m'kay?" She nods softly "Want my help?" she nods again, allowing him to carefully remove his clothing from her, replacing it with an oversized blue carebears shirt, and some soft shorts, though the shirt was was large enough to cover them completely anyway. "Now, your hair, can I tie it up for you sweetie? Wanna see that pretty face of yours." Bonnie was busy staring down at her clothing, she felt adorable in the oversized, lightly coloured clothing and eddies mismatched comfy socks, her long hair covering her face before she squealed and hugged him tightly catching him off guard and nearly making him topple over, "Awww I'm glad you like it honey, now." He put a few pillows on the floor and sat on his bed, "sit, back t'me princess." She did as he said and sat between his legs, shyly playing with his pant legs and hugging one of her new stuffed animals close. Eddie had braided his own hair before, but this was someone else and much longer, he'd give it his best go. Once her hair was done, he grins at her, "There's the gorgeous princess, now, sit tight, I need to go speak with my uncle." He takes the plate from the set and the sippy cup before leaving BB alone in his room, finding Wayne watching TV. "There he is, my favourite uncle, anything I can get you? A beer, a sandwi-" "What do you want? Is it about the girl?" "What? Pfft, no! Such accusations, I'm deeply offended." "So what is it?" "... Okay yeah it's about BB, can she stay here?" He put his hands in the 'please' position. "Eddie-" "Did you not see her face? She doesn't have somewhere safe to go. Please Wayne." That hit his soft spot, Wayne glared at the boy who occupied his trailer for a similar reason, remembering a young teen Eddie sniffling up at him, black eye and a trash bag full of his stuff. "Fine... Just, remember what I said earlier." His face went red, head rolling back as he groaned. "Jesus Wayne! It's not like that." Eddie shook the embarrassment off, breathing a sigh before going back to his room, watching her for a moment in silence. "Hey Bon?" To Be Continued, Part 3

Chapter VIII: Doomed
The infirmary had four beds, two on each side.
The room itself was cold and lifeless, lacking of any color or feeling of hope. It vibrated in pain making Valeria's teeth clench. The stench of death was not unfamiliar, but in no way comforting.
Valeria sat with a ice pack gently pressed to her eye. One wrist was cuffed to the bed rail much to her discomfort.
Jane laid across from her asleep, body turned to the side which meant Valeria couldn't see any wounds. Hell, she couldn't even tell if she was breathing.
The nurse walked in front of Valeria, pulling the ice pack away. She studied the spot, shining a light in her eye. Valeria's eye flicked sending pain throughout the socket.
"It's gonna leave a nasty bruise. Doesn't look like any ocular damage. I'm gonna keep you overnight to be sure and keep it iced. Should probably do the same for your lip." Valeria ran her tongue over the busted skin, tasting dried blood.
She gave Valeria back the ice pack. Valeria immediately returned it to her eye. She leaned back in the bed, wincing at the pain in her stomach. The kick would no doubt also leave a bruise.
A few hours passed, the constant rhythmic typing of the nurses fingers on the keyboards threatened to drive Valeria insane. It wasn't until the nurse left that Valeria finally sat up.
"Jane," she whispered, afraid of someone hearing. Jane did not move. Valeria groaned, rattling her handcuff, hearing be damned. "Jane!"
Her friend stirred, slowly rolling onto her back. When Jane finally met her gaze Valeria couldn't help the gasp that escaped her mouth.
Scratches covered her whole face down to her collar bone, deep enough that she was worried it would leave permanent scarring. Jane was pale, dark half circles under her eyes and brusing on her jaw.
"Valeria? The hell are you doing here? You look like shit," Jane's voice was a whisper.
"I could say the same for you. What happened?"
Jane shifted up to a sitting position, her face scrunched in pain. "Honestly, I don't know who did it.."
Valeria's mouth thinned, her heart started racing. "Who did what?"
Jane offered a weak smile. "I woke up in the middle of the night to someone in a mask standing over me. I know it was a man. The mask was . . . It was burlap. It looked like a scarecrow. Before I could scream some kind of gas filled the cell. I remember . . . everything." Her voice cracked. "There were bugs, so many maggots, spiders, roaches. They all crawled on me and burrowed into my skin. I-I tried to get them off." She reached for her face. "When I screamed some crawled into my mouth. I had needle marks on my arms, just like my parents have. I saw Sebastian and my grandparents dead bodies." She was crying, gripping onto the sheets while her body shook.
Valeria wanted nothing more than to hug her, seeing someone so vibrant be stripped of color.
"So he gave you some kind of hallucinogen?"
Jane nodded. "It felt real, every bit of it. I think it went on for four hours, felt like more. He didn't intervene when I was clawing off my skin, he didn't even move. He just stood and watched me, like some kind of experiment. I thought I was going to die. The only time he spoke was to ask me what I'd seen. There was no emotion, no regret. I think he almost enjoyed it. His voice was so deep, so demonic."
Valeria didn't know how to respond, didn't know how any words could offer Jane comfort.
Luckily, she didn't have to, Jane sniffed, eyeing the ice pack and her lip. "How'd you wind up here?"
Valeria lowered the ice pack to show Jane. "Gerald and I didn't agree on his chess skills." Jane laughed, quickly covering her mouth and apologizing.
Valeria chuckled back. "Don't worry, it was kind of funny."
"Punching Crane, taking on Gerald, maybe you need some anger management."
Valeria rolled her eyes playfully. "I'm half covered in bandages, maybe I need to learn when my opponent is too much."
"Kind of funny we ended up here at the same time. Glad to have the company."
"Me too. Sebastian will at least know you're not bleeding out or missing a limb. What do you want me to tell him?"
Jane's face fell, looking off to the side.
"He deserves to know the truth," Valeria offered.
"You're right . . . If you don't mind, I'd like to tell him . . . Do you think I'm crazy?" Valeria held up her hands.
"No, I don't. I think there are enough fucked up people here that one of them could do that. You do what you feel is right. My lips are sealed. You should get some more sleep, you look completely weak."
Jane nodded in agreement, turning on her side and snuggling back into the bed. Valeria listened until her friends breathing became deep and slow before releasing a sigh.
She didn't want to cry, not with the way simply looking over made her eye scream in pain. She leaned back on the pillow, eyes locked on Jane. She refused to sleep, no matter how long it would take. She would watch over her friend, in case this masked man came back to finish what he started.
A while later the nurse came back in with something in her hands walkimg over to Valeria.
"Take these." The nurse held out two pills and a cup of water.
"What are they?" Valeria asked, removing the ice pack and setting it beside her.
"Does it matter?" She sighed in exasperation.
"Yes."
"One is for the pain another is a pill your doctor prescribed." She hadn't remembered Dr. Lecter mentioning he'd put her on medicine. She took the pills, washing the bitter taste in her mouth down with water.
They sat in silence for a while before the nurse walked over to Jane and injected something into her IV.
"What are you giving her?" The nurse glared up at her. "A sedative so she sleeps through the night." The nurse returned to the computer, leaving Valeria to her thoughts.
It took twenty minutes before Valeria knew something wasn't right. Her heart was racing, she also felt anxious and paranoid.
"When did Dr. Lecter prescribe me that pill?"
"He didn't, Dr. Crane did."
Valeria froze, dread overtook her whole body. Icy coldness in her veins, fear in her chest. She felt so stupid for not asking.
"D-Dr. Crane prescribed it?" Her mouth was so dry. The nurse nodded, not bothering to look at her.
"I need Dr. Lecter, can you please get him?"
"Dr. Lecter is busy at the moment, he doesn't have time to come down here."
"I wonder how he would feel knowing you didn't inform him of one of his patients being physically hurt. Or giving them medicine without checking with their primary doctor." She saw the nurses hands pause, glancing up at her.
"I'll inform him of your condition, but not your request." She turned on her heels and left once again. Valeria was sweating now. If she puked up the pills she'd only be given more, not to mention too much time had passed. It was already in her system.
Her mind was spinning, body shaking. If she woke Jane then they'd both be panicking, but she didn't know if this drug would knock her out.
"J-Jane?" Her voice was distant, beyond her own body. "Fuck, Jane!"
Her mind was in a state of pure panic now. She pulled against the handcuff, frantically looking around the room.
There was a pen on the desk, right next to her bed, if she could only reach it she could pick the cuff lock.
She stretched out her hand, fingers barely brushing the side of it. She hissed as her limbs screamed in pain.
The pen was shaking in her vision.
Then a hand reached out to pluck it up, holding it out to her. She froze, looking up at Dr. Crane who had a smirk on his lips.
"Trying to grab this?" She grabbed for it but he quickly pulled his hand back, placing it further back on the desk.
"What did you give me?" She hissed.
"Nothing you need concern yourself with." He pulled up a chair from the corner and sat beside the bed. "It is merely something to help you relax."
"I'm the fucking opposite of that!"
"Instigating a beating to see Ms. Lockwood, quite the cunning plan." Dr. Crane is ignored her statement. Valeria was starting to think her panic was fueling whatever drug was coursing through her blood. The more she worried about it, the more her body started shaking.
"You did this to her." The words felt triumphant on her lips, like she had solved some great mystery.
He tilted his head at her. "No, my dear. I am just as confused as you about the situation."
The colors of his aura swirled and filled the room. She was in a sea of deception. Groaning, she turned on her back, sitting up.
"Why did you come here?" Her voice was shaky. A wave of nausea swept over her. Shadows danced out of the corner of her eyes making her flinch and scan the room.
"To check on you, you took quite the beating." His eyes flickered from her to Jane.
"She doesn't know, if she does she didn't tell me." She hoped these words would stop whatever he was thinking of doing.
"There's nothing to know about psychotic tendencies. Hallucinating is normal for psychosis."
"She isn't psychotic!"
"Who's going to believe that? Especially when it's my word against hers. Her parents have an extended history of drug use. She has one of suicide attempts. We have cameras in this asylum. No one saw a masked figure entering or leaving her cell."
"I believe her," she spat.
He grinned, showing teeth which sharpened into fangs. She saw the snake coiling back to strike.
He sat forward reaching a hand out to grip her cheeks between his thumb and forefinger. The pull of her cheekbone make her yelp in pain.
"Who do you think would actually believe you? You are still a patient at Arkham asylum, home for the criminally insane. Whatever bonds you think you've formed are an illusion. I am a respected psychiatrist, not to mention you have no proof. As much as I know you wish to paint me as your villain, I am not responsible for this."
"She's not crazy!"
"Ah, because you know her so well, yes?"
Desperation clawed at her bones. "Please," she whispered.
His eyebrow rose, a twisted smile formed on his face. "Please, what?"
Valeria's eyes cast to Jane. "Don't hurt her again."
"I've already told you it was not I." He released her face, leaning back in the chair, crossing one leg over the other.
"Then post a guard at her cell! Do something to keep her safe! She's not crazy, you fucking know that."
"I have countless other patients, I would gain nothing from that besides entertaining a delusion."
"What do you want?! Want me to beg?" Her question was meant in exaggeration, but he quirked his lips, waiting.
She saw something in that moment. He would never be swayed by her pleas. They would only fuel him more. So she could only think of what she did best. "You can kiss my ass. You're a damn coward and a piss poor excuse for a doctor."
Fight.
Something dark cast over his face, when he reached his hand out again it was quick to attack.
His fingers curled around her throat, applying enough pressure to scare her but not limit her oxygen intake.
Shivers ran down her spine. She froze in fear. Her breathing grew ragged and she reached up her uncuffed hand to grab his wrist.
"Let me make something perfectly clear, Ms. Gray," his tone was serious, threatening. "You have no power in this asylum. You are nothing but another individual society has thrown in here to get rid and not be responsible for. You are under my care. That means this building is under my rules and so are you. Do you know what that means?" The question was asked the way one would ask a child it, slow and condescending.
"That I really got myself into some shit?" She gagged when he tightened his grip on her throat, leaning forward.
"It means I own you."
The words sent adrenaline throughout her body, as if it finally realized the danger that lay before it.
"Please," she whispered, losing herself in the fear. "Please don't hurt her. I'll do anything."
That seemed to intrigue him. "Anything?"
She wasn't sure if it was the drugs, her desperation to protect any person she had a connection to, or maybe a concussion from her earlier beat down, but she tried to nod. "Yes."
"Here I thought you were incapable of forming relationships," he teased. "Perhaps it's just guilt."
"Perhaps."
"You lack a sense of self preservation, but seem very aware of others survival. It's unique."
"Do we have a deal?" Her ears were ringing so loudly she thought her skull would burst.
He released her, she finally felt she could breathe. Her eyes tracked him as he stood from the chair, placing it back in the corner. "We'll discuss your willingness in the afternoon tomorrow, during our session together. Until then I will have a guard posted here . . . To ensure this individual cannot get to Ms. Lockwood."
She dug her nails into the palm of her hand, relief, it only a small amount, filled her chest.
"What exactly have I agreed to?" Her words were calm, a mask of curiosity. Inside she was terrified.
His smile was reserved, one meant for his own thoughts.
"Get some rest, dear. You're going to need it."
He walked out, leaving Valeria to face the rest of the drugs side affects in silence.
She didn't know what Dr. Crane was capable of, all she knew was she felt like she had sold her soul.
All to protect Jane. Who Sebastian would suffer without. They needed each other the way Lucian and her had.
When the guard showed up at the door as Dr. Crane had promised she kept her eyes half open, knowing that trusting him was a fools mistake.
Still, sleep eventually overcame her.
