Why I'm Likely Skipping Out On The Warriors Musical
It's been awhile since I've done an in-depth post on here, hasn't it? This was inspired after reading that post by @stuckasmain. Well, I've looked at the plot of the musical on Wikipedia and looked I have a few issues with a lot of shit there. So, I'll be listing what I don't like mainly, but I will tell you what I do like as well.
The Girls Are Fighting? Let's address the most obvious thing first. The Warriors are women. Now before you call me misogynist or whatever, hear me out. I personally have made shitposts about an AU where the Warriors were girls and they were a lot of fun. Thing is, they're shitposts for a reason; they played into tropes and gave goofy ideas for the girls. This feels like cheap representation and women deserve better than that. The woke-ification of a franchise that was supposed to be inherently problematic in nature feels forced. I've talked about why a remake of this film would not work, but this wasn't something I could have expected. A lot of the things are pretty (stereotypically, I'll say) gender-specific. There's a lot of things that a remake would likely take out of the charm of the original film (which itself is already romanticising what happens in the book and that's its own problem).
The Bizzies? No. They've been running into guys all night, but now they're all infatuated with them because they... wear cardigans? Okay... Thing is, they could have still been the Lizzies and nothing would've fucking changed even if the Warriors were women. If anything, it seems like their guards would've been lowered if they were the Lizzies instead, right? Let's just make all the Warriors gay.
Ajax... Oh, sweet Problematic Ajax... Apparently she's played by Amber Gray, which is straight fire. Let's get into this. Ajax's entire character was part of the reason I said a remake doesn't work. The existence of this character serves to remind the viewer that not all members of a gang are "good" people. They have their good moments, relative to each other and what not, but it feels like when this character leaves, it's not because they were doing something triumphant and going out in a blaze of glory, it's supposed to be a comeuppance of sorts. Musical Ajax getting arrested for beating up a shitty cop doesn't feel like that. It just... it feels like you're punishing a woman for a man's shitty behaviour as opposed to because she's the problem. Just seems unsatisying to make this particular character some sort of heroic "for the girls" type of character (especially considering that the character from the original book was also supposed to be pretty problematic from what I recall).
This should have been at the top but WHERE THE FUCK ARE SNOW AND VERMIN?! You take out the two baddest bitches in the movie and leave EVERYBODY ELSE?! At least you left Cochise, but damn! What the fuck are you doing?! Now, none of the Warriors are double cheeked up on a Thursday afternoon! Also, I hate to go here, but it's pretty disrespectful to remove one of the few black Warriors from the group but leave Cowboy in, just sayin'...
Now, I DO like that Cleon was kept alive! The movie did set it up in a way that he could have been left alive, since Masai wanted the Warriors alive when they were brought to him.
I also like that there was no ambiguity for the other Warriors surrounding what happened to Fox! This plot only works when very few people have all of the information, but the Warriors knowing about Fox's death changes nothing in a negative way. Of course, there could be an argument made for them not knowning since Fox's death is supposed to be kind of abrupt. (Sure, it was because the actor who played Fox was fired in the movie, but it still works pretty well given the setting, methinks).
I also like that they gave the Hurricanes a larger role here, as they did have a large role in the game as the main antagonist for a mission.
In any case, I hope that those who enjoy continue to post about it as it is still nice to see some new faces in the fandom!

lıllı Disneyworld - Morning 12/25 ıllıllı
SKYLAR
Ever since she was capable of speaking again, Sky did not hold back - not that she did before this, but today especially. "Diiiiiiishhhhneeeeee!" she hollered at the top of her lungs the moment she was wide awake. Jumping up and down, she repeated as she run around as much as her tiny legs would let her. "We ah going to Disssshnnneeeeeeeee!" She yelled as she striked a pose that looked very similar to the type of victory poses soccer players do once they score.
MILA
Miles had luckily been up for about an hour by the time Sky decided to remind them of what they already knew. It wasn't that she wasn't looking forward to the trip as well, but the idea of mass quantities of people tended to dampen the idea a bit. "I want waffles." Was the equivalent response she provided as she sat in the hotel bed she shared with her mothers.
KEAGAN
She chuckled softly as she observed the difference between the twins. Taking Sky's hand, she walked over to the bed and held out a hand towards Miles. "Let's go get waffles, I'm sure mommy is already getting them ready for you as we speak." Also the earlier Sky gets out there, the faster she'll be reunited with her girlfriends and hopefully that could calm the kid down enough for cuddles.
LUKE
Her sleep schedule -or lack thereof- didn't really change too much with the addition of twin toddlers to the mix. If anything, it helped. Keagan got to hog her pups, they all got to sleep-in a bit more, and Luke got things started for them so they were ready when they woke up. Outfits were set out in the small living room of the resort suite, and she was putting the finishing touches on breakfast when she heard the screams that let her know Skylar was up and it was now everybody's problem.
"Alright, we have a plain short-stack with raspberries for Miles, a decked out full-stack for Sky with a plate of bacon on the side, and full breakfast sampler for mom," she said as she set out each plate before the now seated wolves. "I appreciate nothing more about these suites Leo got us than the fact we get a kitchen, because I _cannot_ imagine the circus it would be trying to make it down to the resort's breakfast buffet instead."
KEAGAN
It was no surprise to anyone that Sky was already reaching out for her stack before her butt even touched the seat. Ruffling the older twin's hair as she sat, she thanked Luke for the breakfast before taking a bite out of her own plate. "Oh god, Sky would be screaming all the way down." She laughed, pinching her daughter's cheek at the protest before using her thumb to wipe the syrup off the corner of her mouth. Sometimes she worried that Sky was going to choke on her food from the way she was inhaling them.
She looked over to her other daughter who was literally the opposite of the redhead. At least she didn't have to worry about Miles eating too quickly. "Miles, what are you looking forward to at Disney?" She had a feeling that no one was really looking forward to the crowd and the line-ups, but hopefully there was something that the kid will love.
LUKE
It took a lot of willpower to keep a straight face at Keagan's comments, given the very evident irony of her calling out Sky while doing a slightly more chill version of 'wolfing down'. Instead she just grinned, nodded, and took a drink of her coffee. She glanced over at Miles to see the younger twin was having the same thought process but focusing on separating her berries.
She did end up snorting coffee as Miles replied to her mother's question with just "Weaving". Regaining her breath she said, "I think our less talkative tot is upset that the things she likely would appreciate, she's not physically old enough for." Miles nodded as she chewed some waffle before adding, "Cos'pirasee teerey." Luke smiled and looked back at Keagan, "See, we got two more words. On the right track."
KEAGAN
Keagan couldn't help but gently pinch the younger twin's cheek at the reply. While it wasn't what she was hoping, she did expect an answer like that. "You aren't even looking forward to seeing the mascots?" She barely finished her question when Sky piped up, 'I AMMMMMM!!!!"
The brunette laughed at the sudden outburst. "We know you are, you're looking forward to everything, we just hope you have enough energy to actually get through everything. At the rate you're going, I think you might crash before we even step foot to the entrance."
LUKE
"Mascots are weird," she grumbled, only to have Miles nod in agreement. Glancing back over at the redhead, she went ahead and gave her a 'refill' on bacon. Last thing they needed was the energy level Skylar was currently possessing turnig into a tantrum because 'no she did _not_ eat all her bacon where is it??'
"Bold of you to assume this one plans on anything short of being carried like the princess she is across the entrance...if not the majority of the park," Luke snorted, before setting her coffee down and going to stand across the counter from Miles. "Tell you what Nuggy, you and I can work together to follow the initial trail of where we might find ol' D-man's forzen head, _if_ you promise to play nice so the other tots can have a good time?"
KEAGAN
She laughed when Sky nodded her head at the idea of being carried for majority of the day. "So this kid is either being princess carried or sitting in the kid wagon for most of the day - what are your little legs for, princess?" She sighed as she nudged her empty plate forward to make space to rest an elbow.
It was sort of funny to see the difference between the twin - Sky was so excited compared to Miles who was dreading having to be in a sea of people. Understandable, but Keagan found it so adorable. "Will it make you feel better knowing that Callie's going with us?" Even though they were family, it seemed that the young shapeshifter did not want to spend a full day with her cousin alone even if it was in a theme park - especially now that they could actually talk.
LUKE
Luke chuckled and said, "Well she is a product if her-" _genetics_, is what she originally planned to say, but noting the now empty breakfast plate in front of the Calvetti woman she settled on, "-her _raising_. So my bad, I guess." The last thing she needed was a grumpy fiancé, on top of a spoiled mini-hurnado, _on top_ of a grumpy introvert being taken to the 'happiest place in earth'...at least not this early in the day.
The way Miles immediately froze and her expression went completely blank, had Luke already making her way around the counter. Which, luckily, had her in prime position to catch the kid, chair and all, when she tried to bolt to her room and forgot booster seats meant she was strapped in. "Okay, ease up there Nuggy," she began as she righted the chair. "She's been with us for ages now as her regular self, and would _you_ want to spend the entire trip with bitch-who-shall-not-be-named?" The way the kid looked around the room at everyone present, had even Sky being quiet...if one didn't count the sound of her continued eating, of course. "Tay...but I dun wanna walk eever. Too many steps wif too little feet." Luke smiled and glanced up at Keagan. "I think we can work with that."
SKYLAR
She had been diligently eating her breakfast - and the seconds (thirds, forths, etc) that came after that she didn't have anything to contribute to the conversation. She already made her point across earlier anyways. However, when a certain someone was called, her for only slowed down as she focused on her sister's reaction. Her grin only widened when Miles accepted the fact that Callie was going to chill with them.
"Callie's nuh gonna like it if she knew you tried to run away!" The wolf focused back on her food when their mom gave her a warning glare. "Juh shaying". She paused before piping up again. "Ish bitch-who-shall-nuh-be-named going too?"
MILA
Considering the only people aside from herself that would even know she tried to run away were her moms and Sky, and obviously the moms would never spills, the only way that was even a consideration was if Skylar was thinking about telling... "Dun make me hide you gwasses."
Miles knew it was more than guaranteed that the _other_ cousin would go as well, just with her own guardians. "Yeah, but not wif us...right? She's _not_ going wif us, say she's not."
KEAGAN
God, how she loved her girls. Just watching them bicker like this was just so... Endearing - much like everything else they've done. "No one is going to tell Callie that." She warned as she gave the older twin a sterner look. The last thing they want was to upset the shapeshifter whose crush on Miles was pretty obvious to most.
"No, baby, she's not. Aleja and Blake will be keeping an eye on her so that she won't be able to approach anyone." It was common knowledge that the cousin was not liked by most of the scoobs; there was no reason to aggravate that. "We'll get everyone changed amd ready to go after you're done eating, okay?"
+Cut to - Disney entrance: Later the same day
TOMI
It had been quite the morning already, what with her mom...moms?...trying to wrangle four kids to get them all Disney-ready, and her dad just moping as he looked on. Like seriously? Man could've easily offered to help, if even it wasn't from the heart. Personally, Tomir felt it would just a tad less likely to be completely ignored if he would _try_. As her stroller finally made it past the turnstiles and into the park, she'd reached her first limit of the day. "Momma! Sean is cwying again, and we _just_ got here. What are they _two_?? "
AYDEN
She had been doing her best to help Izzy with the kids every step of the way. Even though the Beta wolf was there, Ayden did notice that Izzy was not going to bother with him and just carried on until Braxton gets his shit together. The shifter was not going to get in the middle of that. Her attention was pulled when she heard the sass in the kid's voice and couldn't help but let out a light chuckle before scooping up the crying one. "What's the matter, baby?" She gave a light kiss to Sean's temple before looking down. "What's got you so upset?"
SEAN
It was very overwhleming to finally be entering the magical place that she'd come to terms with never getting to visit, a long time ago. With her dad being who he was, the idea of _ever_ making it to the 'Happiest Place on Earth' was just an impossible dream. And now, her currently tiny body was far too overwhelmed by emotion. Calming down slightly as she nuzzled into Ayden, Sean could only whimper, "Too happy."
AYDEN
Ayden looked over to Izzy with a half-aww, half-pout of her own, silently telling the other to look at how cute Sean was. "Too happy.." She hummed as she thought about the reason, "Because you're at Disney? We should make more trips here then, how does that sound? And look! Over there.. Ryllie's here." She said with a hint of surprise. Somehow they convinced Ryllie to come to such a crowded place.
IZZY
If she hadn't been busy setting two other babies in the big wagon with Tomi, Izzy may have started crying herself. She didn't need Sean to have a full vocab right now to know exactly why the tears even though they were happy. "We'll definitely make this at least a yearly trip, and hopefully with you tall enough to actually ride most rides," she said.
AMARYLLIS
She had been dreading coming here since she learned of the plans. Her sister on the other hand, was the complete opposite. However, her dread was quickly overtook by concern and anger when she saw Sean crying. Letting go of her mother's hand, she ran - or trotted - over the best she could and looked up at Sean. "...Who made you cry?"
ARTEMIS
Having overheard the question, the toddler snorted. "Why bover asking? You can't even wipe your own butt yet, what are you gonna do with the ansah?"
CATALINA
"Dun be mean, Ahtee." The little mermaid said while cuddling with the faerie in their own little wagon. "We ah here to have fun! I wanna take pichas wif Pluto!!"
LEO
"Alright, no one's being to anyone...except maybe Blake and Aleja's little bundle of bitchiness, but aside from that we're all here to have a good time! Let's face it, how many of you got to go on vacation with your parents you were originally this tall?" It wasn't the best thign to point out, but it _was_ effective in getting everyon to settle down. "Now, we don't all have to stick together, but considering that kids definitely have dependecy issues with others, I'd recommend splitting up accordingly. Evan you're with us by default."
DYLAN
This may be the first time she had ever visited the theme park - it went without saying that the Waldorfs were *not* the family bonding type of people... And even if they were, going to a theme park would not be the method. It was crowded and not in the fun way. The place was filled with kids. To think that Dylan was here, somewhat voluntarily was a miracle on its own; Nox would have a field day with this. Her distaste disappeared as quickly as it appeared at the plan of sticking together. "I think we will be fine on our own, no?"
[D
Having taken stock of their wagons and ensure that they had all of their actual babies _and_ their furry ones -Leo having gotten the pets emotional support certifications, Dee snapped her attention to the woman. Pinning her with a stern gaze, she said, "Look here, Miss Ma'am. You are _guest_ on this family trip. Fer's 'plus one' and Julian's best friend. Your attitued and how you manage to act around everyone else from the moment we arrived in Florida to the second we leave is going to determine whether or not you'll just be included by default on the _next_ family trip, ya dig?"
FLORENCIA
She looked over when she heard Dee scold someone, and not surprisingly, it was Dylan. What she didn't expect was the bitch actually shutting up and had a brief look of surprise when there was was a chance she might be included on the next trip. "... She didn't even sass back at Dee. Who *is* she?" She muttered to Kieran. It had been a while since they all bunked up at the hotel but every time, Ren was still fascinated by this change. "Anyways... Did we grab a map of the park?"
KIERAN
Kieran glanced over at the other group and simply said, "Someone with a survival instinct. I was constantly doing the same thing around her, and I was the one with the gun and the badge." The woman may have been human, but she was imposing and nothing if not protective of her kids. "Diego said he was going to grab one....but that was like ten minutes ago so, I don't think we're getting a map."
FLORENCIA
"Damn.. Never mess with Dee." She muttered. "I guess we'll just have to grab one ourselves along the way." Ren straightened up and started looking around to see if she could even spot her brother, "I think he's more excited about this trip than Steve... Whatever, he'll find us eventually." Speaking of her sister, she looked over to the wagon. "Is there anything you want to ride today? No rollercoasters, obviously." That definitely got a pout. "I think every kid today is not happy about no rollercoasters." She chuckled, "Something tells me that we might all need to come back when they revert back to normal."
KIERAN
The older witch let Ren finish, but when the fire witch went to go ahead and begin moving further into the park, she reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I think you're forgetting something super crucial, and no, I don't mean Diego." With her head, she nodded over to where Avery was standing awkwardly with her brother, clearly dying to join them, but not wanting to just make a move to tag along without being explicitly invited. Likely due to Ren's temper.
FLORENCIA
She looked over her shoulder and spotted the youngest Rendall looking rather longingly towards them. Surely if it was just Diego and Kieran, Avery would have already been following them. "Why .. are you standing there like that?" She asked without yelling since she was sure that the wolf could hear her from there. "Come on.. Steve wouldn't forgive me if you don't come along anyways." Her sister motioned to her girlfriend to come over, "Dat's right." Point in case. "Am I that scary?"
KIERAN
"You really _don't_ want me to answer that," Kieran quipped as she took over the pushing of the wagon, given that Avery had climbed right on in and Steve was already making herself comfortable. "Alright, I know we're mostly sticking to the age-appropriate things for the little bit, but I still want to get a head start on trying to hit up each and every food place at least once." Having learned she was adopted, she couldn't really say she _wasn't_ something other than witch, but she was sure she wasn't part wolf...even if she could eat like one.
FLORENCIA
She watched as the very much still adult sized Avery climbed into the wagon. Whatever.. Steve was happy so Ren was not going to say anything. "Wouldn't it make more sense for you to join Luke's group? They've got Sky.. Who is bound to have the same goals at you at this park then." She chuckled before looping around her girlfriend's arm. "Wait, there's literally food everywhere."
KIERAN
"I mean if you're looking to spend the day at Disney with your sister and her gf then, I can definitely leave you to it," Kieran said. It wasn't an issue for her either way, as she could understand Ren wanting to have some alone sister time...or as alone as it got with Avery there. "Yeah...yeah there is," she said almost dreamily.
FLORENCIA
"I'd like to spend the day with my girlfriend too, you know." But there was no way she'd trust her baby sister with Avery alone.. and where was Diego really? "I guess we'll all be trying out all the food along with you - and thank god we're not going on rollercoasters today because that would be a really, really bad idea."
DIEGO
He ran up to his sisters (all three, Kieran counted) and stopped handing Ren the map. "Sorry, I had to convince Jack that she was more than okay to go off on her own, and then I just kept getting girls offering their numbers, and...ya know, I think we may actually need a nee map. One that _doesn't_ have numbers written all over it."
AVERY
Her girlfriend was so much cuter and a lot less delicate now that she was a little more grown. (She never understood why people thought babies were cute) While she still wished Maite was back to normal, this wasn't so bad if she could get away with riding in the wagon around the park. Her eyes looked up when Diego started talking about numbers. "Ohhhh someone's popular. To have a map filled with numbers? Did they all catch your eye if you're willing to keep the map? "
DIEGO
Glancing over at the sound of Avery's voice he looked confused for a bit before he shifted his gaze down _into_ the wagon. "Uh, no. If anything I'd say you and Kieran could keep it but my sisters would likely kill you...respectively. And don't think Steve won't just because she's tiny. Kid electrocuted our pet goldfish when she was this little the first time."
FLORENCIA
Her eyes looked down at the map, "Diego, get rid of that or I'll burn it." It was only because they weren't in Fallcrest that she didn't already set it on fire yet. "No one's keeping it - I don't want any of the Rendalls to come after us because Steve electricuted their baby sister."
DIEGO
"I mean, in all fairness, she'd be sadly missed, but I doubt either Rendall bro would want to risk you setting _them_ on fire if they try anything against Steve," Diego pointed out, but was already tossing the now useless map away. "I vote we just wing it, and like use those 'you are here' boards for navigating. Have an adventure!"
FLORENCIA
This really went back to her question - was she that scary? "Anyways, I guess that would be sorta the way to go.. Kieran is about to use all the places that has food as our map." She snorted, "Wait, are we also hitting up the stalls that are the same but just in different spots of the park?"
KIERAN
"I mean it's the easiest way to get seconds without having to stall through the queue at the same spot and risk boredom."
AVERY
"Kieran has this all planned out." She held the toddler close to her. "Honestly, doesn't this give y'all a whole Twilight vibe? Me, a wolf. Maite, the toddler. " With that, she nuzzled her girlfriend before giving the kid a kiss to the temple. "What are we eating first?" Avery was already prepared for this foodventure.
DIEGO
Diego nodded as Avery spoke only to reply with, "Only you would find a way to make this even more cringe- Ow!" He immediately went to rub his arm where the aforementioned toddler had zapped him. "I'm not wrong! Twifart knowledge was cringe when _you_ brought it home and it's cringe when your girlfriend references it now!" Did it matter that a grown man was arguing with a toddler while the kid sat in a wagon with grown woman? Clearly not to Diego, and honestly not to anyone else. Everyone was too invested in their own magical vacation...Except maybe Luke and Miles who did happen to give the male a witch an odd look as their group passed them by. "Sibling rivalry," was all he said, to which they both just nodded, seemingly in perfect understanding.
AVERY
"You're picking the wrong battle here." She chuckled, obviously proud of the fact that Maite zapped him and not her. Avery learned long ago that one does not mess with the women of the Velazquez household. They were quite the force - and she simply didn't want to get burnt nor zapped for the most part. "But speaking of Twilight, I would *love* it if the whole sparkling vampires were a thing. Shine bright like a diamond for reals."
DIEGO
"Oh just hit up Bridgeport Bar during Pride. You'll see all the sparkly vampires your heart could ever desire and more," he replied. It was clearly from experience, but this was something that should surprise absolutely no one. "You'll also find that you can meet various kinds of 'bears' if you manage to pick the right time of day."
AVERY
"You think I haven't been to the bar during Pride? Di. Please." She made a face, looking down at the baby. "This.. whole thing really.. highlights the fact that.. Wow, my girlfriend *really* isn't of age yet to go to the bar." She laughed before letting a yelp, grabbing her arm immediately from the sudden jolt. "Sorry, sorry."
KIERAN
"Hi! Sorry to interrupt this _riveting_ conversation, but could we possible walk and talk please? I skipped breakfast so I could speak the phrase 'Only Eating Foods at Disney World for 24-hours' and have it be _true_, and if you think an angry Ren is scary, you've never seen a _hangry_ me."
SKYLAR
She had been listening in on the group's conversation and she kept pointing in their direction. "Mommy, Mom! Dey.. Dey're going around for fooooood. Can we do dat too?!" If the girl wasn't strapped in, she would've jumped out. "I wannaaa do datttt. Dey're going ta get sooo much food!"
LUKE
Luke glanced over at Keagan immediately and said, "Looks like we're parting ways earlier than expected co-pilot. One kid wants to eat, one kid wants to check out conspiracy theories. You have have Erin as your back up, and I'm sure Izzy will let you borrow Tomie. I'll manage with Callie..." She glanced at Miles briefly and added, "For no particular reason."
KEAGAN
She gave a sigh, accepting the fact that sticking together for the day was an impossible feat especially when the girls' interests were very different from one another. She leaned in to give Miles a quick kiss on the cheeks before taking her sister out of the wagon. "Okay, we'll go with that." Keagan would love to spend more time with Miles and she was definitely looking forward to getting her daily dose of Miles cuddles later. "We'll see you guys later then." She said, not leaving before giving her fiancee a kiss.
DIEGO
The new additions to their group were more than welcome, and it didn't take long at all for them to have hit the first place for food, and while everyone was busy eating, Diego did what he does best. "Okay, so I'm going to ask what everyone is dying to know: Is it true that the twins are really, like legit, Luke's bio kids? Like what kind of cradle-robbing magic?"
KEAGAN
Keagan looked up in time to see Ren smack her brother in the arm for asking. "Did Lyra tell everyone already?" She sighed, "Yes, they are - 'legit Luke's bio kids'." The smile on her face when Sky beamed up at her, "Magic's weird as we all know."
DIEGO
He rubbed at the spot where his sister had made contact, but his face soon took on a look of concentration as the Deputy's answer sunk in. "The girls are eighteen now right? So like, that would mean that if math is still a thing, then Luke would've been seven- ow ooof!" His cry at another smack was cut short as Kieran stuffed a waffle in his open mouth.
KEAGAN
She gave the witches a grateful look for shutting up the brother. Bless him, there are times Diego reminded her of Braxton but with a little bit more aware of things - although right now, that awareness is not there. Choosing to ignore what Diego was going to say, she turned her attention to her kid and the girlfriends. "How's the food?" The question was really for anyone *other than* her own kid.
ERIN
The witch had to admit that it was quite entertaining to see the normally unfazed Keagan, tinge a bit and flail to change the subject. "If the fact that Kieran and Sky seem to be in an unspoken competition to see who can get this stall to close early first, I'd say it's great," she replied, taking a bit of her own before a cheeky grin came over her features. Waiting until exactly when Keagan had just taken a mouthful she said, "You know, it's one thing to know you're six years older than Luke and a completely different one to think about that gap eighteen years and nine months back."
KEAGAN
Somehow, it was expected that someone was not going to let the topic drop. However, she was not going to deep dive into that in the middle of the theme park, nor in front of everyone either. Keagan gave Erin a warning glare, though she doubt it was at all effective since this was her daughter's girlfriend. "I'm aware." was all she said before focusing on the two babies between Erin and her, filling up their plates with more food.
TOMI
Not even bothering to look up from her food, the girl just said, "You can't kill her, Aunty K. I would miss her too much, and Sky would never stop howling." Glancing up she shook her head and said, "And no one wants that."
SKYLAR
She looked up right at that, eye wide at her mother and then all around. "No killing Ewin! You can't kill Ewin. You love Ewin." She was part of the family now so this was a definite no-no. "We ah all here to have a good time. No killing."
LUKE
With Miles firmly strapped to her back, Luke had managed to find a way to orb into the bathroom nearest her family and slowly approach them. "Hey," she began slowly, "Everything going alright? I got sense that Sky was a little scared and that _someone else_ was feeling _scary_..."
SKYLAR
She wanted to wiggle out of her seat but the girl was strapped in so instead she motioned for Luke to come closer. Leaning in and covering her mouth to whisper as if any of that would actually stop anyone from overhearing, especially at this table. "I think mom got upset wif Ewin..."
LUKE
Luke dutifully went over and over and listened to the 'secret'. It took everything in her not to say anything in response, simply nodding and sharing a look with Miles over her shoulder. "I think it's fair to say that if we can't keep our _emotions_ in check this early on in the day, maybe it would be best to head back to the hotel..."
AVERY
She stared in awe as the situation unfolds and.. diffuse. "Did..." She started while her hand started raising to point towards the Paladin. "Did you just.. Oh my god, did you just try and *ground* Keagan?" In all her years alive, she would have never guessed that Luke had *that* much power over Keagan. "I didn't even know that was possible. Like, never in a million years did I think Keg and Ren would be like this. This is absolutely mind-blowing."
LUKE
She felt the flare up in irritation an Avery's choice of words, and calmly walked over to where she was seated. "There are so many things that _I_ didn't know were possible either until I almost died," she said, eerily calmly as she reached a hand to hover over the woman's bright Minnie-Mouse cupcake. With a subtle glow, the top of the cupcake found its way to Diego's plate, and Luke just turned to face Aves with a grin and said, "Like _that_. And you know, I'm almost certain I can do it with _anything_."
KEAGAN
"*Okay*. Enough. No one is getting killed, no one is getting *orbed away*. No one is upset with anyone." She sighed as she got Sky out of her seat so she could sit the kid on her knees. "I need a dosage of the twins." She was squeezing Sky into a tight hug while peek up over at the other twin, silently asking for a hug from her as well.
LUKE
Luke was admittedly tempted to just orb Miles over to her mother, but there were far too many people for her to get away with that, so instead, she got her out of the carrier on her back and went to go sit her on her mother's lap. "Enjoy her willingness to cooperate, because I can already feel her little 'social battery' starting to drain. Granted, not as fast as it might in such a crowd."
KEAGAN
Her face lit up even more when Luke passed Miles over to her. "Hey baby." She gave the kid a kiss on the top of her head before embracing the moment she was having with both her girls. "Thanks for endulging me." The mother wolf chuckled though she didn't budge at all from her position. "Did you have fun?" She did notice that Callie was no longer with them, but didn't say a word about it. Granted, she did trust that Luke didn't abandon her alone.
LUKE
Without missing a beat, Luke simply said, "We did have to leave Callie with Aleja and Blake. She wasn't too fond of the idea of exploring the hidden tunnels...well, she wasn't fond of the idea of exploring the hidden tunnels with the goal of ultimately finding a frozen head."
AVERY
"*Oh*.. Little Callie's stuck with the bitch baby." Whatever fear she felt a moment ago with Luke was gone already. "Poor girl.. To have to pick between that cousin of hers... and a frozen head." She grimaced before her girlfriend smacked her in the arm. The youngest Rendall immediately switched her attention back to her girlfriend, taking pictures of the toddler. "Seeing y'all as children is like.. free content from the family album." Maybe she got over the weirdness after all.
DIEGO
He really wanted to be a good boy, but his curiosity would always win out. That and he was like the only single dude in the group so he didn't have the luxury of being distracted- unless, oh wait, a very fine lady was walking over. He smiled broadly and was about to introduce himself before she beelined for the tallest person in the group. He immediately turned to look at Avery and whispered, "Should we take shelter under the table or flat-out just like runt away?"
KEAGAN
The amount of joy she had with just holding the twins in her arms. God, she just wanted to snuggle with them forever - Sky would let her, Miles... not so much. And while she wanted to continue with this bliss, someone decided to approach the group and interrupt that. She watched as the woman walked right up to Lucas - quite confidently at that too. Her brow arched up when the lady started introducing herself. "Miles, are you hungry? Did you get to eat when you were off finding frozen heads?" She shot a quick glare at Avery who muttered something along the lines of 'there might be a frozen head here soon'.
MILA
Miles leaned her head against her mom's chest, feeling oddly calm and relaxed being held by her. She wasn't one for cuddles, but sometimes a girl just needed her mom in a sea of strangers. Glancing up at the question she said, "Yes ma'am. Momma got us food. You're heart is beating awful fast for how slow you're bweathin'. Are you okay?"
SKYLAR
Taking advantage that her sister was willing to cuddle, Sky also grabbed Miles' hand as she leaned against mom herself. "Mommy's getting hit on. Mom doesn't like that." She pointed out as she looked right up at the stranger who looked pretty startled.
LUKE
Luke immediately looked over at Keagan concerned by both the twins' words. Then looked back at the other in confusion as Sky's words sunk in. "That's- no, that's not what's- Is it?" At the grin from her old friend, Luke simply scowled and said, "This is Deena, an old friend from school back when Ricky moved us to Jersey City. We haven't even talked since then so the rather cavalier approach here is, unexpected."
Moving over to rest an arm around Keagan's shoulders she then added, "Deena, this is Keagan. My _fiancé_, and these are _our_ girls, Skylar and Mila. And before you ask, yes. Same 'Keagan'. No, I will not give you any details. Enjoy your day at the park."
FLORENCIA
She leaned over to her brother and whispered, "Maybe running away might be a good plan." She watched as Luke introduced her family to the *old friend* but even when the Paladin tried to send her away, Deena didn't seem to want to step away. "..yeah.. let's uh.. go to the next food stall."
DEENA
It was hardly a secret that her old friend had done _very_ well for themselves. Even with the little extended 'hiatus' that the rest of her band had to take due to 'school' or whatever, their socials and streams were through the roof. Of course, the magical community all new what happened with the last seal being broken, so only time would tell how long the school excuse would last, but Deena figured if Lucas was at Disney, it was probably with the reverted nieces she never met...which turned out to be right, but she hadn't exactly banked on the mom of the kids being along.
"Fiancé? Well that'll be some _news_ for the fanbase. Everyone does love the work that Lyra puts in to capture your best assets," she said, trying to find a smooth way to handle _that_ curveball. "Or, well, the band's assets," she clarified looking at Keagan. "Lucas just happens to be the one we all know is guaranteed to be legal."
SKYLAR
She looked up at the lady without moving from her position. "You follow da band?" Sky asked, somewhat intrigued. "... Do you know the songs?" It was obvious to everyone that this Deena definitely only followed for Lucas - since she was literally just thirsting over the one 'guaranteed to be legal'. "Mommy, your friend is sus."
LUKE
Luke saw the intent in Deena's eyes even before she moved, and as a result when her _former_ friend took a step towards her family, she was met with the solid wall that was the paladin. "Do. Not." Was all she managed to growl out, already feeling her teeth sharpening behind her lips. Taking a deep breath to regain control, she simply stated, "I don't know what your intention in approaching me today was, but I would consider it done and dusted. Don't think that having been a friend once-upon-a-time means that I will somehow hesitate to do whatever it takes to keep you away from my family."
She thought she was ready for whatever Deena threw her way in response -what else can someone expect from a grown woman petty enough to want to attack a kid?- but the words that came from her lips next weren't quite on the list. "Don't you mean your _brother's_ family? You can tell yourself whatever you want, _Lucas_, but the truth of the matter is that in the eyes of the rest of the world, you are the little brats' _third_ parent, and who knows _what_ number of lover to their lovely mother." The sound of the slap that followed was notable, but Luke was just focused on not giving into the anger.
KEAGAN
Her grip tightened on the girls while shifting her body to protect them the instant she saw those eyes changed. As Luke warn the woman, Keagan set the girls down next to Erin and Tomi so she could have her full body being an extra wall behind Luke.
As she was settling them in, she was not prepared for what Deena said next. Before she knew it, she was already up in front of the bitch and swung her palm across the cheek. If they weren't at Disney, that would've been a punch with *all* her strength. "You do *not* get to speak to my fiancé like that. And you most certainly didn't try to approach our girls either." Her eyes glowed as she growled out her words. "I don't really care what your intentions are but you're going to take them and your ass away from us while we're still telling you *nicely*." She was tempted to toss the woman out of the park herself.
LUKE
As soon as Keagan's hand was back by the woman's side, her own hands went right into her pockets. She was still working on managing the fact her wolf traits weren't bound to a full moon, but _were_ easily influenced by her emotions. Things were made a little harder given that her current emotions were also laced by Keagan's current emotions. The anger only ebbed slightly to give way to guilt, as she felt that this was all her own doing in having befriended that woman in the first place. An irrational thought, but a logical one.
The only thing that managed to bring her back to the present moment was the sudden overwhelming _need_ to have Deena be _not_ here...and then suddenly the woman was dissipating into purple orbs of light and just like that she was gone. "I really hope that doesn't start happening _every_ time we want someone gone, because I might be orbing your sister to Timbuktu on accident."
SKYLAR
She had been holding onto the arms of both people next to her as she watched this all go down. "Mom shudda punched her harder." She mumbled, "Mommy.." She reached out for Luke, "Don't orb Aunt Lyra to Timbuktu, we might actually never see again." She chuckled and quickly pressed her lips against her mom's cheek. "Dun listen to that lady. She's bullshitting so hard." Whatever she said about her parents didn't matter to her. Luke was their mom and nothing was going to change that.
LUKE
The paladin was glad that the sudden execution of a new -at least new to her- power was enough to real in the wolf as she was able to pull her hands out of her pockets and catch the tiny tot that was inbound. "I make no promises, but if I happen to orb her there, I can promise to go get her back," Luke replied, her tone back to normal and ever jovial when speaking to the twins.
Luke gave her eldest mini-me a a good squeeze and big ol' kiss to the cheek, that stopped when there squeals heard. "I could be your tenth parent for all I care, but _you_ are, have been, and _always_ will be _my_ kids."
KEAGAN
She leaned up and gave both Luke and Sky a kiss before going back to the other girls, lifting Miles into her lap again. "You okay, baby?" She asked before her attention returned to the other half of the family. "Where did you even orb her to?" Now she was wondering if Luke could just accidentally orb someone to the bottom of the ocean. "You okay?" She asked, also feeling guilty herself because the mess she created.
LUKE
Glancing over, all she saw was Keagan pulling a toddler back onto her lap that had her hands firmly clasped over her ears. She would've been more concerned if Miles didn't keep her hands there even as she nodded at Keagan's question, and then promptly dropped her head back onto her mother's chest. Luke was already making her own way over to the pair, holding Sky out to Keagan, as the kid made grabby hands at her sister. "Uh...well....see, about that- I _think_ I orbed her back to the parking lot....but this has never really happened before with a wholeass person so, I don't really know."
Luke got distracted watching as the younger twin finally moved her hands away from her ears only to clasp her arms around her sister. The question aimed at her just made her shrug, and say, "Yeah, I'm good." Their day had been sidetracked enough.
KEAGAN
Making room for the older twin again, she visibily melted when Miles reciprocrated the cuddle. She even looked up at Luke, silently asking if she could see this as well. They really were the most precious thing in her life. Keagan immediately kissed the top of their heads again. God, too cute. "Well, whatever.. as long as she's away from us I guess." Any troubles, she'll have to figure it out herself. The audacity of that woman for threatening her family when things didn't go her way.
Keagan wasn't convinced with Luke's response but since it felt like they should move things along, she obliged. "Shall we go to our next stop then?" She didn't even know where the witches went but they seem to be on their own now.
+Cut to: Near the Water Park Entrance
DYLAN
The weather was hot. The sun was shining down on everyone, making it even more hot. Why do people enjoy theme parks? Although she had never been to one in her youth, she most likely would not enjoy it as much as she did now. The food was mediocre, there were kids everywhere. Honestly, what was the appeal?
As they walked by yet another entrance, she read the sign for its theme. "Oh.. They have a water park. I suppose we should avoid this area then?" At least that was one less area to 'explore'.
FERNANDA
Fer was very much taking advantage of the sun to help give her skin a nice glow. Granted, the same sun had made it to where she had to slather the fairer of her cousins in sunscreen to keep the poor boy from turning into a tomato. Of course all inconveniences seemed so small by comparison when she got to see the kids having the best time just getting to meet all of the mascots and see all of the different sights.
Her mood was far too high for Dylan's sour attitude to do much damage. She knew the question was less out of concern, but regardless Fer smiled at her and said, "Of course dear." She leant in to whisper, "Wouldn't want me to be claim that Disney was the first thing to get me wet in Florida right?"
DYLAN
Honestly, if there was anywhere she felt out place, it was here. There was also screaming coming in all directions (and not in the way she'd enjoy) that made her wonder how on earth was this the 'happiest place in the world'.
When Fernanda leaned in, her arm automatically slipped around the mermaid's waist - only to have the woman whisper that into her ear. A sense of challenge flashed in her eyes before she tugged the other closer to her, "You shouldn't be teasing like that, darling." She let a sigh as she looked over at a roller coaster nearby where a group of people flew by screaming again. "What .. is the appeal to roller coasters?"
FERNANDA
Never one too fond of being told what to do, the mermaid met Dylan's defiance with that of her own. Keeping her features amiable and her tone innocent she simply said, "Teasing would imply that there's no payoff, and I _always_ deliver." Once satisfied her point was made, she added, "And don't tell me what to do," before turning back to hand something off to Aunt Dee.
Glancing up at the question, she said, "It's the adrenaline rush. The sense of doing something dangerous within the confines of relative safety, but knowing the odds are never one hundred percent guaranteed to be in your favor. It's the closest mundanes will ever get to living near the Nexus and being aware of it."
DYLAN
She could only chuckle, nodding half-heartedly when Fernanda told her not to tell *her* what to do. It was starting to be a habit of letting the mermaid have the last word with every banter. "Are you speaking from experience or is that your assumption?"
She turned and grimaced at the sight of a ride where the riders looked like they might get neck pain at the end of the ride. "Oh lord, that one goes in all direction too." She muttered under her breath.
FERNANDA
"Assumption," she replied with ease as she continued to push Julian's stroller along. "My own experience in riding one would have been inherently different, and fueled mainly by the fact the ride operator said I couldn't do it." If that wasn't further proof that she didn't take orders well, the fact she took over her family business _should_ have done it.
"You know what, you're so interested in the aspect of a roller coaster, I think that we should visit a park on our own and let you have a go one. Who knows? It might be the best ride you get on this trip depending on how you behave..." A giggle could be heard from the stroller and Fer coudl only smirk in response.
DYLAN
Dylan raised a brow in question - so Fernanda never rode one either? That was somehow surprising. With the cousins and all, she figured the mermaids might have at least taken a trip to *some* theme park to ride these monstrosities.
"I'm not interested in ri-" Then the rest of the mermaid's sentence registered in her mind, leaving her - once again - somewhat speechless. The grasp this woman has on her is so unprecedented that she was thankful that Nox nor her brother was around to witness it. "You know very well that I'm not interested in the roller coaster." She cleared her throat as she continued walking.
FERNANDA
"Well, this is _your_ first time at any theme park, what _are_ you interested in...that can only be found at said theme park?" The mermaid was sure to clarify, knowing full well the can of worms she would be opening otherwise. "And don't try to be all 'above it' and claim that there's _nothing_ about Disney that you haven't been curious about, because that would be a blatant lie."
CATALINA
She peeked out of the wagon to look at the two who was blatantly flirting without caring about the world around them. However, it was indeed amusing that Dylan was behaving and getting all flustered with everything her cousin said. Who would've thought? "Dylan would probably like going to all the stores to buy merch." She voiced out before humming to think of other things, "Maybe all the shows too. Dylan would like those."
JULIAN
"Dylan would also pwababee like the games cause she's a competitive beech," piped up Julian from his own stroller. Lucky for him, Artie had made it to where the adults had already given up on reprimanding them for cursing. "Ooh, I bet she'd love to meet Awiel!"
DYLAN
The amount on self-control she had from rolling her eyes because she did not want Dee to comment on it - but of course the two younger cousins decide to 'call her out' even though she never said anything about liking Disney. "I have no idea why they'd think that - Shopping, maybe but other than that."
[D
"I'm sorry, was the boy not clear enough?" she asked rhetorically. "Forgive him, his brain is working years ahed of what his verbal skills can do, but if you'll allow me to clarify: Julian _thinks_ that you would like the carnival style games because you are a competitve _bitch_. I'm sure he didn't specify why he _thinks_ you'd like to meet Ariel, as everyone knows she's the mermaid and well..." Dee trailed off, but the look on her face said it all.
DYLAN
The emphasis did not slip her notice but one should never challenge Dee at anything. Dee and Fernanda together was quite the force; one that had Dylan speechless most the time. Instead of digging the grave deeper than she already had. "I'm fine, not attached to an animated mermaid anyways."
[D
Dee simply returned her attention to the two girls in her own wagon as she said, "Keep up the attitude and you're about to 'not be attached' to _any_ mermaid." There was no remote effort made to whisper the comment. Dee didn't do petty bullshit, that was for children and, apparently, spoiled rich demons who wanted to push their luck with a 'bad bitch' facade at Disney World.
CATALINA
She giggled when Aunt Dee finished what she had to say. Dylan always grew quiet whenever the older had the final say. Whomever thought the demon was scary definitely had never seen her like this. "Can we go play the games?" As mean as Dylan tried to be, Cat wanted to go somewhere she would enjoy.
ARTEMIS
Artie had done her best to keep to herself, but honestly everyone had a limit. "Cat, I wuv you. So much. You know dis...but we can't even weech the _counter_ for most games. Let awone pway dem. Dylan wikes direct and to the point, so _she_ should tell us what she wants to do."
DYLAN
With the entire family 'ganging up' on her, Dylan looked over to the eldest mermaid, hoping she'd help. It wasn't just because she didn't want to admit that there was *some* interest in walking around the park, but honestly, the demon didn't even know where to start. "..Shops sounds good."

🕊️: "the lost prince", 3
park seonghwa | 박성화 - 2,756 words
you didn't really know what to do. you were here, in this room. this quiet room. the silence seemed heavier than it ever did. and the only sound you could hear was her voice echoing in your head.
“fleur-de-lis...”
what did that mean? was fleur-de-lis a nickname for Seonghwa? but she never called him this way in front of you.
and what to do now? you were alone. with a sleepy boyfriend in a hospital room. doctors didn't want to tell you anything. and they needed anyone major and blood-related to him.
the world seemed to fall apart for you. and... for him. he just didn't know yet. but how were you going to tell him? impossible to barge into the room, to say something like that — was is even possible to tell him the lady he called mom all his life wasn't his mom?
you went out of the room, mentally far away from here. you were thinking about what happened. you didn't hear the doctor. you just made your way through the corridors to come back by Seonghwa's side.
he seemed to be good. he seemed to rest as he should. and you, you were here. no one to share the problem with. no one to help you finding a solution.
“baby.. what would you do if you were me..?”
you softly grabbed his hand, and rubbed it. his skin was soft. his hand was hot. the warmth you knew.
you looked up to the door when you heard someone knocking, and entering. it was a young nurse. she seemed a little bit worried.
“the doctor tried to call you after you went out of the room but... you didn't answered. is there anything..? what happened in there, with this lady? you wanna tell me..?”
you only shrugged. she was being nice to you. so sweet, as you needed. but you didn't know. you were overwhelmed by the situation.
“tell me. i'm here to heal any type of wounds.”
“it's just that.. this evening.. i waited for it for so long. i finally confessed to him. and the same night, he has a problem i don't know nothing about, i had to call the emergency department, i'm learning his mother is an impostor. does he have a family somewhere..? what if a whole family is broken because he's not by his their side and we don't know nothing about them? she told me she didn't adopt him, and she told me she had to hide her identity. and i can't believe his parents abandoned him. he is too nice... he always had been a very calm child. he could sit and wait for hours until someone allows him to move. he always had been nice to everybody. and despite him being shy, he always does whatever he can to help people around him..”
a tear started to roll down your cheek. and an another. a third one. they all fell on his hand.
“when he was a baby, until he was approximately 3, he never liked to discover the world without her mother — well, this lady... i remember a picture of him surrounded by flowers. it was new for him. and he started to cry because her mother left him here, arround flowers.”
you looked up to the nurse, tears forming into your eyes.
“he never did something bad.. why is it happening to him..? what should i do...”
the nurse quickly decided to approach you, and she hugged you tightly. you felt this is what you needed — so you started to cy harder. you needed to let everything out. you needed to stop bottling up your feelings about this.
“your boyfriend is doing good. very good. i can imagine how pure and good he is. and i can see how much you love and care about him. if he doesn't have this person as a mother by his side anymore, then it's your turn to take his hand and to help him going through this. you're the only one he has left.”
she softly wipped away your tears with her thumbs after letting you go of her arms.
“and about that problem.. i shouldn't do this but.. he was under the influence of LSD. we found out this drug in his blood. is he a drug addict?”
you frenetically shook your head.
“of course he's not! he is against all this type of things..”
“could it be possible.. someone put some in his drink or something?”
the nurse seemed to be serious as she was asking these questions.
“no. he wasn't very popular. but everybody noticed how well mannered and kind he is. he doesn't have any enemies. i'm sure about this.”
the nurse nodded, and looked down at him. she looked kinda sad, but you didn't know why.
the nurse left, and just said to call them if anything happens. of course, you nodded — but without looking at her: your eyes never left Seonghwa's sleeping form. you stayed by his side, sitting of course, looking at him, holding his hand. and you finally fell asleep, your head in his thighs. they said things look always better in the morning, and you were tired of all the emotions you had.
in the morning, when you woke up with a horrible pain in your back, you were met by Seonghwa, awake already, stroking your head lightly.
“good morning, love. and.. thank you. i don't really remember what happened yesterday at night, but.. thank you. you did take care of me and made the right decisions.”
Seonghwa's voice was so soft, and you realised that you missed it, yesterday.
you stood up, and kissed his forehead.
“shhh, Hwa.. it's okay.”
you grabbed his hand again, and held on it pretty tightly.
“how do you feel?”
“a little bit dizzy. but it's okay.”
you smiled softly, looking deep into these two dark eyes you were living for. the prettiest eyes out there. and this moment could have lasted for ever. but a knock on the door interrupted both of you.
the doctor opened the door. after a head movement to say hello, he approached Seonghwa.
“i'm glad to see you're awake. this will help us. do you have any other family members we can contact?”
“hum.. sorry what? is there a problem with my mom?”
Seonghwa looked confused. you looked up to the doctor, and slightly shook your head to tell him you didn't say anything yet.
“Hwa, baby, i.. listen to me.”
you looked back at him, and sat down on the bed, next to his legs, on the brim. you took his hand in both of yours.
“i told them about your mom, yesterday. she came. but the papers she gave... they all were fake. the numbers on it didn't match the name. an another person showed up on the system. and i talked to her after. she...”
you started again to cry. at this point, your make up was no longer visible. but it wasn't your main problem right now.
“she told me you're not her son. neither biologically nor officially. she hadn't been pregnant, you're not adopted. and she told me she had to hide her identity. that's why her papers were fake. i'm so sorry, baby...”
Seonghwa was speechless. his eyes became teary, and his hold on your hand was tighter than ever. he tried to hold back these tears, but failed. you leaned over to hug him. he hid his face in your neck, sobbing out loud. you felt your heart breaking down in million pieces. ,
“i guess it's a no..”
the doctor sighed, and walked out of the room. calling for a nurse once he was out, he whispered something to be sure you wouldn't hear him.
“call the police. this boy doesn't have family.”
once Seonghwa calmed down, you slowly pulled away, and looked deep in his eyes. you softly wipped away his tears, your eyes full of love for him.
“we will go through this together. okay?”
he only nodded, looking down at his thighs. the pain he felt in his chest, and the void he was feeling took over his dizziness at this moment.
the room stayed silent. any of you dared to break it. Seonghwa seemed to have calmed down. you weren't doubting about how he felt at this moment. and you wished it all was only a bad dream you would escape as soon as possible..
suddenly, knocks again were heard. and four policemen appeared. they all presented themselves, and of course explained why they were here. one of them turned to you, and asked you to have a private discussion. you knew they would ask you questions about all this.
you nodded, and left with two of them after kissing Seonghwa's forehead.
you took Seonghwa's jacket on your way out to cover up a little, feeling a little bit cold.
“the doctor told us you talked with this lady. is that right?”
they used a soft tone, firm enough for you to answer.
“yes, it's right. yesterday. at night.”
“who gave her number to the doctors?”
“i did, because Seonghwa was already sleeping at this moment. she raised him up like her real mom, never did anything suspicious. she tricked us all and at this moment, i wan't aware yet she wasn't his mom.”
you closed a little the jacket in front of you to try and warm up quickly, also enjoying his scent all over the fabric.
“when you talked to her, what did she say?”
the policeman who asked this question seemed to be ready to take notes about everything you could say.
“i asked to talk to her in private because doctors refused to let her see Seonghwa when they discovered her papers were fake ones. i was very surprised because usually, she's the type to be very meticulous about that. never forgetting them, always starting the steps months before the papers expires.. i mean, it just didn't match. then, the doctor gave us a room, and we talked. i asked her why her papers weren't valid, and she almost immediately said that Seonghwa wasn't her biological son, nor her official son after adoption. she also told me she had to hide her identity. and that she wanted his happiness and was ready to do anything for this.”
you played the scene in your head to be sure you were saying everything. and nothing were missing.
“did she tell anything else? something that caught your attention?”
you first shook your head while searching. but suddenly, you remembered something.
“she called Seonghwa 'fleur-de-lis', and she never called him this before. never.”
the two policemen looked at each others with eyes wide open, and then back at you.
“can you give us her phone number? and maybe an address where we can find her?”
you nodded as you gave them her phone number, and the address.
as the two policemen were ready to leave, you quickly grabbed one of them by the arm.
“wait! what will happen? and Seonghwa?”
“we will ask her few questions to try and find this boy's real family. hoping someone's still alive, and someone's still waiting for him. and until then, he must stay here.”
“what? but what if it takes months to find his family!”
you couldn't accept having to come here to see your beloved one.
“it's how it works sadly. his family didn't put him into an orphanage, that means they still have authority over him since he's not over 18. and doctors can't let him go somewhere without any parent. furthermore, in this situation, he doesn't have somewhere to go. and i guess doctors need to talk to a parent about the dose of LSD he drunk, and what they did. for all these reasons, he has to stay here. and we will do our best to find his family. i promise.”
you had no other choice but let them go. you waited longer in the corridor for the policemen to go out of the room, allowing you to come back by his side.
but while waiting, you heard Seonghwa's phone in the pocket of his jacket. you recognised the melody when someone calls him. you took it to see it was your mom calling Seonghwa. you answered quickly, thinking it might be a help.
“ah Seonghwa, you're answering! i called my daughter/son, but she/he didn't answer. is y/n with you?”
“it's me, mom.”
you went to sit on a chair. you felt like you needed to sit somewhere.
“ah, darling! that's good! i wanted to talk to you!”
you bit your lower lip. were you wrong? was she mad because you didn't come back home? did you misunderstand her smirk yesterday?
“i'm sorry to disturb your little morning with Seonghwa, i'm sure you were having fun. but i have a problem over here. can you explain me why Seonghwa's mom came and gave absolutely all Seonghwa's stuffs? and why did she leave without saying anything? what should i do with that now?”
you sighed. you knew this wasn't over. and this wasn't a dream.
“mom, hum.. it's very complex to say that right now. but.. hum.. to sum up, Seonghwa is in the hospital. and Seonghwa's mom is not his mom. so yeah. anything can surprise me anymore.”
you stood up, determined. you couldn't stay like that.
“okay. listen. i'll leave the hospital and come home. i'll change my clothes, and start looking after his parents. no way i'm staying passive. this is a fucking nightmare...”
you hung up with your mom, and came back into Seonghwa's room. he was patiently waiting for you to come back.
“baby, i'm sorry but i need to leave. your mom, well so-called mom, dropped all your stuffs at my place. i'll go there to change myself, and i'll do whatever i can to find your real family. i'll came back by the end of the day with clothes for you.”
as you were collecting your stuffs, and letting his stuffs here since you decided to keep his jacket on shoulders, Seonghwa called you.
“promise me to be careful. and.. promise to stay by my side whatever happens.”
“i promise, baby. i promise i'll be careful. and i won't never leave you. never.”
when you were about to leave, Seonghwa held you back by your hand. he sat up and softly kissed you. it was your first kiss together. you hoped your first kiss would hold pure love and attention. but this first kiss seemed to symbolise something else: a fear. his fear to lose you. your y/n. the only thing he had left.
you pulled away from this kiss before being overwhelmed by it and starting to cry. you whispered a 'i love you', and left, heavy-hearted. you called for a taxi, not really in the mood to take the public transports dressed up like that.
when you reached your home, after paying the taxi, you saw your mom holding the last bags to put them inside your house. you quickly went to your room to change yourself in comfortable clothes. when you came back to the living room, your phone in your hand, your mom almost immediately held you back.
“and what do you want to do? scream around for a family looking for a child?”
“please mom. things are complicated already. take this seriously. i'll go around the city to try and ask questions about him. i have few informations already, but i need more elements to have a trail.”
you went to the kitchen to grab something to eat, something you could eat easily while walking.
“i can help you. but you gotta give me pictures of him younger and tell me all you know.”
you nodded, and immediately took out your phone to send pictures of Seonghwa.
“the first pictures of him he has are pictures of him when he was 15 months. maybe this is when she started to take care of Seonghwa. meaning we're searching a family who lost a baby between 12 and 15 months. and she called him fleur-de-lis. it's not common as a way to call a child. maybe someone know something about this. by chance.”
“wait! what? he is fleur-de-lis?”
your mom seemed to be very shocked about what you told her. and as you nodded, she sat down.
she then whispered:
“fleur-de-lis is back... finally...”

Bend to Live | Chapter Three
Genre: Bending AU, BTS AU
Rating: 18+
Pairing: fire bender!jungkook x water bender!reader, none bender! Yoongi x fire bender!Jimin, none bender!OC x air bender!Namjoon
Word count: ~5k
Summary: You were one of the mightiest water benders. In one of your fights, you caught the attention of a mighty fire bender. And with that, your journey around the world began.
A/N: I am so sorry for keeping you waiting for so long. I have finally finsihed the chapter and I really hope, that you enjoy it. :3 If you want to be added to the taglist, please send me an Ask so I have an easier overview of everyone.
By now, the others and you left the northern water tribe two days ago and Lynn slowly loosed her strength from flying for so long. She absolutely needed a break to get everyone safely to the southern air temple.
And you? You were still motionless. Louise took care of your wound by cleaning it every eight hours and changing the bandages. Jeongguk meanwhile didn’t leave your side even as he was asleep. He was too afraid of leaving and realising that your injury has gotten worse while he was gone. The events caused an intense paranoia. He was so scared that maybe, your wound wouldn't heal properly. Maybe you couldn't bend anymore after that?
“Kookie, we know you’re scared to shit since you saw the dagger in her leg but you need to sleep more than the minimum you need. Your bending weakens from it and it would make you incapable of protecting her if something like this happens again while she's still injured,” Yoongi said quietly to him while everybody else was eating.
“But I want to be awake when she wakes up. She needs somebody on her side if it gets worse and to help her if needed,” he mumbled and looked at his bowl full of food. He didn’t eat much in the last few days either. He somewhat was incapable of doing it. His sorrows eating up his whole mind. There wasn't enough space to remind him of eating properly.
“And I understand that. I would be in the same position if something happened to Jimin. But you would be the one to tell me that I need to focus on myself more to keep him safe. I'm not trying to undermine your current situation. I just want to help you to be capable of protecting her,” Yoongi explained and Jeongguk nodded.
“I sleep a bit after I finished. Thanks, Yoongi,” he said and kept on eating. Yoongi nodded at that and went back to eating, too.
Silently, everybody was eating again. They all waited for you to wake up so Louise could treat your wound better and so she knew how you were feeling. They wanted to make a stop at the next city nearby to grab some medicine and to give Lynn a well-deserved break. It was a little port city with a few fields and rivers to relax nearby. All in all, it was beautiful there.
As soon as Jeongguk finished eating, he laid down next to you and took your hand in his. He looked at your sleeping figure and nibbled on his lip. You needed to wake up soon. You had to eat and regain your strength so your wound would heal properly. With that in his mind, he closed his eyes and slowly drifted into a light slumber.
“I think he is exaggerating,” Taehyung mumbled and Jimin slapped his shoulder.
“And you’re an asshole, Tae. Put yourself in his position. I’m sure, you would have reacted the same way,” Jimin said hushed. Taehyung just rolled his eyes, crossed his arms over his chest and looked away.
“We’ll be arriving soon. Start packing everything in bundles so Tae and I can easier get everything off Lynn’s back,” Namjoon ordered and everyone followed his instruction while you and Jeongguk were still asleep.
After an hour, everything was off of Lynn's back. Just Jeongguk and you remained on it, still sleeping. Everybody else meanwhile had set up camp and Louise and Namjoon just headed off to the city to look for a healer or some medical supplies.
“How about we catch some fish for dinner, Yoongi?” Jin asked him.
“No, thanks. Jimin and I wanted to go take a dip in the river. Later maybe,” Yoongi answered, lifted Jimin and carried him to the river while Jimi was a giggling mess. Taehyung looked after them and felt an ugly feeling bubbling in his stomach.
“Would you come along then, Tae?” Jin asked. Taehyung turned to look at him. He already opened his mouth but got interrupted by Hoseok.
“I’m sorry, Jin, but Taehyung and I wanted to work on his earth bending,” he said, grabbed Taehyung’s hand and dragged him after himself. Jin was left alone, fishing rut in his hand. He sighed deeply and threw a concerned look to Lynn, Jeongguk and you. With another sigh, he left to the river to catch some fish.
Shortly after, Jeongguk slowly woke up and stretched out a little. He sat up and ruffled through his hair. Looking around, he took in the scenery around him and smiled lightly. Namjoon really decided on a beautiful place for a good days rest.
Suddenly, Jeongguk noticed a shift next to him. He turned around to look at you and smiled brightly as he saw you shifting in your spot.
“Y/N? Are you awake?” he asked.
“Wished I wasn’t,” you mumbled barely audible and laid an arm over your face. Jeongguk smiled lightly at that.
“At least you’re awake now. You should eat something and we’ll get your wound cleaned up again. Louise and Namjoon are in a city nearby, looking for some medicine or even a healer,” Jeongguk explained.
“I’m a healer myself. I don’t need medicine or a healer. And I can feel a river nearby,” you mumbled and tried to sit up. Jeongguk rushed over and helped you up.
“Let me get you off of here,” Jeongguk said and tried to lift you as soft as possible. You whimpered because the movement caused a light pain in your leg.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” he mumbled and scooted over to the edge of Lynn’s saddle. You bent some water over and made a slide out of ice. Jeongguk chuckled at that.
“What? It would get me down safer. I don’t want to have more pain than necessary,” you explained.
“Oh, you don’t trust me at that?” he said, throwing his legs over the edge.
“It’s not that I don’t trust you. You saved my life. But you can’t make a slide out of fire. It’s just that my way is more convenient,” you said and giggled as he slid down, hissing afterwards because your leg moved in a bad way causing your wound to stretch. Jeongguk slowly lifted you again and carried you to the camp.
“We’re sleeping under the sky?” you asked as he carefully put you down on a sleeping bag.
“No, we’re sleeping underneath the earth,” Jeongguk responded. You looked over at him and raised an eyebrow.
“Silly question, silly answer,” he simply said. You rolled your eyes at that and got yourself comfortable. You slowly shifted your weight on your left leg and started to unwrapped your leg.
“What are you doing?” Jeongguk asked and watched you carefully.
“Treating my wound. What blood type do you have?” you answered. Your stomach dropped to the ground as you saw the wound and it felt like you were about to throw up. And if you had eaten already, you surely would.
“It looks better than yesterday. And I have blood type A,” Jeongguk mumbled and you quickly bent some water over the wound.
“Thank you,” you said and slowly tried to heal your wound. Tears shot in your eyes at the pain that shot through your veins. You whimpered quietly after a few seconds and bent the water away.
“No use! I need blood,” you fussed and ran your hands through your hair.
“What’s the problem?” Jeongguk suddenly asked and wrapped a new bandage around your wound again.
“I need blood of type B to create a tissue. This tissue will be put in my wound and with additional water bending the wound would heal within a few hours completely,” you explained and hissed as he pressed onto the wound too hard.
“I’m sorry,” Jeongguk mumbled. “I don’t think any of us has blood type B. Maybe someone at the southern air temple has it.” You nodded and got yourself comfortable again as soon as Jeongguk finished. He shuffled a little through the supplies they had packed and grabbed you something to eat.
“Here, eat. You need the energy. It’ll take a few more days until we’re at the air temple and your body has to go through it,” he said as he handed you the food. You grabbed the bowl and slowly began eating. Jeongguk watched you for a while and then looked over to Jimin and Yoongi who were happily playing in the water. You followed his gaze and smiled lightly.
“Do they have a relationship with each other?” you asked Jeongguk and he nodded.
“But I have to say it is nothing official. I guess they’re both too afraid to admit their feelings for each other. The air nomads were the only ones who accepted same-sex love. The water tribe is still really controversial about this topic while in the earth kingdom and the fire nation same-sex love slowly gets more and more accepted. Therefore, they're only showing their feelings for each other when they're sure that no one would harass them for that,” he said. You nodded, laying your finished bowl aside. Jeongguk laid it next to the fireplace and helped you laying down.
“Thank you,” you mumbled and closed your eyes. Slowly, you drifted back to sleep. Jeongguk kept on sitting next to you and watched over you. He still had to make sure that nothing happened to you, even though your condition slowly improved.
After a few hours, Louise and Namjoon came back from their trip to the city. As soon as Louise saw you laying on a sleeping bag, she flooded Jeongguk with questions. He explained to her that you needed someone with the blood type B to donate his or her blood because you could heal yourself properly with that. Sadly, Louise didn’t have that blood type either so it would take a few more days until you could heal your wound; until you could maybe heal your wound.
“So, what is our next step?” Namjoon asked. “We didn’t find a good healer in the city who could treat Y/N's wound.”
“We have to hope that somebody at the southern air temple has blood type B,” Jeongguk explained. Both Louise and Namjoon nodded, sat down and looked over the shopping.
“Hey, you made it off Lynn. How’s Y/N?” Yoongi said as he and Jimin came back from the river, soaking wet.
“She’s alright. Wound looks a little better but we need someone with the blood type B. Y/N could heal herself with that blood properly,” Jeongguk repeated himself. Yoongi nodded and looked around for Jin, laying an arm around Jimin’s hips and pulling him closer to his side. Jimin giggled and hugged Yoongi from the side.
“Jin is still fishing. We met him on our way here. He is a little stream downwards,” Namjoon said as he realized who Yoongi was looking for. Yoongi nodded, pressed a kiss on Jimin’s cheek and walked over to Jin to help him fishing. Jimin’s cheeks and ears were flushed red as he sat down next to you.
“Why don’t you just kiss and make love to each other?” Louise asked overly excited which made clear that she said that as a joke. But Jimin still hid behind his hands and mumbled “leave me alone” through them. Everybody laughed, catching the attention of Taehyung and Hoseok who were still training. Taehyung looked over to you and as he saw you laying on the ground sleeping, he stopped the training and hurried over to the group.
“Why isn’t she on Lynn’s back?” he asked as soon as he kneeled next to your sleeping figure.
“Because I helped her down,” Jeongguk said.
“I hope that you didn’t hurt her at all while doing it,” Taehyung hissed and Jeongguk furrowed confused his eyebrows.
“I tried to but it was difficult. She had some little pain but it wasn’t more than necessary.”
“What?!” Taehyung growled.
“Okay, calm down, Taehyung. She wanted to get off of Lynn and she knew that she would be in pain. She even helped me carrying her down by bending an ice slide. So don’t be mad at me. She wanted it that way,” Jeongguk hissed and in his eyes burned fire. Taehyung backed off a little.
“I swear if you hurt her again-“
“What is your fucking problem, Taehyung? Stop acting like you fucking own her. She is just your water bending teacher and she’ll survive this. She’s strong,” Jeongguk said angrily and stood up. Taehyung stood up also.
“Maybe she’s just my bending teacher but I rely on her. Don’t underestimate that.”
“Stop, arguing. Nobody can sleep with this much noise,” you suddenly said and both men looked down where you laid between them.
“I’m sorry,” Taehyung mumbled and stepped aside.
“It’s alright,” you said, sat up and brought your hand up over your mouth to hide your yawn. Taehyung sat down next to Jimin who quickly locked eyes with him.
“We have fish!” Jin shouted as he and Yoongi came back from the river. They both stopped in their tracks as they felt the weird atmosphere.
“Is everything okay?” Yoongi asked slowly and everybody nodded simultaneously. He just shrugged and helped Jin preparing dinner. Louise and you fell into some mindless chatter like everybody else. Jeongguk and Taehyung in the meantime avoided each other and tried to talk as little as possible.
The next morning, Lynn was well enough to continue the flight. Everyone got their things packed and Namjoon helped you up on the bison's back. You enjoyed the flight to the southern air temple while you were awake. Luckily, it was most of the time. The feeling of the salty air ruffling through your hair put you at ease and you somehow forgot about the open wound you still had in your right thigh.
As you landed on the southern air temple, you smiled. It was beautiful there and you could feel the spiritual energy that floated in the air. Namjoon helped you off of Lynn’s back again and as everything was off of her she flew away to spend some time with the other bison. Taehyung quickly made his way over to you to help you stand straight.
“Thank you, but I can take care of myself,” you said, bent some water out of thin air and created two ice crutches to support yourself. He turned a little red and you chuckled.
“Remember, Taehyung. If you believe you’re incapable of something, you’ll never learn how to do it,” you said with a cheeky wink and made your way over to Namjoon who was talking to another air bender.
“Good, you’re here. We have somebody with blood type B. We can arrange everything so you can heal yourself as soon as possible,” Namjoon told you.
“That sounds like a good idea,” you said nodding and smiled.
“Follow me please,” the air bender said and headed for one of the buildings. You followed him as quickly as you could with the ice crutches. Even though they were really solid, you had to make sure they didn't break while you walked after him. He led you to an empty room with just a bed and a dresser.
“Everything you’ll need afterwards or during it is in the dresser. Some water is in the bowl on it. If you have anything that you’ll need additionally, just ask,” he said and left shortly after. You got yourself comfortable on the bed and mentally prepared yourself. As soon as that was finished, you slowly unwrapped your leg from the bandages, swallowing thickly as you saw the wound. You quickly cleaned and disinfected it so it wouldn't get infected in any process. You hissed because of the pain caused by the germicide, which also caused tears to shot in your eyes. You quickly removed your tears and took a deep breath.
‘You could do this. You’ll just create a tissue now, put it in, heal your wound so the tissue is fixed and then take a break,’ you thought to yourself. Suddenly, someone knocked at the door and you flinched at that, causing more pain to shot through your veins.
“Yes?” you said after a few seconds and Louise stepped in.
“Hey, how are you doing?” she asked and sat down next to you.
“Alright. It’s a little nerve-wracking waiting for the blood,” you admitted and she smiled at you.
“Of course it is,” she said. “But I’m sure it’ll be here soon. Should I assist you a little? I may not have healing powers like you but I can get you everything you’ll need.”
“I would be grateful for that. Thank you,” you responded and hugged her. She hugged you back and together, you waited for somebody to bring the blood. As soon as it was there, you bent it out of the bowl and concentrated really hard to create a thin tissue out of it. As it was finished, you bent it into your wound, laid it on the open flesh and slowly began to use your healing powers to close the wound slowly.
“How do you think is she doing?” Jeongguk asked Namjoon as they watched the baby bison playing around.
“Who? Y/N? I’m sure she’s doing fine. You know how powerful she is,” Namjoon responded and turned around to face the younger man.
“I know, I know. I’m still a little concerned. She’s been away for over an hour. Does it really take so long?” Jeongguk said.
“Maybe she’s sleeping to regain some power. This procedure is probably really exhausting and since her wound is really big, it’ll take some time. Don’t worry too much, Guk. She’ll be alright,” Namjoon replied and put a hand on the other one’s shoulder. He gave it a light squeeze and went off to look for Lynn. Jeongguk sighed and walked over to the babies so they could calm him a little.
Another hour passed by until Louise came out of a building. You followed her shortly after. The first thing Jeongguk noticed, was that the crutches were gone. As soon as Jeongguk saw you, he came rushing towards you.
“Hey, how are you?” he asked. You smiled at him. Then he noticed that you were still limping a little with your right leg but apart from that you looked perfectly healed.
“I’m nearly completely healed. The rest can do my body on her own,” you said and looked around. Jeongguk smiled at that and felt how relieved washed over him. Finally, you were in a good shape again.
“Oh. Sweet. Spirits. Are those baby bison?” you squealed and rushed over to the playground with them. They instantly let you pet them and you never were happier. Jeongguk watched you fondly from afar. But the smile turned into a frown as soon as he saw Taehyung approaching you.
“You reek of jealousy, fire bender,” Louise said.
“Leave me alone. It’s not even that obvious,” he responded, crossing his arms and she laughed half-heartedly.
“Yeah, sure. But I still noticed,” she shrugged. “Just don’t let her notice it as long as you want to keep your feelings hidden.” Jeongguk nodded and Louise walked off, searching for Namjoon.
“Taehyung! Good to see you. Since I’m fully healed we can keep going with your training,” you said as soon as you saw him. Taehyung nodded.
“Nearby is a waterfall with a lake. We can train there,” Taehyung suggested.
“No, we need an arena. I want to test how confident you are in your bending,” you responded.
“The air temple don’t have arenas. You know that the nomads don’t fight for fun. Just for self-defence,” he said.
“Shit, you’re right. I guess we have to just keep on training normally then. But as soon as we come near an arena, we’re testing your confidence,” you said and followed Taehyung who was walking to the lake with the waterfall. You took a deep breath as the both of you arrived.
“Due to the… special circumstances of the past few days, I am sure you didn’t train your water bending, did you?” you said.
“Well, I tried to but it didn’t work that well. I need your help,” Taehyung admitted. You nodded and walked into the lake.
“To be honest, I’m just helping you if it is really needed. I learned all of my bendings by myself. Every water bending master refused to train me, so I had to do it on my own. And since you’re way more powerful than me, I’m sure you can do it on your own,” you said. You turned around and watched him walking into the lake, too.
“Do you really believe that I’m that powerful?” he asked.
“Yes, the key to unlocking your powers is to believe in yourself. The only one who stops you from it is you. My job will mainly be that I’ll encourage you to believe in yourself. Of course, I’ll show you the technics, but nothing else. So, bend the water,” you said. Taehyung nodded, concentrated and started bending the water. He managed to get a whole litre of water out of the lake and let it swirl around in the air.
“Good job, Tae! You’re doing amazing. So, now, bend it around me. It isn’t allowed to touch me,” you instructed. Taehyung did as said and mastered it amazingly. You nodded approvingly and let him do it a few times more.
“Do you feel the energy that flows within the water?” you asked. Taehyung shook his head and bent the water back in the lake.
“Okay, then I’ll teach you that,” you responded and bent a chunk of water out of the lake.
“I’ll bend the water to you. You’ll take it and bend the water back to me. I want you to focus on the water,” you instructed and bent the water in Taehyung’s direction. He took it and bent it back to you. This went on for a few minutes until Taehyung bent the water frustrated back in the lake.
“It doesn’t work! How am I supposed to feel it?” Taehyung asked.
“You’re a born earth bender, right?” you said which Taehyung responded to with a nod.
“When you bend a pillar out of the ground, how does this feel?”
“I can feel the ground underneath me and know exactly how deep the bendable ground goes.”
“Try to copy that understanding of your earth bending and apply it on your water bending.” With that, you took a huge amount of water and splashed it onto him, so he was completely surrounded by water. You kept on doing this until Taehyung managed to work against your bending and splashed it back to you. You bent it into the lake and smiled at him.
“Good job! Did this work?” you said and smiled knowingly.
“It did. I can feel the energy of the water now,” he responded.
“Okay, keep on training. I’ll be showing you some more technics tomorrow. It’s important that you first deepen your feeling for water,” you instructed while walking out of the lake. You dried yourself off by bending the water off of your body.
“Alright, Sifu Y/N, I’ll be training,” he said and saluted. You chuckled and waved him goodbye while going back to the main temple and looking around to find somebody you know. You enjoyed the soft breeze in your hair while walking around. You spotted Namjoon and Louise standing by Lynn and playing with her and some baby bison. You smiled fondly at their interaction.
Suddenly, you felt a stronger breeze ruffle through your hair. You looked around and spotted Jeongguk who waved at you. You walked over to him and looked worried in the sky.
“Is everything alright?” he asked you.
“Yes, everything’s okay. The wind is just picking up. Maybe a storm is coming?” you responded and stopped in front of him.
“A storm? But the air isn’t filled with electricity. I’d feel that,” he said and furrowed his eyebrows confused.
“Hm… That’s weird. Should we go grab something to eat?” you asked and completely changed the topic with that. He nodded and you walked inside. You searched for a while until you found a place where you could get something to eat. Jeongguk and you took something and began eating.
“Taehyung told me about an old tale of the water tribe and I wanted to ask you what it was about. He couldn’t quite place it together again,” Jeongguk suddenly said. You stopped in your movement and looked confused at him.
“Which one?” you managed to bring out with your mouth full of food.
“It was something with a fifth spirit?” he said enquiring. You quickly chewed and swallowed.
“The legend says that there are four spirits. Each of them resembling the elements. The spirits are formed out of the elements themselves. The core of the legend is that a fifth spirit exists. One that holds the power to tame every single one of them and works hand in hand with the Avatar. Sadly, that fifth spirit hasn’t come out for the past few decades so no one knows if it still exists. And even the spirits of the elements hasn’t been seen lately,” you explained.
“So the fifth spirit is what exactly?” Jeongguk asked.
“I don’t know it actually. It is not like it could bend all four elements, that’s only something the Avatar can do. I don’t even know what power it possesses. I just know that it is really powerful,” you answered and put your empty plate away.
“And why does it work together with the Avatar?” Jeongguk asked again.
“Well, it is said that the Avatar is the bridge between the spirit world and our world. But a bridge usually has two ends, hasn’t it?” you said and smiled at him.
“Why are you so interested in it anyway? It’s a legend. Even though I am very connected with my culture and legends, this is the only one I do not believe in.”
“I thought it sounded interesting. Never heard of it before so I wanted to know more,” he responded. You nodded.
“Understandable. Should we go outside again and watch the baby bison? They are sooo cute,” you suggested. Jeongguk quickly finished his plate, put it aside and went with you outside. Outside, many nomads ran around the place and you furrowed your eyebrows confused.
“What is going on?” you asked Namjoon as you saw him.
“A blast blew some bison with their children away. The wind is getting stronger and stronger and we’re trying to keep the bison safe,” he explained and rushed away. Jeongguk and you shared a fast glance and immediately started helping out. As soon as the bison were safe, the wind’s intensity picked up and you watched some leaves fly around in the air. You tilted your head as you realized that the leaves weren’t from the temple’s trees and it seemed like none of them got away. Suddenly, the stripe of leaves came rushing towards you and you protected yourself with a wall of ice.
“Y/N! What are you doing?!” Jeongguk shouted out to you but you couldn’t answer. It seemed like the stripe of leaves were attacking you and you tried your best to protect yourself.
“What the fuck is going on?” Namjoon asked Jeongguk as he saw you fighting with nothing.
“I don’t know,” Jeongguk responded. Taehyung rushed towards you but a blast pushed him back. He tried again and again but another blast always pushed him back.
Meanwhile, you were still fighting with the wind but you were slowly pushed to the edge due to the pain in your leg. It was still not healed completely and the muscle clearly needed some therapy. A light panic rose in your chest as your feet touched the edge. It took one last gust of wind and you fell off of the cliff. You screamed and bent some water around you to protect yourself from getting hurt. It took you a few seconds until you realized that you weren’t falling anymore. You were floating in the air. As you realised that, you bent the water away to see what was going on. Leaves formed a human-like form in front of you and your eyes widened in realisation.
“You-you're the spirit of the wind,” you mumbled. The leaves nodded and formed some lettering in the air.
“We need your help… who is we?” you read out loud. The leaves were moving again.
“The spirits of the four elements? Why do you need my help?” You waited patiently until you could read something again.
“I should help the Avatar until the fifth spirit awakes? So it does exist? That’s amazing! What do I have to do?” You waited again.
“I should find the source of the power and then, you’ll let borrow me it. So where’s the power source?”
‘We don’t know. It’s a secret hidden in the legends and only the fifth spirit should find it. But I’m sure, you can find it, too. Prove yourself to the water spirit and then, you’ll find it.’
“Wait, but how do I find the water spirit?” You felt yourself rise.
“NO! Don’t go. I have so many questions you need to answer. Why me?”
‘You are an extraordinarily powerful bender who can possess that power for a while. Make sure you are a good replacement.’ And with that, you shot up in the air and landed on the ground in front of the temple.
“Y/N!” Jeongguk shouted as he saw you and rushed with the others towards you.
“What happened? Are you alright?” Louise asked and hugged you tightly.
“I’m okay,” you said and shrugged her off of you. You were extremely annoyed by that spirit who had the audacity to leave you with so many questions and not a single answer.
“Y/N, what happened? Why did leaves attack you?” Jeongguk asked worriedly.
“Turns out those leaves were the fucking spirit of the wind. The legend I told you about an hour ago? It’s real,” you said. “The only legend I didn’t believe in turns out to be fucking real.”

MAIN MASTERLIST
[Received, 06.10.2020] | one | previous | next
"Have you packed everything?"
You stood up properly when a hand grabbed your luggage from your hand, easily carrying it, you look up to see Seokmin grinning at you wiggling his eyebrows and you smiled nodding at him enthusiastically.
Your school had planned a 2 days 1 night trip to Seoul and you were keeping your luggages at the trunk of the bus you were assigned to.
"That's great, I'm really excited for this trip."
He looked extra handsome because of the glow on his face, he was really excited and so you were. It was your first time going out to a long trip that your parents had agreed to and you were really thankful to all your friends who helped you take their permission.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's get inside the bus."
You put the luggage hurriedly in the trunk and made a run inside the bus, Seokmin following behind shaking his head at your excited state.
You sat not so far from the back with Zeny while Andie and Jane shared a seat just behind you. Seokmin made his way towards you and sat beside Mingyu who was seated on the seat adjacent to yours.
You informed your parents that you safely reached in the venue and were currently on the bus ride with others and leaned on your seat in a more relaxing position.
It had been nearly an year since you had started dating Seokmin and everything was going on really fine. You never had any fights with him although there were many hurdles which came along the journey of you two but you were glad to have him by your side.
You jolt up from your seat, your attention which was previously on Zeny showing something funny on her phone to come face to face with Jun who was looking down at you from where he was sat in front of your seat.
You smacked his forehead and he winced, rubbing the area where you had hit him and pout at you.
"Yah y/n throw your mobile away and interact."
He complained about how you and Zeny were in your own world and weren't enjoying with others since its supposed to be a trip to bond with other student well and develop a good team.
"Okay okay stop complaining I'm all in."
You put your hands up in surrender and he laughed at you, ruffling your hair and pinching your cheeks cooing how cute you look when you were annoyed.
You swat his hands away, your eyes unconsciously trailing towards Seokmin who was seated on your adjacent seat with pouty lips and narrowed eyes.
Your smile faded being completely aware that his jealousy might have been kicking in. He didn't like you hanging out with Jun ever since he shamelessly declared his love for you even after knowing that you were dating Seokmin.
Everyone had warned you that Jun was a bad news for your relationship but ever since you had started dating Seokmin, Jun had always accompanied you and hung out with you since you shared all of the classes together so both of you were pretty close at this point.
Jun's feelings for you were the first hurdle yours and Seokmin's relationship came across, both of you had taken a break from your relationship to give each other spaces and time to figure out what to do.
You eventually got back with him and kept your distance with Jun but you still hung out with him since he was really chill about his feelings and never really made you feel like you were leading him on, you made it very clear to him that you're loyal to seokmin and wouldn't entertain any ill behaviour.
You even asked Seokmin if it was okay for you to do that and if he wouldn't have agreed you would have left hanging out with Jun, it wasn't like you ever hung out alone with him so that wasn't a problem.
"Are you okay?"
You asked him as you looked at him concernly to which he shook his head and relaxed turning his whole body sideways so he could have a better look at you.
"I'm fine, you are paying attention to everybody but me."
"But I was talking with you from like past 2 hours?"
"It isn't enough." he whined making you close your eyes momentarily to avoid saying anything meaner to him.
"Why are you behaving so clingy towards y/n, let them enjoy Seokmin, the trip is supposed to be them bonding with everyone and not your honeymoon."
Seokmin glared at Jun who just shrug in turn and grabbed your water bottle from your lap taking a sip.
You got into the horrow show room inside the lotte world, feeling relieve once you settled in your given seats along with Jane, Andie and Zeny. You were feeling a bit dizzy due to constant travel.
The show started and you sat crossed leg on your seat, your body running cold.
"I'm feeling a bit weak."
You confessed to Andie who was sitting right beside you, she gave you a concerned looked before asking Jane for a bottle of water and making you drink some of it.
The show ended but you couldn't shake of the dizziness so you got out of the room with the girls help and call out for your incharge teacher who was with other students walking ahead.
"Mrs Jang, I'm feeling a bit dizzy do you happen to have any medication for it since mine is inside the bus?"
Mrs Jang looked at you worried, hand going to your forehead to feel your body temperature but before she could do anything else your eyes rolled back and your body went limp but you didn't fall.
The last thing you remember was Mrs Jang informing everyone to continue enjoying the rides and Seokmin giving you a concerned look with teachers pushing him away from where you were and Jun holding you in his arms as he begged you to keep your eyes open.
You opened your eyes after what felt like eternity as you came face to face with Jun and Jane looking at you.
"You're finally awake."
Jane sighed in relief as she clasped her hands together thanking God that you woke up. Jun's hand made its way towards the back of your neck and he helped you sit up properly.
"Still dizzy? The doctor here gave you an IV drop."
"I'm perfectly fine just a little bit weak but I can handle it now, it'll get better."
You smiled thanking him for staying by your side instead.
"I asked Mrs Jang to volunteer to be with you since she had responsibilities to look after all of the students and Jane here was scared to ride so she too stayed for you."
You nodded at the information feeling guilty that it was because of you he had to abandon his chance of enjoying. Jun must have seen your worried face as he tapped your shoulder with his as he whispered.
"Hey don't feel sorry, I would always choose to hang out with you more than anything."
You just pushed him away scrunching your nose at his playful banter. The rest of the day was spent with Jun as Jane got distracted by the plushies at the stores but she did gave Jun an earful before making him promise to never leave your side.
You were clicking pictures with Jun when you heard Seokmin's voice from the distance with him running where you were.
"Breathe."
You told him as soon as he stopped in front of you panting. Jane told you how he wanted to stop but since Jun and her were already by your side the teachers told him to just go with others not wanting everyone to huddle up with you not enjoying the trip.
For Seokmin to stay either of them had to leave you and Jun wasn't ready to leave your side and Jane concluded it would be a disaster to leave you alone with Jun and Seokmin.
"Are you feeling better? Do you need any help? Want me to take you to nearby bench where you can just enjoy the scenery in peace?"
"If you were that worried might as well have stayed by their side instead of going around enjoying different rides with Mingyu, Eunwoo and others."
Seokmin straightened up glaring at Jun knowing all well what really happened and if it wasn't for Jun's stubborn ass he would have been by your side all day.
"Come on guys stop it and Seok its alright I'm fine you don't have to worry just enjoy the rest of the day I'm fine alone too, Jun you too."
The rest of the trip was a blurry haze to you with Seokmin being way too overprotective and possessive of you and Jun trying his all to piss him off.
You were getting tired because unlike before Seokmin wasn't letting you spend any time alone even with your friends and was always by your side which made you irritated.
The first thing you told Seokmin when you decided to accept going out with him was for him to give you your space and he was doing just opposite of it.
You heaved a sigh as you washed your face in the restroom since you were asleep longer due to your health. Whole night Seokmin didn't leave you alone hissing and groaning whenever anyone came towards you so every thing was practically you and Seokmin on one side and rest of the students on others.
He allowed only Jane, Zeny and Andie to be with you and at some point they left too, when you suggested them, feeling awkward being with Seokmin constantly.
You were angry at yourself, at your health and especially at Seokmin for being so sensitive. You got out of the restroom drying your face and locking the room.
"How's the mood?"
You turn around to see Jun leaning against the wall opposite to your room, he pushed himself off it and made his way towards you.
"I'm fine."
"You must be very frustrated since Seokmin was practically glued to you after yesterday's incident cause I know you don't like such behaviour."
"I'm really fine Jun, yes I'm frustrated and I might snap at some point soon but he can't be behaving like that everytime I talk with anyone."
Jun could sense how frustratsd you've become since yesterday and he was actually scared of what was going to unfold for Seokmin once he come back to his senses.
Everybody in the school knew how you prioritized your comfort and peace before anyone else and how you don't flinch in cutting anyone off if they ever do something which is opposite of your comfort.
"Hey just take a deep breath and chill okay?"
Jun's voice was gentle as he motioned you to take deep breathes to avoid getting frustrated, he tucked a strand of your disheveled hair being your ear smiling at you.
"I'll go ahead come down soon."
With that he left you and made his way down the stairs only to bump with Seokmin at the head of the stairs. Jun shrugged before continuing his way as Seokmin made his way towards you.
"Seok?"
You questioned as he didn't stop and continued walking closer to you pinning you onto the wall as he held your hands up against the wall.
Your breath hitched at the close proximity since this was the first time anyone had ever come this close to you and you didn't like the feeling since you knew he was doing all of this just out of jealousy.
"You're never going to leave me right?"
"Don't you trust me?"
"How should I? You never know what goes inside that mind of yours."
It had been a while since you felt so confusingly angry at someone. You had been dating him for nearly a year only for him to say he isn't sure if you will stay by his side or not? It was like he was accusing you of cheating.
"If you aren't sure let's just cut it here then."
You pushed him off already feeling your head throbbing due to frustration and anger all towards a said boy.
He grabbed your hand pulling you back against his chest locking you in his arms so you wouldn't escape while you tried your best to push him off. He leaned down kissing your neck clumsily making you feel even more disappointed and disgusted at him.
Everyone was downstairs eating breakfast and even if anyone were in their room you didn't want to create a scene in the middle of your trip.
He released you when you slapped him across his face, you weren't comfortable with such behavior and he should've respected your privacy before doing anything like that but he let his emotions take the best of him.
He stood there for a good ten seconds holding his cheeks before he came back to his senses. His face full of horror as he looked in your direction, messy hairs and uneven breaths.
"y/n."
"Don't."
"I'm sorry listen to me I shouldn't have done this I'm sorry, yesterday was the exact day Yuna broke up with me and I got really insecure about you and watching you hung out with Jun all day made me more furious, I'm sorry."
His eyes were full of tears as he explained what was the cause of his behaviour.
"Just because she left you doesn't mean you had any right to accuse me like that Seokmin, you could've talked it out with me but you decided to act all clingy and irritating and make my whole trip a disaster but that's not the point, how dare you accuse me like that especially when I'm trying my best to work this relationship out."
You turn around when he didn't say anything and walk back down towards the rest of your friends for your morning breakfast.
You weren't certain where your relationship would go after this but you were certain you couldn't handle his insecurities for the rest of your lives or even for a longer period of time.
You made up your mind, you'll leave him after you graduate from high school, exactly 4 months from today.

I'm really tired. Everyone was very surprised I came to work today was how badly injured I am. Honestly I probably could have stayed home but it's not like I didn't have a good time at work. It was a really good day. I am tired.
I slept good last night. I woke up once but I wasn't as freaked out and sleeping with the eye mask on definitely helps. I got up with my alarm at 7:30 and got dressed and felt very cute. I love my outfit today. It was only like 75 degrees out so I actually could wear sleeves and that was nice. It also helped protect my arm a little bit. The one. My elbow is pretty raw. And it hurts to bend and pick up stuff but we survived.
I had waffles for breakfast and then I headed to work. Kenneth set up tables and I unfold a chair since I couldn't pick anything up really. Honestly doing the chairs kind of hurt my arm but I was okay. The Cannery was fun but we had a big stressful moment because the person who was supposed to be doing the printmaking was an hour late. So nothing was set up and we didn't realize until right as the kids were getting there and I really shouldn't have moving to process so I had to do my best but then I got upset because I was in pain and I yelled down and somebody had to come up and do it because I was just so frustrated.
The Cannery went good. The kids were really sweet. And I stumble on my words a few times during The Company Store but mostly it was very good.
I got a half hour break. I eat my rice and chilled. And then I gave my door. There was a little bit of a problem because we ran into the neighborhood tour but it all worked out. Again I had some trouble talking because are being distracted and being in pain but at the end of the parent on my tour said that she liked it a lot and then I did a really great job and she just kept telling me how nice it was. I love giving Forest there. Just good because I have two in a row tomorrow.
I left there at 12:30 and just missed the bus as I was coming up the hill. A sweet old man was sitting on the bench and he told me he was mostly blind and asked if I could tell him when the 80 bus came. And I said of course and we talked about how nice the weather was and then his bus came. And thankfully mine came just a couple minutes after. I was texting chelsi that would be late and she told me I shouldn't even come because she was worried about me. But honestly I wanted to go see the school nurse. I don't know when you need to go to the doctor. I feel like no one ever taught me that and I just feel like I'm bothering people or it's a waste of time. When I was a kid we never went to the doctor unless we were dying. My dad didn't go until after he was done having shingles. I don't have good references for this. So I got to school and I went to the school nurse and she told me that it looks bad but it's going to keep spreading. But the blood vessels are going to spread out and then lighten. She said if it gets really bad in the next couple days like it swells up or I get a hard knot somewhere else on my leg that I should be concerned and then go to the doctor. But she said that it doesn't look that bad All Things Considered. She said it looks bad. And everyone else agreed. Because all day and that's all I had to hear. I told the story what happened like 75 times today. But I was good.
I picked up the kids and I got lots of hugs which is really what I wanted today. I was talking to Marcus and joking about that. Everyone kept saying that they would have stayed home if they were made but for real what was I going to do. Lay here and be sad. I'd rather be at work and be safe. We spend the kids will come and give me hugs and that's always nice.
We made mosaics today. Every day this week, which is just tomorrow and Wednesday, will introduce a different project that the kids have requested. So it was nice to be able to kind of come together and have options and tomorrow add more options to the board of what they can make and it's just going to be good.
We had a nice time at recess and dinner was fine. There was some conflict with one of the staff members because she thought we were taking up too many tables and kept trying to tell her this is where we always sit and she disagreed with us and I just didn't even get into it with her I'd let Chelsea handle it. I just couldn't deal with that today.
But art was really fun and I was very proud of the kids. And it was a fairly quick day. At the end of the day I ended up staying behind because one of my students parents was just really concerned. She was really worried about how they're communication is with her daughter and she doesn't know what to do. Apparently they live in a neighborhood where the girl can sleep through anything until there's gunshots. And then she freaks out and can't sleep. I don't blame her. But she doesn't feel like they can talk to each other. So I suggested they do a mommy and me Journal where they can talk to each other through that. Where it's a judgement free zone and they can get things out. Maybe it'll help. I felt really bad and I wish there was something I could have done more for them. I really like the girl. But I understand where mother is coming from and it's really hard. For everybody.
When I got outside I had to run for the bus. But he didn't make me pay for it so that was cool. And then I got back to my bike and went up to James's place.
He made me a pizza bagel. And we hung out until all of the D&D people got there. First time in almost three months! It's been too long since I've seen all of them. But it was nice to be around other people for a bit. I got to try fancy Japanese Kit Kats because one of them had just gotten back from Japan. It was really fun.
As their game got started though I headed out. Said goodbye to everyone. Tentatively told Jordan that we may still be able to go to his birthday. But I'm not sure if we're going back to Philly for Father's Day and now so who knows what's going on there. And then I came back home.
Where I became crazy angry because again the new people next door locked the back gate. So I couldn't get into my Ally. So I couldn't get into my apartment. I had to go all the way around the block to the front drag my bike in through the door where it does not fit. And go back into my apartment. I went outside and I kicked the fuck out of that gate. I broke that lock right off which is what I told them I was going to do. I gave them a warning that if they locked me out of my apartment again I would remove the lock and I was serious. If they do it again I will remove the door. I cannot wait to not live in this apartment anymore because those people next door have ruined it for me. Besides any issue I had in this apartment as soon as they moved and they have made everything around here miserable. They put trash in the alleyway they let their dog shit everywhere and they lock me out of the place I live. They do not own that public shared space. And it is ridiculous that I have to continue to ask not to be locked out. I told them to put on a type of gate where you can open it from both sides they didn't listen. I had my dad fix the gate so that it would stay closed when that broke I fixed it. And then when it broke again their maintenance people fixed it and out of the second one that broke her most immediately. The spring is still whole and that should be good enough. If it is not you guys can then put on a different piece I am not fixing it again. It is so crazy to me that they think that they can lock that gate when I live here. They know they're not the only ones that can get through that gate and it is insanity. I will not put up with it anymore.
But after I did that I calm down. They will not lock me out again so there's that. So I felt better. I brought Sweet Pea inside and I went and took a shower. My new dress came that I got on eBay it fits me great and I feel super cute in it. And basically the rest of my day has been great. I'm very sleepy. I'm going to go have a snack and then I'm going to brush my teeth and go to bed. I have double doors tomorrow and then teaching at the school. I think it's going to be an excellent day. James has his second interview and I'm very excited for him. I hate that it's on the phone for him because that sounds horrible but I hope that it goes well. He's such a good boy and he deserves to get this job. And I hope you all have a great night tonight. Sleep well everyone. Be safe out there.

My Secret Guardian
Chapter one - The band T-shirt
Warning: Explicit language, depression and anxiety
"Are you okay?"
Those words didn't mean anything anymore. They all lied to me. They asked me the same question every day, but they didn't care about my answer anymore. It's okay tho. I lied too with a simple "yes."
I had felt wretched for several years, and I guess my coworkers had noticed it. Nobody tried to actually find out what was wrong with me. They only asked if I was okay, and then patted themselves on the back for being a good samaritan. I didn't blame them for not caring, I probably wouldn't have either. All I did was sit at my desk looking like I was tired of living. Which i was. I did the same thing every day. I woke up at 6 am, got to work at 7:30 am, ate lunch at 12:45 pm, got home at 5 pm, ate dinner at 6:30 pm and went to bed at 9 pm. And to spice things up, I sometimes had mental breakdowns incorporated into my routine.
About two years ago, I had my first panic attack and I couldn't stop crying. I was at a conference and stood in line for lunch. Suddenly I felt everybody staring at me. I was really insecure about my body and feeling all those eyes on me while I was getting food. No thank you. I could feel them judging me with their eyes. Judging how much food was on my plate. I hurried out of the room and went to the hall. Then it started.
My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. I couldn't stop shaking or crying. My body got all heavy and it felt like I was going to die. Since that day, my mood has been severely decreased.
Nobody helped me back then either. Except for one guy. I vaguely remembered him, but I knew he helped me.
I had trouble standing and was kind of stumbling around. He guided me over to a chair so I could sit down. I didn't really look at his face. I just stared at his hands in mine while he talked to me. I know he tried to help, but I didn't really listen to anything he said.
I did however notice a tattoo on his left hand. A very small one. I couldn't really see what it was. It was probably pretty old and faded. For some strange reason, that tattoo helped me with my breathing. I stopped thinking about my panic and started to focus on what in the world that tattoo was supposed to look like. But before I could look properly at the guy, he was called into a meeting.
I left the conference after that. There was no way in hell that I would've willingly walked back to all those people, while my eyes were red and my cheeks stained from my makeup.
"Have you heard about Sarah?" I overheard my coworker ask another. She probably didn't know I was in one of the bathroom stalls.
Sarah was my boss who had been sick on and off for the last 6 months. We had an... Okay relationship. She was the only person I liked at my job and I was one of the few she didn't hate.
"They fired her."
I could feel my heart clench. My hope for Sarah to come back to work was the only thing that kept me there. I hated my job when Sarah wasn't there. She was the only one who actually generally cared when she asked me if I was okay. I would still lie and say yes, but her concern made me.. Kind of happy.
My coworkers left the bathroom while still talking about Sarah. I didn't feel like leaving the stall yet. I could feel the tears rolling down my cheeks.
Throughout the 5 years I had worked at the firm, I had gone through multiple bosses. Sarah was my second boss, but got transferred to another city. Two years later, she came back and became my boss again.
That's it! I thought to myself. If Sarah isn't coming back, I'm quitting. I was sick and tired of that shitty job and being around those fake people.
I wiped my tears away and walked out of the stall. This was the time. I was going back to my desk and I was going to write my notice.
I walked out of the bathroom and headed straight to my desk, not noticing that someone was talking to me. A hand grabbed my shoulder and I froze. That grab had scared the living shit out of me, but I tried not to show it.
"Uhm.. excuse me? I didn't mean to scare you, but do you know where Sarah Holland's office is?" a deep voice asked me.
I turned around to see a man dressed in some denim jeans, a purple band T-shirt and holding a backpack in front of him. He definitely didn't know the dress code.
"She isn't here right now. She is on sick leave," I told him while still looking at his clothes. If he was trying to get a job here, he definitely chose the wrong outfit.
"Oh i know.." He mumbled quietly. "I'm her substitute." I stopped scanning him for a second and looked at his face for the first time since we started the conversation. He was older than I expected. He had an awkward smile on his face, but it was very welcoming. He also had the darkest eyes I had ever seen in my entire life.
"I'm Alexander by the way," he said and fumbled to get one of his hands away from his backpack without dropping it. I reached for his hand and shook it.
"Her office is over at the left door," I told him and pointed to Sarah's office. He thanked me and walked to the direction I had given him.
You know.. Those jeans do look good on him I thought to myself while my eyes scanned the backside of him. It's a damn shame that attire isn't suited here.
The next day came around and as always my shift started at 7:30 am.
I walked over to my desk, sat down and turned on my computer. The laptops at this firm always took forever to start up. While I was staring at my computer, waiting for it to accept my login, I heard some loud noises coming from Sarah's office.
I went over to the door and placed my ear near it so I could hear what was going on. I had only been standing there for about 10 seconds before the door flung up, making me jump back in shock.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to snoop around! I just heard-" I stopped myself from further embarrassment.
"Oh it's okay! You probably heard me dropping my laptop," Alexander answered, probably as embarrassed as myself. I stretched my neck to the side to look into the office. As I saw the broken laptop on the floor I could confirm that it was indeed that that had made the noise. Jesus Christ I thought to myself as I looked back at him with eyes wide open. I could tell that it was an expensive laptop.
"First real day at the job and I've already broken the inventory," he nervously laughed.
There was no need to make things worse, so I offered him mine. My job position didn't really need a laptop, it just made it a hell of a lot easier. He accepted the offer, took my laptop and went back into Sarah's office.
I sat back down at my desk and started to write customer orders down by hand. It took me about 30 minutes to write down 11 orders.
Why did I lend him my computer? This fucking sucks! I thought to myself as I scribbled down another order.
My hand started to cramp from writing nonstop. I wasn't really used to using a pen instead of a keyboard. Hopefully the people who were going to read this could translate that scrawl.
Lunchtime rolled around, and I had managed to write down half of the day's order and give myself arthritis.
I walked into the lunchroom, grabbed my oatmeal and sat down at the empty table. I had been so tired the day before that I didn't really feel like making a proper lunch.
"What a healthy lunch!" a deep voice suddenly exclaimed. I looked up from my food and saw Alexander standing at the other side of the table, holding a store bought sandwich.
"Do you mind if i sit here?" Words I haven't heard in a long time. No one ever wanted to sit and have lunch with me. To be fair, I wasn't really that fun to have lunch with. Other than the fact that I hated my coworkers, I didn't really have a lot in common with them to hold a proper conversation.
"Go ahead" I almost whispered. There was a good solid 10 minutes where neither of us were talking. He was probably just as awkward as me.
"Thank you for letting me borrow your laptop. That was really nice of you," he smiled as he took a bite of his sandwich.
"No problem," I quietly nodded. It was clear that neither of us was used to small talk.
The majority of my colleagues had left the room. Probably to go out to smoke or to pee. The ones that were left had their own quiet conversation by themselves.
My mind started to wander as I discreetly tried to look at Alexander without him noticing. He definitely wasn't my age. I shot him to be around 15 years older than me. He had brown curly hair that clearly didn't want to cooperate. His beard was hardly a beard. It was very patchy. My eyes trailed down to his shirt. A band T-shirt yet again, but not the same as the one from the day before. He must have noticed my confused eyes, because he suddenly stopped eating and looked down.
"Do you like my shirt?" He smiled, looking very proud of himself. My eyes glanced up to meet his. To be honest, I did. It was a yellow AC/DC shirt with a canon on it. Above the canon there was written "For those about to rock." I couldn't help but to crack a smile. His smile was so contagious.
"Yeah it's pretty cool," i smirked, letting my guard down. But it came up again pretty quickly. "But just so you know, that type of clothes isn't very professional and if you want to work here, you have to put some effort into your outfit!" I hissed.
His smile faded a bit and he looked down at his food again. It wasn't the first time i had snapped at one of my coworkers, but it was the first time i felt bad afterwards.
I looked regretful down at the table, wanting to be anywhere else but there. He started to fumble with his sandwich and my eyes followed his hands.
He had strong hands and what looked like a birthmark on the left. He had his nails painted black. Well.. the majority of the nail polish was chipped. It wasn't really a bad look in my opinion. I liked it when men didn't care about gender norms and did what they wanted to. Lucky for him, the company dress code didn't say anything about nail polish, so he could continue to wear it. He just needed it freshened up.
There was such a thick awkward silence in the lunchroom, that you could practically hear the lightbulbs.
The rest of my colleagues had left, and it was only me and Alexander that was still sitting in the room.
Why was I such an asshole to him? He had been nothing but nice to me. I wanted to apologize so bad, but I was too used to self sabotaging, that all I could do was stay quiet.
Alexander finished his sandwich. God he was a slow eater. "I don't really have anything nicer to wear," he almost mumbled. I looked up at him, trying my hardest to stop frowning.
"How come? Aren't you like 40?" Those words sounded so much meaner than I anticipated, but they had already left my lips before I noticed. He smiled at me, clearly without taking any offense to my words.
"Ah yes.. A man of my age should be able to doll oneself up," he joked. I couldn't help but to laugh. It was just so unexpected since I basically mocked his age.
His smile widened and he seemed generally happy by my response. "But in all seriousness, I haven't really been needing a suit. That's why I don't have one," he smirked. "And yes, I'm 42 years old, but I don't look older than 68." I rolled my eyes at him. That was just such a dad joke.
And speaking of dad, I wondered if he was one. To be fair, he had the age for it. Before my mind drove completely off, my phone buzzed, indicating that my lunch break was over.
When I came back to my desk, I had gained some movement back in my wrist, but each time I tried to write something, the pen felt fifty times heavier.
It didn't really help that I couldn't concentrate either. Did Alexander hate me now? It actually felt like he wanted to be friends and I was just being such a cunt to him. Would it have killed me to complement his shirt? I really liked it and it would have cost me nothing to just say that when he asked. And why did I even care about his outfit? He could do what he wanted, I wasn't his boss. On the contrary, he was mine. Well for now at least. I had already sent my notice to the headquarters, so i would be gone in two weeks anyways. Why did I even care if he hated me or not? I knew my other coworkers didn't like me, and I didn't care. But why do I care now?
"Hey! How is it going with the orders?" a baritone voice almost yelled, making me jump in my chair.
"Jesus Christ! You don't have to give me a heart attack!" I barked, looking up to see Alexander. He was smiling at me, even though I had yelled at him for what felt like the 100th time that day. He looked down at my paper to see what probably looked like hieroglyphs. He narrowed his brows and looked back at me.
"Are you okay?" he asked. My heart sank a little. I could feel the concern in his voice, even though he was only asking because of my horrendous handwriting.
I took a breath, trying hard not to be an asshole again or to lie for that matter.
"No. My wrist hurts like hell," I answered while shaking my head.
"Why didn't you just tell me? I'll go get your laptop!" He walked away so quickly, that I didn't get to say anything else.
Stop being so fucking nice to me, i thought to myself. In what felt like a split second, he had returned with my laptop.
"You idiot, now you won't have anything to use," I sighed.
"I don't want you to hurt," he said calmly.
Well that's too fucking late.
"I already ordered a new one that will be here tomorrow, so it doesn't matter if i miss 3 hours of work. I can catch up with it tomorrow."
I stared at the laptop, then back at him, then back at the laptop. I hated that he was being so nice to me.
"Well.. I better get to work then," I said as I started typing on the keyboard. He didn't leave my desk. I could almost feel his eyes burn into the side of my face.
Was he waiting for a thank you? It was my computer that he gave back to me. I didn't need to thank him. Did I?
My head turned and I looked up at him. My eyes meet his. Those eyes were like black holes. They were so dark, that you couldn't distinguish the pupils from the iris, and they sucked you in like real black holes.
He smiled at me and started to walk towards his office. "Call if you need me," he shouted as he closed the office door.
Fuck my life. I could feel my coworkers looking at me. I hated unwanted attention more than anything. Why the hell did he need to shout? The traffic warden down the street probably heard him.
I looked around the room to catch the people who were daring enough to stare at me. It didn't seem like it, but I knew some of them had definitely gawked in my direction. I hated it so much.
It was so anxiety inducing. My hands began to shake and I could feel the cold sweat starting to form. It was the event at the conference all over again.
Before my thoughts had a chance at eating me up from the inside, a sound came from my computer. It was an email.
That dumbass forgot to turn off the sound after he borrowed it. It was so freaking loud, that it almost scared me.
I tried to calm myself with some deep breaths, before opening the email. It was a link to a YouTube clip from Alexander.
He gave me back my laptop so he could sit and watch YouTube on his phone? What a boss indeed.
I kind of didn't want to watch it, but I was also really curious. I put on my headphones and started the video. It was an old video of Paul Hunt doing gymnastics while dressed as a little girl.
It was probably one of the funniest things I had ever seen. It was so hard, trying not to laugh out loud. It was almost like he knew I needed a distraction from what was going on.
I looked behind me at the door to his office. Closed. It must have been a coincidence then.
5 pm rolled around, and it was time to head back home.
After I got my laptop back, the customer orders almost wrote themselves.
My colleagues had already left the building, but I was a little bit behind schedule, so I stayed a little longer. I kind of enjoyed the silence.
I could work in peace without the usual distractions. There was always the casual gossiping, the sound of long nails clacking on a keyboard or my personal favorite, the fake ass laugh when someone tried to convince a future customer over the phone. God I hated that job.
"Are you ready to go home for the day?" I looked behind me in surprise. I had been 100% sure that I was the last one left. I guess not. A thing that I had noticed about Alexander, was that he was really good at sneaking up on me.
"Yeah, but why are you still here?" I asked curiously while packing up my stuff.
"I wanted to make sure you got to your car safe," he replied.
My car was literally parked 30 feet away from the entrance, so there was no need to worry about my safety. Sure, there had been times where my tires had been slashed and i had to call a cab, but that was probably just some teenagers thinking it was funny.
I turned off the lights and walked out of the building with Alexander right behind me.
"You don't need to walk me to my car. I'm not a child," i insisted. He looked over at my car and giggled. "Well tough luck, 'cus it's parked right beside mine."
We walked over to our cars, but he didn't get into his before I started to pull out of the booth.
What was he so worried about? And why did he even care? He is so fucking weird, I thought to myself as i drove home.
I picked up a pizza on the way home. After destroying my wrist for five hours, pizza was definitely the thing I needed.
The rest of the evening was spent on devouring a whole pizza, half a bottle of wine and some stale cookies. I had only eaten two portions of oatmeal the entire day, so it was safe to say that I was indeed starving. The wine was just a bonus.
After i was done eating i looked through YouTube to find something to fall asleep to. It had become this weird habit. Such a big habit even, that I literally couldn't fall asleep unless there was some background noise.
I looked at the recommended selection and found the perfect one. Another Paul Hunt video.
Damn, even at home he's still helping me, I chuckled for myself. I pressed play and snuggled up under my blanket.
"Paulette Huntanova is back. Dazzled the crowd at two previous.."

I Love My Mother's Killer
by
E.W. Shannon
At three a.m. on a Sunday morning, through a glass door, I saw mother take her last breath. The ICU doctor warned it wouldn't be a long drawn out process, but I think even the nurse and the respiratory therapist were a bit surprised at how quickly she stopped. Stopped being alive. Stopped being Mabel Harper. Stopped being Mom and Grandma. I was a little shocked at how fast she went from being my mother to being 'the body,' almost as if I could see the tether between her and the ethereal part of the universe sever in front of me.
I stood outside, in my hospital booties, gown, gloves, hair cover, mask, and face shield while they removed her breathing tube. Her nurse, Vanessa, looked up at me when she realized how quick death had come. She came out of the room, took a deep breath, and gave me the news. "I'm sorry Mr. Harper, she's already gone." She paused to let me process and perhaps breakdown. When it became obvious, I wasn't going to go into hysterics, she continued. "Just let the respiratory therapist come out and then you can go in."
"No, that's okay." I started taking off the protective gear and felt guilty at having wasted it just to stand in a hallway. Talking to strangers has never been a strength of mine and the circumstance of my mother's death, or I guess any death, made it even worse. All the autistic tics and traits I had worked so hard on to lessen or get rid of came back like somebody poured them over me from a bucket. The stutter, the inability to look someone in the face, the sweating, all descended upon me at once. "I-I-I-Is there a-a-a-anything else y-y-y-you need from me?"
Vanessa placed a hand on my arm. Even through my shirt and the gown and her glove, I could still feel her warmth. "You want to sit down?"
"N-n-n-n-no, I-I-I-I'll b-b-be okay. I just need to go d-d-d-d-do a b-b-breathing exerc-c-c-c-ise." On top of all the sweating and stuttering I had unconsciously begun crying and hadn't even realized it.
"Okay. Um, no, there's nothing else we need right now from you. We'll call the mortuary and they'll be in contact with you." She half looked at me with pity and half with awe. For months now her world had been a constant dialogue about COVID; for over a week she had seen me as a competent sane man, and now a certified medical freak stood in front of her coming apart at the seams. Having an evolving medical curiosity in front of her must have been a nice change of pace from the pandemic.
"Thank you for e-e-everything."
"No problem. Sorry for your loss." She patted my arm again and I felt her shift internally. Her voice changed into a hospital administrator to catch my attention. "Make sure you leave the face mask on until you leave the building and use hand sanitizer as you exit this unit, as well as when you exit the building downstairs.
"Thank you."
She went back into my mother's room and pulled a curtain across the glass door.
I don't remember leaving the unit, how I got downstairs and exited, how I found my car in the parking garage, or if I ever used any hand sanitizer. I just remember sobbing with my head leaned against the steering wheel, my tears snaking their way through the Chevy emblem before falling into my lap. Eventually I started the car and headed home. At first, I tried to craft what I would say to my daughters, Lily and Layla, but found I could either drive or work on a speech for my girls, but not both. So, I just drove and let my subconscious wander and it wasn't long before it took me back to that innocent day less than a month ago.
It's so stupid really. As a family we had been so careful to self-isolate as a group; it felt like Swiss Family Robinson, but with Wi-Fi. A drive-by birthday party for a seven-year-old is what started the death knell for mother. A boy named Asher, a friend of Lily's, stood in the driveway as, one by one, friends (and their obliging parents) stopped and sang Happy Birthday, hooked a gift bag onto a six foot metal pole usually used for skimming a pool, and then waited for the little boy to yell out "Thank you!" showing off all the open spaces in his mouth where teeth had fallen out as he grinned like an idiot.
The thought of giving Lily a list of rules never occurred to anyone. Her ten-year-old sister held only a tentative grasp on the word 'pandemic.' To Layla it meant the bully she'd acquired at the beginning of the year was now null and void, she could go to class in questionable states of dress at the dining room table, she was no longer the weird kid who ate hummus and sprouts sandwiches alone in the cafeteria, and, most importantly to her, she got to sleep in for an extra hour.
Lily, however, was quite different. Every teacher's report we'd gotten on her included the phrase "social butterfly" or some variation of "very verbal." In every group picture from school, Lily grabbed the focus by placing herself dead center, usually with half the students looking at her rather than the camera. Since birth she had always been everybody’s friend and greeted everyone with a hug. I always imagine her studying Layla and seeing how heavy and dour she was and deciding to be the complete opposite.
So, there we were on a warm day in May, I drove, my wife, Joy, sat up front with me, and my mother sat between Layla and Lily in the back seat. I don't know why I put the car in park that day as we sang and put our bag on the pole. Remembering the 'clunk' of the doors unlocking sometimes wakes me up at night. I can vividly remember the bright green bow falling off the bag and how fast Lily had been at getting out of her booster seat and out of the car. Before my wife or I could comprehend what was happening, she had picked up the bow off the asphalt, playfully stuck it to Asher's forehead, and hugged him. No mask, no gloves, no ridiculous two-foot wide piece of plexiglass like at the grocery store, just two children doing what you want children to do, being caring, thoughtful, kind, unreserved, and picking up their litter.
I wouldn't say our family has any real germaphobes, but we did exercise a bit of caution as the tallies of deaths and infections continued their upward trajectory on the news. Joy and I had surrendered to the idea of life with COVID rather than life after COVID. My wife still went to the grocery store with the girls in tow. My mother made them each twenty masks with different patterns, each girl getting their name embroidered in one of the corners, so instead of telling them they 'had' to wear a mask we just had to say, "Go pick out a special mask to go with your outfit." Of course, they weren't wearing masks that day, as we weren't supposed to be near anyone.
When Lily got back into the car and buckled herself into her booster seat, a noticeable silence that accompanied her. Joy broke the hush. "Here Lily, put some hand sanitizer on." She then covered Lily's little hands with ten pumps of hand gel from a Costco-sized container.
I looked back at Lily's glistening dripping hands and whispered in my wife's ear, "Unless you're going to pump it down her nose and throat, the damage is done."
She turned back around in her seat, put a single pump of hand gel on her own hands and took a deep breath as she nervously rubbed it in. "Yeah, you're right. I mean, what are the odds?" She shrugged her shoulders and gave me an unconvincing smile.
The next day Joy sent an email to Asher's mother to ask, with the utmost of political correctness, if their family might be harboring a deadly contagion. The reply came back quick assuring us that we had nothing to worry about and asking if we might be harboring a deadly contagion. "Remember when these emails were about kids biting and organizing bake sales," I asked her after reading the reply.
The day after that I caught my wife typing in 'how many days for covid symptoms after possible infection.' Before she could press 'enter' I answered her, "Two to fourteen days." She pressed 'enter' anyway and then let out a sigh with her head resting in her hands. "Told ya so."
"It might have updated since you looked." Her tense reply made me get up and massage her shoulders.
"It'll be okay. None of us are sick. Mom's been fine since she moved in after her hip surgery. Worst case, we get sick and we get over it." I tried my best to fill the statement with confidence, but the tiny bit of doubt I let slip by was all she heard. I looked across the foyer and saw Lily in my mother's room, sitting in her lap having a story read to her, and hoped I was right.
Two more days went by and then Joy woke up with flu-like symptoms, achy, fever, a slight cough, but nothing too alarming. The next day Layla woke with similar symptoms, but not as extreme. We tried to go through a drive-up testing site, but once my wife saw the line, she gave the order to turn back. "It's like Schrödinger’s cat, let’s just hope we only have to open two boxes," she said. They each had symptoms for three days and then they cleared. My wife attributed their miraculous recovery to the vegan diet she had put the family on the previous year. I gave more credit to luck.
Day twelve I woke to the sound of a duck on fire quacking from downstairs, at least that's what it sounded like to me. I found my mother in her chair coughing and felt her hot clammy head. "Get dressed Mom, we're going to the hospital." She didn't answer, just shook her head, and shuffled over to her closet. A few hours later she became a patient in the special COVID ward of our local hospital.
A few days later I got a call from Vanessa, just starting the night shift, telling me they had transferred my mother to the ICU and asking if she had a living will. While having a living will makes you feel prepared for death, when somebody outside your family asks to see it, it's the most ominous feeling ever.
Two lights away from the entrance to our neighborhood, in the small hours of the morning with a few of my mother's effects in a hospital bag on the floorboard, I pulled the car over into a 7-Eleven parking lot and vomited all over a Japanese Boxwood. It wasn't a virus causing me to hurl, but a thought, a window into the future. Someday Lily will look back on this, maybe she'll come across one of those masks with my mother's embroidery on it, maybe she'll just remember waking up to the horrible news, but at some point she might make the connection to the bow on Asher's head and her grandmother dying.

My back is hurting me all of a sudden. Today's been really lazy day but I think half I'm stressed about going back to work tomorrow and have I didn't have enough water today or yesterday. I'm going to try to go to sleep soon though. Hopefully my sick feelings will pass.
I keep forgetting that new years was last night. I didn't make the joke once today that I remember 2018 like it was yesterday. Which is terrible. We finish up the party and it was a lot of fun. I got to kiss James at midnight. We didn't do a countdown which I thought was funny. But we did fire the cannon exactly at midnight and the whole thing was very fun. I made Paul, the Taney curator, laugh because I was telling people to get off the ship at 1 exactly. Just tell then all to throw their alcohol away and that the party was over. The fireworks had been nice and I had danced a little bit. And I'm still in a very cheery mood but I knew that if I stop moving I would lose that and I would start falling asleep.
I spend a lot of time at the bottom of the gangway saying goodbye to people. Making sure no one was falling off the steps. One very drunk Irish man fell but he caught himself. And then he flirted with me for the next couple minutes before giving me his wine. I had a good time even though I missed being with Jess. I got to be with all my other friends.
After cleaning up for a bit I went to go relieve Chris, our big boss, down at the desk. Which was nice because I need to sit down for a bit. I ended up talking to these three very drunk girls from Georgia. And they were very nice and they told me their whole life story. Eventually though I went upstairs and helped clean up and put things away. It didn't take that long because there was a lot of us. Including some people that weren't even working just staff that came to the party. It was a really really fun night and I'm glad that I got to work it.
Me and James liked home. We did the first footing. And we both get ready for bed. But we were a little wired after biking so we were up for a bit. Both my packages came with four new Furbys. The 3 2012 models and one very tiny box that contained my baby sheep Furby! It was a baby and I'm so excited. I didn't put batteries in them I was just excited to see them.
We got in bed and we we're just laying there when all of a sudden I tell James that the months of July to November spell the name Jason. And he could not get over it like you so baffled and we ended up looking at the entomology of it hand reading series. Every word laughing it was very silly. It was also after 3 a.m. really need to go to bed. I put on a scary story and was able to fall asleep soon after that.
We woke up around 10. Sweet Pea was very chatty. He wanted to be fed. So I got up and went to get dressed while James packed up his bag. Fed the cat and headed over to James's apartment. To have breakfast. But really it was basically lunch time. So I had packed stuff to make a cheese plate as well.
Today was mostly a boring quiet day for me. I laid in bed while James made us biscuits. I have snacks and watched videos. Eventually we bike down to Whole Foods to get my package and pick up a few things. I got myself a salad. James got stuff for the pizza he would make us. And then we biked home.
It was very windy out so that was slow going. I was always about a block behind him. And then once we got to the prison we walked up the hill. There was no way I was going to be able to bike up that without hyperventilating.
We got back to his place though. I was a little overheated but it was fine. He spent the next couple hours making pizza dough and then all the ingredients for the pizzas. He wanted to make a French onion soup pizza for himself which is something he's done before. I don't love on you in so I do not have any of that. But he made both a mozzarella and red sauce pizza and a white pizza with spinach. They were both very good. But they did take him about 3 hours to complete and I always get annoyed when I think we're going to be eating food soon and then it takes two more hours. But it was fine I had my salad. And I wasn't actually hungry I was just bored. I have been in bed basically all day. At least I got to be in the same space as him.
I did spend some time taking pictures of my baby Furby who we named Pascal Lambert. He is just the cutest little guy. I have not put batteries in him yet. But I'll probably do that tomorrow. I don't think the baby Furbys move much besides their eyes and mouths. I don't even know if their ears move. I just know they don't rock. So if I keep batteries in is yet to be seen. But he's just so cute and I'm so excited about it.
I left James's apartment around 7. I didn't want to leave but I want to be able to get some stuff done in the morning and sometimes it's nice to be alone for a bit. I don't have to be embarrassed about things I want to do or worry about him being in the space. I don't think once you move in together it will be a problem but right now it's nice to have a little bit of space to ourselves.
I got back here and made sort of a list of things I wanted to accomplish. First I fed sweet pea and then I went and checked the mail. I unpack my backpack. And put some stuff away. I took the heater downstairs that I had in the living room so that I can work in the basement tomorrow morning. I cleaned up a little bit. And then I spent some time with my Furbys. Which is something I said I was going to do in the new year.
First I moved everyone over to the Bookshelf just so I could see everybody. Then I decided to unbox the spring Furby. Because I'm going to be keeping that when I think. Once I open her I realize she's so soft and she smells like soap. So I'm definitely for the time. Keeping that one. I named her Lil John because of the number she is. It's not the exact number from the song but it was close enough to make me laugh. Once I took some pictures of her with Pongo and Pascal I decided to open up battery packs on the 3 2012 Furbys I also receive last night.
Two of the three Furbys had batteries in them. Both of those were corroded on the inside. One was battery acid one with regular corrosion. I was able to wipe off the one fairly simply and put batteries in it. The one that had never had batteries in obviously had no problem. And both of them turned on right away. The third one did not turn on. That one would need more work but in the meantime I play with the two new ones. And they were not happy.
They both had angry faces and were growling and we're very upset. I asked my Google Assistant to look up personality types for these types of Furbys and apparently if you are mean to them, feed them too much, leave them alone for too long, 4 shake them too much they get an angry personality. And I think that's what happened to your. I try turning on black bean to give them a more positive personality to talk to. But it didn't seem to do much. Then I tried Coco, the new tidal wave Furby I got last week, because she has a valley girl personality. She is very very pleasant. She also speaks way more English. She talked to them and they kept burping and throwing up and making awful sounds and she kept telling them who and that they were dirty birds. So finally I had to just give them both a hard reset. And then they were much nicer and I think we'll just work from there. They're part of the three that I'm probably going to be home so I don't want to rehome them if they're not pleasant to be around.
The third one I had to clean off the inside with white vinegar and that took a little while but was worth it because once I turn them on you had a very nice personality. They're also a valley girl and that was nice to discover.
I sat on the ground and play with them for a while. Don't talk to each other. I decided to leave everyone's battery packs off so that I can take batteries out and put batteries in depending on who I want going at any one time. So I'm not just going to have sleeping Furbys that can be awoken by sweet pea walking into them. And for now they're all living in the Alcove next to the stairs.
After I finished with that I worked on my calendar for the month. And then I went to get dressed to go to sleep. I couldn't believe it was already 9. I've basically just been laying in bed with sweetpea for a while now. He's got his face on my face right now and it's very cute.
I'm both looking forward to and dreading tomorrow. I'm hoping to wake up early and work on Art. Have a nice breakfast. And then I want to get to the school around noon. Start figuring out how we're going to hang the kids work. Tiffany emailed me about possible change in who's teaching what class. And I still don't know what we've been teaching this week. So I'm a little frustrated with the lack of understanding of what's happening. But I made a lesson plan so if no one else did at least we know that we're going to be watercolor painting. So I hope that goes well and it all works out. Hope you all sleep well tonight. Stay safe out there.
