Just finally finished reading “The Flames of Hope”, and it’s the saddest fucking book I’ve ever read out of the series, despite the happy ending. Or, honestly, I think it’s just how sad Freedom’s story was.
Her egg was stolen by a power-hungry man, and grew up never knowing how much her mom cared for her. Died as a dragonet, but her mind lived on for five thousand years because of a plant that used her as a host to help it grow and spread like an infectious weed (which it pretty much was). Only given Lizard as a name. Never received or gave any love during that time; lived on with only hatred shared between her and her human captor. Basically forced to control sentient beings until it was normal for her that she felt no need to retaliate having to do what the human or plant wanted.
Honestly, I’m glad Tui wrote this book in Luna’s perspective, because it’s something that was needed. In the few days that Luna was trapped down in the abyss, Freedom needed that time. It may not be enough compared to the five thousand years of misery and isolation, but it was something. Something to give her—show her—that not all dragons were as terrible as Cottonmouth (the human) claimed they were. It gave her a friend in Luna, and in the dragonet that was with her. The memories and the hug she was given; she needed them. In the end, it was all for something. And it was so heartbreaking-but-so-kind for Luna and Dusky (the dragonet) to give her a name worth giving to her, that represented something—Freedom.
I love how this book turned out 💚

ok specifics: any particular muses from current interactions that Mark wants to be railed by?
NFSW ANON HOUR
send my muse nsfw related questions and they HAVE to answer them
Tumblr media
let's start with established ships and ships currently in discussions / being worked on and i'll tag the specific writers for these particular ships as well to make things easier:
sam ( a/hs: nyc - @edgedglory / exclusive )
thomas brooks ( a/hs oc - @colorsdevoid )
c.had warwick ( a/hs: murder house - @applesdrowned / exclusive )
t/heo graves ( a/hs: nyc - @haitipsychic / exclusive )
r/oger davis ( r/ent - @whatsbehindthefacade )
hyacinthe leroy ( oc - @ncrthernattitude )
owen matthews ( oc - @courtesons )
s/cott mc/all ( t/een wof - @courtesons )
these are just people that he's interacting with, but nothing's developed either way. mark just thinks that they're hot af and if they wanted to rail him, he would be happy to do so. because he's a h/0rnee gremlin ( loving ). i'm not tagging anyone specific with these. if the writers of these characters see this and want to reach out to establish something, cool. if not, then they're free to ignore this.
ter.ry silver ( the gremlin saw one gif set of young terry and was like "y'know..." i hate mark sometimes, tbh )
t/j h/ammond ( mark just thinks he's pretty )
that's pretty much all that i can think of right now. now, if you want specific faces or canons, i can do that as well. just let me know, although the canons will probably have to be on a google doc bc that's way too much censoring.

So I came across this article, and it mentions two people who will be joining in on the Wings of Fire animated series.
Dan Milano and Christa Starr have joined to help make the series. Milano has done few works for Netflix like The Croods animated mini-series. Starr have been in several projects, helping with visual effects for movies like Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Star Trek: Insurrection; and animated movies like Flushed Away, Monsters vs Aliens, and The Bee Movie.
These two individuals sound good at what they do, and I've seen a handful of stuff that they've done--pretty cool, I think.
What I really do hope, though, is that they will hopefully add some 2-dimensional aspects/elements into the making of the Wings of Fire series. 3-dimensional doesn't sound as fitting for it, but we'll have to wait and see later this year.
When it does come out eventually later this year, I plan on doing a comparison between Netflix's adaptation and the AnimatedWings's version. Both I'm waiting for in anticipation; they're pretty big projects, especially for the Wings of Fire franchise's fan base. But yeah, can't wait!

alright, so. more on the fanon Wingwatcher symbol we made:
Tumblr media
some of the more obvious things would be the eye and dragon - with it representing the Wingwatchers watching out for dragons. it’s also meant to be as diluted as it is, mainly because well. they don’t want it to catch the attention of a dragon - hence why they make sure that while noticeable up close, it isn’t easy to spot. they want it to blend in fairly well with the Wingwatcher uniforms
but some specifics about it because yes:
typically you’ll only see the symbol on a fully fledged Wingwatcher’s uniform. it’s also meant as a symbol of graduation of sorts, and represents their status as a full Wingwatcher
this version of the symbol (greenish-blue grey) is the most common version one would typically see - there’s actually different variations for the badge which changes in rank in some cases, and the amount of experience in others. this method is more new in a sense and was put in place by the Wingwatcher commander before Brook (who i hc to be named Sparrow)
the commander’s badge is more tinted with faint gold, while the second in command’s has more of a silver. other Wingwatchers who have been around for four or more years have bronze tints. while the other two aren’t based on age, the bronze tint is. most Wingwatchers w/ that hue of badge are at least over the age of 19 (as Wingwatchers typically start training at either twelve or thirteen years old and the average time it takes to complete that training is about 3-4 years - they typically graduate at 15-16 years old depending on when they started and how they handled the training)
the Wingwatcher symbol was designed by a Wingwatcher who was around during the time the people in Valor lived on the surface. they were the last Wingwatcher with artistic talent that managed to make a prominent impact on the Wingwatcher culture and by extension Valor before passing (they died in the attack on Valor)
after the burning of Valor, there were actually some debates on whether to keep the symbol or not due to the recent events. this was more linked to some Wingwatchers who managed to survive believing that the dragon part of it was a grim reminder of the attack or that it didn’t fully encompass the aspect of their job that was increased since heading underground - protecting the civilians. and some were just minor complaints with it. both Commander Sparrow and Commander Brook kept it as it was out of respect for the Wingwatcher who made it
also imagining that sometime in the future Ivy does end up doing some slight tweaking to the design and perhaps makes an alternative one (or more accurately, ones that represent the specific tasks some Wingwatchers dedicate themselves to). but she ends up keeping it as it was because she doesn’t want to disrespect the Wingwatcher either and honestly admires their past work, despite what little she’s seen of it
the dragon doesn’t have a name but it’s fun to hc that some of the Wingwatchers have their own names for it (more specifically the Wingwatchers who don’t hate dragons or like/love them. yes this is referring to both Foxglove and Ivy)

the second page of my character design notebook went to my new wof oc Feather, who i planned to draw first but ended up drawing Foxglove instead. they're a character who's going to briefly appear in my fanfic, Dragonspeaker - they don't play a major role or anything but they're pretty fun to write so far. they're an older Wingwatcher (around like. Brook's age i'd say? probably a bit older - i hc Brook to be around 40-42 years old for reference) and mainly helps out with things like construction w/ the tunnels
and for those who can’’t read my handwriting, yes they’re mspec straight (ply straight to be exact) and identify as stormgender

AHHHHH LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Flames of Hope finally came out and I’m so happy!!
I’ve reached chapter 3 already and it’s already so good!
As many know, several people were not so keen on having a book in the perspective of Luna, while others wanted it to be a different dragon (I can’t remember who because it’s been awhile). But as far of what I’ve read, I think it was a good choice the author made.
I feel like as if Sutherland had based and written Luna more on herself, likewise in her views on the real world. She reflected our world in the fictional world of dragons in her series of books, and I think she’s done a wonderful job of representing different characters who are all different in many ways, but also making them similar in the sense that they are all one race: the dragon race. Kind of like how in our world, we’re all still humans despite our differences in color and personality. (I hope I worded this all right. If not, please let me know and I’ll fix it.)
But anyway, I am so happy to finally be reading this book—book 15, guys! Can’t wait to see what more the author has in store for future books.

I’ve been working on this for a week and now it’s finally done, hehe-
Anyways I finally drew another one of my WoF ships that isn’t Daffiolet or Wrenvy, so yay me? I drew some Grovanberry, which is what I call Cranberry x Rowan x Grove. I liked Rowan’s relationship with both of them in Dragonslayer so all three of them are in a loving polyamorous relationship because I said so dammit
(miiiight draw some more of them in the future, but idk I also really want to draw some Leaf x Forest or Lark x Brook-)

And now, on to happier news… We’ve heard that two WoF producers Brooke Eaton and Bob Sofia have announced their engagement. Here’s a photo of them together gathered by Robert: Bob joined the show in 1999 during Season 16 as technical supervisor. Brooke joined in 2000 during Season 18 as production coordinator. Click HERE for video of the credits at the end of the Christmas Day 2000 episode. FYI,…

Wings of Fire but it's Be More Chill
read it on the AO3 at http://ift.tt/2GDRu4L
by AbbieQuail1
Hey, what if the first arc of Wings of Fire fused with Be More Chill? I highly doubt anyone else would be interested in this concept, but I am so I'm going with it. I noticed quite a few parallels between WoF's second arc and BMC but I'm currently rereading WoF's first arc, so I'm rewriting it too - but the BMC characters are taking the place of the Dragonets of Destiny, and a few others. Contains spoilers for the first arc of WoF but enough differences that it may not necessarily have been read previously to understand this. "After the sudden death of Queen Oasis of the SandWings, her three daughters started a war over the throne. This quickly escalated into a war involving all seven of the tribes with no clear end in sight. Then, suddenly, the NightWings reportedly had a prophecy. This stated that six strange dragonets would end the war. Goldfinch, Tidepool, Cloudgazer, Delta, Sunrise, and Mirage are these six dragonets. It's a surprise that they haven't torn one another's throats out already - but hey, if the world needs saving, they might just be up for the challenge."

I am very upset that Netflix has cancelled the production of the Wings of Fire animated series. 😤😡
But there are other streaming services that Warner Bros. can partner with to still produce the show, right?
In my opinion, I would not want Disney to take over. Maybe Amazon Prime? I don’t exactly know how any of this would work, but please let me know your opinions and maybe give me a little info dump?
Like, from what I read on the potential series, I actually thought it was started to sound very appealing! But very disappointing how they could do this.

I was reading The Dangerous Gift last night and I stopped at halfway through Boa’s story, because at that point I was tired and wanted to head to bed. But then I see my sister awake.
So I start telling her about what happened with Jerboa and Boa (not gonna spoil for those who haven’t read book 14 yet). It was then that all of a sudden my sister asked, “Do you think there are dragons named after food?”
“Yeah,” I replied, “There’s a few RainWings named after fruits and such; there’s a RainWing named Pineapple.”
And then she said that what if there was a SandWing-RainWing hybrid named Cheeto Puffs, and an IceWing-MudWing hybrid named Posicle. At first it started off as a crack thing that we were going on about, but then we got really serious about it.
So now we’re both coming up with character profiles for them and all these other things! We even decided to ship the two, and declared their ship name as Puffsicle!!
Soon we will come up with visual art of the two and I will post them here. I’m so excited!!!
