HAPPY SUMMER SLAM DAY! Here's my predictions.

Rhea Vs. Liv.

Liv will win. If Dom doesn't turn on Rhea + TJD then it's Finn. As glad as I am to see Mami back I would love for them to build a longer storyline of her vs. Liv that doesn't center around a man. I want Rhea on a fucking warpath just tearing through everyone to get her title back and it would be a bit of a waste to see her get it back immediately tbh. Also I do like Liv and am glad she's getting her time in the spotlight at last so it doesn't hurt to let her cook a while longer. If the rumors of Raquel or Charlotte coming back are true then I can totally see either one of them siding with Liv to get revenge on Rhea. Plus regardless of who wins I'm sure we'll see a rematch at Bad Blood.

Damian Vs. Gunther.

Damian will win. I'm so pumped to see Damian defend against Gunther, I hope it's a banger. Despite the botches at Clash at the Castle, each of Damian's defenses have been pretty solid and I would be sorry to see El Campeon's reign end so soon.

Bailey Vs. Nia

Nia wins. She's been solid as fuck lately and I just love her. I like Bailey a lot too but I think Nia has the edge here. Also Tiffany will be shown contemplating a cash in but will quickly pretend to change her mind when Nia notices. Bottom line is if a title absolutely has to change hands tonight then I'm okay with Bailey losing it.

LA Knight Vs. Logan Paul

LA Knight wins. YEAH.

(Since Knight stole the ugly af Prime truck, I'm pretty sure he's gonna roll up to the ring entrance with it but he'll have trashed it and/or spraypainted/customized it)

Cody Vs. The Bloodline

Obviously I prefer Cody to win but with Jacob Fatu in the mix, idk....Part of me says no way WWE lets their biggest babyface lose the belt after the drama of WM butttt Solo really wants to establish himself as the true Tribal Chief. IDK!!!

Randy Orton and Kevin Owens are absolutely coming back. Like Cody will be about to give up on his own or something and then the RKO music hits and they come back to help him and push him to the W. The Bloodline took both of them out weeks ago so it makes sense they make their return tonight.

Everyone wants Roman to come back. I also want this but don't see it happening tonight. We'll probably get Jimmy's return sooner than we get Roman's.

Sami Vs. Bronn

Bronn wins. I like Sami a lot but idk feels like the clock on his title reign is ticking down fast.

Mcintyre Vs. Punk

NO FUCKING IDEA. Ok. Well. Some idea.

Imo this should have been the Main Event of the night. No offense to Cody and the Bloodline but they main event everything else and this feud has been white-hot lately. I think Seth is gonna be on a major power trip as ref the entire match and will refuse to validate several pins which will anger Drew and Punk. I think it's going to build up to the point that Punk and Drew will briefly come to an agreement and take their frustration out on Seth, which will result in a no contest of the match. This way the feud doesn't end yet and will ensure a rematch at Bad Blood.

Obviously I would love if Drew won but my heart can't take it if they give us another fakeout where he wins and then immediately costs himself the title or someone else does it. No more, I beg of you! Of course if Punk wins it's just going to push Drew over the edge and I wouldn't be upset about that either bc there's nothing more I love than unhinged DM Hunk.

Is that it? I think that's it. I don't think I'm missing any other matches but I'll update if I missed anything.

Page 6. ----- Pursued Too Weary to Get Away, Pursuer Too Played Out to Hold Him --- POLICE COURT CASES --- Deserter Gets Term at Jail Farm - Said Wife Didn’t Get Separation Allowance ---- The sequel of a wild chase through the lanes and dark alleys off York street last night, in which pursuer and pursued, policeman and civilians respectively, lost their wind so completely that the one couldn’t capture and the other couldn’t escape, was the re-appearance of young Arthur Healey, of 91 Tecumseh street, in Police Court to-day, charged with stealing an automobile the property of Joseph Granatstein. He was remanded until the 12th on $2,000 bail.

Healy and two friends were discovered by Constable O’Neil, zig-zagging like amateurs down Adelaide street in an automobile. Presently the machine stopped. ‘Engine out of order,’ explained Healey to the suspicious constable. The latter was playing for time, hoping that Patrol Sert. McMenomy would come along. Sudenly the three bolted. Constable O’Neil singled out Healey and gave chase. At the end of his run, he had only breath enough left to shout ‘Stop that man’; and Healey, just as badly winded, tumbled into the arms of Constable Martin at York and Adelaide. His two companions have not yet been apprehended.

‘I will make a distinction when I get the other man,’ said his Worship, meanwhile committing Wm. E. Turtle to fifteen days on the Jail Farm for keeping a common bottling house.

Big Stephen Nagle, with a carving knife in his hand, was the objection that Constable Ward encountered when he tried to enter Stephens’s place of abode in Bulwer avenue. The constable drew his revolver, and the objection was removed. When the officer got in he found a few little things which resulted to-day in Nagle and Patrick Doyle each being penalized $200 and costs or 90 days for breaches of the O.T.A. Geo. Crane and Wm. Scott were fined $5 and costs each for ‘frequenting.’

Sentenced for Desertion Between the dangers of matrimonial and barbed wire entanglements Pte. John H. Cross of No. 2 Special Service Co. did not long hesitate. ‘’He ran off with another woman, your Worship,’ said his O.C. Lieut. Cane. Cross declared that he absented only because his lawful wife wasn’t receiving her separation allowance.

‘Wants them both to get it. I suppose,’ commented Magistrate Denison. ‘He will go to the Jail Farm for three months.’

Alleged to have stolen an auto from Provincial Motors, Ltd., John Lusty, Percy Raime, and Joseph Tower pleaded not guilty and were remanded until the 12th. Immediately afterwards Lusty, the chauffeur of the same auto when all three were apprehended, pleaded guilty to being drunk while in charge of a motor car and was penalized $50 and costs or seven days.

Harry Isman, who was arrested yesterday by Detective Taylor on suspicion of having stolen a pair of boots from the Robert Simpson Co.., preferred to have his case considered by a jury.

Thirteen Cases of Whiskey. Thirteen cases of whiskey, all purchased within the past ten days, was the generous supply laid in by John and Beatrice Bailey of Balir avenue for a little ‘farewell party’ before John goes overseas. ‘Enough to make a whole regiment drunk,’ commented his worship. ‘I think the regiment ought to club together to pay the fine.’ It was $200 and costs or ninety days for the wife on a charge of keeping for sale. The husband was acquitted.

Jennings & Company was a leading manufacturer of slot machines in the United States and also manufactured other coin-operated machines, including pinball machines, from 1906 to the 1980s. It was founded by Ode D. Jennings as Industry Novelty Company, Incorporated of Chicago. On the death of its founder in 1953, the company was succeeded by Jennings & Company.

Ode D. Jennings was born in Kentucky on September 6, 1874.(1)

Ode D. Jennings worked for the Mills Novelty Company and ran The Spectatorium, a penny arcade, for that company at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri).(1)(2)

In 1906, Ode Jennings established Industry Novelty Company, Incorporated. Itsbusiness was the refurbishment of slot machines manufactured by Mills.(2)

Ode Jennings acquired United Statespatent 1,403,933, granted on 17 January 1922, for an improved mechanical coin-selecting device. The improvement related to the ejection of coins that were too small.(3)

In July 1923, O. D. Jennings & Co. had purchased out of liquidation the business of the Garbell Typewriter Corporation of Chicago, which manufactured the GAR-BELL portable typewriter, invented by Max Garbell. In 1925, Ode Jennings moved to a house at what would become known as 220 Civic Drive (originally Schaumburg Road) in the village of Schaumburg, Illinois. The house would remain his home until his death.(1)

On November 24, 1925, Ode Jennings was granted, as inventor, United Statespatent 1,562,771 for an improved mechanical coin-control apparatus. The improved apparatus was said to be more efficient and to prevent subsequent coins jamming the apparatus while the first coin was being accepted.(5)

Between 1935 and 1936, O. D. Jennings & Co. manufactured a payout pinball machine called the Sportsman. The device was a gambling device, more akin to a slot machine than a modern pinball table.(6) Some of the technology in the machine was protected by United Statespatent 2,003,349, granted to inventor Clifford R. Dumble.(7)

On November 21, 1953, aged 79, Ode Jennings died at home in Schaumburg, Illinois after 47 years at the helm of the company he had founded.(1)(2) He left everything to his wife, Jeannette Isle Jennings; they had no children; on the condition that it was denoted to his church and local hospitals on her death.(1) On 19 March 1954 Jennings & Company was incorporated under the laws of Illinois and it purchased the assets of O. D. Jennings & Company from the estate of Ode Jennings.

On May 15, 1957 Jennings & Company was merged into Hershey Manufacturing Company of Illinois, a company that had been incorporated on April 27, 1939. Over 80% of the business of Hershey Manufacturing then comprised the manufacture and sale of slot machines through its Jennings division, although it also engaged in governmental subcontract work and the manufacture of vending machines and photoflash equipment.(8)

By the early 1960s, the business had been acquired by American Machine and Science Company (AMSC) owned by Wallace Carroll. AMSC also acquired Bell-O-Matic Corporation, and the two companies were merged to form TJM Corporation. TJM Corporation was run by two brothers, Tony Mills and John Mills. The merged company failed to compete successfully with the electro/mechanical models produced by Bally and also suffered because Bell-O-Matic had not protected its intellectual property rights in Japan. The company ceased trading in the 1980s.(9)

In 1963, after the death of Jeannette Isle Jennings, the Jennings family house and surrounding lands were donated to the village of Schaumburg, Illinois and were used as the village hall until 1971. A gift of US$500,000 was denoted to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital of Chicago in November 1963 (then called the Passavant Memorial Hospital) and used to fund part of the construction of the Ode D. Jennings Pavilion, which opened in May 1966.(1)

Bucket Brigade to the Rescue – Today in History: September 12

On September 12, 1873, the bell in the Episcopal Church rang the cry—Mr. Bailey’s carriage house, located in the center of town, was on fire. It soon became clear that the carriage house could not be saved. All effort was put into saving his neighbor’s barn. An inadequate supply of buckets caused considerable delay and made the work doubly hard.

For nearly three hours the top and sides of Mrs. Churchill’s barn were kept wet by drawing and passing the buckets filled with water, carrying them to the top of the barn and then throwing them back to pass down the line to be refilled. More than an hour after the bell rang, Putnam Hose Company of Port Chester arrived. No casualties were reported, but several people were injured when they were struck by pails thrown from the top of the building.

Following the blaze, the local newspaper’s headline read: “Heroic work by citizens to save surrounding property.” While the reporter had praise for all the volunteers who stepped forward, he singled out one for special acclaim:

We cannot refrain from making special mention of Mr. Wm. Talbot, Jr., who was among the first to go up on the roof and one of the last to leave it, and who not only chose the most dangerous positions, but so well judged the efforts which he put forth that he is fairly entitled to a large share of the credit.

Brian Hand, eleven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hand, Union Street was saved from drowning in the Mississippi River not far from his home by the prompt action of Mrs. Wm. Tuffin and Constable A. R. Mitchell.

Brian had tried to rescue a boat but the current was too strong and the boat went over the falls. He clung to a rock and his shouts for help were heard by Mrs. Win. Tuffin who was crossing the back bridge. She called Constable Mitchell who went into the water with a rope to bring the boy to safety. He was at the point of exhaustion by the time he was brought to shore.  The current is very strong at this point especially this year when the water is high. Further, it is no place for boating.     The community was shocked’ at the sudden death by electrocution jon Thursday evening, May 26th, of  Floyd S. Dennie, 27-year-old resident of Blakeney.  An employee of the Producers Dairy, Almonte, he was assisting Joe Sensenstein, local electrician in erecting a TV aerial on a trailer owned by Jim McMillan on Mr. Thos. Fulton’s farm in Pakenham Township.

When raising the aerial, it came in contact with a 4500 volt Hydro electric wire and Floyd who was nearest the serial received the full jolt. Both he and Mr. Sensenstein were thrown to the ground. Both men quickly recovered and sat up. Floyd spoke a few words asking if his companion was alright and then collapsed and died.  Dr. M. Spacek of Pakenham attended and found Mr. Dennie dead on his arrival. Dr. A. A. Metcalfe, coroner, was called and after consultation with Crown Attorney, Mr. J. A. B. Dulmage, Q.C. of Smiths Falls, announced that no inquest would be held.

O.P.P. officers investigated the fatality. Mr. Dennie was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dennie of Almonte. Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, the former Rita Larkin and three small children. "Caroline" is a fantasy/thriller stop-motion movie that was released on 2009. Henry Selickbased has suggested that the movie was for brave children of any age. The film depicts an adventurous girl named Coraline Jones finding an idealized parallel world behind a secret door in her new home, unaware that the alternative world contains a dark and sinister secret. The story started when Coraline and her parents moved into their new house. Coraline doesn't seem to like the place since it's old and dirty and she also feels neglected by her busy parents so she finds a way to make herself entertained by exploring the new house. There she finds a tiny door whom later on would give her the path to parrallel reality. The other world seems like a dream come true but there was also a constant sense of danger in the air. It's not truly the usually animation movie for kids because there are some intense visual and offbeat pacing that is not really a childrens show.

Caroline, directed by Henry Selick made such an oustanding achievement in whating to relay a message to the audience, and again combines his mastery of stop-motion and other animation with 3-D. The ideal audience for this film would be admirers of film art itself, assuming such people exist. Selick creates an entirely original look and feel, uses the freedom of animation to elongate his characters into skeletal spectres looming over poor Coraline. Her new friend, Wybie (Robert Bailey Jr.), is a young hunchback whose full name is Wyborn, and it doesn't take Coraline long to wonder his name behind it. The Other Mother and Father (voices of Teri Hatcher and John Hodgman, who are also Father and Mother) essentially want to steal Coraline from her real but distracted parents and turn her into some kind of a Stepford daughter. Their house, which looks like Coraline's own, has two old ladies (Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French) in the basement, boarders who seem in retirement from subtly hinted careers in the adult-entertainment industry. The upstairs boarder is Mr. Bobinsky (Ian McShane), a sometime vaudevillian who has a troupe of trained mice. One of the rooms of the house has insects bigger than Coraline who act as living furniture. I admire the film mostly because it is good to look at. Selick is as unconventional in his imagery as Gaiman is in his writing, and this is a movie for people who know and care about drawing, caricature, grotesquerie and the far shores of storytelling.

In short, people might care little about a fantasy, little indeed about this story, and still admire the artistry of it all, including an insidious score by Bruno Coulais, which doesn't pound at us like many horror scores, but gets under our psychic fingernails. “Coraline” is a remarkable feat of imagination, a magical tale with a genuinely sinister edge. The story of an 11-year-old girl’s adventures in an alternate universe, “Coraline” comes by its disturbing qualities honestly, through the efforts of writer-director Henry Selick and novelist Neil Gaiman. It may be rated PG, but it is more suitable for adults than the very small among us. Coraline Jones, the film’s feisty heroine (expertly voiced by Dakota Fanning), is introduced with a crisis on her hands. She and her unnamed parents ( Teri Hatcher and John Hodgman) have moved from Michigan to dark and rainy Ashland, Ore., taking up rooms in a large Victorian called the Pink Palace, where Coraline is bored.

This scene shows the large scale reason on how the story goes because her parents are oblivious to her existence whenever she tries to get their attention. Even the appearance of a local boy named Wybie ( Robert Bailey Jr.) doesn’t help. So Coraline is more than delighted when she discovers a hidden door in the house that opens onto a rabbit hole that leads down to a parallel world. There she meets her Other Mother and her Other Father, the attentive, devoted parents she’s always wanted. They look and sound like her real parents, with one unsettling exception: Their active eyes have been replaced by large black buttons. Everything in this other world is livelier and more exotic than the one upstairs. Even Coraline’s neighbors, the furtive acrobat known as the Amazing Bobinsky ( Ian McShane) and the retired actresses called Miss Spink and Miss Forcible (the British comedy team of Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French) are much wilder and crazier than in the real world. It’s in this thrilling other world that the combination of stop-motion and 3-D really comes into its own.

A jumping mouse circus has 61 mice on-screen (and took 66 days to animate), and an entire audience of Scottie dogs, 248 strong, watches a theatrical performance. It’s impossible not to be impressed. The more wonderful this world becomes, the more the Other Mother pressures Coraline to stay forever, to trade in her eyes for buttons. It becomes harder and harder for the girl to return to her real home, and the entire experience turns slowly but inexorably into the kind of nightmare you can’t wake up from no matter how hard you try. Advised by a self-possessed talking cat ( Keith David), Coraline has to realize what is important in life and fight to keep herself and her family alive.

Nightmare that thrilled me to goosebumps are the words that I could describe. it took me long nights to finally have a good sleep. however, this movie gives such an impact to parents and to children as well. Fear is natural component of the creative yet dreadful themes that the movie gives. Caroline is a whimsical film that enjoys that touch of horror and fine art of puppets and stop motion devices. The movie does really give off a creepy vibe but it does not go beyond than the book. The book hides the most disturbing full story which speculates a lot of theories about an ancient monster and the other mother.

Neil Gaiman has written the most eye popping story of horror yet creatively done. This is not recommended for children but it is certainly worth it to watch.

Odin Bailey scored the winner for Blues in just his third appearance for the club

Teenager Odin Bailey saved Birmingham City’s blushes as his late goal earned them a deserved victory over Middlesbrough at St Andrew’s.

The 19-year-old headed in from close range a minute from full-time, moments after Daniel Ayala had bundled home an equaliser for Boro.

Blues had dominated for long periods and created numerous chances with only Fran Villalba’s first-half strike to show for it.

Defender Ayala looked to have rescued a point for the visitors before Bailey scored his first goal for Blues in just his third league appearance.

A draw would have been cruel on a Birmingham side who had 26 attempts at goal, compared to Boro’s five.

Villalba, 21, eventually made Birmingham’s pressure pay with the coolest of first-time finishes from just inside the box for his first Blues goal.

Boro looked slightly more of a threat in the second half, but almost found themselves two behind when substitute Gardner crashed a shot from the edge of the area off the inside of the post.

Just as they looked like settling for a 1-0 victory, Blues captain Harlee Dean dithered on the ball and Britt Assombalonga stole it off the defender to hang up a cross which Ayala could not miss.

However, more drama was to come as, just a few minutes after coming on to the pitch, Bailey calmly finished Dan Crowley’s cross at the far post to give Blues their first win in four games.

Fran Villalba scored his first goal for Birmingham since joining from Valencia in the summer

Birmingham City head coach Pep Clotet told BBC WM:

“I think it was an exceptional performance linked with a very good result.

“We need to be very happy with that as I think the performance we gave the fans a couple of weeks ago here against Preston was a long way away from what we wanted.

“We went away and worked very hard on how we wanted to play and we carried that out from the start tonight.

“That’s the kind of football we want to play and the fact we’re doing it with a very young team means we’re able to show the fans the future of the club is bright.”

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate told BBC Tees:

“That’s so frustrating to concede so soon after we equalised.

“You get games like that in the Championship where you’re getting bombarded from pillar to post.

“Darren Randolph has produced save after save. That isn’t my type of team going out there not winning second balls or competing for crosses.

“Is it a lack of confidence? I believe the players are good enough and I’ll keep on going with them as I believe in them and I’ll remain positive with them.

“But if they don’t pull their fingers out, we’ll end up down the bottom of the table and we’ll stay there. We need to grind it out and find personalities who can do that.”
