The Six Wives of Maegor the Cruel
Ceryse Hightower, 25AC-45AC (Abandoned)
Divorced
My name's Catherine Of Aragon
Was married 24 years, I'm a paragon
Of royalty, my loyalty is to the Vatican
So if you try to dump me
You won't try that again
Alys Harroway, 39AC-44AC (Killed by Maegor/on his order)
Beheaded
For my promiscuity outside of wed
Lock up your husbands, lock up your sons
K Howard is here, and the fun's begun
Tyanna of the Tower, 42AC-48AC (Killed by Maegor/on his orders)
Beheaded
I'm that Boleyn girl
And I'm up next
See, I broke England from the Church
Yeah, I'm that sexy
Why did I lose my head?
Well, my sleeves may be green
But my lipstick's red!
Elinor Costayne, 47AC-48AC (Survived)
Survived
Five down, I'm the final wife
I saw him to the end of his life
I'm the survivor, Catherine Parr
I bet you wanna know how I got this far
I said, I bet you wanna know how I got this far
Jeyne Westerling, 47AC-47/48AC? (Died in childbirth)
Died
Jane Seymour, the only one he truly loved
Rude
When my son was newly born, I died
But I'm not what I seem
Or am I?
Stick around, and you'll suddenly see more
Rhaena Targaryen, 47AC-48AC (Escaped; so basically divorced his ass)
Divorced
Ich bin Anna of Cleves
Ja
When he saw my portrait he was like
Ja!
But I didn't look as good as I did in my pic
Funny how we all discuss that, but never Henry's little…

Thoughts on the Alysanne is Maegor's daughter AU? I feel like it has some interesting potential, and it vastly recontextualizes different parts of Jaehaehae (I do not like him sjsjsjs) and Alysanne's relationship (such as Jaehaehae's treatment of their daughters) but I wanna hear what you think about it!
I’ve touched on this a bit before but since you actually want to hear my thoughts, allow me to present to you my Jaehaerys Is The Goddamn Worst, And Alysanne Annoys Me Too: An Essay lmao but my answer is basically “yeah all of what you just said.”
I think it makes Alysanne much more palatable (to me) as a character because as she stands, she just fixates on forcing her daughters through these fucked up marriages at too young an age bc it traumatized her to be married and pregnant at 15 too but she’d never admit that being a willing participant in her own kidnapping by her brother-husband was the single worst thing that ever happened to her, and because Alysanne doesn’t want to admit it (and Jaehaerys would never see it as wrong or a mistake) F&B really shies away from delving into the fact that Alysanne is as deranged of a mother as Cersei is. So as she stands, she’s very flat to me because she’s presented very flatly and inconsistently. She’s so in love with Jaehaerys, she’s maritally raped by Jaehaerys, she’s a loving and doting mother, she forces her daughters into marriages when they’re the same too young age she was, she accuses her teenage girls of being scheming whores then gets angry when her husband accuses their teenage girls of being scheming whores, and worst of all we are just told “Maegelle tells them to make up so they do” so we don’t know why Alysanne gets over all of this. What is the point of riding a dragon when you never use that dragon to protect your daughters from unwanted teen marriages? We’re just not given a good enough justification for why her behavior is so weird and frustrating towards her daughters.
Make her Maegor’s daughter though…most of her behavior as an adult makes more sense. Like a worse version of Rhaenyra’s childhood almost - a father desperate for a son, but lowkey obsessed with his daughter, who makes all his hang ups about his parents the problems of every woman around him, except Maegor is out here blood sacrificing and torturing and starting wars and forcing babies on wives he discards quickly and brutally. Then here comes Jaehaerys on a white horse green dragon to save her from the horror her life has become, and he loves her so much he runs away with her even though Alyssa says they shouldn’t marry because people won’t like it. And they have beautiful children, and a beautiful marriage, and build a beautiful kingdom.
Then her pregnancies start getting dangerous. Gaemon, then Valerion, die. Alysanne thinks of the shriveled up mutants she called brothers, if Maegor’s taint has passed to her. Her perfect husband ignores her no, and forces Gael on her. Alysanne remembers that he said nothing to Rogar when Alyssa died, merely wept. Then her daughters start to die. Daella, Alyssa, Viserra, all within a few years. Then Jaehaerys makes Saera watch as he murders her boyfriend, calls her a whore, and says Alysanne cannot follow Saera to Lys. Alysanne thinks of Maegor torturing the Harroways over Alys’ presumed infidelity. Jaehaerys says he’s sorry, and her daughter badgers her into forgiving him, and she remembers how she helped Jaehaerys badger Alyssa into forgiving Rogar. Not two years later, Jaehaerys passes over Rhaenys. Alysanne thinks of how she was never enough for her father, how she felt so superior to Rhaena banished to Dragonstone and resented by Aerea, yet there she is dragging Gael away from court because she can’t stand to be with Jaehaerys. How her father was surrounded by dead women and dead babies and how Jaehaerys is surrounded by his own dead daughters, but surely she did the right thing, surely Maegor was worse, surely the realm is better off? Is he right to pass over Rhaenys? Is she enabling a man just as monstrous as her father? She will never decide, because Maegelle will guilt her about keeping Gael isolated at Dragonstone, and Alysanne will do as she’s told, just like Rhaena, and Alyssa, and Jeyne, Elinor, Ceryse, Alys, and Tyanna, just like every one of her daughters.
I do get why Alysanne is Alyssa & Aenys’ and not Maegor’s. The weird Targ babies, the line not descending from Visenya, Jaehaerys and Alysanne being held up as the perfect Targaryen couple specifically because they are brother and sister and dragon riders. I do even think canon Alysanne is likely traumatized by her time as a hostage on Dragonstone, and the ensuing war, and the trauma bond that caused with Jaehaerys, and it makes her idolize Jaehaerys, and then he isolates her at Dragonstone so he can swiftly and safely marry, groom, and knock her up. It’s not like,,,, a fun time, and it’s enough to make anyone crazy and weird about their daughters, but I think having her father be Maegor makes Alysanne herself much deeper because it gives her, as the most beloved Targaryen queen, a blood tie to the most hated Targaryen king, and a marriage to the most beloved Targaryen king. It fits better with a lot of the themes of the main series (again, imo) - forcing the spotlight on the outsiders to see how the affect the story from behind the scenes. The fall of Aegon’s sons, and The Long Reign, not told from the PoV or to serve the PoV of any of the kings or princes, but of the queen that tied them all together.
#anti jaehaerys i targaryen#f&b critical#jaehaerys the cruel#fire and blood critical#asks#thesadboy#like he kind of does this with aenys & maegor by focusing on alyssa and rhaena and the wives and visenya.#but the Moment jaehaerys enters the scene he completely dominates it. the same way daemon and aemond do actually.#but this is not. it should not!! be their story. that’s not how the main series is told anyway!!#if f&b isn’t told by a dornish maester than it should have been written by a septa!!!#nuns wrote books!!!!!#rich noblewomen wrote novels and poetry!!!!!!!#GEORGE DO YOU READ WOMEN. I AM NO LONGER ASKING POLITELY.#i went to look for her mother and apparently this was just a mistake elio made and i’m even more depressed. i can’t believe i’m saying this#but elio damn your mind.#i bet he saw that and went ‘wait which one is her fucjing mother’ and george was like what in the goddamn hell are you talking about.#idk who would be her mother in this au. if we want to keep her within 3 ish years of jaehaerys it Has to be alys or ceryse. ceryse hightowe#is the hilarious and obvious choice. but don’t count out alys harroway second wife here either.#then there’s rhaena as her mother which with the canon timeline makes him 12 years older and isn’t THAT horrible let’s stop here actually.

I was just thinking it would be so ironic if out of Maegor's first three wives, Ceryse (the wife he humiliated and abandoned because she was infertile) was the only one who actually gave a damn about him.
Even though i love Maegor, Alys, and Tyanna together, I feel like this idea could work depending on the circumstances. Like, yeah he chose Alys and Tyanna and discarded Ceryse, but they both were just using him and only cared about the power he came with. Meanwhile, Ceryse actually cared about him as a person.
Idk I swing either way when it comes to this.

"But his third wife couldn't give him a child either. Desperate to cement his stolen throne with an heir, Maegor took three wives at once, known as the Black Brides because each were women he'd widowed in his wars. All three women grew full with child in time, but each gave birth to the same twisted monstrosities as his second wife. One need not be a maester, much less a Grand Maester, to deduce the common thread here."―Varys
A noblewoman from House Costayne, Elinor was one of the three 'Black Brides,' along with Lady Jeyne Westerling and Princess Rhaena Targaryen.
Elinor had three children with her first husband, Ser Theo Bolling. He was arrested by Maegor's Kingsguard and executed as he was accused of conspiring with Queen Alyssa to put Jaehaerys on the throne.
After seven days of mourning, Elinor was summoned to wed Maegor. The king forced Elinor's sons' at the wedding so she would play her part in the ceremony. According to one tale, Elinor scratched Maegor's back to bloody ribbons as they coupled.
Elinor's sons were sent away after she wed Maegor. Her eldest was fostered at the Eyrie, her second son to Highgarden, and her youngest was given to a wet nurse.
When Tyanna admitted to poisoning Alys Harroway during her pregnancy, Tyanna promised the same would happen to Elinor.
Tyanna had been telling the truth. Elinor had given birth to an eyeless stillborn with small wings.
Elinor was one of only two wives who survived the king. The other was Rhaena Targaryen.
After the death of Maegor, Lord Daemon Velaryon proposed that King Jaehaerys marry Queen Elinor to reconcile with Maegor's supporters, but nothing came of that proposal.
After Jaehaery's ascent, Elinor left King's Landing dressed in the robes of a penitent. She visited her two elder sons at the Eyrie and Highgarden before retiring to her father's seat at the Three Towers with her youngest son.
Later, King Jaehaerys commanded Elinor to go forth and spread his Doctrine of Exceptionalism to the peoples of the Seven Kingdoms, as well as the goodness of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, becoming one of the Seven Speakers.
Her queenly clothes became shabbier and more threadbare each day, and she eventually gave up all claims to nobility, becoming Mother Elinor at the great motherhouse in Lannisport

It was known that Targaryens had... questionable traditions. Traditions those with outsider perspective could only force themself to understand.
There was the act of putting a dragon egg in the cradle of a babe and hoping the egg would hatch sometime soon after to ensure the babe was bonded to a loyal protector they'd grow up alongside of; a tradition started by Rhaena Targaryen, eldest daughter of King Aenys I and Queen Alyssa Velaryon. Targaryens were Dragonriders, bonded with the very beasts they used to conquer the lands and pull them all into one kingdom (with the exception of Dorne, of course). They cremated their dead, a custom from Old Valyria, often with the help of a dragon belonging to their closest kin.
And of course, the most infamous and often looked down upon custom, wedding kin to kin. Another custom from Old Valyria that many followers of the Seven turned their cheek upon, for they found the act of wedding siblings to siblings and so forth (apart from cousin to cousin) a sin. Faithful followers could voice their complaints as much as they wished, but Targaryens were kings, queens, princes, and princesses. Nobody could or would stop them from keeping their bloodline pure if they so wished.
Descending from a long, historic, and proud family, Rhaenyra grew up listening and learning the tales of those who'd come before her. Aegon the Conquer and his faithful sister-wives, Rhaenys and Visenya; the many rebellions and fighting brought on during the lives of King Aenys I and King Maegor the Cruel; The Old King Jaehaerys who'd chosen her father, Viserys, as heir over his own late heir's daughter, Rhaenys; and of course, the histories written during the early stages of her father's reign.
Her beloved older brother had been two when King Jaehaerys named their father heir and three when their father ascended the throne whilst their beautiful mother, Aemma Arryn, carried her in the womb. The fourth person to ever hold little Rhaenyra in their arms had been her brother, closely supervised by their parents and the maester attending the birth, of course. With a healthy son and daughter, Viserys and Aemma hardly needed for more children, but they tried anyway. Their attempts never carried to term, however, and any little ones that did were either stillborn or died mere hours or days after birth.
Still, Rhaenyra never needed for any more siblings. Her brother was enough, in her humble opinion. He cared for her diligently, especially during their younger years when he eagerly wished to play with her, even if it meant the two of them being gently scolded at the end of the day for dirting Rhaenyra's dresses with mud and dirt. (Y/N) treated her as his equal, even showing her how to use a wooden sword when he began his training and helping prepare her for dragon-riding on Syrax. His own mount hardly needed much training in the Dragonpit, for the mighty Vermithor's first rider had been the Old King.
As time passed, the siblings were forced apart more often than Rhaenyra enjoyed. She'd made up her mind long ago that she and (Y/N) would one day be wed, and she'd be his formidable sister-wife. Their parents merely chuckled about it when she'd first told them at the age of seven, her squeaky voice and flushed cheeks only drawing cooing from Aemma and sweet smiles from Viserys. The absence of her brother had been stark, his time taken up by training, studying, and spending time with the Small Council, but Alicent Hightower had quickly taken his spot as Rhaenyra's companion.
However, in due time, (Y/N) became man-grown, and while Rhaenyra quickly followed with her flowering, as heir and prince, (Y/N) became the most eligible bachelor in all of Westeros. It took time for it to become apparent to Rhaenyra but her eyes and ears opened when she heard their parents speaking of it. Many families, highborn and lowborn, offered their daughters through letters or visits to Kings Landing. Lannisters, Baratheons, Starks, Brackens, Blackwoods, Tullys, and plenty more came forth. Even Otto Hightower made a passing comment about wedding Alicent to him. It was infuriating.
"In truth, I do not understand your irritation, Rhaenyra," Alicent spoke gently, her slender fingers working on embroidery. A flower she'd seen in the gardens, or something along those lines. Rhaenyra hadn't truly been paying attention to her dear friend. She'd been too focused on silently fuming at the sight of her brother showing one of the highborn ladies around the Red Keep. Every giggle, every blush, every bat of her eyelashes made Rhaenyra tick. "It's wonderful to watch one's brother fall in love."
"You wouldn't understand, Alicent." Rhaenyra sighed. "It is like the love King Jaeherys and the Good Queen Alysanne had."
Alicent faltered at her words, her head lifting to eye her friend with a small grimace. "You do remember our lessons, correct? King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne had to wed in secret, for they knew that not even their mother approved in fear of another uprising from the Faith. Nobody has made a fuss over your parents since they are cousins, but who knows what may happen if you wed (Y/N)."
"(Y/N) is everything King Jaehaerys was, Alicent. He is beloved by the Realm." Rhaenyra reminded her friend with a small smile, pushing herself off the cushioned seats and smoothing her hands over the front of her dress. Her earrings swung slightly when she tilted her head slightly to the side, the ends of them brushing against her shoulders. Her eyes tracked (Y/N) as he lifted the lady's hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles before departing. "He will be a good king, and if I could prove it, I would be a good queen. His queen." Her feet began moving automatically.
"Rhaenyra," The name tumbled out of Alicent's mouth, her hands fumbling with the items in hand. "Where are you going?"
Bunching up the skirt of her dress in her hands, Rhaenyra grinned over her shoulder and chuckled at the concerned look on Alicent's features that only grew at the sight of her mischievous glint. "To speak with my brother!"
With a goal in mind, Rhaenyra entered the castle and followed the distant figure of her brother as he cut down hallways with long strides until he reached his bedchambers. Rhaenyra took a moment to herself to catch her breath and rake her fingers through her long silver locks before she approached the doors and nodded for the guards to open them. She stepped inside, a smile appearing across her lips when (Y/N) turned to look at her.
"My favorite sister," (Y/N) cooed, taking a seat at his desk and unrolling a letter. Rhaenyra rolled her eyes in return, clasping her hands together behind her back and taking small steps toward him. He skimmed the contents of the letter, his face giving away nothing of what it spoke of. "Is there something you require, Nyra, or are you suffering from boredom? I have plenty of lords and ladies who'd be happy to keep you busy."
Rhaenyra scoffed quietly and (Y/N) gave a small grin. "I hear Father is urging you to find a wife."
"The Small Council is urging him to urge me, more like. They believe it is time to begin having children. Seeing as Father and Mother had great difficulty, they wish for me to have an heir by the time I ascend the throne to ensure there won't be issues later on." (Y/N) explained, coiling the letter back up and pulling out a blank paper. He dipped his quill in ink and began writing. "Otto has been... more friendly as of recently. He speaks incredibly highly of Lady Alicent."
"You'd tell me if you were interested in someone, wouldn't you?" Rhaenyra reached over the desk to pluck the quill from his fingers, setting it aside and raising her brows at him. (Y/N) slumped back in his seat and laced his fingers over his midsection, a hint of amusement twinkling in his eyes. Rhaenyra rounded the table and without thinking twice, she plopped down on his thigh.
"Nyra,"
"You know as well as I do who you should wed, (Y/N). I know what a good queen should be, and I do not care about status or riches like the families of those ladies do. We have the blood of the dragon in our veins. Nobody would truly understand us." Rhaenyra spoke softly, her bottom lip slightly jutting out as she placed her palm over his cheek. His own hands unlaced, one moving to press against her back.
"The Small Council-"
"Fuck the Small Council." Rhaenyra huffed, earning a quiet chuckle from her brother. "You are the prince, the heir. Whatever it is you choose, they must deal with it. It is their job to counsel, to offer their advice and opinions, not to dictate what you do. We could mount Syrax and Vermithor and fly elsewhere to wed in the customs of Old Valyria."
A gentle sigh escaped (Y/N), and he leaned forward to press a delicate kiss to Rhaenyra's shoulder. The princess relaxed at the action, her hand moving past his cheek to the back of his head. (Y/N)'s lips curled up. "You are insufferable." He told her with a gentle laugh before leaning in to press their mouths together. He drew back too quickly for Rhaenyra's liking. "But a good ruler is a patient one, Nyra. If you wish for us to wed, or to lay together-" He brushed their lips together teasingly. "-you must wait. Father and Mother will be easy to convince."
"Does it matter if we wait?" Rhaenyra tilted her head and batted her lashes coyly, the feigned innocence prompting (Y/N) to roll his eyes. She rose from his lap and dropped her hands to his, tugging on them until he stood up from the chair. She smiled widely, devilishly even, and slung her arms around his shoulders. "We will be wed, regardless. It will not matter."
"I have things I must do, Nyra." (Y/N) gave a heavy sigh and shrugged his shoulders, his hands coming to rest on her waist. "As I said, you must be patient. If you wish to speed things along, you should speak with Mother. She'll always be the key to winning Father over." He told her and planted a kiss on her temple before settling back down on the chair.
"Will we be like that someday?" Rhaenyra asked softly, stepping out of the way so he could resume his letter. She toyed with the rings along her fingers, the thought of becoming one of those couples who genuinely cared for each other bringing a smile to herself. It was a desire all ladies had. While sons could marry whichever woman of age they desired, ladies had to hope the husbands their fathers or elder brothers chose were good men. She'd seen far too many times the faces of girls her age married and chained to men old enough to be their grandfathers.
(Y/N) paused his writing and lifted his head to look at her, offering a reassuring smile. "Someday." He nodded.
"I look forward to it, then."

Yandere! Maegor Targaryen Concept Extended Thoughts
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Female Darling, Obsession, Possessive behavior, Violence, Pregnancy, Manipulation, Miscarriage mentioned, Isolation, Blood, Murder, Gender roles, Forced relationship.
The whole point of Maegor having other wives was because he was convinced they were the reason he couldn't have an heir.
So, when he has you, a wife who can successfully give him a babe, he doesn't care much about the other wives he has.
If you're lucky, he'll be merciful and simply neglect them.
However... Maegor may quickly tire of his other wives.
He'll find the tiniest little slip up with them just to have an excuse to take their heads.
He's a cruel king, after all.
You're the only wife he wants if you can give him proper heirs... not misshapen miscarriages.
Many doubt Maegor loved any other wife than you.
After all, you finally gave the dragon what he wanted.
How could he not after that?
So, yes, Maegor would probably be loyal to you as his wife.
When you get pregnant and eventually give him an heir, he knows he has a chance with you.
Maegor would take either gender of babe, although if you had a daughter... He'd probably try again for a son now that he knows you're capable of carrying his heirs.
Which is another exhausting process as you'll no doubt have a few other issues along the way.
Honestly, the process of getting rid of his other wives wouldn't happen until after your successful babe.
Then it's proven you're the one for him...
Anyone else's blood can stain his blade for all he cares...
Which is terrifying if you were close go any of the other wives.
As I said in my previous concept, Maegor is overprotective of his wife.
He expects you to lean into your gender role.
Which for him includes following him around, attending to his needs, and waiting for him in your shared chambers.
While he is known as cruel, he tones it down with you since you are his successful wife.
When you're pregnant, he keeps you secure against him in your shared chambers.
He caresses your stomach and kisses your skin.
He's strangely affectionate with you... But he's the very same man who has slaughtered innocents, burned villages, and silenced maesters for offering advice.
Maegor only looks out for himself... and now you.
When pregnant, you're often instructed not to roam by yourself.
Maegor, when not warmongering, is by your side.
Many servants and guards stay out of his way as he escorts you through the halls.
You're only given the best food and comfort, all to ensure you carry his heir to term.
It's unnerving to see him so affectionate just because you can carry his children.
Part of you fears the fate that would have befallen you if you couldn't.
You're a bundle of nerves the entire pregnancy, even during birth.
However, luckily, your pregnancy is successful and you give birth to a healthy babe.
Maegor is immediately attentive when he hears of the news.
If he was busy, he finishes what he was doing quickly before coming to greet you.
If he was away from the castle, he mounts Balerion and flies back to the Red Keep.
Maegor watches sternly as your babe is handled, put into a cradle and waiting for a dragon egg to be placed to bond them to their mount.
Male or female your babe is getting a dragon, however, if your babe is male then Maegor is quick to train him when he's older.
After your birth, Maegor never leaves the bed.
Others are too nervous to tell the king he has duties for fear of some sort of horrendous death.
No, Maegor instead sits beside you and caresses your skin.
He holds you close, peppering your skin in kisses as he holds his wife close.
Afterwards he's staring at his babe in their cradle, occasionally touching the young newborn as if to figure if they're real or not.
You and your child(ren) are the only ones who see him like this.
He cares for you and his babe(s), this is the very thing he's wanted.
He knew you were special.
His special wife... a wife capable of birthing dragons.
Maegor grows more possessive of you once you're a mother.
When your babe is around one or two and given an egg... Maegor no doubt orders the execution of his previous wives.
If they didn't flee to join Jaehaerys, they were killed.
Maegor could care less for his failed wives.
All he can focus on is you and the small babe in the cradle.
Especially when his babe finally gets a dragon of their own.
... Now why would Maegor stop there, yeah?
Much to your dismay, Maegor would push the idea of more babes.
It's a dangerous game... but Maegor would want at least two heirs from his beloved wife.
A son first and foremost... yet he will take a daughter if that's the result of your first babe.
Maegor would be a harsh father on your children when they grow.
It's natural to him.
Yet, if you love anything in this situation, it's your children.
You could hate Maegor for treating you like a broodmare most of your marriage... But you no doubt love your babes.
You often coddle your children and try to keep Maegor under control as they grow up.
Although... There's a good chance Maegor won't... live to see your babes grow up.
For better or for worse.
No, your husband most likely dies on the Iron Throne like the stories say in canon.
Some say you did it yourself, or some other disgruntled subject did so.
Depending on the age of your children, some might even say they did it.
Unless they were still young babes.
Regardless, you and your children would be under the judgement of Jaehaerys I sooner or later.
Many ask for the execution of you and your children.
However, Jaehaerys is merciful.
He doesn't think you'll be much of a threat, much less your babes who most likely dislike Maegor too.
So... That's where your life would lead.
You'd raise your babes mostly yourself, but maybe Jaehaerys will have someone aid you.
Maybe Jaehaerys even helps you raise them or is at least on good terms with them to prevent them from being like their father.
Overall, it's a mostly good ending.
It's just you and your children... along with their dragons whom they have strong bonds with due to their blood
Perhaps, now no longer chained to your cruel husband...
You can be happy and focus on your babes? There's no doubt they'll be useful during King Jaehaerys I's reign, yes?

Yan!Husband Maegor the Cruel/Six Wives Headcanons (Poly!Romantic)
❝ — 🐉 lady l: This is more based on his wives than on Maegor himself, but I wanted to test something. This is dedicated to dear @gulnarsultan, hope you like it! If you just want one of Maegor, feel free to ask!! ❤️❤️
❝tw: polygamous marriage, murder, jealousy, possessive and obsessive behavior, mention of stillbirths and death on childbirth.
❝🐉pairing: yandere!maegor the cruel x female!reader, yan!six wives x female!reader.
You must have been a very cursed woman when you were chosen to marry Maegor I Targaryen. Not only because he already had wives, but because of his well-known reputation and cruelty.
You begged your parents not to let you marry him, but it wasn't a choice to make. It was an order. Your parents couldn't deny it or they would be killed. Your family was well known in Westeros and had a good reputation for being fertile, maybe that's why he chose you. You cried a lot that day, but you had no choice but to leave for King's Landing.
Once you arrived, you were immediately greeted by one of Maegor's wives, Tyanna of the Tower. You were hesitant with her, knowing the reputation she maintained, but to your surprise, Tyanna had been nothing but kind and courteous to you, explaining everything she could about the court and Maegor. That being said, you quickly warmed to her, hopeful that you had a friend through it all.
The other wives were also nothing but cordial with you, some a little hesitant and others more open, but all kind and polite. You felt calmer about it.
Maegor has an explosive temper and everyone is directed towards his anger, not even you are safe, although you are the only one who can truly calm him down. Whenever he is having a temper tantrum or cruelty, you are called to defuse the situation.
His behavior is violent and difficult, his cruel acts became more common after he became obsessed with you. You must do what he wants, after all, you don't want your family to suffer the consequences, do you?
Ceryse Hightower was as sweet and kind as she could be. She was the warmest to you, hugging you and wishing you happiness and many children. She expected you to give her husband heirs.
She was kind, so sweet to you that she quickly became your friend, your ally. You adored her, and even though she was your husband's first wife, you had no problems with her or she with you. Ceryse has truly come to adore you like a sister.
Alys Harroway was the second wife and one of your closest friends, whom you mourned the loss of your friend deeply. She became pregnant with Maegor and quickly became happy and told you, leaving you excited and Tyanna jealous.
Alys was your closest friend, protective and calm. Her obsession with you was hidden but it was there, and she fiercely protected you from anyone. She wanted to be your only confidence and only friend and that was her undoing, after the disastrous birth.
Tyanna of the Tower was Maegor's most feared wife, and your friend. She was kind and courteous to you, staying by your side and whispering sweet and poisonous words in her ear. She wanted you for herself, not for Maegor or anyone else, she wanted you.
She was largely responsible for Alys' downfall, and Tyanna, even though she liked you, would still be willing to deal with you if you got in her way. She loved sharing you with Maegor, when the three of you slept together and she caressed your belly, sincerely hoping for a child that would be not just yours, but hers as well.
You loved them, all of them, but you couldn't help but feel awkward, especially with Tyanna. However, after Alys' death and the confession that Tyanna was to blame for the abominations being born, she was killed by Maegor and he soon took three wives at once. The Black Brides.
Elinor Costayne was the youngest and the most delicate, gentle and sweet. She quickly warmed up to you and soon stuck to you like gum, much to her surprise. Maegor didn't seem bothered by this, however.
Even after her fertility was proven and she managed to get pregnant with Maegor, the child was stillborn and with wings. She survived the birth, however, and clung to you as a source of protection and affirmation against her husband.
Rhaena Targaryen was one of Maegor's most fearless wives, perhaps because she was from the House of Dragon. She never wanted to marry him, but she was forced to and found comfort with you, in her friendship with you, and came to love you like a sister, in the Targaryen way.
She viewed Maegor with bad eyes and as a threat not only to her but to you. Rhaena couldn't let anything hurt you, not when she was already so attached to you. Her obsession grew and she felt jealous of Maegor when he was with you. It was just a matter of time.
Jeyne Westerling was shy and beautiful, with dreams that didn't include marrying Maegor, but one good thing came out of that marriage, and that was you. You were her only friend in the midst of all this and she considered you above everything and everyone.
You could still feel the fear in Jeyne's voice when she found out she was pregnant, the terror she was feeling. She cried in your arms when she found out, fearing she wouldn't be able to carry a healthy child. You tried to comfort her, but it was in vain, not when she gave birth to yet another abomination and died after giving birth.
You mourned the loss of your friend and Maegor the loss of what could have been a son. Now it was up to you, his beloved wife, to give him what he wanted so much. You were afraid of him, but Maegor loved you in his own way.
Possessive and incredibly cruel, he has no qualms about killing anyone who looks at you the wrong way. You are his, his wife, his Queen. Not from others.
Your life with him would be difficult and although you found comfort in your friendships with the other wives, you still felt lonely, far from your family, and forbidden to leave the Red Keep.
Maegor's possessiveness worsened when he discovered your pregnancy and this time he would be sure he would have the heir he so desired. It doesn't matter what means he has to take for this. You will give birth to a healthy and strong child.
Your fate was sealed the moment he chose you to be his wife.

"Do you think you can just deny me? No, the answer is no"
° | This is a yandere work and may contain triggering behavior. I'm not in favor of that in real life.| ° | pairing: Yan!Maegor Targaryen, o cruel x Wife! Reader ° | !English is not my first language!|
You were certainly a cursed woman for arousing the almost immediate interest of the cruel king after his bloodthirsty ascension to the throne.
Maegor already had three wives at that time, two wives he liked and one he despised with increasing hatred.
But you were different, it was an overwhelming feeling that caught you off guard in the first contacts.
There was something fascinating to the king in his every little gesture and movement. Her so easily adorable personality and impeccable looks.
So this was love? This flame that burns without being seen? That feeling he despised when bards sang softly on banquettes and celebrations, and now it had taken over his body.
Already convinced of the strength of his feelings, the king did not delay in a proper court, he thought he had already made his obvious interest clear. The king's way of showing interest was something... Peculiar... Certainly constantly chasing you, ordering guards to follow you and always so fixedly analyzing your slightest movement, it wasn't the most gallant way.
In any case, the engagement was not long in consideration, with Maegor coldly threatening you father:
"I will have your hand beheaded or I will have your daughter's hand in marriage" His tone was as cold as the blade of his sword held firmly at his hip.
The wedding was only in Valerian traditions, the king's warm crimson blood mingling with his own and the taste of copper on his lips.
Maegor would never stoop to marrying in the faith of the seven. An action that only caused more chaos and anger from the religious.
The wedding night was certainly not a fairy tale. The king was focused on creating an heir and finally freely exploring his body. His touches were rough, strong and not at all gentle.
You better not consider moontea...
As a husband, Maegor is not the kindest. His displays of affection are not delicate and he does not demonstrate his love through words at all.
But compared to his treatment of other people, he is much softer on you.
He will still punish you if you disobey his numerous and strict rules.
Jealous and possessive are an understatement to describe feelings and behavior. You are His in every aspect of the word. Your body and soul belong to him and him alone. And not even his other wives have the right to take their You attention away from him. Your world should revolve around him the same way his world revolves around you.
Maegor is simply crazy about you, he loves you in a way he's never loved anyone else, even if it was in a distorted way, he doesn't want anyone to get close to you, touch you or even breathe and look in your direction. Anyone who approaches you will regret it bitterly when the blade of your sword pierces the person's neck without mercy.
He admired strength... But you couldn't get hurt, he liked your bravery, but there is no way he will allow you to get hurt. Never.
Maegor will not change your reason if you don't trust him. He will even think you are smart. For a while. After your patience runs out, he will simply demand your complete trust in him.
"I am your lord husband, who is more deserving of your trust than me?"
And things only got worse after Alys's deformed stillbirth...
Tyanna's whispers in her ear about infidelity and the child being nothing more than a bastard only served to increase her paranoia. The mere thought of you cheating on him was enough to make him simply lose his mind.
He imprisoned you in your private chambers, no one was allowed to enter unless authorized by the king. Guards guarded the door to his quarters.
Then, in an act of desperation, Maegor took three wives at once. But all three had deformed stillbirths just like Alys… Tyanna had lied and the king simply didn't know what else to do. He was desperate for the first time in his life.
But like a ray of light... Were you pregnant? For the first time in almost decades... Maegor smiled widely.

The Queen's Lilies
🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 🌕
Tyrell reader loves her children, her little lilies.
🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 🌕
Masterlist
The queen loved her children, her little lilies. Though her boys balked at the sweet nickname she gave them, no one denied the love she gave her children. Though it was hard for her to see into her older boys' faces due to the fact they looked so much like Maegor. She adored them all the same but to see his face was difficult. She wished they could know their cousins. Though Alyssa seemed to be afraid of her children interacting with the Tyrell woman's children. YN couldn’t blame her, since Maegor had already killed one of her children and YN’s children were a claimant to the throne.
YN hated that throne. That ugly iron chair. Maegor sat upon it often. Sometimes he would have his oldest son, Aegon ii, upon his knee so that the boy could learn how to rule. Maegor took it upon himself that he should educate his older sons how to act and fight. Yes he would allow them to be doted on by their mother but not so much that it would weaken them. He was insistent that his sons be strong. Well at least his older sons. As he had no interest in his youngest son Laenyx.
Maegor had taken on three more wives a few years ago, the black brides as they were called. Still intending on having women as his trophies and more children. Yet he never showed them the favor he showed to his tyrell wife. Though his favor was cruel and with strings always attached. He held tightly on his wives, his children, and his captive family. Alyssa and her children were captives, as well as Rhaena and her children. He declared his oldest son, Aegon ii, would inherit the throne ahead of them but he kept them around as leverage. It left a bad taste in YN’s mouth. She had once tried to plead to let Alyssa, her children as well as Rhaena and her daughters live away on Dragonstone. To let them be free from his constant gaze. That was met with harsh actions and a slap. YN learned to keep her mouth shut.
On a gloomy day as the one she was in; YN found herself hiding in a corner of the castle, away from the gaze of her husband and the court. She couldn’t handle the weary looks of his black brides. She wanted to go to the garden, but couldn’t bring herself to pretend to love that place since her lilies were taken away. The thought and weight of her situation brought tears to her eyes. She brought her index finger to her mouth and bit down on it trying not to cry aloud.
“My lady?” A gentle voice brought her out of her thoughts. YN turned around to see it was Alyssa Velaryon. The queen mother.
“My… my queen.” YN whispered and wiped her tears away.
“You looked rather lonely sitting here all alone.” The older woman said, bringing forth a hand to the younger woman’s shoulder. “Are you alright?”
“I’m just thinking too much… though my situation is nothing compared to his new wives…” YN whispered and looked down at her hands.
The forty five year old queen smiled sadly at the woman and lead her away. “Come with me, we’ll spend the moment in the gardens. Fresh air will do you good.”
The two started walking, Alyssa looking upon the younger woman with pity. She started to ask her questions. Trying to gauge her character. The two had never had more than a few sentences between them before now. She didn’t seem to be haughty about her situation as Maegor’s only wife to have given him children. YN seemed shy and pitiful, never saying more than a few words to anyone. She avoided his other wives, not out of snarkiness or spite, but more of uncertainty and fear.
“You were a child when he took you as bride? A girl of sixteen?” Alyssa asked.
YN looked down at her hands. “Fifteen, my lady.” She whispered.
The idea of Maegor taking a child as his fertile bride left a bad taste in Alyssa’s mouth. She knew she was young when she was married off against her will. But this was no ambitious woman as his second wife was, this was a woman who was still a frightened child. Nine children she had with the cruel man. Triplets were her first pregnancy that took a toll on the girl, Alyssa could tell.
“What do you feel when you think of your children?” Alyssa asked out of the blue. That made YN stop and look uncertainly in her eyes.
“I would die for them.” YN said with quiet determination.
“But will you live for them? Will you allow yourself to be healthy? Would you lead them intentionally away from the path of their father? You only have to die once, child. You have to live every day.” Alyssa advised.
That left YN with no words in her throat. She never thought of that. Her mother had always said it was a mother’s duty to die for their children. Now she was expected to live and guide her children. All of them, not just her youngest. Alyssa could tell that her words left some impact on the twenty four year old woman. She knew with her quiet thoughts and shy nature, Alyssa could tell her something she could tell no one.
“I must tell you something child.”
“What is it?”
After a beat Alyssa grabbed the younger woman’s hands and stared deeply in her eyes. “I am leaving the keep soon. I am leaving with some of my children. Though I cannot take all of them I can taken my youngest. I need you to watch after my daughter Rhaena. Will you do this for me?”
YN stared right back into the woman’s eyes and didn’t know what to say. Leave? Would Maegor allow it? But this woman was looking to her for assurance, knowing YN was too quiet to bring this Maegor. But she also was trusting her with her dear oldest daughter.
Without saying anything, YN nodded. That made Alyssa smile and kiss her cold cheek. She then walked away from the younger woman. YN thought she should go to the garden. But something in her told her to go to her son’s room. She felt something was wrong and that she needed to see if her twin sons Rhaegar and Malor were alright. As she approached the room she heard raised voices. Her sons were yelling at someone, and the other voice made her blood run cold. Maegor was furious with her sons. From what little she could gather her children were mad at the father for taking on new brides when their mother had done what he wanted. Maegor was mad that his sons were acting weak and not keeping up with their training. YN crept into the room ready to sway the situation with her quiet words.
But then she saw Maegor raise his hand against her boy, Malor. That made all logic and rational thought leave her body. She grabbed the nearest hard object and brought it down against Maegor’s back neck. She bared her teeth at the man who turned furiously toward her.
“No!” She yelled and raised her object, which was a heavy candlestick holder, and glared at the man.
“No? You dare say no?” He asked angrily.
“You can abuse me. Yell at me. Hurt me in every way you can… But you will Not hurt my children!” YN yelled. That seemed to stop Maegor, He smirked a terrible grin and seemed… aroused at her anger. His quiet wife could raise her voice it seems.
He grabbed her wrist and gently took the object from her hand. He was scarier when he was gentle. He then leaned down to her, eyes boring into hers.
“Very well my dear. I will not raise my hands to our children again.” He then brought his lips to her ear. “I expect to have you in my bed tonight.”
Before she could respond he left the room. YN let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. She turned to her shocked boys and opened her arms to them. They ran into her embrace and tried to comfort their mother.
“You must be smarter than this, my lilies.” YN scolded. She pulled away and looked at them. “Your father cares not for human life. You are property in his eyes and he will hurt you if you are not careful.”
“We were defending you, mother.” Rhaegar said.
“I do not need you to defend me. I am your mother. It is my job to protect and defend you.” YN said and rubbed their cheeks with her thumbs. “I love you, my lilies. Always remember that.”
She then kissed their foreheads, calling them her lilies once again. The boys squirmed and tried pushing her off the,. Complaining that they were dragons not babies.
That night she knew Alyssa would be leaving with her children. So she readied herself for a night with Maegor. She would protect her children.
Her lilies.

Okay to further the argument: Ser Robert Strong/Gregor Clegane is both the worst Kingsguard and the pinnacle of the Kingsguard. He’s assaulted a Princess and murdered three members of the Royal Family (let’s leave aside the fact that the current Royal Family is not the same). He’s a serial killer. He is presented in Book One as the fundamental deconstructed truth of knighthood, the reason why the Hound exists and why Sandor can never be a knight. Gregor is the embodiment of the Lannister army in book 2. But then at the same time, he is the Kingsguard ideal— completely obedient, completely without thought, agency, interest, motivation, or qualm. Ser Gerold Hightower says that the Kingsguard are sworn to defend the king, not judge him. You know who will never judge the king? A brainless zombie. You know who can never object to a king’s order? A brainless zombie. You know who is really good at singlemindedly killing all physical threats?? A SEVEN FOOT TALL BRAINLESS ZOMBIE. Arys Oakheart almost got his charge killed because a hot girl told him to. Criston Cole started a civil war. Jaime Lannister killed the king to save the city. You know who’s not doing any of that? Robert Strong.
Visenya Targaryen had many legacies. Her son, Maegor the Cruel, bears a certain resemblance to Robert Strong, both being massive, strong, brutal, and cruel men with multiple wives, both probably the products of dark magic— which I find fitting because Robert Strong is the final essence of perhaps her most enduring legacy: the institution of the Kingsguard.
