I have my biased takes on what Coco and Velvet are like as characters, but to start off I wanna focus on what Vel brings to the table.

I think a lot of people have moe’d her down to a nervous/scaredy bunny girl and…that’s not her at all. She’s a real multilayered character who can and will kick your ass flat. She’s also…

- very very attentive to people

- excellent at memorizing things she sees and hears, and quickly at that

- very emotionally in tune with people, herself included

- insanely kind and helpful

- honest about her feelings and will voice her thoughts when ready

Also she’s a bunny like come on. Is baby. It’s impossible to not find her likable.

I can go on forever, but I think these are enough likable traits to work with.


Time to shift. Now we focus on what I think Coco likes in a person:

- Hot girls

- Complexity

- Someone true to their nature

- Some sense of honor

- Someone striving to learn and to better themselves

Hopefully it’s not lost here, but there’s some compatibility don’t you think? Velvet’s got some of those traits that Coco likes.

So where’s the flirting? It’s coming I swear, I just needed the background info to help support the answers.

Bun bun flirts two ways: intentionally and unintentionally. The latter is usually what’s happening most often.

Her intentional flirting is what you would expect. Some cheeky words, being a playful tease in her actions like when she flashed her camera in After the Fall. I think she would 1000% take advantage of her physique and incredibly vast skillsets. She is totally totally showing off during training and sparring. Coco might hide her gaze under her glasses but that dumb bitch is so easy. So so easy…

Now her unintentional flirting is basically that Velvet is just doing her thing. She’s comfortable and loved by her team. With them she’s able to be herself and have fun, and that’s what coco loves most. Seeing Velvet thrive and not feel like she has to hide herself away from the world, and with it comes moments and actions that make Coco, much to her surprise, fall for Velvet.

I guess simply put, Velvet flirts by being her cheeky self around Coco, and her leader falls for her every time.

Been obsessing over the fact that my old oc, Artie, and Kinitopet are like so one in the same it's actually crazy.

Pink AI that's friendly on the surface, is actually really clingy and obsessive at times. Lonely and really just trying to fulfill a core objective as set by their creator or other influences, someone or something that they look up to as a godly figure maybe.

They both act as your friendly AI assistant, Artie is just for a specific program, while Kinito just gets to be his own thing.

Both want you to stay with them. Both will go out of their way to do things to make sure that happens.

Also I found an old sketch from way back that somehow mimics the literal same plot beats to the ending portion of kinitopet and that threw me for a loop. Too bad it was only a concept sketch.

i cant deal with the way people so casually talk about their frequent use of AI for basic tasks. “Yeah i have it curate a grocery list for me!” “I have it write a thesis for my paper!” “It drafts emails to my boss for me!” Hey so fun fact all of those things are basic life skills that people should have by the time they are an adult. You should not need a robot to be making you a list of what to get at the store. you should not be having a robot write your papers, you need to be able to formulate your own ideas and opinions and arguments. AI might be “helpful” but its making society dull and lazy. What is there to life if you make AI do every human thing in the world.

Theres an awful criminal case trial going on in France right now and it extremely saddens me to see some of the reactions directly questioning "with good intent" the victim who's behavior CANNOT be questioned in any way for really obvious reasons (and even if, again no perfect victim whatever but even in the most blatant and obvious cases they find a way to question her reaction it makes me sick to my stomach). HOWEVER, now some people also wonder if some of the perpetrators could have been mistaken, at this point you really have to do it on purpose and hate women with all your heart.

Growing up as a man is basically hating urself for feeling any emotion, being ashamed to cry, and finding it extremely difficult to be vocal about it all. Rupert blearly but promptly answers the phone even though it is four a.m. on a Tuesday morning, because that is the sort of life he leads. Buffy of course immediately begins talking as though they had been having a robust conversation.

"I'll need the medical kit for sure, anything for burns especially would be good. And I'm gonna need some restraints, I think. Do you have anything heavy-duty? I'm talking crazy-super-duper stuff, like the chains that even Oz can't pull through."

"Buffy?"

"Yeah, we'll have to come back for the bike, I think. We can put his stuff in the back of your car. Someone's gonna have to drive his motorcycle over, though. Do you think I can drive a motorcycle?"

"Absolutely not," Rupert says, waking up the rest of the way.

He can hear Buffy pouting. "It can't be that hard. Someone has to do it eventually. Anyway, it's good that Mom and Dawn are visiting Aunt Arlene. It simples things up. He'll have to stay in the basement, I guess. We're at the church at Clare and Alameda, can you pick us up? With the med kit and the restraints?"

Rupert rubs his eyes. "Buffy, what - ?"

"Shit, I've got to go, please come quickly Giles, we're kind of breaking and entering here," Buffy says. Then she hangs up.

When he pulls up in front of the Roman Catholic parish on the corner of Clare Street and Alameda Avenue, Rupert is expecting any number of things. What he is very much not expecting is to see his Slayer standing at the bus stop, hands on hips, arguing half-heartedly with a shirtless and badly burned William the Bloody.

Rupert slams his car into neutral and leaps out. He doesn't have a stake handy but he manages to fumble out a rosary, which he brandishes. Neither Buffy nor Spike seem impressed. Buffy glances at him, then turns back to the vampire; Spike doesn't even bother to shrink back, the lout.

"Hi, Giles," Buffy says. "Did you bring the bandages and stuff?"

"Erm," Rupert says, deflating a bit. "Buffy."

"Giles," she says. "I am aware what this looks like. I will explain as soon as possible. Right now, we need to bandage Spike and get him inside before sunrise."

"Why?" Rupert asks, baffled.

Buffy closes her eyes. "Giles," she says. She sounds close to tears. "Please."

"The girl isn't asking the proper questions, is she?" Spike says. His accent is very posh, all of the sudden, Rupert notes. "She shan't be allowed for tea with Miss Edith after all."

"Spike, stop talking nuts," Buffy says. "We were having a perfectly decent conversation five minutes ago."

He's quiet for a minute. Then: "Sorry, Buffy."

Spike, Rupert notes, is looking rather worse for wear. His hair is grown out about three inches of greasy, mousy brown roots. His left boot is almost entirely unlaced, his jeans - although black and thus rather difficult to tell - appear to be filthy, and his abdomen, under the tattoos and the severe, fresh burn criss-crossing his chest, is so thin that his ribs are showing. There are purple shadows under his eyes and his eyelids are fluttering and red-rimmed, like he's been crying.

Buffy also looks like she's been crying.

Rupert stares at both of them.

Buffy looks back at him. "Giles, I will explain this to you, if you help me bandage Spike, and then drive us to my mom's house so we can put him in the basement."

He does. On the drive over, Buffy tells him nothing, except that she plans to keep Spike chained up in her mother's basement until she can figure out a better plan for him. (Spike, bizarrely enough, doesn't object to this. It's unclear whether he's even aware of what Buffy's saying; he spends the car ride hunched over in the back seat singing quietly, contentedly to himself. He occassionally reaches out as though to touch Buffy's hair.)

They set up a cot in the basement and fasten the chains to a sturdy pipe, then fasten Spike to the chains - kinky, Spike surfaces enough to remark; Buffy pokes him in the cheek and says, oh, please - and regroup upstairs once he's fallen asleep.

"I still have to deal with his stupid motorcycle," Buffy says. They're sitting at the kitchen counter, listening to the coffee percolate. She squeezes her eyes shuts. "Ugh. Okay, first thing's first, he's gonna need blood, like, stat."

"First thing," Rupert says slowly, "Is you tell me exactly what is going on, Buffy."

For a long moment, she doesn't say anything. "He says he has a soul now," Buffy says eventually. "He says he - he got one, like, on purpose. That he won it."

"He what?" Rupert asks, disbelieving.

"He says he has a soul now, and I believe him," Buffy says, raising her chin. Rupert takes his glasses off and polishes them, trying to think of the kindest way to say what he needs to say.

"Buffy," he starts. "It's quite possible that he's saying this as a way to, to manipulate you -"

"He draped himself over a big honking cross and hung there until I wrestled him off of it," Buffy says. "He told me to leave him there until he dusted. He's not faking the remorse-y thing, Giles. And he's not faking the crazy thing, either!"

Well, she had a point there.

"If he has a soul, I can't just stake him, Giles," Buffy says. She looks agonized. "And if he doesn't, then I have to know why he's lying." Her brow furrows a bit, and she shakes her head. "No. No, he wasn't lying. I know he wasn't lying. He's chained up anyway, and the basement door locks from the outside."

"Let's hope you're right," Rupert says. "You're bargaining with your mother's life and your sister's life, too, if you're wrong, Buffy."

"I'm not," Buffy says firmly. She looks down at her hands, then stands decisively. "Now, Giles, I have to go to the butcher shop to get some pig's blood."

How does leading someone by the hand like a normal person mean they're dating? I genuinely want to know

I’m assuming this is about me saying Huntlow is clearly dating so let me explain:

A. Dana referred to writing their dynamic as a romance (while explaining they were bi and pan respectively

B. Casual physical affection

Most of Hunter’s physically affectionate scenes are in private, implying they do this regularly.

It’s displayed direction next to the other couples doing similar things. In the final shot, Willow has her arm around Gus as well, but it’s not pictured with the other romantic couples. If they weren’t specifically showcasing romance, Willow would probably put her arm around Gus, too.

C. This is technically pre-epilogue but still

This. While it’s not a traditional hand hold or a specific romantic confession, it clearly reflection mutual feelings.

D. The lack of surprise when Willow picks him up from work. It’s a regular occurrence.

Then, when he runs up to her, he immediately offers his hand. He’s not looking to see that she has her hand out. He just assumes they’re gonna hold hands.

COUNTDOWN WEEK

Time is a relative construct that functions very well for our purposes here. How is everybody doing? We have SEVEN days left before the month of April and the tri98watchparty event!!

As the social antisocial armature that I am, I thought why not throw some questions at you every day until then? So here it goes-

7 Days until the watch party, starting classic and simple: who is your favourite 98 character? And I know, this is an unfair question, what if I just love all of them? Well, which one of them makes you grin and be as giddy as a child being offered a very special gift when all that happened is they popped into the screen?

For me, that has to be Milly and Frank Marlon!!! (of course I love Vash and Meryl a whole ton, and Wolfwood and Brad too!)

Don't you love that every single character in trigun 98 is named? Almost every stranger that pops in for one scene has a name to them, and that's pretty neat! It's also a nice reference to how Vash always pays attention to everyone and likes to remember their names, because everyone matters!
