tate's expression fell, an eyebrow raising in confusion. she wanted to leave? he wondered if she was miserable around all of this high class bullshit, or if she actually secretly hated the art and didn't want to be around it anymore. he wouldn't have been offended if she said so, not really. he knew his art, he knew that it wasn't for everyone. he'd heard from other artists, and critics alike, that his work could be pedestrian or boring, or far too outside the box. he liked to experiment with mediums and color and light, his work was experimental all around at best. but she'd said she liked it, maybe it wasn't the work.

"hey, you don't have to leave, if you don't want to." he didn't want her to, either. but he wouldn't force her to stay. "i really don't have much to do anymore. an accountant handles all the sales, and all i have to do is take any of the ones that done sell at the end of the night, so if you want to get out of here, i'd be happy to walk you home maybe."

Leia snorted a laugh, nodding her head a little bit in agreement. "Eh, when someone's talented like that I feel like they have license to be a little pretentious." If Leia was able to make that much money on her art and do it all the time, she'd probably act in a similar way sometimes. "I do! I think it's lovely. This was a good phase in my opinion."

He hugged her back and a flash of warmth traveled through Leia, making her grin. It was nice to feel him against her, it seemed like it had been so long since she had been close to someone, even though they were still barely strangers. "Well I'm sure that pretty girl was very grateful, just like I am. This is going to be so nice tomorrow. I've never tried this blend before, so I'll have to let you know what I think." It wasn't Dunkin Donuts, that was for sure. "But listen, I should go. You probably have so much to do for your cousin. I bet all these people want to buy pieces or put them in exhibits. I don't want to waste your time." She didn't actually want to go but she knew that she was the outsider here.

leia organa truly has one of the best bait-and-switch character introductions of all time because when you meet her she's this brave, stoic picture of elegance and justice and always knows just what to say to vader and tarkin and is clad in white like an angel and is this perfect two-dimensional archetype of pureness of heart. and then approximately half an hour later into the film she meets luke and han and she IMMEDIATELY shows her true colors as a sarcastic, bitchy control freak with a massive impulsive streak and a deep mine of hyperspecific insults. 10/10 character design i'm obsessed with her

We don’t talk about Leia killing Jabba enough. Her grandmother and father were born into slavery. Her blood was that of the desert sand and the shackles of bondage. Leia was never more a Skywalker than the day she strangled her slave master with the very chains he used to bind her. The daughter of Anakin Skywalker was the one who killed Tatooine’s most notorious slaver, and I find that really beautiful.

I think an underappreciated element of Leia's character is that even after days or weeks of ruthless interrogation interspersed with torture, she still had the presence of mind to identify a feature of the Stormtrooper who barged into her cell that she could mock.
