I wonder if you have any recs for human!au fics where Crowley and Azi meet either online, as penpals or some other way that's anonymous, but maybe they don't know each other in real life or they don't know the other is their online friend/penpal. I really like the build-up towards meeting each other and things like that! I hope it's not too confusing. Any suggestions with those themes would be wonderful ❤️

Bio: Under Cut for Length

Grace Balin was born into a large family that struggled with low income. Seeing the poverty of her family and community pushed her to work hard to achieve her dreams of helping others. Her hard work paid off when she received a full academic scholarship to Gotham Gate College. It was during her freshman year that she would see the Northern Atlantic Ocean and fell in love with the sea. She soon earned her Ph. D.s in marine biology (specializing in cetology) and biomedicine (specializing in gene therapy) and took up a position at the Gotham Aquarium. A chance encounter at a party of mutual friends lead to Grace meeting Terry Capshaw, who she would soon marry. Three years later, Grace and Terry would work together to found an after-school program so that inner-city children could experience the beauty of the sea. Grace would later expand her desire to help the less fortunate by founding a soup kitchen that she worked at in her off-hours. While Grace and Terry planned on having children of their own, a car accident would cause Grace to becoming paraplegic and require the use of a wheelchair. Grace soon became obsessed with regaining her mobility, pouring money in gene therapy studies, concentrating on the possibility of spinal regeneration via the use of orca spinal cord tissues, taken from the aquarium’s resident orca whale Esther.

Grace was eventually able to create a chemical formula that not only temporarily allowed her the mobility she craved, but also gave her the immense strength and swimming prowess of an orca. However, her unauthorized gene studies and numerous human trials resulted in her grants for the aquarium being terminated. As she faced eviction from her place of work and desperately needing funds for both her soup kitchen and other charitable endeavors, Grace created a specialized suit and took on the moniker of Orca in order to act as a Robin Hood-esque vigilante. Her first act of theft was the Flame of Persia, a valuable diamond owned by rich fashion mogul Camille Baden-Smythe. Camille was not a random victim, nor entirely innocent herself, as she had made her money from sweatshop labor and well as being a slumlord for the neighborhood Grace lived and worked in (including owning the aquarium and desiring to see it shut down and the area rezoned for commercial use). Bruce Wayne happened to be on Camille’s yacht when Orca stole the diamond, putting Batman on her trail. He visited the Gotham Aquarium, hoping to learn more information on orcas from Grace, not suspecting her due to her disability. Later that night, Grace sent her friend Salman Jared to try to fence the diamond, which ended with him being fatally shot when the potential clients decided to steal the diamond. While Batman wasn’t able to save Salman, he was able to prevent Orca from murdering the treacherous fencers and learn from the dying Salman that Orca intended to use the fenced funds for charitable causes and that Grace was involved in some way.

Batman then followed Orca back to the aquarium, leading to a confrontation that ended with Batman being thrown into Esther’s tank. Batman managed to escape, finding Grace’s torn clothes, her chemical formula and the eviction notice for the aquarium, mistakenly believing that she had either been murdered by Orca or committed suicide to avoid implication in the former’s crimes. While Batman asked Alfred to look into further information on the evidence he found, he deciding to investigate Grace’s soup kitchen, going undercover as a homeless veteran. At the kitchen, he found that Grace was still alive and, via lip reading, discovered that she planned on extorting Camille personally for the diamond’s safe return, rather than risk anymore of her friends’ lives. Upon leaving the kitchen, Batman left a sizable donation and prevented a young boy from burning down the aquarium, discovering that Camille had threatened him into committing the act under penalty of having his family evicted from their home.

Later on, Batman followed Orca back to Camille’s yacht, but was unable to prevent her from from being attacked by the armed security forces aboard. Once Orca reached Camille and demanded payment for the Flame of Persia, she was devastated to discover that the gem didn’t legally belong to Camille and that she wouldn’t pay for its return. Enraged, Orca leapt at Camille, who shot her twice in the chest. Running on adrenaline, Orca grabbed Camille and leapt into the harbor. Batman chased after them, learning from Alfred the nature of the chemical formula, the fact that Grace’s clothes had been torn from the inside out, Camille’s ownership of the aquarium and the real owner of the Flame of Persia. Batman made a strategic attack, which forced Orca to take notice of the fact that Camille was quickly running out of air. Unfortunately, the gunshot wounds inflicted on Orca turned out to be fatal, forcing Batman to quickly bring both her and Camille to the surface.

As Grace was dying, she changed back to her human form, revealing her identity to Batman and Camille. As her life ebbed, Grace informed Batman that she had more of the chemical formula on her and taking it all would heal her mortal wounds, though at the cost of trapping her permanently in her hybrid form. Batman allowed her to take the formula, which worked as Grace said it would, transforming her into a more monstrous form that no longer required the specialized suit. She then escaped, saying that she would let Batman live and that she intended to continue her criminal career in pursuit of helping others. Batman was able to bring Camille’s crimes to light, give the Flame of Persia back to its real owner and use the gem’s reward money (along with an exceeding donation from Wayne International) to greatly improve the community Grace fought so hard for and was forced to leave behind.

For a time, Grace went to Bludhaven, at first working with the former rogues turned heroes group the Run-Offs, but her self loathing for her new existence lead her to abandon them in favor of a robber group called the Whale’s Enders out of a desperate desire to not be seen as a monster. However, after the group had a violent encounter with the Blockbuster form of Roland Desmond, Grace came to her senses, having realized early on that the group wanted her formula for becoming orca hybrids, something she refused to give them. She would then go on to assist Nightwing and the Run-Offs, helping to cure the city’s population when they were exposed to the Blockbuster serum by Raptor and Pigeon.

Grace would later return to Gotham City, acting as a violent vigilante against pirates, poachers and human traffickers. However, her return became fraught with tragedy as her young nephew Jonah (who she hadn’t yet met in person) was one of many lives lost in a mad scheme by Melmoth The Wanderer. She soon joined the Gotham City Monsters, a group of mutated and supernatural beings, who had all lost someone or otherwise been harmed by Melmoth, in a quest to stop him from potentially destroying the Multiverse. Joining forces with Batwoman, the team was able defeat Melmoth before going their separate ways once more. Since then, Grace has been willing to work with both heroes and villains alike for the greater good and hopes to gain the courage to one day reconnect with her family.

Meet Aaron Bowyer, a 6ft 6in tall reader with a beautiful reef tank that’s nearly as long as he is tall...

Aaron Bowyer is clearly a talented fishkeeper who thrives on a challenge. He started the hobby as an eight-year-old, encouraged by his mum who kept tropical fish. He kept bread and butter community fish, successfully bred many and by the time he was 14, he’d moved onto planted tanks and discus. He could grow plants, aquascape with natural flair and was breeding his discus at the age of 15. I know this because he showed me some very impressive photos taken with a 35mm film camera.

Soon he moved into marines at a time when undergravel filtration was the norm and SPS corals were virtually impossible to keep alive. With a natural gift for all things aquatic, Aaron took the logical step and after A-Levels studied for a BSc degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries Management at Sparsholt College.

After an admittedly unrewarding career managing a well-known arts and crafts outlet, he maintained his hobby and got chatting with the owner of the Reef Dreams shop in Winchester. It wasn’t long before Aaron was offered the job of full-time manager. No surprises that he made the move and hasn’t looked back since.

Being the manager of a reef retailer had its benefits. Aaron was offered his current six-foot tank and cabinet by the shop’s owner for the princely sum of £100 — if he could take it away himself. That was around 18 months ago and the result now is nothing short of stunning (scroll down to the bottom of the page for video).

The tank is turned over 90 times an hour!

I arrived at Aaron’s home in the evening to find him away, still at work in his shop. His girlfriend, Anneke, kindly let me in and the brightly lit tank instantly caught my eye with the familiar bluish ambient glow that’s associated with most reef aquaria. I think my jaw actually fell open involuntarily to allow my brain to compute the heady high-impact mix of bright colors and movement.

Relishing the challenge

With 90–95% of the corals being brightly-coloured SPS I knew I was witnessing something pretty special, even as someone who’s more akin to planted aquascapes. The colors were so vivid and bright that any non-fishkeeper could be left wondering if indeed the corals were real!

Aaron returned home soon after and we quickly entered into a dialogue about his hobbyist roots. When I asked, “why reef?” his answer was remarkably straightforward. “I need to challenge myself”, Aaron replied. To grow relatively demanding corals to such a high standard is indeed a challenge, and one that Aaron has clearly relished.

Skimmer, nitrite removers and other equipment is hidden away in the sump.

Consistency is key

He puts much of the success down to consistency in product usage using the balling method — the technique of dosing different solutions to give the corals the minerals they need. Aaron uses the Tropic Marin Pro-Reef range of salt and balling products. The three balling solutions are all dosed automatically using a GHL auto doser and Aaron goes through a total of 1100ml every day. He has calculated that this equates to a mighty total of 74Kg of balling salts every year! In theory this should mean that there’s around 74Kg of added mass to the corals, which is incredibly impressive and leaves me wondering how sustainable such heavy growth can be. Aaron tests the water regularly to ensure the parameters with a variety of high-end test kits to spot any trends in water chemistry fluctuations.

There’s almost 600W of high-output T5 lighting with reflectors, so Aaron runs a cooling fan constantly over the surface of the water. The PAR reaches around 400–600ųmol at the surface and 150ųmol at the substrate. No chiller is employed. Aaron plans on putting even more light over the tank in the form of an eight–T5 ATI unit. I asked if he had considered LEDs but he explained that to get a similar quantity of light would cost over £3,000, using several Radions or Hydra 52 units. Arguably the effect of T5 can be more impressive than LED with its consistency in light spread and lack of glitter lines. It’s largely down to personal taste and budget, as with all aspects of fishkeeping.

Aaron’s fish selection is equally impressive. I’m a fan of seeing more smaller fish versus fewer larger fish, as it gives an improved sense of scale; a principle that he agrees with too.

Dominated by a wonderful collection of wrasses, blennies, damsels and anthias, the mix of color and movement in the tank, especially after feeding was a sight to behold.

A large Copperband butterfly and Purple tang stood out as feature fish, with the former being Aaron and Anneke’s favourite specimen.

I asked if he had encountered any major issues with his set-up over the 18 months it had been running and was pleased to hear of nothing, except a jumper that triggered the installation of the mesh cover.

Better than the telly!

The tank sits pride of place in the couple’s living room and I can’t see them watching much TV when there’s such a spectacle as this to appreciate. But Aaron suffers a similar problem to many other experienced fishkeepers and aquascapers — he’s never satisfied and is always looking at ways to improve his set-up.

He explained that one of the pink Bird’s nest corals in his system had lost its intensity and he was determined to rectify the problem. He told me that you can lose color in a coral in a matter of days, but it can take months to get it back again.

It’s this determination to reach the highest of standards that I believe has been the key to Aaron’s success, and I left his home feeling very inspired and motivated. Maybe it’s about time I set up a proper reef tank myself…

Cheesy Romantic DayDreams Ahead:

~So this is just some cheesy romantic daydreaming I’ve been doing about my crush, we’ll call him C~

So, backstory:

C and I met when I was engaged to his best friend (J). J turned out to be dishonest and just all around not right for me. The one things I don’t put up with is liars. C is the same way, but he knew J longer than me so kept giving him a chance. By the time I had broken up with J, C and I had become very good friends. We stopped talking at the breakup because he sided with J, and I understood that their relationship was stronger than ours.

Anyway: that all happened and ended in late July. November 1st was my 21st birthday. On the 8th or 9th I tipsy texted C. He was still in my phone.

He had a girlfriend. So we texted as friends.

2 weeks later. He’s broken up with her.

He mentions this too me. And we start sexting (we always had a LOT of sexual tension)

We have yet to see each other in person since July.

Middle of December: he stops replying. Goes completely MIA. I figure he must’ve just lost interest.

December 27th: he reply’s to a tweet I made about him and sends me a Facebook friend request (I had deleted him all those months ago) turns out he was in jail. For driving on a suspended license - I guarantee he was helping someone - I didn’t push for details.

My heart is so happy though, that he’s okay.

December 31: I had planned to have a NYE party, I had to cancel. He was going to come but I had to cancel.

We still haven’t seen each other.

January is finally here. We’ve been texting a lot. But he is a lot busier than me and doesn’t have his phone very often.

We sexted a little. I told him I was uncomfortable with fully nude photos. He said “you won’t make it as a cam girl then” (something I had told him I was considering way back in November.) I told him I wasn’t considering that anymore. He replies good job”

I don’t know what that means.

I ask him “what am I to you?”

I scared him away. Hopefully he’ll come back. It’s only been a few days.

But...I think there is something there... something more than maybe either of us are ready for.

So now for the daydreams:

C is very observant of people. He learns their likes and dislikes and passions easily. Much more easily than me. But I know C.

C likes tattoos and cars, specifically Honda’s and other imports (he’s wrong - GM all the way)

C is the only man to match wits with me. We can debate with each other and it feels like fire.

C has a daughter and a son on the way with different ladies... I don’t mind. I love babies.

So. I daydream that maybe once we finally get to some sense of officialness that the fire will ignite everything.

I daydream that because I’ll be in college for several more years, PhD here I come, that he will be there for me.

I current go to school near him. But I live a bit far. (45min drive everyday) so I’ll see him on school days. In the fall, I’ll be moving and going to school in a different city. I hope he moves with me. He doesn’t have many roots, and we’d still be close to his kiddos. (Only about 25-30minutes away.)

I don’t like living alone so I like to imagine he’ll move in on an unofficial basis to start, “just until I get used to the new place” and it slowly becomes more permanent. He cooks dinners for me to eat after class and he makes sure that he is home at night so I feel safe. Sometimes with his insomnia he isn’t able to sleep while I do, but he’ll make sure I’m sound asleep and then go into the other room and play video games, quietly.

At first he’ll find me need to sleep to music annoying, but soon he’ll find it relaxing.

And as we live together we continue to grow closer. He helps me study, I help him with whatever wonderful thing he is working on, sometimes we just do our things silently in the same space as each other and that’s okay too.

During my last semester at that school it gets serious. Because I’ll be looking into coastal schools, for my Marine Bio PhD. He has his kids, who by that time I will have been introduced to and love. I plan on going to a university in Florida, near Orlando. I tell him, “I get if you want to stay, you’re children are here we can make the long distance thing work”

And he say that he hasn’t decided what’s the right decision yet and that he wants to go with me to my campus visit too see where I’ll be studying. He says “I have to make sure it’s good “ and then sticks his toungue out at me

So we plan for the trip. I convince him to stay in a Walt Disney Resort Hotel while we are down there because “it’s DISNEY!” And he concedes, with out too much actual debate.

We plan to stay a little over a week. We make it a little vacation for us. I plan for the days of the campus tours and a day or two to locate the good housing. And the other days I’d figure we can hang out at the pool or go to Disney Springs. So that’s the plan. On the flight down to Orlando, we have our magic bands ready! And we talk a lot about how amazing it’d be for me to get this PhD and how he and the kids could come visit and we could go to Magic Kingdom or the other parks together. And by the time we arrive at the airport and take the magic express down to the resort we are both exhausted. I just want to chill all day. So that’s what we do. We relax by the pool and take a nap. And go to bed kinda early because I have my first campus tohur and “advising” session in the morning. We plan to take a Lyft to that. In the morning C will be oddly quiet. And will tell me that he’s got a headache, and to go on with out me. That’s when the fun starts. While I’m off doing my student thing he’d be working with a friend of mine who still works for Disney. He will plan for our next relaxation day to surprise me with Magic Kingdom! We’re staying at the Contemporary so it’s just a walk away.

~Fast Foward to Day of~

He says “let’s take a walk”

And we go and walk and we go down the path to Magic Kingdom, I tell him “let’s go through the security point, we can’t get into the park, because we don’t have tickets, but I want a picture by the flowers.” That’s when he tells me to check MyDisneyExpirence app and I see that we have tickets! I jump him in a hug. Asking when he did that and how excited I am. He says “you’re friend helped” my confused face shows. And he points and it’s my Disney Bestie! I run over and give her a hug! We go to catch up. And then go back to C and drag him with us to all the silly MK fun that he’ll pretend to hate but kind of enjoy. He’ll muse to himself “I can’t wait to bring our kids here.” And I’ll look at him, and say “our kids?” And he’d say “yeah, they are your kids too, they love you. And maybe some day we’ll have another that’s the two of us.” I’ll blush, he’s so unusually poetic today.

A few hours before sunset I tell him I want to go sit in front of the Castle. “I want to be in a good spot of the fireworks. Cmon” he agrees.

We walk to the castle, I’m leading dragging him behind me, and as we are right in front of it. Between the castle and the partners statue, I stop and let go gazing at the castle. My friend tells me to turn around. And I do. He’s on one knee. Holding a ring box. He talks about how he’s glad he let me in his life, and all sorts of cheesy stuff, the whole nine yards. I’m nodding my head the whole time. He says the question “Will you marry me?” And I practically attack him when I say “YES!! OF COURSE!! YES!!” And give him all the hugs and and I kiss him and the people around us applaud. And he got photopass and my friend to take pictures so I’d have them.

And we’d move to Florida and have annual passes and his kids would come visit on their school breaks, as much as possible anyway. And we’d all go to WDW together and C and I would plan for a wedding after I get my PhD. And we would live happily every after

11.11.11 – A Natural Cure For Cancer?

I believe, that given the right tools, the body, combined with a strong belief system, can naturally heal itself. Unfortunately, it is a very sad fact that more people die from chemotherapy than die from the cancer that the chemotherapy is trying to get rid of in the first place. So he’s still not fully recovered yet, but he is still alive when, as his doctor said he should, in all reality, be dead, and his CT scan confirms that he no longer has any cancer!

For people who are not addressing any serious health issues, the recommended daily ‘maintenance’ doses are; 1g to 3g of L-Carnosine per day, dependent upon overall body weight, and at least 1g of Marine Phytoplankton per day.

A New Anti-Cancer Vaccine Looming up Brightly on the Horizon?

Cancer researchers have been studying the mole rat (Heterocephalus glaber), pictured below, as it is the only known living creature that is totally immune to cancer. Humans have one built in defense mechanism against cancer and, when this breaks down, cancer starts to develop and grow very quickly, but the mole rat has not only one but two different defense mechanisms which very effectively stops cancer from ever developing at all. It is not only immune to spontaneous cancer it is even immune to experimental lab induced cancers as well.

Now that the scientists have finally discovered this, it shouldn’t take too much longer for them to replicate this effect in humans and to then develop a new anti-cancer vaccine which will finally put an end to this deadly disease once and for all. They hope that this might also unlock the key to our aging as well as the mole rat can live up to 31 years in captivity, shows very little signs of aging, and remains highly fertile right up until the time of its death. In the meantime, while scientists work to unlock the key to the mole rat’s cancer immunity, the unique combination of the two products discussed above currently appears to be the very best alternative cancer treatment yet to be discovered.

Well, my patient with stomach cancer is still alive and no cancer found on CT scan.

He is having problems with blood clots in his legs requiring anticoagulation and subsequent gastric bleeding needing transfusion.

So he’s still not fully recovered yet, but he is still alive when, as his doctor said he should, in all reality, be dead, and his CT scan confirms that he no longer has any cancer!

Bio: Grace Balin was born into a large family that struggled with low income. Seeing the poverty that her family and the community around her pushed her to work hard to achieve her dreams of helping others. Her hard work paid off when she received a full academic scholarship from Gotham Gate College. It was during her freshman year that she would see the Northern Atlantic Ocean and fell in love with the sea. She soon earned her Ph. D.s in Marine Biology (specializing in cetology) and Biomedicine (specializing in gene therapy) and took up a position at the Gotham Aquarium. A chance encounter at a party of mutual friends lead to Grace meeting Terry Capshaw, who she would soon marry. Three years later, Grace and Terry would work together to found an after-school program so that inner-city children could experience the beauty of the sea. Grace would later expand her desire to help the less fortunate by founding a soup kitchen that she worked at in her off-hours.

While Grace and Terry planned on having children of their own, a car accident would cause Grace to becoming paraplegic and require the use of a wheelchair. Grace soon became obsessed with regaining her mobility, pouring money in gene therapy studies, concentrating on the possibility human regeneration of spinal cord tissues from orca spinal cord tissues, taken from the aquarium’s resident orca Esther. Grace was eventually able to create a chemical formula that not only temporarily allowed her mobility she craved, but also allows her the immense strength and swimming prowess of an orca. However, her unauthorized gene studies and numerous human trials resulted in her grants for the aquarium being terminated. As she faced eviction from her place of work and desperately needing funds for both her soup kitchen and other charitable endeavors she hope to accomplish, Grace created a specialized suit and took on the moniker of Orca in order to act as a Robin Hood-esque vigilante. Her first act of theft was the Flame of Persia, a valuable diamond owned by rich fashion mogul Camille Baden-Smythe. Camille was not a random victim, nor entirely innocent herself, as she had made her money from sweatshop labor and well as being a slumlord for the neighborhood Grace lived and worked in (including owning the aquarium and desiring to see it shut down and the area rezoned for commercial use).

Bruce Wayne happened to be on Camille’s yacht when Orca stole the diamond, putting Batman on her trail. He visited the Gotham Aquarium, hoping to learn more information on orcas from Grace, not suspecting her due to her handicap. Later that night, Grace sent her friend Salman Jared to try to fence the diamond, which ended with him getting shot when the potential clients decided to steal the diamond. While Batman wasn’t able to save Salman, he was able to prevent Orca from murdering the treacherous clients and learn from a dying Salman that Orca intended to use the fencing funds for charitable causes and that Grace was involved in some way.

Batman then followed Orca back to the aquarium, leading to a confrontation that ended with Batman being thrown into Esther’s tank. Batman managed to escape, finding Grace’s torn clothes, her chemical formula and the eviction notice for the aquarium, mistakenly believing that she had either been murdered by Orca or committed suicide to avoid implication in the former’s crimes. While Batman asked Alfred to look into further information on the evidence he found, he deciding to investigate Grace’s soup kitchen, going undercover as a homeless veteran. At the kitchen, he found that Grace was still alive and, via lip reading, discovered that she planned on extorting Camille for the diamond’s safe return, rather than risk anymore of her friends’ lives. Upon leaving the kitchen, Batman left a sizable donation and prevented a young boy from burning down the aquarium, discovering that Camille had threatened the kid into committing the act under penalty of having his family evicted from their home.

As Grace was dying, she changed back to her human form, revealing her identity to Batman and Camille. As her life ebbed, Grace informed Batman that she had more of the chemical formula on her and taking it all would heal her mortal wounds, though at the cost of trapping her permanently in her hybrid form. Batman allowed her to take the formula, which worked as Grace said it would, transforming her into a more monstrous from that no longer required the specialized suit. She then escaped, saying that she would let Batman live and that she intended to continue her criminal career in pursuit of helping others. While Batman was able to bring Camille’s crimes to light, give the Flame of Persia back to its real owner and use the reward money (along with an exceeding donation from Wayne International) to greatly improve the community Grace fought so hard for, she was forced to leave her former life behind.

For a time she went to Bludhaven, at first working with the former rogues turned heroes group the Run-Offs, but her self loathing for her new existence lead her to abandon them in favor of a robber group called the Whale’s Enders out of a desperate desire to not be seen as a monster. However, after the group had a violent encounter with the Blockbuster form of Roland Desmond, Grace came to her senses, having realized early on that the group wanted her formula for becoming orca hybrids, something she refused to give them. She would then go on to assist Nightwing and the Run-Offs, helping to cure the city’s population when they were exposed to the Blockbuster serum by Raptor and Pigeon.

Grace would later return to Gotham City, acting as a violent vigilante against pirates, poachers and human traffickers. However, he return became fraught with tragedy as her young nephew Jonah (who she hadn’t yet met) was one of many lives lost in a mad scheme by Melmoth The Wanderer. She soon joined the Gotham City Monsters, a group of mutated and supernatural beings who had all lost someone or otherwise been harmed by Melmoth in a quest to stop him from potentially destroying the Multiverse. Joining forces with Batwoman, the team was able defeat Melmoth and then go their separate ways once more. Since then, Grace has been willing to work with both heroes and villains alike for the greater good and hopes to gain the courage to reconnect with her family one day.
