i'm sorry you're feeling bad love :( i'm always here if you need anyone <333 and for the oc asks i'm curious about what valerie's relationship with her parents would've been like if the situation wasn't. That
ndfjfjfjfjf ty love…… 💞💞💞💞
ahhhh valerie’s situation would have been. Bad. omg i’ve actually made some doodles relating to this WOW if only i had my sketchbook on me rn.
tbh i just dont see it ending well at all. she would probably split time with both frost and surge (they werent together to start with i believe? may change that but they split pretty quickly) and frost was Not excited to be raising a child again. she just got rid of the last one, dammit. like with marlow, she does the bare minimum for valerie. just feeds and houses her with none of the love. she would mostly just ignore her daughter and pawn her off to other people as much as possible.
surge would be comparatively better but…. they do not know how to interact with kids. theyre a battle-worn brute who isnt afraid to use underhanded tactics to get what they want…. and i think valerie was always gonna be the softer type. so its a relationship thatd probably be better once she was older and they could bond with her through battling, but i dont think it would have been fantastic during her formative years. theyd probably butt heads a lot due to their different ideals anyways. like theyd have their sweet moments probably, i think at the end of the day if anyone can break surge’s shell, its their daughter, but its like castor and bruno probably where they care about and love each other but there are Unresolved Issues There
valerie would end up being touch starved and not nearly as socially adept as she is in canon. she wouldnt know how to talk to people, she’d be incredibly insecure in her interests, she’d probably have a bad
#and if you mean All That still happened but marlow never got to her….. well#basically the above but shes with frost all the time and its a hell of a lot worse#her static aura would have been even worse and she wouldnt even be argumentative. just quiet#so. marlows not the perfect guardian not by a looooong shot but hes the best shes got in her situation#which is saying something#mail#moonscape#i also dont think she would have come out bc she wouldnt have had the encouragement to explore herself#like what she got from marlow cheri and maya#and her mom is a demeaning person to be around so anything probably would have been scoffed at#so its just all around bad for her#also man i gotta develop surge a bit more bc they’re actually important sjfjdjfj#some of their stuff is recent bc i had to justify changing them to be a hisuian samurott instead of the unova one#with hisuian samurotts lore

I WANNA KNOW YOUR 8PATH POKEMON TEAMS!!!!!
here they are! this is very long as i put some story for a few of my pokémon choices, as well as an explanation on how pokémon fit into the lore of the game. there's also spoilers for the whole game in here, so because of that and the length ive put it all under a readmore.
in this pokémon au, i didn't replace any monsters or animals with pokémon. instead, they're defined as creatures capable of being tamed by humans, capable of evolution, and capable of using magic in some way, shape, or form.
humans are still able to use magic like in the original game, including the dark arts. humans who often fight (i.e. mercenaries and soldiers) still fight with weapons, and fight alongside and/or against pokémon. legendaries exist, but they are not very well known. pokéballs also don't exist yet in this au, so pokémon sometimes come and go as they please. trainers will often only bring 2 or 3 pokémon with them at a time, and very few people have full teams.
and here's the main character teams themselves, in the order i got the characters in during my first playthrough :) each character (for the most part) got 5 regular pokemon and one legendary. i imagine in a gameplay perspective that legendary would be summoned similarly to using a divine skill.
Tressa:
Main team: Meowth, Dragonite, Lapras, Pachirisu, Floatzel
Legendary: Lugia
Meowth: the family pet, who is especially close to tressa. she found it as a stray a few years ago, and has taken care of it ever since. it follows her everywhere.
Dragonite: received as an egg as a gift from Leon when she first set off on her journey. its the child of Leon's Dragonair.
Lugia: in ch3 when Tressa went to search for the Eldrite, she went alone, forgetting to consider the danger in her excitement. when the venomtooth tiger ambushed her, Lugia appeared to help her fight it off. when the rest of the party caught up to help her, Lugia disappeared. it appears again in ch4, and Tressa befriends it.
Olberic:
Main team: Lucario, Aggron, Hisuian Samurott, Arcanine, Staraptor ★
Legendary: Zacian
Lucario: Olberic's oldest pokémon, from his days as a knight. it's too old to battle anymore, so it likes to train the younger members of the party. it and Erhardt's Lucario are littermates.
Aggron: it lived in the Cobbleston area when it was an Aron and liked to follow Olberic around. despite its intimidating appearance, it is very gentle and a bit shy.
Zacian: it and Zamazenta used to fight alongside Olberic and Erhardt, but disappeared during the fall of Hornburg. they reappear when Erhardt saves Olberic during the revolt against Werner in ch4. it is more outgoing and playful than its sister.
Primrose:
Main team: Umbreon, Primarina, Oricorio, Mismagius, Masquerain
Legendary: Yveltal
Primrose does not have any pokemon in the beginning of her story. she used to have a Piplup as a child, but it was killed in the fall of house Azelhart.
Umbreon: a stray Eevee Primrose met not long after ch1. it evolves not long after Primrose comes to really trust her new friends and see them as family. (probably sometime between ch2 and 3)
Primarina: met in the coastlands as a popplio on the party's way to Atlasdam. it reminds her a bit of her Piplup. it gets along well with her Umbreon.
Yveltal: a pokémon that Primrose has kept catching glimpses of since she set out on her journey. she finally meets it face-to-face outside of Everhold expecting to have to battle it, but instead it speaks to her, lending her its support and it's power.
Alfyn:
Main team: Politoed, Meganium, Froakie, Azumarill, Audino
Legendary: Ho-oh
Politoed: a poliwag that Alfyn saved from an injury. it immediately got attached to him.
Meganium: was a gift from Zeph when Alfyn left on his journey, after switching satchels with him. its sweet scent helps soothe Alfyn's patients.
Ho-oh: replaces the ogre eagle from his ch4. instead of chasing it off, he befriends it instead, treating its injuries after the battle.
Therion:
Main team: Liepard, Mimikyu, Chimecho, Meowscarada, Alolan Marowak
Legendary: Lunala
Therion had a Glameow before Darius betrayed him. it fell to it's death when Darius pushed them both off the cliff. Therion later remembers it died trying to cushion the fall for him.
Liepard: found Therion at the bottom of the cliff as a Purrloin and tried to help him. it sticks by his side despite his hesitancy to have a new partner pokémon.
Lunala: when Therion was pushed off the cliff, a Cosmog found him and Purrloin and teleported them near a town so they could get help. it's very elusive, but he can often tell when it's around. it evolves into Cosmoem during ch3 and into Lunala during the confrontation with Darius in ch4.
Chimecho: a Chingling that often wandered around the Ravus estate. it, like Purrloin, decided to follow Therion. despite his apparent annoyance towards it, it evolves pretty quickly.
H'aanit:
Main team: Chien-Pao, Luxray, Braviary, Noivern, Sawsbuck
Legendary: Rayquaza
H'aanit, Z'aanta, and Susanna can all speak to and understand pokémon.
Chien-Pao: Linde!! the only one of her kind, and a reincarnation of one of the treasures of ruin, which were thought to be related somehow to the Gate of Finis. she and Hägen do not age normally, as they are soul-linked (as in the nuzlocke type) with their human companions.
Luxray: the ghisarma in ch1 attacked a pack of Luxray, Luxio, and Shinx. H'aanit saved a Shinx cub from being slaughtered during the confrontation. the Shinx's parents had both been slain, so it decided to stay with her and Linde.
Rayquaza: replaces the dragon from ch3. H'aanit chases it off to get to the herb-of-grace, but it returns in ch4 to help her defeat Redeye.
Ophilia:
Main team: Frosmoth, Chandelure, Togekiss, Alolan Ninetales, Gardevoir
Legendary: Zekrom
Frosmoth: a Snom that Ophilia has had for several years now. she and Lianna befriended their first pokémon together.
Chandelure: a litwick that Ophilia found in the cave of the first flame.
Togekiss: an egg that Ophilia received not long after leaving on her journey.
because Togepi, Litwick, and Snom are quite young and weak, Ophilia has to do most of the battling for her team at first.
Ophilia finds the dark stone during her ch3, after defeating the two cultists.
Zekrom: Matthias was planning to use Zekrom to help unleash Galdera and create his ideal world, however the dark stone refused to react for him. it reacts to Ophilia and is unleashed when she confronts him and Lianna. Zekrom is very levelheaded compared to its counterpart, and is a calming presence to Ophilia and Lianna, despite its intimidating appearance.
Cyrus:
Main team: Reuniclus, Ampharos, Decidueye, Espeon, Sigilyph
Legendary: Reshiram
Reuniclus: a Solosis that Cyrus has had since he started studying at the academy. it's very affectionate towards him, however it seems shy to everyone else. it is clumsy, and afraid of battling at first, causing Cyrus to get into a lot of bad situations. it gets braver over time thanks to Cyrus' patience and care for it.
Espeon: the child of Odette's Flareon. it was especially adventurous as a young Eevee, which made it hard for Odette and her pokémon to take care of it. Cyrus agrees to take care of it on Odette's condition that he be more careful in his investigations.
Cyrus finds the light stone after defeating Yvon.
Reshiram: the light stone was one of the many things Yvon had hoarded for himself. he planned to use Reshiram to exert his own power, however the light stone refused to react to him. it reacts to Cyrus and is unleashed when he confronts Lucia. Reshiram is very hotheaded compared to its counterpart, and Cyrus often has to calm it down.
#asks#ot1#ot1 spoilers#was debating on whether or not to include erhardt's team to this post since i made it to contrast with olberic's#but it felt kind of out of place. maybe some other time#that being said i have a teams for most of the major NPCs (although not all of them have 6 pokemon)#so if anyone's curious about a character feel free to ask

I would love to hear your Legends Arceus thoughts! I got it a couple months ago and I'm having so much fun with it!
WOUGHHH I LOVE LEGENDS ARCEUS SO MUCHHH the Legends choice was easily one of the best decisions Pokemon has made with its video games in years and I genuinely would LOVE to see them do another one (Legends Unova pleeeease god)--I love this idea of going back to old regions and doing something new with them, new story, new gameplay, new exploration of this vast world theyve had cooked up for over a decade. And new POKEMON!! I really enjoy like all of the Hisuian Pokemon theyve added...The concept of making regional variants for older gen regions RULES, and I love how this game gives some lovin to some lackluster older 'mons by giving them evolutions that SHRED LIKE HELL. OVERQWIL. SNEASLER. URSALUNA MY BELOVED.
(also, regional variant starter evolutions is SUCH a phenomenal idea and I wanna see it again so bad!! Hisuian Samurott legitimately my new all time favorite water type. He's perfect)
when I was a kid I was really into exploring DPP's legendary lore and having my self insert OC hang out with Sinnoh legendaries and a lot of PLA's everything really just makes me feel so soft and nostalgic... game middle schooler me would have gone Absolutely Insane for. I love the story and the characters, Pokemon is really gettin good at Characters these past few games--even when the actual game is weaker the charaters still feel very memorable and fun. I love you Cogita my beautiful wife Cogita. And Like. My God. There is SO much lore tucked in that game that I wish it made more of an effort to tip you off towards, shit i'm only just learning RECENTLY, hidden tidbits extremely off the map and underexplained. It is very very cool and I hope if they do another Legends game there's more secrets to unearth. Cuz that's like, probably one of my favorite aspects of the game is just...wandering around the map, sightseeing. I get why some people feel like the maps are kind of empty but I honestly don't mind it very much...it's peaceful. I like just scurrying around looking at things, listening to the world.
also on that note: god the music is fantastic. I love the way this game approached the motifs and music from Diamond and Pearl, all the tracks in PLA kick so much ass and/or Unlock a Tremendous Sense of Nostalgic Tenderness Within Me. The Lake Theme is one of my favorites; when the motif from the DPP original version kicks in i get a little misty eyed i must admit... (also the Late Night Field Theme. holy shit. the first time i heard it i got CHILLS. OUGH.)
It's not a perfect game of course, the Getting a Little (A Lot) Playfully Colonialist inherent to the Galaxy Corps and their place in Hisui is. not fantastic.😬 And it's got little bugs and glitches and graphics that could have used another year in the oven. But damn if it's not some of the most fun I've ever had with a Pokemon game. it really feels like a weirder older spinoff game, like something that woulda come out in gen 5, but it actually gets classed as a mainline series game and i love that about it.
And i hope you continue to have fun with it!! The late game stuff is really a treat imo. So much great OST tracks headed your way :3c i Really need to go back into PLA myself and actually complete my dex and battle Arceus but time keeps running away from me....one day. i will get back in there. I'm very fond of Hisui ;__;
heres a picture of my H-Samurott plush his name is Kaiser and he's my friend ❤
#i also love the spacetime rifts like what a delightful way to include pkmn that wouldnt nessecarily make sense in the space#its just a fantastically creative game which this franchise desperately needs#pokemon chattering#asks#anonymous#PLA really feels like such a love letter to the gen 4 games.#im really happy thinking about kids who got to play this as one of their first pkmn games. something rly special there!!

👫(giving you full creative liberties here, but let's try... Zinnia and Tamako)
Four Headcanons! | Accepting
You'd think that Zinnia and Tamako met through Zinnia's friendship with Morgan, but you'd be surprisingly wrong. Instead, Zinnia's been investigating the phenomenon of people from the Hisui region suddenly appearing in present-day Sinnoh for a while, and she encountered Tamako that way.
Zinnia pretends to act as a rival for Tamako. Being a gym leader that is strong enough to defeat Wallace, she's much stronger of a trainer than Tamako, but she changes out her team to adjust accordingly. Zinnia does it to keep an eye on Tamako both for more information of her origins and also to make sure that she's safe. It's an act that Zinnia ensures that Tamako knows that it is such, but Zinnia's not one to give away her true intentions that easily.
Zinnia has fought Kusanagi before... like, with her fists. In fact, she'd do it more often if Tamako lets her. Hisuian Samurott is really interesting to her.
Tamako does not know yet about the fact that Zinnia is Rayquaza's Lorekeeper, but has a hatchling that Zinnia's at least tangentially associated with several Legendary Pokémon. They're more likely to meet around ancient ruins, big mythological sights and whenever Tamako needs to find more information about Dialga. Zinnia gives lore on the myths that she knows, but Zinnia is slippery, so there's a chance that she'll disappear right after.

Rate the regional variants (and also the convergent evolutions)
I’m starting with a particular one purely because I absolutely hate it
I l o t h e Galarian Meowth and Perrseker. I hate them. I hate them both. -75/10
Now I absolutely adore alolan vulpix and ninetails 75/10
Now-
Alolan forms!
Rattata line: 10/10 simple, affective changes, but totem Raticate was such a big bitch for me to fight in sun and moon jccyuytcnio
Raichu: 12/10 I love alolan Raichu! I also adore the lore that they surf on their tail and that’s what the extra points are for-
Sandshrew line: 6/10? I like alolan Sandshrew more then normal Sandshrew, but I like normal Sandslash more then the alolan version
Diglett line: 10/10 diglett itself doesn’t have a huge change but DUGTRIO KILLS ME- the fucking wigggssss-
Meowth line: 10/10 again, simple effective changes, I like em
Geodude line: 3/10? I don’t really like base geodude and Gravler that much and the regional variant doesn’t make it better. I don’t mind Golem or Alolan Golem though
Grimer and Muk: 2/10 I don’t mind Grimer but Muk is just. So. Bright? So colorful? And the colors almost don’t work together but they do? I don’t know alolan Muk is funky in a bad way-
Exeggutor: 17/10 N E C K I love it here anamaakajsjs
Marowak: 10/10 some more simple, effective changes, love it
Galarian forms!
Ponyta and Rapidash: 10/10 I like my little pony. Leave me alone.
Farfetch’d: 10/10 simple, effective, changes. It’s a very cool bird man
Weezing: 10/10 it’s design makes me laugh and I like the smoke stack look of the hat
Mr.Mime: 5/10 I don’t even like Mr. Mime. It’s still creepy. But it does look…very different- Mr. Rime is the best one here
Corsola: 10/10 it makes me sad but it’s a very cool idea and design change
Zigzagoon line: 10/10 don’t mind these guys but I do really like obstagoon it’s funny to me-
Darumaka line: 3/10 I don’t like any of these guys but I really don’t like glarian Darmanitan‘s standard form at all
Yamask line: 8/10? Don’t mind the actual designs of Yamask and Runerigus but why is it so hard to get-
Stunfisk: 0/10 I don’t like these changes and I don’t know what they were going for if anything at all
Slowpoke line: 3/10 m e h the colors are sorta random? Slowking looks like it’s being consumed though I don’t like it-
Articuno: 10/10 PRETTY
Zapdos: 4/10 the black makes the orange and yellow really stark and harsh-
Moltres: 10/10 cool fire bird! Tbh I wish Yveltal was more like this-
Hisui forms!
Growlithe line: 10/10 FLUFFY FIRE BABYYY and fluffy storm cloud Arcanine-
Voltorb and Electrode: 10/10 I really love that their whole designs are now like references to the history of pokeballs and they way they were originally made vs the mass manufactured versions and the whole thing of handmade items with love and work put in vs the easy, cheaper alternative
Typhlosian: 17/10 IT LOOKS SO COOLLLL
Qwilfish: 10/10 cool simple change to the basic design! Overqwil also looks reallllyy cool!
Sneasel: 17/10 again I actually like Hisuian Sneasel much, much, more then normal Hisuian. It’s 100% the colors. I like sneasler alright
Samurott: 5/10? If you read through the starter post you know I don’t really like the normal form of this guy but I do like the Hisui form better- the black and red just go better with the blue to me. Plus the like…crooked horn is cool
Lilligant: 5/10 I don’t dislike the Hisui form I just ADORE the normal version it’s so fucking cute-
Basculin: 5/10? Pure neutrality here. Do like Basculegion though.
Zorua line: 12/10 I love base forms and making them WHITE and red I love it here-
Braviary: 5/10 Meh for both forms
Sliggoo line: 9/10 I love the idea of it having these like disk shells that became part of their bodies over time-
Avalugg: 3/10- the normal ones are a 0/10 but the three is for the idea of Avalugg specifically. Like it used to have rock legs but evolved to have a fully ice body-
Decidueye: 5/10 m e h. I like base Decidueye better
Paldian forms!
Taurus: 10/10 this idea is really cool and I don’t mind the designs
Wopper: 10/10 little derp becomes derpy in different ways
Convergent species
Toedscool/cruel: 10/10 This is really cool and interesting idea! My brother calls it lazy but that’s him
Wigglet and wugtrio: 10/10 wtf is this man. Who’s sassy lost ground type is this?

which one do i prefer? ooooh thats a tough question. honestly i won't know for sure until i finish legends arceus I think. which, might take a while because theres like a hundred side quests and ofc my completionist ass needs to do them all 😭 story-wise, I'd have to go with sv right now, but that may change.
I always lean towards grass starters so i can't help ya there :,) the quaxly line is incredibly goofy looking imo & there's no shame in going with what the heart wants, even if it differs from your usual choice - i ended up going with cyndaquil in legends instead of rowlet!
i hadn't shiny hunted very often before sv, but when i did i had incredible odds 😅 like i tried chain fishing and the very first mon i pulled up was shiny. got pretty lucky hatching snivy eggs too iirc. but i could never get the hang of chaining, the grass shakes always looked exactly the same to me 💀
yes! xy is peak pokemon fashion. i bought so many clothes in that game lmao. legends arceus has some neat clothes but they're mostly just reskins of the same few designs that I've seen, so far.
no spoilers, that i can do! but imo it's really heartwarming and a little heartbreaking too. there's this one character i disliked at first, but over time they grew on me like a mold (affectionate). in terms of the l:a story, you have a god given quest to catch em all & you kinda just solve everybody else's problems along the way, it seems.
if you are interested in getting scarlet or violet, definitely look at the version exclusives because they've got some cool late game mons. i like the scarlet ones better than violet but i wanted my pretty knight lmao. i just traded my exclusives for my boyfriend's & it all worked out :]
the last game I played was sumo but i stopped after beating the 1st gym 😅 been thinking about going back and playing through some older games since i do have em all on my 3ds now...
& dw about reply late! I'm not typically online on weekends very often either nowadays :)
- 🌸
ohhh I'm such a sucker for sidequests too like what's the point if I don't finish it all and help out all these poor people 🤨
nah I just feel like I'm betraying my water starter roots 😭 but god if pokemon doesn't nail the grass starters every time!!!!! if I end up with legends arceus I can't deny it I would probably choose rowlet 🦉🌱 hehe hisuian typhlosion looks a lil funny to me. and honestly I'm not tooooo familiar with samurott's design I think? so every time I see the hisuian version it just looks the same to me 😅 but I love what they did with the decidueye variant!!
LMAO yes that does sound pretty lucky. I've never shiny hunted before period so I'll probably have to look up how to even shiny hunt when I begin doing it
well I say no spoilers but I think I may have seen some things abt scarlet violet's lore regarding the profs being the reason for time travel.... I stopped reading after that initial glance though. nauurrr not a mould 😭😭😭 but was it ummm gavin? nvm I just googled I meant arven 💀💀💀 but was it him? I also heard that nemona is very love her or hate her 🤔
yes I'll definitely look at the dex if I choose to buy don't you worry 🫡 I remember wanting scarlet more just bc of the prof 👁👁 but I was seeing lotssss saying violet was better.... so this is interesting insight from you 🤔
#I see why you use the coloured font now this thing is fun and definitely underused!!!!#reply#flower anon

Hi! I’m Fox!
Fox Lore Speedrun? Ran away from home, was raised by a zoroark, ate raw meat, joined Interpol when I was ten, lost my zoroark parent at sixteen, gained a team of pokemon that I would commit crime for, Gained a discord server I’d fly across the ocean for, moved to Unova, quit Interpol, moved in with my dad Norman and my sibling Isla @darktypetrauma (Hi Isla!!), found out I never actually worked for Interpol, finally grieved for all I lost, started healing, and now I’m here!
My gender is like. Zoroark. I’m a zoroark and my sense of self is ever changing. My pronouns are she/her they/them it/its paw/paws pup/pups fluff/fluffs bite/bites pounce/pounceself ♥️/♥️s 🔅/🔅s and I’ll probably collect more.
My Pokémon! Oh, my babies!
Grapple the braviary. I’ve used she/her for her since I met her and she’s fine with it… apparently braviary are all male but she doesn’t care, so?
Storm the Hisuian Samurott- I was raising this guy because scientists wanted to see how a hisuian Pokémon raised by one human as opposed to a team would develop. That’s why I was stationed in Sinnoh for a year. Which allowed me to meet a lot of other Pokémon too! Storm is a big softie, he doesn’t really battle but he likes being around in the same room as family.
Crumb Cake the riolu that hates everything. He’s my friend my buddy! Well. Not really. I rescued him from a hording situation and for months and months I made no progress. He hated me, he hated my other pokemon. But then I found a stray glameow, and then an egg, and he started opening up. Now he lets me touch him, and even if he doesn’t like any other people he let me take him to the Pokémon center and. He’s a level 64 riolu. I don’t know how he got that strong but for now I’m learning how to battle so he can get his energy out safely!
Crime the Weaville. I met him when he stole my knife. Nowadays he has a prop knife and settled down with…
Punishment the Sneasler. She’s pretty mellow, and adjusted really well to modern life. She’s one of two Pokémon I ended up with while helping investigate a shady hisuian revival group.
Virtute the Hisuian Zoroark. They’re my baby. Named after Virtute the purrloin explains her departure. They were verrrry scared to be in modern times at first, but slowly, slowly, they’ve adjusted. Nowadays they’re interested in battling! And they evolved!!!
Pudding the glameow. I found her when she was probably a few weeks old, and she’s part of why Crumb settled down. She’s verrry close to the other little ones, including
Madoka the togepi! I found her egg in the snow on a walk, had a breakdown, ran barefoot in the snow to the nearest Pokémon center, and took care of the egg. She’s a cute little baby who likes blowing razz berries at the people she loves.
Blossom and Breeze the hisuian growlithe. Adopted from the shelter my long lost twin’s mom works at. Breeze is bigger and he has a twisted paw, Blossom is smaller and she’s higher energy
Lake the shiny zoroark. Yeah so one night I was trying to bully uncle Emmet and found him in the woods. It wasn’t him. Lake needed medical care and used illusions to lure me to it. I took them to a center and they followed me home. They don’t have a pokeball.
Cheri and Sitrus, drakloak and her dreepy. Cheri crawled into my tent while camping, made me throw it until it brought back a second, shiny dreepy, Sitrus. Cheri evolved, and Sitrus sits on her head!
I’m a cane user, and. I guess? I count as disabled? I was in a cave in, and injured and that injury gets in the way of. Normal living. And that’s what disabled means. I’m still coming to terms with it but it’s the truth.
(OOC: blanket “pretending a fictional media is real” warning for this blog. Main blog is @stormcloudsandshadows so I’ll follow back from there.)

hrmmm. this goes against my no dupes rule pretty hard but... i kinda wanna pick oshawott for my new psmd team instead of fennekin?
#i wasnt considering it bc i have oshawott in my gti team#and this is just me but i never saw the point in picking pikachu or the unova starters in this game#cause gti's options are so limited while psmd has so much more. even tho im a big unova fan and theyre my fave pre gen 7 trio#i just felt like i had to go with the other options#but now im imagining oshawott paired with riolu and theyre both blue and cute and aughhh hrmm...#maybe ill go with what feels right when i first start the game#also then there'd be a regular unovan samurott in canon starfall lore to contrast the hisuian one#cause idk if kiran evolves all the way in gti yet. so far xey're just a dewott#maybe its just that im on an oshawott kick tho#echoed voice#pmd posting

Now that the newest games have been out for a while I began to do a retrospective of Pokémon from the last games, specifically the G*lar dex, witch prior, and very well might still be, my least favorite dex among any of the games, note that by Dex I mean any new Pokémon the games add
Beforehand I only really liked Frosmoth and sandaconda, and a bunch of the regional forms, mostly runeagregius (probably not spelled right) and curseola, those two likely being among my favorite Pokémon period, as well as obstagoon of course, and although I don’t really consider Hisuian mon to be a part of the galar dex, if I have to include some I really like Hisuian samurott, zoarark, goodra, and basculegion
Let’s start with the two Regis that galar added
If I recall correctly, when these two were revealed, it was a fucking shitshow, I don’t think anybody really asked for more Regis, of course, you’d see art videos on YouTube making Regis for each element, but I don’t really think those correlated that well to fan demand, not to mention that the Regis, especially regidrago, initially seemed to impede rather heavily on the lore, how would Regigigas make Regis representative of the dark ages and modern era respectively if they were trapped in the bad bitch baby hole for the last couple of thousands of years, and initially I was on this bandwagon as well, but now that I have had time to reflect on these two Pokémon I think I like them a lot more then I origionally did
Starting with regidrago, I still heavily dislike this fucking thing, like look at it, seriously, what the fuck is that, that better not be a fucking charlizard skull, that overrated shit!, but in comparison to the “dude how did you mine bedrock” status I had it in origionally it’s a big improvement, granted there’s still a 50% chance it ruins the lore, wait, 50% chance? How could that be? Well the other day I was checking bulbapedia, as a cultist might frantically read as much of their religious texts as they can, and there was a note in the trivia tab that piqued my interest
“The five Legendary titans may collectively be themed after historical epochs, with Regidrago representing the Middle Ages, a period known for its legends of dragons. Alternatively, Regidrago may represent the Mesozoic, the era when dinosaurs walked the Earth which is also known as the Age of Reptiles.” -bulbapedia, regidragos page, specifically under trivia, in the “origins” subcategory
The Mesozoic era, and the dinosaur and dragons connection was already at least partially made thanks to tyrantum, Egad! This stupid looking asshole might not actually ruin the lore that has been previously established, and that was frankly half of the reason I hated this fucking thing to begin with, granted the other half is just as vast and numerous, but it’s only enough for me to dislike it, not hate it
As for Regieleki I’m honestly convinced the only reason this thing had a lot of backlash was because it was unfortunate enough to be introduced along with regidrago, but once you seperate the two from each other you begin to notice that regieleki isn’t really that bad, the most cringe thing about it is that it’s faster then nincada (nincada supremacy), but outside of that there is little problem to be had with it, especially lore wise
If we are to assume that regigigas was canonically released from its bad bitch baby hole in the origional sinnoh games, and that the time between the games is the canonical amount of years they are set apart from one another (as implied in black/white and black/white 2, as the two were released almost 2 years apart and they are canonically 2 years apart in universe, and to a lesser extent the gen 1 and 2 games as well) that means that the OG sinnoh games are 12 years apart from the galarian games (13 if you are counting the Japanese releases specifically and not the international releases) and although I’m not an expert on golem making, the pumpkins from Halloween have rotted and I don’t have enough cubic meters of snow or pure iron around to utilize said pumpkins, I’d imagine 12-13 years is more then enough time for regigigas to learn about the modern world and make a regi representative of it, and as such I actually kinda dropped hating it a long time ago and kinda like regieleki now
As you might notice I don’t actually hate these Pokémon anymore, granted I still dislike one but that’s quite the step up from hating both, and if they are doing pre-ice age time periods (as regidrago implies) I kinda wanna see them do more, imagine an aquatic based Cambrian one, or a molten-magma based hadean period, or an insectoid Carboniferous period, or a more mammalian one to represent the Cenozoic era more broadly, I think they actually used these two to open up a lot more potential down the line
Damn, that was a mouthful, let’s do it once again regarding the fossil Pokémon (this one will be shorter I pro-)
I initially didn’t like the fossil Pokémon Galar added, and to an extent I still think a couple of them are misses, granted, I think the concept behind them is pretty damn solid, it represents a period of time where a bunch of rich British assholes tried to farm prestige by making ad many new species of fossils they can with whatever random ass animal fossils they had lying around, ending up creating what are somewhat amalgamations of different animals that actually existed, and I think they execute the concept somewhat solidly, especially the ones regarding the fish head, the (albeit cartoony) bodyhorror astetic some of them have works really well with the concept at large, they just never sat right with me for some reason, probably because they utilized parts of Pokémon we haven’t seen before, and I guess that ambiguity might be part of the appeal, especially to a lot of people, but it didn’t really do it for me, I was mostly kinda salty that they didn’t add an electric raptor or whatever instead, and I kinda wonder if this concept might have been font better if they used preexisting fossil Pokémon parts instead, what kinda made this loss hit harder especially for a fossil fan myself is that Pokémon dosent really seem like they want to make many fossils anymore, they didn’t for Hawaii (witch makes sense, Hawaii is geographically new, and as such lacks many fossils) but the lack of any new fossils in paldea kinda ended up confirming to me that this was more coincidental then a homage to alolas geography, also, like, come on, it’s 10 generations now and we don’t have an actual raptor Pokémon, or a stego, or a plesiosaur of a dunkleo, witch is what I’m sure all four of the galarian fossil parts are based off of, actually we lack a triceratops too the fuck is up with that (bastiodon dosent count, fuck that thing, there is no bastiodon in Ba Sing Se), also, it kinda takes me out that the only person in the entirety of Galar who knows how to revive fossils is a crazy motherfucker that disregards the ethicacy of these Pokémon, like I know that’s kinda accurate to British politics but COME ON
… honestly I’m not sure if the fossil rant was longer or shorter then the regi rant, I might have just lied to my audience lmao, this time it will be shorter lmao, lemme do a quick bullet point of some others
-none of the starters ever really did it for me and they still dont
-I don’t like how the armored knight motif for corvinight came out of nowhere, and that kinda impacts how much I like the mon, granted it was kinda implied with the pre evo being “corvisquire” that’s more of a broader midevil motif in my eyes, with the armored knight motif being a sub-motif of sorts, and unlike some other moms where the sub-motif kinda comes out of nowhere (meowscarada for example, middle and final evo use the showman motif with latter adopting more of a jester submotif) I don’t think it’s as bad there because the jester submotif is only part of the design, and as such is easier to ignore, meanwhile corvinight is literally clad in armor, making that submotif almost impossible to ignore, if I were to change this line I’d probably give corvisquire a leather tunic (actuate to actual midevil squires for the most part) to ease in that submotif, maaaybe give rookidee (and thus corvisquire most likely as a result) a leather cap, but that’s probably more optional
-I actually don’t mind the regional gen 1 birds, I used to hate them much like the Regis, but I kinda stopped a lot of my hate when I realized that, unlike most other legendaries, the gen 1 birds were never really implied to only be the one trio, unlike most other legendaries that have mythologies or other roles that basically mostly facilitates that there’s only one of them, at least only one of them that’s in the spotlight, also galarian moltres and zaptos are blatant redisignes of the kantonian ones, witch prior would be one of the few Pokémon I’d say really needed an update, like seriously, what the fuck is kantonian moltres, as for kantonian zapdos It’s a bit more complicated, obviously since the origional gen 1 games lacked color, and it’s typing wasent obvious conceptually unlike magneton (whose literally a fucking magnet) it’s electric typing had to be implied via spiky appendages/fur/feathers/markings, similar to jolteon, pikachu, or electribuzz, and while I think for these latter three it aged quite well, i don’t think it really did for the OG zapdos
-I still don’t really like hatterene, the way I see it it’s just kinda gardevior again with a a bit of elegem thrown in, a funni tentacle, and the trans color pallate (witch sylveon did better sue me I dare you), and the violent girlboss astetic I feel like the later tinkaton just does better, I also don’t really like it when Pokémon are only one sex unless they are either outright genderless or have an explicit counterpart that’s the opposite sex (tauros and miltank for example), like how would these Pokémon even reproduce? Are they manmade creations and as such soley rely on ditto? I also feel like it’s just cooler for Pokémon that look traditionally masculine or feminine to be able to be both sexes (witch is why I really like gardevior and flomantis, dispite both looking traditionally feminine they have a 50/50 chance to be a male or a female) granted a couple of Pokémon I really like express this “one sex” critique as well, namely lilligant and Tinkaton, and I will not defend them in that regard either, but who knows, maybe I’ll like hatterene here more with time
Dragapult is another that dosent really do it for me, I like how they unobjectively tried to do something really creative with this regions psuedo (witch you can’t say about a lot of others *cough* baxcalibur *cough*) but my main issue with dragapult is that I feel like they went in too many different directions, like it’s a stealth bomber astetically, it’s a dragon and a ghost, and it’s a parental figure, and it uses catapult esque launching bays to launch its children at its enemies….. ok, yeah, that’s a bit much, I feel like if they stuck to a couple of these astetics it would have worked a lot better
… oh my god the onslaught is finally over, my neurodivergant ass finally ran out of shit to rant about, if you liked it that’s epic, and if you dont I honestly want to hear your own opinions about galarian Pokémon, maybe you could change my dumbass, or at the very least we get a cool discussion out of it

Media & Mythos #1 - Hisuian Starters
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is one of my favorite Pokemon games, not only because of its unconventional yet incredibly fun gameplay, but the way that it incorporates not only Japanese (Yamato) culture but Ainu and Hokkaido culture as well. There are many issues with regards to how PLA writes how the Galaxy Team and the native Hisuians interact within the story, but that is not the focus of this post.
In Ainu culture, the “kamuy” is a divine being that possesses a sort of spiritual energy or serves as a protector of an object, place, or idea. Like the Japanese “kami,” the Ainu term “kamuy” has a wide range of meanings that does not neatly translate into English. It is similar to the Greek “daemon,” which is a divine spirit that usually presides or lords upon a concept or natural force though his not predisposed to good or evil. According to John Batchelor’s The Ainu and Their Folk-lore, "the Ainu apply their term for god to such a variety of objects, both to the greatest and highest good, and also to the lowest and most malignant evil...”
Although the concept of the kamuy as it is is not in Legends Arceus, the starters of the game still allude to the different kamuy present in Ainu religion. The final evolutions of the starters - Decidueye, Typhlosion, and Samurott - exemplify the Ainu culture that Legends Arceus pulls much inspiration from.
Figure 1: Hisuian Decidueye (left) and the Blakiston’s fish owl (right)
Starting off with the Grass-type starter, Hisuian Decidueye may be based off of Chikap-kamuy (or Kotankor-kamuy, as some sources say). Chikap-kamuy is the kamuy of the land that takes the form of a great owl. In Ainu belief, the owl is said to be a watchful entity that presided over the relationship between the humans and the kamuy. It also presides over rituals and monitors whether humans carry them out.
In one legend, Chikap-kamuy sends several birds to the Heavens to deliver a message about a famine. However, Chikap-kamuy’s message was very long, taking several days to even recite. The hondo crow listens first, but dozes off. Therefore, Chikap-kamuy kills it. The mountain jay listens second, but dozes off too. Therefore, Chikap-kamuy kills it as well. The Siberian dipper listens third, and listens respectfully for six days and nights. Therefore, Chikap-kamuy lets it go, where it delivers the message to the Heavens.
The dipper returns to deliver the message that the humans had grown disdainful of the gifts from the kamuy, so the kamuy stopped sending their gifts. Chikap-kamuy then taught the humans how to hunt fish and offer the heads of deer to the inau (ritualistic wood-shaved sticks used in many Ainu practices). The kamuy are happy and the humans learn how to properly carry out rituals. “This myth both serves as an explanatory myth for the relationship with these animals and reemphasizes to the Ainu listeners the importance of making proper offerings, and of the proper ritual behavior that, because of the uncertainties of their lives, tried to ensure their survival.” (Michael Ashkenazy’s Handbook of Japanese Mythology)
Hisuian Decidueye and Chikap-kamuy share many similarities. For one, one of the inspirations for Decidueye seems to be the Blakiston’s fish owl, which lives within the Hokkaido region. According to Bulbapedia, “Hisuian Decidueye is said to have a stalwart, fierce personality, although it will tolerate those who do not act hostile towards it... It tends to have a nomadic lifestyle, wandering the region in search of food.” This is consistent of Chikap-kamuy’s distant nature as a watchful and fierce protector of the land. Though, Chikap-kamuy is not known to be a kamuy who is quick to fight, so perhaps Decidueye’s Fighting-type is a reference to Chikap-kamuy’s temper or derived from another inspiration entirely.
Figure 2: Hisuian Typhlosion (left) and a traditional Ainu household (right)
Moving onto the Fire-type starter, Hisuian Typhlosion may be based off of Kamuy-fuchi. Kamuy-fuchi is the kamuy of the hearth. It is said that she lives in the hearth within each home, as the hearth is the gateway to which the humans and kamuy can communicate with each other. She is one of the most important and powerful kamuy in the Ainu pantheon. She presides not only over the hearth but of domestic affairs and the household.
The hearth is also considered the residence of the dead, acting as a sort of underworld. Therefore, Kamuy-fuchi is considered a psychopomp, or one that guides the souls of the dead. Although Kamuy-fuchi rests at night, the hearth must never be extinguished. Her duty is so important that she never leaves the household, and employs other kamuy to act for her in the outside world.
According to legend, Kamuy-fuchi is the one who taught women how to make the kut (sacred belt worn on the lower abdomen that traces a woman’s matrilineal line). She is known to watch over mothers, for when a woman is going to give birth, a new fire is laid at the birthing place. “[T]hough she was served by men, her ties to women insured some balance between the sexes, at least inasmuch as familial and household affairs were concerned. Her myths demonstrate the relative independence and power that women assumed in Ainu society.” (Michael Ashkenazy’s Handbook of Japanese Mythology)
Hisuian Typhlosion’s typing pays homage to Kamuy-fuchi’s role as both a protector of the hearth and guide of the dead. According to Bulbapedia, “When eating spirits, it is believed that the spirits are purified by Hisuian Typhlosion's flames, before they are guided back to the afterlife where they belong.” Kamuy-fuchi is, as stated before, a psychopomp figure, and her hearth is kept pure by the humans. She does not eat spirits, but perhaps it is more of a symbolic reference than anything, since fire has a purifying aspect to it in many cultures.
As a bonus, Hisuian Typhlosion’s signature move Infernal Parade may be based off of the Hyakki Yagyō, or the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. The Night Parade was a large parade of yōkai that manifested in the dead of night. It was seen as a sign of ill omen. “On nights when the grotesque procession worked its way across what was then the furthest edge of town, residents were obliged to take refuge in their homes lest they wind up sick, mutilated, or blinded by the sheer sight of its monstrous participants.” (Hiroko Yoda’s Japandemonium Illustrated: The Yokai Encyclopedias of Toriyama Sekien) This ties in with the Ghost-typing of the move, since yōkai often translates to “ghost” or “spirit.”
Figure 3: Hisuian Samurott (left) and an orca whale (right)
And finally, the Water-type starter Hisuian Samurott may be based off of Repun-kamuy. Repun-kamuy is the kamuy of the sea that takes the form of an orca. As a young child, he was known to be devious and unruly, though not truly unkind. He was an important kamuy because he provided gifts and food from the sea.
In one story, Repun-kamuy hunted a whale and her young and three them besides a village. A sea wren told him that the humans are cutting up the whales’ meat without showing the proper care to it. However, Repun-kamuy only laughed and said that the humans may do whatever they please with the meat, for it is theirs.
Later, Repun-kamuy saw that the sea wren had lied, and the humans cut up the whales’ meat with their sacred weapons while wearing their finest clothing. Feeling so grateful from the prayers and rituals of the humans, he held a grand feast for his fellow kamuy. He then declared that humans would know no famine, for the sea would keep them fed. “The mutually dependent relations of humans and kamui are well represented in this myth: The humans need food from nature (stranded whales were a major item of food), and the kamui need the prayers and offerings of the humans.” (Michael Ashkenazy’s Handbook of Japanese Mythology)
This comparison between Hisuian Samurott and Repun-kamuy is, unlike the other two, rather scant in terms of similarities and evidence. According to Bulbapedia, “Hisuian Samurott is said to have a cold and hard-hearted nature, and is deft with its shell blades. Unlike its Unovan counterpart, which prefers fighting fair, Hisuian Samurott will do anything to win a battle, and prefers to use tricks such as surprise attacks and cheap shots.” To my knowledge, Repun-kamuy is not an unfair or cruel god, merely a carefree and mischievous one. The plating on the back of Hisuian Samurott’s head somewhat resembles that of an orca (without the horn, obviously, since orcas don’t have horns). These differences are certainly due to differing inspirations for the Pokemon, though both Samurott and Repun-kamuy have a connection to water and the sea.
Although the Hisuian starters have varying inspirations for their designs and personalities, there is an undeniable link between them and the kamuy worshipped by the Ainu.

Can you tell us any extra bits of ninjago Pokémon au lore? :0
Yessss of course anon <333
So I do have full teams for everyone but I’m just gonna talk about extra stuff that I thought of for no reason
Basically, Kai and Nya work a pokeball making shop instead of blacksmithing, because I think them being the “Kurt” of the world is very very cool and they make their own poke balls! That’s why they have hand crafted ones (Kai used fast balls on all his team, and Nya used lure balls) (also also, Lloyd has friend balls which are also crafted, and that’s a little RGB siblings thing because I think they helped him catch his first Pokémon and taught him how to make his own :])
I also think they continue to make their own poke balls even when with the team because they have crafting kits like from legends Arceus and when jay or someone is like “ok i gotta go buy some poke balls real quick” Kai and Nya are like “?????? You BUY them????” And then they try to teach everyone else how to craft their own! :] (though to varying success)
I think that also kai and nya have Pokémon that live at their house that they didn’t “catch” because they’re either wild and chilling, or they were Ray and Maya’s and can’t be caught. Like there’s a carkoal and milotic that were Ray and Maya’s, but there’s also a chimecho that, while not caught officially, still evolved via friendship because Kai and Nya really liked the little guy :] and he lets them know when a customer enters like a little bell on a door!
Plus, as some added weird lore that doesn’t make much sense, I gave Wu, Garmadon, and Lloyd the hisuian starters to keep them Connected. Bascially, Lloyd gets (shiny) hisuian decidueye (and it’s very funny because he thinks it’s a normal rowlet until it evolves and then BOOM it’s revealed to be a regional variant thats hundreds of years old) Garmadon gets hisuian samurott because he’s dark type and he’s soooo edgy oooo (though he gives so many treats to his little guys) and wu gets typhlosion I guess since it’s the last one
#sugartalks#ninjago pokemon au#I know it was mostly Kai and Nya lore but I THINK ABOUT THEM SO MUCH#Nya smith#Kai smith#Lloyd Garmadon

Toh pmd thoughts before I forget them
Luz is an oshawatt and later is a hisuian samurott because otter with a dark side
Eda is a shiny hisuian decidueye and she's hisuian because of the owl curse, and the owl beast is just being an alpha pokemon and going feral and whatnot
King is a cubone (kinda expected lol) and he's the "son???" of arceus. I need to work on this a little more
Lilith is an alolan decidueye but she still splits the curse with Eda
I can't actually figure out a pokemon for Amity because I want to associate abomination magic with poison types but I can't seem to find a poison type that fits her (I'd choose hisuian sneasel but I can't for reasons I'll get to later)
Maybe bulbasaur for Willow bc it's grass type but also poison type???
Gus is a shiny unovan zorua bc yaa illusions. I'm thinking about having him evolve at the end of labyrinth runners, but I'm a bit iffy about it rn
Hunter. Ooo boy!! Hunters a ditto!! I'll explain later, but he's got a different form for each parent figure (not canon to the au but something I thought would be fun)
Hunter as The Golden Guard is whatever pokemon Caleb is. I'm thinking shiny growlithe but we'll just wait and see
Hunter Clawthorne is a shiny hisuian cyndaquil/quilava/typhlosion just to complete the hisui starter trio
Hunter Deamonne is a shiny hisuian sneasel bc Darius is a sneasler yayyy
That's all I have so far :)
No idea what Belos is gonna be
As I said already, Darius is gonna be a sneasler
The Collector is maybe a childish jirachi that just grants his own wishes and doesnt sleep for 1000 years like other jirachis
All grimwalkers are dittos and Belos messes with their brains to make them think they're just whatever pokemon Caleb is.
Belos' little "cook book" for making grimwalkers/dittos is actually a guide to make a mewtwo because I really like that theory that dittos are failed mewtwos but Belos doesn't actually know what a mewtwo is, and since they can't use transform, he thinks that getting a mewtwo would be a fail. He tries to get dittos on purpose
Alright! Lore now! Yay!!
300ish years ago, the Wittebros were sent to pmd land to defeat the Collector (I'm gonna wait until toh actually shows how the Collector is defeated before I put that in the story) and ig back then, humans don't trust pokemon, so that whole thing with Philip trying to kill everyone is still a thing
Eventually, arceus realizes that Philip and Caleb (who's dead by now) aren't doing what they were sent there to do, and they sent Luz instead.
I may think of more later

WHATS YOUR FAV POKEMON OVERALL? MAYBE ONE FROM EACH GEN? TIER LIST?? -CAPS (FORGOT TO SIGN OFF EARLIER BUT YOU'LL KNOW ITS ME ANYWAY HAHA)
My favorite is a tie, Oshawott and Torchic, my two main starters! Torchic was my very first, and Oshawott was so cute and so I had to choose him in pla, and just,,, little otter baby!!! Oh also, shiny suicune for nostalgia, I had a shiny suicune in my second ever Pokémon game- the first I ever actually owned. My first game was Ruby that I borrowed from my moms coworker that had a crush on her.
Gen 1- mewtwo, for the lore and the fact that my first ever oc was part mewtwo- long story.
Gen 2- chicorita! My baby my sweetie! And also shiny suicune
Gen 3- Torchic and zigzagoon
Gen 4- shinx and primal Dialga. Yes primal Dialga is spin-off only. Yes I still count it.
Gen 5- Oshawott and meloetta! My babies!
Gen 6- sylveon! The closest I got a non legendary to lvl 100, he was 80 something!
Gen 7- primarina or sylvally. Pip and Syl my beloveds! Oc for gen 7 my beloved. Her name was Hikari, she went by Bright, and she was a junior international police member
Gen 8- hisuian sneasel. Hisuian Samurott. I am not super attached to sword and shield Pokémon. I’d rather talk about Pokémon legends Arceus. Pla is such a good game!
Gen 9- so far, sprigatito and lechonk.
