I love how in Witch Switch the key to getting Philip to stop being so obsessed with witch hunting.... Is to make friends with actual witches. Thereby humanizing (witchizing? Lol) them to him. One wonders how things might've been different if canon!Philip had ever been befriended by a witch.

I mean, I think that's a BIT reductive, and I don't doubt that Evelyn made some sort of effort when canon Phillip arrived (just based on the Caleb Hug). It's a conglomeration of factors, such as witch-hunting being a side interest and not a societal expectation that he's been raised to believe is the only right path. It's the fact that he accidentally ran away to the demon realm while Caleb is back home in the human realm, rather than Caleb "leaving him for a witch." It's the fact that he's only 14 when he goes to the demon realm, so he's at a place where his worldviews are susceptible to change. Him being a modern 14 year old whose brother has always taken care of him also puts him in a position where he has to be more reliant on witches (mostly Evelyn) around him in order to survive, giving him more time to understand them. And yeah, it's that he makes some genuine friends who are witches. Him having witch friends is by no means a SMALL part of why he stops being obsessed with witch hunting, but it's also not the ONLY factor: there's a lot of subtle background changes to his situation that sets him up to me way more receptive to the idea of witches not being bad, with "making friends with witches" being the major lynchpin that sparks the obvious change.

what is your favorite thing about your family?

“they allow me to share a part of me that i can’t share with anyone else. did you know i love to  c u d d l e  ? it’s a thing. my favorite place is in bed sandwiched between my mums. at the age of twenty-one i will openly admit that i have exactly ZERO shame when crawling into my older sister’s bed some nights because i haven’t seen her all day and texts and facetimes can only do so much. my brothers are a little different, i stopped jumping into bed with them when i found out about morning wood. i refuse to have that poking me when i just want to snuggle, but i will take my love and affection in piggy back rides, practical jokes, and that unconditional love you can only get from the protectiveness of a brother. i will never understand how people get annoyed with their little sisters. i will never have a problem waking up to my baby sister tucked under my arm or wrapped around my waist. it gives me anxiety if i don’t see her every morning before i start my day and every night before i go to sleep. there are of course loads more i could say, but this is the one that means the most to me. i find it hard to open up to people but with my family i am  f r e e ”

“right, let’s get this out of the way. unlike most people here, i will give you  d e f i n i t e  answers. between the one who saved me and the ones who raised me ? my mums. because consistency matters. when you save something then leave it to be someone else’s problem, you lose a couple points. this next one is the hardest one of the bunch. in all honesty i’d go with the one who sided with me that day ( duh ) . but in general, my mum ( nora ) . though, not so sure what good it would do saving her. she won’t live without  m o t h e r . if i can’t save them both i lose them both. tragic. between my sisters ? tanner. this shouldn’t be a surprise, everyone knows i play favorites. in all seriousness, there once was a time i thought izzy and i were the closest. we were both witches. you can say i felt a little  d i v i d e  when i transitioned this year. izzy and i are no longer the same species. it’s sad. all those years i thought we were the same. turns out we’re completely different. although maybe our personalities should have told me that a little earlier in the game. it’s different with tanner, we’ve always been different so nothing changed. between nala and anya, definitely nala. the amount of times she’s gotten my out of trouble with her daddy’s little wannabe task force warrants a little tit for tat wouldn’t you agree ? “
