Orube is one of my favorite characters. Lively, bright, charismatic, brave, rational, empathic and mature. She was present in my favorite story arcs and complemented the plot very well. It was after her disappearance that comics ceased to be interesting to me. In general, I really love and admire her.

And I really like the type of her face in some chapters: a straight nose, high cheekbones and plump lips. She is very beautiful and individual, it's a pleasure to draw her

I automatically thought: Cedric liked Elyon but it wasn't going to work being a princess because Miranda is the perfect thing for him (between girl and monster)

We are finally at the final match that will decide who is the most handsome man in W.I.T.C.H.! I don't care if you're voting with the comic or the cartoon in mind, just vote for your overall favorite!

So who's going to wear the crown of Mr. W.I.T.C.H. this year? Is it going to be PHOBOS, leader of this competition so far, clearly wanting to avenge his honor for not even having been considered for the official poll back in 2002? Will he make it and become the king at least this once?

Or is it going to be CALEB, trying to get the crown back 22 years after the official poll in the comic? His sudden popularity surge in the last couple of days has left PHOBOS uncertain about his plans for a new realm...

While you vote (for an entire week!), let's all salute the defending champion of last year's poll, he really tried hard, but this year he could not compete against Prince Eyebrow and Plant Boy. But he goes home to Orube (or to Phobos, or to Miranda, or I don't know, to his iguana, you choose) with a third place and a bronze medal! From Cedric's screaming closet on Discord we are all extremely proud of our favorite reptile: congrats to CEDRIC for keeping his head up high!

Though I think he's already plotting revenge...

Hello! I would like to ask how you got into W.I.T.C.H. and the reason why you continue to love it?

Oh gosh. A question for the ages.

I was… maybe seven, when I first came across a WITCH magazine in a kiosk shelf. I was in the city with my mom. It was maybe the third or fourth magazine in the series (this is 2001 afterall) and I’d been struck by the pretty art. I later discovered that the girl next door, a year older than I was, had also bought the magazine, and she had numbers one and two as well; so we started cooperating collecting the series, because neither got a a lot of pocket money.

I loved it a lot, because the art was so pretty and the plot took itself seriously and the magic etc - tho I was always a little disappointed in the cast being “guardians” rather than proper witches XD no spells or potions for meeeee

Certainly, no arc can compete with the Meridian Arc, the first plot, but I stuck with and loved the series for a good few years; I didn’t stop collecting witch until… that Evil Book Arc, when they killed off Cedric. Did not approve. I also didn’t like how the art changed during the Orube Arc, and how the cast’s personalities got more and more stereotypical - f.ex. Cornelia suddenly being more of a diva and wanting to become an actress. No. They were best when they bucked those trends. And then the constant tossing out of long-established love interests, like Eric, and omigod what they did to Nigel was just plain unforgivable.

I still love the series, because it WAS, for better and for worse, my first introduction to the Magical Girl genre. And every now and then, twenty years later, I still become nostalgic about it; Will being such an emotionally vulnerable crybaby spoke to me as a child, who couldn’t control her tears either. And their funky wardrobe and shenanigans and the world of Metamoor is still dear to me. Even if I pretend everything after Cedric got redeemed never happened XD

Also they are a very diverse, fun set of characters to draw! You can have your pick of everything~

Phobos x Samara fanchild: Elizabeth Escanor

Since WITCH is coming back I'm revisiting my Phobos x OC ship and have the brilliant idea to make a fankid. While I haven't made a lot of fankids Elizabeth is the one that I think about the most. I guess the idea of a Guardian being related to a series' villain is much too delicious to pass up on. Elizabeth is named after my late maternal grandma.

In Metamoor it's Princess Deimos Escanor. Most times she goes by Elizabeth Escanor.

Being a female royal she is the Crown Princess of Meridian but the thing is, she doesn't want to become queen!

Has a brother named Aremars (ares+mars) who is more knowledgeable and interested in politics than she is; he eventually becomes Crown Prince after she convinces her aunt to change the rules of succession in turn avoiding past mistakes

I think there'd be a story where she arrives to earth from the future and meets the previous Guardians + her dad, who is painfully undergoing a redemption arc.

As the Guardian of Darkness she has her mom's abilities plus the added gift of starlight and aurora manipulation.

Fun loving, hardheaded, superstitious, has Phobos' cunning and Samara's assertiveness

If Deimos took over, Meridian would've turned into a nocturnal kingdom; think futuristic cottagecore complete with glowing mushroom architecture and giant glowbugs for streetlights. But it's definitely not evil like her father's reign

Actual part of the reason why she doesn't want the throne is not just personal disinterest but also to avoid controversy of children of a former tyrant inheriting the throne

Enjoys rain, coffee, and watching trashy tv.

Has the thankless task of babysitting Orube and Cedric's hellspawn kids

In later life she becomes a member of the council and precedes over dark/shadow magic

Hates being compared to her dad, and her element being misunderstood as evil

I didn't axpected it t oarrive today i'm so happy and its cover is so shiny i love it i love it i love it i love it.

Ok, but let's talk about the story/characters. I'm going to write this while I read it so the english will be bad and i'll be bad and everyting will be bad lol and there will be SPOILERS and i don't know how to speak and i'm autisitc and dumb and old so yeah let's start

Ok, first of all I LOVE the art style. It's cute and the colors are wonderful.

Will is basically the same.

I LOVE her relationship with her mom. It's a pity for her nationality, but I love their relationships here. If the og had her as a "mom friend", here she has more "big sister vibes".

Hay Lin and her grandma gives me the same vibes of the og comic: I love them. I love them. I love them. I love them so much. I'm just sad that Yan Lin is not in the comic for long and that she's in China. I really hope to see her soon (expecially if they're going to kill her as in the og...)

Cornelia and Irma are cute and funny I like them. Nothing to say about them, they're very much like the original... even if it makes me laugh the fact they gave Irma's "I have a crush for everybody" side to Elyon. Idk, I think that's neat.

I hate Taranee. I really really hope to start to like her later, but for now I keep thinking about how much I miss my bookworm shy math lover, bug hater girl 😭😭 Even because she's there being just ":/...... >:/" all the time... resting bitch face syndrome....

Ok, but for now, they're not so bad. I didn't really spoke about Elyon, but for now I like them... They can make a lot of things with this girls and I can't wait.

Ok, now... Kandrakar. I kinda hated the aesthetic with screens they have.. but I was thinking about how much I hate them and... well... I kinda like them now? I mean, there's Luba with 2 faces. I love her, I can't wait to see her die for the guardians. I can't wait to see how Orube will be, since she's her teacher. Also, Seeing them so "no human" made me think about the scene where Himerish in og, becomes again what he was before becoming an oracle, and Idk, I thought about that wscene with these oracles and it would be very cool... Like, Himerish that becomes a somehow humanish creature (or whatever creatures they'll design for basiliade) and then he's there like "I have no idea what my name was" and it all ends bad. Himerish I love you, I miss you my bald dumb guy... ALSO, the fact that Yan Lin will join them... I mean, if they'll chose to do that. I think it would be sooo cool.... I really hope to keep liking them, I don't want to hate my boy Himerish and my girl Luba, please, don't make me hate them 😭😭

The fact that here they didn't retcon the fact that Irma's mom is not her biological mom and so, they can work that storyline from the beginning in a better way is the cutest thing ever. I love them and I love the storyline and I know I'm going to love all of this family (even if Chris is different, but who cares about Chris). (I'm sorry, I love this storyline from the og comic, but I'll always hate how they created if for /them/, even if the are literally identical to each others. But that's just a my pet peeve, sorry).

Irma here is more a dumbdumb than a clown, but it's ok, I love her. og Irma would love her dumbness.

Happy they took more inspiration from the og than the cartoon in this. I'm sorry cartoon lovers, but it always bugged me how in the comics she was genuinally evil (and manipulated into being evil) while in the cartoon she was just this perfect angel. I need my evil elyon moments.

It's a cute series with... way less material than the original, but since it's just a volume, it's not a surprise. Hoping for a sequel. I'm sad tha there's no sight of my favorite characters. Still hoping to see Himerish one day (considering the counsil is evil here, it will be fun). Somehow I think that the fact they're evil is a good starter for the second series, since there will be the old guardians who were treated like shit (probably that journey to China for Hay Lin... is a foreshadowing). I can't wait to stop hating Luba and crying while I see her dying.

I thought I would have hated Cornelia and Taranee, but I ended up loving them. Irma is way more dumbdumb. Og Irma would have a lot of fun on mocking her and I live for this imagery in my head. Will is... Will. Still angsty sad teen in both versions. Hay Lin here is more scienc-y, and less creative which is a pity for me, but it's ok, she's still the cutest girl in town.

I really hope we'll see Phobos or Cedric in the future... I need to destroy Phobos' rebooted cervix.

I'm in Sweden, backnin the day, I bought everything that was witch ESPECIALLY the magazines, all specials and extra magazines. I have never seen or heard about this one. And it is odd because generally, all of Scandinavia did get the same things. It looks like, instead of a Lookbook mag, we got them inside the magazines themselfves, spread out on several issues. Same as they did with some of the extra stories (Like Orubes, sidestory)

SPECIAL ISSUE: W.I.T.C.H. LOOKBOOK SCANS (NORWEGIAN)

Hej!

I've had this special edition of W.I.T.C.H. lying around for years and I've been meaning to scan it for archival purposes, especially since there doesn't seem to be any scans of it anywhere online.

This issue focuses on fashion designs created for each of the five girls by professional designers, trying to create a unique aesthetic for the five girls. The key word being trying, since only a handful of the designs actually ended up being used in the comic and sometimes not for the girl it initially was designed for.

Unfortunately I don't speak much Norwegian, so I'm afraid I can't provide a full translation of the comic. I am also aware some of the outfits featured are a bit... questionable to put it mildly (especially Hay Lin's).

I've decided to upload it for free to the Internet Archive because it's no longer in print. Please feel free to download it, translate it, edit and repost it, but PLEASE make sure to link back to where you downloaded it from!
