Wanted angst plots with Eight

//And of course I enjoy torturing my muses, so today is angst.

Loss.  I would like to see them dealing with loss.  Be that losing a companion, or the sense of loss they feel in regard to Gallifrey.

Trauma.  Eight has dealt with some pretty traumatic circumstances.  (Zagreus, anyone?)  So I would like to do a thread dealing with the consequences of those experiences.

Mental illness.  Eight has issues with depression, in large part because of the things they’ve been through.  They don’t tend to talk about it, though, so I’d like a thread where they do.

Amnesia.  Probably the most cited fact about Eight is that they suffer from amnesia.  I’d like to see them dealing with that and with the loss of sense of self that comes with it.

Even if you're not familiar with norse myths I'd say that the Gaiman book is still really enjoyable 😊It's not too heavy and a lot of the stories he chooses are the more well known ones. It's only about 300 pages, so it's not too long either. I think you can get a preview of a few pages through google, so that might be a good way to see if it's something you'd like or not. - CC 🦊

A lot of the Doctor Who books feel like they could be their own little episode, which is nice. It's been a few years since I read them but I remember enjoying The Stone Rose, The Stealers of Dreams, Invaders from Mars and The Glamour Chase. There's also a huge range of audiobooks where the actors have returned to their old roles. Recently this year it was announced that Christopher Eccleston was coming back to work on some Ninth Doctor audiobooks 😱- CC 🦊

Also, if you're interested in any of the older Doctors, I'd highly suggest looking into Eighth Doctor audiobooks! The actor sadly only got one really odd 90's movie and a short for the 50th to act the role on film, so the audiobooks really let the character shine and give him a chance. And some sci-fi I can recommend are Aurora Rising, There Will Come Soft Rains, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. There's also Jurassic Park but is it sci-fi? Is it horror? Either way there's dinosaurs! - CC 🦊

Omg no but I totally get how you feel with horror! I'm really fussy with the genre myself since I often get bored or annoyed with it if it's not done right 🤣I usually read before bed so that's probably not a good decision on my part either! And omg, Brooklyn 99 and Queer Eye are amazing! I love Jonathan Van Ness, he's always so happy and positive all the time. I looked at the preview for Norse Mythology and it actually sounds so interesting!! But I fear that I will imagine the characters as they are in the Marvel Universe 😅 Aaahhh it’s always nice to get some more Ninth Doctor!! I should probably check out the audiobooks if the actors are reprising their roles for them but I gotta check where I can download English audiobooks. And can you believe I never watched the original Jurrassic Park movies? 😬 I should probably get around to that... 

Yeah, some horror books sound really intriguing but then I look at my massive TBR/wishlist and think to myself... well I rather spend my money on this other book that I’ve wanted for 3 months now so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Honestly, this year wasn’t as good of a reading year as I’d hoped it would be. But some books I enjoyed were The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James (YA Sci-Fi), The Sinclair’s Mysteries Series (Middlegrade Historical Mystery), Eight Detectives (Adult Mystery) and Call Down The Hawk (YA Urban Fantasy). What about your reading year?

YES! omg let’s do it!! But let’s wait until you can reveal yourself so we can scream at each other in DMs 😅 JVN is a national treasure, I love him!! But tbh I love all of them! 💕 I just googled New Legend of Monkey bc I’ve never heard of it and the fact it’s a Aussie/NZ production based on a Japanese show which in turn is based on a Chinese novel.. love it! And it even is on german netflix!

Hahaha yeah I guess my love for Yibo is not a secret 😂  But I do love the other cast members as well!! (Fun fact: before I started watching cql I thought wwx was more attractive but I quickly learned my lesson and fell HARD for lwj and in turn yibo askdjgffdk) Yibo is just.... aaaaaahhhhhhhh I just love him so much, your honor!! He’s a classic case of do I want to marry you or be you?? Like his gender presentation??? HELLOOOO??? I want that!! And when he wears earrings and has slightly longer hair (and ideally wears makeup but that’s optional he looks fantastic without it as well) I! WANT! TO! DIEEEEEE!!! Then there’s the fact he’s a lil gremlin boy and he basically hates us askdjgksdfghkdf like I feel like he’s so done with the entertainment industry/the fanservice that’s expected of him and honestly, that’s valid and relatable. I also don’t want to do the things I’m supposed to do for work even though I chose this job 😂 Like that live where he was supposed to talk to his fans for an hour and he was just like uuugghhh how do ppl talk for an hour, this is exhausting askdjghkdf SAME!! And I feel like this makes him seem more grounded (though obv I don’t know him so who knows what he’s really like) He isn’t forcing a smile for the cameras because he is supposed to. If he doesn’t want to smile he won’t and I gotta respect that! Then there’s the fact that he’s so multitalented! Like is there anything he CAN’T do????? Act, dance, sing, motorcycle, skate, etc. the list goes on! And he’s such an amazing dancer, and I dance hiphop myself so I’m very !!!!!! about it all. I REALLY want to get dance lessons from him like he’d probably scream at me to do better and I’d thank him for it aksdhgdkfjg omg I gushed way too much about yibo ok I’m gonna go now. Doctor Who

Favorite character: ...I mean, it has to be the Doctor. He’s the embodiment of Chaotic Good, and he’s so entertaining and absurd and so deeply good at the same time. Even if there are regenerations I like less than others, I always love the Doctor.

Least Favorite character: ...Rose Freaking Tyler. I don’t talk about her much, because I don’t want to inadvertently start something with anyone who feels differently, but this is not a Rose-friendly space.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Canon-ish: Ben/Polly, Amy/Rory, Martha/Mickey. Non-canon: Harry/Victoria, Jenny/the son of Kate Stewart (he only barely exists in EU, but the idea of the Doctor’s daughter marrying the Brigadier’s grandson is just really cute to me)

Character I find most attractive: ...Hm. The Eighth Doctor, maybe?

Character I would marry: Harry Sullivan. He’s a sweet, gentlemanly dork of a Naval surgeon with traditional values--what’s not to love?

Character I would be best friends with: The Doctor. Not so much because he’s the character most like me, but because he’s very good at Being Friends With People.

a random thought: One thing I really love about the New Series is the increasingly consistent trend--especially in Moffat’s era, I think?--of explicitly treating the TARDIS as another character. It’s been there implicitly for a long time, but they made it much more canon and I appreciate that.

An unpopular opinion: Missy is not the Master, and I’ll never believe she is. This isn’t even about her gender, but about her whole personality.

My Canon OTP: Ian/Barbara, from the First Doctor’s era. This isn’t exactly controversial--I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything, in fandom or EU, where they weren’t happily together--but I love them.

My Non-canon OTP: Master/Clara... Which is entirely the fault of my sister’s fics. I wasn’t expecting to ship them!!

Most Badass Character: ...There’s so many to choose from. Aside from the Doctor, maybe Sarah Jane? Aside from being one of the greatest companions, she got her own spinoff show in which it was established that she’s been regularly saving the world on her own, she adopted two children and began mentoring three more in her fifties, and she was generally amazing for five seasons.

Most Epic Villain: ...The Master gets highest points for Presentation (as Megamind would say), and the Daleks are the most consistently menacing... But I think Rassilon scares me the most. He’s the founder of Time Lord society, and he’s evil. 

Pairing I am not a fan of: The Doctor/anyone other than River, honestly. (Well, or his Gallifreyan wife from pre-canon days--I assume they were a good match, from what canon evidence we have)

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): ...A lot. Today, though, I’m going to say Sarah again. As said above, she’s a hero in her own right, and there’s no force in the universe that could stop her from having adventures. Reducing her to “female character pining after the Doctor and unable to get over losing him,” as they did in “School Reunion”, was a massive injustice to her character. (ESPECIALLY since their Classic relationship was not romantic. I mean, they’ve been shipped, of course, but their was nothing romantic in the writing or--IMHO--even the acting.)

Favourite Friendship: I think I’ve said this before, but the Doctor and the Brigadier. I love constant their friendship is, how much they’ve done for each other and respect each other, and how easily they fit back together every time they reunite.

Character I most identify with: ...I honestly don’t know. I love almost all of them, but I don’t think any of them click in quite that way, you know?

Character I wish I could be: Romana, maybe? She’s a Time Lady who traveled with the Doctor--that’s a pretty good deal!

Wodehouse Ship: I’m going to go with Mike/Eve here, for fun

When I started shipping them: As soon as the name “Jackson” appeared in Leave it to Psmith, I think. I trust and support Mike’s judgement. :P

My thoughts: I wish we’d, you know, seen them together. But I like that Mike has a wife he can take care of! I think that suits them both. (I also have a headcanon that Psmith went off--to the Drones, maybe?--and dug up dirt on Rollo, and that these discoveries were what pushed Mike to propose. Because he’s an honorable boy, and I think getting him to propose to an engaged woman would take some intervention from Psmith... Also I don’t like what we’ve heard of Rollo.)

What makes me happy about them: That they exist. That they got their farm, and that their best friends married each other, so the two couples can look after each other when they need to! 

What makes me sad about them: No content. :(

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: ...I’ve never read any fic of them that wasn’t written by myself or one of this Tumblr microfandom, so... Nothing, really!

Things I look for in fanfic: Anything of them interacting with Psmith/Eve is especially fun. (Someday I’d like to try the scene where they find out Psmith and Eve are engaged. Because A) if they’re told soon enough, it would be the same meeting where they share the news that they got the farm, which sounds delightfully chaotic B) last they knew, Psmith and Eve hadn’t even met, and C) the second Mike heard they’d met at Blandings, he’d know Psmith was behind getting them the money. Somehow.) 

My wishlist:

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: ...I’m sure there are other Wodehouse Protagonists who would suit them, but none come to mind. They’re good with each other.

My happily ever after for them: Hmm... For them to have lots of kids, and the Psmiths as neighbors, and play cricket with their combined families every summer. Margery can visit and be the fun aunt, and since they’re doing well financially maybe the Jackson parents will come live with them at some point? (I’d also like them to have a chance to help Psimth and Eve out of some significant trouble, since it’s usually the other way around... I don’t know what, though.)

Psych character: ...I’ll pick Henry, since I’ve been talking about him a lot lately

How I feel about this character: Good! He’s a good, though flawed, dad, and a good cop. (One of the few Lawful Goods in this cast, in my opinion.) He’s solid, and principled, and one of the few people who can really, truly keep up with/keep a hold of Shawn.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: His wife, I suppose? I don’t remember being a big fan of her, but he clearly still loves her, and I’m a sucker for “divorced couple reconciles” anyway... So yeah, Maddie.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Shawn, of course. Henry just... he built his whole life around raising his son, and it shows with him and with Shawn. They’ve both affected each other so much, and I love that the show just shows them being more openly important to each other as it goes on.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I’m not sure what’s “unpopular” here... But I think his training of Shawn was less about wanting him to be a cop, and more about giving Shawn A) something halfway constructive to do with his racing brain, and B) the tools to survive whatever trouble he'd get into in the future. Because, even then, Henry knew Shawn was never going to stay out of trouble.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish Shawn had told him he loved him out loud, to his face, which I don’t think quite happened. I’m pretty content with Henry’s content overall, though, I think.

Favorite friendship for this character: I’m going to cheat slightly and say Gus. It’s not exactly a friendship, but I love the implicit history there, and the way that Gus is practically his second kid and they both relate to each other as such. (I am also highly indignant that the “Henry & Gus” tag apparently doesn’t even exist on AO3... Distressing.)

My crossover ship: ...I got nothin. However, I have decided that in a Star Trek fusion AU (sort of a crossover!) Shawn’s mom would be a Vulcan. That’s the closest I’ve got.

Eighth Doctor. Twelfth Doctor and his hair, Thirteen. (I’m very Doctor focused, weird since I didn’t used to be!).

a random thought:

There should be a multi-Doctor story with all Five current modern Doctors! 

An unpopular opinion:

I like series 11. Sure, it can be improved, but I liked it, especially for what it was trying to achieve, get the general audience’s interest. 

Also, Thirteen is not less of an anti-establishment character. Kerblam is not representative of her politics. It was an okay episode with a muddled ending, that because of fandom, I now truly hate Kerblam. Thanks, fandom. 

Tim Shaw might be boring but the Stenza race as a whole sounds really terrifying and the Doctor should take down the Stenza. 

The Thijarians are amazing addition to the Whoverse, and they were important to the story of Demons of the Punjab. 

I like Tsuranga Conundrum. And there should be a P’Ting doll.

Most Badass Character:

The Time Lords. The Doctor, I’m joking! (Am I though?). 

Pairing I am not a fan of:

Eleven/Tasha Lem. (Poor Orla Brady. Moffat did her a disservice). 

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):

Honestly? River. She started out so well but the more Moffat revealed about her origin the more I was put off– especially when ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’ happened. To me, she was lessened by this revelation. 

I know other people are okay with it, but it honestly put me off not only the character but the show too, it was the beginning of the end of watching Doctor Who, for a while at least. 

Husbands of River Song did a lot to buy back my goodwill. 

Favourite Friendship:

Twelve’s friendship with Bill. 

Character I most identify with:

It used to be Rose… but right now, emotionally? Twelve and Thirteen. 

Character I wish I could be:

BARBARA ‘I WILL RAM DALEKS WITH MY BIG TRUCK’ WRIGHT. Yes, I am in that episode! 

002 | Ziva and Tony

When I started shipping them:

I think it might be in season 4, but nothing seriously. 

My thoughts:

Although it annoyed me that they drew it out for so long, in the long run I think it helped both. They’re both competitive people and in the earlier years they weren’t ready to be in a relationship. 

They both had growing to do. Especially Tony. 

What makes me happy about them:

That they both grew together even when they’re not together-together. 

What makes me sad about them:

So many misunderstandings and time lost, that Ziva thinks she needs to go alone without her family (Talie and Tony, and the NCIS fam) to keep them safe. 

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:

The way they keep narrowing focus to just Ziva and Tony, when the thing I love about them is how they are in a family group. 

Things I look for in fanfic:

Bob/Gen. Casefile/Gen with some elements of a romance. 

My wishlist:

Ziva appearing beyond clues would be one, and also that when she does appear in an episode, she doesn’t die in the end but actually meets up with Tony and Tali. After that, if we don’t see her again, I’d be happy because I know she would be alive and happy! 

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

TBH, I’m also okay if she doesn’t end up with Tony but having Tali is a complication. 

My happily ever after for them:

Ziva resurfacing, reconnecting with her daughter and with Gibbs, and finally meeting Bishop. Ziva and Jack Sloane bonding over what they’ve been through and then flying to Paris to live out a happy and stable life she’s always longed for, with occasional visits/consults with NCIS.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

I don’t think I have one, except that she is AWESOME. 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

That writers would stop screwing up her character and her relationship with Clark, dammit. (looking at you recent run of Superman comics). 

Favorite friendship for this character:

Selina Kyle and Diana Prince

Random wishlist things...

Layla interacting with more gods, demigods, and other supernatural beings in general.

Actually exploring her trickster side. I’ve held her back a lot because of issues in the past, so this is very much a thing where you have to be fully aware that things are going to get dark, and potentially deadly if certain conditions are met. Highly selective about this one, because of that.

Osirian Court AU (DWEU) - most of this would take place on Gallifrey before both the War in Heaven and the Last Great Time War, so timeline wise would essentially be prior to the Eighth Doctor, though any regenerations of Time Lords (including the Doctor) who would want to explore this are welcome to.

Good Omens verse - needs reworking for the blurb, but Layla would inevitably side with Crowley, not wanting the world to end at all. Also think of the potential of adding an additional, older reality warper to the mix.

Mass Effect AU - a bit more complex now than when it originally started (to the point of it gaining its own tab in the about page), definitely something I want an opportunity to explore, especially as people start figuring out something’s not quite right about the supposed ‘human’ merc.

Dragon Age & Fallout AUs - nothing specific yet, just... yes. Want.

so, i had this idea while driving yesterday and listening to some of the Eighth Doctor Adventures. . . so this idea is almost blatantly stolen from Charley’s arc ( who has managed to become one of my all-time favorite companions ) but i still thought it would be fun. c: so, i’m thinking timeline-wise this is post journey’s end for both the Doctor and Rose -- and for Rose specifically it’s been a handful of years ( maybe even close to ten or so ) that she’s lived her ‘ happily-ever-after ‘ with the metacrisis Doctor. all this time, she’s continued to work for the parallel Torchwood, and is currently a high ranking operative, a commander of her own team. as all things end up, she finds herself at the center of some catastrophic mission -- perhaps in the parallel universe or in her original, and she’s rescued from almost certain death by the her old friend, the Doctor. ( yeah, i know, this bit’s vague. forgive me ) but. . . there’s something strange about her presence on board the TARDIS, and the Doctor soon figures out that Rose was meant to die in whatever event he rescued her from -- and her death is a fixed point. it was meant to happen, it’s integral to the timeline that Rose dies. . . and so he can’t return her home, no matter how many times she asks, and he has to decide if he should tell her that she’s meant to be dead. or if he should set time straight by returning her to that moment and allowing her to die like she’s meant to. if anyone might be interested in exploring this idea let a girl know c:

My hopes for Doctor Who in 2017

With the first month of January half over, this is as good a time as any to put up my (latest) wishlist for the Doctor Who franchise as 2017 progresses. Of course this year will see Series 10 arrive, and who knows what other surprises lay in store (the Class spinoff announcement came out of nowhere, for example so maybe we’ll get another out-of-the-blue announcement).

So here’s my Top 10 list ... after the break:

1. That Series 10 reflects the fact that Steven Moffat and his writing team have taken a break and come back refreshed. The Husbands of River Song was a clear example of writer fatigue (not helped by Moffat saying he actually thought it was going to be his final episode at one point). Doctor Mysterio was a promising sign, especially considering it was filmed midway through production of S10.

2. Don’t make the series all about River Song. I got some disturbing feeling that Nardole’s mystery is going to be tied into River Song. River is dead and as others have pointed out it’s disrespectful to not only fans of Clara but also fans of the Eleven-River relationship (of which I am one) to keep undermining the character....

3. ... Not unless there is at least one solid reference to Clara in S10 to give us balance. It’s been reported that Missy may appear in Series 10. We may or may not get a Jenna Coleman cameo - depending on what happens with #4 - but all we need is for a character like Missy to address Clara and give us a follow-up to what we saw in the first episode of Class. Prove to us that while the Doctor may have “forgotten” her, the show hasn’t. (And, sad for the fans, but Class appears destined to be a short-lived branch so I’d hate for the only direct reference to the Doctor’s memories and feelings for Clara post-Hell Bent to have been wasted on an episode that was viewed by roughly the equivalent population of Saskatchewan.)

4. Peter Capaldi to stay on for Series 11. There are a few reasons for this. The first one is obvious - it’s Peter Capaldi, for heaven’s sake. ‘Nuff said, to quote Stan Lee. Second reason is a lot of people are leery about Chris Chibnall taking over from Moffat (if there’s one TV producer who has more online haters than Moffat, it’s him) so having Capaldi (and Pearl Mackie and even Matt Lucas) stay on would make the transition smoother (for the record I have open mind on Chibnall; I liked his DW episodes though I was less keen on his Torchwoods, is all). Third reason is a pragmatic one for us Whouffaldi fans: I do not believe that they will be able to get Jenna Coleman to appear in any S10-related production, or even the 2017 Christmas special, if they don’t get something done with her before Victoria S2 filming begins in February. But we’re only really under the gun if Capaldi leaves with Moffat at the end of the year. If he stays on we can at least hope that Chibnall develops a storyline that brings her back, or at least agrees to have her appear in Capaldi’s regeneration story. But there’ll be more time to play with, anyway. I do not want to see this play out with the Thirteenth Doctor, otherwise it’ll just be a repeat of the mess that we just went through with River Song improperly being tied in with the Twelfth Doctor, retconning away her previously established farewell to Eleven.

5. That Bill is a better character than she’s portrayed in the trailer. Sorry not sorry - I did not like what I saw in the trailer. But let’s see how she fares in a full episode, not a bunch of random buzzwords and sound bites.

6. That the Twelve-Bill-Nardole team gives us a return to the Four-Sarah Jane-Harry Sullivan dynamic. It has that potential.

7. That we get a Series 9 soundtrack. And a proper CD release too, not just some B.S. download/streaming thing like they just did with Victoria’s soundtrack.

8. That Big Finish starts doing Paternoster Gang stories. All three actors - Neve McIntosh, Catrin Stewart and Dan Starkey - have done Big Finish audios over the past year. Starkey has already played Strax in one (and he’s even writing scripts for them now). There is no excuse for us not to get the Paternoster Gang spin-off we never got on TV.  They’ve already given us the Kate and Osgood UNIT spin-off we should have had, and the River Song spin-off a lot of people wanted, and even a bunch of stories now with the War Doctor and the Time War-era Eighth Doctor.

9. That the powers that be allow the expanded franchise to begin telling officially licensed stories featuring Clara and Ashildr, post-Hell Bent. I can understand them wanting to wait to see what Moffat does in S10. But once it becomes clear what he has planned, I’d like to see Titan Comics or BBC Books or somebody pick up the ball and run with it. (Big Finish would be amazing but I know they don’t have the rights yet to anything specific to the Capaldi era, and #10 takes precedence anyway.)

10. In the wake of Big Finish reuniting David Tennant and Catherine Tate for a series of audio dramas - something that many thought would be impossible - for Big Finish to pull another rabbit out of its hat and help resolve Matt Smith’s one regret about leaving Doctor Who - that he didn’t get to do more stories with Jenna Coleman. Last year, Jenna took time out from Victoria to record a relatively minor voiceover for Thunderbirds Are Go, and later recorded a part for a digital version of A Christmas Carol. And she’s still officially available to record voices for commercials and the like through one of her agencies. Matt Smith is on record as saying he’d love to do Big Finish if invited. Come on, Mr. Briggs, it can work - please make an Eleven and Clara reunion happen!

Come Too Far To Quit Altered History AU - New Who Reimagined

The Last Great Time War is over, but at what cost?

The Doctor, struggling to come to terms with what he has done, believes himself to now be the last of the Time Lords, having had to sacrifice Gallifrey and his entire civilisation with it to put an end to the war and the Dalek Empire.

Filled with regret, the Doctor decides he doesn't need companions or friends, and sets off into the universe to travel alone in the wake of the War, wanting to save as many lives as he can to make up for destroying Gallifrey as his 'punishment' for surviving.

During his lone travels, he sustains a head injury, resulting in a partial return of his amnesia. With only some clues to suggest the war is over, but not precisely how or why, the Doctor embraces this second chance, stubbornly trying to ignore the nagging feeling deep within his hearts that something very, very wrong happened.

Deciding a distraction is in order, the Doctor returns to Earth in search of new adventures and challenges, perhaps even unwittingly finding a companion or friend along the way...

Wanted Whoniverse plots with Eight

//Today’s meme theme would normally be Munday, but since that doesn’t apply to the muse, instead I’m doing assorted Whoniverse related plots I’d like to do.

The Master.  I would love threads with Eight and the Master.  Any regeneration, really.

Zagreus. I would really love to do something either with Eight as Zagreus or with Eight dealing with Zagreus. Whether that be with Zagreus as an entity in Eight’s head, Zagreus as a sort of NPC alongside Eight, or with Zagreus as a separate muse played by the other mun. Just Zagreus plots, because tbh I am still trying to wrap my head around that storyline and its after-effects.

Year of the Intelligent Tigers. So basically my initial assessment of that book, “the tigers have invaded the city and are demanding violin lessons,” was pretty accurate for the overall tone. Also, no one is ever going to convince me that there wasn’t something going on between Eight and Karl. Their relationship had queerplatonic written all over it. So yes. Give me all of the YotIT plots please.
