the ask about marriage recently made me think of that thing i thought up when we were chatting about Separation: Machete reading up about how there were some same sex marriages in pagan Rome ages before and disregarding the church for once to have a little ceremony with Vasco out in the countryside. and i thought your tumblr readers would like to think on that

Oh yeah, I remember that! I actually think about it every now and then, but I've yet to do any meaningful research on the idea.

Machete is kind of an antiquity fanboy and it wouldn't be far fetched to say that his fascination and admiration for ancient Greece and Rome might've made it a tiny bit easier for him to accept his orientation. And even if he'd feel uneasy about acting behind his church's back and the ceremony would be purely symbolic, the need to have their union recognized and sealed in some type of way would be immense.

i still can’t believe they used the instrumental to cigarette daydreams for this mission like that was honest to god attempted murder by insomniac. the song, the nostalgia for the kids they were before emily and ben died and harry got sick, the warm autumn colors, the reunion patching together a pivotal part of peter’s life at a time he literally needs it most after getting fired from brooklyn visions. and in the scene before this, peter’s remembering may’s lesson about maintaining balance in his life then boom the return of one of the people who keep him rooted in life outside the mask when it’s so easy to breeze by it. first act of sm2 i love you.

Within the next 6 months, Trump will die of natural causes (a stroke probably). Vance will become president and going by his policies, it'll turn out he's an undercover leftist who has been planning to get where he is for decades. And he won't be half-bad at his job either. Not to be devil’s advocate bc I’m not happy about the lack of reactivity either (especially the well of sorrows, really? No mention of whether the warden and Hawke are dead or alive, are you serious??), but Dragon Age not porting choices well isn’t new. Most of the choices you make in Origins have superficial impacts on 2 and Inq, and the choices of 2 have mostly superficial impacts on Inq. It affected cameos and some smaller quests and some codexes and not much else.

They straight up ignored your choice if you killed Leliana. They straight up ignored a ton of Origins epilogues. Hawke becoming viscount didn’t matter; they still show up in Inq to fulfill the same narrative role. Lots of choices that feel important as you make them but end up at the same narrative payoff in the sequel.

Even with the OGB stuff, fans have been waiting and waiting on the true impact of that choice and it just hasn’t materialized after two sequels.

I say this as a big Dragon Age fan but Dragon Age is not the “Choices Matter!” Series everyone makes it out to be. It’s just not. Your choices matter at the end of the game you made them in, and then the series moves on and tosses you a little nod sometimes. It sucks and I’m disappointed but this isn’t abnormal.
