something about how Lando repeatedly has said how he and Oscar are the strongest teammate pairing and work together better than any other
and how Oscar always puts the burden of responsibility for a result on himself alone and sees Lando and the team as the people he's proving himself to
and how Lando celebrates with the team by being passed around to each of them like a long wished-for newborn baby and Oscar celebrates by ducking his head and immersing himself into the team's masses and looking for what Lando's doing
Lando embodies the team's - and Oscar's - emotions; Oscar absorbs the team's and Lando's emotions
how Lando says he deals with tough times by reminding himself of the good times and looking forward to them
and Oscar says he views success in terms of having it "on the books" and deals with tough times by an onward and upward attitude
how Lando has gone through so much to stay with McLaren and Oscar went through so much just to get to McLaren
and how neither of them even remotely skirt the issue and state that McLaren is where they are happy and where they plan to remain and "for many years to come" and "look forward to many more" and Lando saying "all these years" before realizing he and Oscar were only on their second season together.
how they weren't in any rush to turn their relationship into A Thing or a meme ship name and didn't force the friendship to happen until it felt comfortable because they had a job to do for the team and fundamentally had to avoid the Them of it all from interfering in that in any way - that they put the team first and Them second and look how that's resulted in them being what they'll tell you is the best partnership on the grid.
Lando being regularly misunderstood and vilified because his reaction to severe stress is emotional hyper-vulnerability, Oscar being misunderstood and vilified because his reaction to severe stress is to shut down and withdraw emotionally.
Lando is beloved but also infantilized. Oscar is respected but also dehumanized. Lando is loved and hated for his emotions and compensates by portraying himself as stupid or brainless so please don't think he's an asshole based on that one poorly worded quote. Oscar is admired and distrusted for his emotional regulation and compensates by saying he's just boring and self-deprecation so please don't see him as an evil robot just because that response was by rote instead of from the heart.
Lando openly says how he feels about team orders and conflicting results; Oscar says that's just how racing goes sometimes because everyone's out to win. Lando feels the highs and the lows in equal extremes because he needs to feel things; Oscar often withholds his visceral extremes because he needs to feel them when he feels safe. (which is why we only see That Smile on him when it's Lily, Lando, his mum and dad, and now winning the championship with McLaren)
their relationship formed with the absolutely least expectations and has followed not a single beat of PR advice and they don't post on social media when they hang out socially and they got their privacy door separating their drivers rooms away from everyone and sharing a hallway only with each other and they have their own private debriefs and agreed about the sprint swap without telling the team. they react to huge expectation races by staying glued together even during driver parades and down time despite being around each other all the rest of the race weekends. when a race doesn't have as much gravitas is when they feel happy going to separate groups.
people think Oscar getting awkward on camera and sticking to scripts will hurt Lando's feelings but the result is Lando beaming at him fondly and giggling. people think Lando wanting to spend paddock time with his many close friends on the grid will hurt Oscar's feelings but half the time Oscar is happily watching Lando with them (maybe more than half the time) or bringing up said friendship for no reason all on his own. or making an effort to get to know those guys specifically himself.
like idk there's just something about the extremes of fans on Lando and Oscar's respective sides so fully Not Getting the guy they claim to stan so hard for and it being proven most clearly by how they always expect the exact opposite reaction from their guy to Lando/Oscar respectively. they expect either bloodshed or PR overtime and instead it's just blurry footage of Lando and Oscar laughing while waiting for a private jet or a story of them sulking at Alex for beating them at a board game or a post race video where they were already laughing with each other before realizing the camera was on and they were rolling. in the best possible way it feels like they just look at these people chewing concrete "on their behalf" and laugh in that creepy perfectly matched giggle they do sometimes.
#666 as their championship score is so fucking them I will never stop laughing#something so unserious and gen z and gender neutral and slightly unnerving#all these straight men making gay jokes and gay chicken#meanwhile lando confronts an interviewer assuming oscar would hit up only girls for sex and oscar smiling sweetly#they have absolutely NO handy memeable dynamic yet their dynamic is SO specific and unique#shut UP inch#inchidentallyanessay

Success story from Neville Goddard's book (The Law and the promise) (chapter: there is no fiction)
*this is not my work but a copy paste from Neville's book*
Spoiler alert!!! *this story is really amazing! its about a 19 year old dancing teacher who didn't believe in imagination but took up the challenge to owning a studio (Arthur Murray dance studio franchise) to making it much bigger and meeting Arthur Murray himself*
As my story begins at the age of nineteen I was a mildly successful dancing teacher and continued in this static state for almost five years. At the end of this time I met a young lady who talked me into attending your lectures. My thought, upon hearing you say ‘Imagining creates reality’, was that the entire idea was ridiculous. However, I decided to accept your challenge and disprove your thesis. I bought your book ‘Out of This World’ and read it many times. Still unconvinced, I set myself a rather ambitious goal. My present position was as an instructor with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio and my goal was to own a franchise and be boss of an Arthur Murray studio myself! “This seemed the most unlikely thing in the world as franchises were extremely difficult to secure, but on top of this fact, I was completely without the necessary funds to begin such an operation. Nevertheless. I assumed the feeling of my wish fulfilled as night after night, in my imagination, I went to sleep managing my own studio. Three weeks later a friend called me from Reno, Nevada. He had the Murray Studio there and said it was too much for him to cope with alone. He offered me a partnership and I was delighted; so delighted, in fact, that I hastened to Reno on borrowed money and promptly forgot all about you and your story of Imagination!
“My partner and I worked hard and were very successful, but after a year I was still not satisfied, I wanted more. I began thinking of ways and means to get another studio. All my efforts failed. One night as I retired, I was restless and decided to read. As I looked through my collection of books I noticed your slender volume, ‘Out of This World’. I thought of the ‘silly nonsense’ I had gone through one year ago before getting my own studio. GETTING MY OWN STUDIO! The words in my mind electrified me! I reread the book that night and later, in my imagination, I heard my superior praise the good job we had done in Reno and suggest we acquire a second studio as he had a second location ready for us if we desired to expand. I re-enacted this imaginal scene nightly without fail. Three weeks from the first night of my imaginal drama, it materialized — almost word for word. My partner accepted the new studio in Bakersfield and I had the Reno Studio alone. Now I was convinced of the truth of your teaching and never again will I forget. “Now I wanted to share this wonderful knowledge — of imaginal power with my staff. I tried to tell them of the marvels they could accomplish, but I was unable to reach many although one fantastic incident resulted from my efforts to tell this story. A young teacher told me he believed my story but said it would have probably happened anyway in time. He insisted the entire theory was nonsense but stated that if I could tell him something of an incredible nature that would actually happen and which he could witness — then he would believe. I accepted his challenge and conceived a truly fantastic test. “The Reno Studio is the most insignificant in the entire Murray system because of the small population count in the city itself. There are over three hundred Murray Studios in the country with much larger populations, therefore providing greater possibilities to draw from. So, my test was this. I told the teacher that within the next three months, at the time of a national dance convention, the little Reno Studio would be the foremost topic of conversation at that convention. He calmly stated this was quite impossible. “That night when I retired, I felt myself standing before a tremendous audience. I was speaking on ‘Creative Imagining’ and felt the nervousness of being before such a vast audience; but I also felt the wonderful sensation of audience acceptance. I heard the roar of applause and as I left the stage, I saw Mr. Murray, himself come forward and shake my hand. I re-enacted this entire drama night after night. It began to take on the ‘tones of reality’ and I knew I had done it again! “My imaginal drama materialized down to the last detail. “My little Reno Studio was the ‘talk’ of the convention and I did appear on that stage just as I had done in my imagination. But even after this unbelievable but actual happening, the young teacher who threw me the challenge remained unconvinced. He said it had all happened too naturally! And he was sure it would have happened anyway!
“I did not mind his attitude because his challenge had given me another opportunity to prove, at least to myself, that Imagining does Create Reality. From that time on, I continued with my ambition to own the ‘largest Arthur Murray Dance Studio in the world’! Night after night, in my imagination, I heard myself accepting a studio franchise for a great city. Within three weeks Mr. Murray called me and offered a studio in a city of one and a half million people! It is now my goal to make my studio the greatest and biggest in the entire system. And, of course, ‘I know it will be done — through my Imagination’!” …E.O.L., Jr.

Partnership
It’s warm as you and Seven sit on the roof of his house, watching the stars in the dark night sky.
When he thinks you aren’t paying attention to him, he does his best to memorize your face; (s/c) skin, (e/c) eyes, a kind smile, kissable lips. God, how he wishes he could kiss you. Briefly, the thought crosses his mind. He’s always loved making impulse decisions. Really, he could just reach over and press his lips against yours right now… But he knows he shouldn’t- for so many reasons.
First off, you don’t truly know him. You know that he has a dark past and that he’s a secret agent- you’re his ‘partner’ who he’s frequently paired with for missions that require more than one person. Still, you don’t truly understand his personal life, even though you frequent his house and spend time with him whenever the two of you don’t have much to do. Maybe… If you saw the person outside of the jokes, the hacking skills, and the fun nights spent speeding down empty roads after successful missions, you wouldn’t like him. Who would? That person- the one who he is when he’s sad and alone- is insecure, angry, and bitter. Someone as wonderful as you deserves better.
At least, that’s what Seven convinces himself. While he’s certain that you would reject him, the scariest part is what would happen if you didn’t. If you, another agent, fell in love and got into a relationship with him. What if you died? What if he died? What if his father or the agency came after you? It’s not worth the risk. You’re a dangerous, talented agent, but you’re not nearly as dangerous as Seven.
So, he can’t pursue you, no matter how desperately he wants to do so. He trusts you more than anyone. That’s good enough.
“Tell me a secret,” You say, turning your head to look over at the man. Your (h/l) (h/c) hair fans out beneath your head, and your gorgeous (e/c) eyes sparkle underneath the starlight. “A really good one.”
“I have lots of secrets,” Seven responds, turning to face you as well. Curiosity laces your face, but much like him, you remain careful- guarded. One hand remains in your pocket at most times, most likely gripping the handle of a weapon. “But none of them are good. You know what they say- no one can know about the pasts of cats and hackers.”
“They also say that superheroes tend to have tragic backstories. So, Mr. Defender of Justice, why don’t you tell me yours?”
“You really wanna know about my life? You swear you won’t tell a soul?”
“Of course.”
“Well, I’m the illegitimate son of the Prime Minister. Seriously, the guy’s been trying to kill me for years, it’s kind of embarrassing how bad of a job he’s done,” Seven explains rather casually, even offering a shrug when you shoot him a confused glance. “I have a twin brother who means the world to me, but I went into this line of work to support him escaping from our abusive mom… And, as I’m sure you know, because of the work we do, I can never see him again.”
You hum and sit up, placing your hands on the concrete of the roof. You reach down to touch Seven, and while he doesn’t stop you, he flinches. You caress his face, then run a gentle hand through his hair. He stops to wonder, has he ever been touched like this? Maybe, when he was little, he and Saeran would cuddle on the floor of the basement to stay warm during the winter- comb each other’s dirty hair out with their fingers to keep it from getting matted- hug each other before Seven went anywhere, just in case it was the last time, because with their father hunting them down and their mother hating their existence, ‘tomorrow’ and ‘later’ were never guaranteed.
Seven pauses, his eyes fluttering shut. This relationship that the two of you have developed is far deeper than it should be for two coworkers who are strictly forbidden from developing attachments. Seven doesn’t even deserve to have what’s left of RFA, and now he has you, too? No- he shouldn’t let you get too close. At least, not any closer than you are now. Everyone around him always ends up miserable, hurt, or dead.
“I hope you get to see your brother again,” You whisper.
“I think,” Seven pauses, allowing his eyes to flutter shut. “It’s best that I don’t. I’m not who I was back then.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
Seven opens his eyes to glance at you. You’re hovering over him slightly, your hand now resting against the side of his neck. He’s forced to push away the memories of his mother’s two hands wrapped around it, to compose himself instead of freaking out on instinct.
“...I don’t know. Different isn’t always bad, but I’m a dangerous person. I want him to be safe.”
“Then… I hope he’s safe- always- if that’s what’ll make you happy.”
“Yeah. I hope so, too,” Seven smiles and pulls away from you to sit up. You rest your head on his shoulder. The smell of your shampoo- your perfume- your everything- floods his senses. He doesn’t stop you, even if he knows he should. “Hey, why don’t you tell me a secret?”
“I don’t really have any. I had a talent for this sort of thing… Did acrobatics for a while, learned how to hack, did some self defense classes and weapons training when I was young… A friend of a friend told me about the agency at a time I was desperate for money and I went ahead with it because I was bored with my life and wanted a fresh start; to be someone exciting, doing something meaningful,” You sigh. “Though, I was convinced by the friend of a friend that the agency was doing good work rather than… Well, rather than what we’re doing, but by the time I realized, I was already in far too deep. You know as well as I do what happens if we leave.”
Seven swallows. Neither of you have to say it- if you leave the agency, they keep sending the remaining agents after you until you’re dead and not a trace of you or your former life is left. Supposedly, they go after your loved ones, too. The agency shouldn’t know about Saeran, but now Seven has to worry about you and the RFA, too. If he or you ever wanted to leave, you’d have to do it together and in a way where no one could find you. You’d have to uproot your entire lives, go to a different country, and potentially even cut contact with all of your friends.
“Right.”
“It’s past midnight,” You stand up and stretch, looking at the stars one last time. “I should get going.”
Seven glances at his phone, only to see a barrage of notifications on the RFA messaging app. He thinks to convince you to stay the night- to sleep in his bed while he takes the couch so he can enjoy your presence for a little while longer- but the thought dies on his tongue at the sight of a new user on the notification bar.
MC has entered the chatroom.
…What the hell?
“Yeah,” Seven half-heartedly nods and rushes to open the messenger. The messages move so fast from the organization’s panic at an unauthorized user that he can barely read them. “See you later, (y/n). Text me when you get home safe.”
~
The next twenty four hours prove to be Seven’s personal hell. Whilst dealing with the chaos of MC joining the organization very suddenly, V’s peculiar reaction to the situation, Yoosung’s paranoia, and ‘Unknown’ trying to hack into both the messenger and Seven’s personal devices, Seven gets assigned a mission by the agency that he has to go on alone.
Normally, the two of you have a system; Seven hacks into the place’s data bases to get their information, you go in and do what needs to be done- whether that be stealing something, gathering extra information, or even killing and kidnapping someone. It works beautifully, so when he was told that this was a situation delicate enough that he would have to do it all alone, he panicked.
The panic… Was for a good reason.
After finishing the mission, Seven is barely able to drive himself home. He considers calling Vanderwood for help before remembering that the man would only scold him and drag him back home to catch up on the hacking work he’s been neglecting lately. So, he drives through the late night- early morning- hell, he isn’t sure what time it is. All he’s sure of is that the wind is blowing through his blood-matted hair as it glides over the top of his convertible’s sunroof, and that he is incredibly dizzy when he arrives home.
He parks the car in his parking garage and forgets to close the damn thing before stumbling out and heading towards the door. He grumbles the passcode to the security system in Arabic and trudges in, only to nearly jump out of his skin when he sees you sitting on the living room couch.
And, for a moment, the two of you just stare at each other; Seven leaning against the doorway, you sitting on the couch, his golden eyes pouring into your (e/c) ones. There’s normally such a casual nature between the two of you. Seven hasn’t ever seen you upset, even, but as you stand up and march towards him, he can see the concern and anger on your face at seeing his injuries.
“Jesus Christ, what happened to you?” You question.
“(y/n),” Seven walks past you and into the living room, unable to meet your eyes for any longer. The house was a mess when he left with chip packets, soda cans, and dirty laundry strewn about, but now, it’s spotless. You must’ve cleaned it for him… He can’t help but feel guilty. “What are you doing here?”
“You haven’t messaged me in hours. Zen said you missed seven chat rooms in a row today,” You frown and walk towards Seven. Seven rolls his eyes at the thought of Zen ratting him out- coincidentally, the actor has been your workout buddy since Seven introduced the two of you, so of course he would tell you that the normally active Seven hasn’t been online all day. He’d be lying if he said he weren’t jealous of Zen, and especially of Zen’s friendship with you, but he’s never mentioned it. He doesn’t deserve you, after all. “I just thought I’d check on you… What happened?”
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Seven shakes his head and shrugs your hand off of him. Though he acts disgusted by your touch, emptiness wells up in his heart the second you clasp your hands together and stare down at the ground. “You should just go back to yours.”
“What? But no one else is here to take care of you-”
“I don’t want to be taken care of.”
“Seven, you look like shit,” You point out.
Seven shrugs again. Sure, his face is bruised, his hair and torn clothes are drenched in blood, he’s covered in sweat, and he has scrapes all over his body, but he’s seen worse. Being caught by the two guards and beaten to a pulp before securing the files and escaping is the least of what Seven has been through in his lifetime. As much as he would love to have someone around to care for him after the rougher missions like this one, he doesn’t feel as if it’s fair to subject some poor unfortunate person to being his safe haven- especially if that person is you.
“I always look like shit.”
“I mean, maybe, but you’re usually not-” Seven coughs into his hand, effectively cutting you off as a streak of mixed spit and blood drips onto his palm. “Jesus, are you coughing up blood?”
“Nah, it’s not that bad. Just a busted lip… And I’m pretty sure a couple of my back teeth are loose,” Seven groans and sits down on the couch, wiping his palms on his dirty jeans. He’s definitely going to have to book a dental appointment soon to get his loose teeth fixed… Or maybe pulled out. Who knows. There’s a reason why you’re usually the one to do infiltration work while he’s behind the scenes on a computer; you’re much more graceful and subtle than he is, so you can get in and out of places without being caught- a skill that Seven has realized he doesn’t have. “No need to worry about it!”
Seven turns on his phone to see multiple missed chatrooms, just as you described. Even worse, the new member, MC, seems to be concerned that he’s been gone for so long. Seven quickly enters the chatroom and offers everyone a half-assed reassurance that he was just busy with work, along with some light-hearted jokes.
“What are you doing on your phone right now?” You demand, arms crossed over your chest. “Shouldn’t you be attending to- you know- this?”
Your arms are thrown up in a wild gesture to Seven’s battered body. For what must be the millionth time that night, he shrugs.
“I’ve gotta make a good impression on the new member, y’know? Don’t want her to worry too much about me- hell, none of the others really know what this work is like!”
“So you’re fine with me worrying about you, but not them?”
“(y/n),” Seven sighs, quickly excusing himself from the chatroom after finishing reassuring everyone that he was just ‘busy with work’ and that he’s ‘totally fine’. He blankly stares up at you. All along, he knew he shouldn’t have let you get so close, but… He’s a selfish man, and he can’t help himself. He does love you, but now, because he’s let you get this close to him, you’re concerned enough to waste your night on him. Maybe it was a mistake to be friends, rather than merely work partners like the two of you were instructed by the agency. “I never told you to worry about me.”
“We’re partners, Seven.”
“Yeah, we are. We’re partners at an agency that doesn’t care about us- an agency that explicitly told us not to get emotionally attached to each other to avoid situations like this! Why don’t you just leave like everyone else?”
“Why are you acting like this?” You question, clearly upset, but still somehow keeping your calm as you sit down next to Seven- perhaps too close. You don’t even seem bothered by the mix of his and other people’s blood, dirt, and dust that’s all over him. “Is it just because you’re hurt? You’ve never been this mean before- it’s like you’re a different person!”
“I’m not acting like a different person, it’s just that you never really knew me that well,” Seven admits. “I hid this side of myself for a reason, y’know…”
Tears well up in your eyes. A pang of guilt tears through Seven’s chest. Right as he considers reaching out for you, you turn your back to him.
“So you’re telling me that every night we’ve spent together has been a lie?”
“No, it’s not-”
“If you’re going to do this, Seven, commit to it. Has it all been a lie or not? Because you’re making it sound like you’re a totally different person and that the version of you I’ve spent all this time with isn’t really you,” You turn around to look at Seven once more with tears in your eyes. Everything Seven has done to keep you at a distance has been to make sure that you’re safe. Now, though, it’s clear that he’s hurt you deeply with what he’s said. “But I don’t think you’re telling the truth. You’re pushing me away because you have your own problems… I get it, I’m not perfect either, but it’s not fair for you to assume that… That I don’t…”
“What?”
You swallow deeply, a blush on your cheeks.
“That I don’t want to be closer to you,” You finally admit, your voice barely even a whisper. Seven feels his face turn red as well. “That I don’t love you. Why else would I want to take care of you when you’re wounded? Why else would I be so worried that you disappear for a day at a time without saying anything? You think I just run around stargazing and caring for every other member of the agency I’ve been partnered with?”
“Well, no, but-” Seven argues, only for you to cut him off.
“But what? There’s no ‘buts’ here. I thought we’d made progress last night, and that I’d finally gotten you to open up… Seven, when you love someone, you don’t just want to see them at their best. You make me laugh, and you’re wonderful, but I want more than that. I want to take care of you when you’re hurt and when you’re sick, I want to be the shoulder you cry on… I want to hold your hand and make you feel better after a long day,” You start to stand up and head for the door. “If you don’t want that, though… I guess I understand. It’s my fault for getting my hopes up, considering our line of work. I’ll just leave-”
“Wait!” Seven objects, to which you look over at him again. A shocked expression takes over your face. He wants, more than anything, to tell you that he loves you, but the words seem to die on his tongue. He hasn’t said them in years. So, instead, he starts with- “Please… Take care of me. I want you to, too, and… I’ll cry on your shoulder, if I need to.”
You smile at that, then walk back over to where Seven is sitting and offer him your hand.
“C’mon. Let’s go to the bathroom and get you cleaned up, yeah? I’ll wash your hair.”
“Okay,” Seven agrees and takes your hand. You help him up, then guide him to his bathroom. “But only if I can wash yours, too, ‘kay?”
You laugh.
“Sure thing, Seven.”
~
Later that night, the two of you are in Seven’s bed, lying side by side. You both smell of his bubblegum shampoo and soap, and though he misses the smell of yours that normally lingers on you, he’s relieved that the two of you are finally settled after the night you’ve had. His bruises have been iced, his cuts are bandaged, and your warmth envelops his body as you rest your head on his chest and curl into his side.
“Thanks for fixing me up and keeping me company, (y/n). I really don’t deserve it after how I acted earlier… I’m sorry,” Seven apologizes as he reaches over for the nightstand lamp.
While the two of you didn’t discuss it, he assumes you’re staying the night- or, he hopes you are, at least.
“It’s no problem. Even superheroes need a little help sometimes,” You chuckle and press a kiss against the exposed skin of Seven’s shoulder. “Seven…”
“Hey,” Seven nuzzles into your hair and kisses the top of your head. “My name is Saeyoung, so you can call me that when we’re alone.”
“Okay, then, Saeyoung. Is that all you have to say? Because I think there’s something else you’re forgetting to tell me.”
“No, um… Well, I don’t say these words often, so it’s taking me a lot of courage to say them, but I love you, (y/n).”
“I love you too,” You respond and pull the blankets tightly around the two of you before settling against Saeyoung. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, (y/n).”

Welcome to the Thiam Big Bang 2023!
It’s that time again, Thiam Lovers - due to popular demand, we’re hosting another Big Bang Event!
How does this work?
We’ve decided to try something different this year! We all know what it’s like to struggle with muse and many of us have unfinished works collecting dust, crying out so that they may one day be finished and released to be devoured by readers. It’s time to dust off those plots and bring new life to them! Introducing: Something Old, Something New!
There will be two tracks for this Big Bang: creating a brand new work or completing an unfinished work. Writers will create/update an original Theo/Liam work. About halfway through, writers will submit a rough draft and summaries of their work. During this time, there will be a claiming phase for artists to claim a writers’ summary that they want to create art for. You will then work with your writer/artist/beta to create amazing works for the Big Bang!
What are the rules?
There is no word limit! We just ask that you produce a finished work by the final deadline.
Artists, create to your heart’s content using whatever medium you prefer.
The main pairing must exclusively be Thiam - poly relationships including Thiam are not allowed. Side pairings/relationships are still allowed.
Your fic can be any genre; canon, AU, etc. The floor is yours to write what you want! Take your prompt and run wild with it!
WIPs that are already posted to the public can be used for the Big Bang. However, it cannot be a work from a previous Big Bang event or any other event that had a partnership between artists/authors that was created by the OTL team.
Additionally, if you have started something that you would like to use, and it has not been posted to the public, you can do that.
During the Big Bang, works must not be made public before final posting dates. If you are doing the WIP track, you are not allowed to post updates/new chapters to your fic during the course of the event. You must wait until the end to post your updates. You can of course talk with your friends, beta, and artist, for plot points, ideas, etc. Please also keep details about your story a secret during the course of the event. This keeps it a fun surprise for everyone when works are posted!
Work together with your partners as you create! This is meant to be a collaborative effort. Artists, please do not throw fully fledged spiral ideas at your writers. Authors, please communicate with your artists about your vision. The two of you need to work together for this event to be a success for all!
If an author and artist wish to pair up on their own and create, please do so! The more participants, the merrier! Please make sure that both parties fill out the sign-up sheet for the sake of check-ins.
Betas:
Betas are not required for this event! If you have your own beta, great! Betas usually help with grammar and spelling but can also help with ideas, plot holes, etc. Beta readers, please sign up using the form provided! It will be the same form used for artists and authors.
Cheerleaders:
If you are also interested in being a cheerleader for our writers/artists, please jump right in! Cheerleaders offer encouragement, support, can act as a sounding board for ideas, or just generally chat about Thiam and/or the Big Bang event. You can be a cheerleader and a beta, a cheerleader for an artist, author or both. It will be the same form used for artists and authors.
A friend and I already have an idea for a fanfic/fanart collaboration - do we still have to go through the traditional sign up?
The Big Bang is the perfect occasion to do a collab! The sign-up form is adapted to these situations. So, yes, we do ask that you fill out the sign up form and state that you are partnered already. You will not receive the prompt bank in this case. You will still need to take part in check ins so that we know you are on track for posting dates.
Can I sign up with a co-author?
Yes! When filling out the sign up form, please state your co-author and ask them to submit a form as well.
Can I sign up as a writer AND an artist?
Yes you can! But please make sure you can fulfill the responsibilities you’re signing up for. Please ensure you have time to complete your fic and create art for the writer you are paired up with.
What happens if there is an uneven number of writers and artists?
We will have an option for artists/authors to do a second pairing and if needed advertise for pinch hitters. We will do everything we can to ensure that every prompt has both a writer and an artist so everyone can participate in this event.
Checkpoints:
We will send out reminder emails during each checkpoint. These will be gentle reminders, used for encouragement and motivation, to check in with you in your writing process. The first mandatory checkpoint will be August 19, where we will ask for confirmation that writer and artist partners have been in contact with each other. The second mandatory checkpoint will be September 23, where writers and artists must confirm you are on track for finishing your work by the posting week.
What if I need to drop out?
We know real life can get in the way sometimes. If you need to drop out, can’t meet the deadline, etc. please contact the mods ASAP (preferably no later than the second mandatory check-in on September 23 so we can find a pinch hitter).
Posting/ Submissions:
There will be a Thiam Big Bang collection on AO3 to post all of your works. If you don’t have an AO3 account, you can sign up here. Please be aware that it might take several weeks to get an invitation to create an account. If you are a member of the OTL Discord, post and ask members if they have any invitations they can share with you as many of us have multiple we can give out. Submissions are posted on AO3, and it must be a masterpost of the fic and art. The collection will be unrevealed and moderated to ensure that posts are not revealed before the final due date.
Tumblr Posts:
When posting on tumblr, please use #thiambigbang2023 and #officialthiamlibrary in your first five tags so we can find it and reblog your works. Again, when posting on tumblr, it must be a masterpost with both the fic and art. Please DO NOT post your works for public viewing before the final deadline. And of course, if tumblr is acting wonky and your posts are still not showing up in the tags, you can always mention us in the post, submit it here, or email us at [email protected].

Do you think Biden would have beaten Trump had he run in 2016? I know Biden stepped aside because because of his son, but it also seems likely he stepped aside for Clinton.
Yes, I do think that Biden would have beaten Trump in 2016. I don't know how Biden would have handled a campaign at that time with the death of his son having taken place much more recently, but if he could have emotionally handled the rigors of a full-on Presidential campaign at that time, I think he would have beaten Trump in the general election.
The question to me is whether or not Biden could have won the Democratic nomination in 2016 if he had run against Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Obviously, Biden was younger at the time than he is now and still a much better retail campaigner than Hillary ever was, but I don't know if a Biden campaign in 2016 would have had the same energy as the Sanders campaign that year -- either from the grassroots or from the top-down. It would have been a much different campaign than 2020, as well, because that one took place during the pandemic and Biden was able to run against an historically unpopular incumbent in the midst of botching the worst public health crisis that every voter in America had ever lived through.
The other big question if Biden had run in 2016 is the role of Barack Obama. In 2016, Biden was the incumbent Vice President, finishing his second term of a partnership with President Obama that ended up being one of the closest personal and political relationships that a President and Vice President ever had. But it is no secret that President Obama did not believe that then-Vice President Biden was the best choice to succeed him. Biden's emotional well-being after the death of his son in May 2015 certainly worried Obama, but in books and reporting since that time, it's been apparent that Obama believed that Hillary Clinton made more sense as his successor in 2016 than Biden for a number of reasons. That ultimately resulted in some hurt feelings on the Biden side at the time when Obama seemed to be urging Biden to step aside in 2016 while the Vice President was still considering a potential run. It never impacted Biden's loyalty to the Obama Administration or truly got personal, but it was especially troubling to Biden because he still had not made a final decision about a potential 2016 campaign and one of Beau Biden's dying wishes was that his father would run for President. Obama never directly discouraged Biden from running in 2016; he thought that Biden earned the right to make his own decision about the race, but he was worried about Biden's emotional state in the wake of Beau's recent death, he worried that Biden wasn't the right candidate to defeat Hillary or Bernie for the nomination, and he worried that a potential Biden loss -- either in the primaries or the general election -- would tarnish Biden's overall political legacy and possibly come across as a repudiation of the Obama Administration eight years in the White House.
Of course, Trump's victory over Hillary in 2016 gave Obama's successor the opportunity to immediately start reversing many of Obama's accomplishments and reset the hope and change represented by Obama's successful 2008 campaign. And the irony is that the crucial, traditionally-Democratic blue-collar voters that Hillary Clinton's campaign tended to overlook in 2016 are the same voters that Biden has spent a significant portion of his political career representing and connecting with. So in 2016, Trump won battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Ohio that Obama had won in both 2008 and 2012. Without those states in 2016, Trump wouldn't have defeated Hillary Clinton, and when Biden did run against Trump in 2020, his victories in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania (Trump once again won Ohio and Iowa) were crucial in the Electoral College.

Queen Camilla’s Patronages
St. John’s Hospital (Patron from 21.07.2009)
One of the UK’s oldest and most respected charities, we provide almshouse accommodation and help people in need throughout the Bath and North East Somerset area. Supporting children from birth to 12 years old, older people aged over 55, and people who have come to a point of crisis in their lives.
Understanding that we need to work together to ensure nobody gets left behind or forgotten, we take a holistic approach to our charitable work. We choose to work with local partner organisations for their specific knowledge and expertise, and their ability to help implement our initiatives and programmes with the greatest efficiency to support positive social change.
Like many modern charities we invest our funds wisely, in order to maximise returns and generate the income we require to ensure we can implement our charitable activities. These activities comprise a wide range of forward-thinking social initiatives and partnership programmes, and the provision of high-quality almshouse accommodation and associated services.
Founded in Bath on Christian principles by Bishop Reginald Fitzjocelyn in 1174, St John’s Hospital, now St John’s Foundation, is – and always has been – in many ways a thought-leader and a pioneer, often challenging the status quo, identifying where systems in society are broken or failing, and seeking solutions to fix them.
In order to extend the reach and social impact of our charitable work, we always share our experiences and learning with like-minded organisations throughout the UK and beyond. It is our duty as a community charity aiming to remove inequalities from society.
“Continuity can be a rare commodity in this day and age, but it is one of the key features of the service that St John’s Hospital has provided to the city of Bath for more than 800 years.
An organisation does not survive for that length of time without continually adapting to changes within society. It is this ability to adapt and evolve that has enabled St John’s to deliver a consistently high quality of care and support up to the present day.
St John’s Hospital was founded by Bishop Reginald Fitzjocelyn in 1174 to help those in need within the city of Bath. Over time, St John’s has developed into a modern almshouse charity which now provides self-contained flats for 120 older people of limited means, as well as making grants to community organisations and individuals.
I was delighted to be asked to become the Patron of St John’s Hospital at one of the most interesting points in its history. The first phase of the building modernisation programme is now complete and phase two is about to begin. Transforming these properties in the city centre will, in turn, help to transform the lives of those living at St John’s for generations to come.
I hope you will join me in supporting the wonderful work of St John’s Hospital and in wishing it every success for the future.” - Queen Camilla

VENUS RETROGRADE IN LEO
On July 22, 2023, Venus, the planet of love, friendship, money and pleasure will Retrograde in the extravagant sign of Leo. It’s been many years since Venus had its retrogradation in this sign; therefore, it’s considered as a special astrological event. Venus will be very close to the Earth for the next several months until September 3, 2023, for that reason this energy is more internalised and rather heart based (Leo).
Issues regarding self-love and self – value tend to be part of our personal agenda. Themes around our resources, money and our personal self -worth could be revised and reconsidered. We may question our love/marriage relationships, friendship or business partnerships: Are they really aligned with my values and personal needs? Do they (relationships) contribute as much as I do or in contrary…All these issues and questions, mentioned above, will come up within, from the heart, in aim to trigger our independent being, and to invite us to work on and respectively to improve on our self-confidence and image.
On the other hand, this could be a great time to focus our energy on spoiling our inner child; to treat ourself with respect and pleasurable things in life, regardless of outer circumstances, and other influences. It is an encouragement to focus on ‘Me’ first; to be a centre of attention no because of others but for your own sake.
It is a good idea, to take a holiday, to pumper yourself and to enjoy beautiful things in life, but be careful with food, sweets and money spendings which we may tend to over do it with Venus in Leo. Reconnecting with old friend, even ex –partner/lover, intentionally or not, it’s also very possible.
During Venus Retrograde period, Jupiter and Uranus (in Taurus) are making a square aspect with Venus. This could be another conformation for over spendings and over indulgence as well as currency/economic instabilities in a global level. Be careful with beauty treatments; especially, when it comes to drastic body or aesthetic procedures or interventions; postpone such after Venus goes direct, if possible, because things may not go as expected in this regard.
We also tend to express a rebellious behaviour (Uranus) when it comes to love, money and pleasures (Venus) which could be in clash with social norms, personal values and believes (Jupiter). However, artistic ventures (if you are in this field) could be original, attractive, expansive and successful under this energy influence.
Best wishes,
suni astrology

Who wants to spice up their life...
...and knows their way around AI?
If you're been reading my posts for a while you will remember I love horse racing and especially love betting on horse racing. I've been doing it for about 55 years and have seen thousands and thousands of races live and on TV. Now that I'm retired I have wanted to get more serious about it. About four years ago I wrote an algorithm and hired someone to code it in Excel. It was an interesting process and took several months.
The screenshots above show the entries/results of the 2022 Breeder's Cup Juvenile, a $2 million dollar race for two year-olds. The winner at a handsome 5/1 was Forte (also the current favourite for this year's Kentucky Derby). You can see by the number circled in red (in the yellow column) of my handicapping program that it was a most probable (MPW) winner.
My program works fairly well but is decidedly incomplete. There are easily 25 variables for each horse entered in a race -- the obvious ones are class, distance, weight, age, surface, conditioning (fitness), trainer, and jockey. Many of these are objective, some are subjective, all need to be weighed when performing comparative analysis with the other horses in the race. In short, handicapping cries out for intense data crunching and automation. This is where AI comes in.
It's my understanding that AI can be taught how to learn: I want to perform reverse engineering analysis on thousands of racers to see what characteristics and in what ratio winning horses shared that non-winners didn't. (Bear in mind that you don't need to be Secretariat to win a race, just be better than all the other horses in that race). Once an algorithm has been established it can be automatically applied to future races to identify MPWs for each race. They can be compared to the other horses to see to what extent they calculate as superior, in other words, which ones are the best bets. This can be done on a widespread basis for every race every day, the only constraint being the cost of data (not inconsiderable).
Hopefully the program can learn from its successes and failures to calibrate the process more finely. I am sure the same 'quant boys' who have aimed their computers at Wall Street are getting their feet wet in automated handicapping and wagering. However I'm convinced there's enough money on the table for dedicated non-professionals to make money.
If you've read this far and know AI, this is where you come in. I'm looking for a partnership, not an employee. We share in the work and in the end you are free to take the program and use it (privately) as you wish. We can continue to collaborate as long as you want. I have the secret sauce -- an objective way to measure the most important variable (class). We can have the computer show us the best way to measure and rank the other variables.
In parting I'll give you two anecdotes about class: in the 1920s they used tapes as barriers instead of starting gates. It is said when Man O' War stepped up to the tape, the other horses involuntarily took a step back. And the Bible of horse racing by Thomas Ainsley contains the single most important sentence you'll ever read about racing: "A classy horse may tire in the stretch but he will never give up".
Class always tells.
(If you know AI and think this sounds interesting please contact me at [email protected])

Dead by Daylight’s Impact on One Streamer
Dead by Daylight by Behaviour Interactive is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror survival game which has four survivors versus one killer. This game has 12.5 million followers on Twitch. Twitch is a streaming platform for gamers to stream games they play to audiences from around the world. Many gamers stream Dead by Daylight and have even made it their go to stream game. HenRockCity is a Dead by Daylight streamer on Twitch with four thousand followers that streams this game every day.
Q: How long would you say you have been playing Dead by Daylight? Why have you stayed with it as long as you have?
A: I have been playing Dead by Daylight since the week it came out on computer, which is a little over six and a half years. I have stayed as long as I have playing Dead by Daylight because I love playing Survivor and being in chase. I have never played a game like this before, so it was very unique and special to me. I also love that they continue to add so much content and amazing licensed killers.
Q: Why has Dead by Daylight become such a big part of your streaming career?
A: I just flat out fell in love with the game and thought that it would be such a great game to stream. I was so hooked and was having so much fun that I decided to just make it a big part of my streams. The long chases, helping teammates from any rough situation they are in and also making tons of new friends in the matches that I solo queue in. The connection you make with people in a game like that is just a special feeling. The Dead by Daylight community has too much negativity & toxicity behind it, I like to be the more positive side of that and always remind people that it’s just a game at the end of the day and always try your best to just have fun with it!
Q: Have you played both Survivor and Killer? If so, which one do you prefer?
A: I have played both! but I feel like as a streamer, it’s so much easier to play survivor since you have some down time to focus on chat and hangout with the community more. I don’t really enjoy killer much, it’s fun but it really makes it hard to play as a streamer because all your focus has to go into finding 4 survivors that you are hunting down to kill. So taking your eyes off the screen to briefly look at chat, you might end up losing the person you are going after.
Q: Dead by Daylight has grown very popular in the seven years it has existed, between thousands of concurrent players and partnerships with major companies within the horror genre. Why do you think that is?
A: The four survivors versus one killer aspect of the game is unique and not many games out there are like this. Some have tried and had some levels of success like Friday the 13th and Video Horror Society, but the numbers do not come close to Dead by Daylight. The licensed killers and survivors like Freddy, Michael Myers, Nemesis, Wesker from Resident Evil and Demogorgon from Stranger Things really elevated this game’s player base. I truly believe that has been the key factor in why the game has such massive success.
Q: Is there anything you would change about the game?
A: I wish the developers would really consider how to deal with the slugging and tunneling issue the game has at the moment. I know it’s not something that is easy to fix but if I was able to change anything about it, that would be it.
Q: I know you mentioned slugging and camping being something you would change about the game, could you explain that?
A: Slugging in Dead by Daylight is a term the players use when the killer downs everyone and leaves them on the ground to bleed out and die instead of playing the way it was meant to be played which is hook a survivor once you down them and move on to the next one. Camping is when the killer stays by the hooked survivor and does not leave them at all. They will just wait for that survivor to just die on hook and not chase anyone else. If someone attempted to go in for the save, some killers will “tunnel” focus down that one survivor over and over until they die.
Q: Do you think that you will continue to play Dead by Daylight in the future? What partnerships do you hope Dead by Daylight will build going forward?
A: I definitely will continue to keep playing Dead by Daylight! Even with its issues, I still love the game very much and I always find it tons of fun. I would love to see them partner with toy companies like Nendoroid or companies similar to that. I believe they planned to release Funko Pops, but something happened with that deal, and it was cancelled.
Q: Thank you so much for your time. Any last thoughts you’d like to share?
A: You are so welcome! Thank you for this amazing interview. I had a great time answering your incredible questions. I don’t have anything else to add, this was fun!
Check out HenRockCity streaming Dead by Daylight on Twitch. Learn more about Dead by Daylight by Behaviour Interactive.

Why Remixing on YouTube Can Be a Game-Changer for Independent Artists
In the digital age, music consumption and distribution have drastically changed. For independent artists, YouTube offers an unparalleled opportunity to reach global audiences and generate income. While producing original music is a classic route to success, remixing tracks offers a unique and powerful alternative. By remixing popular songs and sharing them on YouTube, artists can tap into a pre-existing fan base and elevate their visibility. But beyond gaining recognition, remixing also opens up an avenue for artists to Monetize your remix on YouTube globally, which can be a game-changer in how they earn revenue from their craft.
Why Remixing is a Powerful Tool for Independent Artists
Remixing music is an art form that allows musicians to put their unique spin on existing tracks. The beauty of remixing lies in its versatility and accessibility. Instead of starting from scratch, artists can build on the creativity of others and present a fresh perspective. It’s not just about making something new; it’s about adding value and enhancing the experience for the audience.
For independent musicians, remixing is an especially powerful tool. Unlike original compositions, remixes often have the benefit of leveraging the success and recognition of the original song. Popular tracks come with a built-in fan base, which means that when you release a remix, there’s already an audience looking for content related to that track. This allows you to gain exposure quickly and draw attention to your musical talents.
Gaining Exposure through YouTube
One of the key benefits of remixing songs is the ability to reach a wide and varied audience. YouTube is the world’s second-largest search engine and one of the most visited websites globally. With billions of users, YouTube serves as the perfect platform to share your remixes. In addition to the massive user base, YouTube has sophisticated algorithms that can help your remix reach new listeners if it resonates with the right audience.
For independent artists, YouTube is an especially valuable tool for exposure. Unlike traditional media channels, which often require significant investment or partnerships with record labels, YouTube allows you to upload content directly and for free. This means that even small, independent creators have a chance to be seen by the world. By regularly posting remixes of trending songs or unique takes on classic tracks, you can build a fan base and grow your channel organically.
How to Monetize Your Remixes on YouTube
While gaining exposure is one of the immediate benefits of remixing and uploading to YouTube, the real advantage lies in the potential to Monetize your remix on YouTube globally. Monetization is crucial for independent artists who wish to turn their passion into a viable career. Luckily, YouTube offers several ways to generate revenue from your content.
The most common method of monetization is through YouTube's Partner Program (YPP), which allows creators to earn money through ad revenue. This includes ads displayed before, during, or after videos, as well as banner ads on the YouTube platform. To qualify for the YPP, you need to meet certain criteria, including having at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours within the past year. Once you meet these criteria, you can apply to join the program and start earning revenue from your remixes.
Additionally, if your remixes gain significant traction, you may also attract sponsorships and brand deals, providing another avenue for income. Many companies are keen to collaborate with content creators who have a global following, making YouTube remixes an attractive proposition for advertisers.
Another potential revenue stream comes from YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Thanks features, which allow viewers to financially support content creators during live streams or through video comments. These features give fans the ability to show their appreciation for your remixes, adding an extra layer of income.
The Global Reach of YouTube Remixes
One of the greatest advantages of posting remixes on YouTube is the ability to reach a global audience. Music transcends borders, and by remixing popular songs, you’re tapping into an international fan base that spans countries and cultures. YouTube’s global nature means that your remixes can gain attention from listeners in every corner of the world, providing opportunities that were once limited to artists signed to major labels.
Whether you’re remixing a song that’s currently trending in the US, or breathing new life into a track that’s popular in another country, YouTube provides a platform where global audiences can discover your work. This global reach not only boosts your chances of gaining followers but also increases the likelihood of monetizing your content through ads, sponsorships, and other revenue opportunities.
Building a Career Around Your Remixes
With consistent uploads, audience engagement, and strategic promotion, you can turn your YouTube remixes into a sustainable career. Many successful artists today have built their careers on the back of their remixes. Whether you’re remixing chart-topping hits or niche songs, the possibilities are endless when it comes to building your brand and growing your presence.
In addition to revenue through YouTube, remixing can open doors to other opportunities in the music industry, such as collaborations, live performances, or licensing deals. The key to long-term success is creating quality remixes that resonate with your audience and maintaining a consistent online presence.
