Summary: Aultho had a bad day at work (due to a particular half-elf). His sibling Lyric tries to help.

Lyric sat in their room tinkering with a new crystal array. Normally they would be in bed already, but their brother had messaged them from work saying that he would be home late. It meant one of two things; he either had a big last minute order or he had stuck his foot in his mouth again.

While soldering a few stray wires on their latest project, they heard their brother slam the door, followed by a loud "Vyshaana darrdartha biir!" Yeah. That was never a good sign. They put their tools away and headed towards the sounds of angry sun elf.

They leaned against the doorway to the kitchen, eyeing Aultho. He was facing away from them, searched for something in the upper cupboards. "I'm guessing your evening went well," they said with a smirk.

"Not now Lyric," he replied flatly without turning around. Uh-oh. This was bad.

Lyric reached out and placed a hand on their brother's shoulder. He was tense. The twins stood like this for a moment as Lyric's thumb made soft circles on the other's shoulder. Finally, Aultho's shoulders slumped with a sigh as he turned his head. A deep bruise blossomed across his jaw and he had the beginnings of a black eye. "Seldarine!" they exclaimed. "What... how... go sit. I'll bring some ice and healing aid."

A halfhearted smile appeared on Aultho's face as he shook his head. "Gys sa salen?" he said more like a question than a demand as he nodded towards the liquor.

"Sure," Lyric replied. "Elven wine or something harder?"

"Whichever you grab first," he answered as he walked towards the small livingroom.

Lyric poured up two drinks, sending a small machine to grab the healing aid while they got the rest. They pulled a coldpack out of storage and activated it with a tap before pressing it between their body and arm so they would have two free hands for the glasses. By the time they walk into the livingroom and sat the glasses down, the machine had returned, healing aid in hand.

Aultho glanced and the tin. "I only asked for a drink," he said. It was an absentminded observation, the kind he often made that got him in the most trouble.

"And I brought you something that will actually do some good," they replied. They dipped their fingers in the magic infused balm and applied a thin coat to his face. They made a mental note to make more for him to keep at work. Aultho would have never let them see him like this if he had any left.

Slowly, the balm did it's job as the scraps knitted themselves back together, the harsh bruise faded to a softer hue, and the swelling became less pronounced. "Thank you," Aultho said with a sigh. Lyric wordlessly ploped the coldpack in his hand before taking their seat. Aultho placed the pack on the sore area and sighed again before reaching over to grab his drink.

Lyric gave him a few rare moments of silence to collect his thoughts. They were going to find out what happened of course, but Aultho looked so drained that they decided he needed a little more time than normal. It wasn't the first time he had come home like this since they fled to Solace. In fact, when the twins first arrived it had been almost a daily occurrence! Lyric had gotten in their fair share of stupid fights too - especially those first couple months - but they had adapted and found friends that helped them understand. All Aultho had was Lyric, a prickly exterior, and a strong aversion to admitting when he needed help.

Lyric was about to start prodding when a heavy sigh came from Aultho. "I really have no idea how I pissed this one off," he said. His head was leaned back and his eyes were closed. "The gods damned biir."

"Did you call him a biir?" Lyric asked. Serious or no, they could never resist getting cheeky with their brother.

Aultho leaned up to roll his eyes at them, only to stop with a flinch and an "ow". He looked like he had a headache coming on. "I haven't been that stupid since the second month we arrived here," he replied.

"And yet-" they started

"I know," he said. "It still comes out sometimes when I'm mad. Apologies."

They reached out and patted his leg. At least he was trying.

"I was about to close shop when a customer came in," he said, looking at his sibling. "Tall. Loud. Probably half-elf or human. Wearing one of those stupid school sports coats..."

They furrowed their brow. "Letterman jacket?" they guessed.

"Yes!" he said. "That's it."

"So probably in high school or college?" they asked.

He nodded and then seemed to immediately regret it. "Yes," he answered. "That sounds about right. A real gabreth. He banged on the counter, demanding a small briefcase. I suggested he make it a briefcase of holding. Then he punched me, yanked me up by my collar, said he wanted the feature while threatening me, requested initials, and then said he would be back in two hours to pick it up!"

They stared. "That's... how could that even be done," they asked.

"Not easily," he answered. "I luckily had a small black briefcase already made plus several scrolls on hand to help with the magic and lettering, but it was close." He winced. "Too close. I half expected him to punch me again once I explained that the magic had to settle for a couple weeks before the holding feature he requested would work, but he seemed quite happy with it." A humorless laugh came out. "Even gave me a tip."

Lyric breathed out heavily and sunk into their seat. "Wow," they said. They blinked a few times, trying to figure out what to do next. "Okay. Lets go through EXACTLY what you said. Because this is either a learning moment for you or a perfect time for me to test out my battle tech."

This got a real laugh out of him. "Okay," he answered. "Let's see..." He scewed his face in thought. "I think he said 'I demand a goblin sized leather briefcase.' I told him it would be a tiny thing and turning it into a briefcase of holding would give the goblin a lot more space to store the shiny things they stole. Then he punched me and-"

"Wait," they said, holding up a hand. Lyric was pretty sure their brain quit working for a second there and was desperately trying to catch up. "Did you actually tell this person... that goblins are thieves who like shiny things?"

A pause. His eyes widened. "...yes?" he answered, drawing out the eh sound.

Oh dear gods their brother could be an idiot sometimes. "Al," they said. "You can't... that's month four stuff!"

"But just last week someone told me..." He stopped and closed his eyes as he breathed out, defeated. "Mhaor kiira," he whispered.

"Hey," they said, taking their brother's hand, "whoever told you that was the asshole here. It's not your fault. Not completely anyway." It was hard enough for Aultho to sort through the lies and truthes without some idiot making it harder on him. Unfortunately, their brother was an accidental bigot magnet.

"Maethe," he said solemnly, "but I am still the fool falling for their false truthes after nearly a year."

They glared at him. "I will fight you ya know?" they replied. "I have a pile of battle tech ready to unleash at a moment's notice."

He raised an eyebrow. "Is it beside the pile of gay stuff?" he asked.

"My dearest brother," they answered with a hand to their chest, "Everything I own is gay stuff. You have to be more specific." They punctuated it with a wink.

He chuckled softly. "I should have realized," he replied. He looked at them with a genuine smile now that reached his eyes. "We should probably prepare for bed," he said suddenly as he stood up and stretched. "Would you mind if I borrowed your mini crystal while I trance? I might need a refresher."

Lyric smiled brightly at him. It was the first time he had asked for the mini crystal instead of having it pushed on him. Progress. "Sure," they answered with a nod as they unclipped the purplish pink crystal and handed it to him. "No problem." They made a mental note to get him one of his own that they could update regularly.

He looked down at the crystal now cradled in his hands. "Thank you," he said with a soft smile before turning to walk away. "Goodnight, Syolkiir," he said over his shoulder as he went into his room.

"Goodnight, Quinpah," they answered. "Love you too."

Bond’s Breakfasts part 3 - Danny

Danny and James have a really special relationship when James started dating three men many 00s slapped him on the back. “Well done you have foursomes on tap now, and with, wait are they, twins? lucky fucking bastard!” James rolled his eyes because the truth is it really isn't like that at all.

Alex is a Grey Ace, Q was always running after some agent or other at work or pottering around with some gadget or other. Danny, however, he did spend a lot of time with off-mission. Danny is easy going and affectionate and James finds his busy happy energy calming.

It's like when they put donkey’s in with racehorses to calm them down except its a bit of a duff analogy because Danny is no donkey and he is no racehorse but it's like that he just calms him down.

He particularly loves cooking with Danny mostly because the other two couldn't give a damn and Danny is an eager student. Making Brioche is a labour of love and James Bond loves Danny Holt. He’d have to because this recipe is a pain to make especially because James does it by hand the macho arse.

Danny’s Chocolate Chip Brioche

Ingredients: This makes approx. 500g/1 lb loaf 250 grams Strong Bread Flour 7 grams of instant dried yeast 80ml of milk (5tbsp +1tps) 2 large eggs + 1 for glazing 25 grams of Sugar 20 grams of Unsweetened Cocoa or Matcha (these are completely optional) 125 grams of Butter at room temperature 100 grams Chocolate Chips a pinch of salt

Method: Warm the milk in the microwave for about 20 sec so that it's warm but not hot add it the yeast and leave to bloom a little.

Into the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough attachment, add the flour, sugar, salt, and sift in the cocoa/matcha if you are using it. turn the machine on low and add the milk and then the two beaten eggs.

Combine the ingredients into a rough dough and then leave the machine to need the dough for a further 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, chop the butter into pieces and add them one by one while continuing to need the dough for another five minutes. Once the five minutes are up and the butter has been fulling incorporated, place in an oiled bowl or a large Tupperware box. Cover and refrigerate overnight for a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 24 hours.

The cold dough will be easier to work and this stage and you can now fold in the chocolate chip. Oil your worktop with a flavourless oil like canola or rapeseed oil and tip the dough out. Oil the palms of your hands and work the dough into a rough square pour half the chocolate chips evenly on to one side of the bread and fold the other side over. Knead the chips in repeat the process with the other half of the chips pushing any errant chips back in as you knead

Shape into a loaf or cake tin and cover before leaving to rise in a warm place for one hour.

Glaze the loaf with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven and 180 C/350F/gas mark 4 for 20 minutes once baked leave to on a wire rack to cool.

Danny’s tip: Eat french style breaking off pieces and dipping them in sinfully rich hot chocolate or strong black coffee.

Cryptid Chenle Mini-Au

(obviously i tweaked the lore a little bit so i could write this. this fic does mention death and has negative themes like depression and the struggle of self acceptance)

A young couple in China gives birth to a bouncing baby boy with a temper and the tendency to scream so loudly the neighbors would complain. If not for the way he wailed at night, you'd think he was a happy baby. In the moments where he was impossible to console, there was another family about to experience the anguish of the shrieking baby boy.

In the years to come, the bouncing baby boy grew, but the inconsolable episodes stayed. Putting him into school proved to be difficult, as many in the cryptid community had not yet experienced the likes of a banshee. He was sent home more often than not, and eventually his parents decided to teach him at home until they learned to control his episodes.

“You need to punish him,” the woman’s mother tells her when the boy turns 8. “He’s too old to be throwing tantrums. You’ve spent his whole life consoling him. You’re letting him think he’s in charge here!”

The boy sits in the hallway, on his way back from playing outside when he hears the annoyed words of his grandmother. Sitting against the wall with his hands clasped over his ears and tears pooling in his eyes, he feels like nobody will ever be able to understand him. Nobody understands how much it hurts when he screams.

“Chenle, baby, what’s the matter?” his mother asks, walking out of the living room to find him sitting in the hall.

“I fell down,” he lies, voice fragile and shaking.

She doesn’t have to know he heard. He already knows he’s a freak of nature.

“Where’d you fall?” she asks, worried. “What hurts?”

Her hands begin to roam him, checking him for cuts or bruises.

“I fell off the porch,” he says, thinking back to the tumble he took earlier in the day. “I hit my knee.”

He wonders if she feels the same way, too. Does she think he’s broken?

The next week his father has to leave on a trip and he’s left staying at his grandmother’s house. She’s strict, and she likes to make him follow a schedule while he’s there. He hates it, but he knows his parents are busy, so he behaves the best he can.

“I will not baby you in this house, young man. I will cook you dinner and reach the things you cannot. Other than that you must behave and act like a grown up, understood?”

He nods simply. He knows not to get in her way by now. She just doesn’t understand that he hurts and that he can’t help it when he screams. If he’s quiet and patient and out of her way, maybe she won’t hate him so much anymore. Maybe if he’s nice she’ll understand that he’s broken and he doesn’t know how to fix it.

He remains quiet and out of the way. He speaks when spoken to and plays quietly in the yard with the 3 toys he was allowed to bring. He picks himself up when he falls, even if he cries a little after. He doesn’t make eye contact at dinner and he bathes himself and tucks himself into bed.

It’s always hard to sleep at grandma’s house. If he feels funny and anxious, she doesn’t have to know. He manages to sleep for a little while, but when he wakes in the middle of the night it’s with a feeling of dread. His body feels cold and he isn’t able to get a pillow over his mouth before the scream rips out of his body. He tries to choke back the wail that bubbles in his chest, but it’s a battle he knows he’ll always lose.

Sobbing all alone in a dark room as the rain patters on the tin roof, Chenle wonders if he’ll ever be fixed.

“Please!” he wails, though he’s not quite sure what’s he pleading for.

The mantra is lost in a tirade of tears and sobs as Chenle feels himself slip away. He knows he’s waken his grandmother, but the distress freezes him. All he can do is cry and hope it passes soon. Surely he won’t be stuck this way for life. He can’t be, can he?

When his mother comes back, he overhears his grandmother insisting he get checked out by a doctor. He clutches his teddy close and gulps as he thinks about going to the hospitals. He doesn’t know what they’d do to him. The first image that comes to mind is his brain being hooked up to monitors as they ask him questions he knows he can’t answer. His mother finds him crying in the hallway again.

The regular doctors are scary, and they put him in machines that rattle and make him sit completely still. It’s scary and they don’t take him out no matter how much he whimpers or panics. They make him sleep in uncomfortable beds hooked up to lots of wires, and they’re always asking him questions he doesn’t know the answer to.

His mother notices the way he nervously picks at a loose thread on his teddy, but when her husband asks if there’s anything truly wrong with Chenle in the first place, she insists they go on. What kind of parents would they be if they didn’t try to help?

He turns 10 when they turn to the cryptid community for help. He’s cycled through lots of witches and doctors with funny potions and weird questions. None of them seem to think a screaming child is of any concern. Perhaps he just has night terrors, they insist.

It isn’t until they find a centaur when he’s 11 that they get answers. It takes 6 months of meetings and weird therapy exercises. Apparently centaurs are wise, and they search the stars and wisdom of those before them to find the answer.

Chenle’s 11 when he finds out he’s not entirely broken. He’s what’s called a banshee. He announces death. Chenle’s not so sure he wants an answer anymore. Whenever he screams, people die.

“Tell him to take it back.”

“Take what back?” his mother asks on the way home.

“I don’t wanna be a banshee, tell him to take it back.”

“He can’t take it back, baby. You were born to be a banshee. We can’t take back something you’re born with. Especially not when you’re so important and special.”

If being important and special means killing people, Chenle wants to be the most worthless person in the world. He’d rather be a normal human like the boy down the street. He doesn't want to be special anymore. Grandma’s right to hate him. He thinks he’s a bastard as much as she does. Who could love a boy who’s the bringer of death?

The first night he feels anxious after getting an answer is the worst. Maybe if he holds in the scream, nobody will have to die. Once his parents settle down for sleep, he sneaks out through the back door, padding through his neighborhood with bare feet. The forest is a little farther than he remembers. It’s cold out, but he doesn’t care. Curled up next to a tree by a still pond in the early hours of the morning, Chenle thinks about how many people he’s already killed.

Daylight’s beginning to break when he feels it. He’s shaking his head, begging with whoever cursed him to just make it stop. The tears are already dribbling down his cheeks, breath hitching in his throat. He finds a stick and puts it in his mouth. He bites down with a symphony of whimpers, willing himself to be quiet.

He can feel the splinters finding their way into his gums. He can’t be bothered to care. He deserves it, after all, for making so many people die. He tells himself the pain is bearable. Maybe if he takes the pain of all those people, they will live to see another day. He’s the one who should be dying anyways. He’s a bastard and a murderer. He doesn’t deserve a place on this planet. How could his parents still love him for what he’d done?

By the morning he finds himself soaked with another person dead. He curses whoever made him a banshee. He curses whoever decided his sacrifice wouldn’t work, and his chest rattles as he coughs up the water he swallowed. His gums are bleeding, the stick having broken in his mouth as the scream ripped through his chest.

The walk back home is lonely and he’s left wondering why this world wants him alive so badly. His mother and father are screaming at him when he comes back home, clutching him and asking him where he’d been. Chenle tells them he fell in the creek by their house. They don’t have to know.

The centaur insists on meeting Chenle more. He gets training on how to control his screams better and it takes him 8 months to be deemed fit to go to school with the other kids in his town. He’s already made a name for himself, since he has no friends and is one of the only kids who didn’t attend school with them.

He’s quiet, and he knows he’s the talk of the middle school. Kids stare at him in the halls like he’s a freak. He’s bullied and ridiculed for being the weird kid. His parents pull him out of school and move him to a small town in Korea. The kids are nicer there, and there are more cryptids than there were in his hometown. He has never met another banshee, but he does meet 6 boys he befriends over the course of the next few years.

He still struggles to accept his place in this world sometimes. He still flees the house on the nights he knows he’s going to scream. He has to be taken home from school a few times when he screams in class. Nobody says much when he does. They all know what he is now. That doesn’t stop them from being wary of him. Chenle can’t say he blames them. It’d be scary to know a kid who’s the caller of death.

He goes to therapy in hopes that he can live a more normal life. They teach him new ways to cope with what he’s meant to do. His friends don’t ask a lot of questions, and they’re careful when they do. Most of them are cryptids, too. But none of them understand no matter how much Chenle tries to tell them what it’s like to be a banshee. He still panics when they ask. He still goes home and hides under the blankets those days, wondering again if he’s truly just a broken kid. Just one who doubles as a banshee.

He only goes for a dip in the lake one time after the first incident. Sacrificing himself so that others can live is not the answer to fixing him. He doesn’t know if he’ll ever be fixed. His friends and parents tell him there’s nothing to fix. Chenle’s not so sure of it. No matter how happy he is, he still feels displaced in this world.

“So have you ever predicted a death?” Donghyuck asks once at the lunch table.

“That’s his fucking job, stupid,” Renjun replies, slapping Hyuck roughly. “I meant if he knew a certain person was gonna die!”

“It doesn’t work that way,” he says quietly.

He’s much better off not knowing who he’s going to kill next. Death happens for a reason, after all. The world would be too crowded and miserable if everybody stayed alive for the rest of time. He’s doing the world a favor. It’s just not a favor he’s fond of, no matter how necessary it is.

Sometimes people need to die. They’re sick and miserable and some of them aren’t in their right mind to begin with. It’s more comfortable to die, and Chenle can accept that.

He grows older and he grows more content with himself. His friends are supportive and they don’t think he’s a monster. He goes on trips with them and he sleeps over at their houses and they hold him on the nights he ends up screaming and crying in the corner. They’re loving and they make fun of him and goof off and they skip class together. They treat him like he’s as normal as they are. He hasn’t been so happy in his entire life.

Sometimes he’s younger, and they go on trips without him and Jisung. He feels like a normal kid who’s just too young to leave on weekend trips and lives under the thumb of his parents. He complains that it’s unfair and they complain that they don’t want him being out for days with no adult supervision. He’s just another teenager that he sees in the movies. He has the same arguments with his parents and he feels like maybe he isn’t so abnormal after all.

He’s 16 and not allowed to go out with his friends to celebrate Mark’s birthday out of town. He’s jealous that they can go out and stay in hotels and throw parties by a lake near a city for the hell of it. They can drive cars and stay out later than him.

He still gets to hang out with Jisung until 11 pm since they both didn’t get to go on the trip with Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Hyuck, and Jaemin. They’re having their last big hurrah before summer ends and they have to go back to school.

He’s about to settle in for bed on Sunday night when he gets a call at 1 am.

“Hello?” he asks, trying to wipe the sleep from his eyes.

“Chenle.”

“Jaemin? Why are you still up?”

“Listen, I’m having a really hard time staying awake. Please stay on the phone with me. Talk to me about your day. Laugh really loud. Play rock music, I don’t care. Just stay with me, okay?”

“Jaemin, what’s the matter?”

He hears Jaemin groan and smack the steering wheel.

“Fuck, I’m so tired.”

“Jaemin, wake somebody up! Tell them to switch you spots!”

“Shit. I can’t, Chenle. They all left before me. My mom called and I had to sort something out and stay back to help her out. Fuck, how is it possible to be this tired?”

Chenle feels his hand shake slightly as he holds the phone. He gulps, trying to wet his lips as he speaks.

“Just pull over and get some sleep,” Chenle says, voice pleading. “The road will still be there in the morning.”

“I can’t! I have to work with my dad in the morning, I’d never make the drive back on time. Shit!”

“You okay?” Chenle asks.

He can hear the shake in his voice as Jaemin continues to swear.

“Fuck! I just spilled Red Bull all over my lap. Fuck!”

“Please pull over.”

“There’s nowhere to pull over. I haven’t seen anything for miles, Chenle.”

“Just pull over on the side of the road, you moron! Get some sleep, miss working with your dad. Take care of yourself.”

“He’ll have my ass, I can’t. He’s holding me to this one. He’s threatening to send me to military school if I don’t stick to the shit he wants me to do. He fucking hates it when I’m out with Hyuck. He’ll think we were getting up to something while we were out of town.”

Chenle’s heaving in a panic, struggling to find the words he wants to say to Jaemin.

“He’d rather have you be a little late than have you crash your fucking car! You’re costing him less money than car repairs, stupid! Just pull over and go to sleep!”

“I’ll be fine, just keep talking to me.”

Chenle’s quiet for a while.

“You didn’t fall asleep on me…..did you?” Jaemin asks.

“No, no. I’m still here, sorry. How was the trip?”

Chenle’s trying to calm himself as he grabs his coat off of the back of his chair. He can’t quell the anxiety as it constricts his throat. Jaemin is croakily rambling to him about how Hyuck almost got them kicked out of the hotel as Chenle pulls on his shoes. He’s cursing the oncoming episode as he steps out the back door. Why did he have to be a banshee on this night of all nights? Hopefully it’ll keep Jaemin awake if he screams while they’re on the phone.

Jaemin stops talking, but the buzzing concern in Chenle’s head is so loud he doesn’t notice until Jaemin coughs.

“Chenle, you okay?”

“Sorry, I’m just having an episode,” he manages to choke out from his constricted chest.

He holds back a small sob as he pads down the street to the field he sits in when he has to announce a death. His legs are shaking too hard, he knows he won’t make it to the small forest a few miles away. He’s trying to choke back tears as his feet hit the wet cement.

His head’s buzzing so loud. He can barely hear anything as his feet pound against the pavement. The world is blurring with the onslaught of tears. He guesses he should’ve noticed how quiet Jaemin had gotten. Hindsight is always 20/20 though.

“Jaemin, how’s the drive going?”

“It’s fine, promise,” Jaemin says.

He sounds like he’s barely hanging on. Chenle gulps, feeling the dread overtake him. His body goes cold. He calls out again when Jaemin stays quiet.

“Jaemin!!”

He’s heaving, ready to hyperventilate as he shouts again.

“NA JAEMIN, YOU MORON, ANSWER ME!!!”

He should’ve noticed, in retrospect. Why else would the feeling overcome him that night? Why did he have to stop talking? The seconds feel like hours and Chenle can feel the dread building to a crescendo. It pounds away at every nerve in his body and he can hear nothing but his heartbeat in his ears. Why couldn’t he have just pulled over on the side of the road like Chenle asked him to? But that’s all in hindsight now.

“JAEMIN PLEASE!”

Chenle cries as he drops the phone, weeping harder than he ever has during an episode before. He guesses he really can predict a death after all. At 1:22 am, Chenle feels his world crumble around him. Why doesn’t Jaemin just answer him back?

He screams before he can stop himself. A sleepy neighborhood is woken by his anguished cry as another neighborhood 20 miles away is awoken by a honk and the screech of metal.

Must have kitchen equipment

Espresso machines! No offense, but I haven't used a drip coffee maker in years. However, I'd take a fancy programmable drip coffee maker that would have my cup of coffee ready (with a grinder for freshly ground coffee when I wake up), but other than that, I've been there and done that., other than that I currently have a Imusa macchinetta, a Bodum French Press, and a Brim Moka pot, and a De’Longhi espresso machine. I know some don't get the hype, but you'd have to be a coffee connoisseur to understand why I don't mind using so many different brewing devices. I recommend subscribing to James Hoffman's YouTube channel if you are new to all things coffee.

Food processer- I currently have a 10-year old Black+Decker mini food processer from a Wal-Mart black Friday special. It works well but I can only work ingredients in small batches so I stick to chopping, dicing, and mincing aromatics. I'd like a larger food processer to make crumble, create pizza dough, biscuits, and pie dough while saving my arms and wrists from the repetitive motions. I'd also make large batches of humus and salsas- I love making dips.

Stand mixer- I want to throw the ingredients in the mixer and have both hands free to scrape the sides of the bowl and add more of different ingredients at the same time. I have played around with purchasing one at full price and shopping for a refurbished model from a very reputable brand during Black Friday specials. I just haven't had that much difficulty with my hand mixer to trade up, but it I had the space, I definitely would have it on the counter.

Ice cream maker- I LOVE making ice cream and my boyfriend enjoys the creative flavors. There's something about creating your own flavors from your favorite cookies and other desserts. I currently make ice cream with my students using the Ziploc bag and rock salt method. At home I make no-churn ice cream using my hand mixer on a high speed. I'm just curious to see how different the consistency is and how much time it would save if I had a machine. I have yet to receive any complaints with the methods I currently use so...

Current kitchen items I could not live without:

For making Desserts

Dough measuring mat- usually made of silicone, helps me avoid having to cut and recut excess pie crust. Uniformity is important, I use this when making mini apple pies and I haven't had to under stuffed a pie since.

Turntable cake stand- I have an inexpensive cake stand and it gets the job done much better than me struggling to smooth icing while rotating around a rectangle table or trying to slowly slide the cake base. They are as inexpensive as $12. Don't forget a cake slicer, if you are making 2+ layered cakes and don't want to divide and bake the batter using double the number of pans. Cake slicers also make cupcake and brownie sandwiches easier to slice evenly.

Cooling wire rack- I tried to bake large batches while rotating multiple cookie sheets and trivets but it’s not nearly as effective as moving cookies to the cooling rack. The circulation of air will definitely have your cookies tin-ready in no time.

French fry slicer- I used to watch my mom use a slicer with ease and crank out fries within minutes. I do enjoy slicing my own steak fries, but there’s something about being able to convert whole potatoes into fry shape using a single motion. Not to mention using the machine for other veggies you may substitute for French fries.

Air fryer- I've had my current Bella air fryer from Best Buy for almost 3 years now (it was a beginning of the pandemic purchase). Since then, I've perfected a number of foods in the air fryer and have even played around with desserts like cinnamon rolls. I've had my eye on the Ninja air fryer which can cook two items at different temperatures in separate compartments, but it would take up more space than my current air fryer- which I still like.

Espresso bean grinder- fresh ground beans taste much different from the pre-ground coffee you purchase in the store. Ever wonder why people buy coffee and ground it before traveling home? Try it and make coffee right afterwards and you will buy a grinder for your home. The best part is being able to adjust the grind size depending on the drink you are making. I currently have a manual adjustable hand burr grinder but am searching for an espresso machine with an attached grinder.

Try some simple hacks when you’re cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, or even just relaxing on the beach. You can find endless lists of life hacks online, but always use your best judgment as to whether a hack is both useful and safe. [Edit]Steps [Edit]Cooking and Food Prep Hacks Lay a wooden spoon over the top of a pot to prevent a boil-over. The foaming bubbles created by boiling water are filled with steam. If they touch something at a temperature below , the steam will condense (change back into a liquid) and break the surface tension of the bubbles.[1] A wooden spoon is the best choice because a plastic spoon might melt and a metal spoon will get very hot to the touch. Make Ramen Noodles in a coffee maker for a quick meal. Put the noodles in the carafe and add the recommended amount of water to the reservoir. Turn on the brewing cycle and leave the noodles in the dispensed hot water for the recommended time. Transfer them to a bowl and stir in the seasonings.[2] You can add the seasonings to the carafe as well, but this makes it hard to get the flavor of Ramen Noodle seasoning out of your coffee pot! Make there isn’t a used coffee filter in the machine before proceeding. You don’t need to add a clean filter. Reheat leftover pizza in a skillet to get a crispy crust. Place the skillet over medium heat and add a quick spritz of cooking spray or a few drops of cooking oil. Heat a slice of pizza in the pan for 2 minutes, then put the lid on and turn the heat to low for about 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted.[3] Add a few drops of water to the pan before putting on the lid to cook the top of the pizza a bit faster. Be careful, though, as any oil in the pan may splatter. Use a skirt hanger with clips as a space-saving cookbook holder. Use the 2 clips on the hanger to hold the cookbook open. Put the hanger’s hook over a nearby cupboard handle to create an instant and very useful cookbook holder![4] The open book will be at just the right height for easy reference, and it won’t take up valuable counter space. Remove stems from strawberries quickly with a thick straw. Insert the straw into the side opposite to the stem and press it up through the center of the strawberry. When you get all the way through to the top, the stem will pop right up and out![5] A sturdy plastic straw works well, but a reusable metal straw is even better. In either case, use a wider milkshake or smoothie straw if available. Use tongs to more easily squeeze all the juice from a lemon. Cut a lemon in half, then wedge one half between the tongs, cut side facing out. Squeeze the ends of the tongs that you usually use for picking up things to press out as much lemon juice as possible. Repeat with the other half.[6] Consider laying a fine mesh strainer over the bowl or pitcher you’re squeezing the juice into in order to catch the seeds. Use your cereal spoon to keep milk from splashing when you pour it. Add your cereal to the bowl, then lay your spoon upside down on top of it. Pour the milk slowly onto the underside of the spoon’s head. You’ll notice far less splashing than when you pour the milk directly onto the cereal.[7] Alternatively, add the milk to the bowl first, then the cereal! Remove the yolk from a cracked egg easily with a water bottle. Crack the egg into a bowl or dish, then grab a clean, empty plastic water bottle. Squeeze the bottle about halfway (not enough to crush it), place it right on top of the yolk, and release your squeeze. The yolk will be sucked up into the bottle![8] Pit cherries quickly with a straw and a bottle. Choose an empty glass or plastic bottle with a mouth that’s smaller than your cherries, so that you can place a cherry stem-side up on the bottle opening. Press straight down through the stem with a sturdy straw (metal is best), a skewer, or a chopstick. The pit will drop right into the bottle.[9] Dip your finger in water to remove egg shells from a cracked egg. Wash your hands and dry them off with a towel, then dip one finger into a bowl of warm water. Use your wet finger to press down on each egg shell piece and pick them out of your cracked egg one at a time. The water will make the shells gravitate toward your finger, making it super easy to get rid of all the shells.[10] Don’t forget to wash your hands when you’re done! [Edit]Food Service and Storage Hacks Chill a beverage quickly in the freezer with wet paper towels. Wet down 1-2 paper towel sheets, then squeeze out the excess water. Wrap the paper towels around a can or bottled drink and put it in the freezer for 15 minutes. The damp paper towels help chill the drink much more quickly.[11] Don’t forget about a glass bottle you put in the freezer—if the liquid freezes, the bottle may explode! Store mixed pancake batter conveniently in a plastic ketchup bottle. This is a great way to store extra batter in the fridge for up to 3 days, and it makes dispensing the batter easy! Just squeeze out the amount you need right onto the griddle when making pancakes.[12] Use a kitchen funnel to make it easier to pour the batter into the bottle. Or, find a plastic bottle with a slightly smaller mouth than the ketchup bottle. Cut off the bottom of this second bottle, place it upside down into the mouth of the ketchup bottle, and use it as a DIY funnel. Use a muffin tin to serve a range of condiments at a party. Add ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, salsa, mayonnaise, or whatever other condiments you need to the individual indentations in the muffin tin. This makes serving the condiments and cleaning up afterward a cinch![13] Cut clean slices of cheesecake and soft desserts with dental floss. Cut a length of unflavored dental floss and wrap the ends around your index fingers. Pull it taut and press it straight down through cheesecake, cinnamon rolls, fondant, jelly rolls, and so on.[14] Use the same process to cut through clay with a length of wire. Keep your packaged bread fresher longer with a plastic bottle top. Starting at the point where the cylinder starts to narrow toward the spout, cut the top section off of a clean, dry plastic drink bottle. Feed the open end of the bread bag up through the cut opening and out of the mouth of the bottle, then fold it down over the sides of the mouth. Screw on the bottle’s lid to make an airtight seal.[15] Use plastic lids as simple but effective coasters. Don't have a coaster on hand? A plastic lid from a mayonnaise jar or similar container can do the job! Just place your drink on top and you've got a neat coaster. [Edit]Clothing Hacks Make canvas shoes water-resistant by applying beeswax. Use a clean rag to spread the beeswax over the entire outer surface of the shoes, making sure not to miss any areas. Then, wave a hairdryer over the shoes until the wax melts and becomes invisible. Apply another coat of beeswax whenever you notice the water-resistant coating begin to falter.[16] Iron a dress shirt collar fast with a hair straightener iron. This is a quick fix that saves time versus getting out your iron and board. Just plug in the hair straightener, let it heat up, and clamp it over each side of your shirt collar for about 15 seconds. To play it safe, don’t do this while you’re wearing the shirt![17] This is a great hack if you’re going to wear a sweater over your dress shirt anyway—why bother ironing the whole thing? Use white wine to reduce the appearance of a red wine stain. If you splash some red wine on your white shirt, grab some white wine! Dampen a clean cloth in white wine and gently blot the red wine stain until it becomes less noticeable. It won’t remove the stain completely, but it does a surprisingly good job.[18] If you have a stain remover stick or wipes with you, use them—they work even better. If you left them at home, use them on the stain before washing the garment. Prevent lost socks by pinning pairs before washing and drying. Stop feeding single socks to the “dryer monster” by outwitting it! Simply secure each pair of socks together with a safety pin before putting them into the wash. Keep them pinned together when you transfer them to the dryer.[19] Replace any pins that start to show signs of rusting. [Edit]Housekeeping Hacks Screw a magazine holder onto the back of a cabinet door to hold a hairdryer. Choose a magazine/file holder made of plastic, wood, metal wire, or sturdy cardboard and secure it in place with 2-4 screws. Most standard hairdryers fit perfectly into this spot.[20] Alternatively, use several removable adhesive strips instead of screws. Use coat hooks instead of rods to hang towels in a small bathroom. These take up much less space, since each hook can hold 2 large towels. The towels may also dry faster than if you use towel rods that are stacked one in front of the next. Apply magnetic strips behind cabinet doors to store personal care items. Buy peel-and-stick magnetic strips, or use removable adhesive strips to secure the magnets in place. Use the magnetic strips to hold tweezers, bobby pins, cosmetic brushes, and other magnetic objects.[21] Check to see how many of your personal care items are magnetic before trying this. Buy a scrub brush attachment for your drill to clean tile and ceramic. Instead of relying on elbow grease alone to scrub a tub or toilet, let your drill do the hard work! Look for different types of scrub brush attachments where cleaning supplies are sold. Set the drill to its lowest speed first, then increase it as needed. Follow the brush attachment’s instructions carefully. Don’t use the attachment to clean fiberglass, laminate, wood, stone, or other surfaces unless the brush is specifically marketed for that purpose. Use a clean dustpan to fill a bucket that won’t fit under the sink. Place the bucket on the floor directly in front of the sink. Place the larger end of the dustpan under the faucet so that the pan’s handle is resting over the front edge of the sink. When you turn on the water it will flow through the channel in the handle, go over the edge, and fall like a waterfall into the bucket.[22] Have some towels handy the first few times you try this. It may take a bit of practice to get the placement and water flow just right. Paint your keys with nail polish to color-code them. This is a great hack if you have a bunch of similar-looking keys on your key ring. Gel nail polish adheres best to metal keys, but any type of polish will do.[23] Store your household cleaners conveniently in a shoe hanger. Hang or attach the shoe hanger to the back of a closet or pantry door, then fill the pockets with your cleaning bottles. Choose a shoe hanger with mesh or clear plastic pockets so you can easily differentiate the cleaning bottles.[24] If you have a hanging rod in the closet, get a shoe hanger with hooks. For safety, add a lock to the door if there are kids around. Try different home remedies to remove permanent marker. Different DIY removers may work better for different materials. Give the following a try: For fabric, try hand sanitizer. For your skin or for wood surfaces, try rubbing alcohol. For painted walls, try hairspray or toothpaste. For ceramic or glass, mix 1 part white toothpaste and 1 part baking soda. Soak a crusty paintbrush in vinegar for 30 minutes to ease cleaning. After 30 minutes, use a wire brush or paintbrush cleaner to remove the loosened paint. Then, wash the brush with soap and water, rinse it, and let it air dry.[25] If you heat the vinegar to nearly boiling in a pot on the stove, you can reduce the soaking time to 10 minutes. Reduce the odor of water-based paint with vanilla extract. When painting a room, stir in of vanilla extract per of paint. The vanilla will mask the unpleasant odor of the paint. Essential oils like peppermint work as well.[26] This hack doesn’t work on oil-based paint, since the vanilla extract or other essential oil creates a solution with the oils in the paint—which may negate the pleasant scent you’re aiming for or make the paint smell even worse. The oils aren’t soluble with water-based paint, though, so they remain separate and help mask the paint odor. [Edit]Childcare Hacks Use a rubber band to keep kids from locking a door. Loop the rubber band over one door knob, make a figure eight over the latch, then loop the free end of the rubber band over the other door knob. Choose a thick, sturdy rubber band that is stretched taut when positioned this way.[27] Make a smaller “laundry basket play tub” within your bathtub. Place a standard rectangular laundry basket into the tub as you fill it with water. Put your toddler or small child into the basket, along with their toys. When bathtime is done, just drain the tub and lift out the basket with all the toys inside![28] This is not a substitute for an infant bath basin. Use it only for kids who are big enough to bathe in a standard tub. Supervise children at all times while bathing. Create a child safety bead-bracelet with your phone number on it. Buy a container of colorful bracelet beads and let your child help you thread them onto the bracelet string. Pick out numbered beads and string them on so that they correspond to your phone number.[29] You might also want to spell out the child’s first name. A bracelet is no substitute for proper supervision of a child. Use pool noodles to help keep a kid from rolling out of bed. Lay a foam pool noodle along each long edge of the bed, right on top of the mattress. Tuck the fitted sheet over the mattress so that the noodles are held securely in place. The small humps created by the noodles will make it less likely that your child will roll off the edge of the bed.[30] Use this as a short-term measure for an occasional problem. Invest in proper bed rails if your child rolls out of bed frequently. Trace a kid’s feet on paper when you’re shoe shopping without them. Instead of having to guess whether a pair of shoes will fit, bring their tracing with you. Trace around both their feet, either barefoot or with socks on. If the shoes you’re looking at are larger (but not too much) than the traced outlines, the shoes will fit—at least for a few months![31] Use paper cupcake or muffin wrappers to catch drips from frozen treats. Poke the bottom of the wooden stick of your kid’s favorite frozen treat—like a Popsicle or ice cream bar—through the bottom of the paper wrapper. Slide the wrapper up to the base of the treat and let it catch all the inevitable drips![32] Paper wrappers with foil on the outside work best, but any paper wrapper will do. [Edit]Tech and Home Office Hacks Seal your tablet in a zip-close bag if you like to read in the tub. Use a clear, bag with a secure zip closure. Test the bag first by sealing a piece of paper inside and submerging it for 1 minute. If the paper is dry, your tablet should stay dry too![33] Play it safe and do your best to keep your tablet dry regardless. Don’t try to read underwater! Use springs from used pens to strengthen the ends of charger cables. Charger cables tend to kink, bend, and break right near the ends (where they plug into the wall or your device). To protect these sensitive areas, pull apart several old, dried up pens and pick out the springs inside. Wrap the springs around the ends of the cables to give them more protection while still letting them flex somewhat.[34] Organize cords at the edge of your desk with binder clips. This is a great hack if your desk is cluttered with several charger cables, printer cables, ethernet cables, and so on. Choose binder clips that are large enough to clip to the edge of the desk, but also small enough (if possible) to keep the head of each cable from falling through the binder clip opening.[35] If you can’t fit the head of a cord through the binder clip wires, squeeze the sides of each wire to remove them from the clip. Then, squeeze them again to put them back in place after you’ve pulled the head of the cord through. Organize cords using empty toilet paper tubes in a shoebox. For a smaller cord, stand a toilet paper tube up in the box and feed the cord down into the tube. For a larger cord, use the toilet paper tube as a sleeve and slide it over the cord once you’ve looped it around itself several times.[36] Stand your phone upright in a cup, glass, or mug to amplify the volume. If you tend to sleep through your alarm even when it’s set to high volume, give this hack a try. Put the phone’s speaker (which is usually at the bottom) into the bottom of the cup and get ready for a much louder sound![37] You can use this trick to amplify music, but it may take some trial and error to find a cup, glass, or mug that doesn’t distort the sound of your favorite tunes. Use a cassette tape case as a cheap but sturdy phone stand. Try this hack if you find some old cassette tapes (with their cases) in the attic. Open the case’s lid as far as it will go, then lay the case front-side down on your table or desk. The slot in the lid will hold your phone at a great viewing angle.[38] Some larger smartphones may not fit into the slot. [Edit]Miscellaneous Hacks Carry multiple plastic bags at once with a large carabiner clip. The problem with carrying several plastic shopping bags at once isn’t that they’re too heavy, but that the handles dig into your hands. Instead, buy a large carabiner clip at a hardware, outdoor, or sporting goods store. Clip both handles of each bag into the carabiner, then carry everything more comfortably by holding onto the carabiner.[39] Use snack chips as kindling to help start a fire. Light a loose pile of snack chips on fire, then slowly add wood to build up your campfire. Snack chips are made almost entirely of 2 components—hydrocarbons and fats—that burn readily, so you’ll be surprised how quickly and easily they go up in flames.[40] Cheesy tortilla chips (like Doritos) work great here, but any type of fried snack chip will do the job. Make sure not to eat all your kindling beforehand! Hide your valuables on the beach in an empty sunscreen bottle. Your best option is a bottle with a rounded rectangular shape and a large flip-top lid that also twists off. Clean and dry the bottle thoroughly, making sure to get rid of the oily residue on the inside. Talking about the processing of terminal wire and the production process steps, the electric bee optimization engineer believes that it can be divided into four parts: cutting wire, peeling, tinning and terminal crimping. The specific contents are as follows:

1.Cut line

The wire harness manufacturer first cuts the wire according to the size required by the process of the terminal wire with the automatic cutting machine equipment, and arranges the cut wire according to the regulations (for example, 50 pieces/tie) to the designated position, and affixes the product identification. The production process that flows to the next terminal line.

2. Peeling off the skin

The wire cut according to the size is installed according to the specification of the terminal wire, and the corresponding wire stripping machine equipment is installed, and the process of peeling, clamping, and cutting is adjusted according to the process requirement index of the terminal line. Adjust the size adjustment plate according to the length of the peeling, place the wire in the middle of the blade of the peeling machine, the wire head against the size adjustment plate, step on the foot to peel off, and then flow to the next terminal line production process.

3. Dip tin

Adjust the tin wire (300±20 °C) according to the temperature given on the SOP, remove the wire, and separate and align the core conductors. Dip the core conductor with flux.
