(from my WIP: The Stars Collide)

Trevor grabbed his water bottle from the drink holder and looked at Lainey.

“Looks like she’s got eyes for you,” he said in an undertone.

Lainey bit her lip and ducked down her head so Trevor couldn’t see her smile.

“She is rather flirty,” she hummed out, tapping her fingers on her legs to the beat of the song being played over the PA.

Trevor took a long sip of his water and patted Lainey’s shoulder.

“With both sides,” he replied, screwing the cap tighter on her bottle.

About twenty minutes later, Lainey watched in complete excitement as Frankie made a beautiful pass to Jonathan for a goal. She jumped up from her seat and let out a happy scream as Trevor danced in excitement next to her.

“Holy shit,” she yelled, bumping shoulders with Trevor, “that was a sexy pass!”

Trevor laughed and banged hard on the glass to try and get Frankie’s attention.

“I agree with you,” he called over to Lainey, “that was a beautiful pass.”

Frankie skated over to the bench, all smiles, and tossed a wink Lainey’s way.

“Whatcha think, girlie,” she yelled.

Lainey giggled and covered her mouth with her hand.

“It was a pretty amazing pass, Frankie,” she gushed, her hazel eyes glowing, “next you gotta get a goal and a fight.”

Frankie chuckled to herself and sat back down. Lainey gushing about her playing style made her heart warm and also endeared Lainey even more to her.

“Don’t you worry, girlie,” she mumbled as she fumbled for her water-bottle, “this entire game is for you.”

AHHHHHHHH, this is such a cute snippet!!! The small moments and the attempts at hiding their obvious interest in each other is so perfect!!!

I couldn't figure out if this was in response to something I posted or if you just wanted to share, but it's always cool to read other's work, so thank you for sharing 🤗

What people expect when I say I’m a writer: writing a whole novel

What I actually do: get into a fandom or come up with an original idea, go to sleep every night thinking of the story, make imaginary scenarios and Pinterest boards, make Spotify playlists, and finally sit down to write it out 2 months later only to get another idea and abandon the story. Repeat the cycle.
