Mage Princess

In the Labyrinth, they talk of gods.

They whisper between their fingers and sweeten their breath with the tales of titans of old who once stood so tall that a single breath would cause earth-tremors, their steps reshaping the ground trod beneath them. Their fingers were the tools that smoothed the mountains into points, shaped and carved the ridges and valleys in between. If you hike far enough, one woman claims, if you travel to a point where the oxygen is thin and your vision blacks, you can make out a partial print against the mountainside. You can run your own fingers along its length and still feel the titan’s warmth as if his palm were pressed right against yours.

The woman says, It is a thing of worship. It is a thing of devotion.

In the Labyrinth, they ask you to make your body anew before the King of the High Hills. They say that you are alive because you must suffer for the life and love of the Lord, that you must open your body and let him lick along your flesh so that he may taste the endlessness of his perpetual reign.

In the Labyrinth, there is no escape from his touch.

“You have a heavy burden upon you,” the headmaster was saying, teeth and eyes all a glitter under the amber cast candles. “I am not unsympathetic to the arduous path ahead of you—but please understand that this suffering must be experienced for the longevity of the king, for the beautiful life ahead of him. Only he is the one who can shed mortality and raise to the gods, because he is the only one strong enough, courageous enough, to count the cost of living forever. You must succeed where others have failed. You, this class, this is our last chance to mend what has been made broken. You must. You must.”

The Mouths of Elysium is a dark-academia fantasy created with Twine where your choices matter to the story. You live inside the Labyrinth, a maze that hates to become known with walls and paths that change every hour. The center of the Labyrinth sits a university that has been there since the beginning of time; its only purpose is to recruit students who can solve the puzzle of life, who can create an elixir that would allow the King of the High Hills to live past the length of forever. Failure means a fate worse than death.

You are one of those students.

Althea Callaghan - You know her in death. She has been the taste of rot against your tongue, the anger and hurt in your palms. Not only processing the outcome of the election, but reevaluating my faith in humanity, not to mention the 51% of my fellow Americans who I gave FAR too much credit to thinking they'd do the right thing.

But the world spins on, even if (as a friend said to me today) it feels like it should all come to screeching halt so we can get a bereavement period, and now, a few days on, I want to try and get back to the stuff that brings me joy, like writing.

Before he could bring himself to try a second time, the phone started to ring. Eddie prayed it was Robin calling to check in. Even knowing it was futile, he reached for the handset, stomping his feet angrily when his fingers touched nothing but air.   Goddamnit! Think, Munson, think!  What had been different last night when he’d managed to touch Steve for almost a full minute?  Well, he’d been annoyed at first, then a little turned on if he was honest. Obviously his concern for Steve’s well-being had taken center stage once he’d gotten a look at how badly hurt he still was, but wounded or not a shirtless Steve Harrington was a fucking sight to see. Eddie would challenge anyone—gay, straight, or otherwise—to stand in his presence and be unaffected. But surely horny ghost magic could not possibly be a thing. No, he’d been worried. Like, really fucking worried. The same way he felt moments ago when he couldn’t get Steve to wake. He hadn’t thought about it, he’d just acted.

Labyrinth - a WIP intro

2000 years ago, the gods expended their power to protect the peoples of Khanthra from the Blight. To protect them while they slumbered, the people built the Labyrinth around their resting places. The Guardians took it upon themselves to watch over this maze, to ensure the safety of their gods. Now, the call has come through to three of the Guardians - come into the Labyrinth, wake your gods. The world has need of their strength once more; the Blight returns. Soraya, Captain of the Guardians, is not surprised by this Call. She is surprised that the two fellow Guardians who received it as well are the Prince of Khanthra himself - only ever a Guardian in honorary title - and his sword protector. To keep the three of them alive through the traps and trials of the Labyrinth might just cost her the peaceful retirement she always dreamed of.

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday!

I read through your list of WIPs and was intrigued by Labyrinth! What's the maze like? What's it made out of and smell like? Where is it located?

Happy WBW (three days later, I'm sorry).

So the maze has evolved quite a bit since its inception. It's now a full warehouse with different rooms loaded with challenges and traps (more like Saw VI if you're familiar with the series). Each room has its own appearance and smell, depending on the challenge within.

Some of the rooms I've decided on for sure are:

The Dark Room: A maze of narrow boards across open air leading from one side of the room to the other. The people crossing the maze have to be completely silent or the lights go out. Smells like dust and stale air.

The Swimming Pool: Competitors race across a swimming pool. There are hungry crocodiles in the water. Smells like chlorine and blood.

Other rooms I'm contemplating are rooms with an electrified floor, a room filled with snakes, and a room where the competitors have to crawl through broken glass.

It's located in the outskirts of the city of New Eden, a place that shows up in a lot of my stories.

Judar Rambles

Judar is extremely important and personal to me, I feel this as someone who comes from a similar cultural background to him as well, Judar is EA/CN inspired and so his background and backstory context really makes me feel for him... Speaking personally, as someone who is Viet/SEA diaspora.

Like, ahhh, this character makes me so emotional... He makes me want to cry (in a good way)

Emotional tears, cuz this chara is so healing and cathartic for me.

It's not necessary for me to be able to relate to my faves imo. I pick my fave charas based on who makes the writing more entertaining with their existence and on my fave character tropes in terms of design and writing (they're usually antagonists, morally gray/evil charas, and/or opposing forces).

But with some charas I definitely gravitate towards characters who are easier for me to understand and mildly relate to though (ie. Judar (Magi), Hakuryuu (Magi), Suwon (AkaYona), Keishuk (AkaYona))

I first became obsessed with Kuroha at 12, and Judar at 20.

Truly, my character tastes are as ancient as time LMFAO

I actually started the sketch as Kuroha (KagePro) actually. It doesn't help that they have similar~ish hairstyles and expression vibes LMAO, but then the eyes looked more like Judar cuz of the rings, so I changed the sketch to Judar. I think it fits more this way.

Smug edgy asshole character, cunty Sen-core bastard cat, OK with murder...

Black cat theme, black/white (monochrome) colour scheme/design, black/white/red/yellow colours, both smug evil assholes with black hair, they're both antagonists, morally questionable and/or morally bankrupt, have smug expression vibes, are unhinged, violent and bloodthirsty...

And ofc, I was a goner!

Kuroha has red eyes when using his Eye Ability too...

KHR and Magi's Anniversary

In terms of characters, story, writing, themes, and art, Magi is my favourite manga ever. For me, Katekyo Hitman Reborn (KHR) and Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic (Magi) forever hold a special place in my heart as my forever no. 1 favourite series.

I might as well ramble about KHR and Magi then~~

I'd say both KHR and Magi are very important to me because KHR was the reason why I started drawing (almost) every day in the first place and Amano's style was the foundation/main inspiration for my art style... And it still shows in my art style. While Magi is the manga I fell in love with for its story, art, writing, and characters.

Amano and Ohtaka both have insanely good inking styles that I admire... I love how intricate and detailed Amano's inking is, and Ohtaka's inking is super gorgeous and sharp, and really stands out from other art styles too.

I expect DunMeshi to join that list and become very important to me!
