Figuring out some Eraklyon stuff rn

Info on some fashion and cultural notes as well as general outline for where Eraklyon is situationally at the start of my rewrite:)

Tl;dr tho: it’s a hellscape lol

Traditionally feminine clothes have rounder gems.

Traditionally masculine clothes have more angular cut gems.

Red is the color of power so the Emperor must always wear it.

Asymmetry is big in style right now and so are pearls. Jewel and pastel tones are the norm for high fashion and the wealthy with most of the nobility sticking only to jewel tones.

The orange gem present in Erendor’s crown and outfit is their most common jewel on their planet.

Lots of golden and coppery color ores and unique rock types there.

The green gem is cut into an octagon to represent the entire Magical Realm, green for the concept of life energy of other beings. Only the Emperor and next in line for the throne may wear green gems in that cut.

The orange color from their gem is claimed to be a sign The Great Dragon blessed them, and they are above the concept of life, that they are a power all their own. The diamond shape is to represent their rigidity in customs and categorization which they claim has lead them to their (once) great power and expanse over everything, the green octagon included as a sign that they reach to and claim power over all in the 8 realms, the rulers of a mighty empire that will one day encompass everything.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t work out and they only have direct rule of Dyamond and whatever planet I’m having Samara be from (might be Dyamond too, am unsure rn) and have an excellent alliance with Solaria through its Imperialist faction. That’s about it though. They’re considered a Pillar of The Magical Realm because of their industrial prowess but even that is being diminished in its qualifications as magical culture as a whole is redefining what that looks like and means and as other planets are finding more effective or enjoysnle methods for things in ways that aren’t relevant at all to how Eraklyon would go about it. Eraklyon is also trying to push production on mining up through overworking their people to an insane degree and demanding things get done faster and as a result are producing lower quality product. Their whole socioeconomic culture right now is just Late Stage Capitalist Hell Scape.

To top it off, even back when they were still an actively growing empire, Domino was actually trying to get them to stop with using The Great Dragon in the name of their conquests since Domino was starting to work on reparations for the horrors they’d committed in the past right before it fell.

After it’s fall, Eraklyon used that event as a propaganda to say it was proof they were meant to rule after all and that they would be the ones to show The Magical World what needed to be done. Insert an increase in power and claims over planets for about 200 years, and then a steady decline of power followed by a huge dip in the last 150 years.

Eraklyon is a grossly Patriarchal society that holds a lot of views that are directly anti egalitarian in every way it can be in a culture.

A man (very rigid binary structure too with sex and gender being treated as the same thing. Think our current irl world basically. Like our world, the people are getting more and more sick of it, especially since pretty much all the rest of The Magical Realm is like “that’s a really stupid thing to reinforce so harshly and punish people who don’t fit that construct.” More backlash and pushing for it to change from the public, which isn’t vibing with the elites since the government is already in such a precarious position in terms of its power) must rule. A bride must be taken from off planet as a way to strengthen their Empire.

Green is a color of conquest due to its association with The Magical Realm as a whole, so the Empress is always adorned in it since she is a conquest in and of itself. A selection of gems are also chosen by the council of the royal court that they deem suitable for the bride to choose as her identifier when she becomes Empress. Samara was only given green ones to choose from due to the desperate need to try and reinforce strength and power through conquest, which once again she as the bride is a symbol of. Their Empire is basically no more. They are grasping at straws and the bride being used as a propaganda piece is already the norm so it’s whatever they might as well ramp it up. They also tote her red hair as a way to show that The Dragon still favors them, sending her their way, the fire of It present and on display, and even redder than that of the last Queen of Domino. Samara is proof that they can conquer anything, even The Great Dragon, if the people remain loyal to The Crown and The Empire.

Along with The Eraklyon Empire being in ruin, empires themself are very few and overall wildly shunned by the general public, Eraklyon and Solaria being some of the last notable ones, and even then just barely one at all, still using the term as a way to pretend they are still formidable and far reaching in their power.

CW/TW: brief and vague talk of physical disability and loss of pregnancy

I think queen Samara insisted for Sky to attend Red Fountain. Of course Sky begged to go, but although Erendor in his face acts like he did it as a favor to HIM, that he did as SKY asked so Sky should be grateful ("When I agreed to send you to military academy what was the one thing I told you?!") he actually did it because Samara talked some sense into him. There was not been a king in Eraklyon from their dynasty that did not attend Red Fountain. Generally, *all* the male children that come from the king receive their education there, unless they are sent away to study religious science, which is extremely rare and reserved for third or fourth spare, or those (not the oldest, though) who are suffering from a physical handicap so severe they would not be able to handle a battlefield in a traditional manner. In this case, it wouldn't matter if they are a tech wizz like Timmy that could prove invaluable to Eraklyoni military- it is all about appearances. Erendor was about to break this tradition because the sons of harpy that terrorist organization that was after Sky was, well, after Sky. Getting a clear hit at Erendor would be perfect, but they would happily settle at the second best (two of Sky's tasters have died in service before he turned 11) because the royal couple cannot have more children. It is unknown within whom of the two the "fault" lies, but the fact remains that Queen Samara never had another child after him- there are rumors that she was pregnant for a short while and suffered a loss after a bio terror attack, but as most of attacks on the royal family, the one around that time has also been kept closely under wraps. Anyways, when she heard the plan all hell broke loose and they fought for hours, during which she called him a coward among other things, and asked if he wanted his son to be mocked as the only military illiterate ruler in Eraklyoni history. Eventually, he caved in, and of course, Brandon going with him was not even discussed, it was just a given. In general, I imagine Sky's mom to be a very cold woman, but she always showed Brandon more respect and grace than the king did. Erendor doesn't have much appreciation for Brandon's service, honestly he's mostly annoyed that his position is necessary and gives the boy a cold shoulder because of it (yay bully the child Erendor there you go) but Samara feels that the boy is most likely to die young protecting her child and as such deserves some sort of due respect. Even as she's the one actively putting him in that situation, she's grateful. It's messed up. Samara, pushing tiny Brandon as a meat shield in front of her son: thank you so so much- stay put- yes there you go, thank youuuuuuuuuuu

While I was just minding my own business, I suddenly had an idea. And that idea is to write the origin of Sky's pet dog, Lady.

Nobody knows where Lady is from or how Sky got her. Soo here I am to write it for y'all to read. Time to share my thoughts!

Lady was once a nameless puppy in the planet Lynphea. She was under the care of Queen Rachel, often kept in a fancy menagerie in the palace. There were other animals in the menagerie such as peacocks, magiwolves, foxes, serpents, and many more. The animals kept are both domestic and exotic, and Lady was one of those animals.

The pup was unhappy and bored in the life of fake deluxe. Although everything in the menagerie was lavish and managed, Lady was aware she was living in the same cage for her entire life. The queen noticed this, and so did her little daughter, Princess Krystal.

Queen Rachel was concerned for the puppy, wondering what would help live its life better. Suddenly, Krystal (she was at the age of eleven here) suggested to give her as a present to Prince Sky of Erakylon. It was three days before his twelfth birthday, and the queen was struggling in finding a present for the prince. Queen Rachel agrees with her daughter's idea, thanking her afterwards.

When the twentieth of March arrived, the puppy was groomed and bathed, ready to be given to Sky. The pup was very confused, wondering why she was inside a dog carrier. It adds when she was riding a carriage towards the unknown destination. The pup was feeling confusion, terror, and a small amount of hope.

Finally, the royals of Lynphea arrived in Erakylon and proudly gifted the birthday boy the puppy. King Erendor was not very pleased, on the other hand, Queen Samara was delighted. And of course, Sky was ecstatic when he received Lady as his pet. In first sight, he immediately promised to raise her in the best care.

Sky and Lady's first interactions were not the best. The puppy was rather disobedient and suspicious of Sky, thinking he will keep her captive in the life of luxury. However, Sky was determined to befriend the puppy.

The small rivalry between the two continued for five months. Lady began trusting Sky when they played together in the gardens of the Erakylon palace. The puppy always wanted to run around and play like that, and Sky was the very first person who helped her achieve the dream. Because of this, Lady became comfortable around Sky. Ever since, they became best friends.

When Lady started to trust the prince, she also learned how to trust the servants and Sky's parents. She was now willing in learning tricks and such as well, even to the point of developing mannerisms that are similar to a lady's. Because of this, the family (Yes, King Erendor finally came to liking her after a while) adored the puppy and named her Lady in her first birthday.

The more they spent time together, the deeper the connection they had as best friends. Even when Brandon became the prince's new best friend and squire, the dog never left her owner.

Sky and Lady were always by each other's side through the thick and thin. Whenever Lady was ill, Sky would effort in taking care of her. Whenever Sky was experiencing pressure from his family, Lady would comfort him. She would even bark at whoever approaches the crying prince. The first time Lady saw Sky cry made her vow to protect him at all cost.

The main reason why Lady only obeys Sky's commands is because she saw the amount of patience and effort he did in befriending her, which she strongly believes only he was worthy of her obedience. Therefore, she would only listen to her owner. Lady can play with anybody around. But whenever it comes to simple commands, only Sky holds the power.

No matter in life, regardless of whatever planet or parallel world they are in, Sky and Lady will always be the best of friends.

Obsessed with the implications of the Winx Episode where Diaspro is kidnapped by the power rangers.

1. God I feel for Diaspro. Her boyfriend cheated on her and she can't understand why he doesn't like her. She's trained her whole life for the implication that will get her a prince and true love. And then... He cheats on her. With a commoner??? Who attacked her for no (okay it was Sky's fault) reason. That probably undermined her world view. This either puts into perspective her turn to Valor and the Trix, or just makes me pissed at the writers for not redeeming her/giving her a different lover.

2. The High Tech Ninjas are now on Earth... Do they work for or against Elon Musk (or whatever Italian equivalent there is)? That's the important question.

3. King Erendor's comment about how it may be a good thing that Sky saves Diaspro and possibly agree to get engaged to her. There's no way he doesn't know about Bloom being the Princess of Domino. Either Sky has told his parents, or his bestie Oritel told them about their red headed daughter. (I also like to imagine that Blooms behavior reminds him of either Oritel or Marion, adds more trauma). Anyways, is his want for Sky to marry Diaspro instead from typical royal classism??? Or his own trauma from ratting out his bestie???

LIFE

"Not even your squad is appropriate. Have you spoken to Saladin about it? One is untitled and the other an insult" Sky knew to keep quiet when his father went on one of his rants, listing everything he deemed wrong with his heir that day, but curiosity got better of him.

"Why is Riven an insult?" he couldn't help but ask. Sure, dude's been a total dick since the Day of the Rose, but he knew his father didn't care enough to know that, or even deem the status of his friendships important.

"You even ask! They made a commoner into a dragonlord. It's an insult to the noble life itself" the King snapped. "I'm not alone in thinking... But no matter" he trailed off bitterly, but Sky knew why he shut up. To even think of killing a dragonlord so another could claim their dragon would be a treason against the international peace convention- violent seizure of weapons of mass destruction would be considered an aggression against everyone; the other kingdoms would unite against them before Riven's body even cooled. Not even Quartz would stay in fold!

"You don't know about the life" he blurted, causing his mother to lower her cutlery. "Sky-"

"No, really, you don't" what fueled him? Erendor's disdain for his estranged friend? Callous approach to Eraklyon's stability? Or pure arrogance on the one thing Sky knew more than him?

"Syrax didn't hatch with you. You couldn't claim Vermithor. You don't know the dragonlife, or what it means to be a dragonlord. Kings can lose their crowns, dragonlords can never lose what they are. I can't lose what I am. Riven and Brandon understand that better than you ever will"

He waited patiently for Erendor to walk over and hit him. As the king sat back down, Samara gestured to a servant to put some more food on Sky's plate.

FRIENDSHIP

"Riven"

"What was that, Sky?" Bloom asked, but Sky just shook his head.

"Nothing, I just... Have a bad feeling" he explained poorly. He didn't know what it was exactly- one moment he was listening to Salandin and Faragonda brief them on the mission, the other there was harsh wind in his face, like he was falling from a great height and suddenly. And something in his bones told him that he jumped.

From the following days of battle and loss, what haunted Sky the most were the few hours of worry between the vision and seeing Riven alive again.

REGRET

"I love you" he said, and she wanted to scream. He said easily, nearly in passing, and the sincerity cut like paper, unexpected and burning.

He truly meant it. It wasn't news to her, but that day it hurt for the exact same reason she usually lived for it. Because it was honest and true, so comfortable, a fact of life. It wasn't because of the spell; she could affect mind, not heart, and this came from the soul. She stole what he would have freely given.

There she stood in his varsity, having a quiet mental breakdown while he stood with his hands in his pockets watching the still water of Lake Rocalucce. His expression was unreadable as it often was, but for the first time, she refrained from helping herself to his mind.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked, and couldn't hear the answer over the desperate mantra in her head.

So this is going to be really interesting.

For debate: the closet thing that I have is this super messy, unpolished snippet with no prose whatsoever. Completely un-formatted too. It's from a fic that I may or may not even get to but have a concept for; Azula basically shuts down completely and enters this semi-catatonic unfeeling state.

Hunger. Love. In a way they are the same emotion. She has never felt things in the ways that people tell her she should.  Slash! Blast! The fire reflects on his blade before it deflects. He charges at her as she charges at him. Resentment. Desire. These can also sometimes become one and the same. 

Sometimes she doesn’t know where one ends and the other begins.

For Kindness: Untitled fic concept where Icy is hit with the kindness spell in (4kids) season 2 and it doesn't wear off.

It floods in like jingling sleigh bells, like laughter and the fluid song of the ice. Like peppermint kisses on rosy cheeks and hands stuffed into mittens. And it is overwhelming, physically nauseating as claws of light magic slice her darkness to ribbons. She tries to conjure up her favorite images but she finds that her focus lasping…redirecting. Mental images of faeries pinned by the wings to the floor are spliced with faeries skipping and laughing. A wanna be witch sobbing over books that Stormy had swatted out of her arms is interrupted by a hand, that Icy only faintly recognizes as her own, helping her up. The entirety of Magix blanketed in an eternal snow is overtaken by a cozy winter in the city with open fires and sticks heavy with marshmallows. Icy grits her teeth. The spell is seeping its way in, snuffing the malice and plucking evil inclinations right out of her as she tries fruitlessly to snatch them back.

I wanna say first that I really, really love your re-write of Winx Club! You have done an amazing job.

And I don't know if I just missed that detail or it wasn't mentioned (yet), but I wanna ask.. Where is Samara? Because I haven't really seen her anywhere in the re-write. And you would think as a mother she would be there for her son (but then again, with how shitty his father is...).

Tbh I’ve written Samara as incredibly absent, she really doesn’t care about anyone, and I mentioned at some point that she started kinda hating on Sky when he cut her off from spending too much money on her own stuff so at this point she’s pretty much ignoring his son cause he won’t do what she wants in an attempt to get him to break… which Sky will not

But luckily! He’s got Brandon’s family, who pretty much adopted him in all but the legal sense since he was like 15, so he does have a support system
