The Destruction of Jotunn and the Curse of Domino
At dusk of the seventh day of the Unicorn Moon the Ancestral Witches sent Mandragora, the Dark Witch of Chaos to destroy the realm of snow and ice.
She only had to find the Great Dragon’s Spark weapon of Jotunn. And all that was left to do, was cast a single, yet powerful dark magic spell.
First, she let the citizens see in their minds, how the ground beneath their feet melted away into the ocean. Once she knew with certainty, everyone shared her vision, she let it become reality and used the weapon’s Spark of the Great Dragon to destroy the Magical Core.
All of that to make sure one young girl, who was only at the age of two years that fateful day, would want to become a powerful Witch. The girl in question – Ísey Skadis.
At the same time the Dark Witch’s creation, Valtor the Homunculus, went into the castle of Domino, all while the citizens of the realm fought against the Army of Darkness.
Valtor himself first fought the Nymph of Andros and did manage to kill her. But he had come for the Dragon Flame, which he would have to take from the Nymph of Domino. She however, knew he was after her powers and sent them away to another planet, within her baby sister. She herself stayed in Domino, fighting to her end.
The Homunculus put a curse onto the Magical Core of the realm. Everyone who had a connection to it and was within the realm, petrified. This would ensure, no one from Domino could come back home, without turning to stone themselves.
The baby sister who survived grew up on Earth, not knowing about the power she held within.

It’s so interesting to think ab how Dominos demise is perceived in the magic dimension bc it’s not like it’s been hundreds of years since the system was basically wiped
Like the reality is that it’s only been 16 years (based on blooms return to the magic universe) and that’s nothing in the context of history !
Oh definitely!
Though I will admit I haven't decided if Dominos fall occurred centuries ago or if it did only happen recently. Both have there pro's and con's.
For the first option, it would mean that the magical community has moved on and re-established itself without its most powerful system. It would mean that Bloom feels like an outcast for growing up on Earth as well as coming from a long-lost system. In this case, many people, while acknowledging the loss either don't remember the war fought or view it as some type of myth. It would also make Dominos reintegration much harder, when the system is revived.
For option two, the war would be fresh, with many people scared of their neighbors and the anti-witch sentiment would be rife throughout Magix. This would make the Trix's rise to power that much more frightening for everybody. It would mean that armies are either in full swing or only just being disbanded, and the economical climate would also be suffering. It could bring an interesting side plot of financial differences between nobles and normal people.
So many options!

When did the fall of Domino take place?
16 years ago? When Bloom was born and shortly after sent to earth? No, I would say it was centuries ago. And I will sum up some events of season 1 and tell you why.
1x2 Dufour talking about her youth:
Tumblr media
To see how Dufour speaks for centuries since she was young, it still makes it logical that the fall of Domino also happened centuries ago and Daphne somehow managed to send Bloom through space and time back then. Dufour does not look as young as Bloom & Co, but definitely younger than Faragonda and Griffin. Which implies that the time where Faragonda and the Company of Light were still young was even longer ago. This leads me to the conclusion that the fight against Valtor, the ancestral witches and the fall of Domino may have taken place about a millennium ago. Which explains why nobody now knows that Domino was actually an influential and beautiful planet anymore.
1x6 Bloom finding out about the Dragon and Faragonda giving more hints:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a kind of creation story of the magical dimension. Nevertheless, Flora knows nothing about it and no one seems to know the dragon and the dragon flame itself anymore. Another indication that the fall of Domino and the loss of the Dragon Flame must be much further back.
Faragonda goes on:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think one could assume that even girls like Stella, who aren’t very good at school, have knowledge about the most recent happenings in history. If Domino had been attacked 16 years ago, she would know and so would the rest of the Winx. The way Faragonda tells the story implies that the events took place long, long, long ago. And like normal people might have no clue about certain events in the middle ages, the young fairies do not know of the fall of Domino, which implies, that Domino fell centuries ago and Bloom must have traveled through time somehow and ended up with Mike and Vanessa in our timeline.
There are more hints in the next episodes, like Daphne being a historic nymph and so on, which I will add by reblogs.

I refuse to believe that Bloom’s birth name is Bloom. Her birth parents have names as interesting as Oritel and Miriam/Marion and her sister is named Daphne. Admittedly the women have way simpler names than men (I tried googling Oritel name origins and came out with nothing) but I like to think Bloom at birth had a name like Alexandra or Alessia which means protector or defender and they called her “Alex” or “Lex” for short. (I personally prefer Alessia cause Alexandra sounds really generic to me ckpdsdjcpf).
It would be interesting to have especially if the show bothered to fully address how awkward and odd their relationship should be given they were unable to be present for the first 18 years of Bloom’s life. In the reunion it can still be cute, Daphne would still introduce her as her sister and under the name Bloom but it doesn’t really click to Marion and Oritel cause they’re so happy to see their beloved Lex is alive and grew up to be so powerful.
Plus Bloom having a different name as a baby would make no one seeming to connect the dots of who Bloom is until the Trix reveal it more sensible because like I refuse to believe no one connected the dots on Bloom’s identity when she A.) is the spitting image of Marion and B.) LITERALLY HAS THE LOST PRINCESS’ NAME
Like I get saying the brand new fairy who claims to be from Earth being the lost princess of a ruined kingdom is a stretch but given its a magical universe with infinite possibilities, it’s not completely insane to believe.

Do you have any more character design passes for the other royal families of Winx? I love what you did with the Eraklyon royal family and I can't lie, hearing your design process is always fun
Hi!! I’m doing some updates on my domino designs now actually, should show up here sometime in the next weeks. I’m glad it’s interesting, I’m gonna definitely do more of my rambly process posts here.
In the meantime have some devastating Daphne and baby Bloom sister content @napalmtears

In this au, Stella and Flora's pixies are already bonded to them. They're both a little older than the other winx, so i figured it made sense
Also i thought it was dumb that their outfits were all the same like stella would not allow that

I wonder if Domino/Sparx hadn't fallen and Bloom had actually grown up in the magical dimension, would she and Sky have been forced into an arranged marriage? And how would it have affected their relationship. How different would things be? Would they actually end up married one day?

Winx Families: Bloom!
You can find my Bloom redesign here! Her Winx redesign is here!
Just like in canon, Bloom has two sets of parents and her older sister Daphne. Both her Earth family and her Dominon family get along very well and work together to be one blended unit.
Mike and Vanessa Hernandez-Carter are Bloom's adoptive parents. Vanessa runs her own flower shop called The Garden of Eden. Mike used to be a full-time firefighter, but he has since retired and is now working in the shop with Vanessa. They're college sweethearts, and Bloom considers them to be relationship goals.
They're both Bloom's number 1 supporters and have taken finding out their daughter is a fairy princess in relative stride. They love all the girls and regularly host sleepovers for the club.
King and Queen Oritel and Marion WyDrak of Domino are Bloom's biological parents. Marion Fairy of Fury is Queen Regnant of the planet as well as the head of Domino's Council of Guardian Fairies. She's also a holder of the Dragon Flame. Oritel is a wizard and served in the royal military before he married and became king. They were 3700 at the time of Domino's disappearance.
They met at age 20 when Marion snuck out of a ball her parents were hosting to have a moment of peace. Oritel found her in the gardens reading a book of poetry. It was coincidently his favorite poet, and they spent the evening reading to each other.
They are a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the battlefield. Marion is famous through the universe for her sharp tongue. Oritel, while more introverted, is well versed in sarcasm and is not afraid to use it. Privately, they are both huge dorks. They love puzzles, poetry, and studying mythology (a trait Bloom inherited).
Daphne Wydrak is Bloom's older sister. She is the Crown Princess of Domino, Guardian Fairy of Domino, Nymph of Sparks, and a holder of the Dragon Flame. She was 200 years old during Domino's disappearance.
Daphne is a magical prodigy, being accepted into Alfea at only 14. Faragonda recognized her potential and began mentoring her. She was the youngest fairy to earn the title of Nymph, doing so at the age of 100. Her magical prowness is what led the ancestral witches to focus on Domino.
Daphne herself is a rather awkward person, having to live up both to her mother's legacy as well as the accolades she's earned. She loves journaling her spare time and has amassed quite the collection of journals. She's aro ace and is very happy to just have a cat as her companion.

I get where people are coming from when they say Diaspro in Winx lost the plot for the sake of being turned into a minor villain and that's all once Valtor enabled her to do what she did in S3, but I feel like that was a reasonable narrative choice. It's only a love potion at that point (while I could go on all day about the ethics of love potions, of course, a later season has her straight up trying to do direct murder). She's a noble, guards will do her dirty work, and I understand that she would feel like getting revenge on Bloom while getting back together with Sky. She was promised a position — romantic AND political — she nearly had and then it was taken from under her by a random fairy who wasn't even "supposed" to be in the running. I don't think what she did was nice, but it makes sense for the story and for her character for her to want to reclaim her position in the way she did. Sky's love was an accessory, in part, to her political ascension, and thus he is again rendered accessory and accomplice by the love spell. And, sending guards after threats seems to be the thing to do in the magical universe if you're a disgruntled noble, so it's probably not unfamiliar for Diaspro to have seen occur before or want to do. It's not a uniquely rotten response any more than Radius' behaviour towards the monster (who, he didn't know it, was Stella). If we fault her for this action rather than only the intention behind it, we need to examine how the worlds in Winx Club deal with threats to their monarchs in general, which sounds interesting but I frankly don't have time for tonight. Diaspro did wrong, but she didn't do uniquely wrong there, and Eraklyon has the punitive security structures in place to have enabled that.
Diaspro's later appearances seem to flatten her motives and the symbolism behind why her relationship with Sky was important and what she does about it (who cares what Diaspro's political aims are and how her status might reflect how she deals with problems, the audience needs to see Bloom thrown into fire I guess), but I feel like seasons 4-8 weren't really that good anyway, so I can't even claim this as a fault of the writers doing Diaspro specifically wrong instead of them just doing the whole show wrong at that point. It might be related, and it might be a coincidence, but a lot of the writing choices seemed to become more flat to me right around when the art shifted to that lifeless godawful Flash simulacrum of S1-3's art.
Also like... idk but if some long-haired hottie wizard in a sick coat and contemplative eyeshadow told me he could help me get my promised chance at both romantic and political success back, I'd at least hear him out, yknow, see what he had to say (<- don't trust me I simp for Valtor)
#rubia speaks#winx club#winx#diaspro#winx diaspro#not supporting women's wrongs but parsing them in context#actually you know what. love u bloom but i have a diaspro apologism streak in me#love potion BAD AWFUL ROTTEN but the guards? we need to interrogate the king about that one i think#and make ur guards pass a basic test on the obvious visual difference between a fairy and a witch idk :/#is diaspro entitled to sky's love and the political position of being his wife? no. does it narratively make sense for her to be mad? yeah#is her position of having been given the expectation of a certain status and result and having it 'undermined' a compelling one? yeah!#i think there's a lot to say about expectation vs reality and the burden of unfulfilled unsealed commitments in Diaspro's situation#and the societal structures in Eraklyon that allow her to act outside of due process because she's big mad as long as the king is cool w he#how the nobles protect their own class and interests even when Sky is acting unusual from VALTOR'S FUCKING MAGIC DAMN#now if she could just drop the magical coercion and the classism and the witch slander..........#interesting how that arc makes Bloom almost an underdog when... babe.... ur a Princess.#Sky's not out here marrying a commoner he's courting a princess of another world#.... sociopolitical views of Domino by other worlds? Bloom acting vs not acting the part of how a princess acts on Eraklyon?#Bloom as a Lesser Princess because of the condition of Domino?#Association with the Winx and Alfea in general making of her a symbolic commoner?#much to consider about Bloom's 'underdog' role compared to Diaspro in the Eraklyon Engagement Era

Some more stuff for the worlds in the magic retold!
This is gonna be a long post btw!!
I think this is just gonna be for Solaria and Domino for now cause it’s getting too big for me to put all the planets on here!
——
Solaria’s capital city is called Sunburst (this is where the Palace is too!)
But the Seleneites call their main city Moonshine city (more temples are here but they have a smaller palace type home for the guardian of the Seleneites)
Solaria is basically one big landscape with a few smaller islands surrounding it
Think beautiful blue seas, sandy beaches and a whole lot of vineyards (Solaria is technically a big supplier of alcohol)
There are a whole lot of coastal towns in Solaria and some of them attract a whole lot of tourists from Magix and other planets
For the Seleneites like I said there are more temples, they worship the moon and celebrate the gods bit more then the sun part of Solaria does
There was tension between the two factions of Solaria because they did things completely differently from each other
Solarian’s worshipped the sun and mostly worked through the day and slept during the night
Seleneites worshipped the moon and worked through the night and slept during the day
So there were complications when Radius’s father wanted to bring the two together (he and his wife Raye were both pure solarian btw)
So when Radius decides to marry Luna it comes as a huge shock to both factions as it had never happened before
Stella was technically the first Solselene child since there had been no recorded birth of one before her
Solaria is home to a lot of performers
Like beast tamers (More from Domino)
Fire breathers (these hail mostly from Domino though)
Acrobats
Dancers (they also hail from Andros)
Magicians (although these are quite scarce now)
There are lots of circuses and just random performances going on around Solaria at times
Especially during the festival’s!
————-
Domino next!
It’s capital city is called Sparx (yeah cause I’m not changing domino to Sparx no way)
The people of Domino live quite close to the five lakes and it means there are several bridges connecting towns and cities
It’s also quite barren in terms of greenery due to the dragons so they have to import a lot of stuff
Domino being the home of the dragons does mean you also have areas that are bare ground or down in caves so they don’t hurt the people
Most in Domino have skills with communicating with dragons and magical creatures due to their being a lot of them on Domino
The royal family have guardian dragons
Marion’s father had a dragon named Alfor whilst her dragon is named Elowyn
She’s very good at dragon riding because of this (sometimes she’ll teach the new guards in case they need new soldiers to fly)
So yeah there’s dragon riding for the royal family and for those lucky enough to connect with a dragon (also the royal guard have dragons or Pegasi)
Like I said Dominon’s connect with creatures easily (like how Linphean’s connect with plants easily) due to the fact that the dragons brought more animals when they landed
Which means these people had to make sure they lived in harmony so they didn’t taint the relationship with the dragons
So it’s often you’ll see a family being close with wolves or reptiles due to this, for example Oritel actually bonded with a panther cub named Fell and he grew up with him!
Domino has festival’s like the dragon dance or the masque ball of autumn
Dragon dance -
The Royals will basically put on a show with their dragons, showing the bond they have
Masque ball of autumn -
Basically a chance for everyone no matter what status to be equal and celebrate the death of autumn so they are well rested for the hard work they’ll have to face in winter!
(It’s also a chance for romance to bloom 👀)
I’m also gonna quickly note about the five lakes they are the lakes the og dragons landed in before they settled on Domino!
Yeah Domino is quite a strong planet! But it welcomes connections with the others to keep peace!

Domino timeline rewrite
Edit: after thinking about it more, I thought of ways to make it make more sense.
This is my rewrite for the Domino wonky timeline. I just need to advise on whether it makes sense and there aren't any plotholes.
Bloom is the second princess of Domino. Her parents were King Oritel and Queen Marion, with an older sister named Daphne, the current Keeper of the Dragon Flame. When she was born, the Dragon Flame chose her as its next guardian. She was raised for a few months on Domino when the Three Ancestral Witches tried to steal the Dragon Flame. Daphne fought them but the Three Witches combined their powers to curse her. If she were to use her Dragon powers, they would turn against her.
After realizing she wasn't going to defeat them, she grabbed Bloom and hid their presence inside the palaces hidden chambers that only the royal family new of.
Thinking that Daphne had somehow gotten away with Bloom, they froze the kingdom in ice. This ice reached Daphne and Bloom in the hidden chamber and froze them. For the next 300 years, the Dragon Flame slowly melted the ice. With whatever magic she had left in her weakened state, she transfered the Dragon Flame to Bloom and sent her to Earth. By doing so, this activated the curse, and she sacrificed her life. Bloom was discovered by Mike, a firefighter, in a house fire. He brought her home to his wife, Vanessa, and they adopted her. They raised for 16 years before she discovered she was a fairy.

Queen in Waiting Daphne Adara Alexia Bizeveron of Domino, Former Guardian Fairy of the Inferno, Former Keeper of the Dragon Flame and The Seventh Nymph of Magix
Daphne is the eldest daughter of King Oritel Henri Bizeveron II and Queen Marion Sophie Bizeveron and the older sister to Bloom Peters.  Daphne was raised during an unstable period of the Magical Dimension.  The Ancestral Witches were rising to power and looking to gain footing wherever they could.  This led to a much more warrior society, not just for Domino, but throughout the Dimension.  While Dominio had always been offensively strong, Daphne was taught from age eight how to wield both physical and magical weaponry.  On top of her elite training Daphne was seen to be a child prodigy, with the Dragon Flame manifesting itself at age four.
Daphne, unlike her younger sister, did not attend Alfea full time, only attending necessary classes and often returning to Domino for strategy briefings, offensive and defensive battle magic training.  Due to her accelerated learning schedule and natural ability, she attained her Enchantix form at age fifteen. Not long after gaining her Enchantix form, the Ancestral Witches began attacking in earnest across the Dimension, specially seeking out the Dragon Flame. Over the next few years Daphne spent months at a time on the front line with other powerful magic users to capture or destroy the Ancestral Witches.
It was her prowess in battle that bought the attention of the Nymphs of Magix.  The Nymphs of Magix are nine of the most powerful magic users in the Magical Dimension and are often called the Rulers of Fate.  During a particular dangerous battle the Seventh Nymph, Eleanora, was stripped of her magic and killed by the Dark Wizard Valtor, and Daphne was deemed both stable and powerful enough to take her position as the Seventh Nymph.  During the Final Battle of Domino, all nine nymphs were killed and stripped of their magic by the Ancestral Witches, apart from Daphne.
During the Final Battle, Daphne stripped the Dragon Flame from herself and gave it to her new born sister Bloom, using her final magic to create a portal to send Bloom to Terra. Daphne was later drained of her magic and left for dead once Domino was destroyed, however, she was able to connect her life force to Blooms through a long-forgotten blood spell shown to her by the Nymphs.  Because of her spirit still being alive, Daphne was the last and the Supreme Nymph of Magix.
Daphne is a serious and strong willed fairy, who will put duty before anything else.  Her war time attitude never truly fades and this often causes clashes with those around her in modern Magix.  She is often calm, however, is prone to outbursts when she believes people are not listening to her.  Due to her high standing and extremely powerful magical core, Daphne can sometimes view herself as superior to others and can be condescending.  However, she is ultimately kind hearted and extremely loyal to those who have earned her trust.

Has anyone considered how difficult its going to be to restore Domino ? Jesus
Imagine being encased in rock for the past 1500+ years to wake up and find out that you transported many MANY years into the future and that the world has advanced majorly technologically. That would be a cause of a LOT of mental breakdowns.

This fandom loves to give Bloom and the Domino population draconic features but I've had a different thought. What if all Dominians can develop dragon features at will BUT most don't because it's considered in poor taste and extremely frowned upon?
The Great Dragon is sacred and any kind of imitation is considered sacrilegious. Sure, ordinary dragons exist but a) they can also be considered sacred creatures on Domino (we haven't seen anyone from Domino ride a dragon like the Specialists and Eraklyans do) that should not be imitated and b) the Great Dragon chose Domino as her resting place so she is the ancestor of all Dominians and while her essence is inside all of them (the royal family most notably), to want to recreate yourself in her image is considered too greedy as she is revered as a god and no one else should be allowed to be elevated to that kind of status.
