Sabbatical Transitions
It has been an incredible change from the warmth, and sun of Mexico to the clear blue frozen skies of Ontario. We came home to the beginning of a cold snap in Ontario, with temperatures around -16 degrees and much colder with the windchill.
This transition has had an impact.
Increased Introspection: The shorter days and colder temperatures naturally lead to more time spent indoors. This has created space for introspection, contemplation, and a deeper connection with my inner world.
Appreciation for Warmth: Experiencing the cold heightens my appreciation for warmth, both physical and metaphorical. I find myself more grateful for the warmth of human connection, a cozy fire, and a sunny day.
Embracing Resilience: Adapting to this cold Canadian climate requires resilience and the ability to find joy and beauty even in challenging conditions. My prayer is that this translates to greater resilience in other areas of my life.
Finding Beauty in the Cold: Discovering the unique beauty of winter – snow-covered landscapes, the crisp air, the stars shining brighter – the blue skies being even bluer, has been a deeply spiritual experience.
Please enjoy some winter pictures from Port Weller.

please don’t let me grow cold like this winter sky.
please let me keep my warmth like this fire crackling below us.
please don’t let me lose my appetite again.
please let me stay warm and whole, let me hear songs and be strong enough to dance.
please,
please don’t let me go back.
