My golly it was a jam packed weekend with 3 events, and only just starting to organise the photos! Big art love to the Art Play-ers! who came and followed their curiosity through uncovering their own secrets in the materials from the suitcases and wriggling real natural clay between their toes. It was wonderful to observe on one session how kids used balloons for putting objects in and making sounds bouncing in the air, or at another point had drawn on faces with the chalk pens on the light table. Simple objects igniting their imaginations! THIS is why it’s child-led. Slow, playful Sensory Art Play for parent & child!  It is so incredible and such a privelidge watching the non-verbal communication between toddlers and their parents, simply through poking clay. I was noticing the child working out how it can be lifted with the craft stick stuck into it.  I observed babies and toddlers drawing with fingers and craft sticks on the colour changing light box, exploring how lines changed overlaid, rubbing out and drawing, repeating back and forth, squiggles, dots, dashes. Lots of investigation, discovering, learning through play, connecting with our little humans. So delighted to have begun our April- June Term at Raum Schwalbe! Don't interrupt me, I'm busy finding out by myself! It's easy to jump in and show them isn't it? Learning to trust your child is a big topic for us, we encourage parents to see their child as their teacher, learning to experience the world through their eyes. We begin by observing them. Letting their child be free to follow their own curiosity, and as adults, enjoying watching in their creative play, asking them questions as they go.
