New laws coming into effect as of the New Year!
In Idaho and Louisiana, bans on gender affirming care for minors will come into effect. West Virginia also has a ban, but it allows access with parental consent and a medical diagnosis. Meanwhile, in Maryland, gender affirming care will be covered by Medicaid and Hawaii is requiring that new marriage certificates be issued on request to people who change their gender and is replacing "mother" and "father" with "birthing parent" and "non-birthing parent" in state law. In Colorado, buildings that are at least partly owned by government entities will be required to have at least one gender-neutral bathroom on any floor that has public restrooms.
Washington state will make new or renewing insurance plans will no longer be allowed to charge deductibles or copays for abortions. California will protect both abortion and gender affirming care from out-of-state litigation.
Indiana will make it easier for parents to challenge books in school libraries while Illinois will block state funding to public libraries that ban or restrict books.
In Illinois, police will no longer be able to pull over drivers because of something hanging from their rear-view mirrors (this is jokingly being referred to as the "fuzzy dice" law). Also, Illinois will be banning high-powered rifles and high-capacity magazines. It is also allowing victims of deepfake pornography to sue.
Minnesota has a new Red Flag law that will allow police to take guns away from people deemed to be an imminent threat. Colorado is banning ghost guns. Connecticut is requiring online dating operators to adopt policies to prevent harassment. North Carolina is requiring porn sites to confirm that users are 18 years old by using commercial databases and allows parents to sue if their kids access porn.
Twenty-two states will increase their minimum wage. If you live in AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, ME, ML, MI, MN, MO, MT, NE, NJ, NY, OH, RI, SD, VT, WA, or DC, minimum wage will be going up. In addition to these, NV and OR will increase the minimum wage in July and FL will see an increase at the end of September.
In federal news, as of the New Year, your employer may be able to make a matching contribution into your 401(k) retirement account when you make student loan payments.
Finally, the FAFSA is getting shorter and easier to fill out. This should mean a lot more low-income borrowers getting federal assistance.
Here's my sources which have more details on all of these if you're interested in checking them out:

BOTR - Day 5 - June 19, 2024
Rain, rain, go away.
The wind whipped all night last night. I don’t think it rained at all but I’m not positive. We both slept pretty soundly in the cool temps. However, shortly after we awoke at around 6:30-ish, the rain started. On the positive side, it forced us to get on with our day. Unfortunately, it prevented Diane from birding to find some of the birds we heard the evening before.
Our drive was generally uneventful. We did get rain occasionally but nothing that slowed us down like the day before. Also, while we had constant wind, it was more of a tailwind. As a result, we made excellent time compared to other days.
Western Kansas is generally farmland and prairie for as far as the eye can see. Eastern Colorado is all prairie. The colors that dominate the space are green, gold, and brown. There are few man-made structures beyond the highway. Except for the abundance of windmills in the last 50 or so mile of Kansas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nothing but farmland…
As we approached Denver we could see snow on the mountains through the clouds. As we got closer we could see the traffic associated with any big city. Approaching Denver from the northeast, we needed to make a stop south of town for a new windshield wiper to replace one that took a beating in the hail storm. Our hotel was to the northwest in Longmont so we got to see the burbs without seeing the Denver city center. It’s amazing how big the metro area is and how much new construction is going on. Regardless, it has all the beauty of the foothills, red rocks, open spaces, and lots of outdoor recreation.

The Rockies in the distance.

Gotta love the Colorado DOT’s sense of humor…Camp in a state park not the fast lane.
After checking into our room and grabbing showers, we ate at a local brewery. Diane enjoyed the heck out of her blood orange wheat beer and a piece of grilled salmon. I went for the fish and chips. Nothing like ocean fishes in the middle of the country!
Tumblr media
Pretty skies near Denver!
Back in our hotel we tried to stay up to watch the sun set over the mountains. We didn’t make it.
Sleep, sleep!

Delaying your windshield repair can cause you to pay double. Read this
Have you got your car windshield cracked due to an accident or for any other reason? A cracked windshield can be really dangerous as a windshield is one of the major safety equipment present in a vehicle and any loophole in that makes you prone to risks such as road accidents, reduced visibility, open to external factors such as sunlight, water dust, and many more.
Getting a windshield crack repair Peyton Colorado becomes mandatory as soon as it breaks because driving with a broken or cracked windshield is quite dangerous. How is a broken windshield dangerous?
When your windshield is cracked, it's important to take action. A cracked windshield is dangerous because it allows wind and rain to enter your car. This can cause water to flood your car and make it difficult to drive. Additionally, a cracked windshield can lead to other safety problems. Disadvantages of a broken windshield
There are many disadvantages to having a broken windshield. First and foremost, a broken windshield is an obstruction to your vision. This can lead to dangerous driving conditions, as you may not be able to see hazards in front of you. Additionally, a broken windshield can also lead to decreased airflow into your car.

hey, if requests are open i was wondering if you could write something i’ve been thinking about for a while now
flip zimmerman, and a rookie (with a massive crush on flip) are in his truck, driving back from a job pretty far from the station in a complete white out blizzard. it’s too risky to keep driving because all you can see is white, so they have to pull over and wait the storm out. because they’re pretty far from the station, and don’t know if they’ll have enough gas to keep the truck running for the duration of the storm AND drive to back to the station, they have to turn the truck off while degrees are progressively dropping. eventually after a while of flip & the rookie try to preserve warmth individually, they notice the storm is somehow getting worse and beating down against the truck, they awkwardly hop in the back and huddle under a blanket to try to stay warm. a couple hours of tight cuddling goes by, resulting in a heated (sorry) make out.
sorry if this is a lot, thanks
A/N: It's finally done. I'm so sorry it took so long. I struggled with writing it but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Pairing: Flip Zimmerman x F! Reader
Warnings: 18 + for language, making out, and implied smut.
Tumblr media
The truck’s interior was silent, but not the uncomfortable sort of silence; in fact, it was relaxing if one could be relaxed while being next to the most handsome man alive. Actually, forget everything you said or thought; this ride was anything but relaxing. Your hands flex every couple of minutes against the denim of your jeans. The snow pelts the windshield like a scene from Star Trek, right when they are about to warp into a crisis. You could relate because your whole body was in crisis mode from being so close to Detective Flip Zimmerman.
It was rough being a rookie on the force, but it was even more difficult being a woman. Flip and the boys had taken you under their wing almost immediately, and you hated to be the stereotype but you feel hopelessly head over heels for him. The handsome, brooding detective, and the rookie, feel like something out of those dime store novels your best friend is always mailing you after she’s finished reading them.
“Storms getting worse,” he sighs loudly beside you, “we might need to find a place to pull over, wait it out.” He fiddles his hand with the radio, but all the station’s playback is static. “Keep your eyes open for somewhere to turn off.”
“Sure,” you whisper, finally something to occupy your mind. But when another thirty minutes pass, the truck almost crawling with the limited visibility, Flip turns the signal and pulls off to the shoulder.
“We’re pretty rural out here,” he leans forward, trying to see out the windshield. Working back and forth at a furious pace, the wipers do little to alleviate the snow. “I think we should turn off the truck and wait it out. I got a couple of extra blankets in the back, bundle up; it’s gonna get a little cold.”
“You just carry around blankets in your truck?”
He glances at you like you’ve grown a second head, “did you forget we’re in Colorado, rookie? It snows here; best to be prepared; write that down in your little journal.” You frown but pull out the said journal from your pocket; you started carrying it around about a month after joining, keeping notes and different tips and tricks from the job. The guys at the station loved to tease you about it, but you didn’t care. One day you would remember something because it was written down in your little journal and they would be sitting ducks.
You replace the cap on your pen and tuck it back into your pocket, zipping up your jacket the rest of the way. You turn and are struck when you notice Flip looking at you, a strange look on his face. “What?” you mumble, “You gonna tease me about my journal some more?”
He shakes his head and glances down with a smile, “no, no, I actually think it’s smart. I just worry about the day when you won’t need it anymore.”
“Why is that?” you huff, “because I won’t be a rookie anymore?”
“No,” he chuckles and glances out the driver’s side window, “because then I can’t watch you, get all pissed about your little book. You’re cute when you’re mad.” You say nothing, overwhelmed with feelings that Detective Flip Zimmerman just teased you and called you cute in the same breath. “What are you thinking?” he zips up his coat and turns to look at you, “I can almost see the smoke churning out your ears, so tell me. What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?”
“I thought you didn’t like me? And now you’ve called me cute and beautiful while simultaneously insulting me at the same time. It’s confusing.”
He sits in silence for another ten minutes, almost marinating over your words. The temperature in the truck steadily dropped with each tick of his watch. You wrap the plaid blanket tighter around your shoulders, your teeth beginning to chatter, but you refuse to complain, not wanting to give the guys at the station any more ammo to use against you. “Come here,” he mumbles, lifting his blanket, and you turn your head with a sharp shake. “Rookie, I can hear your teeth chattering for here; get over here before you freeze to death.”
You sigh, unbuckling your seat belt and scooting across to his side of the truck; you let out a squeal when he lifts you and places you in his lap, legs across the center console. He tucks your head beneath his chin and wraps his blanket around the tool of you. He’s so warm, and you can’t help but move closer, trying to burrow yourself in that warmth.
Your hips rock, trying to get closer, and he lets out a muffled groan, “stop moving, rookie.”
“I’m sorry,” you whisper, freezing.
“Captain would kill me, I let anything happen to you, especially after I…” he mumbles off the ending, and you lift your head off his chest. Swallowing down your gasp when you realize how close he is, his nose almost brushing against your own.
You take a minute to compose yourself, “after you what?”
“Nothing,” he replies quickly, looking back out the window, “just forget it.”
“No,” your hand trembles, but you reach up and gently touch his cheek, turning him back to you, “tell me what you were going to say.”
His eyes soften, and he raises a hand to keep yours pressed to his cheek, “I asked the Captain to put us together.”
“Why?”
“Because,” he sighs, “because I like you. You’re smart, beautiful, and funny. I’ve been trying to think of a way to ask you out for weeks, but I didn’t want you to think…I didn’t want you to think that I don’t respect you. Being a woman on the force, it isn’t easy. I’ve seen the guys flirt with you all the time, and it makes my blood fucking boil. Because you are so much more than a gorgeous woman in a uniform. You’re a police officer, a damn promising detective…”
You cut off his rambling with the lips pressed softly to his own. His nose brushes against your cheek and he groans, tugging you closer. You pull back, to lick your lips and he pulls you back, his tongue tangling with your own swallowing your gasp, “Flip,” you whimper, and he groans deeply, your hips swirling on his lap.
“I-I shouldn’t,” he pulls back, panting, his forehead pressed to your own.
“Yes you should,” you nod, “because I want you too, I want you so damn much Flip I feel like I’m going to explode.” You run your fingers through his soft black curls, his eyes widen watching you, you whisper, “I want you, Flip. I’ve always wanted you.” It doesn’t take much convincing till the truck’s glass is steaming, his hands so big are everywhere, whispers of praise and love tumbling from his lips like a waterfall. You’re both so distracted you don’t even notice the bright red and blue lights pull up behind you.
You yelp when there comes a sharp knock at the window, the lights flashing through the interior cab bringing the both of you back to earth. You quickly button up your uniform and try to straighten your hair going to move off his lap when Flip grabs your hips, keeping you still. He bends forward, biting the tip of your nose, with a smile, “I got this.”
He rolls down the window and puts an elbow out, pulling you flush against his chest when the chill slips into the truck. “What seems to be the trouble, officer?”
You hear a chuckle and groan when you recognize the voice of Flip’s partner, Ron. “Well, it would seem my partner and the rookie never made it to their destination. Captain sent me out to look for them. You wouldn’t happen to notice a grumpy bastard wearing plaid with dark black hair and a gorgeous young woman around here, would you?”
You glance up at Flip and see the smile on his face, soft and loving, before he turns back to Ron, “I’ve seen a gorgeous woman but not the grumpy bastard, but I’ll be sure to keep an eye out. Maybe if you see them, you can call a tow truck and leave ‘em be for a few more hours?”
“I’m concerned they may freeze to death out in this storm,” Ron replies, playing along, “but I will radio for that tow truck just in case I come across them. Not sure the driver will find anything but a couple of frozen bodies.”
Flip chuckles, brushing his knuckles against your cheek, “I think we got plenty of ways to keep warm. Don’t you think, sweetheart?” All you can do is nod and smile, and when he tucks you back against his chest, his lips ghosting over the top of your head, you feel warmer already.

Chapter 15 of the 16th Annual KP Fannies Awards
Chapter 15 – Misadventures in Sketchville, Part V
(4:22pm)
"All right!" Ron exclaimed, still driving the van. "We've got good news and bad news."
Kim sighed, and as Ron glanced over, he noted her overall buckles were still unfastened.
"The good news is, the skunks have been returned to Dr. Hall's adoption center," Ron continued.
"Yeah…" Kim said, relieved still about what was obvious despite the lingering scent. "And the bad news?"
"The van took a beating while doing so!"
Kim cringed. The van had sustained…quite a bit of damage, from the skunk-induced roller-coaster ride through the bumpy field. The hood was peppered with small dents, the windshield had suffered several cracks, the right side of the van bore several metal scrapes, and the right-side mirror was barely hanging on by a few wires. The window to the front passenger side was stuck open and the grille was gone, as was the left side of the front bumper. The left front headlight was dangling, and most notably, the left side sliding door was…missing. Two the hubcaps were gone, and the rear bumper was on the verge of falling off. The breeze generated from the speed of the vehicle on the highway blew through Alexa's blonde hair. And on top of it all, despite the breeze, the van still smelled of skunk.
Kim made a mental note to thank Wade for the titanium seatbelts and upgraded shocks among other improvements that had kept the family safe while the exterior of the old van had suffered.
The only thing that had been hurt was their pride in driving the ramshackle eighteen year-old minivan to a Bueno Nacho out in the middle of nowhere. They were outside of Lamar now, traveling south on US 387.
"I just wish you hadn't hit the curb and knocked out five parking meters and three trash cans when we entered town," Kim muttered.
"KPS, I was trying to avoid hitting a squirrel," Ron said, pointing it out in the rearview. "And in my defense, that sliding door fell down on its own after we dropped the skunks off."
"Fair enough. I mean, it's not like we're driving a fancy sports car or something like that," Kim said. "This van is on borrowed time anyway."
"Let's just give it one last ride before your mom dumps it off to the junkyard," Ron said.
You read my mind, Ron!" Kim snickered as they continued to drive the van.
When they got to the midway point between Lamar and Sketchville, all of Kim's and Ron's communication devices and Justin's and Alexa's tablets lost the Internet signal. Though Kim did save the PDF to the hard drive on her tablet, so she was still able to access it.
"Well...we're back in the early 1990s..." Ron remarked.
"Or back to the Stone Age," Kim muttered.
(5:51pm)
After five o'clock and over 290 miles of driving and confusing directions, the Possible-Stoppables finally made it to Sketchville, which was about twenty miles from the Colorado-Kansas state border to the east.
A rusted metal sign along the highway greeted them, with the letters I and E missing from "Welcome" word and the C missing from "Sketchville."
"We_com_ to Sket_hville. Pop 323"
It surprised Kim that this was still legible, as red graffiti covered the "Sketch" and the word "Shit" was graffitied over it instead. Another graffiti message said, "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here."
The van was further suffering as the asphalt ran out and dirt roads replaced them. Overgrown brush, dead trees, abandoned motor homes, and rusted cars littered the fields and roadsides as they entered the excuse for a town. They passed the local post office bearing the ZIP code of 81070, but it was far from what one would expect from a post office. Instead of a building, the "office" was just a run-down mobile home with a makeshift metal pole flying the US flag.
As they drove on a few blocks they passed the "statue" of the town's founder, William K. Sketch. It was far from an art piece, being made of scrap metal, pipes, car parts and duct tape, with a dirty, laminated photo of Mr. Sketch on top.
"Well...we made it... Sketchville, Colorado," Ron announced weakly seeing the deplorable state of the place.
"The village of the damned! Ron, this town is officially point-four square miles of bad road," Kim said with a grimace as they crept down main street.
As the rolled past a familiar shop they made eye contact with two men—the mechanics/sheriffs that had "repaired" the Stoppable-mobile three years ago. They recognized the passengers of the broken-down van and offered evil, greedy grins and waved.
Kim could only shudder at the sight of those men laughing at her. Rufus shuddered as well, and Kim fumbled to re-fasten her overalls.
"Kim, I know you hate this town as much as I do, but we need to get that message to the Bueno Nacho here," Ron insisted. "The sun is about to set!"
"I have to wonder why Bueno Nacho has a location in one of the most suspicious areas of the US..." Kim groaned. One of her hurriedly fastened overall buckles popped off, dropping the corner of the bib.
(5:55PM)
It didn't take long to locate the Sketchville Bueno Nacho, which was barely more than a hovel with a small dining room only fit for two families. The drive-through window was an old single-pane house window that slid up, held open by a book.
"Ron, we can't take the kids in there!" Kim remarked. "That place is falling apart!"
"KPS...we have to deliver Henry's message! We can't let the last open Bueno Nacho get shut down because they don't know about the edict!" Ron exclaimed, almost frantic about the beloved fast food restaurant.
"Okay…we'll do this together," Kim said. "Even though I do not like this town one...darn bit!" She checked her language that time.
"I forgot there's no internet signal out here… Did you save the governor's edict, Kim?" Ron asked his wife as he parked the van. It was the only vehicle in the dusty lot.
"Of course, Ron. I always come prepared!" Kim said, distracted by her appearance and the pervading scent of skunk.
"Rufus, I want you to momentarily stay with the kids," Ron instructed the mole-rat.
Rufus hopped onto Justin's head and peered around like a sentry, saluting and nodding in all seriousness.
"Ugh, we look terrible…" Kim muttered.
Kim and Ron got out of the van. But as they both did so, the pin to Ron's Smarty-Mart belt came undone and the right strap to Kim's overalls slipped off. They had barely reached the front of the van when their pants fell down in unison. Kim's Pandaroo boxers were revealed while Ron had revealed pink boxers with hearts. Both parents' faces were blushing red.
Justin and Alexa laughed and chanted inside the van, while Rufus just shook his head, face buried in his paws.
"We see London, we see France! We see Mommy and Daddy's underpants!"
"Ron...let's pick up our pants before presenting the governor's edict," Kim groaned.
"Don't have to tell me twice, KP!"
Kim reattached the straps of her CB overalls to the bib as best she could, and Ron, his belt seeming damaged, held up his pants as they entered into the Bueno Nacho.
The inside of the Bueno Nacho left everything to be desired. The push bar on the door wiggled. One of the windows was broken and had cardboard duct taped over the gaping hole. The whole interior was about as small as the smallest gas station convenience store with two card tables with folding chairs serving as the seats. One table held a sign apologizing for a recent theft of one of the chairs. The floor was filthy, and one of the two light fixtures was without a bulb. The wallpaper was peeling off, and flies were buzzing around the restrooms and the kitchen. The tables and counter had a heavy layer of grime on their surfaces. The cash register was chained to the counter to avoid theft, and the lights to the wall menus were flickering incessantly.
It was enough to make any county health inspector faint to the floor.
Despite all this, there were three cooks on duty and a manager.
"Buenos días, Señor and Señora! How may I help you today?"
"Well...first of all," Kim proclaimed as she put down her tablet displaying the governor's edict, "you're gonna have to close down the restaurant!"
The manager was stunned.
"How come?"
"The TEVID-20 pandemic has shut down virtually everything," Ron explained. "The governor said that all indoor dining has been banned for the next three weeks. You're pretty much the last Colorado Bueno Nacho to be open."
"Well, then you're in luck. You'll be the last customers to come here," the manager replied. "Though…most people use the drive-thru."
"Fitting enough," Ron said before turning to his wife. "KPS, can you and Rufus get the kids out of the van?"
"I suppose…" came Kim's reply before she briefly left the restaurant and gathered the rest of the family to come back inside.
"Now...as this will be the last Bueno Nacho meal for awhile..." Ron said, "let's make it count. We would like two nacos, grande-sized, extra Diablo Sauce, one chimurrito, one taco salad with thousand island dressing, and two Lil' Niños meals as well with mini-nacos."
"Coming right up, sir!" the manager said before turning to the cooks who would make the meal for the Possible-Stoppable family.
(Seven minutes later)
The whole family managed to sit down at the left table, which was the least dirty of the two tables in the restaurant. Ron was slowly savoring his naco.
"So, how do you think we're gonna handle this, KPS?" he asked his wife. "This whole thing about working from home for the next three weeks?"
"Just like we normally do with every other sitch, Ron," Kim replied after eating a bite of her salad. The left buckle to her overalls came off once again. "One day at a time!"
"I cannot remember any time since we've been married...or since we've been here on Earth...that we've had to deal with a pandemic before," Ron replied.
"Maybe it's this place, but…I've got a funny feeling that we're going to wake up in a strange new world tomorrow," Kim said with a sigh.
Ron reached across the table and clasped Kim's hand.
"Kim, remember what we said in our wedding vows! 'For better or for worse!' Pandemic or no pandemic, I will still love you no matter what. And we can get through anything!"
Kim smiled softly. She held Ron's hand tighter across the grime-covered table.
"Ron-ness and all, I totally love you too!" she said. "Even though we may not currently be in the best of sitches right now…we can get through it together. Like the ingredients of a perfect naco."
This made Ron smile, especially when he saw Kim's right overall strap come off the bib again. She winked at him.
"KPS, the warmth in my heart right now is not heartburn from the Diablo Sauce!"
They leaned forward, lips puckered, but Justin interrupted their romantic moment.
"Ewww...they're sharing cooties again!"
Kim scolded him teasingly. "Justin...how many times do I have to tell you not to interrupt Mommy and Daddy when they are sharing a romantic moment."
(Nine minutes later)
"You know...that was a satisfying meal!" Kim exclaimed, patting her stomach. She had finally securely re-attached the straps to the overalls, the constant falling off bothering her.
Rufus was also patting his pink stomach, seated in Alexa's lap. He wouldn't touch the filthy table.
"I'm pretty full too, KPS!" Ron said and then heard his stomach rumble. "And that's pretty much the signal that I have to use the facilities!"
"Same, but…mucho problemo, Ron!" Kim groaned, pointing to the state of the Sketchville Bueno Nacho bathrooms with the swarm of flies buzzing around the door. "There is no way that we can use those bathrooms."
After a moment of thought, Kim approached the counter to speak to the manager.
"Sir, are there any other public bathrooms in Sketchville?"
The manager frowned. "You can either try the garage that we have in town..."
Kim quickly shook her head sideways, indicating a "no," as she recalled again the South Dakota trip.
"...Or you can try the post office! There's only one!"
Kim looked at the manager with suspicion and returned to the table and informed Ron of their options. The post office was quickly decided upon as the pit stop and the family took their leftovers back to the van.
"Ron, I don't know about this..."
Ron dismissed his wife's concerns.
"Oh, come on, Kim! How bad can the bathroom be?"
(Ten minutes later)
The Sketchville post office bathroom was covered ceiling to floor in roaches. The faucets were leaky, the floor was covered in litter, graffiti was everywhere, the mirror was broken, and there were dead rats stuck in the two "good" toilets. The others contained a "mess," to put it mildly, sprouting from the old porcelain bowls as if they were fountains of brown from too long being backed up.
The family cringed in horror and Rufus shrieked in terror. The bathroom was worse than all of the foes Kim and Ron had faced, combined.
"THAT IS SO WRONGSICK! This is even worse than Camp Wannaweep!" Ron exclaimed, snatching up Justin as he spun to leave. Kim wasn't far behind with Alexa in her arms.
"That is the gorchiest bathroom I have ever seen!" Kim remarked, feeling sick to her stomach from the sight. "I've used porta-potties at Oh Boyz concerts that were cleaner than this!"
"I am not going to pee-pee in there!" Justin cried. "It's yucky!"
"Same!" Alexa agreed.
Ron mercifully closed the bathroom door as they fled back to the van.
Unfortunately, the entire family were feeling the effects of what, though had tasted normal, they now realized was very questionable food. The need to find a bathroom was becoming urgent for each family member.
"So what are we gonna do? We can't just go and do our 'business' anywhere in this town!" Kim asked, looking for answers.
"Looks like I may have to improvise!" Ron exclaimed, shifting his mood deliberately.
"Seriously, Ron?" Kim questioned. Alexa folded her arms and put on an incredulous expression to match her mother's.
"Note serious face, KPS!" Ron grinned, echoing his own words from freshman year and the time he defeated Drakken on that fateful Junior Prom night.
"Ron, please don't do anything stupid!" Kim implored him.
"Don't worry, KPS! The Ron-man will find a way to do his 'business!'" Ron said with a grin.
(15 more minutes later)
"It was an emergencyyy!" Ron's wail of excuse was lost on the wind as the entire family were chased down main street by the townspeople of Sketchville armed with clubs, pipes, and baseball bats. Ron held Alexa and Kim held Justin, running as fast as they could to find where they'd left the van that sadly, fit right in with the rest of the town and thus was harder to spot. Ron desperately held onto his pants with one hand and Kim's overalls were about to fall off once again.
Rufus was atop Ron's shoulder, looking back and warning of the gaining mob.
"Of all places! Why did you have to relieve yourself behind the statue of the town's founder?" Kim shouted at her husband.
"It was an emergency!" Ron exclaimed, defending his actions. "That food was not up to normal Bueno Nacho standards! And it's not like that statue is made of 24-carat gold or something! Besides, where did you go? And the kids?"
Kim's face reddened and she changed the subject.
"We have to get out of here before they tar and feather us!" Kim exclaimed at the latest awful sitch the journey had gotten them into.
"Whoa!" Ron said as he stumbled, hurriedly setting Alexa down just before he tripped on his pants. Kim set Justin down to help him up, but as he struggled she tripped over him, losing her overalls again.
Kim groaned loudly as they struggled now in a heap, their boxers bared to the public once again.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Alexa exclaimed. "I'm scared!"
"Then we'll have no choice but to abandon our pants!" Ron said as he discarded his pants.
"Ron! I'm stuck!" Kim exclaimed, pointing to the straps of the downed CB overalls stuck on barbed wire.
"No time, KPS! Abandon the ovies and let's move!" Ron insisted as the crowd was closing in on them.
Kim pushed off her shoes and abandoned her overalls. She slung her purse strap over her arm and picked up Justin again, as Ron had already grabbed Alexa and was running again.
She and Ron ran towards the dilapidated van with its missing sliding door. They hurriedly belted the kids into their seats, the strong scent of skunk hitting them again even with their clothing still being saturated. Kim and Ron got into the driver's and passenger's seats, respectively, and Kim had the engine roaring before her seatbelt was even fastened. The van sped away from the town, finally losing its rear bumper in the process, as the angry mob shouted after them in the dust cloud they left behind.
(One hour later)
The wind from the missing sliding door was blowing through everyone's hair as Kim zoomed up the highway as fast as the ruined van would allow. The two parents were chilly in just their boxers, and they and the van still reeked of skunk. Everyone felt rather sick from what was likely contaminated food.
"Stupid Sketchville," she fumed. "That town can burn in Hell for all I care!"
"Glad that we're out of it!" Ron agreed.
"Remind me to never ever take advice from Hego ever again!" Kim told her husband, who tended to give the benefit of the doubt more than she did.
"Done and done, KPS!" Ron replied.
"I just hope this whole TEVID thing blows over soon…" Kim said, her grip tightening on the steering wheel, her mind returning to the strange inactivity of Global Justice in the matter after the trip to Germany.
"Don't worry, KPS!" Ron said confidently. "This country has the best doctors and nurses on the face of the planet! We'll flatten the curve the governor mentioned and be back to normal in two weeks!"
