Wind radar provides precise information on wind patterns at different altitudes by focusing on the mobility of air particles, as opposed to typical weather radar, which mainly detects precipitation. A specialized radar device called wind radar, often referred to as Doppler radar, or wind profiler radar, tracks the motion of airborne particles to determine wind direction and speed.
Monitoring in Real Time With Improved Forecasting
With the help of real-time data from wind radar devices, meteorologists and other experts can keep a constant eye on the wind. This skill is essential for monitoring shifting weather patterns and sending out alerts promptly. Wind radar helps anticipate wind patterns more precisely and enhances weather forecasting models by giving vertical wind profiles. Evaluating storm development, shear from the wind, and other weather-related issues is made easier with the use of this knowledge.
How Do You Use Wind Radar?
Radar Delivery: Radio waves or electromagnetic pulses are sent into the atmosphere by wind radar devices. These pulses move through the atmosphere and bounce off of many materials, including ice crystals, water droplets, and dust.
Doppler Shift: The Doppler effect causes the frequency of the radar pulses to change as they return to the radar receiver. The Doppler shift happens as the atmosphere's particles move about the radar, altering the sound frequency of the signal that is returned.
Data Analysis: To ascertain the particle's velocity, the radar system examines the frequency shift. This data is used to provide a thorough profile regarding wind behaviour by calculating the wind's speed and direction at various elevations.
Visualisation: Software is used to process and create wind profiles and wind maps, which show the direction and speed of the wind at different levels of the atmosphere based on the data gathered by the wind radar.
Wind radar improves our capacity to forecast weather patterns, provide safety in aircraft and maritime operations, and support scientific research by giving precise, real-time data on wind speed and direction.

Saw twisters bc of your shyan fic and of course all I could think about was Ryan and Shane in those roles again (especially that scene when Kate says 'It's beautiful' abt the tornado and Owen looks at her). Anyway thanks for reccomending it I also had fun watching it.
Aww! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I definitely left the theater last night thinking about my shyan storm chase au, maybe I will figure out another story to tell about them.
There's a couple of ideas I had that never made it into the fic and they might be fun to explore at some point

Finally made that "angel" oc.
Tumblr media
Notes below the cut.
-Her name is Alma and she works as a caretaker for a haunted church, and resides on the property.
-Alma grew up attending a megachurch with her parents, who fell hard into the idea that they could buy their way into heaven, to the extent that they drained Alma's entire college fund making donations to the church.
As a result, Alma has a generally negative view of religion as a whole, which leads to the question... how is she an angel if she's agnostic at best?
Simple answer; She's not.
As a teenager, she developed a "miraculous gift", which enabled her to commune with the dead, one which her parents took full advantage of in order to gain a higher social status in their church, and people started calling her an angel, and, well, the title stuck until she graduated high school and got the hell out of her small town and far the fuck away from the people she grew up around.
-Alma's casual wear tends to be like the outfit she's pictured in above, with her dressing more practically for work and business related things, but she generally prefers things that are fairly cutesy and/or sexy, usually in pink.
-She can run in heels on grass, and has, on more than one occasion, chased down people ghost hunting in the attached graveyard without permission before, and there's something uniquely terrifying about a woman in six inch heels sprinting after you because you're making too much noise after hours.
-Alma got her current job because she most of the people who had the position before her got scared away, and the folks who hired her half expected her to quit the same day, but she's stuck it out for... Mn, ten years now?
Yeah, turns out ghosts are less freaky when you realize 1.) They can't hurt you, and 2.) You saw them trying to be all mysterious and scary knocking shit over and were able to physically grab them and yell at them for fucking up your hard work.
And lastly;
-The church she works for is actually owned by the ministry, so occasionally clergy members show up and they never seem prepared for the cute receptionist lady with pink glitter eyeshadow to suddenly grab a shovel and go, "Right, cool, you fill out your paperwork and shit, I have to go dig a hole because somebody won't pay for a fucking backhoe."
...She is to be feared.

how are you not bored of the x files yet
I'm just not? Idk how to explain it. I think the server and how active it is helps and the fact that fandom isn't dead (it's quieter than it was when i first joined) and there's new fic and new other stuff being posted so that keeps me interested I guess. Also I just haven't watched much of anything else in the past 5 years, nothing that's sucked me into a fandom anyway, I think if I had I'd have probably left a long time ago but again there's the server and at this point the friendships we have go beyond the show and I'd say they are real genuine (hopefully) lifelong friendships.
it's also important to note that im not as active in the fandom as much as i used to be. i post some fic yeah and i have my guess the ep game going on but i don't feel as fully submerged as i did 5 years ago. i also don't really watch the show that much, outside of the rewatches on the server, i haven't done a solo rewatch from start to finish since the first time i ever watched it so do what you want with that.
i think mostly tho it probably as something to do with finding the show in my 20s. i think i read somewhere that most long term connections are formed in your 20s and i guess that extends to the shows you watch as well. if id found the show and joined when i was the age i was when i watched and joined ouat then i probably wouldn't have stuck around for so long because i didn't stay in the ouat fandom for long, even if i did still have the server.

If JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 5 was dubbed by 4Kids TV Part 2
Since this would be based in New York City, the voices would be peppered with the NYC accent. Because not only was 4kids based in New York, but also because America!
For Giorno Giovanna (George Green), he'd have a slight Manhattan accent. His voice would be soft as provided by Sam Riegel (seriously, that man's voice is really soft when it needs to be. Just hear his role as Donatello in TMNT 2003.)
For Bruno Buccellati (Bruno Brown), since he's a seaside man, I thought that he'd have more of a Staten Island accent. Considering Ray Chase as well as Yuichi Nakamura's deep register, I would think that Dan Green would be a perfect fit.
For Pannacotta Fugo (Patrick French), he would have more Manhattan accent because his back story of being born into luxury and riches. He is the perfect fit for Andrew Rannells. Listen to the performances by Andrew Rannells!
For Narancia Ghirga (Nathan Grant), he would be either a Queens or a Brooklyn accent. That accent just matches his personality. I debated on what 4kids voice actor would fit and Jason Griffith was just the best fit.
For Guido Mista (Gully Mist), he would be more of a Queens or Staten Island accent. He just fits the whole 'Ey, I'm walkin' here" vibe of New York City. Marc Diraison does fit Mista's whole tough vibe here.
For Leone Abbacchio (Leon Abbott), he would be a Brooklyn accent most definitely with that personality of his. Eric Stuart's voice isn't deep like Mick Lauer or Junichi Suwabe, but he has that sarcastic vibe to make up for it in spades.
As for Trish Una (Trisha Upton), I don't think she would have a New York City accent. Instead, I'd think she'd have a stereotypical French accent, if not the usual American accent for 4kids. So, I thought Rebecca Honig fits Trish's vibe the best.

I am studying meteorology and today is a Big Thunderstorm Day in my country, including a big tornado risk (uncommon).
The human in me is obviously worried for loss of life and all that, but the meteorologist in me is laying out treats and making kissy noises at the sky

LiDAR VS Traditional Methods- A Look at the Future of Measurement
For centuries, humans have relied on a variety of tools and techniques to measure the world around them. But as technology continues to evolve, so too do our measurement capabilities. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is rapidly emerging as a revolutionary tool with the potential to transform how we measure everything from buildings to landscapes.
Tumblr media
The Limitations of Traditional Methods
Traditional measurement methods often have inherent limitations. For example, surveying large areas can be time-consuming and labour-intensive. Melbourne wind radar, while effective for measuring wind speed and direction at a distance, can't provide detailed information about objects beyond their range. Contact-based methods, like tape measures, may not be suitable for delicate or uneven surfaces. Additionally, some traditional methods require a direct line of sight, which can be a challenge in cluttered environments.
What is LiDAR?
LiDAR works by emitting pulses of light, typically from a laser, and measuring the time it takes for the light to bounce back from a target. This allows for incredibly precise measurements of distance, even over long ranges. Unlike traditional methods that rely on line-of-sight or physical contact, LiDAR can penetrate fog, dust, and even light vegetation, making it a valuable tool in a variety of applications.
Advantages of LiDAR
LiDAR offers several advantages over traditional methods:
Speed and Efficiency: LiDAR is perfect for large-scale projects since it can quickly and efficiently gather enormous volumes of data.
Accuracy: LiDAR systems can generate highly accurate 3D models with millimeter-level precision.
Non-Contact Measurement: LiDAR doesn't require physical contact with the object being measured, making it suitable for delicate or uneven surfaces.
Remote Sensing: LiDAR can be used to collect data from long distances and in difficult-to-reach areas.
Data Richness: LiDAR data can be used to extract a wealth of information beyond simple measurements, such as object classification and volume calculations.
As LiDAR technology continues to develop, its applications will undoubtedly become even more widespread. With its speed, accuracy, and versatility, LiDAR has the potential to revolutionize the way we measure the world around us. From construction projects to environmental monitoring, LiDAR is poised to play a major role in shaping the future of measurement.
