July 2nd - Into the Great Wide Open by AmyPond45 on Ao3. Sam/Dean. Wincest AU.  A hundred years ago in a dystopian world where monsters have won the West and Sam and Dean were raised not knowing they were brothers, Sam and Dean reunite after a six-year separation and go in search of Dean’s mother through the Colorado Rockies. WIncest AU.  Dean dies fighting Michael one last time and Sam must let him go; left without his brother and knowing that he can’t bring him back Sam goes into free fall until Castiel persuades him to go on a vacation. While staying in a remote cabin Sam thinks he sees his brother and starts seeing him in other places. Finally he manages to confront what he thinks is a spirit, but this is a real person – a Dean from another dimension – one where Dean and Sam have been bought up differently and one where Dean and Sam are more than brothers. This Dean is searching for his Sammy and Sam agrees to help him…soon he becomes too fond of this alternative Dean and they fall into a relationship that might change Sam’s life forever.

He plans to enjoy his relationship with Jeff for as long as he can and then let him go when they get to Texas. But Jeff refuses to give up on them.And then Jared meets Jensen. He expects to be jealous of the bond Jensen shares with Jeff or for Jensen to want Jeff to himself. But Jared gets along with Jensen as easily as he did with Jeff, and he falls for him as hopelessly as he did for Jeff. Fic Writer Questions

@wincestismyheart thank you for tagging me in this. I love these kinds of things. Sorry it's taken me over a month to do it myself! Ha!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I have 27 works currently. I've deleted a few over the years.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

207,118. That's actually crazy to think about.

3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Predominately, Supernatural. But I do write for Skam and its Remakes as well (Skam France and Druck currently).

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

1) The First Time I Saw Your Face (263 Kudos, 4k, wincest) - I posted this one in 2019 crazily enough, so it's semi new and its also the only fic I have on ao3 that I attempted no promotion of. So how it ended up with the most kudos, is a mystery to me. This fic was a WIP for so fucking long and 2019 was a good year writing wise for me, so I was able to finish it up and post it. It's actually very endearing to my heart, because it's an over-compassing story in short glimmers of their love story from Sam's birth until Stanford!Era / Pilot.

2) Two Hearts, One Home (230 Kudos, 5k, evak - skam) - The first published fic for these two and it's literally just fluffy and porn. For some reason when I write them, I turn into a porn writing champion, which is a strange turn for me--as I usually struggle with it! Written in 2019.

3) Close Your Eyes & Make A Wish (203 Kudos, 7k, Datteo - Druck) - The first Druck fic I ever posted and it's a recanting of one of their episodes. I love Matteo and David so fucking much and they will always live in my heart. So happy I wrote this piece. Also written in 2019. (see what I mean about it being a good writing year?)

4) To Rise, We Must Fall (197 Kudos, 11k, Wincest) This was written for the 2014 reverse big bang. It was my first dip into challenges and I'm happy it exists because it gave me courage to attempt other challenges. I def don't think it's the strongest thing I've ever written, but I love it because it's Boy King related.

5) Treble Clef Confessions (191 Kudos, 1k, Elu - Skam Fr) - The first and only thing I ever wrote for Skam France. I don't anticipate writing anything in the future for them, but I do love this short little piece that reimagines a scene. This was also written in 2019.

5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Oh yes, I absolutely do. I am so grateful for any comments I get, because unfortunately they are few and far between. I wish my readers left more tbh, because they just fuel my desire to keep writing. So I definitely love to take care of those that do, just to also encourage them to do the same for others.

6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

There's two that I think of, but I'll go with the one that has had more responses from the fandom. Everything's For You was written in my earlier tumblr days for a tumblr challenge. The prompt was basically to imagine: “Dean says time is different in hell, but what if it’s not? What if Dean really spent 40 years in hell before Cas put him back to 2008? Write what 40 years without Dean may have looked like for Sam.” And well, things get a little sad.

7. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I feel like I try to make sure all of my fics end on a happy note, just because I like to make the angst so severe throughout the fic. Lol. But the Skam piece I am currently working on and isn't posted yet, is def going to be the happiest. So look out for, A Weekend To Remember.

8. Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?

I haven't written one yet, not to say I never would.

9. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I wouldn't say hate, but I have had people challenge the way I write and say it's too flowery. People also try to correct the way I write Brother in Wincest fics with a capital B, but that's my creative freedom as a writer. They're not just brothers. They're Brothers. <3

10. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I do write it, but it really depends on the fandom I guess. When I write for Sam and Dean, I feel like the smut I write is few and far between. Not that it's hard to write, or that I don't enjoy it--but I enjoy writing them without it. Sometimes I feel like it means just as much without it, because that's just them. But then I put my Skam glasses on and I'm suddenly on a smut roll.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge. I hope that never happens; I wouldn't handle that very well.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but I would be open to it under the right circumstances.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nothing posted, but maybe between friends--yes.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

Def, Wincest. I don't care how far away from SPN I get, I walk by a flower stand and see sunflowers and with always instantly be reminded of Sam. I'll see wanderer things and think of Sam. I'll see leather candles and think of Dean. I'll see an impala on the road and think of the boys on the road in the middle of the night. I will always see them everywhere and they will always be a part of me.

15. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

Probably the 900 J2 fics I've started. I want to finish one, but I usually get distracted and start something else.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think for me, it is dependent on how well I know a character...because if I know them like the backs of my hands, I can really get into the vein of them and write them well. The worst feeling for me is when I can't feel a characters voice as I write.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Probably that I get distracted entirely too easily. An idea will come up and I'll be all about it, write 10k of it and then think of something else. And then it'll sit in my drafts as a WIP for years, staring at me with pleading eyes and I just try my best to not think about the 'what-ifs'.

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I try to stay away from it if I can, because to me it is distracting.

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Unpublished Nsync fanfic for sure. LMAO. But second fandom would be Supernatural.

20. What's your favorite fic you've written?

There's so many things I want to say, but in this moment, I can't help but think of: A Brother's Lament (A Slow Death). It was written for the spnj2bigbang for 2016 and it's probably the longest fic I've written, being that it's 46k. It is a love story to Dean's slow and maddening deterioration after Sam's death in Swan Song. Of how he tries to live the life he promised, but finds that he physically cannot do it. It's sad and violent, dark and upsetting, but I put my whole heart into it and it's not even the most well received thing I've written--but I fucking love it so much.

Which Fics

I was tagged by @deanwinchesterswitch. This was hard. Mostly because I quit keeping track of my fics. Once I finish writing them, I sort of just… forget they exist, unless people start sharing and commenting on them again. (I’m the worst!)

Which of your fics…

…did you think would get a bigger reaction/audience than it got?

Kym will kill me for this, but I never expect that anyone will read what I write… I get honestly surprised when people start liking, commenting, and reblogging my shit! 

THAT said, I was a little bummed that My Alpha, My Soulmate didn’t get a bigger response. I can blame Tumblr for that one, The Porn Purge happened in the midst of posting, then I had to change everything over to this blog halfway through because I wasn’t able to edit posts on my @sammys-smutty-writer blog anymore… Although, this fic does have the most hits on Ao3, I believe that’s because it’s a multi-chapter fic… 

…got a better reaction than you expected?

In a Rut, was just a little Wincest drabble-ish one-shot that I did, most of my Wincest stuff did alright on that blog, but when I put everything over to Ao3, it blew up! It’s got over 7k hits right now! I can’t even imagine that many people reading or rereading that fic… it’s got mpreg in it and that usually throws people off… 

…is your funniest?

I have no clue. I can’t go through ALL of my fics to gauge which got the most 😂 comments… I think that @JarPadsTitties was hilarious, without the hurt comfort aspect, and Anticlimactic was too funny, in my head… but also Hott Yoga… just picturing Dean trying to do yoga cracks me up! 

…is your darkest or angstiest?

I have a few of these, but in the most literal sense, Sucker Love is both of those things, so I guess that one wins! It was my first time writing the boys as actual bad guys, for lack of a better word.

…is your absolute favorite?

I don’t have one. There are so many that I like for different reasons, and depending on my mood, that changes! I guess I really like My Alpha, My Soulmate because she gets to have both boys and be herself but still taken care of. It’s kinda the dream!

…is your least favorite?

The one that I didn’t feel like I had written very well, and therefore kinda hated and didn’t wanna post, was Before it’s Too Late. It wasn’t really what I was hoping it would be, and I didn’t feel like I wrote it as well as I should have, to do it justice.

…was the easiest to write?

I have an entire series of drabbles for Sam, Dean, and Wincest/J2… most of them were written in like 10-30 minutes, but more recently I wrote Werewolves & Winchesters in one day, it’s also unbeta’d, so who knows if it’s actually any good, but I have gotten some comments on it…   

…was hardest to write?

Everything that I’ve written/am writing for my Master on Patreon is difficult because she loves Lucifer/Nick… I actually can’t stand him and it’s a real stretch for me to write someone that I can’t stand, but it’s been a great exercise for me! So, archangeli gratia, Sense vs Scents, and one of my current WIPs, Vegas or Bust, are the hardest to write, outside of my Big Bangs, which were only hard because of how LONG I worked on them...

…has your favorite lines/exchange/paragraph? (share it!)

Each piece has good one-liners, but one of my favourite exchanges is in Branching Out, which is the prequel to my 2019 Wincest Big Bang, Love, Lies & Lap Dances:

Dean’s knuckles were white, clutched tight on the steering wheel and Sam reached over with his own busted knuckles to pry them free, shushing him and telling him that everything would be okay. He hadn’t realized he was crying until he sniffled and went to speak.

Sam slid closer to him and pulled Dean’s head into his chest, rubbing his hand through his hair to soothe him as he wept. “It’s okay… We’re okay… Thank you, Dean,” Sam comforted him.

They sat there, Sam holding him in the front seat of their only consistent home, on the side of the road until Dean could breathe steady again. He dragged himself out of his brother’s arms and muttered, “Thanks, Sammy. I’m sorry, I don’t know what that was.”

“You just did something terrifying and amazing. You were just getting through your nerves.”

“I just yelled some stuff and got punched in the face,” Dean countered. He reached down and grabbed Sam’s busted hand. “You’re the one that actually went up against him.” Dean was in awe of how brave his little brother had been. Even after everything that had happened, Dean doubted if he would ever have been able to throw a punch at the man.

“He punched you. I wasn’t just gonna stand there and let that happen,” Sam stated plainly, then added, “not again. I’m going to have to stitch you up.” The anger in Sam’s voice was almost startling, almost. Dean had hardly thought about what he must look like, it must be bad if Sammy thought he needed stitches.

“Hey, I’m the big brother, I’m supposed to take care of you.” Dean winced as he smirked at his little brother, then started the car.

“So, where to, now, big brother?” Sam laughed as he slid back over to his side of the car.

…have you reread the most?

I don’t tend to reread my stuff, but sometimes I’ll get a new comment on something old and not remember AT ALL what they’re talking about, so I’ll reread it. But the one that I have actually reread, on purpose was Hey Little Sister, my first ever Wincest fic.

…would you recommend to someone reading your work for the first time?

That depends on what they’re interested in… if they like Sam, then it would be Stupid Secrets Game; Dean would have to be Désordre Sanglant; if they like both boys and A/B/O then My Alpha, My Soulmate would be perfect, and if they like Wincest, then it would either be Illicit Daydreams, or one of my big bangs… Love, Lies, & Lap Dances (if they like a happy ending) or The Ones We Leave Behind (if they like angst and don’t mind major character death). Usually, I just link them to my works page and tell them there’s a bit of everything, but if they give me specifics of something they’re looking for, I’ll link them to whatever I have that fits the bill!

…are you most proud of?

I am most proud of Love, Lies, & Lap Dances, with Branching Out thrown in because it’s the same universe. I put so much more effort into that bang than I did the year before. I created the whole universe and everything and it took me almost the entire year to write it. That story took on so much that I HAD to write the prequel just to really flush everything out that needed it. I still have a timestamp in mind for that one too, I just need to write it!

BEEP BEEP BEEP

It's my cue. 4:30 AM. Every morning. Wake up at 4:30 to slip into my room before Sam gets up to start his day. Why he has to wake up and take a jog every morning is beyond me. I gently nudge Dean who responds by waving me off. Jerk. I scoff, standing up and throwing a pillow at him nailing him right in the face. He mutters something under his breath before flinging the pillow across his room, hitting the wall. I roll my eyes and try to use the flashlight from my phone to find my clothes from the previous night. Failing to do so, I turn the light on which seems to infuriate the sleeping dragon. Dean shoots up from the bed, kicking the covers on the floor in the process "What, (y/n)? What do you want? Attention? Didn't I give you enough last night?" I roll my eyes, flipping him off "Not everything's about you, Dean! I need to find my clothes, so I can go. The faster I find them, the faster I can leave." Dean walks over to a pile in the corner of the room and throws the clothes at me "Here. Goodnight." Dean turns his light off and flops back into bed "Close the door on the way out." Any normal (p/p) would be crying or shouting, but not me. That (p/p) isn't me anymore. Dean's broken me out of it because no matter what reaction I give him, he doesn't care. I'm just an easy thing for him. I can't cry for sympathy because I'm far from a saint.

I quickly throw on the clothes that feel a little too tight on me. I slowly creep out of his room, keeping look out for Sam. I check out the clothes as I walk down the hall. Yup, they definitely aren't mine. I want to turn around and yell at him for cheating on me, but we aren't dating. 'It's not technically cheating if we aren't technically dating, (y/n)'; That's what he always tells me. Sam comes out of nowhere as I turn the corner to my hall, I stumble back and let out a gasp before laugh "Sorry, Sam!" Sam smiles, looking at me weird. "What?" I watch his eyes trail down my body. Sam shrugs and shakes his head, looking at me "Nothing. I..just was getting to my jog." I nod and start walking past him before looking back at him again. He's still standing there, watching me. Creep.

I finally get to my room, closing my door and pressing my forehead against it. I take a big breath and lock my door before turning my back against it, sliding to the ground. I sit there staring at the space in front of me. My laptop screen is black on the floor in front of me, so I see myself. My pathetic self. How I ended up with Sam and Dean? I couldn't tell you it's all a blur. The going was great in the beginning, but now it's complicated. I slam my laptop shut and kick it under my bed, grabbing the bottle of whiskey next to my nightstand. I never drank before. In fact, I only ever had enough sips to fill a shot glass over the course of years. Now, my liver counts it as a healthy week if I only drink myself into oblivion twice. I press the cold glass against my lips, raising the bottle. The liquid inside is cold, but I know it'll make me feel warm instantly. Out of habit, I close my eyes, feeling my body clench as the whiskey flows down smoothly. My body is feeling warm now and I keep drinking. I drink until my body is cozy. I drink until my broken heart is temporarily mended with invisible bandaids. I drink until my regrets are forgiven. I drink until my life is forgotten.

BANG BANG BANG

"Open the door!"

My eyes flutter open, but I stay seated on the floor, hugging the whiskey bottle a little closer.

BANG BANG BANG

"(Y/N)!"

It's Dean.

BANG BANG BANG BANG

"I'm going to kick the door down in two seconds!" His voice is booming through the door. "Okay! Hold on. Jeez." I hide the bottle underneath my bed and stand up, opening the door. Dean's standing there, his face hard as a rock. His jaw is clenched and his eyes are burning circles into my head "Sammy saw you this morning?" I roll my eyes, walking to my bed slowly crawling into it. "You were too busy lingering around instead of getting out of my room. I had to tell him nothing was happening between us. What happened to not telling anyone?" His voice is too loud. I cover my ears and close my eyes tightly. My head is pulsating at every word he says. He's too loud. He's talking too much. "(Y/n)? (Y/n)! You're pathetic." He slammed the door shut behind him. 

This is what my life has become. I had dreams. I wanted to be someone in this cold world. I wanted to be talked about for centuries from now. Taught about in classrooms. Adored in many generations. I had ambition, but then I got older and that eagerness seemed to lessen year after year. As the years went by, my expectations of myself diminished, but even a month ago I wouldn't have seen myself a drunken mess who stays with two brothers that could care less about (p/p). I don't remember much about myself, so I wouldn't know if I had a family run to. If they cared, I would've been at home right now.

I don't know what time it is, but I feel my bed move. I open my eyes, but I remain still. I feel hands trailing my body. It's dark, but they're being gentle. I feel soft kisses and warm breath against my skin with every small kiss. I slowly turn around to face him and of course, it's Dean. "Look, (y/n), I'm not ready for Sam to know about us. I overreacted. Let me make it up to you." He moves on top of me, kissing me. I know he's apologizing, but my day in and day outs are rinse and repeat at this point. Empty apologies. Empty promises. I feel my stomach gurgle; I need something to eat. 

"You're my only" my head snaps to Dean. My eyes search what glimpse I can see of his. He's never said that before. I can't tell if he's lying. Does he mean it? "I'm in love with you, (y/n)" I feel my mouth go dry and my body start to shake. He loves me. "I love you too" the words spilled out of my mouth. I didn't mean to say it back. Not yet. I needed to know if he meant it. I wasn't ready to be vulnerable to him yet. He doesn't hesitate to pull the shorts down. I realize I'm still in those clothes that aren't mine. I shake the thoughts out of my head. Maybe they were mine and I just don't remember, some of my clothes could be tight I suppose. I hear his belt buckle clink and clank as he removes it and the zip of his zipper going down. I feel him on top of me. I feel him slam inside of me. No warm up. No warning. I slam my eyes shut, squirming underneath him, but he pushes his palm into my shoulder hard to keep me still. I wince from the pain, but he doesn't seem to notice; I can tell this moment is for Dean and not for us.

After it's done, he gets up and throws on his clothes. I instantly sit up, reaching out for him "I love you, Dean. I meant it." I stand up and wrap my arms around him, but he pushes me off "Okay? I just wanted you to forgive me" He laughs in my face, turning around walking out. I feel a lump develop in my throat. I stand there, breathing heavily. Feeling like I just got punched in the gut, I hold my stomach in pain and disgust. I storm out after him yelling out "You're disgusting! I hate you!" He keeps walking down the hallway, not bothering to turn around. I feel dirty. I cover my naked body in shame with my hands and rush into my room. 

My stomach continues to grumble, but all I'm giving my body is whiskey. The bottles empty now, the swigs I'm taking are all gusts of flavored air. I can't muster up the strength to move. I can't muster up the courage to risk facing Dean. He's probably in there shoveling pie in his mouth, unphased by the hurt he's caused me. My back is against the door and I can hear footsteps echoing closer. The footsteps stop right at my door. I put the bottle down, sliding it underneath my bed. I listen to it clink against the dozens of other empty glass bottles underneath my bed. Listening for the knock, I hear the footsteps start again, this time walking away. I manage to stand up and open the door. The only thing down this hallway is a plate of food and a bottle of water right by my door. Hunger takes over my body as I fall to my knees, feasting on the food right there. I feel like an animal. I need to do better. I have to.

Finishing my drink, I slam the glass down and slide the money over to the bartender. "You calling it a night, (y/n)?" She starts clearing my spot as I get up. "Yup. I'm just a little tired. Plus Sam decided to stay in tonight, so I'm a bit bored." I smile at the bartender and we wave goodbye. The past two weeks, I made it a point to get out of the bunker. Dean wasn't too happy about that, but Sam was. I started going on walks with him in the mornings and the bars at night. Tonight, Sam decided he wanted to take a break from the routine and catch up on a case he's been hearing about. Walking down the road past an alley, I hear moans and groans. I laugh to myself. People just do whatever, whenever, and wherever! Curiosity got the best of me as I peeked further into the alley. I felt vomit race up my throat as I puke up the last ten drinks I had at the bar in the past two hours. Dean and a perfect little blondie out in the open for all to see and hear. I walk up to them, pushing her away from him "Dean!" He rolls his eyes, breathing heavily and he pushes me to the side "We're not together, it's not cheating. Go study with Sammy. We could get this case done and over with after you two find out what needs to be found out. Don't worry, I'll save some stamina for you too!" He smirks at me and pulls the blonde, who doesn't seem to care about my presence, in closer. "You can stay for the show" He laughs at me. I shake my head and run off not wanting to witness anymore of it.

For the first time in a long time, tears drench my face. He lied to me, he cheated on me, and he doesn't care. I push the bunker doors open and walk to the library. Sam's head is buried in a book, but he looks up at me and stands up quickly "Hey, what happened? Are  okay?" I rush over to him not wanting to hear anything he had to say, kissing him hard. Sam pulled away staring at me in disbelief, his eyes searching my eyes for some kind of approval before crashing his lips against mine. Our clothes were a mess on the floor in seconds. Books were flung off the table in minutes. I didn't need sympathy. I didn't need a shoulder to cry on. I needed to be Dean and Sam needed to be the blonde.

Two can play at this game.
