Who are the willow mist personas? Anything you can tell us about them?
So the Willow Mist personas are self insert OCs made by me and my friends! They’re side characters such as blacksmiths, librarians, gardeners etc, and they have their own little lives that sometimes interact with the egos depending on the storyline!
My persona is Geeky, of course, and she is the royal librarian in the palace. She likes everything to be orderly and under control, but loves having a maximalist lifestyle as long as its tidy. That means that her workspace is decorated by countless little trinkets and crystals that she or her friends buy for her, and the library is full of artefacts for educational purposes. She loves honey lavender and lilac tea, and making food even if she isn’t very good at cooking. If someone doesn’t return their book on time (*ahem* WM! Odelle) you will hear the keys on her belt before you realise she’s right there, and then she’ll hunt you down until you return the book or pay the late/damage/replacement fee. She’s got access to every book in the palace, and the keys and magic for the cabinets containing the irreplaceable volumes.
For those who also have WM Personas, feel free to reblog and talk about yours, since you’d do a far better job than me!

↳ AUTHOR’S NOTES: AW YEAH MY FIRST DEMON SLAYER FIC BBY LET'S GOOOO, this is probably really bad lmao i'm sorry, but i wanted to go easy for my first one. dedicating to @dudeandduchess because mahal kita po <3 and i've been wanting to dedicate a rengoku fic to you for quite some time, love! hehe, i hope you like it.
Tumblr media
Far beneath the horizon, Rengoku sat underneath the willow tree. Arms sprawled out, mind dazed into a mist. The stars seemed to be brighter tonight rather than usual. Rather so, it was uncanny to have him puzzled in his own tranquil state of mind—Rengoku was bold; brave, uptight in his own way though he was gentle with it in a swift manner. At least, only with your presence, and his ears perked up at the clanking noise of pans coming from the inside of your home.
Intrigued, he sits up, raising his eyebrows high. Fire lit in his heart—as typical, though he believed that it was more than the uproars that he’d bestow upon the other Hashira that he had grown accompanied to. At least, with the way you smiled at him, peeking into his eyes—watching the match light up within his pupils, his heart soared. In indescribable ways. And Rengoku watches you set the table up.
Bowls of rice decorate the mahogany wood nicely; matcha tea resting close near the edge. Fresh fish cooked to his liking, and he nearly salivates at the sight. He makes his presence known, bolstering out how your cooking always endeared him, and he frantically dives in quickly—allowing you to choke out laughs while attempting to pass over any sauces.
“As usual, Y/N, your cooking is outstanding!” He says loudly, twirling the chopsticks in his hands. “It’s always a pleasure to see you before I go out to do my assignments!”
“I’m glad you made it,” you say, swirling the tea in your hands. “I’m a bit concerned though, Kyo.”
“Why is that?” He asks, keeping a smile on his face; brows still raise in a matter of confusion.
“Something doesn’t feel right,” you admit, rolling your shoulders back in defeat. “Maybe I’m just worried that you won’t come back.”
He blinks at you mindlessly. Rengoku always understood your fear; irrational, yet he admitted to himself that it was normal for you to feel such a way. Out of all the Hashira, you remained the closest with him—though you managed to captivate him out of all people.
Rengoku eyes your look; displeased, filled with a tint of worry. A look he doesn’t typically like to see, but he works with it. Has to. For your sake; the connection he built with you was not meant to be broken.
Rengoku was a man true to his words; a kind, loud spirit, he was. The match lit in his heart was an obvious notice to his emotions—fiery blaze of reds; soon to die out into a swirl of pinks. Cherry blossoms, almost. Only you made him feel this way.
And he wasn’t going to remain in denial for so long. Truly, he was able to shout out his true nature to you. A scream of “I love you”s was an obvious act, but had you felt the same way? A Hashira; one that sacrifices his life to protect others—such as you—to be troubled with his own emotions, even for the tumultuous persona he illustrated?
“I’ll always come back to you, Y/N!” Rengoku responds, putting his bowl down. “Your food is tasty as always—of course, how could I not come back to such a beautiful talent in cooking?”
Fighting back a cough, you turn away. “You aren’t afraid to speak out your thoughts, Kyo. Really.”
Rengoku purses his lips. ‘Well…’ his mind wanders into a thought. At least, even for one moment, he allows himself to cherish his time with you—only in case the night before he leaves would be his last. His heart quickens its beat, nearly enough to have him choke on his bite of rice before he restrains himself.
“There’s something on your mind,” you chuckle, reaching for your mug. “What is it, Kyo?”
“Nothing at all, Y/N!” He says loudly, taking in bits of his rice. “You don’t need to worry about me so much. I’m honored, but your heart is filled with so much kind spirit.”
“Of course I care. I get concerned…” your voice trails off, “I wonder if there’ll be a night where you won’t come visit anymore and something must’ve happened to you.”
Clear night sky; the faint ambient noise of the wind sings from the outside. Field quiet behind the both of you. Even the warmth of his cheeks would’ve been enough to keep Rengoku cool.
The whole dinner was an exchange of conversations. A typical bit of his talk about working with the pillars—with a new occurrence of a newbie and her demon sister. An usual uprising, though Rengoku pondered on about it throughout the course of the meal.
Eyes so hollow from exhaustion. Only Rengoku could stare into your dilated pupils and note how you were feeling from overworking yourself with the crops on the daily. Though, even for the moment when the color was shallow, he noted the dust of gold across the match in his heart—a bright flame, enough to cause his cheeks to flush.
Love; Uzui scoffed at him at one point that he needed someone to hold.
“M’sorry, Kyo…” your lips purse slowly, voice fading out to a fog. “I’m very exhausted…”
Rengoku’s eyes widen, watching your tired figure nearly tumble on the table. Quickly, he rises to a halt and catches your body. A warm embrace, with your chest close to his beating heart. Not one moment did he find regret in it, and he allowed himself to carry you to the bedroom.
“It’s time for you to sleep, Y/N,” Rengoku says, fighting back a laugh. “You overwork yourself too much.”
“Shh,” you sigh, wailing a hand. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“I’m positive you do, but you might be too overwhelmed to think right now.”
“It’s too early for bed.”
Rengoku laughs. “At least, rest. You know you need it.”
Tucking you beneath the covers, he takes the opportunity to sit close to the futon. Rengoku watches you stir underneath the whites; hand intertwining with his.
He opens his mouth, debating on speaking a word, though he decides not to.
Instead, a gentle smile rises—brightening eyes softening to low saturation, and he leans in. Lips connecting into one; you melt into his touch, not thinking once about how caught off guard you were. Heart flutters to an endless rhythm, just as he anticipated—only for his heart to burn for yours.
And you notice his smile rising against the kiss, where his large hand pets your neck softly. Tender. As if one movement could shatter you—but Rengoku knew himself better than anyone. A man so deep to dedication and brawny determination. He believed he was meant to share his waking moments of understanding this funny thing called love with you, so with the given chance, why not take it? Much as he did.
“I love you,” his tone dies down to a compassionate melody. “Very much.”
You blink. “You… what?”
“And I will return to you once I’ve fulfilled my duty,” he murmurs right before his lips press against your forehead. “I look forward to having you safe in my arms, Y/N. It’s my strong motivation. So, please, don’t work yourself too hard.”
“You want to leave so soon?”
“I have a job to do, my love,” Rengoku responds. “Focus on your rest.”
He pulls away, trailing his finger across your tired face once more before sending off a wide grin. That exuberant spirit returned at last. And his body raced into an adrenaline high, right for the given moment of exiting the small home you owned.
The night is bright; the wing rings; and Rengoku’s heart is set to a soaring flame.
He turns back, grin not escaping his face once.
“Don’t worry, my love,” he says. “Once my mission with the Mugen Train is a success, then I will come right back to you.”

The Dreaming: waking Hours issue 11 review
Okay, there’s a  lot to unpack here.   First the good.
Daniel was actually portrayed as competent and compassionate. Hurray!
Tumblr media
Too bad those sparks of intelligence from Daniel don’t seem to last very long when he’s not being written by Neil.
Also I was right that Heather is trans and that was not treated as a major plot point.   More on that later.
Though I have to wonder, with all her power, why she transitioned medically instead of magically.  I imagine if she used magick to transition she wouldn't need permanent hormone medication.  I know it helps to represent the real trans condition but sometimes you want a little convenient magical escapism of making it easier.
Now for the picking apart / bad stuff.
Though G. Willow Wilson is well-versed in faery lore enough to know the rules about true names and concepts like The Unseelie I am afraid she mishandles them a bit.   For example she treats the Unseelie like this one specific faceless type of fae instead of an entire fae court of dark fae that usually entails goblins, trolls, drow, imps, etc.
She also doesn’t seem to know that in most depictions of Oberon and Titania they were nonchalant and very familiar with each other’s infidelities.   Oberon should not have been surprised (especially this far into things) that Titania slept with Morpheus.
Titania all but bluntly spelt it out at The Wake.  I am fairly certain Oberon was there.  Where was he when she spoke?  Drinking in the back?
In some faery lore Nuala was Oberon’s lover.  I had figured that was the reason Titania saw to it she was given as a gift to Morpheus.  It was both a means to possibly get rid of her or if Morpheus didn’t accept the gift (she must have known his anti-slavery stance) it would have given a justifiable excuse for the Fae to go to war with The Dreaming and potentially lay claim to the key to Hell in Season of Mists.
Even Disney’s Gargoyles acknowledged this aspect of their character dynamic. When Oberon learned that Titania had a half-human child in the episode The Gathering Part 1 of Disney’s Gargoyles his response was (while grinning and chuckling) “Mother?!  Titania, what HAVE you been up to?”
In the Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, it was pretty clear that Oberon wanted Titania to sleep with Bottom while he had an ass’s head (blatant metaphor) as a means to humiliate her.
Moving on.
Yes, I was right that Heather is trans.  I am very glad it was not a major plot point before now.  However, the way her “True name” was handled wasn’t as good as I had hoped.  I had hoped that the fact that she chose the name Heather After that this has become her true name.  But the implication here is her deadname could have been used as her true name.  That bothers me.
I always figured true names (the name that can be used to summon and bind a magick user or supernatural creature) didn’t necessarily have to be the name you had at birth.  For example Vlad III of Wallachia is more well known as Drakulya (Dracula), the name he chose for himself as a patronymic homage to his father and so got used as his own house name.
In the 1985 Fright Night the character of Peter Vincent at first said “That isn’t even my real name.” But after he undergoes considerable character growth and puts protecting others before his own fear he starts saying “I AM Peter Vincent, the great vampire killer!”  The persona became his true name.
True names are NOT necessarily the name you had at birth.  This is part of why I feel the previous aspect of Dream may have Morpheus as as close to a true name as he’s got.  That’s why he’s credited as Lord Morpheus instead of Dream in The Sandman audio drama and calling out to him by the name Morpheus is how he came to rescue Rose from Funland in The Sandman: The Doll’s House.
So anyway, I’m conflicted about this scene in The Dreaming: Waking Hours.  I’m glad the deadname didn’t work as the true name but I would have felt better of Heather had become her true name.  That would have, in my opinion, been more satisfying than “There’s no such thing as a true name.”
Tumblr media
Something else that bugged me... All the ham-handed anti-monarchy commentary.  In real life monarchies are not great buuut we’re talking about the faerie court here. They’re not human.  Can you even imagine what the goblins would vote for if they had a democracy?   “Okay, that’s 97% in favor of abducting every infant in Manhattan.  And 3% wrote in ‘Chilli dogs.’  I didn’t know they could spell...”
It’s become a little embarrassing to me how every fantasy written by Americans has become anti-monarchy. Disney’s Descendants, Once Upon a time’s finale (they voted...), Game of Thrones’ ending, because having any sort of vote in a world that never had any before would totally work out well at that point in their culture....  Even on Tumblr I came across someone who thought they could “fix” the “Dumpster fire” that is Nightmare before Christmas by having the mayor strip Jack Skellington of his Pumpkin King title as punishment for what he did to Christmas since “You can’t learn your lesson if you do wrong without punishment.”    Frankly, I’m tired of the anti-monarchy stuff where it doesn’t actually work.
And the deliberately weak argument written for Titania of “But I’m Beautiful and Ancient!”   Also what’s with the weird almost-fetishism that she’s still wearing those manacle cuffs? Why didn’t Oberon or even Nuala take those off of her yet since they’re working together?
This is interesting because right here in the final page Heather quotes the very spell that invoked Morpheus.  I have been mentally conditioned that every time I see black talk bubbles with white text in a Sandman universe comic my first thought is “Morpheus?” even though we have already seen it used for other characters in things like the Dan Watters run of Lucifer.
Tumblr media
But the combination of quoting the invocation spell that trapped Morpheus, the talk bubble, and the golden thread (that resembles Morpheus’ life thread) has me intrigued and I don’t want to get my hopes up at the possibilities.
And still, for all my nitpicking, this IS the best version of The Dreaming to date.
I love Heather.  I think she’s very well written.  She’s the best original character of any Sandman spin-off.  I just think the anti-monarchy ranting is very misplaced in the realm of Faerie.   Think of what their parliament would consist of.   It’s like the minion of Jadis, The White Witch from Chronicles of Narnia, combined with the goblin muppets from Labyrinth, and the fae from Lost Girl combined.

Character overview
Co-created by G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona, Sana Amanat, and Stephen Wacker, in the comics, Kamala is an enthusiastic teenager who defends her hometown Jersey City as the costumed Ms. Marvel. First appearing in Captain Marvel #14 in August 2013, Kamala quickly captured the imagination of generations of True Believers, leading to her own monthly comic series in February 2014.
A self-avowed Avengers fan, in the game’s original story, Kamala Khan must apply her intellect, optimism, and unique abilities to the task of unraveling a global conspiracy and reassembling her personal heroes in time to stop a new secretive organization, Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), before they unleash one of the greatest threats Earth has ever faced.
Players first encounter a young Kamala during A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco—including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Kamala is exposed to the mysterious Terrigen Mist, and finds herself developing extraordinary polymorphic powers, which she subsequently hides for years. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, Kamala uncovers a shocking conspiracy and embarks on a quest to reassemble the heroes she believes in and to become the hero she was destined to be.
Players begin the journey as Kamala Khan and learn the origins of her extraordinary powers. As the story expands, Kamala plays an essential role in bringing the disbanded Avengers back together. As each Super Hero is added to the roster, players must master all of their unique abilities, rebuild and customize the Avengers team to face increasingly growing threats only the Avengers together can defeat.
“An optimistic fan girl of the Avengers, Kamala Khan is the perfect character for the story we’re telling in Marvel’s Avengers,” said Shaun Escayg, Creative Director and Writer at Crystal Dynamics. “Telling our story of Kamala’s coming-of-age brings a fresh, hopeful perspective to the gameplay experience and her unique abilities as Ms. Marvel make her a character every person can relate to and will want to play. Kamala Khan is one of the unique characters that makes our game stand apart from any Avengers story experienced before.”
“Kamala is an inspired and perfectly fitting choice to join the ranks of, and reassemble, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” said Bill Rosemann, VP of Creative at Marvel Games. “Perhaps more than any other character invented over the past decade, Ms. Marvel has not only charmed the hearts of longtime True Believers, but her unique mix of classic Marvel heroic elements and modern cultural relevancy has resulted in a headline-generating cultural icon.”
“It is a thrill to see Kamala in the Marvel’s Avengers game,” said Sana Amanat, VP of Content and Character Development at Marvel. “Crystal Dynamics has done a marvelous job of crafting a brand-new take on Kamala, while staying true to the spirit of her inspiring character, charismatic persona, and relatable purpose. Fans of the character are in for quite a ride, along with a few surprises, when Marvel’s Avengers makes its debut next year.”
“I think Kamala is a perfect fit for a game like this, since she sees the Marvel world the same way we do as fans and players,” said G. Willow Wilson, co-creator of Ms. Marvel. “Kamala allows us to imagine what we ourselves would do if we suddenly discovered we had superpowers and got to stand alongside our heroes in their time of greatest need.”

Masterpost for Statera Trium, a medieval scriptorium AU
by @lovethemfiercely, @flypaper-brain, and @leofgyth
Brother Ben is a scribe and a monk at St. Augustine’s Abbey in Canterbury, England. He is haunted by his past, and perhaps by something else as well. Brother Finn, also a monk and scribe, is travelling from his home, the Coptic monastery of Debre Damo in Ethiopia. He has been sent across the countless miles by the beautiful manuscript he carries and the mysterious and powerful visions it inspires. Rey is a servant girl, left to fend for herself in an unfamiliar country, with a puppy and a friendly donkey to keep her company and her wits to keep her alive.
As Ben, Finn, and Rey join together to fight for Ben’s soul, they will come to understand that they are stronger together than they are apart.
Chapters so far:
I: Prologus | II: Conventus et Memoriae | III: Tactibus et Itineribus | IV: Peregrina et Personae | V: Viae et Modi | VI: Chalceus et Charitas | VII: Ferrum et Fides | VIII: Aves, Arbores et Ancora | IX: Auditio et Adspectus | X: Finis Terre et Initium Maris | XI: Aequor ad Anglia | XII: Ligamen et Litteratura | XIII: Flamma et Flumen | XIV: Introductio et Frustratio | XV: Intentio et Eruditio | XVI: Conflictio, Consolatio, et Consecutio | XVII: Dissociatio et Decisio | XVIII: Recordatio et Recognitio | XIX: Momentum et Miraculum | XX: Equitatio et Eripio | XXI: Remedium, Repertum, et Reprehensio |
A note on the artwork
We commissioned @persimonne to create a very special work of art for our fic, and we couldn’t be happier. Brother Ben is a scribe and an artist,  he deals with his despair by creating beautiful art for his manuscripts. In every chapter, Ben is sketching in the margins, illustrating bits of text using visions that come to him, both visions of the demon that haunts him and happier visions as Rey and Finn get closer to him. @persimonne’s piece is designed to look like an illustration that Brother Ben would make of his first vision, which occurs at the very end of Chapter One, as the story is just getting started. The design of the piece is influenced by the illustrations in a real manuscript, the Lewis Psalter (Free Library of Philadelphia Lewis E 185, online here).
Brother Ben woke with a start, thrashing and fighting the empty air. He was safe, here in his dormitorium in the Abbey of St. Augustine, in Canterbury where he belonged. The dream had been different this time. Why?
He’d had these dreams for as long as he’d had conscious memory. Always the same figure; a towering, looming creature of smoke and fire, bending to pin him with its gaze. Always he knelt, caught between apprehension and loathing, but somehow drawn to the creature and the secrets he thought it could teach him. Always he was masked and cloaked, his own face and form hidden even from himself. And always, always alone.
But not tonight. It had started the same way. He knelt, awaiting whatever the creature might have to say, awaiting the images that would pour into his mind, crawl behind his eyes and leak out from his pens and brushes no matter how he tried to resist them. If he so much as thought of trying to break free, to flee or wake, his soul would fill with fire and pain.
But then a figure ran out onto the stark, black stage where it inevitably began. Willow-slim, androgynous, and filled with a light that hurt his eyes but filled him with such longing that he couldn’t look away. The figure interposed itself, standing between him and his tormentor, and he feared that its light would be dimmed, smothered by smoke and ash and darkness. And all those things came, swirling about the...angel, it had to be, with sword of light in its hand. A guardian angel...he didn’t deserve that kind of attention.
He feared for the angel, but it was joined by what could only be a warrior-monk; sturdy, robed and hooded, a faintly glowing quarterstaff deployed to deadly effect against the lesser threats, leaving his angel guarded and free to concentrate its efforts, its light holding back the darkness that threatened to consume him. The angel stood, looking small and frail. And then it opened its wings, like a glorious feathered cloak of light, like the pinions of an immense falcon. As the angel shook its wings into place, his mask was hit with a mist of droplets. Seawater? When he woke, his face was wet and tasted of salt. It was his first glimmer of hope.

Marvel’s Rising Star Kamala Khan Sets Out to Expose AIM and Reassemble the Avengers
Today at New York Comic Con 2019, Square Enix® and Crystal Dynamics revealed that fan-favorite Kamala Khan is the latest playable Super Hero to be featured in Marvel’s Avengers. Co-created by G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona, Sana Amanat, and Stephen Wacker, in the comics, Kamala is an enthusiastic teenager who defends her hometown Jersey City as the costumed Ms. Marvel. First appearing in Captain Marvel #14 in August 2013, Kamala quickly captured the imagination of generations of True Believers, leading to her own monthly comic series in February 2014.
youtube
A self-avowed Avengers fan, in the game’s original story, Kamala Khan must apply her intellect, optimism, and unique abilities to the task of unravelling a global conspiracy and reassembling her personal heroes in time to stop a new secretive organization, Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), before they unleash one of the greatest threats Earth has ever faced.
Players first encounter a young Kamala during A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source.
Marvel’s Avengers will release simultaneously for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X, Stadia, and PC on May 15, 2020. The game is currently rated RP, rating pending by the ESRB.

Does WM! Geeky know about what happened with WM! Odelle? Or does Odelle try to keep that bit a secret?
(I asked them for help with answering this!)
WM! Odelle hides their scar and the story that goes with it to strangers and anyone they don't fully trust. The scar is a tender subject, both physically and emotionally, and it's tough to recall it because of how traumatic it was.
Geeky would only know once they'd become close friends, and only when the subject comes up or needs to be addressed! She would know, but only quite far down the line!

Total Number of Books Read in 2016: 61 Number of Comic Books: 51
I’ve been including comic books (I don’t count single issues, just when they are collected in a graphic novel form) in my list for a few years now so its no surprise they are the bulk of my reads.  This year they added up to way more than they have before.
I think I talked about this when I hit 50 books read, but I now work at home.  My work computer has become my home computer and so all my persona junk has migrated to it.  This includes all my digital comic books.  So I now tend to read those a little at a time during my various slow periods at work.  Hence the larger number read.
Its fantastic!

I don't think Bab. knew Shawn was tangentially related to The Fucking Prince. For several months into their apprenticeship.
Imagining Shawn gets invited to an event with all the egos and brings Bab with him and they're just like.
WHAT.
