A sweet $5 rescue from @parkavecds I love these old Windham Hill releases. The imagery and packaging, and the actual recordings themselves. And it seems like every time I find one of these releases they’re in pristine condition. This is ‘Winter into Spring’ by @georgewinstonpiano 1982 Lush solo piano sounds through and through, give this one a listen early am as the sun creeps through your blinds and you get ready to take on the day. Any other Windham Hill fans out there? Who are some of your fave artists from the label? Let me know down below! Hi everybody, hope everyone is doing well, if not, may #thegreatarchitect helps them So they can help themselves. That said, for #recordoftheday I decided to pick this #vinyl by #williamackerman . For the ones who’ll never ask (how I’m doing), yes, I’m in my meditation 🧘♂️ bag 💼 . The nature of this #album tells you everything about my #mood lately. I’ve been a little #melancholic lately (don’t know why 🤷🏽♂️) and a single #guitar #melody sometimes with the right #chords can bring the heart of a man at #ease . #ittakesayear says the title of this #musicalpiece , if that’s the case well #letitbe like #thebeatles ‘s song, and speaking of songs, there are two of them on this #guitarinstrumental collection of songs that makes me feel comfortable in my #unknownsadness : One is ‘’A Tribute To The Philosophy Of James Estell Bradley’’, 🤷🏽♂️ the other is ‘’The Rediscovery Of Big Bug Creek, Arizona’’ . Pretty long and odd titles that says nothing to the #listeners about the content, but that’s human nature, our names says nothing about how we feel inside, nevertheless it’s important to stay in tune with yourself and the world (no matter what) and that’s the reason you should #flirt with all types of #sounds , and this particularly... Record of the day : It Takes A Year Artist : William Ackerman Released in : 1977 #1977 Under : Pastels #germanlabel #pastels Genre : #EasyListening , #Folk , #instrumental #wellthoughtmusic #willackerman #studentsofsoundsacrosstheworld #playitforyourmoma . Peace ✌🏽 https://www.instagram.com/p/CTDEOInsvH3/?utm_medium=tumblr

Tonight we are kicking off the first interviews of #BayAreaMusician season 2 with #WillAckerman, of #WindhamHill fame. Will's guitar playing style pretty much launched a whole new genre and he soon found himself running his own label. Windham Hill was based in Palo Alto and was home to several household names in New Age and Jazz genres including Alex Degrassi, Michael Hedges, Tuck & Patty. The #bayareamusicscene was hopping. After selling Windham Hill, Will moved to Vermont to create his new label: Imaginary Road. He still produces about 16 projects a year in addition to running his farm. One of the artists he has worked with regularly is Jeff Oster, who will also be featured today. Join us for a special treat and a first hand account of the success story of Will Ackerman as a guitarist and as a record label executive. Tune in 6-7pm on kzsu.stanford.edu/live or 90.1FM #sfbayarea #paloalto #willackerman #jeffoster #michaelhedges #alexdegrassi #tuckandpatti #windhamhillrecords #bayareamusician #bayareamusic #thingstodoinsf #bayareahistory (at KZSU Stanford)

Nile Rodgers adds his magic to “next”
So here it is...
I am incredibly happy to share that Nile Rodgers has added his magic to the title track of my new album "next”
Nile Rodgers...Chic..Madonna..Daft Punk..David Bowie..THAT Nile Rodgers...
How's THIS for a rhythm section: Nile Rodgers (guitar), Chuck Rainey (bass), Bernard "Pretty" Purdie (drums)...can it get any better than that?
I THINK NOT!
His guitar sounds so very sweet, and I am incredibly grateful that Nile has joined me and the rest of the amazing artists on this album.
Nile releases HIS new single "I'll Be There" this Friday, the same day we master "next". Check him out here
Truly, the stars align...THANK YOU, Nile, for being a part of my music. This is gonna be GOOD.
Add your email to my mailing list here. Pre orders start next week!

Sneak Preview Review by Bill Binkelman
I think I am pretty fortunate to have an excellent review of my forthcoming album 'Fire in the Rainstorm' !!
You can read it below, or read the original article is here: REVIEW
Kori L Carothers let me hear a sneak peek of her upcoming album (due in September) titled 'Fire in the Rainstorm.' Here are some brief comments about it:
Kori L Carothers ditched her electronic keyboards (which she wielded so well on previous releases such as 'Trilium' and 'The Road Less Traveled') and sat down at her piano sans all other accompaniment to record 'Fire in the Rainstorm,' an album that shines a whole new light on her composing and performing talents. Recorded at Imaginary Roads under the watchful gaze of Will Ackerman, 'Fire in the Rainstorm' is filled with warm piano melodies - somber and melancholic, gently romantic, wistful and reflective, or dramatic and emotionally powerful - always played with rare sensitivity and obvious depth of sincerity and true conviction. Carothers was supposedly concerned about how these unadorned piano instrumentals would be received by fans of her earlier works, but unless those folks don't appreciate great music, wonderful playing, and a tapestry of evocations spread across twelve tracks, I have to believe they will be thoroughly delighted with this album. 'Fire in the Rainstorm' showcases Carothers' artisan's technique and her poet's soul equally and is bound to swell the ranks of her fans considerably.

I love finding anything on the Windham Hill label. Great music and recordings! From the Wikipedia: “Windham Hill Records was an independent record label that specialized in instrumental acoustic music. It was founded by guitarist William Ackerman and Anne Robinson in 1976 and was popular in the 1980s and 1990s.” Follow @paulitosrecordcollection to see me attempt to document every record/MiniDisc/cassette I have 💿💽 —- #paulitosrecordcollection #vinyl #vinylcollection #teac #vinylrecord #turntable #futurefunk #vaporwave #cassettetapes #techno #cassette #walkman #album #rcavictor #sanyo #aiwa #laserdisc #vinylclub #recordoftheday #analogaudio #windhamhill #7inch #cratedigging #alexdegrassi #recordplayer #shadowfax #vinylwrap #willackerman #windhamhillrecords (at Orlando, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQKGoUasxrI/?utm_medium=tumblr

Mastering and pre-ordering is what's "next"::
On Friday 3/20, Will Ackerman, Tom Eaton and I will be heading up to Portland, ME. to master my new album, "next". There, Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering will put the finishing touches on this music.
March 20, 2015 is the vernal equinox, when day and night are of equal length. And on this date this year, certain parts of the Northern Hemisphere will have a total solar eclipse, which will turn day to night. This is extremely rare on a vernal equinox. Also on the evening of 3/20/15, there will be a “super moon” - when the moon's orbit is closest to earth, making it appear larger than normal.
The stars are aligned, the moon is bright, and I think we're ready. Tom has finished the fine-tooth combing, and all that's left is for Bob to encase it in the amber that is a mastered recording.
I have been fortunate and truly blessed to have worked with some amazing artists in the creation of this music. We haven't announced one of them yet, but will do so early this week.
EVERY one of them has added their own special magic to this album, and I thank each and every one of them for helping to make "next" so much more than I ever could have alone. Indeed, we are TRULY family.
"next" will be available for pre-ordering for ITunes, Amazon and for autographed physical copies from http://music.jeffoster.com in the week after 3/20/15.
We can't wait to share this new music with you.

"next." steps...
It's a week or so after my week of mixing with Tom Eaton at his Universal Noise Storage Studio in Newburyport, MA. Imaginary Road East, as it were...
60 hours or more of slaving over a hot mixer, watching and hearing Tom add not only his engineering magic, but also adding bass, keys and more to the 99% finished product. Yes folks, we're almost done...
We go to Gateway Mastering, with the one and only Bob Ludwig, on March 20 to master and finish for realz, this music. Will Ackerman and Tom will be joining me on that trip to Portland, ME., where we get to watch Bob do what he does best...whatever special sauce it is that he adds, we're up for it.
And here, for the first time, are the tracks...
1. next.
2. Night Train to Sofia
3. Gardens of Varanasi
4. Funque Thang
5. I Can't Make You Love Me
6. On Mother's Day
7. Half a Cookie
8. Ibiza Sunrise
9. Avenue D
10. The Mystery of B
11. Heroes
12. And We Dance
And here are the players on the album:
Jeff Oster - Flugelhorn,Trumpet, Loop Programming, Percussion
Chuck Rainey - Bass
Michael Manring - Fretless Bass
Tony Levin - Bass
Bernard "Pretty" Purdie - Drums
Will Ackerman - Guitar

I am incredibly grateful for the contributions of these artists. What you will hear from all of them is so very beautiful, funky fresh, heartbreakingly eloquent...a journey of sound that I think you all will appreciate, enjoy and remember.
Look for next. in April...it's on the way, and it's the new Jeff Oster, like you've never heard him before...
