Notes: I don’t write for TJP, but I tried to do a few for a good handful of the others! If you wanted someone specific, then you can totally ask! :)

Warnings: Mentions of food.

• Akira’s favorite part of the holidays is the food (and more specifically, the sweets), so it’s no shock that he is always buying or baking sweets around the holiday season. Often offering these sweets to others, insisting on other members of the empire to try it. Although sometimes, he keeps them to himself if it’s something that he really enjoys.

• O-Khan often spends the holidays sharing his favorite tales and stories, such as Tale of Babushka, Krampus, Jólakötturinn, and others. However, whether he tells the long version or short version is based on how he feels.

• Callum is someone who can’t hold a secret, so he is someone who gives gifts sooner than necessary. Throughout the holiday season, it isn’t surprising for his friends fo receive gifts on seemingly random days.

• Mark watches cheesy movies consistently. He loves a good (and sometimes bad) romantic movie. Usually it’s on the Hallmark channel and usually it’s by himself, but he’ll watch with Kyle every now and then.

• Will is big on decorating. He’s always the first to have decorations up for the holidays, around the living area and outside his door. He loves buying new decorations (despite not having the room) and showing everyone all the things he’s gotten.

• Akira, Kyle, and Callum love spending the holidays with others, whether it be with friends or family. However, Akira leans more towards family out of the three of them.

• Kyle could and would devour those Christmas frosted sugar cookies from the shops all holiday season. He is obsessed with them, even if he can’t have too many of them.

I finally caught up on AEW and watched MJF's big "why I turned heel" promo. It didn't do much for me.

Fundamentally, Max is angry at the fans because he tried so hard to change for them, but then while he was on the shelf the fans supported other wrestlers. He singled out a time fans chanted "Thank you Joe," even though Joe contributed to the Adam Cole turn on MJF, and took the world title from MJF. This could work as motivation to target Joe, except a) I don't even remember the "Thank you Joe" chants and b) Max proceeded to make it all about Will Ospreay, for some reason.

MJF particularly resents Ospreay for worrying more about Dave Meltzer's star ratings than Nielsen television ratings. (This is objectively false, by the way. But Max is a heel so, uh, boo I guess.) I hate when wrestling does this shit. I get that Max likes to troll the AEW hardcores by bringing up the talking points of WWE shills and Cornette weirdos. But in kayfabe this conflict doesn't make sense, and in rooty-tooty worky-shooty kayfabe the conflict can't be settled with a fake wrestling match.

Lost in all of this is an actual motivation for MJF to attack Daniel Garcia on July 3. I guess the idea is that he did it to provoke Ospreay, or maybe he just figured the fans love Garcia and he wanted to make the fans suffer. Either way, it boils down to "the bad guy attacked the good guy because YOU PEOPLE," which seems too basic for a guy who never shuts up about how next-level his promos are.

The elephant in the room, of course, is Adam Cole, and it's perhaps by design that MJF never mentioned him by name in the July 6 promo. I'm sure the Adamjf diehards will construct a solid headcanon about Max refusing to deal with Cole's betrayal, and denying the anguish he's still feeling, and lashing out in every other direction like a wounded animal. And maybe someday AEW will come around to telling that story. But I don't watch pro wrestling as a prologue for fix-it fanfic. I want the story on the show to stand up on its own. Even if Max is deliberately avoiding a showdown with Adam, that doesn't mean he can't come up with a better excuse to go after Ospreay in the meantime.

I wondered if I was being too hard on Max here, until I found this blistering promo, where Hangman Page finally opens up about how much he hates that the fans embraced Swerve Strickland, and what he's capable of doing to Bryan Danielson in order to get to Swerve. It's far more effective than Max's promo, because mainly Page is actually mad at the guy who made him miserable in the first place, and he's willing to show you how much it's ruined his life. We know what Hangman wants, we know why it's hard to get it, and we know what fights he has to win to get there. In contrast, nothing Max does to Ospreay or Garcia is going to change anybody's opinion about star ratings, or make anyone resent MJF more than they did five years ago.

NJPW

Hiromu: autistic polyam king, neither cis or het, queer queer queer

El Desperado: dealt with self worth issues and depression since he debuted on the main roster, got better in the last few years tho :)

unfortunately in love with Hiromu - gender doesnt play a role in his attraction, not big on labels

Jay White: smug disaster gay, *slaps his head* this bad boy can fit so many mental issues in it, sooo insecure and masks it all till he can't anymore, calls himself King SWITCH so imma take that literal-

No but really i have a lot of thoughts about Jays motivations, in my reading he feels like the only way to make it in njpw as a gaijin is if you disregard the rules, fans and opinions of others - he's deeply afraid of everything he did to even be a wrestler having been pointless, he may cheat to get to his goal but a title is a title, the ultimate proof of his sacrifice having been worth it.

Juice Robinson: genuinely thought about giving up on wrestling, i don't buy his 'haha i tricked u all' explanation, he either reached out to BC or — the spicier take :)c — Jay reached out to him:

He knows how its like to be at rockbottom, feeling like everythings pointless. (his post WK15 promo) The guys Jay was in the dojo with were/are people he genuinely cared about (i could bring up counless examples), so he couldnt sit by and watch Juice throw his shot away

KENTA & Naito both gimme "bastard dad that constantly messes and jokes around but actually deals with a lot of depression and anxiety and whenever he (in the most unexpected moments) brings it up it gives you whiplash, feels like forbidden lore" vibes; they are very similar and i love them a lot, ive written about that before here

also Kenta and Shibata are bitter exes

ELP: bi adhd DUMBASS. with more depth than u would think, dreads all his sacrifice not paying off in the end, similar to Jay, thats generally my theme for Bullet Club, if these dudes weren't so toxic they could be a great support system for one another

Robbie Eagles: bi nerd with the worst taste in men lmao, Ospreay's his ex, him and ELP are whatever the hell they are, obsessed definitely - ive written about them a bit here and here

BUSHI: transmasc genderfluid dude :)

Miho Abe & ZSJ: are whatever makes you fall in love with the trash emperor, they both date TAICHI

Kota Ibushi: adhd/autistic mlm king. okay no but genuinely i have so many feelings about Ibushis struggle to fit in, to do as others expect of him, being the weird one - i can relate to that so much it makes me cry

LIJ group dynamic:

Shingo and Naito are bastard brothers that annoy each other on purpose, Sanadas the younger brother both get along with

Naito and Bushi are parental figures for Hiromu, based on Naito being Takahashis mentor and Hiromu literally describing Bushi with お母さん, mother.

Shingo is Hiromus loud scary uncle, Sanada is his cool quiet uncle

Naito and Bushi are married.

Like I said, I have a little armada, so easiest way to do this is to share my fave fics & writers & we can take it from there :)

I’ll start with @tealtier​ ( also tealtier on AO3) who is responsible for introducing me to the very lovely pairing of Naito/Bushi & the wonderful idea of Expensive Lucha Wife Bushi - gorgeous insight into their dynamic too, you’ll never see an LIJ match the same way again. 

The Naito/Bushi LIJ as found family dynamic is also gorgeously portrayed in If I’ve Been Enveloped in Tenderness, which is possibly my fave fic at the moment.

@leaveharmony​ ( as Vrekasht) has written the most stunning Shinsuke/Tana series of fics, and yes, we 100% still count Shinsuke as NJPW for the purposes of shipping

my @bingbinghua ( lamentomori) is a terrible multi-shipper like me & we have the most nonsense headcanons about literally everyone. Hiromu is her baby when it comes to fic - in all sorts of poly LIJ combinations, as Cogito & with Despy. Her determination that Despy deserves nice things (not at all egged on by me :p) also has him paired with ZSJ - their little mini series within last years Christmas collection is a JOY) Full disclosure - I am an absolute fanatic of ALL her work.

On the subject of Despy/ZSJ, I have to mention 2 series - you’re a hard one & Murder Friends with Benefits  - there is not nearly enough of these dickheads in love out there in the world, but what there is...oh it’s good.

@axel-mania ( smarky) has very good Despy/ZSJ too, and also very yummy Hiromu/Dragon Lee - yet another painfully under represented ship in fic, I mean...has no-one ever seen a Dragon Lee comment? *cough cough canon* :D

I’m Moiself over on AO3 - most of my wrestle fic is from the other place, but I’ve got Milano/Sanada, Ospreay/Okada, Omega/Scurll, Ospreay/Hiromu, Henare/Shota, an ongoing Shinsuke/Tana and Sho/Yoh - who you may or may not be able to tell from my ramblings on my blog that I ADORE.

Devin AU Headcanon (Due to the horrible booking of the Women's Royal Rumble): Her biggest storyline in NJPW was her trying to get the respect of each stable in the company. The leader of each stable would set up three different matches (could either be the same person or three different people), and she had to win all of them to earn their respect. {This is all happening in like 2016} From Bullet Club, she wrestled Matt Jackson, Tama Tonga, and Nick Jackson. From Chaos, she wrestled Will Ospreay three times. From Los Ingobernables de Japon, she wrestled Bushi, Sanada, and Evil. From Suzuki-Gun, she wrestled Taichi, El Desperado, and Lance Archer. After the “tournament” of sorts, she was allowed to join any stable of her choosing and she chose Suzuki-Gun.

Just with this storyline, Devin is easily the coolest woman wrestler EVER. This idea is so freaking cool, original and badass and something like this happening in real life could be the best thing to ever exist!

What I like about them:

Um everything?? His hair is what drew me in because it’s so.. pretty and floofy and looks so soft?? And when he’s upset, like after fale killed daryl, it just engulfs his face. And he’s so talented and unDERRATED LEMME FUCKING TELL YOU. And his character is so unique. He’s reckless but every move is calculated, he wants to fight his opponents as much as he wants to fuck them and I support him 100% in all his adventures?? And his ring gear is so colorful and he’s so perfect and?? What’s not to like?? It also helps he’s part of my favorite stable ;~;

What I dislike about them:

idk if this counts but Daryl. He was cute at first and brought much deserved attention to Hiromu, but he’s gotten too.. big? Like he takes attention away from Hiromu and the amazing things he’s doing and the actual purpose of Daryl, which was for therapy and since Hiromu let him go after he died, he probably doesn’t need it anymore?? And. Idk. ://

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more:

Look I am a sucker for watching Hiro chase all the pretty boys but, idk it would be interesting to see someone chase him instead. Like he’s so used to having to take the initiative, and always getting rejected, that having someone else actually go for him and actually want him —— whether or not he goes for it is dependent on the situation and the other person —— would be such.. a shock that he wouldn’t know what to do and ??

An interesting AU for this character:

This isn’t super specific and kinda lame but a supernatural au. Like demon!hiro would be so interesting, I’m need.

Hiromu catches feelings easily but they’re either fleeting / fake or stay forever, there is no in-between, but his heart always belongs to Naito soz. He’s a very affectionate person, except when he’s upset. He goes on a rampage, screaming and crying and destroying everything in his path, before crumpling in some corner to hide from everyone. He’s a good chef too, maybe not the best you’ve ever seen but he takes care of himself and the rest of LIJ. Daryl is his confidant but when he’s unavailable, Hiromu goes to his best friend Bushi.

Have you ever written stuff for Will Ospreay? because I have thoughts bout little! Will and united empire just taking turns like passing him like "not it"

I’ve never written for Ospreay, but I might be down to write something for him. I don’t know too much about him and I wish I knew more, because he seems like such a great personality to write. Maybe I’ll write for him for the right request 🥰
