"This young Corn snake's cloudy blue eyes reveal a new transformation is coming…
As the old skin prepares to slough off from the snake’s body, the eyes have taken on a cloudy blue hue, and soon its skin will appear dull and lighter in color. “Going opaque” is caused by fluid buildup between the layers of new and old skin. Healthy snakes shed their skin when they are most active, emerging from brumation, and growing bigger in size.
📸 This wild Corn snake photograph offers a glimpse into the renewal process of snakes before they reveal vibrant new scales. Plus, this snake’s juvenile pattern will evolve with each shed to reveal new colorations as it matures. The touch of red and subtle hints of orange also spark my imagination about a fresh shed! "
