But its all fake outs, and it's just seven seasons of the messiest family drama imaginable. Noldor scandals and brewing rifts between them and the Valar. Maglor breaks a lute string and suspects sabotage. Aredhel steals a horse and gets lost in the woods. Feanor spends a really moving episode visiting the garden of his Mother's body. It's week 5 of our four week series on mayhaps, and so I do something different. This time, inspired by the new game I'm a player in, a desert themed druid.

Sand Veil

This ability was inspired by Gaara's shield of sand power. Originally I was to make it more expensive and use a pocket sand inspiration, letting you blind people who try and attack you in melee, but then I added spray of cards as a spell so it felt superfluous

Sand monsters are cool. What if you could summon them?

Shifting Masses

Misty escape from the feylock is cool, what if you AND your sand monsters could do that, sandily?

Oh yes, and make all your summons sand, why not? Why not change the elementals? Because that wouldn't make sense. And the fire elementals would be shit out of luck in water

Not a lot of druid circles call for the spend two wild shapes cost on the level 10 feature. It'ls kind of neat. So here I give you the intended animated sands, but game balance is a thing

What if we just dropped a heap of sand on top of people? Can I say that suffocation is a weird rule to work around? And why is this a sphere instead of a more typical conical shape as expected of a fallen heap of sand? As much as I wanted to troll the 5e shapes guide by making it a 20 ft cone pointed down, that probably would have caused needless confusion

opinion on the porcelain Graves skin???? I don’t hate it but I’m mad it’ll take another year or more until we get another one and porcelain is such a boring theme. Stick him in an interesting skin line for once riot.

Well, on twitter I compared Porcelain Graves with the WR exclusive skin Dragon Lantern Graves (not the special edition) I'll transcribe it here.

Let's start with splasharts. Wild Rift's Splash arts are generally criticized, many times I don't agree, some of them are of even higher quality than those of League, which is the case of Dragon Lantern Graves. Even though it's not Graves' best splash, or the best skinline splash, it's pretty and pleasant, my only criticism is that it's a little too static, there's not much movement

the Graves porcelain splash has some problems, at first glance it is.. pretty, but whenever you look at it, there seems to be something wrong, it really is a strange splash, and it's not the fault of the artist who made it.

in the end, they(riot) decided to increase the proportions and add a lot of texture, to achieve this result, so... yeah, it's not the best splash. but it's pretty

About the VFX, let's be honest, they tend to do something very mediocre with Graves when it comes to visual effects, apart from his legendary skin (which it would be stupid of them to do something too simple) Graves' recent epic skins haven't received as much love.

Even though the Dragon Lantern skin has basically the same sounds as the base skin (i guess) the quality of the VFX is absurdly good (better than his legendary if you allow me to say). The Porcelain one.. is... mediocre.. ofc they couldn't put something cool like Lux and Lissandra's skins, right?

Ok, let's get to the part that irritated me the most. The narrative..

Yes, we agree that Graves is not a big "important" character in Runeterra, he is not there to be a protagonist. That doesn't mean he can't cause real chaos, and set Bilgewater on fire just in an attempt to get revenge on his current partner. Why did I bring this up? because it is absurd to portray Graves as a pathetic and irrelevant character.

With that in mind, read Porcelain Graves' bio:

They are so fond of abusing the fact that Graves is, in some ways, a comic relief, that they make him the real joke, to the exclusion of everything else about him, and making him "unworthy". It's like they're saying "ugh, should this guy really be here? Who called him?". Whoever wrote the narrative of porcelain skinline seems to hate him, for real..

Now let's go to Dragon Lantern Graves' bio:

Graves, a free-spirited mercenary from a foreign land, can hardly wait to join in the fun at the gala. yes I caved in, here's my Welcome Home ARG OCs - Paige & Tabby Trouble <3 (ft Barnaby and Zircon, @raetreaderarts's OC)

the idea I had for these two is that they're meant to be characters original and exclusive to a potential Welcome Home cartoon show that was in the making (which explains why there's no puppets of them) but got scrapped or maybe it never aired - Paige and Tabby were created to appeal to older kids who were more into whacky characters like Tom & Jerry, and to cause more action and shenanigans within the neighbourhood

I designed them with the idea of. yknow. when cartoons have remakes or reboots and extra characters are added to appeal to the current generations, but they're a little disconnected from the original cast that it causes old fans to IMMEDIATELY dislike them? so it causes this rift of "OH IM A FAN OF THE OLD WELCOME HOME!!" kinda vibe.

Paige runs the local library (which also doubles as the siblings' house) and has a one-sided rivalry with Frank. Paige is ALSO implied to have been just as reckless and wild as their sibling Tabby, but "mellowed out" after moving to Home <3 the running joke is that they act very strict, elegant and mysterious but lose their marbles very easily.

Tabby is an energetic prankster who never grew out of their mischevious phase, most of their pranks end up causing a lot of trouble for everyone involved instead - which they're forced to fix at the very end. Since Paige is trying to clean up their act, Tabby feels like they have to make up for it with double shenanigans. They lie a lot for fun and love to play sports.

I imagine the educational aspect would still remain somewhat, so Paige would teach useful school stuff like using planners, making to-do lists, library etiquette, etc. And Tabby would urge kids to stay physically active because of all the sports they play, the rules of most games (with their own TWIST!!!) and so on. BUT ALSO!!!

they're NYANBINARY rep and meant to help kids explore and normalize queerness - some cats are neither girls nor boys, some are both, some are more and they're still the coolest cats in the neighbourhood, nothing wrong with that <3

I also like to think that Tabby really looks up to Barnaby since he's the resident clown and that they get along with Sally and often volunteer to help. Or rather, that Tabby likes to volunteer to help their neighbours with anything, so a lot of scripts were about them helping others like, Howdy at the store or Eddie with the mail, Sally with her plays etc - but they always leave things halfway through because they have the attention span of a fly.

And Paige really gets along with Polly and Eddie because "they're good influences" and it makes them feel all grown up to hang out with responsible people.

So Baldur's Gate 3 has now fully released, and it kinda fucks?

Okay more than kinda, Baldur's Gate 3 should be the new standard for larger studios in terms of quality and, more importantly, how they treat players. I can't believe I'm saying that about a D&D game.

So for context to that last bit: I'm super fucking jaded on D&D. I've pretty much jumped ship entirely to any other TTRPG (namely Pathfinder 2e) because I hate how Wizards of the Coast have handled D&D 5e and how they treat their customers.

I fucking love Baldur's Gate 3. It's still got some of the D&D things I'm not overly fond of, but that's a personal taste thing, and overall this game fucking rules. Larian is really out here just making D&D a more fun experience than the actual Wizards of the Coast, it's honestly kinda wild.

But more than just in the context of "a D&D game" I want to talk about Baldur's Gate 3 in the larger scope of videogames as a whole, primarily in the triple A scene. There's a reason Baldur's Gate 3 is doing so well and why it's very quickly become so beloved, and it's not just because of the bear sex. That reason can be largely boiled down to "Larian respects their playerbase, and more importantly respects their money." Too often we're seeing games from big triple A companies that already have way too much fucking money just being absolutely filled beyond the brim with monetisation for something that's likely already $90-100 AUD. Or worse: games that borderline lie to you about how much they cost, Destiny 2 I'm fucking looking at you and your "genuinely the worst monetisation I have seen in a game." Or just straight up gacha games that are purpose built to fuck you out of your money and use similar tricks that the gambling industry uses to make money.

But Baldur's Gate 3? Pay the full price up front, and you get a full game. There's no hidden "gotcha!" monetisation, no battlepasses, no rotating digital storefront, no fake "premium" currency, no "but it's only cosmetic" microtransactions. I'm not even gonna gripe against their pre-order stuff like I normally would, because you could actually play the game before it was released. Baldur's Gate 3 was in Early Access for literal years before it fully released, and it used that time quite well! It's fascinating seeing where it came from and how much has changed since then. But more importantly: if you "pre-ordered" the game (read: buy it in Early Access) you could still play the game, you still immediately got something for your money. If you didn't like it, you could still refund it if you wanted to. As a nice little bonus: the game mostly just works! It's not perfect, there's some little oddities here and there, but I haven't had the game break yet. But then again, I'm one of the people who somehow managed to have a pretty bug-free Cyberpunk 2077 experience at launch, so who knows.

And plus it comes with couch co-op! Why is that so rare these days?? It feels like the only games you can really sit down with and play with friends these days are party games.

Of course, Baldur's Gate 3 isn't truly alone here. Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West have come out as full games with no monetisation BS and working fine, albeit stuck to PlayStation for a long time before releasing elsewhere (although BG3 is currently PC exclusive, though that should change next month). God of War, while I've not personally played, I haven't heard anything egregious about it. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is such a fun time, but at $125 AUD it's a hard sell, even knowing all the work that went into it (Though that did drop to just $95 AUD on PC). I'm even going to give Cyberpunk 2077 an honourable mention, because if you had a computer that could run it at launch it was still a damn good time. Though that one unfortunately came at the cost of "should never have been released on last gen consoles" and "worker abuse through crunch."

But all of those examples have the "pre-order to maybe get something" issue that Baldur's Gate 3 avoided through its Early Access launch. You also can't really share those games with friends. You can maybe let a friend borrow the game and then talk about it after you've both finished it in your own time, but that's kinda like watching a movie separately and then talking about it. It's just not the same. That's not even mentioning how small that list is. I'd say it's just single player games, but both Bethesda and Ubisoft have shown even they're not safe.

I haven't seen any game from a large studio respect the player as much as I have with Larian and Baldur's Gate 3. I definitely don't feel bad paying full price for this one. Once they're wrapped up with BG3, I don't suppose I could bribe them to make a Pathfinder game? Pretty please? Already like halfway there with Divinity: Original Sin 2!

Three years ago, a series of mysterious rifts tore through the Undertale universe, displacing every character from their familiar realms into a world completely devoid of magic. This new world was stark and ordinary, a place where mana, monsters, and the essence of determination had no existence. Stranded and powerless, the monsters faced a dire choice: hide from the humans or try to assert dominance over them. Many expended their dwindling reserves of mana, with no way to replenish it. This unfamiliar and alarming presence sparked fear among the humans, who soon formed a specialized team of researchers to study and contain these strange beings. Captured monsters were subjected to rigorous experiments and classified by their potential threat, rated on a scale from 1 to 12. They were then segregated into seven distinct Sectors, with Sector 1 exclusively dedicated to housing the most dangerous creatures, those rated Level 10-12. In this grim new reality, both humans and monsters grappled with the unknown, each side striving to survive and understand the strange world they now inhabited.

Three years into this altered reality, the reader—a hidden Frisk of this strange new world—finds themselves assigned to investigate a dangerous anomaly that was apprehended and hidden away in their Sector. This anomaly, far too perilous for their assigned area, brings them face-to-face with Error Sans. And so, their story begins.

I repeat, there's a lot of scenes unsuitable for younger audiences, and you might end up hating me for some of it since some of the good characters turns bad and very uncharacteristic. Some AU's will be mentioned, and it's completely non canon, and I do apologize for bringing other's characters into this. This is just my own version of the story, and— I repeat— it's a dark one.

It's a gender neutral story (female oc in my comic) that's going to have some character development and suggested love interest pairings (mainly Error), and some characters will be unalived. But if you do enjoy a good heartbreaking, heart pounding, heart stopping, rage triggering story, well, there you go. 💀

As someone who adores Seraphine but usually prefers the "mad" character archetype this is literally perfect. If you didn't know this skin is a reference to the Mad Hatter.
